INSURANCE COMPANY WRITES ON BEHALF OF CONSUMER REGARDING AIRBAGS *TGW BOTH AIR BAG DEPLOYED WHILE THE CONSUMER WAS DRIVING. A RECALL WAS ISSUED FOR SOME MODELS REGARDING AN INCORRECT PASSENGER AIR BAG WIRE HARNESS IN THE AIR BAG. *JB
THE HEATER FAILED IN MY 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THIS IS APPARENTLY A VERY COMMON PROBLEM IN THIS MODEL. PREVIOUSLY THE SEAT HEATERS OVERHEATED AND THE POWER STEERING HOSE FAILED. *TR
1. I HAD MY JEEP 2002 GRAND CHEROKEE REPAIRED THEN A FEW HOURS LATER IT BROKE DOWN AGAIN. WHEN I STOPPED AND TURNED IT OFF THE ENGINE CONTINUED MAKING NOISE, THE COOLANT RAN OUT THE BOTTOM OF THE VEHICLE AND THE CAR WAS HOT AND SMELLED BAD. 2. I CALLED LITHIA IN CONCORD, IT WAS THE RADIATOR COOLING FAN AND IT WAS INOPERABLE. THEY ESTIMATED THE REPAIR AT $1400. I HAD JUST PAID $1400 TO HAVE THIS CAR REPAIRED, I BOUGHT THE CAR AND A WARRANTY FROM LITHIA IN DECEMBER. THE WARRANTY AND LITHIA AND CHRYSLER-DAIMLER WOULD NOT HELP WITH THE REPAIR. I FINALLY HAD IT TOWED ELSEWHERE. 3. I AM NOW TRYING TO GET IT REPAIRED BUT THE RADIATOR COOLING FAN IS NOT AVAILABLE. IT'S COMPLETELY OUT OF STOCK AND ON BACK ORDER FROM JEEP. THEY CAN'T MAKE THEM FAST ENOUGH TO REPLACE THE BROKEN ONES, AND THIS PART COSTS OVER $900. HOWEVER, IT IS NOT A RECALL ITEM. *TR
DRIVERS SIDE FRONT HEATED SEAT WORKED INTERMITTENTLY AT FIRST THEN ONE TIME GOT EXTREMELY HOT AND NO LONGER WORKS. THE MECHANIC WHERE WE PURCHASED FOUND THE HEATED SEAT ELEMENT HAD BURNED IN TWO AND THE FOAM CUSHION HAD BURNT AS WELL. TOLD US TO CONTACT CHRYSLER, THEY SAID OUR VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN RECALL. *TR
QUADRO TRAC TRANSMISSIONS NO LONGER WORKS IN 4 WHEEL DRIVE. IT JUST STOPPED WORKING WITH NO WARNING OR NOTICEABLE EQUIPMENT FAILURE. *TR
DRIVER SIDE SEAT LOWER FRAME BROKE WHILE ME DRIVING AND MADE ME SWERVE LEFT ALMOST RUNNING OFF THE BY-PASS,UPON LOOKING AT MY SEAT I REVEALED A CRACKED LOWER SEAT FRAME,WHICH MAKES ME VERY UNCOMFORTABLE WHEN DRIVING, THE SEAT IS VERY LOOSE. MY ACTUAL WEIGHT IS 210LBS 5 11" I FEEL THAT THE SEAT SHOULD BE ASSEMBLED TO EASILY HANDLE A 250LB PERSON. *TR
I DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW THE NHTSA CAN IGNORE THE PROBLEM WITH THE HVAC BLEND DOOR ASSEMBLY UNIT ON THE WJ JEEPS. HOW CAN HAVING NO HEAT AND NO DEFROSTER NOT BE A SAFETY ISSUE. I LIVE IN MAINE AND CAN NOT AFFORD THE ESTIMATED $1200 REPAIR TO FIX THIS WIDELY KNOWN DEFECT. TRY DRIVING IN 15 DEGREE WHETHER WITH SNOW ON THE ROADS AND NO DEFROSTER. GUESS WHAT HAPPENS? YOUR BREATH CAUSES THE WINDOWS TO FOG HENCE TO THE POINT ON NO VISIBILITY. I SLID OFF THE ROAD AFTER HITTING A SNOW BANK ON THE SIDE BECAUSE I COULD NOT SEE AND WAS TRYING TO SCRAPE THE QUARTER INCH ON FROST ON MY WINDOW OFF. MY 2002 JEEP CHEROKEE LIMITED FRONT DRIVER SEAT BRACKETS HAVE BROKEN ON ALL 4 LEGS WHERE THEY