As I was accelerating my vehicle began to downshift and warning started flashing and the parking brake engaged while driving. When slowed at an interesection the car would notaccelerate forward when light turned green despite being in drive. Dash showed parking brake engaged even though it was not. The D on the gear shift was flashing. I had to turn the car off twice and restart while in the middle of an intersection! This is the SECOND time this has happened while driving. I took it to the dealer first time and they could not find anything wrong.
I have done some research and found others that say they got the radio relaced for free because it is a safety Hazzard. The radio chooses options on its own such as the climate options and you can't change it when it happens. I can't keep the SOS app on the radio because it randomly chooses it. I have to keep it turned off and there are some things you cannot use without the radio. It controls all of the driver assist options.
The contact owns a 2017 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that while his wife was driving at undisclosed speeds, the vehicle stalled on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, no cause for the failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 42,000. The VIN was not available.
Issues staring the car, dealership makes me buy a new battery and that’s not the problem. Still after spending money on a new battery, it’s a problem. 13.4 v and it still has issues starting. Sometimes it starts and will NOT let me leave park. I am exhausted of these issues and constantly missing work because of this car the whole point in buying a 2017 car was for it to be reliable, and instead I’m having a problem even starting it!!!!
Question 1: The Auto stop start system went out last October or November and I couldn't get it into the shop with in the warranty because they wouldn't schedule it. After that in February my battery started dying and I had to replace my battery 5 times now. That's when starting in August all of my instrument cluster/panel would light up and it would start my lights on the inside of the car to flash, radio to start cracking and the doors locks switching back and forth. It then will start flashing the ABS warning. The ABS warning wont stay on but it will ding and flash about every 2-5 minutes. Then it will show the pull over safely vehicle ill shut off soon and begin locking up my front driver side tire and rip you into on coming traffic. Then it will start going into limp mode and then revving up on its own. Question 2: The tire being squeezed by the brake will rip you around and start turning the whole car into the other lane/ oncoming traffic. It will also start shutting down. Question 3: A mechanic at O'Reilly's ran system diagnostic and then looked it up and saw that Campaign NO: 17V740000 and Campaign NO: 17V301000. Question 4: No. Question 5: The only issue started in October/ November of 2021 and that was the start stop system went out and the dealership wouldn't see me and told us not to worry because it wasn't important. Then the battery dying every couple of weeks and constantly needing jumped or replaced. Then came the the ABS warning and then the whole car shutting down and locking the drivers wheel up in August.
Touch screen on radio/dash is delaminating causing ghost touches. The delamination has caused issues with AC/heating since it glitches and presses what it wants.
On July 9th 2022 the car showed a low oil pressure warning then shut down going around a curve but I was able to restart the vehicle. Within a few minutes I was stopped at an intersection and the car stalled again and I was unable to restart it which resulted in my car being rear ended. On July 12 th I contacted my Jeep dealership to discuss this and I was told that a recall was done on the car due to this same problem. Apparently the repair did not fully correct the problem as it happened to me AFTER the completed recall. Fortunately no one was seriously injured this time but…
The throttle body started malfunctioning while driving on the highway. Power was lost and I was unable to accelerate. There were vehicles behind me that had to react quickly in order not to wreck. The ETC warning light did not come on at first but as my vehicle kept sputtering the light would flash on and off very quickly. I lost a great deal of speed trying to get up a hill so I could pull over and get out of traffic. After looking up the light in the manual it says to cycle the ignition and I did that. The vehicle was working ok again for a few minutes and then suddenly lost the ability to accelerate again and would go in and out, sputtering. Again thankfully the vehicles behind me were paying attention and were able to immediately slow down. I have only had the vehicle for 3 months and of course as soon as there is no warranty it starts messing up. A mechanic did confirm the issue and yes it’s available for inspection.
Engine hesitates on acceleration, throttle assembly warning light comes on, traction stability warning light comes on.
