AFTER FUELING THE VEHICLE FROM ANY LEVEL TO FULL THE CAR WILL STALL WHEN AT IDLE WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF RUN-TIME. IT WILL STALL AT LEAST TWO MORE TIMES AND THEN RUN FINE FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE TANK. ON EXAM BY OUR MECHANIC IT APPEARS TO BE CAUSED BY THE ROLLOVER VALVE IN THE GAS TANK WHICH REQUIRES COMPLETE TANK REPLACEMENT. THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN BECAUSE THE VALVE IS MALFUNCTIONING AND COULD CAUSE FUEL TO SPILL IN EVENT OF A ROLL OVER. IT ALSO IS A SAFETY ISSUE FROM STALLING IN TRAFFIC CAUSING A ROAD HAZARD.
THE VEHICLE HAS A PURGE VALVE OR OTHER ISSUE THAT IS VERY COMMON THAT CAUSES THE CAR TO SHUT OFF AFTER FILLING UP GAS. THIS LEADS TO VEHICLES SHUTTING OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, LOSING CONTROL OF STEERING AND ACCELERATION AS WELL AS OTHER POWERED THINGS, SINCE THE CAR SHUTS OFF.
K FRAME FRONT AND REAR IS ROTTED. MY CAR WON'T PASS INSPECTION. NEEDS MANIFOLD STYLE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. WON'T PASS INSPECTION. CAR STALLS OUT IN TRAFFIC EVERY TIME WE REFUEL
REAR CROSS BAR AXLE IS DEFECTIVE. THE WHEEL SUSPENSION IS DETERIATED TO THE POINT THAT THE WHEELS PROTRUDE OUWARD FROM THE VEHICLE CAUSING EXTREME WEAR ON THE INSIDE PART OF THE REAR TIRES TO THE POINT OF WIRES ON RADIAL TIRES ARE EXPOSED. THE OUTSIDE PART OF THE TIRES SHOW MINIMUM WEAR. MECHANICS SAY THIS CROSS BAR AXLE IS POOR QUALITY STEEL OR STEEL THAT WASN'T CURED AND FINISHED PROPERLY. THE CROSS BAR AXLE IS LITERALLY ERODING WITH HOLES OCCURRING RIGHT THROUGH THE AXLE ITSELF. FEAR IS THE CAR IS BECOMING TOO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE WITHOUT FEAR THAT UPON HITTING A BUMP THE REAR WHEELS WILL SPREAD APART AND THE CAR FALL TO THE GROUND.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMPASS. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS AT AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR BRAKE REPAIR SERVICE, THE MECHANIC NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE CRADLE WAS COMPLETELY RUSTED AND CORRODED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
I HAVE HAD THIS JEEP FOR LITTLE OVER A YEAR AND HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP, THE DRIVE CHAIN, FRONT CONTROL ARMS AND NOW I AM TOLD THAT THE SUBFRAME IS RUSTED AND APPARENTLY CRACKED AS IT MAKES AWFULLY LOAD NOISES IN THE BACK. I HAVE CONTACTED A JEEP DEALER TO CK ON THE REPLACEMENT OF THE SUBFRAME. I AGREE, DO NOT BUY A JEEP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMPASS. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL CLUNKING NOISE AND DISCOVERED THAT THE SUBFRAME AND CROSS MEMBER WERE RUSTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE CONTACT CALLED A LOCAL DEALER (HILLVIEW MOTORS, 5309 US 30, GREENSBURG, PA 15501), BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT CALLED A MANUFACTURER AND WAS ADVISED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A LOCAL DEALER TO BE INSPECTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 160,000.
ROTTED FRONT SUBFRAME. THERE WAS AN EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THIS BUT I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED AND NOW I HAVE TO PAY FOR REPAIRS OUT OF POCKET.
THE TIPM HAS A KNOWN DEFECT. IT HAS CAUSE THE LEFT HEADLIGHT, TAILLIGHT, AND BLINKER TO MALFUNCTION AS WELL AS STALL WHILE TRAVELING AT HIGH SPEEDS. I WAS TOLD BY THE JEEP DEALERSHIP THAT I WOULD NEED TO REPLACE THIS AT MY OWN COST EVEN THOUGH IT IS A HIGHLY KNOWN ISSUE WITH THEIR VEHICLES MANY OF WHICH HAVE ALREADY BEEN RECALLED.