BOLT ONTO THE FLOOR.. I HAD THEM WELDED BACK AND IT APPEARED STURDY UNTIL THE OTHER DAY WHEN I WENT TO GET INTO THE SEAT... THE LEFT UPPER FRONT BRACE BROKE COMPLETELY THRU. I CALLED CROSS JEEP IN LOUISVILLE KY, TO REPLACE THIS PART... THEY SAID I HAD TO PAY $331 IN ADVANCE AND COULDN'T GIVE ME A VERY GOOD DATE WHEN THE ORDER WILL BE FILLED... HE PULLED UP CURRENT ORDERS FROM DEC 2009 AND THE ETA ON THEIR SEATS WAS JUNE 2010.. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY PROBLEM.... WHILST DRIVING HEARD A SNAP AND THE FRONT DRIVER'S SEAT STARTED TO WOBBLE. THE METAL BRACKET SNAPPED. THIS IS A 2003 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. *TR
DRIVER SIDE SEAT TOTALLY BROKE, INCLUDING THE BRACKETS ON THE BOTTOM, AND THE RIGHT SIDE OF THE BACK PART OF THE SEAT. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS, WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WHEN IT HAPPENED AND THE SEAT JUST SNAPPED. NOW I'M HAVING A HARD TIME FINDING A REPLACEMENT SEAT... *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN SHE TRIED TO ACCELERATE FROM THE STOP LIGHT, THE VEHICLE DID NOT RESPOND IMMEDIATELY. WHEN THE CONTACT REMOVED HER FOOT FROM THE GAS PEDAL, THE VEHICLE LUNGED FORWARD. THE VEHICLE THEN BEGAN TO ACCELERATE VERY SLOWLY AND WITHIN A FEW MINUTES IT STARTED TO DRIVE NORMALLY. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE HEATER DUCTS WOULD NOT FUNCTION CORRECTLY DUE TO LEAKAGE IN THE EVAPORATOR COIL. THE HEATER CORE WAS REPLACED BY THE DEALER. AFTER THE REPAIR, MOIST AIR EMITTED THROUGHOUT THE VENTS CAUSING THE WINDOWS TO BECOME FOGGY. THE CONTACT HAD CONCERN WITH THE HEALTH AND SAFETY HAZARDS REGARDING THE AIR QUALITY CIRCULATED THROUGHOUT THE VENTS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,351.
DRIVER'S SIDE HEATED SEAT GOT EXTREMELY HOT AND HAS SINCE QUIT WORKING. CALLED DEALER AND CHRYSLER/JEEP AND BOTH SAY IT IS NOT COVERED UNDER THE CURRENT RECALL #J14. I SEE WHERE THERE ARE 17 UNDER THE "SEAT" HEADING OF COMPONENT AND OTHERS UNDER THE ELECTRICAL HEADING. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL SOMEDAY AND SOON. *TR

THE CONTACT RECEIVED RECALL NOTIFICATIONS FOR NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 06E011000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE), 06E022000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC), AND 12V527000 (AIR BAGS). THE DEALER STATED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED TO COMPLETE THE REPAIRS WERE NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICES MONTHS AGO. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO. WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE DEALERSHIP. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE THE FAN RELAY HAD TO BE REPLACED SEVERAL DIFFERENT TIMES. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 75000.