Uconnect infotainment system random changing climate settings, radio stations, not working at all, incorrect navigation. Digitizer has de-laminated causing random actions. Very bad safety hazard, besides being distracting while driving.
Engine shuts down while driving. I could be in traffic and car just shuts down, could cause major accident if I'm not by side of road or on highway! I brought it to my mechanic. The oil pressure low light came on only once .... not even due for oil change!
I got my 2017 jeep compass in 2018 had no issues truly until about a year ago. The check engine light came on and it would jerk a little goin up hill well got a coder and it said o2 so I changed all the spark plugs and o2 and it still is on now the thunder bolt light flashes I loose power and the yellow skid mark comes on I have to turn car off let it reprogram like 10 min and it acts ok for a few min now it's so bad it won't even go 10 miles . I'm goin to have the throttle and sensor changed hopefully that fixes it.
The contact's wife owns a 2017 Jeep Compass. The contact stated that the center display screen delaminated and was activating functions independently. There was no warning light illuminated. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 30,000.
The uconnect system screen malfunctions and the screen turns black at times. The system can also make random loud noises while driving. The screen will also keep the backup camera on while you are in drive and cause a major distraction if you look at it. The uconnect screen also has delamination and has bubblin on the screen which is a common problem across many Jeep-Dodge-Ram-Chrysler models between the years of 2017-2019 with the research I have found. In my car it causes ghost movements and screen locking ehich can be incredibly dangerous and distracting.
Delamination of Uconnect radio causing multiple electronic malfunctions on vehicle, causing a safety issue. Problem has been reproduced and was confirmed by dealership on November 5th 2021. Issue first started in February of 2020.
My vehicle continually stalls when driving or at stop lights. Sometimes it will start back up other times I have to have it towed.
Was towed into shop on 4/13/20 jeep would not start, the dealer said it was the battery. Took to shop on 3/9/21 the jeep was stalling out at red light and would not start back up, it took several times to start on a busy highway! Dealer said oil was low and did a consumption test! On 8/17/21 the jeep stalled at a busy light and would not start back up, I had to call 911 to get a officer behind me so I wouldn’t get hit, I had to tow the jeep back to the dealer . The dealer said the oil was low again . On 10/4/21 the jeep stalled out again at the light and would not start it took me over 5 minutes to get it stated! The only light that came up was the transmission need service now, the dealer look at the jeep and said it was both batteries gone bad! My concern is it keeps stalling out at lights in drive and will not start back up! Which puts myself at risk of being hit from behind! Another thing is when this happens there is no warning lights coming up to let me know what is wrong!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2017 JEEP COMPASS. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE REVERSING, THE BACK UP CAMERA FAILED TO DISPLAY AN IMAGE. THE CONTACT STATED NO WARNING LIGHT WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THEY HAD THE CAMERA REPLACED TWO WEEKS PRIOR HOWEVER, THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AIRPORT CHRYSLER DODGE JEEP RAM (5751 EAGLE VAIL DRIVE, ORLANDO, FL 32822) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE RADIO NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 35,000.
I RAN A STOPLIGHT AND HIT ANOTHER VEHICLE GOING 25-35 MPH. MY AIRBAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THE POINT OF IMPACT WAS DRIVERS SIDE FRONT.
MY VEHICLE WENT FROM NOT BEING ABLE TO CONTROL ACCELERATION OR ACCELERATE AND MAKING A STRANGE SOUND WHILE IN MOTION WHILE THE RPM WAS STEADY GOING UP, TO NOT ACCELERATING AT ALL WHILE IN MOTION, TO NOT SHIFTING GEARS, TO NOT DOING ANYTHING IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS. I WAS ON THE HIGHWAY WHEN I FIRST NOTICED ALL OF THE PROBLEMS. I HAD TO PULL ON SIDE OF THE ROAD MULTIPLE TIMES. IT WAS SCARY AND DANGEROUS BEING ON SIDE OF THE ROAD AS A WOMAN AT NIGHT WITH VERY LITTLE LIGHTING IN THE AREA. WHEN THE VEHICLE DIDN'T WANT TO DO ANYTHING AT ALL IT WAS PARKED.
