CROSS MEMBER-NOTICED WHILE DRIVING AND TOOK 2 WEEKS BEFORE DEALERSHIP COULD GET MY APPOINTMENT RIGHT TO GET IT TAKEN CARE OF SINCE IT WAS RECALLED 7. TIPM IS GOING. LOST POWER TO 2/2 OUTLETS IN THE VEHICLE. 8. CV AXLE IS GOING. SOUNDS REALLY BAD AND SOUNDS LIKE BOTH PASSENGER AND DRIVER SIDE. TREATED THIS VEHICLE WITH LOTS OF CARE AND SO DID PREVIOUS OWNER. THIS TELLS ME THIS IS NOT A RELIABLE VEHICLE AND A SAFE VEHICLE I CAN DRIVE MY DAUGHTER IN.
I DROVE FOR SEVERAL HOURS WHEN MY CAR STARTED SLIDING TO THE SIDE. I STOPPED TO CHECK AND BOTH MY BACK TIRES WERE ANGLED INWARD AND COMPLETELY RUINED. I TOOK THE CAR TO A MECHANIC FOR ALIGNMENT, BUT HE COULD NOT MOVE THE PARTS DUE TO AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF RUST. HE MENTIONED THAT THE WHOLE SUBFRAME AND ARMS HAD HEAVY CORROSION AND WHOLE AND THE PIECES COULD BREAK ANYTIME SOON AND I SHOULD NOT BE DRIVING THE CAR. AN EXTENDED WARRANTY IS APPLICABLE TO THE K FRAME FOR THE MODEL OF MY CAR BUT JEEP WILL NOT HONOR THE WARRANTY ON MY PARTICULAR VEHICLE. I HAVEN'T DROVE THE CAR SINCE.
BRAKE LITE CAME ON, WENT OUT. COMES ON AND OFF EVERY SO OFTEN.
MY 2007 JEEP COMPASS HORN WOULD NOT STOP BLOWING. THE DEALER DISABLED IT AND THE CAR WOULD GO IN THE NEXT DAY. OVER 5 DAYS IT HAD TO BE JUMPED 4X AS THE JEEP WAS DEAD TRYING TO GET IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. IT WAS NOT THE BATTERY AND AFTER 5 HOURS THE DEALERSHIP SAID IT WAS A FIXABLE BECAUSE IT NEEDED A HORN SWITCH. THE PROBLEM IS THAT NO ONE HAS A HORN SWITCH FOR IT. THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER..THERE ARE 527 ORDERS FOR IT WITH NO DELIVERY DATE IN SIGHT. YOU CANNOT DRIVE THE VEHICLE WITH THE HORN BLOWING OR WITH IT DISABLED OR RUN THE SAFETY RISK OF NEEDING THE HORN OR THE JEEP DYING ON YOU MID ROUTE. IT HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR 20 PLUS DAYS. JEEP NOT HAVING THIS PART OR DEALERS GETTING ACCESS TO IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I HAD MY VEHICLE IN FOR REGULAR MAINTENANCE AND THE MECHANIC INFORMED ME THE FRONT AND REAR SUBFRAME IS ROTTEN AND HAVE HOLES IN THEM. HE FURTHER STATED THIS IS NOT NORMAL FOR A VEHICLE OF THIS AGE AND I SHOULD REPORT THE PROBLEM AND CALL CHRYSLER AS THIS CAN CAUSE SERIOUS PROBLEMS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2007 JEEP COMPASS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNKNOWN SPEED, THE VEHICLE CAUGHT FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED AND TOWED TO A SALVAGE YARD. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGES WAS 98,000.
