AFTER PUTTING VEHICLE IN PARK POSITION, VEHICLE ROLLED BACKWARDS, ACROSS CITY STREET INTO PARKED VEHICLE. *AK *TT
THE DUAL CLIMATE CONTROL IS NO LONGER WORKING CAUSING PROBLEMS ON FOGGING UP WINDOWS IN PARTICULAR WEATHER MAKING IT VERY DIFFICULT TO DRIVE. FROM MY UNDERSTANDING THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM ON THE CAR AND COST OVER $1000 TO FIX THE BLEND DOORS... NOT SURE WHAT BLEND DOORS ARE... BUT APPARENTLY THEY ARE BROKEN. *TR
THERE IS PREMATURE WEAR OF THE FRONT ROTORS. CONSUMER HAS HAD ROTORS REPLACED ONCE AND CUT TWICE. CONTACTED DEALER.*AK
WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND WAS IDLING IT SHIFTED INTO REVERSE AND STARTED GOING DOWNHILL, HITTING ANOTHER VEHICLE. CONTACTED DEALER.*AK
VEHICLE STARTED SHAKING WHEN BRAKES WERE APPLIED. DEALER SAID THAT ROTORS WERE WARPED AND HAD TO BE RESURFACED. THIS HAPPENED AT 18,000 AND IS NOW HAPPENING AGAIN AT 28,000 MILES. THERE IS DEFINITELY A DEFECT IN THE ROTORS AND JEEP SHOULD REPLACE THEM AT NO COST TO THE CONSUMER.*AK
WE HAVE HAD OUR GRAND CHEROKEE SINCE DECEMBER, 2000 AND HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE FRONT BRAKE ROTORS SERVICED FIVE TIMES IN THE FIRST 29,000 MILES OF USE. DAIMLER CHRYSLER CONTENDS THAT MY WIFE'S DRIVING HABITS ARE THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEMS YET THERE ARE SEVERAL SERVICE BULLETINS LOGGED AT THE NHTSA SITE FOR THIS PROBLEM. JEEP'S ATTEMPT TO BLAME AN OBVIOUS PRODUCT DEFECT ON THE DRIVING HABITS OF THEIR CUSTOMER IS UNETHICAL AND SHOULD BE REPORTED.
DURING A HEAD-ON COLLISION WHILE TRAVELING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, BOTH FRONTAL AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. DRIVER RECEIVED HEAD INJURIES DUE TO CONTACT WITH STEERING COLUMN, AND WAS EXPERIENCING NECK AND BACK PAIN. VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN EXAMINED TO DETERMINE REASON FOR FAILURE OF THE AIR BAGS. PLEASE PROVIDE ANY ADDITIONAL INFORMATION / DOCUMENTATION.*AK
CONSUMER STATED VEHICLE WAS IN PARK WITH ENGINE RUNNING, AND EMERGENCY BRAKE NOT APPLIED, WHEN VEHICLE SUDDENLY WENT BACKWARD AND HIT A CEMENT POLE, AND THEN HIT VEHICLE. CONSUMER HAD NECK SURGERY PREVIOUSLY, AND SUFFERED NECK INJURIES DUE TO THIS OCCURRENCE. *AK.*JB
VEHICLE WAS IN PARK, ENGINE RUNNING/ EMERGENCY BRAKE NOT APPLIED. CONSUMER GOT OUT, AND AT THAT MOMENT VEHICLE SUDDENLY WENT BACKWARD. VEHICLE HIT GARAGE DOOR BEFORE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO JUMP IN AND SHUT OFF ENGINE. NO INJURIES. DAMAGE TO VEHICLE ABOUT $ 4500.00. *AK
THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A HEAD ON COLLISON. CONSUMER HIT DRIVERS DOOR OF OTHER VEHICLE. AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY, CONSUMER SUSTAINED A FRACTUREED COLLAR BONE AND STERNUM DAMAGE. NO CONTACT WAS MADE WITH THE DEALER OR MANUFACTURER. *AK