MY JEEP COMPASS IS HAVING ISSUES STARTING. I HAVE HAD TO TAKE IT TO THE MECHANIC TWICE IN THE PAST 3 WEEKS BECAUSE IT KEEPS NOT STARTING! I'VE TRIED JUMPING THE BATTERY AND NOTHING. IF IT SITS JUST ONE DAY WITHOUT IT BEING STARTED, IT WILL GO COMPLETELY DEAD AND WON'T TAKE A JUMP. AS OF RIGHT NOW, MY MECHANIC DOESN'T EVEN KNOW WHAT'S WRONG.
WHEN DRIVING, THE CAR WILL RANDOMLY NOT ACCELERATE ON THE HIGHWAY, WILL NOT ACCELERATE WHEN FIRST DRIVING AFTER TURNING THE VEHICLE ON, OR NOT ACCELERATE AFTER THE VEHICLE REACHES 40 MPH OR ABOVE. THE TRANSMISSION ALSO HAS HAD, SINCE FIRST PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, WHERE IT WILL RANDOMLY STALL OR HICCUP BEFORE SUDDENLY RECATCHING AND WORKING CORRECTLY.
THE JEEP WILL RANDOMLY DOWNSHIFT SO HARD IT WILL MAKE A TERRIBLE SOUND WHILE THROWING ALL PASSENGERS FORWARD. IT ALSO HAS DONE THIS SHIFTING UP AS WELL BUT IS MORE LIKELY TO DO IT WHILE DOWNSHIFTING. HAS ALREADY BEEN BROUGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS GIVEN A TRANSMISSION UPDATE ELECTRONICALLY BUT THINGS WERE JUST AS BAD THE DAY AFTER I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP SO I CAN ASSUME THAT THE UPDATES ARE NOT EFFECTIVE TO HANDLE THIS. FROM HOW HARD IT SHIFTS IT SOUNDS LIKE SOMETHING IS GOING TO SNAP.
I COULD NOT START MY JEEP FRIDAY MORNING BY PUSHING IGNITION BUTTON. THE DASHBOARD AND LIGHTS ALL CAME ON BUT THE JEEP WOULDN'T TURN OVER. YES, MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKES, TANK HAS GAS, DOOR WAS CLOSED. AFTER 3 FAILED ATTEMPTS I GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND TRIED STARTING JEEP WITH MY KEY FOB, NO LUCK. LOOKED INSIDE DASH AND IT READ AUTO START DISABLED. I TRIED TURNING OFF JEEP SINCE THE DASHBOARD AND LIGHTS WERE STILL ON AND NO LUCK, THEY STAYED ON. MY NEIGHBOR DROVE ME TO MY ORTHOPEDIC SURGEON APPT. WHEN WE RETURNED, THE JEEP WAS STILL ON AND MY FAMILY SHOWED UP TRYING THE FOLLOWING: CHANGE BATTERIES TO KEY FOB. CHECKED CABLES AND CAR BATTERY. AFTER THOSE THINGS THE DASHBOARD READ "PUT CAR IN PARK" MY CAR OF COURSE WAS IN PARK. I COULDN'T GET IT OUT OF PARK SINCE IT NEVER STARTED!!! I BOUGHT AT A DEALERSHIP IN MOBILE AL WHEN I LIVED IN BILOXI. CAN'T TAKE IT BACK TO THAT DEALERSHIP UNTIL AFTER HIP SURGERY HERE IN FLORIDA'S VA. PLEASE ADVISE. THANK YOU, [XXX]. WHILE PULLING OFF FROM A STOP, THE ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE TURNS ON BY ITSELF. THIS HAS OCCURRED MULTIPLE TIMES, TYPICALLY ON FLAT CITY STREET AT A RED LIGHT OR STOP SIGN. THE ONLY WAY TO GET THE CAR TO DRIVE IS TO RESTART THE ENGINE, BUT THIS SOMETIMES TAKES A FEW TIMES TO START.