I BOUGHT A USED 2007 JEEP COMPASS 4X4 FOR MY SON IN APRIL 2015. HE IS JUST LEARNING TO DRIVE. AFTER FILLING UP THE GAS TANK AND PULLING OUT OF THE GAS STATION THE CAR SLOWED TO AN IDLE, STEERING WHEEL LOCKED, AND THE CAR STALLED. IT TURNED BACK ON BUT COULD HARDLY MAKE A TURN ONTO THE STREET WITHOUT ALMOST STALLING AGAIN. ONCE IT STARTED GOING A FEW MILES UP THE ROAD IT DID NOT STALL. THIS HAPPENED EVERY TIME WE FILLED THE TANK. WE CANNOT FILL THE TANK. I AM VERY SCARED TO LET AN ALMOST 16 YEAR OLD DRIVE A CAR THAT IS SO DANGEROUS AND FEAR HE MAY GET KILLED WHEN THE CAR STALLS. HE WILL BE DRIVING THIS CAR TO SCHOOL EVERY DAY AND WITH WINTER APPROACHING QUICKLY I WILL BE PRAYING. HE KNOWS NOT TO FILL IT ALL THE WAY UP BUT I DON'T FEEL THIS SHOULD BE THE CASE FOR ANYONE. I PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY BUT THIS ISSUE IS NOT COVERED. I ALSO MENTIONED THIS ISSUE TO SEVERAL MECHANICS AND THEY HAVE NO IDEA WHAT IS CAUSING THIS TO HAPPEN.
SO SINCE I'VE PURCHASED MY VEHICLE. ALL I CAN HEAR IS CLUNKING NOISES AS IF THERE ARE NO SHOCKS OR SUSPENSION TO THIS 2007 JEEP COMPASS 4X4. I BRING MY VEHICLE FOR AN OIL CHANGE AND THE MECHANIC TELLS ME THAT THE FRONT AND REAR SUB FRAMES ARE COMPLETED ROTTED. THESE SUB FRAMES FROM WHAT I KNOW IS VERY DANGEROUS IF NOT TAKEN CARE OF. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMPASS 4X4. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT HEARD AN ABNORMAL NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT IT NEEDED AN ALIGNMENT AND THE PASSENGER SIDE INNER TIE ROD, FRONT SWAY BAR LINKS, AND STRUTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE RACK AND PINION NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 113,774.
I BOUGHT A 07 JEEP COMPASS FROM A PRIVATE DEALERSHIP LESS THAN A YEAR AND A HALF AGO AND TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC BEFORE PURCHASING AND NO PROBLEMS WERE FOUND. ON TUESDAY OF LAST WEEK A WEIRD NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE ENGINES HIKE DRIVING AROUND TOWN AND AFTER TAKING IT TO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP/SERVICE REPAIR CENTER THE ISSUE WAS IN MY TRANSMISSION AND IT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED COMPLETELY. ..UPDATED 05/19/15*BF *TR
AFTER FILLING UP VEHICLE IT STALLS OUT WITHIN TWO MILES IT HAPPENS AFTER EVERY FILL UP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMPASS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC, WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE KEY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 41,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
SHORTLY AFTER REFUELING, THE CAR STALLED OUT WHEN IDLING AT A STOP LIGHT. THIS STALLING HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES AFTER THIS, ALWAYS IMMEDIATELY AFTER REFILLING THE TANK. USUALLY THE CAR WILL STALL SHORTLY AFTER YOU DRIVE AWAY FROM THE GAS STATION AND SLOW DOWN OR COME TO A STOP. THE CAR WILL START UP AGAIN BUT MAY STALL AGAIN IF YOU ONLY TRAVEL A SHORT DISTANCE AND SLOW DOWN OR STOP. THE NEXT TIME YOU DRIVE, THE CAR IS USUALLY OK AND HAS NO FURTHER PROBLEMS UNTIL THE TANK IS FILLED AGAIN. AFTER READING SEVERAL INTERNET FORUMS, THIS PROBLEM IS QUITE COMMON TO CHRYSLER VEHICLES. THE PROBLEM IS THE VAPOR/LIQUID SEPARATOR VALVE LOCATED AT THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK. THE VALVE FAILS AND ALLOWS LIQUID INTO THE CHARCOAL CANISTER/EMISSIONS SYSTEM. LIQUID FUEL THEN GETS SENT INTO THE MANIFOLD INTAKE BY MISTAKE WHICH STALLS THE CAR OUT. THIS COULD BE A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE IF THE CAR STALLS WHILE YOU ARE TURNING INTO TRAFFIC AND IT ALSO CAUSES YOU TO LOSE STEERING AND BRAKING POWER. IT IS OBVIOUSLY A DESIGN FLAW BY CHRYSLER AND THE ONLY FIX IS TO HAVE A WHOLE NEW GAS TANK INSTALLED BECAUSE THERE ISN'T A WAY TO JUST REPLACE JUST THE FAULTY VALVE. IT IS BUILT IN TO THE TANK. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMPASS. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN ATTEMPTING TO REFUEL THE VEHICLE, THE FUEL VALVE SHUT OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THE FUEL TANK NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. AFTER REFUELING, VEHICLE STARTS UP AND DRIVES AS NORMAL FOR A SHORT TIME UNTIL REACHING THE FIRST STOP OR STOPLIGHT, AT WHICH POINT THE ENGINE RETURNS TO IDLE. THE ENGINE WILL BEGIN TO SPUTTER/WEAKEN (FULL FOOT ON THE GAS BUT REACTS AS IF IT IS ONLY DOWN 1/4 OF THE WAY), THE OIL LIGHT TURNS ON, AND THEN SUBSEQUENTLY DIES WHILE STILL IN DRIVE. THIS HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 5 TIMES SINCE THIS FIRST OCCURRED ON JAN. 31, 2015. EVERY TIME IT OCCURS, IT IS IMMEDIATELY AFTER REFUELING, DESPITE USING DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS AND BRANDS. FIRST EVEN OCCURRED WHILE I WAS TURNING LEFT FROM A LIGHT INTO ANOTHER PARKING LOT. (SPUTTER, THEN DIED) ANOTHER EVENT WAS WHILE I WAS IDLING AT A RED LIGHT. (ENGINE COMPLETELY DIED) THE MOST RECENT EVENT OCCURRED WHILE I WAS DRIVING 45 MPH DOWN THE ROAD, AND IT BEGAN TO SPUTTER AND WEAKEN AFTER THEN MAKING A RIGHT HAND TURN, UPON WHICH I PULLED THE CAR OVER IN THE ROAD, TURNED THE ENGINE OFF AND THEN BACK ON AGAIN. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN INCREDIBLY DANGEROUS IF I HAD BEEN ON A HIGHWAY.
WHILE DRIVING ON I-30 AT 70 MPH, MY JEEP JUST DIED. NO WARNING SIGN OF ANY KIND, JUST COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN, WHICH ALMOST CAUSED SEVERAL WRECKS. I GOT TO THE MEDIAN, WAITED ABOUT 10 MINUTES, IT STARTED AND I DROVE ABOUT 20 MORE MILES, THEN IT HAPPENED AGAIN. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR ABOUT A MONTH, TOOK IT TO THE LOCAL MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS PUT ON THE COMPUTER, COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. I HAD HIM (MECHANIC) KEEP IT TILL IT HAPPENED TO HIM. FINALLY IT DID, TOOK THE FUEL PUMP OFF AND THE PLUG WAS MELTED, AS WELL AS MELTED A HOLE IN THE FUEL PUMP. HE STATED HE IS SURPRISED WE DIDN'T BLOW UP. I PLAN ON TAKING THE BURNED PLUG & PUMP TO THE DODGE HOUSE ON MONDAY, VERY DANGEROUS VEHICLE! *TR
APPROXIMATELY 9 MONTHS AGO THE HORN ON MY 2007 JEEP COMPASS BEGAN SOUNDING AT RANDOM. IT WAS DISCONNECTED AND IN 2014 IT WAS TAKEN TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP (ATLANTIC AUTO GROUP, NORTHFIELD NJ). I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE HORN PAD AND THEY WOULD ORDER THE PART. A FEW DAYS LATER I WAS TOLD THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER AND WOULD BE IN AT THE END OF JANUARY. FROM THERE I WAS CONTINUOUSLY TOLD IT WAS ON BACK ORDER UNTIL NOW JUNE 12TH 2015 WHEN I WAS TOLD THERE ARE OVER 30,000 ON BACK ORDER AND ESTIMATED SHIP TIME IN AUGUST 23RD 2015 (AS PER ATLANTIC AUTO). NEEDLESS TO SAY I CONTACTED CHRYSLER WHO TOLD ME THEY ARE SWITCHING MANUFACTURERS AND DO NOT HAVE ANY TIMELINE AS TO WHEN THIS PART WILL BE IN. I CURRENTLY STILL DO NOT HAVE A HORN AND HAVE BEEN OFFERED NO HELP IN THE MATTER OTHER THAN LOOKING IN A SALVAGE YARD FOR ANOTHER ONE. I DRIVE AROUND WITH 2 YOUNG CHILDREN IN MY CAR EVERYDAY AND I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED ABOUT HOW THIS SITUATION IS BEING HANDLED ESPECIALLY SINCE IT SEEMS I AM NOT THE ONLY ONE (30,000 ON BACK ORDER) !!