ROT TO SUB FRAME THAT IS AFFECTING STEERING CONTROL
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMPASS. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE ENGINE, EMERGENCY BRAKE, FOUR WHEEL DRIVE UNAVAILABLE, AND COLLISION CENTER INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER (BOARDWALK JEEP, 1 BAIR ISLAND RD, REDWOOD CITY, CA 94063) STATED THAT THEY WOULD NEED TO KEEP THE VEHICLE FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE TECHNICIAN WAS DIAGNOSING THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS KEPT FROM AUGUST 29, 2017 TO NOVEMBER 4, 2017. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THERE WAS AN ELECTRICAL FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED, BUT THE ENGINE INDICATOR CONTINUED TO ILLUMINATE. THERE WERE NO RECALLS ASSOCIATED WITH THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.
HAVING PROBLEMS WHEN FUELING THE VEHICLE. THE PUMP CONSTANTLY CUTS OUT AND ONCE YOU DO GET GAS IN THE TANK AFTER FILLING UP, THE CAR HESITATES AND ACTUALLY STALLS OUT AS YOU DRIVE - . HAS STALLED 3 TIMES IN 1 DAY AND SEVERAL OTHER TIMES. THE FUELING ISSUES HAVE BEEN GOING ON FOR SEVERAL MONTHS, BUT NOW THE STALLING AND HESITATION OF MOTOR ISSUE IS SAFETY ISSUE.
STALLS AFTER FILL UP. WE DO NOT TOP OFF OR OVERFILL THE TANK. EVERYTIME WE FILL THE TANK UP TO THE AUTOMATIC SHUT OFF, THE ENGINE STALLS WITHIN ABOUT 30 SECONDS. GENERALLY, THE ENGINE WILL STALL IF IDLING AT A STOP LIGHT AFTER FILLUP. THE ENGINE DOES NOT STALL IF THE VEHICLE IS RUNNING ABOVE 25-30 MILES PER HOUR. THE ENGINE STARTS RIGHT BACK UP WITHOUT PROBLEM, BUT WILL CONTINUE TO STALL. AFTER VEHICLE HAS BEEN DRIVEN A FEW MILES, THE STALLING ISSUE DISAPPEARS ENTIRELY.
AFTER FILLING THE FUEL TANK THIS VEHICLE WILL STALL. THIS HAPPENS ROUTINELY FOLLOWING A FUEL TANK FILL-UP AND IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. THERE ARE MANY CONCERNS ON THE WORLD WIDE WEB OF JEEP COMPASS AND PATRIOT OWNERS EXPERIENCING THE SAME ISSUE WITHOUT RESOLVE. MANY PEOPLE ARE SUGGESTING THAT THE GAS TANK, CHARCOAL FILTER AND ROLL-OVER VALVE NEED TO BE REPLACED TO RESOLVE, WHICH COMES AT A PRICE OF $2000+ PER VEHICLE. THIS NOTIFICATION OF A PROBLEM IS PROACTIVE AND SHOULD BE ADDRESSED PRIOR TO BECOMING REACTIVE TO INJURIES OR FATALITIES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMPASS 4X4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE GEAR WAS STUCK IN THE PARK POSITION, WITHOUT ANY WARNING INDICATORS. THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 178,255.
MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING AND THE LEFT FRONT CROSS MEMBER THAT HAD RUSTED AND WAS COMPLETELY CORRODED FAILED AND FELL ON TO THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE TIRE.LUCKILY SHE WAS GOING SLOW ENOUGH AND WAS ABLE TO CONTROL VEHICLE TO SAFE STOP. IF SHE WAS ON THE HIGHWAY AND THIS HAPPENED IT COULD HAVE KILLED HER AS WELL AS OTHERS.I HAD JUST PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE ON NOVEMBER 2016 FROM A AUTO SALES COMPANY. AFTER THE FAIL I LEARNED THAT THERE WAS A EXTENDED (10) WARRANTY (IE X58) THAT WARNED OF THIS PROBLEM AND A FIX PROVIDED BY COMPANY. I WAS NEVER TOLD THIS INFORMATION WHEN I PURCHASED THIS CAR THAT IT WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND SHOULD HAS BEEN REPAIR BEFORE BEING SOLD TO ANYONE OR AT LEAST INSPECTED. I WAS TOLD BY CHRYSLER REP THAT THE VEHICLE IS STILL REGISTERED IN CANADA AND THEY HAD NO IDEA THIS CAR WAS IN UNITED STATES SO THE INFORMATION NEVER FOLLOWED THE CAR. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THE CAR MAKE WAS IN SEPT OF 2006 EVEN THOUGH IT IS A 2007 ON TITLE AND THE WARRANTY GOES BY MAKE DAY SO MY CAR IS 6 MONTHS OUT OF A WARRANTY THAT I DID NOT KNOW EXISTED BECAUSE THE CAR IS STILL REGISTERED IN CANADA. THE INFORMATION THAT THIS VEHICLE FRONT OR REAR SUSPENSION COULD FAIL SHOULD HAVE BEEN THE UTTER MOST CONCERN FOR SAFE BY THE CHRYSLER COMPANY OF CANADA AND NOT A I HOPE YOU GOT OUR LETTER THAT YOUR CAR MY KILL YOU OR YOU FAMILY AT ANYTIME FROM RUST FAILURE IN AROUND 10 YEARS OR SO AND WE KNOW IT !!! AS OF TODAY CHRYSLER HAS NOT MADE A DECISION ON WEATHER OR NOT THEY INTEND TO FIX THIS VEHICLE BUT THE FACT REMAIN THERE ARE MORE 2007 JEEP COMPASS OUT THERE THAT NEED TO BE WARNED THAT THE CANADA VERSION OF THIS VEHICLE COULD FAIL ANYTIME I`M SURE I`M NOT THE ONLY PERSON WHO PURCHASED A COMPASS FROM CANADA PLANT THAT IS NOW IN THE USA THAT HAS NOT BEEN TOLD OF THIS PROBLEM. THIS WHY I FEEL THERE SHOULD HAVE RECALLED THEM FOR REPAIR IN STEAD OF HOPE YOU GOT OR LETTER. LOOK AT PICTURE!
SUBFAME IS FALLING APART ROTTED FROM A/C DRIP VALVE ! SWAY BAR NO LONGER CONNECTED TO SUBFRAME! BAD DESIGN OF JEEP COMPASS 07 SUBFAME !!!
I HAVE A 2007 JEEP COMPASS WITH 104000 MILES ON IT. THE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON WHILE DRIVING, IT WAS INTERMITTENT AT FIRST WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL WAS TURNED BY THE END OF THE SAME DAY THE LIGHT REMAINED ON. THE NEXT DAY I TOOK IT IN TO THE DEALER, THEY DIAGNOSED A BAD CLOCK SPRING. THE TECHNICIAN NOTED IT LOOKED VERY SIMILAR TO THE JEEP WRANGLER CLOCK SPRINGS THAT ARE CURRENTLY UNDER RECALL.
MY MACHANIC JUST TOLD ME THE TIPM IS BAD AND NEEDS REPLACED! HE SAID IT'S A COMMON PROBLEM THAT CHRYSLER HAS TRIED TO HIDE UNDER THE RUG!!! I GOOGGLED THIS AND YOU GUYS REFUSE TOGET THE ISSE RECALLED! MY AIRBAGS COULD JUST DEPLY THEMSELVES WHILE I'M DRIVING!!! AND YOU NUMBNUTS DON'T FIND THAT ALARMING? I'M AM GOING TO BLAST THIS ALL OVER FACEBOOK...EVERYDAY!!! DO YOUR JOB & GET THIS RECALLED NOW!!! OR YOU WILL SEE ME ON THE NEWS, POINTING MY FINGER AT YOU NHTSA!
EVERY TIME I FUEL UP VEHICLE IT STALLS LEAVING THE GAS STATION. USUALLY ONLY A FEW HUNDRED FEET , IT SHUTS DOWN , I HAVE TO QUICKLY PUT IT INTO PARK AND RESTART THE ENGINE. I NOW ONLY PUT IN 8 GALS WHEN ITS LOW ON THE GAUGE. SINCE THEN IT WONT STALL. THE CAR WAS ACCELERATING LEAVING THE STATION STOPPING IN FRONT OF COMING TRAFFIC.