ON 11/23/20 I WAS AT QUIRK CHRYSLER JEEP DEALER GETTING AN OIL CHANGE AND I WAS INFORMED THAT BOTH FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARMS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED THE VEHICLE HAS ONLY 33,906 MILES. 2018 JEEP COMPASS VEHICLES WERE RECALLED FOR THIS SAME ISSUE. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE TO HAVE THESE PARTS FAIL PREMATURELY.
TRANSMISSION SHIFTS BACK N FORTH VERY BAD. ONLY 71,649 MILES. NEED TO FIX IT. PLEASE.
I WAS GETTING ONTO THE FREEWAY GOT UP TO 60 MILES AN HOUR I SAW MY ALTERNATOR LIGHT BLINK THEN MY TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AND THE MOTOR LOST ALL POWER AND NOW THEY'RE TELLING ME THAT MY THROTTLE BODY IS BAD AND I SEE A LOT OF COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET ABOUT JEEP COMPASS THROTTLE BODIES
MULTIPLE ELECTRICAL ISSUES FOR THE LAST 2 YEARS. MOST NOTABLY IS WHEN I START THE CAR THE TEMPERATURE RESETS ITSELF TO THE OPPOSITE OF WHAT IT WAS. I.E. TURNED CAR OFF WITH TEMP LO AND RESET ITSELF TO HI. TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP WHO STATES THEY CAN'T REPLICATE THIS AT ALL. THIS STILL HAPPENS WITH NO RESOLVE. NOW I RECEIVE DASH MESSAGES STATING MULTIPLE LIGHTS DON'T WORK SUCH AS THE BRAKE LIGHTS HOWEVER THEY ARE PERFECTLY FINE. OTHER MESSAGES HAVE FLASHED BUT THEN DISAPPEAR. ALSO ISSUES WITH THE USB AND UCONNECT. USB HAS BEEN REPLACED DUE TO BEING LOOSE BUT NOW AS I DRIVE THE USB CUTS IN AND OUT. ALSO HAVE BEEN TOLD THEY CANNOT REPLICATE THIS ISSUE.MANY OF THESE ISSUES STARTED 6 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE AND STILL PERSIST TO THIS DAY.
MY LOW OIL PRESSURE LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO GET THE OIL CHANGED AS IT WAS DUE FOR AN OIL CHANGE ANYWAY. THEY TOLD ME MY OIL LEVEL WAS 3.5 QUARTS LOW AND THAT I NEEDED TO TAKE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT BECAUSE IT SHOULDN'T BE USING THAT MUCH OIL BETWEEN REGULAR OIL CHANGES. I TOOK IT TO JEEP WHERE THEY DIDN'T EVEN LOOK AT THE VEHICLE AND JUST TOLD ME THAT THIS ENGINE IS KNOWN TO BURN THAT MUCH OIL BETWEEN OIL CHANGES AND JEEP DEEMS IT AS 'ACCEPTABLE' BECAUSE THE OWNERS MANUEL STATES TO CHECK OIL LEVELS AT EVERY FILL UP AND ADD OIL AS NEEDED TO MAINTAIN A SAFE OIL LEVEL. HOW IS IT EVEN ACCEPTABLE FOR A BRAND NEW 2017 VEHICLE TO BURN 3.5 QUARTS OF OIL BETWEEN REGULAR OIL CHANGES? WHY DOES JEEP FIND IT ACCEPTABLE THAT I NEED TO CARRY OIL AROUND IN MY CAR 'JUST IN CASE' IT GETS LOW? WHY ARE THEY NOT FIXING THIS ISSUE?!