VEHICLE DOES NOT ACCEPT FUEL EASILY AS PUMP SHUTS DOWN WHILE TRYING TO FILL TANK. INFORMED WILL NEED NEW GAS TANK AT MY EXPENSE AS POSSIBLY FILTER IN TANK IS DEFECTIVE. WITH CURRENT TEMPERATURES BELOW FREEZING MUCH OF THE TIME IT IS POSSIBLE THAT VEHICLE MAY RUN OUT OF FUEL IN A RURAL AREA WITHOUT WARNING. POSSIBILITY OF EXPOSURE TO EXTREMELY LOW TEMPERATURES. I HAVE NEVER HAD TO REPLACE A GAS TANK IN OVER 50 YEARS OF DRIVING MANY DIFFERENT MAKES AND MODELS! *TR
I HAD A REAR LEFT WHEEL BEARING AND HUB ASSEMBLY REMOVED AND REPLACED BECAUSE OF THE VERY LOUD NOISES IT PRODUCED. THEN HE ALSO TOLD ME AT THAT TIME, I WOULD ALSO NEED A RIGHT REAR WHEEL BEARING DONE, AND REAR BRAKES. I ALREADY HAD MY FRONT BRAKES REPLACED. IN ADDITION A TIE ROD REPLACED AS WELL AND ALSO LOWER LEFT AND LOWER RIGHT CONTROL ARMS REPLACED. NOT TO MENTION A WHEEL ALIGNMENT TO BOOT BECAUSE I JUST PUT ON 4 NEW TIRES. NOW WITH EVERYTHING I HAVE HEARD I'M WORRIED ABOUT MY BALL JOINTS, WILL THEY BE NEXT? I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE DUMB CAR, I DON'T GO FOR ANY TRIPS OR ANYTHING, I AM A SENIOR WHO HASN'T MUCH MONEY BUT I WOULD LIKE TO BE SAFE. WHY AREN'T THEY MAKING JEEP DO A RECALL ON THESE CARS? TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMPASS. WHILE DRIVING AT 65 MPH, ALL THE LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER PANEL FAILED TO FUNCTION AND THE HEADLIGHTS DIMMED, WHICH DIMINISHED THE CONTACT'S VISIBILITY. IN ADDITION, TWO WEEKS LATER WHILE DRIVING AT 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND FUEL CAP WAS DISPLAYED ON THE MESSAGE BOARD. THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ALSO ACTIVATED INDEPENDENTLY AND THE RADIATOR FANS CONTINUED TO FUNCTION AFTER THE KEY WAS EJECTED FROM THE IGNITION. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 172,000.