FRONT BRAKE ROTORS ARE WEARING OUT EXCESSIVELY. DEALER WANTS TO TURN THEM INSTEAD OF REPLACING. FEEL FREE TO PROVIDE ANY FURTHER INFORMATION.*AK
ONSUMER'S FOOT WAS ON BRAKE WHEN VEHICLE LURCHED IN REVERSE. DEALER WILL BE NOTIFIED. *AK
WHEN DRIVING BOTH FRONT POWER SEATS WOBBLE FROM SIDE TO SIDE. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO DEALER 4 TIMES. DEALER STATED IT WAS A CHARACTERISTIC OF THE VEHICLE, AND THERE WAS NOTHING HE COULD DO. CONSUMER HAS FILED FOR THE LEMON LAW.*AK
ON THE ROAD IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE, I PUT MY JEEP INTO PARK WITH THE ENGINE IDLING. I GOT OUT OF THE JEEP, WALKED UP MY DRIVEWAY AND PICKED UP MY NEWSPAPER. WHEN I TURNED AROUND I SAW MY JEEP ROLL UP OVER THE CURB AND ACROSS MY FRONT LAWN. I RAN AFTER THE JEEP AND JUST AS I WAS JUMPING INTO THE DRIVER SEAT, I WAS KNOCKED OUT OF THE JEEP, WHEN THE DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR CRASHED INTO A STREET LAMP POST AND SMASHED INTO ME. MY JEEP ROLLED DOWN THE ROAD AND THROUGH NEIGHBOR'S YARDS FOR APPROXIMATELY .2 OF A MILE. MY JEEP CASHED INTO AND DAMAGED A CABLE AND TELEPHONE UTILITY BOX, TWO SECTIONS OF A WROUGHT IRON FENCE, 2 SECTIONS OF A WOODEN PRIVACY FENCE, BUSHES, ONE TREE, AN ELECTRIC OUTLET AND TWO CLAPBOARDS ON THE BOTTOM OF A HOUSE. WHEN I FINALLY CAUGHT UP TO MY JEEP IT WAS STILL IDLING AND THE GEAR SHIFT WAS IN PARK.*AK
PURCHASED THE JEEP IN SEPTEMBER-1ST INCIDENT OCCURRED SEPT 30-ENGINE CUT OFF. TROUBLE LIGHT INDICATED NO OIL. TOOK JEEP INTO DEALER I WAS TOLD IT WAS A LOSE ELECTRICAL SWITCH. 2ND INCIDENT JEEP HAD A SIZZLING SOUND FROM ENGINE AREA LIKE AIR ESCAPING FROM VALVE OR MANIFEST. THE BRAKES HAD A CLICKING SOUND WHEN PRESSED. TOOK IN FOR REPAIR TO DEALER. THE DEALER-PREBUL JEEP REPLACES THE GEAR BOX WITHOUT INFORMING ME OF THE RECALL. I WAS NOT INFORMED OF A RECALL WHEN I PURCHASED THE JEEP. NOW THE ENGINE SOUNDS LIKE A RACE CAR, CAR SHAKES WHEN IDLE,WHEN CHANGING GEARS SOUND IS HARSH LIKE SOMETHING IS TEARING, AND THE BRAKES CLICK. I WAS TOLD BY PREBUL REPAIR THAT THERE WAS NO PROBLEMS NOW AND ALL THE JEEPS SOUND LIKE THAT. THE JEEP NOW DRIVES VERY ROUGH. I HAVE OWNED A JEEP PREVIOUSLY AND IT NEVER SOUND LIKE THIS ONE.*AK