ACCORDING TO TECHS AT DODGE DEALERSHIP BOT FRONT ANTI LOCK BRAKE SENSORS ARE BAD. THIS VEHICLE IS ONLY DRIVEN ON PAVED ROADS. THIS VEHICLE ONLY HAS 27203 MILES ON IT. LIGHT HAS BEEN COMING ON AND GOING OFF FOR A MONTH. IT IS HARD TO UNDERSTAND HOW 2 SENSORS COULD GO BAD AT THE SAME TIME UNLESS THE SENSORS ARE OF POOR QUALITY. THESE SENSORS ARE ORIGINAL SENSORS. SAFETY EQUIPMENT SHOULD NOT BE SUBJECT TO COST SAVINGS. THIS VEHICLE IS WELL WITHIN THE MILEAGE FOR WARRANTY AND ONLY TWO MONTHS OUT OF TIME WARRANTY. HOW DO 2 SENSORS GO BAD AT ONCE? RESEARCHING THESE PROBLEMS ONLINE AND IT SEEMS TO BE A COMMON PROBLEM WITH JEEP.
2ND TIME THIS HAPPENED WITHIN A MONTH. DEALER CHANGED BATTERIES 1ST TIME. COMPUTER SYSTEM RUNS THROUGH A NUMBER OF MESSAGES STATING VARIOUS SETTINGS ARE NOT WORKING. EXAMPLE: ENGINE LIGHT, AIR BAG, OIL, WITH EVERY WARNING LIGHT THERE IS. VEHICLE JUST SHUT DOWN ON A BUSY ROAD. VERY DANGEROUS. 15 MIN LATER IT STARTED BACK UP LIKE THERE WASNT A PROBLEM. THERE IS EXCESS OIL USE ALSO. CHANGED OIL, A MONTH LATER, ITS A 1/4 LOW. NO DRIPS EITHER. THIS SHOULD NOT BE HAPPENING FOR A VEHICLE THAT IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD.
Uconnect touch screen delaminating on my 2017 Jeep Compass Limited 4X4. Started right after my car was just out of warranty, so when I called no one would help me or fix the issue. This was about 2 years ago, I have been dealing with this issue since 2020, it is now 2023.. Since then the screen has gotten WAY worse, delaminating half the screen. It is very distracting while driving and a safety hazard as it will randomly change settings, change which screen I'm on (if on audio, it will change to climate control etc.), sometimes does not work while I am touching the screen, like if I am trying change my climate control settings. If I am driving and need to change my AC up or heat down and its not working, I am having to take my eyes off the road longer to try and get the screen to work, which is a huge safety hazard. Also, probably not be related to the delamination, but my phone will not connect through USB to my Jeep, therefore I cannot use Android Auto. This is also a safety concern as I have to hold my phone or set it down on my lap and look down constantly to use GPS. I live in NJ and GPS is a MUST when driving anywhere. I have tried many different phones, different cables, and resetting my system, with no luck. With so many things wrong with the Jeeps screens especially 2017 and 2018 models you would think they would put out a recall, specifically for the delamination! This is happening to SO many people with various Jeep models. I have been on the phone with Jeep multiple times, many times with representatives who are short with me, and do not care about the issue. It seems as if they get so many calls about the same issue, that once they hear that you are having problems with your screen delaminating they just dismiss you and want to get you off the phone. The issues I am dealing with, along with so many others is very distracting and a major safety concern when the screen is not working property while driving.