.MY 2007 JEEP COMPASS 4X4 LTD STALL WHEN I FUEL IT UP. I HAVE REPLACED BOTH SENDING UNITS AND THE VAPOR CANISTER. MY MECHANIC SAYS THE ROLLOVER VALVE IN THE TANK NEEDS TO BE REPLACED SINCE THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH OTHER JEEP COMPASS AND PATRIOT VEHICLES. MY MECHANIC MUST REPLACE THE GAS TANK AS THE ROLLOVER VALVE CANNOT BE REPLACED TO AVOID THIS PROBLEM IN THE FUTURE. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH BOTH OF THESE VEHICLES AND CAN CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. VEHICLE STALLS EVERY TIME WHEN COMING TO A STOP DIRECTLY AFTER FUELING VEHICLE. IT WILL STALL 4-6 TIMES BUT WILL START BACK UP WITH NO PROBLEMS. AFTER VEHICLE HAS BEEN ON THE ROAD WITH RPM'S UP FOR A FEW MINUTES THE PROBLEM GOES AWAY. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS TO PULL OUT INTO TRAFFIC OR TRYING TO TURN A CORNER AND HAVE YOUR VEHICLE STALL. SINCE ABOUT NOVEMBER 2011, MY 2007 JEEP COMPASS HAS STALLED OUT AFTER REFUELING WHEN I FILL THE GAS TANK. IT DOES NOT STALL OUT IF I DO NOT FILL THE TANK ALL THE WAY. IT HAS BEEN INSPECTED BY TWO DIFFERENT CHRYSLER DEALERSHIPS IN 2012 AND 2014 AND BOTH FALSELY ACCUSED ME OF OVERFILLING THE TANK. NO ONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
I WAS DRIVING INTO THE PARKING LOT AT WALMART AND THE CAR ACTUALLY TURNED ITSELF OFF. I COASTED INTO THE PARKING SPOT AND WAITED A FEW MINUTES. I TURNED THE IGNITION AGAIN AND THE CAR TURNED ON AND THEN TURNED BACK OFF. I CALL AAA AND THEY TOWED THE CAR TO NTB. THEY HOOKED THE CAR UP AND STATED THEY COULDN'T FIND A PROBLEM. THEY STARTED THE CAR AND IT STARTED FINE. AFTER I LEFT, I GOT MAYBE 3 MILES DOWN THE ROAD AND THE CAR TURNED OFF. I CALLED NTB AND THEY WERE ICE ENOUGH TO COME TO WHERE I WAS. THEY WERE ABLE TO START THE CAR; HOWEVER, AS SOON AS HE BACKED UP TO TURN AROUND THE CAR STALLED AGAIN. HE TOLD ME TO LEAVE THE CAR, BUT IT'S HARD TO DO THAT WHEN THEY THEMSELVES DON'T KNOW WHAT'S WRONG AND HAVE NO CLUE AS TO THE COST. WE SAT FOR 10 MINUTES AND THE CAR STARTED WITH NO PROBLEM. I DROVE HOME WITH NO MORE INCIDENTS. FOR THE NEXT 4 DAYS NOTHING HAPPENED. ON THE 5TH DAY, IN TRAFFIC ON 459N WHICH IS HEAVY AND CRAZY, THE CAR JUST SHUT OFF AGAIN ALMOST CAUSING THE CAR BEHIND ME, WHO WAS TOO CLOSE ANYWAY, TO HIT ME. I PULLED OVER AND HAD THE CAR TOWED HOME WHERE IT'S SITTING NOW. I HAVE GONE OUT TO CRANK IT AND IT TURNS OVER, BUT I'M NOT DRIVING IT. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT THIS SATURDAY TO TAKE IT TO A JEEP DEALERSHIP ON GRANTS MILLS WAY TO SEE IF THEY CAN FIND EXACTLY WHAT'S WRONG WIT THIS DEATHTRAP. WITHOUT WARNING, MY 2007 JEEP COMPASS COMPLETELY DIED AND WOULD NOT START. I HAD IT TOWED TO A MECHANIC WHO INITIALLY THOUGHT IT WAS THE COMPUTER. AFTER FURTHER TESTING, HOWEVER, THEY DETERMINED THAT THE TOTALLY INTEGRATED POWER MODULE (TPIM) WAS DEFECTIVE AND HAD ALSO FRIED OUT THE COMPUTER, REQUIRING THAT BOTH PARTS BE REPLACED FOR A TOTAL OF NEARLY $2,000. GIVEN THAT THIS IS A DEFECT THAT MANY JEEP USERS ARE EXPERIENCING, THE PART IS ON BACK ORDER AND I'VE BEEN WITHOUT A VEHICLE FOR MY 3 YEAR-OLD DAUGHTER FOR NEARLY 2 WEEKS. THE JEEP COULD HAVE STALLED OUT WHILE DRIVING OR COULD HAVE LEFT US STRANDED. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO ISSUE A RECALL ON THEIR FAULTY TPIM'S AND REPLACE ALL THE DAMAGE THAT THEY CAUSE! *TR