THIS VEHICLE STALLS AFTER FILLING UP TANK, YOU FILL THE TANK AND A COUPLE MILES DOWN THE ROAD IT WILL STALL, THEN IT IS GOOD UNTIL NEXT FILL UP. THIS IS MY WIFES CAR AND IM AFRAID FOR HER SINCE SHE TAKES THE EXPRESS WAY ALL THE TIME.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

DRIVING MY JEEP COMPASS AND THE FRONT END STARTED I THOUGHT IT HAD MY ROCKS UP IN THE BRAKE SYSTEM TOOK A MECHANIC AND HE BLEW EVERYTHING OUT THERE ALL THAT STUFF AND THEN IT STILL CAME BACK MAKING THE THUMPING TALKING NOISE LIKE WHEN YOU TURN TURN YOUR WHEEL TO THE RIGHT OR LEFT OR WHEN YOU BACKUP AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT'S CAUSING IT.
RIGHT AFTER I FILL THE GAS TANK OF MY 2007 JEEP COMPASS THE ENGINE WILL STALL. TYPICALLY, IF I AM STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT LESS THAN A QUARTER MILE FROM THE GAS STATION WHERE I FILLED UP THE ENGINE WILL JUST DIE ON ME. IT WILL START RIGHT BACK UP AGAIN AND I DON'T EXPERIENCE ANY TROUBLE AFTER BURNING A LITTLE FUEL. I AM NOT GETTING ANY LIGHTS ON MY DASHBOARD AND THERE AREN'T ANY ENGINE CODES BEING THROWN. ALSO FOR THE RECORD I AM NOT OVERFILLING MY GAS TANK, AT LEAST THE AUTOMATIC SHUTOFF ON THE PUMP SEEMS TO STOP WHEN IT SHOULD. IF I FILL THE TANK 1-2 GALLONS LESS THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN. WHEN THE CAR DIES I LOOSE COMPLETE CONTROL OF ALL ELECTRONICS AND POWER STEERING AND BRAKING. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES ON CITY STREETS, PULLING INTO A HIGHWAY FROM LEAVING A GAS STATION, STATIONARY, AND IN MOTION. THIS HAPPENS EVERY FILL UP.
SEVERE CORROSION OF CROSSMEMBERS & INCOMPLETE DEALER SERVICING OF ISSUE. A TSB # 23-012-14 ISSUED 5/19/2014 EXTENDED COVERAGE OF CROSSMEMBERS TO UNLIMITED MILEAGE & 10 YEARS. DEALER REPLACED FRONT CROSSMEMBER 02/2017 WITHIN COVERAGE PERIOD BUT CLAIM CONDITION AT TIME OF REAR CROSSMEMBER DIDN'T ALSO WARRANT REPLACEMENT DESPITE LACK OF METAL STRUCTURE TO WALLS OF CROSSMEMBER AND HAVE DECLINED TO EXTEND REPAIR TO AN OBVIOUSLY LONG EXISTING PROBLEM OF REAR CROSSMEMBER CONDITION.
I SEEN THAT THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL ON THE SAME MAKE,MODEL AND YEAR FOR TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS...I JUST PURCHASE THE JEEP FROM A CAR LOT 2/2017 HAD A 30 DAY WARRANTY DURING THAT TIME THEY HAD TO WORK ON 6 TIMES JUST MADE MY SECOND PAYMENT AND I CAN'T ACCELERATE AFTER IT GETS UP TO 40 FIRST RPMS DIDN'T MOVE AT ALL THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED NOW RMP AND GOING UP AND WON'T GO DOWN....I FEEL THAT IT'S COULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE CAUSE IF I'M ON THE HIGHWAY AND IT HAPPENS WITH NO WARNING SOMEONE FOLLOWING CLOSE BEHIND ME THAT COULD ENDED BADLY AND AFTER LOOKING INTO THE PROBLEM LOOKS LIKE IT HAPPENS ALOT WITH THIS MODEL....