THE ENGINE RUNS VERY HOT AND IT BURNS OIL LIKE I HAVE NEVER SEEN BEFORE. THE SERVICE MANAGER KNOWS ABOUT THIS AS WELL AS THE ADVISORS ALL INFORMED ME THAT THIS ENGINE DOES RUN HOT. IT BURNS OIL SO QUICKLY THAT YOU HAVE TO CHECK IT EVERY TIME YOU FILL UP ON GAS. IF YOU DO IT MONTHLY..YOU WILL WIND UP LOW AND WHEN THIS ENGINE IS LOW ON OIL...IT WILL SHUT OFF SOMETIMES WITHOUT NOTICE AND IT HAPPENED TO US IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HWY ON A RAINY DAY. THIS VEHICLE SHUT DOWN ON US 2 TIMES IN LESS THAN A YEAR AND WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING SO HOT...THE DIP STICK IS LITERALLY ALMOST TO HOT TO HANDLE IF YOU STOP TO CHECK THE OIL. IT HAS ALSO CAUSED THE AUXILIARY AS WELL AS THE MAIN BATTERY. I REPLACED THE AUXILIARY BATTERY IN DECEMBER 2019 THEN BOTH BATTERIES IN SEPTEMBER 2019. ALSO ANOTHER REASON FOR THIS VEHICLE TO SHUT DOWN WITHOUT NOTICE. ALL SORTS OF BIZARRE NOTICES CAME ON WHEN THE BATTERIES WENT. THE ELECTRONIC EMERGENCY PARKING BRAKE ENGAGES WHEN IT RUNS LOW ON OIL AS WELL AS WHEN THE BATTERIES ARE LOW AND/OR DIE. NOT A GOOD THING AS YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE CENTER SHIFT COUNSEL TO UNLOCK THE GEAR SHIFTER IF YOU NEED TO PUT IT IN NEUTRAL TO PUSH IT IN A SAFER PLACE OR GET IT TOWED. WITH AS HOT AS THIS ENGINE RUNS AND BURNS OIL SO RAPIDLY...MY CONCERN IS THAT IT WILL COMBUST AS WHEN OIL BURNS AT SUCH A FAST RATE IT WILL LEAVE A RESIDUE AND IF THE DIPSTICK GETS THIS HOT...I CAN ONLY IMAGINE HOW HOT EVERYTHING ELSE IS. AS SOON AS I POPPED THE HOOD...I FELT THAT HEAT. NOT A SAFE VEHICLE. I NOW KNOW WHY IT IS A DUAL AIR PORT AS WELL AS THE (AUTO STOP) THAT STOPS THE ENGINE WHEN IN IDLE...BOTH ARE THERE IN AN ATTEMPT TO HOPEFULLY KEEP THIS ENGINE COOL ENOUGH TO NOT COMBUST. FRIENDS WITH THIS SAME ENGINE HAD SIMILAR ISSUES THAT CAUSED THEIR VEHICLE TO STOP WHILE DRIVING. MY OTHER CONCERN IS THAT IT MAY STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION OR GET REARENDED. NOT A SAFE VEHICLE!!!
THE RADIO/NAVIGATION SYSTEM SEEMS TO HAVE A MIND OF IT'S OWN. FIRST, THE RADIO SCREEN HAS BEEN SLOWLY SEPARATING FROM THE RADIO, WHICH HASN'T AFFECTED THE USE OF THE TOUCH SCREEN USAGE. IT IS ABOUT HALF WAY SEPARATED. ALL OF A SUDDEN WE FIND THE UNIT CHANGING OUR RADIO STATIONS USING OUR PRESETS AND MANUALLY ENTERING IN DIGITS; IT SCROLLS THROUGH THE AIR CONDITIONING VENT OPTIONS AND STOPS ON ANY ONE OF THEM RANDOMLY; IT HAS SELECTED THE UCONNECT APP TRYING TO LOAD SOME APPLICATION THAT ISN'T LOADED; IT HAS SELECTED TO TURN ON THE HEATED STEERING WHEEL; IT HAS SELECTED TO TURN ON EITHER SEAT'S HEATER AND THEN OFF AGAIN, THEN BOTH, ETC.; IT HAS SELECTED THE NAVIGATION AND ROUTED TO DIFFERENT LOCATIONS AND STARTED THE NAVIGATION ALL ON IT'S OWN; ON ONE DRIVE, WHILE IN MOTION, THIS