THE ROTORS ON MY JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED HAVE WARPED WHILE DRIVING UNDER LIGHT CONDITIONS (NO TOWING). I PREVIOUSLY HAD A 98 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WHICH HAD THE SAME PROBLEM. DURING NOVEMBER OF 2001, I FIRST ENCOUNTERED THE VIOLENT SHAKING OF MY VEHICLE WHILE STOPPING ON THE 405 FREEWAY IN LOS ANGLES. THE SHUTTERING AFFECTED MY BRAKING DISTANCE AND I NEARLY AVOIDED REAR-ENDING ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE ROTORS HAVE WARPED SO SEVERLY THAT IT HAS IMPARED THE STOPPING ABILITY OF THE VEHICLE AND IS A HAZARD. THIS IS NOT A ISOLATED INCIDENT WITH JEEP ROTORS (NHTSA HAS 120 ROTOR COMPLAINTS FOR THE 2000 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE...THE 2001 IS APPARENTLY FOLLOWING SUIT WITH THE FAULTY WORKMANSHIP) AND IT IS EXTREMELY HAZARDOUS FOR DAIMLER-CHRYSLER TO KEEP INSTALLING THE DEFECTIVE ROTORS ON OUR VEHICLES. I AM CURRENTLY FIGHTING THE DEALER TO REPLACE MY ROTORS AND HAVE SUGGESTED THEY DO SO WITH AN AFTERMARKET BRAND. THE DEALERS FEEL THEIR HANDS ARE TIED FROM THE MANUFACTURER. PLEASE LOOK INTO THIS PROBLEM. IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE A WARPED ROTOR CRACKS AND SENDS A VEHICLE INTO A SEVERE ACCIDENT.*AK
WHILE TRAVELING ON HIGHWAY VEHICLE STALLS WITHOUT PRIOR WARNING, AND WILL NOT RESTART. DEALERSHIP IS AWARE OF PROBLEM.*AK TRANSMISSION WAS HARD TO SHIFT. *YH
I BELIEVE THE ROTORS TO PRE-MATURELY WARP ON THE JEEP CHEROKEE. I BROUGHT THEM IN FOR A "COURTESY" SERVICING, BUT THEY SOON WARPED 4,000 MILES LATER. PROBLEM IS VIBRATION AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS WHEN APPLYING BRAKE. *AK
BOTH FRONT BRAKE ROTORS ARE WARPED. AND THE CAR HAS 20,000 MILE ON IT. *AK
VIOLENT SHUTTERING OF VEHICLE ON ALL BRAKING MANUEVERS. *AK
WHILE VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND STILL RUNNING, HAD SHIFTED INTO REVERSE WITH FOOT ON BRAKES, AND VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED BACKWARDS. STRUCK A TRUCK AND ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT WAS PARKED. *AK ONE PERSON WAS INJURED IN ACCIDENT. *SLC
VEHICLE JUMPED FROM PARK TO REVERSE WHILE IT WAS IDLING AND PARKING BRAKE WAS ENGAGED, CAUSING DAMAGE TO VEHICLE. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTATCED. VEHICLE WAS PARKED ON A SLIGHT INCLINE. *AK JG
WHILE DRIVING ATTEMPTING TO MAKE A RIGHT HAND TURN STEERING WHEEL BECAME STIFF AND DIFFICULT TO CONTROL, VEHICLE MERGED INTO ANOTHER LANE. *AK AND HIT POST SIGN, DAMAGE TO FRONT DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE, THERE WAS AN NHTSA RECALL BULLETIN FOR 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE MANUFACTURED IN NOV AND DEC, 2000. AN INTERNAL NUT IN THE STEERING GEAR ASSEMBLY COULD LOOSEN AND CAUSE STEERING TO LOCK UP. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED. *ET
BRAKE ROTORS HAVE NOT TOTALLY FAILED; HOWEVER, WITHIN A YEAR THEY HAVE BECOME WARPED AND CAUSE MY STEERING WHEEL TO SHAKE WHEN I ATTEMPT TO STOP.*AK