IT WAS LIKE A GHOST TOOK OVER IT SCARED ME TO DEATH. MY LIGHTS STARTED FLASHING, BLINKER CAME ON WOULDN'T GO OFF, WIPERS WERE GOING FULL SPEED AND THE DASH WHERE IT TELLS YOU SOUTH, NORTH, EAST AND WEST STOP WORKING. IT'S SOMETHING DEFINITELY WRONG WITH THIS CAR AND READING THE FORUMS WITH THE SAME ISSUES SHOULD BE A RECALL.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE PERSISTED AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
2007 JEEP COMPASS. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO WATER LEAKAGE, VEHICLE HESITATION AND JERKING PROBLEMS. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO THE REPAIR SHOP THREE TIMES IN A TWO WEEK SPAN. *JS
WHEN I PUSH THE BELT INTO THE RECEIVER IT CLICKS AND HOLDS THE TONGUE OF THE METAL CATCH BUT WHEN YOU TUG ON IT IT PULLS APART EASILY. WE DO NOT KNOW HOW LONG THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON. IT IS THE PASSENGER SIDE THAT WE ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM WITH
DRIVING ON A HIGHWAY AT 35 MPH AND BRAKING FOR A RED LIGHT THE JEEP FRONT END COLLAPSED AND THE VEHICLE SERVED TO THE LEFT. DEALER INSPECTION REVEALED THE FRONT CROSSMEMBER BROKE DUE TO CORROSION. THE REAR CROSSMEMBER WAS ALSO CORRODED. THE UNDERCARRIAGE OF THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED EXCESSIVE & EXPENSIVE DAMAGED. CHRYSLER HAS NO RECALL ON THIS CORROSION PROBLEM ALTHOUGH IT HAS ISSUED AN ACTION UNDER 23-012-14. CUSTOMER NOTIFICATION WOULD PREVENT ANY POSSIBLE ACCIDENTS AND UNDERCARRIAGE DAMAGE BUT NO SUCH NOTIFICATION IS IN EFFECT. A SERVICE VISIT ON 10/2016 WITH INSPECTION DID NOT ALERT THE OWNER OR DEALER TO THIS DANGEROUS CONDITION OF CORROSION OF A CRITICAL STRUCTURE OF THE VEHICLE.
WHEN I PUT GAS IN THE CAR THE FIRST 20 MINTUES THE CAR TURNS OFF WHEN IN MOTION ON ANY STREET BUT ONLY IN THOSE 20 MINTUES. AFTER THE 20 MINTUES THE CAR IS FINE AND IT SAYS IT HAS NO ERRORS AND IT DOESN'T TURN OFF.
CHRYSLER SERVICE BULLETIN NUMBER: 23-012-14 FRONT AND REAR CROSS-MEMBER CORROSION . BY WHAT I READ IT SHOULD BE COVERED, BUT DEALERSHIP TOLD THE GIRLFRIEND THAT IT ISN'T ... THIS MEMBER IS RUSTED COMPLETELY THROUGH BUT THEY HAVE STATED IT IS NOT COVERED. THIS ISSUE HAS THE POTENTIAL TO CAUSE DEATH IF FINAL FAILURE CAUSES A CRASH AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS.
SUSPENSION SUBFRAME EXTREMELY WORN OUT AT AROUND 100,000MILES AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED.
EVERY TIME AFTER REFUELING, MY 2007 JEEP COMPASS WILL STALL AND/OR BUCK AND ALMOST STALL SOON AFTERWARDS. IT'S A VERY DANGEROUS SCENARIO THAT LEAVES ME WITHOUT POWER STEERING USUALLY IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. THE PROBLEM SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM AMONG JEEPS/CHRYSLER PRODUCTS BECAUSE THERE ARE MANY REFERENCES TO THE ISSUE ONLINE. THE 2007 JEEP COMPASS PURCHASED AS MY DAUGHTERS FIRST CAR HAS EXPERIENCED STALLING ISSUES UPON REFUELING FROM DAY ONE. THE CAR WAS SERVICED BY THE SELLING DEALERSHIP, BRANDON HONDA, ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS AND NO REPAIR WAS DEEMED NECESSARY. I WAS ADVISED THE CAR WAS ALSO SENT TO A NEIGHBORING JEEP DEALER AND THE ISSUE COULD NOT BE DUPLICATED. I THEN TOOK THE CAR TO A DIFFERENT JEEP DEALER, JERRY ULM AND WAS ADVISED THE ISSUE WAS IDENTIFIED WITH THE FIRST CODE RETURNED. THE CANISTER AND SOLENOID WAS REPLACED IN 5/16 AND THE CAR DID NOT STALL AGAIN UNTIL DECEMBER. A COUPLE OF WEEKS AGO UPON REFUELING THE CAR STALLED AGAIN. THE CAR HAS STALLED THREE MORE TIMES AND IS SCHEDULED TO BE SERVICED AT JERRY ULM AGAIN TOMORROW. THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS ONLINE, YET NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED FOR THIS EXTREME SAFETY ISSUE. MY CONCERN FOR THE SAFETY AND RELIABILITY OF THIS CAR IS AT AN ALL TIME HIGH DUE TO THE REOCCURRENCE AND NO WARNING OF THE STALL- THE CAR JUST SHUTS DOWN SILENTLY. I APPRECIATE YOUR TIME.