SUMMER WHEN 100 DEG OUTSIDE, IT HAS TURNED THE HEATER ALL THE WAY UP AND THEN LOCKED THE SCREEN SO WE COULDN'T CHANGE IT BACK. ON THIS ONE, IT NEARLY CAUSED AN ACCIDENT! MY HAS HAD A STROKE BEFORE AND CAN'T TAKE THE HEAT. WHEN IT WOULDN'T LET HER CHANGE IT BACK TO AIR CONDITIONING SHE NEARLY PASSED OUT TRYING TO GET OUT OF TRAFFIC AND TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. IT WOULDN'T EVEN LET HER USE THE MANUAL KNOBS TO CONTROL THE AIR CONDITIONING. THEY WERE LOCKED. EVEN WHEN TURNING CAR OFF AND THEN BACK ON DIDN'T HELP INITIALLY. IT TOOK 3 TIMES UNTIL IT LET HER ADJUST IT. THESE HAPPENINGS ARE RANDOM; SOME HAPPENING MORE THAN OTHERS AND SOMETIMES NOT AT ALL. IT HAPPENS AT ANY POINT, IN MOTION OR SITTING STILL; CITY, HIGHWAY, TURNING, STRAIGHT; IT DOESN'T MATTER TO IT. THIS HAPPENS AT LEAST DAILY AND WILL START AND STOP AT RANDOM TIMES. MOST OF THE TIME IT DOESN'T STOP UNTIL YOU CUT THE CAR OFF. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE IN SO MANY WAYS. I HAVE VIDEOS THAT SHOWS THIS, BUT CAN'T UPLOAD A VIDEO.
MY 2017 JEEP COMPASS HAS BEEN HAVING DIFFICULTY WITH STEERING/PULLING. THE LEFT LOWER CONTROL ARM AND BALL JOINT WERE FOUND TO BE EXCESSIVELY LOOSE/WORN AT 43,000 MILES. THE BALL JOINT WAS PREVIOUS REPLACED PRIOR TO 24,000 MILES. THIS PART HAS NOW BEEN RECALLED ON 2018 MODELS BUT NOT 2017. THE NEED FOR TWO SUCH REPLACEMENTS ON A CAR WITH 43,000 MILES IS TERRIFYING AND NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED.
2ND TIME I'VE GONE OUTSIDE OF MY HOME TO START MY CAR AND THE CAR DOES NOT START, THIS HAS HAPPENED TWICE... THEN I GOOGLE SEARCH IT AND SEE SO MANY COMPLAINTS OF PPLS CAR JUST NOT STARTING. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME. NOTHING WAS LEFT ON IS MY CAR, JUST LIKE SO MANY OTHER PPL WHO'VE HAD AND REPORTED THIS SAME ISSUE. THIS IS NOT RIGHT JEEP NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE!
CAR WON'T START CHANGED THE BATTERY WORKED FOR A DAY THEN HAD A CLICKING NOSE LIKE BATTERY WAS DEAD. CHARGED IT CRANKED UP LASTED A DAY STOPPED AGAIN.
THIS HAS HAPPENED ON MULTIPLE OCCURRENCES. THE VEHICLE IS OFF FOR MAX OF 3 HOUR PERIOD. UPON STARTING VEHICLE TO DRIVE, IT RUNS IDLE AND ENGINE WILL NOT TURN OVER. THE COMPUTER SYSTEM RUNS THROUGH A NUMBER OF MESSAGES STATING VARIOUS SETTINGS ARE NOT WORKING. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON. DRIVER'S SIDE CAN'T CONTROL PASSENGER SIDE FUNCTIONS. CLICKING SOUNDS HEARD FROM UNDERNEATH VEHICLE. FOG LIGHTS REMAIN ON AND BLIND SPOT LIGHTS ON SIDE MIRRORS REMAIN ON. VEHICLE WILL NOT TURN OFF.
MY VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION ON THE EXPRESS WAY DOING NO MORE THE 30 MPH AND MY THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON AND CAUSED MY VEHICLE TO HESITATE WHEN I TRIED TO ACCELERATE.