HAD VEHICLE IN SHOP TO DO A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND TIRE ROTATION, WAS TOLD THAT BOTH LOWER BALL JOINTS WERE BAD AND THEY WOULD NOT RECOMMEND DRIVING VEHICLE WAS 40 MILES FROM HOME WITH NO WAY TO GET THERE HAD TO DRIVE THEY SAY IT WAS UNUSUAL FOR BOTH TO GO AT THAT LOW MILEAGE BUT THE COULD NOT FIND A RECALL SO I GOOGLED THE PROBLEM THERE IS NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS OF THIS. THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD THEY NEED TO RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE IS HURT OR KILLED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP COMPASS. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE CLUTCH BECAME STUCK AND PREVENTED THE TRANSMISSION FROM SHIFTING FROM THIRD TO FOURTH GEAR. THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS AIR IN THE CLUTCH MASTER CYLINDER. THE MECHANIC REMOVED THE AIR OUT OF THE SYSTEM, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED AND THE CLUTCH BECAME STUCK IN REVERSE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 106,000.
I WAS DRIVING IN MY NEIGHBORHOOD THEN WENT OVER A SMALL BUMP AND MY CAR STOPPED. I LOST POWER STEERING AND ALL MY DASHBOARD LIGHTS CAME ON. ONCE THE VEHICLE STOPPED I TOOK THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION AND TRIED TO START IT AGAIN. I HAD POWER BUT MY ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN OVER. THIS HAPPENS ON A DAILY BASIS. MY CAR STARTS WHEN IT WANTS TOO. THIS CAR REQUIRES A LOT OF SUSPENSION WORK, I CURRENTLY HAVE 87,000 MILES ON MY CAR NOW , (FAIRLY LOW) MY CAR NOW STALLS OUT WHEN I STOP FOR A RED LIGHT,IT HAS EVEN PUTTED AS IF THE GAS ISN'T CIRCULATING TO THE ENGINE, 'MAJOR ISSUES". *TR

THE CONTACT SUSTAINED A NECK INJURY FROM THE AIR BAG DEPLOYMENT. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,000.
MY VEHICLE STARTED LOSING POWER INTERMITTENTLY. IT WOULD REMAIN RUNNING, BUT WOULD NOT RESPOND TO ACCELERATION AND THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT WOULD FLASH. AT FIRST, THIS WAS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM, SOLVED BY PULLING OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, TURNING THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTING IT. EVENTUALLY, THIS BECAME AN EVERYDAY OCCURRENCE, UNTIL EVENTUALLY, THE CAR WOULD NOT EVEN START DUE TO THIS PROBLEM. I HAD TO HAVE IT TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP, AND THEY REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY, WHICH SOLVED THE PROBLEM. I HAVE NOTICED SEVERAL RECALLS FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM FOR MY YEAR AND MAKE AND MODEL, BUT THE DATABASE STATES THAT MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, AS I HAVE HAD TO PULL OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD SEVERAL TIMES IN FAST-MOVING TRAFFIC ON NARROW SHOULDERS.