I WAS TRYING TO PULL OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY AND IT WOULD HARDLY MOVE FORWARD, OR PULL AHEAD BACK IN THE DRIVEWAY. HAD IT TOWED TO THE GARAGE AND THEY LOOKED AT IT AND SAID ITS WIRING AND TRANSMISSION.
THE FRONT LEFT SIDE HAS COME APART 2 TIMES FROM THE BALL JOINT AND A FRAME. TODAY IT FELT AND SOUNDED THE SAME I TOOK IT IN TO A SHOP IMMEDIATELY BECAUSE I DID NOT WANT THE FRONT TIRE COMING OF AGAIN. THE MECHANIC PUT IT UP ON THE LIFT AND CAME AND GOT ME. THE ENGINE CRADLE IS TOTALLY ROTTEN THIS IS WERE ALL OF YOUR FRONT END PART ARE HELD IN PLACE. THE SAID THING IS I STILL OWE 2 MORE YEARS ON THIS JEEP WHAT CAN I DO!!??.
THE VEHICLE WITH APPROX 120000 MILES ON IT IN 11/2015 HAD THE PASSENGER SIDE AND DRIVERS SIDE BALL JOINTS REPLACED. IN 4/2016 THE PASSENGER SIDE BALL JOINT FAILED AND PULLED OUT OF THE STEERING KNUCKLE AS I BACKED OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY, I HAD IT REPLACED. TWO WEEKS LATER THE DRIVER SIDE BALL JOINT PULLED OUT AS I MADE A RIGHT HAND TURN INTO A WALMART PARKING LOT. THE FAILURE CAUSED MY STRUT TO BE BENT, THE INNER AND OUTER TIE RODS TO BE TWISTED AROUND THE HALF SHAFT DRIVE AXLE, AND THE DRIVE AXLE TO BE PULLED OUT OF THE TRANSMISSION. MY LOWER CONTROL ARM NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AS WELL. LUCKILY MOST OF THE DAMAGE WAS COVERED UNDER MY INSURANCE. IF IT HAD HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY I'D HAVE NEEDED A CASKET AND AN UNDERTAKER AS WELL! YESTERDAY I WENT TO GET AN ALIGNMENT DONE - AND TO CHECK AS TO WHAT WAS MAKING A CLUNKING SOUND UNDER THE FRONT END - I WAS TOLD I NEED A NEW PASSENGER SIDE LOWER CONTROL ARM, INNER AND OUTER TIE ROD ENDS AND A NEW LOWER BALL JOINT... YET AGAIN! THE THIRD BALL JOINT IN TWO YEARS!!! THIS AUTO I BOUGHT USED FOR $8K IS TURNING OUT TO COST ME TWICE THAT AMOUNT IN REPAIRS. I HAVE NOT DONE A "CARFAX" ON THIS VEHICLE TO DETERMINE HOW MANY TIMES THE FRONT END SUSPENSION ITEMS WERE REPLACED PRIOR MY PURCHASE OF THIS VEHICLE. HOWEVER, HAVING OWNED THIS CAR FOR ONLY A YEAR AND A HALF, IT HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP NEARLY EVERY TWO MONTHS FOR CRITICAL STRUCTURAL, OR ENGINE REPAIRS. FRONT CROSS MEMBER RUSTED OUT. ENTIRE FRAME RUSTING MAKING CAR VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE I AM HAVEING FRONT MEMBER REPLACED BUT BECAUSE OF RUST CAR IS REALLY UNSAFE TO DRIVE AT HIWAY SPEEDS.
WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE NEW IN JANUARY 2008. IT HAS LESS THAN 100,000 MILES ON IT. THE JEEP HAS BEEN A VERY RELIABLE VEHICLE, UNTIL RECENTLY. WITHIN THE PAST MONTH, IT HAS STALLED ON US FIVE TIMES (TWICE ON A FOUR LANE HIGHWAY), NO MALFUNCTION LIGHT. WHEN IT STALLS, THE STEERING WHEEL LOCKS UP. ALSO, WHEN REFUELING THE TANK, THE PUMP SHUT OFFS AFTER EVERY $0.10-$0.20 WORTH OF GAS. REFUELING THE TANK TAKES APPROXIMATELY 10-15 MINUTES. ORIGINALLY, WE BELIEVED IT WAS THE PUMPS AT A CERTAIN GAS STATION; HOWEVER, TRIPS TO NUMEROUS GAS STATIONS RESULTED IN THE SAME ISSUE. THE JEEP STALLS ONLY AFTER REFUELING. I BEGAN RESEARCHING ONLINE, AND I THOUGHT THE ISSUE MIGHT HAVE BEEN A CLOGGED EVAP SYSTEM. HOWEVER, WE BROUGHT IT TO OUR MECHANICS; UNFORTUNATELY, IT NEEDS A NEW FUEL TANK. THE REPAIR ESTIMATE TOTALS $1,131.07 FOR PARTS, LABOR, AND TAXES. OUR MECHANICS, THOUGHT THERE COULD HAVE BEEN A RECALL ON THE FUEL TANK, OR POSSIBLY AN EXTENDED MANUFACTURER'S WARRANTY, THERE WASN'T. I BEGAN RESEARCHING THE AFOREMENTIONED FUEL TANK ISSUE, I FOUND NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THE FUEL TANK. THE MANUFACTURER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUES FROM JEEP OWNERS, MYSELF INCLUDED. WHY HAS FCA US, LLC "CHRYSLER" NOT ISSUED A RECALL? DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO BE INJURED OR WORSE FOR CHRYSLER TO TAKE NOTICE? THIS DEFECT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, AND I BELIEVE IT MUST BE ADDRESSED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMPASS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL BURNING ODOR AND HEAT COMING FROM THE SEAT WHEN THE DRIVER SIDE SEAT HEATER WAS ACTIVATED. THE CONTACT FELT A PINCH COMING FROM THE SEAT AS WELL. UPON INSPECTION, THE CONTACT NOTICED A HOLE BURNED INTO THE SEAT AND THE CONTACT'S JACKET. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE CONTACT TURNED OFF THE SEAT HEATER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. AN INVESTIGATOR WAS SENT FROM CHRYSLER TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE, BUT THE DIAGNOSIS WAS NOT DISCLOSED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 113,000.

STARTED HEARING CLUNKING NOISE UNDERNEATH THE FRONT. TOOK TO MECHANIC IMMEDIATELY AND HE SAID MY FRONT CROSSMEMBER WAS RUSTED OUT. HE TOLD ME JEEP COMPASS HAD ISSUED A EXTENDED WARRANTY ON THE PROBLEM. T.S.B 23-012-14 IS THE SERVICE BULLETIN NUMBER. MY MECHANIC ADVISED ME THAT IT WAS NOT SAFE TO DRIVE AND I WAS LUCKY TO EVEN GET IT THERE. I CALLED MY LOCAL CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP DEALER TO GET PROBLEM FIXED. THEY TOLD ME IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY AND I ARRANGED A TOW TO GET IT THERE. HOWEVER ABOUT 10 MINUTES LATER THE DEALER SAID IT WOULD NOT BE COVERED BECAUSE IT WAS NOT PURCHASED IN ONE OF THE SALT BELT STATES BUT WAS BUILT IN THE TIME FRAME UNDER WARRANTY. IT WAS BOUGHT IN V.A. AND WAS NOT COVERED, BUT WEST VIRGINIA IS COVERED AND THAT IS ONLY 62 MILES OR ABOUT A 50 MINUTES. IN MY OPINION ANY JEEP SHOULD BE COVERED FOR THE DEFECT IF THEY HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM ESPECIALLY IF THEY WAS BUILT AT THE SAME TIME. WHEN I SEEN THAT PART I COULD NOT BELIEVE HOW FAR GONE IT WAS. SCARY REALLY. MY FAMILY LIVING IS JUST AS IMPORTANT AS ALL THE OTHER FAMILIES IN THE SALT BELT STATES.

IN ADDITION, THE FRONT BALL JOINTS AND STRUTS WERE CORRODED AND ALSO NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE WHY THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE STRUTS AND BALL JOINTS WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 57,000.

THE CONTACT WAS TO CALL THE MANUFACTURER REGARDING THE VEHICLE OWNER SCHEDULING A REPAIR WITH THE DEALER. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
