THERE WERE NO EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE THAT I AM AWARE OF. I ATTEMPTED TO USE THE HEAT THIS PAST WINTER, AND NOTHING WOULD BLOW OUT. NO HEAT, NO AIR, NO DEFROST. MY WINDOWS WILL NOT DEFROST. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY DIAGNOSED IT AS BROKEN BLEND DOORS. NEEDS BLEND DOOR HOUSING. THEY WERE ASKING AROUND $1,000.00 TO FIX IT. I RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM ONLINE AND FOUND A FORUM WHERE MANY PEOPLE WERE EXPERIENCING THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM WITH THE SAME MODEL. THIS IS A FACTORY DEFECT. NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE TO CORRECT THE FAILURE. I DON'T HAVE THIS KIND OF MONEY. MY VEHICLE WAS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD. I CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER TO NO AVAIL. THIS SUMMER I , ALONG WITH MANY OTHERS, WILL HAVE NO AIR TO KEEP THEM COOL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH, THE HEATER AND AIR CONDITIONER FAILED TO PROPERLY REGULATE AND FUNCTION. IN ADDITION, THE THERMOSTAT DISPLAYED AN INCORRECT READING. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER MULTIPLE TIMES WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE MODE DOOR AND THE HEAT ACTUATOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ANOTHER DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CONTROL HEAD NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE OR REPAIR THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
I HAVE 2 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE BOTH HAVE HAD TO HAVE DASH COMPLETELY PULLED AND BLEND DOORS REPLACED AT A COST OF $1100 AND THEY BOTH HAVE ONLY 50,000 MILES. I WAS ON A LONG TRIP THREW THE COLORADO MOUNTAINS AND PASSENGER SIDE WOULD BLOW ONLY COLD AIR ,UNABLE TO CLEAR WINDSHIELDS OF FOG. VISIBILITY/SAFETY HAZARD. JEEP KNOWS THEY HAVE THIS PROBLEM HAPPENS TO ALL OF THERE VEHICLES 99-04. THEY EVEN HAVE A TSB, BUT $1100.00 TO FIX? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ENTERING THE VEHICLE, SHE CLOSED THE FRONT DRIVER'S DOOR WHEN THE WINDOW FELL INSIDE THE DOOR PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO A PRIVATE MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE WINDOW REGULATOR HAD FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 99,000.
IN 2006, THE HEAT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF MY 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE QUIT WORKING. THIS YEAR, 2007, THERE IS NO HEAT ON EITHER SIDE, JUST BLOWS AIR. THE REPAIR SHOP WANTS OVER $1,000 TO FIX THE BLEND DOORS. I RESEARCHED THIS ON THE INTERNET, AND THERE ARE NUMEROUS PEOPLE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THEIR JEEPS. *TR
GAS/HYDRAULIC STRUTS WILL NOT HOLD HOOD OPEN - I RAISED HOOD TO CLEAN AROUND IT AND IT CAME BACK DOWN ON MY HANDS. FORTUNATELY , I WAS FAST ENOUGH TO PICK THEM UP TO "ALMOST" CATCH THE HOOD AND NOT DO ANY SIGNIFICANT DAMAGE TO THEM. BUT STILL - CAR IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD AND HAD LESS THAN 20,000 MILES! *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ONE MONTH AFTER SHE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE, SHE NOTICED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE EXTERIOR MIRROR WOULD BECOME CLOUDY. SHE ACTIVATED THE HEATED MIRROR TO CLEAR IT UP, WHICH WORKED TEMPORARILY. HOWEVER, OVER THE LAST FEW MONTHS, THE FRAME AROUND THE INSIDE OF THE MIRROR FRACTURED AND CAUSED THE MIRROR TO CLOUD COMPLETELY OVER TO THE POINT OF ZERO VISIBILITY. BOTH THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY; THEREFORE, THEY WOULD NOT REPAIR THE VEHICLE FOR FREE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 43,000.