MY DRIVERS SEAT HAS BROKEN OFF OF MY CAR OFFERING NO SUPPORT IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. THE BRACKET THAT HOLDS THE SEAT ONTO THE CAR BROKE AT THE BASE WHERE THE BOLTS HOLD IT ONTO THE CAR. IF JUST SITTING IN THE SEAT BREAKS IT HOW WELL WILL THIS HOLD UP IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT? GETTING INTO AN ACCIDENT AT A HIGHWAY SPEED COULD TOTALLY BREAK THE SEAT OFF OF THE CAR AND OFFER NO HELP IN THE EVENT OF A CRASH. IN MY OPINION THE SEAT SHOULD NEVER BREAK OFF OF THE CAR. THE SEAT AND THE SEATBELT ARE THE ONLY THINGS OFFERING ME SUPPORT IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. I HAVE HAD OLDER CARS BEFORE THIS ONE WITH MORE MILES THAT HAVE NEVER HAD THIS PROBLEM. *TR
DUE TO POOR MANUFACTURING AND LOW QUALITY PARTS, 1999-2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES HAVE BEEN SUBJECT TO BREAKAGE OF INTERIOR PARTS CONTROLLING THE HEATING AND A/C SYSTEMS, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE BLEND DOORS AND ACTUATOR. THIS SYSTEM BREAKDOWN CAN OCCUR SUDDENLY, AND CAN AFFECT BOTH THE A/C AND HEATING SYSTEMS. WHEN THIS OCCURRED TO MY 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LTD. IT WAS IN THE DEAD OF WINTER (DEC 2009) AND THE WEATHER HAD BEEN EXTREMELY COLD. I WAS UNABLE TO PROPERLY DEFROST MY WINDOWS, CAUSING EXTREME DIFFICULTY IN SEEING OUT OF MY WINDSHIELD AND RIGHT SIDE MIRROR. BECAUSE OF THIS I WAS OFTEN HAVING TO ROLL DOWN MY WINDOWS--EVEN IF IT WAS SNOWING--IN ORDER TO DRIVE SAFELY TO SCHOOL AND WORK. IN MARCH I TOOK MY CAR TO A LOCAL JEEP DEALERSHIP TO GET MORE INFORMATION ON THIS ISSUE AND I WAS TOLD BY ONE OF THE SERVICE ADVISOR THAT THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM IN MANY JEEPS, AND IS SEEN VERY FREQUENTLY. DUE TO THE PROBLEM BEING IN THE DASH OF THE VEHICLE, THE REPAIR QUOTE IS OVER $1,300.00, AND IS NOT COVERED BY MY PRE-OWNED VEHICLE PROTECTION PLAN WITH WESTERN GENERAL. DAIMLER-CHRYSLER HAS RECEIVED THOUSANDS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ISSUE BUT REFUSES TO RECALL A WARRANTY OR ASSIST JEEP OWNERS IN REPAIRING BROKEN PARTS. I AM NOT COMFORTABLE PAYING $1,300 AND BEING PENALIZED FOR DAIMLER-CHRYSLER'S MISTAKE WHEN, IF REPAIRED WITH THE SAME PARTS, I COULD BE FACING THIS SAME ISSUE AGAIN VERY SOON! *TR
MY HEATED SEAT ON MY 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND GOT TO HOT AND MELTED THE SEAT PADDING ON THE DRIVERS SIDE IT DOSE NOT WORK AND THERE IS A RECALL ON THEM AND MY JEEP IS NOT ON THE RECALL. *TR
I AM PAYING FOR A 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE THAT I PURCHASED USED IN 12-06. I HAVE HAD A PROBLEM WITH THE HEATER 6 MONTHS AFTER I PURCHASED IT USED, WHICH THE DEALER WOULD NOT REPAIR. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND NO ONE RETURNED MY CALL UNTIL THIS MONTH. I RECEIVED A RECALL ABOUT THE FAN BLADES AND TOOK IT INTO THE SHOP. PRIOR TO THE SHOP APPOINTMENT THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, I ASKED THE SERVICE TECH TO CHECK WHY THE HEATER WAS NOT WORKING AND WHY THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. HE CALLED ME TO TELL ME THAT THE RECALL PART WAS ON BACK ORDER AND THAT THE BLEND MOTOR AND DOORS ON THE HEATER WERE BROKEN AND THAT THE LEAK DETECTION PUMP HAD GONE OUT, WHICH WOULD PREVENT ME FROM GETTING IT INSPECTED. HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT THE HEATER PLUGS WERE MELTED AND IT NEEDED A WIRING HARNESS REPLACEMENT. THE DASH GETS VERY HOT WHICH HAS MELTED THE PLUGS BUT NO HEAT IS BLOWING INTO THE VEHICLE. THIS COULD CAUSE A FIRE INSIDE THE VEHICLE. ALSO THE LEAK DETECTION PUMP IS AN EMISSIONS PROBLEM AND PER FEDERALLAW HAS TO BE OPERATING IN ORDER TO PASS INSPECTION. I SPOKE WITH