CONSUMER BACKED OUT OF GARAGE AND PUT VEHICLE IN PARK, WHEN SHE GOT OUT THE VEHICLE STARTED ROLLING BACKWARD. CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO HOP BACK IN AND STOP VEHICLE. CONSUMER'S VEHICLE SIDE SWIPED ANOTHER VEHICLE IN THE PROCESS.*AK *YH
PE 01-021/ROLL AWAY IN PARK: WHILE PARKED AND IDLING, VEHICLE INADVERTENTLY JUMPED OUT OF GEAR AND COMMENCED TO ROLL BACKWARD ONTO DRIVER'S FOOT WHILE HE WAS OPENING AN ENTRANCE GATE. VEHICLE CONTINUED ON INTO WOODED AREA BEFORE STOPPING. DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED AT THIS TIME. *AK *JB
WHILE TRAVELING 50-55 MPH, VEHICLE VIBRATED WHEN APPLYING BRAKES. CONSUMER NOTICED A BURNING SMELL COMING FROM REAR TIRES. *AK THE REAR ROTORS WERE RESURFACED TWICE, THE FRONT ROTORS AND BRAKE PADS WERE REPLACED, THERE ARE STILL OCCURENCES OF STEERING WHEEL VIBRATIONS. *JG
FRONT OF VEHICLE SHIMMIES AND STEERING WHEEL SHAKES AT ANY TIME.*AK
I SUFFERED SERIOUS INJURIES AS A RESULT OF THIS FAILURE AND HAVE INCURRED LARGE MEDICAL BILLS. I AM AWARE THAT OTHER YEARS OF THIS MODEL HAVE BEEN RECALLED, BUT NOT THE 2001. THIS DEFECT CONTINUES IN THE 2001 VEHICLES. MY VEHICLE SUFFERED NO DAMAGE AND THERE WAS NO PROPERTY DAMAGE. MY MEDICAL BILLS ARE CONTINUING AS I AM STILL BEING TREATED FOR MY INJURIES. *AK
WHILE IDLING CAR DROPPED FROM PARK TO DRIVE, PINNING ME AGAINST REAR OF GARAGE AND CRUSHING SNOWBLOWER. CAR HAD TO BE IN PARK FOR ME TO GET OUT SINCE CAR ROLLS WHEN IN GEAR WITHOUT BRAKES. *AK
2001 JEEP CHEROKEE OVER HEATED SEAT DRIVER SIDE BURN OUT .......REPLACED , UNDER WARRANTY, WITH DEFECTIVE PART, SAME ISSUE RECURRING BURNING COIL.....ALSO, BACK UP LITES DON T WORK ........REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY, WITH ....DEFECTIVE ...SAME RECURRING ...TOLD NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY AND MY PROBLEM...$500 PLUS $1300...FOR IDENTICAL REPAIR AS WARRANTY WORK ALREADY DONE AND REPLACED WITH SAME DEFECTIVE PARTS... ...DATES AND MILEAGE WHEN AUTHORIZED JEEP DEALERS DID WORK OR DENIED WARRANTY ON SAME ISSUES IS RECORDED AND ON FILE, AND ESTIMATED BY ME AT THIS TIME...BUT RECORDED....BY DEALERS, AND IN MY FILE. *TR
ENGINE STALLED AND DID NOT RESTART. JEEP PURCHSED 9 WEEKS AGO. PREGNANT, STUCK ON HIGHWAY OVER 1 HOUR; ON HOLD 1/2 HOUR ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE.*AK
FRONT BRAKES WARPED EVERY 8000 MILES. *AK
CONSUMER STATES THAT THE BRAKES ON THE VEHICLE ARE NOT WORKING PROPERLY.CONTACTED DEALER AND THE DEALER IS NOT WILLING TO DO ANYTHING. *MR
SEVERE STEERING WHEEL WOBBLE DURING MODERATE BRAKING CAUSING SOME LOSS OF CONTROL. A PRIVATE BRAKE SPECIALIST RECOMMENDED THE ROTORS BE REPLACED DUE TO WARPING. THE DEALER SAYS THIS IS NORMAL WEAR EVEN THOUGH THE BRAKE PADS ARE ONLY HALF WORN.