TL*-THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, THE DRIVER SIDE HEATED SEAT UNEXPECTEDLY ACTIVATED WITHOUT ASSISTANCE. THE SEAT EXERTED EXCESSIVE HEAT. THE FAILURE OCCURRED SPORADIC. THE CONTACT PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND WAITED UNTIL THE SEAT WAS COMPLETELY COOLED DOWN BEFORE HE CONTINUED TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE. THERE WAS A RECALL UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER 06V197000 (SEATS: FRONT ASSEMBLY: SEAT HEATER/COOLER). THE VIN WAS EXCLUDED FROM THE RECALL DEFECT. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR THE IDENTICAL FAILURE ON FIVE SEPARATE OCCASIONS WHERE DIAGNOSTIC TESTING WAS PERFORMED. WHEN THE DEALER PERFORMED THE MOST RECENT DIAGNOSTIC TESTING THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THAT THE OWNER HE WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR FIFTY PERCENT OF THE REPAIR COST. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT . THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 104,500. UPDATED 11/16/10. *LJ
2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE DUAL ZONE PASSENGER SIDE HEAT DID NOT WORK AT THE ONSET OF COLD WEATHER. DEALER STATED THE BLEND AIR DOOR WAS BROKE. HOWEVER TO FIX THE BROKEN PART THE ENTIRE DASH ASSEMBLY ALONG WITH HEATER COIL AND AC COIL HAD TO BE REMOVED. THE COST OF THE PART WAS MINIMAL COMPARED TO THE LABOR EXPENSE TO REPLACE THE PART. *TR
I RECENTLY PURCHASED A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND NOTICED THE RIGHT TAIL LIGHT WAS OUT. IT WAS REPAIRED AND THEN WENT OUT AGAIN RECENTLY. IT IS NOT THE BULB! MY FATHER ALSO HAS A JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND HE TOO HAS A TAIL LIGHT THAT DOESN'T WORK ON A CONSISTENT BASIS. I HAVE SINCE BEGUN TO NOTICE THAT THERE ARE MANY OTHER JEEPS WITH DRIVING AROUND WITH TAIL LIGHTS OUT. I AM WONDERING IF IT IS SOME KIND OF MANUFACTURING FLAW IN THE LIGHT OR THE WIRING SYSTEM. A ONE FOOT HYDRAULIC BRAKE LINE AT THE REAR OF MY VEHICLE IS BADLY RUSTED AND THE FITTINGS ARE LEAKING. *TR
I BOUGHT A NEW 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE FROM HOOVER CHRYSLER/JEEP IN SUMMERVILLE SC. WHILE STILL ON WARRANTY THE DRIVERS SIDE AUTOMATIC WINDOW FAILED TO THE DOWN POSITION DUE TO A DEFECTIVE REGULATOR. THIS OCCURRENCE HAPPENED IN OUR SECOND YEAR OF OWNERSHIP AND WAS REPAIRED BY THE DEALERSHIP. THE SAME FAILURE OCCURRED AGAIN TO THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR WINDOW ON 4/4/07 AND AGAIN TO THE PASSENGERS FRONT WINDOW ON 9/15/07. ALL OF THESE FAILURES WERE ATTRIBUTED TO A COMMON REGULATOR NEITHER THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP NOR CHRYSLER CORP. HAS ISSUED ANY RECALL OR ADMITTED ANY CAPABILITY FOR THIS OBVIOUSLY DEFECTIVE PART. *JB

RAISED HOOD OF 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. HAD HAND ON FENDER WHILE LOOKING IN RIGHT FRONT WHEEL WELL. HOOD CLOSED WITHOUT WARNING, UPON APPARENT FAILURE OF GAS-STRUT HOOD SUPPORTS, MASHING AND TRAPPING TWO FINGERS BETWEEN HOOD AND FENDER. UNDERSTAND FROM DEALER OTHERS STRUCK ON HEAD UPON FAILURE OF HOOD STRUTS. *TR

