CHRYSLER ANNOUNCED A RECALL OF MY 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES M35/NHTSA 12V-527 INFORMING ME THAT THERE WAS "A SMALL CHANCE OF AN ELECTRICAL OVERSTRESS COULD OCCUR AND IF THIS OVERSTRESS CONDITION OCCUR, IT COULD CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE ORC COMPUTER CHIP CAUSING THE AIRBAG LIGHT TO ILLUMINATE, FOLLOWED ALMOST IMMEDIATELY BY AN INADVERTENT DEPLOYMENT OF THE FRONT OR SIDE AIRBAG! INADVERTENT DEPLOYMENT OF THE AIRBAGS MAY INCREASE THE RISK OF INJURY AND THE POSSIBILITY OF A VEHICLE CRASH." CHRYSLER INTENDS TO REPAIR MY VEHICLE, HOWEVER; THE PART IS CURRENTLY NOT AVAILABLE. WHY IS IT TAKING CHRYSLER SOOO LONG WITH PRODUCING THIS PART??? I CONTACTED MY LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP ONLY TO FIND OUT, THE DEALER HAD NO KNOWLEDGE OF THIS RECALL AND COULD NOT ADVISE IF MY VEHICLE WAS EVEN SAFE TO DRIVE. THIS IS EXTREMELY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE AND NEEDS TO BE RESOLVED, ASAP. IT WOULD APPEAR SINCE THIS VEHICLE IS MORE THAN 10+ YEARS OLD CHRYSLER DOES NOT HAVE ANY INTENTIONS ON THE REPAIR AND DOES NOT WANT TO ACCEPT LIABILITY IF AN ACCIDENT OCCURS WHILE I AM DRIVING IT. I WAS SENT A LETTER FROM CHRYSLER ABOUT MY JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AIRBAG PROBLEM. IN NOVEMBER OF 2012 THIS VEHICLE, WHICH IS DRIVEN BY MY 20 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER, HAD THE AIRBAG LIGHT ILLUMINATE. I CONTACTED OUR MECHANIC HERE IN BEND, OREGON AND HE INFORMED ME THAT THE AIRBAGS WERE NOT FUNCTIONING AND THAT IMMEDIATE ATTENTION WAS NEEDED TO REPAIR THIS PROBLEM. I DID NOT ALLOW MY DAUGHTER TO DRIVE THE CAR AND HAD THE REPAIR MADE AT A COST OF ABOUT $500.00 DOLLARS. SHORTLY AFTER THIS REPAIR, I RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE FROM CHRYSLER AND TALKED TO MY MECHANIC WHO CONFIRMED THAT THIS IS EXACTLY THE REPAIR THAT WAS MADE. I SEND CHRYSLER THE REPAIR BILL AS THEY STATED ON THE RECALL FORM. CHRYSLER IS TRYING TO DELAY OR DENY THIS VERY SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE AND I DO NOT APPRECIATE THE WAY THIS WAS HANDLED. *TR

MY AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AFTER A SERIES OF BEEPS WHILE DRIVING IN MY 2002 JEEP CHEROKEE LAREDO. I TOOK IT TO MY MECHANIC THAT HOOKED IT UP TO A MACHINE AND IT WAS DETERMINED MY AIRBAGS ARE NOT FUNCTIONING. I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE SHORTLY AFTER IN THE MAIL STATING THERE WAS AN AIRBAG RECALL ON MY JEEP. THE AIRBAGS HAVE A POTENTIAL TO HAVE AN INADVERTENT AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. I TOOK IT TO THE JEEP DEALER AND THEY INSPECTED THE PROBLEM AND STATED THAT IT WAS A PROBLEM UNDER THE RECALL, STATED MY AIRBAGS ARE NOT FUNCTIONING AND UNPLUGGED MY AIRBAG SO THAT THERE WOULD BE NO CHANCE OF A INADVERTENT DEPLOYMENT ON ME WHILE DRIVING. THIS WAS SAFER THAN DRIVING WITHOUT AIRBAG PROTECTION, I WAS INSURED I WOULD GET THE AIRBAGS TAKEN CARE OF AS SOON AS PARTS WERE AVAILABLE. I HAVE CALLED THE JEEP RECALL DEPARTMENT AND HAVE BEEN TOLD TWICE I WAS MOVED TO THE TOP OF THE LIST AND WOULD GET A CALL AS SOON AS PARTS ARE AVAILABLE. IT IS NOW 9 MONTHS LATER AND I AM STILL DRIVING AROUND WITHOUT AIRBAGS. I CANNOT SELL MY VEHICLE DUE TO IT NOT BEING IN SAFE CONDITION AND DO NOT LIKE DRIVING AROUND WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR WITHOUT AIRBAG SAFETY. THIS VEHICLE IS SUBJECT TO RECALL 12V527000. 10 MONTHS LATER, THERE IS NO FIX FROM CHRYSLER. WE LIVE IN A SAFETY INSPECTION STATE. THIS VEHICLE CANNOT PASS SAFETY INSPECTION WITH THE AIR BAG LIGHT ON ALL THE TIME. OUR PAST SAFETY INSPECTION EXPIRED 8/31/13. NOTE THAT IN OUR STATE, THE SAFETY INSPECTION STICKER IS MUCH LARGER THAN THE REGISTRATION STICKER. IT'S EASIER FOR THE POLICE TO DETECT EXPIRED SAFETY THAN EXPIRED REGISTRATION. WE CANNOT LEGALLY DRIVE THIS VEHICLE NOW & EVERY CONSUMER PROTECTION AGENCY I'VE CALLED TELLS ME WE HAVE NO RECOURSE. THIS VEHICLE CANNOT EVEN BE SOLD HERE, EXCEPT FOR PARTS!!!! WE NEED TO HAVE SOMETHING TO DRIVE WHILE CHRYSLER FIGURES OUT HOW THIS CAN BE FIXED, BUT IT SEEMS THEY'RE ALLOWED TO ASSIGN THE B TEAM TO THIS PROBLEM PART-TIME - AS LONG AS THEY SAY THEY'RE WORKING ON IT, WHO CARES IF A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE STUCK WITH LONG-TERM ILLEGAL VEHICLES. THIS IS ONE HECK OF A WAY TO TREAT CUSTOMERS, AND THERE MUST BE SOME **QUICK** AVENUE OF REDRESS FOR US, BECAUSE WE NEED A CAR NOW.

CHRYSLER HAS ISSUED OVER 10 RECALLS ON MY 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND HAVE FAILED TO COMPLETE ANY OF THE REQUIRED RECALL SERVICE. THEY HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY PARTS FROM THEIR SUPPLIERS TO REPLACE THE DEFECTIVE PARTS COVERED UNDER THE RECALL. THE AMOUNT OF AFFECTED VEHICLES ARE OVER 950.000 CHRYSLER HAS STILL FAILED TO RESOLVE ANY OF THE OUTSTANDING RECALLS ON MY VEHICLE, AND HAS NOT OFFERED SUBSTITUTE TRANSPORTATION AFTER 9 MONTHS THAT THE NUMEROUS RECALLS WERE ISSUED, AND NOT RESOLVED DUE TO ZERO AVAILABILITY OF REPLACEMENT PARTS.