WHILE TRAVELING AT 35 MPH ANOTHER CAR PULLED OUT IN FRONT OF CONSUMER'S VEHICLE, AND CONSUMER REAR ENDED OTHER VEHICLE. UPON IMPACT, NONE OF THE FRONT AIRBAGS DEPLOYED.*AK ONE PERSON WAS INJURED IN THE ACCIDENT. *SLC
JEEP WAS LEFT RUNNING IN PARK. AFTER APPROXIMATELY 2 MINUTES VEHICLE SHIFTED FROM PARK TO REVERSE AND PROCEED AT A RELATIVELY FAST SPEED IN A CIRCULAR DIRECTION FOR ABOUT 100 YARDS UNTIL IT STRUCK A PARKED 5TH WHEEL TRAILER. IT CAUSED SEVERE DAMAGE TO BOTH VEHICLES. IT NARROWLY MISSED SEVERAL PEOPLE IN THE AREA. WHEN I CONTACTED JEEP THEY STATED THAT THERE COULD NOT POSSIBLY BE A PROBLEM. *AK
WHILE MOTOR WAS STILL RUNNING CONSUMER GOT OUT AND OPENED GATE. VEHICLE STARTED MOVING IN REVERSE WHILE IN PARK.CONSUMER SHIFTED TO DRIVE AND VEHICLE WAS STILL MOVING IN REVERSE. THEN, SHIFTED VEHICLE INTO PARK WITH FOOT ON BRAKE, CUT VEHICLE OFF TWICE, AND IT KEPT GOING IN REVERSE. SECOND TIME, UPON STARTING VEHICLE, IT WOULDN'T START UP. HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALER. TOW TRUCK DRIVER POINTED OUT THAT ELECTRICAL WIRES WERE BURNED, AND PLUG BENEATH WHEN IT WAS TOWED FIRST TIME, WAS GONE. VEHICLE AT DEALERSHIP.*AK
BRAKES, STARTING: AT 2900 MILE WHEELS STARTED TO VIBRATE ON BRAKING. TURNED FRONT ROTORS. 7000+ MILES SAME THING. REPLACED ROTORS. 13000+ MILES SAME THING. REP[LECED PADS AND ROTORS. 21000+MILES SAME THING REPLACED CALIPERS. (NOTE) BY THIS TIME I HAD HAD MY WHEELS ROTATED 7 TIMES IN 21000 MILES. (4) 17" MICHELIN RADIALS SHOT. AT THIS POINT I REPLACED THE TIRES WITH 600.00 WORTH OF GOODYEARS. GOODYEAR CHECKED THE ALLIGNMENT. IT WAS OUT. THEY REPAIRED IT AS BEST AS THEY COULD BUT SAID THAT I NEEDED A PARTIAL BALL JOINT. I WENT TO JEEP SINCE I THOUGHT THAT THE BALL JOINT WOULD BE UNDER WARRANTY. YES IT WAS BUT ONLY IF THE CAR WAS OUT OF ALLIGNMENT. SINCE GOODYEAR HAD ALLIGNED IT AS BEST AS THEY COULD TO PREVENT UNEVEN WEAR ON THE NEW TIRES. JEEP REFUSED TO REPAIR THE BALL JOINT UNDER WARRANTY. THEY SAID I WOULD HAVE TO PAY 200+ OR WAIT UNTIL IT WENT OUT OF ALIGNMNET AGAIN. THE GAS TANK HAS BEEN OFF THREE TIME TO REPAIR A STARTING PROBLEM.