CHRYSLER AND ASKED THEM TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE AND THEY LAUGHED AT ME, TELLING ME THIS VEHICLE HAD BEEN OUT OF WARRANTY FOR 4.5 YEARS. (IT WAS OUT WHEN I PURCHASED IT.)AND IF IT WERE STILL UNDER WARRANTY THEN THEY WOULD FIX IT. I ALSO ASKED WHY IF THE RECALL HAD BEEN OUT SINCE 2006 THEN WHY WAS I JUST NOW GETTING IT, AND THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER WHICH TELLS ME THAT I HAVE BEEN DRIVING AN UNSAFE VEHICLE.HE ALSO TOLD ME THAT THE HEATER BEING BROKEN WAS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE, IT IS DUE TO NOT HAVING HEAT TO DEFROST WINDOWS AND PLUGS MELTING COULD CAUSE A FIRE. I HAVE CHECKED THE WEB AND THERE ARE SO MANY WEB SITES THAT TALK ABOUT THESE PROBLEMS WITH THE JEEPS THAT GO BACK TO 1998- 2005. THE CONTACT DISASSEMBLED THE SEAT AND NOTICED THAT THE WIRES WITHIN THE SEAT WERE MELTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS OR REPAIRS. 2001 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HEATED SEAT FAILURE AND FIRE, THE HEATED SEAT STOPPED WORKING ON INVESTIGATION OF THE CAUSE IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE CARBON FIBER ELEMENT IN THE SEAT CUSHION HAD FAILED AND BURNED THE SURROUNDING FOAM AND SEAT COVER MATERIAL. *TR

TAKATA RECALL, WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON A HIGHWAY IN MINOT ND, STARTED TO SMELL SMOKE AND SOMETHING HOT SMELLING, THEN MY RIGHT DRIVERS LEG WAS GETTING HOT. I LOOKED DOWN AND MY DRIVERS SEAT WAS SMOKING UNDERNEATH. HURRIED TO STOP ALONG THE SIDE OF ROAD, TURNED OFF SEAT WARMER BUTTON, THEN OPENED THE DRIVERS DOOR TO CLEAR THE SMOKE AND COOL UNDER THE SEAT. REPORTED THIS TO CHRYSLER, THEY STATED MY VIN # WAS NOT ON THE RECALL LIST. IF IT CAUGHT FIRE--IT SOUND BE ON LIST BY NOW. THIS COULD BE VERY DANGEROUS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY IF THE PASSENGER SIDE DOES THE SAME THING AS DRIVERS SIDE DID. TOOK MY 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE INTO DEALERSHIP TO FIX A WINDOW. WHEN I PICKED IT UP THEY HAD CHANGED SOME PART THAT WAS A RECALL ON MY HEATED SEATS. THE HEATED SEATS THEN BURNED OUT A MODULE AND THE DEALERSHIP SAID THAT IT WAS NOT THEIR PROBLEM AND THAT IT WOULD COST $200.00 PER SEAT TO FIX. I COULDN'T BELIEVE IT. OBVIOUSLY I NOW HAVE SEATS THAT ONLY HEAT ON HIGH. *TR

IN MAY 2009 MY PASSENGER FRONT WINDOW REGULATOR WENT OUT. MY LOCAL JEEP DEALERSHIP SAID THAT JEEP MAKES CHEAP WINDOW REGULATOR PARTS AND THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH JEEPS. YET THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME $497.00 TO FIX PROBLEM. I WENT AHEAD AND FIXED IT, BECAUSE I COULDN'T DRIVE AROUND WITH A WINDOW ROLLED DOWN EVERYWHERE I WENT. NOW 5 MONTHS LATER THE PASSENGER REAR WINDOW HAS ALSO BROKEN, DUE TO THE SAME PROBLEM AND THE SUNROOF WILL ALSO NOT CLOSE PROPERLY. I FEEL THAT IF JEEP ADMITS TO USING CHEAP PARTS FOR THEIR WINDOWS, THEN THEY SHOULD ALSO FIX THEM FOR FREE WHEN THEY BREAK SO OFTEN. I CANNOT AFFORD CLOSE TO $500 PER WINDOW EVERY 6 MONTHS WHEN THEY KEEP BREAKING. *TR

HE WOULD ONLY BE ABLE TO ADJUST THE HEATER TO LOW WHICH HE NOTICED NO PROBLEMS WITH TO-DATE. HE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD THAT FAILURE WAS COMMON FOR HIS MODEL TYPE.. HE REFERENCED RECALL 09V117000(SEATS:FRONT ASSEMBLY:SEAT HEATER/COOLER), BUT THE MANUFACTURER TOLD HIM THAT HIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED TO-DATE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 67,452. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A LOCAL BODY SHOP, AND A MECHANIC CONCLUDED THAT THE SEAT BRACKET NEED TO BE REPLACED. NO REPAIRS WERE MADE TO THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE UNDER 99,685.