A PEBBLE SMALLER THAN A PEA WENT THROUGH THE GRILL AND PUT A WHOLE IN THE AC /DEFROST COMPRESSOR WHICH ALSO HOUSES THE TRANSMISSION COOLANT COSTING OVER $ 600 TO REPLACE. VERY CHEAP MATERIAL TO BE PUNCTURED BY A TINY PEBBLE AND VERY POOR DESIGN TO LEAVE SUCH A FRAGILE PART UNPROTECTED.
IN VERY HOT TEMPERATURES AFTER CAR HAS BEEN OFF. THE TEMPERATURE CONTROL RESETS ITSELF TO HI HEAT/DEFROST WHEN RESTARTED, EVEN THO IT WAS SET ON LO AIR WHEN VEHICLE WAS TURNED OFF. SCREEN HAS ALSO GONE BLACK WITH NO RADIO OR BACK UP CAMERA. TAKES A FEW RESTARTS TO FIX.
WE'VE EXPERIENCED RANDOM STALLING AND EXCESS OIL CONSUMPTION. WE'VE BROUGHT TO DEALER UNDER THE WARRANTY - THEY INITIALLY CONFIRMED EXCESS OIL CONSUMPTION BUT THEN PULLED BACK ON IT. THEY ARE 'UNABLE TO REPLICATE' THE RANDOM STALLING AND THEREFORE WON'T ADDRESS EVEN THOUGH IT'S A TREMENDOUS SAFETY RISK AS IT HAPPENS WHILE THE VEHICLE IS IN MOTION ON A PUBLIC ROADWAY. EMAILS AND SERVICE RECORDS CAN BE PROVIDED UPON REQUEST. MOST RECENT STALL DATE PROVIDED BELOW.
I WAS IN THE KWIK TRIP CARWASH WITH MY ENGINE ON AND IN PARK, WHEN THE VEHICLE, ( A 2017 JEEP COMPASS 4X4 HIGH ALTITUDE), SUDDENLY GOES FORWARD AND THE ONLY WAY TO STOP WAS TO TURN THE ENGINE OFF. THE BRAKES DIDN'T STOP IT. THIS HAPPENED ON JULY 5TH 2020, AT APPROXIMATELY 9:20 PM IN SHAWANO, WI.
WHILE DRIVING THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, INPUT THE CAR IN PARK AND THEN TRY TO PUT IT BACK IN GEAR AND IT WON'T GO. I SHUT THE CAR OFF AND IT WILL THEN GO IN GEAR. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED, AS WELL AS WHEN I GET TO AROUND 2500 RPM THE TRANSMISSION MISSES. *TR

MY JEEP DASHBOARD LIGHTS COME ON CAR STARTS TO STALL NOT PICKING UP SPEED THEN AFTER A 30-40 SECONDS IT PICK BACK UP WITH ENGINE AND LIGHTING VAULT LIGHT WONT GO OFF. I FIRST TIME IT OCCURRED I WAS IN MOTION ON CITY STREETS DOING SPEED LIMIT OF 50 MPH AN I INSTANTLY HAD TO PULL OVER WHEN IT WAS CLEAR CUT IT OFF THEN STARTED IT BACK UP CAUSE I COULD NOT MISS WORK. *TR
REMOTE START BEGAN FAILING THEN WOULDN'T EVEN START WITH KEY. HAD TO REPLACE STARTER DUE TO WHERE STARTER IS LOCATED IT GETS SO HOT IT FRIED THE WIRING. MECHANIC STATED DUE TO WHERE THE STARTER IS LOCATED, I WILL PROBABLY HAVE TO REPLACE IT EVERY YEAR OR TWO. VERY POOR DESIGN.
WHEN STOPPED AT A STOP LIGHT WITH THE ENGINE IN GEAR (DRIVE) THERE WILL BE A VIBRATION COMING FROM THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. IF YOU SHIFT INTO PARK OR NEUTRAL IT WILL STOP. IT ONLY VIBRATES AT AN IDLE WHILE IN GEAR ONCE YOU START MOVING IT STOPS.