THE WIPERS HAVE STOPPED WORKING TOOK IT TO A DEALER SHOP AND WAS TOLD IT WAS THE TIPM MODULAR WHICH AFTER LOOKING INTO IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE VEHICLES THIS IS A PRICEY FIX AND SHOULD HAVE A RECALL ON THIS. *TR
UPON AN INSPECTION OF THE UNDERNEATH OF MY 2007 JEEP COMPASS, IT WAS FOUND THAT MY FRONT SUB FRAME (ALSO KNOWN AS THE K FRAME) HAS SERIOUS RUST ISSUES. THERE IS ACTUALLY A SECTION ON THE BACK SIDE OF THE SUB FRAME THAT HAS RUSTED OUT (APPROX. 1/2 INCH BY 4 INCH IN SIZE). AFTER SOME INVESTIGATING ISSUES WITH THIS VEHICLE ON THE INTERNET, I FOUND THAT THIS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE AND THAT JEEP HAS NOT RECALLED THIS ISSUE. I WILL BE REPLACING THE PART BECAUSE THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE WITH THIS VEHICLE. *TR
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, I IMMEDIATELY TOOK IT TO A LOCAL SHOP, THEY INVESTIGATED THE CAUSE OF THE ALARM, AND DISCOVERED THAT THE CODE HAD TO DO WITH THE EVAPORATOR SYSTEM, OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT, WHICH I THINK MONITORS RETURN VAPORS AND HAS SOMETHING TO DO WITH EMISSION CONTROLS. THEY DISCOVERED, AFTER TRACING THE CAUSE OF THE AIR LEAKAGE, THAT THE FUEL PUMP MODULE, WHICH IS PLASTIC, WAS BURNT AND DISTENDED DUE TO AN OVERHEATING FUEL PUMP. THIS APPARATUS IS AT THE TOP OF THE FUEL TANK AND CAN BE ACCESSED THROUGH A "TRAP DOOR" BENEATH THE SECOND SEATS. VAPOR WAS BEING EMITTED AT THAT POINT. THERE WAS NEVER ANY WARNING OR SOUNDS TO INDICATE THE FUEL PUMP WAS OVERHEATING. THE FUEL PUMP AND FUEL MODULE ARE BEING REPLACED AND THE TECHNICIANS THINK THIS WILL FIX THE PROBLEM. APPARENTLY I WAS LUCKY THAT NO VAPORS IGNITED BECAUSE THE GAS TANK PROBABLY WOULD HAVE BLOWN UP. BY GOING ON THE INTERNET I HAVE DISCOVERED OTHER JEEP COMPASS OWNERS HAVE ALSO HAD THIS CONDITION HAPPEN TO THEM. *TR

2007 JEEP COMPASS STALLS AFTER REFUELING. THIS OCCURS NOT ONLY THEN BUT ABOUT THREE TO FOUR MORE TIMES WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AFTER REFUELING. ON TWO OCCASIONS THIS HAPPEN WHILE ENTERING BACK ON TO THE HIGHWAY, WHILE TRYING TO ACCELERATE UP TO SPEED. THIS FORCED ME TO QUICKLY RESTART THE ENGINE SO NOT TO BE REAR ENDED FROM BEHIND BY OTHER VEHICLES. I CHECKED WITH THE DEALER WHO TOLD ME TO CALL CHRYSLER AND LET THEM KNOW ONLY TO FIND THAT MY VEHICLE WAS NOT ON RECALL.I WAS TOLD TO TAKE MY JEEP INTO THE DEALER TO HAVE IT FIXED AND IF IT WAS LATER RECALLED THEY WOULD RETURN MY MONEY. I DO BELIEVE THAT CHRYSLER IS RISKING THE SAFETY OF THE GENERAL PUBLIC JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE NOT UP TO SPEED WITH RECALLING ALL THE EFFECTED VEHICLES AS THEY ARE INFORMED OF THE DEFECT. I WAS DRIVING TO ATLANTA ON 10/2/2013 & 11/6/2013 AND THE PANEL LIGHT CAME ON FOR THE TRANSMISSION OVERHEATING. I WAS DRIVING AROUND 75 MPH AND I HEARD A WINDING NOISE, I LOST POWER, AND MY RPM'S WENT TO 4/5. I HAD TO PULL OVER DUE TO THE FACT THAT I COULDN'T GET MY SPEED OVER 20-30 MPH. THE TEMP OUTSIDE WAS 68 DEGREES SO THE HEAT OUTSIDE DID NOT CONTRIBUTE TO THIS PROBLEM. THERE WAS A POINT WHEN IT WOULDN'T EVEN ACCELERATE. MY VEHICLE HAS AROUND 137,000 ON IT. AS THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO MOVE FORWARD, THE VEHICLE STALLED. THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE. THE AIR BAG WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE FAILURE WITH THE BRAKES RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