VEHICLE WAS PULLED INTO GARAGE AND WAS SHIFTED INTO PARK. OWNER'S HUSBAND STEPPED OUT OF THE VEHICLE AT WHICH TIME IT SHIFTED INTO REVERSE ON IT'S OWN SLAMMING THE OPEN DRIVERS SIDE DOOR INTO THE GARAGE WALL. THIS SLOWED THE VEHICLE LONG ENOUGH FOR HIM TO JUMP IN AND PUT ON THE BRAKE. SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE WAS DONE TO DRIVERS SIDE DOOR REQUIRING BODY WORK. NO RESPONSE FROM MANUFACTURER TO DATE.*AK
WHILE IDLING, GEAR SHIFTER JUMPED FROM PARK TO REVERSE. DEALER HAS BEEN CONTACTED.*AK *JB
VEHICLE WAS PARKED AND RUNNING INSIDE GARAGE. CONSUMER WAS ATTACHING A BOAT TO VEHICLE, AND HE WAS ON A HILL. VEHICLE JUMPED INTO REVERSE, AND BACKED OUT OF GARAGE WITH BOAT, AND PINNED CONSUMER DOWN. *AK
ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS PRIOR TO ACCIDENT, ALWAYS UNDER FIVE MILES AN HOUR, I WOULD STEP N THE BRAKE AND THE CAR WANTED TO KEEP GOING. ON THE OCCASION OF THE ACCIDENT, I APPLIED BOTH FEET TO THE BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE DID NOT STOP AND HIT A CHAIN LINK FENCE. AN INVSESTIGATOR FROM CHRYSLER CHECK THE VEHICLE ON 8/29/01 AND INDICATED THAT THE ONLY THING THAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED IS THAT THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL SITS HIGH THAN THE BRAKE PEDAL AND I HIT BOTH AT THE SAME TIME. MY FOOT IS NOT WIDE ENOUGH TO HIT BOTH AT THE SAME TIME. IN A PREVIOUS INCIDENT, I WAS IN PARK , PUT THE VEHICLE INTO REVERSE AND IT LERCHED BACKWARD. THE INVESTIGATOR COULD ONLY DUPLICATE THE SITUATION BY PUTTING HIS FOOT ON BOTH THE BRACK AND ACCELERATOR AT THE SAME TIME. THIS VEHICLE IS UNSAFE AND I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE IT.*AK
CONSUMER STATES WHEN HE STEPPED ON THE BRAKE TO SHIFT INTO REVERSE THE MOTOR BEGAN TO ROAR AND THE VEHICLE LURCHED BACKWARD NO MATTER HOW HARD THE BRAKE WAS PRESSED, CONSUMER IMMEDIATELY PULLED THE SHIFT DOWNWARD AND THE VEHICLE LURCHED FOWARD WITH THE MOTOR STILL ROARING AND HIS FOOT STILL PRESSING ON THE BRAKE, AFTER TRAVELING ABOUT TWENTY FEET THE MOTOR REVERTED TO IDLE.*JB
THE VEHICLE FAILED IN FAIRBORN, OHIO. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO TWO DIFFERENT JEEP GARAGES PRIOR TO BEING DIAGNOSED AS A FAILURE OF THE CAM SENSOR GEARS. THE TECH ASSIGNED TO EVALULATE THE PROBLEM INDICATED THIS IS THE SECOND FAILURE OF THIS TYPE HE HAS SEEN IN TWO WEEKS. THIS FAILURE CAUSES YOU TO LOSE ALL ENGINE POWER, IE POWER STEERING AND POWER BRAKING!. THE DEALERSHIP ALSO INDICATED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED FOR THIS REPAIR ARE ON A "NATIONAL BACKORDER" AND IT COULD TAKE 1 WEEK OR MORE TO OBTAIN THE REPAIR PARTS.*AK
A 10 INCH PIECE OF THE LEFT REAR BRAKE ROTOR BROKE OFF AND LODGED BETWEEN THE BRAKE ASSEMBLY AND THE MAG WHEEL, THIS CAUSED THE LEFT REAR WHEEL TO STOP TURNING AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SKID AND SWERVE THROUGH A NEIGHBORS FENCE. *YH