SAME COMMON PROBLEM THAT HAS OCCURRED ON THOUSANDS OF CHRYSLER/JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE'S. THE BLEND DOOR ACTUATORS THAT REGULATE HOT AND COLD AIR FAIL SO THAT HEAT STOPS WORKING ENTIRELY. THIS ALSO MEANS THE DEFROST STOPS WORKING WHICH IS A MAJOR SAFETY HAZARD WHEN DRIVING IN WET AND COLD CLIMATES LIKE THE WINTER MONTHS IN WASHINGTON STATE. I RECENTLY DROVE OVER ONE OF OUR MOUNTAIN PASSES AND COULD NOT SEE ANYTHING BECAUSE IT WAS SNOWING AND I COULD NOT DEFROST THE WINDSHIELD. THE REPAIR COSTS $1600 AT A CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP. *TR
THE HEATER ON MY 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ONLY WORKS APPROX. 25% OF THE TIME. THE PERSON I PURCHASED IT FROM SAID IT ONLY HAPPENED TO HER EVERY SO OFTEN, BUT THAT IT HAD GOTTEN WORSE. SINCE I'VE OWNED IT, IT HAS CONTINUED TO GET PROGRESSIVELY WORSE. I'M CONCERNED AS WINTER IS APPROACHING AND I'LL NEED TO SEE OUT THE WINDSHIELD AND WILL NEED A HEAT DEFROSTER FOR IT LIVING HERE IN NEBRASKA. THIS IS A LONG KNOWN PROBLEM AND I'M SHOCKED THAT CHRYSLER HAS NOT RECALLED THIS PROBLEM AS IT POSES MAJOR SAFETY IMPLICATIONS. I'VE WORKED ON CARS FOR 15 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HEARD OF A HEATER GOING BAD. AS ANY MECHANIC OUT THERE, HEATERS DON'T GO BAD UNLESS THE WHOLE HEATER CORE IS BAD, IN WHICH CASE I'D HAVE A FLOOR FULL OF ANTI-FREEZE, WHICH I DO NOT HAVE. MY JEEP HAS NOT LOST AN OUNCE OF FLUID AND RUNS AT PERFECT OPERATING TEMPERATURE. IT'S AN OBVIOUS ELECTRICAL PROBLEM THAT JEEP SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR! THEN MY WINDOW FELL IN THE DOOR PROVIDING ME NO PROTECTION ON I-95. MOST RECENTLY, IN JUNE 2009, MY PASSENGER WINDOW FAILED DURING A MAJOR ELECTRICAL STORM (EVENING OF JUNE 11, 2009 IN WILMINGTON, DE) LEAVING MYSELF AND CAR SOAKED WITH NO PROTECTION. *TR
THREE OF FOUR POWER WINDOW REGULATORS HAVE FAILED SUDDENLY AND WITHOUT NOTICE, ALL WITHIN A YEAR OF EACH OTHER WITH THE MOST RECENT BEING LAST WEEK. EACH TIME IT OCCURS, THERE IS A POPPING SOUND FOLLOWED BY THE WINDOW DROPPING INTO THE DOOR. I HAVE SO FAR BEEN FORTUNATE TO ONLY HAVE THIS HAPPEN WHEN DRIVING AT SPEEDS <30MPH AND WITHOUT MY CHILD OR DOG BEING IN THE VEHICLE; HOWEVER, THERE'S STILL THAT 4TH WINDOW WITH THE SAME FAULTY PLASTIC COMPONENT THAT HAS BEEN FAILING. I REPLACED THE FIRST WINDOW REGULATOR AT FULL COST AT THE DEALERSHIP WHEN IT HAPPENED LAST YEAR. WHEN THE SECOND ONE WENT OUT, I DIDN'T FIX IT BECAUSE OF THE COST AND THE FACT THAT IT WAS A REAR WINDOW. AFTER THE THIRD ONE FAILED, I GOT SUSPICIOUS. THE SERVICE MANAGER AT THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP HAS STATED THAT HE HAS SEEN THIS ISSUE ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS MOSTLY WITH THE LIBERTY MODEL, BUT ON THE GRAND CHEROKEE AS WELL. IT IS OBVIOUS THAT CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE; HOWEVER, EACH AGENT I SPOKE WITH ON THEIR HELP LINE TRIED TO DOWNPLAY THE ISSUE LIKE IT WAS A FREAK OCCURRENCE AND THAT THERE WAS NO REASON FOR A RECALL. BASED ON THE RESEARCH I'M NOW SEEING ONLINE AND THE COMMENTS FROM THE SERVICE MANAGER, I KNOW THIS IS NOT THE CASE. *TR

I HAVE A 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE W/ 105,000 MILES. I HAVE BEEN MYSTERIOUSLY LOSING COOLANT FOR ABOUT THE LAST 5,000 MILES AND NOW MY OIL PRESSURE IS GOING TO 0 WHEN AT IDLE. AFTER CHECKING ON THIS ONLINE I FIND THAT THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT.THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM FOR MANY JEEP OWNERS AND SOME KIND OF RECALL OR FACTORY REPAIR SHOULD BE FORCED ASAP. THIS PROBLEM WILL INEVITABLY LEAD TO AN ENGINE REPLACEMENT.THIS VEHICLE HAS HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS SINCE I BOUGHT IT (2ND OWNER) AND DID ALL THE REPAIRS MYSELF BUT THIS REPAIR IS A MAJOR ENGINE OVERHAUL AND SIGNIFICANT EXPENSE. MY SON'S 2002 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE DRIVER'S SEAT STARTED WOBBLING AND THEN COMPLETELY BROKE LOOSE FROM THE FRAME. HE IS 240 LBS AND WAS JUST DRIVING NORMALLY. OVER TIME ... THE WOBBLING GRADUALLY GOT WORSE. THE SEAT COMPLETELY BROKE LOOSE AS HE WAS ACCELERATING AFTER WAITING FOR A STOP LIGHT. I REMOVED THE SEAT TO SEE WHAT WAS WRONG AND SAW THAT BOTH BRACKETS THAT ARE WELDED TO THE FRONT ROD THAT RUNS PARALLEL WITH THE FRONT OF THE DRIVERS SEAT WERE CRACKED AND THE FRONT BOLT ON THE DOOR SIDE OF THE DRIVERS SEAT RIPPED RIGHT THROUGH THE FLIMSY METAL BRACKET ON THE BASE OF THE SEAT. THIS STRUCTURAL DEFECT IS "LIFE THREATENING." HE ALMOST FELL BACKWARDS INTO THE BACK SEAT. HAD THERE BEEN OTHER CARS COMING AT THIS INTERSECTION, HE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO REACT. I CHECKED THE INTERNET AND SAW THAT THIS SEAT/STRUCTURAL DEFECT ON JEEPS GOES BACK TO 1999. HOW CAN THE NHTSA AND JEEP/CHRYSLER IGNORE THIS PROBLEM FOR YEARS? THIS SHOULD BE A SAFETY RECALL. I OWN A 2002 JEEP CHEROKEE 4X4 QUAD DRIVE ,I RECENTLY BROKE DOWN HAD TO BE TOWED. THE PROBLEM WAS COOLING FAN. DUE TO THE RELAY SWITCH. THIS IS JUST ONE OF MANY ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS I HAVE WITH THIS JEEP THE DOOR LOCK MOTORS FAILED THE WINDOWS FAILED ON BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE DOORS THE BK HATCH FAILED. THE COST FOR THE RELAY PKG WAS 347.59 I HAVE YET TO REPLACE PASSENGERSIDE WINDOW OPERATOR AND DRIVERSIDE DOOR LOCKS AS THEY ARE BOTH WELL OVER 300.00 EACH.