UPON ENTERING THE VEHICLE AND CLOSING THE DOOR THE CONSUMER USES THE POWER LOCKS TO LOCK THE DOORS, WHETHER THE VEHICLE IS IN PARK OR DRIVE, BOTH THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER DOOR UNLOCK AUTOMATICALLY BY SIMPLY PULLING ON THE INSIDE DOOR HANDLES, THE CONSUMER BELIEVES THIS IS A SAFETY HAZARD. NLM
THIS WILL BE THE THIRD TIME IN 30 DAYS I HAVE BROUGHT MY CAR IN FOR REPAIR ON THE TRANSMISSION. THE ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON AND THE OUTSIDE TEMP. GAUGE SAYS IT'S 125 DEGREES OUTSIDE WHEN IT IS 84 DEGREES. I PRESS MY FOOT ON THE PEDAL AND IT HESITATES AND SLOWLY DRIVES UNTIL THE GEAR KICKS IN AND THEN JUMPS FORWARD. FIRST THEY THOUGHT IT WAS THE TRANSMISSION COLNOID, THEN THEY THOUGHT IT WAS THE MODULE UNIT NOW THEY SAY IT'S ELECTRICAL. WHEN PRESSING THE BRAKE, I FEEL A CLICKING ON MY FOOT THAT HAPPENS FREQUENTLY THEN GOES AWAY. THE DEALERSHIP WHERE IT'S BEING SERVICED IS NOT SURE WHAT THE PROBLEM IS AND IT'S TAKING A VERY LONG TIME TO RECTIFY THE SITUATION. I AM A PREVIOUS GRAND CHEROKEE OWNER AND HAD CONSISTANT PROBLEMS WITH THE ROTORS AND THAT ONE. I AM NOW UNSURE OF MY SAFETY AND THE RELIABILITY OF THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE ALREADY CONSULTED AN ATTORNEY AND CAN ONLY HOPE THAT IT DOESN'T NEED TO COME TO THAT. WHAT CAN I DO TO RECTIFY THIS SITUATION ?*AK
I STOPPED FOR A LEFT TURN AT A 4 WAY INTERSECTION, IN ORDER TO LET THE UPCOMING TRAFFIC PASS. WHEN IT WAS CLEAR, I STARTED TO TURN LEFT AND SLIGHTLY UPHILL. ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE ENGINE REVVED INTO THE HIGHS AND WITH A LOUD NOISE, THE CAR ACCELERATED. I IMMEDIATELY HIT THE BRAKE, BUT THE CAR KEPT ON ACCELERATING SO STRONGLY THAT IT WAS OVERTURNING TO THE LEFT AND WHILE I WAS STILL ON THE BRAKES, IT THEN ACCELERATED INTO THE DOOR OF A CAR, WHICH WAS WAITING AT THE RED LIGHT AND WAS ACTUALLY STANDING 180 DEGREES TOWARDS MY LEFT, BEHIND ME WHEN I STARTED. THE DOOR OF THIS CAR WAS TURNED SIGNIFICANTLY INWARDS WHERE THE FRONT OF MY CAR HIT. THE OTHER CAR WAS EVEN PUSHED ALL THE WAY TO THE CURB UNTIL MY CAR FINALLY CAME TO A STOP. ALL THIS WHILE I WAS STANDING ON THE BRAKE. FORTUNATELY, NOBODY WAS HURT. ALTHOUGH I HAD 2 WITNESSES, WHO TESTIFIED THE UNUSUAL ACCELERATION AND BEHAVIOR OF MY CAR, I HAVE BEEN CHARGED FOR THIS ACCIDENT WITH SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE ON THE OTHER CAR, WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE A TOTAL. MY CAR WAS ABOUT 2 MONTHS OLD AT THIS TIME, BUT I HAVE BEEN A SECURE DRIVER WITH NUMEROUS MODELS FOR MORE THAN 20 YEARS. MY LONG EXPERIENCE ALSO INCLUDES DRIVING A 10 TON UTILITY TRUCK IN THE MILITARY AND I HAVE NEVER HAD ANYTHING SIMILAR HAPPEN. I ASKED MY 5-STAR DEALERSHIP TO CHECK INTO THE ELECTRONICS AND THE BOARD COMPUTER. THEY SAID THAT THEY DIDN'T FIND ANYTHING, SO I HAD NO CASE. HOWEVER, I READ ABOUT SIMILAR EVENTS AND ONE IN PARTICULAR MOST RECENTLY, WHICH PROVIDED A LINK TO THIS COMPLAINT FORM.