I WAS RECENTLY IN AN AUTO ACCIDENT GOING ABOUT 30 MPH WHERE I RAN INTO THE REAR END OF ANOTHER VEHICLE. I DRIVE A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LAREDO. MY CONCERN IS NEITHER MY DRIVER NOR MY PASSENGER AIR BAG WENT OFF AND I HIT THE OTHER VEHICLE HARD ENOUGH THAT THE FRONT OF MY JEEP PUSHED MY PASSENGER FENDER BACK TO WHERE I WAS UNABLE TO OPEN MY PASSENGER DOOR. I HAVE A 2004 JEEP CHEROKEE, MY DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW MADE A BANG NOISE (SOUNDED LIKE SOMEONE HIT THE DOOR WITH A BAT) AND THE WINDOW SLID DOWN INTO THE DOOR! IT SCARED ME! I TOOK IN THE NEXT DAY TO GET IT FIXED....$400!! AND THE MAN TOLD ME HE'S HAD SEVERAL OF THESE COME IN AND HE'S HAD TO REPLACE. I THINK JEEP SHOULD RECALL THEM AND FIX THEM. PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR BROKE - THIS TYPE OF PART SHOULD NOT BREAK ON A 2004 VEHICLE. AS I READ ONLINE THERE ARE MANY MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM. APPERENTLY THERE ARE SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH THIS PART, MY LOCAL AUTO-ZONE STORE COULD NOT EVEN ORDER THE PART FROM THEIR SUPPLIER. JEEP DEALERS WANT IN EXCESS OF $400 DOLLARS FOR PARTS AND LABOR TO FIX THIS. MAJOR INCOVEINCE CONSIDERING MY VEHICHLE CANNOT BE USED NOW FOR AT LEAST A WEEK AND I WILL NEED TO TAKE A LIMO TO AND FROM THE AIRPORT AT AN EXPENSE OF $270 ROUNDTRIP UNTIL THE PART GETS DELIVERED. WITHIN THE NEXT 2K-3K MILES THE FRONT END SHAKE BECAME EXTREMELY INTENSE AND IS STILL ONGOING. WHEN SPEEDS IN EXCESS OF 30 MPH ARE REACHED, VERY INTENSE FRONT END PULSATIONS OCCUR WITHOUT FAILURE EACH AND EVERYTIME THE BRAKES ARE APPLIED. JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED 2004 THE HVAC SYSTEM MY HEAT IS NOT WORKING IN MY CAR NOR IS THE DEFOGGER DEFROSTER ON THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW AND I CAN'T SEE. THE AZC GIVES ME CODES 54 AND 56 THE LEFT AND RIGHT DOOR TRAVEL IS TOO LARGE. I ONLY HAVE HEAT ON THE PASSENGER SIDE OF THE CAR. THE DRIVERS SIDE BLOWS ONLY COLD. ON 7-11-07 PASSENGER SIDE FRONT WINDOW ROLLED DOWN AND WOULD NOT ROLL UP. DEALER ADVISED IT WAS A WINDOW REGULATOR FAILURE. COST $389 TO FIX. ON 9-25-07 DRIVER SIDE FRONT WINDOW ROLLED DOWN AND WOULD NOT ROLL UP. DEALER ADVISED IT WAS AGAIN A WINDOW REGULATOR FAILURE. COST $384 TO FIX. DEALERSHIP VERY COOPERATIVE AND EXPLAINED PROBLEM WAS NO UNCOMMON FOR THE VEHICLE AND STATED THIS HAS HAPPENED TO MANY PERSONS OWNING THE SAME VEHICLE. ADVISED ANOTHER VEHICLE SAME YEAR WAS IN THE SHOP AT THE SAME TIME WITH THE SAME REPAIR. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PLATFORM FRAME OF THE DRIVER'S SEAT BROKE THREE TIMES. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE SEAT BEGAN TO SHAKE WHICH ALERTED HIM TO THE FAILURE. THE FIRST TWO TIMES, HE WELDED THE SEAT TOGETHER, AND THE THIRD TIME, HE SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT FOR 02/26/2010 WITH THE DEALER. HE CALLED THE MANUFACTURER, FILED A COMPLAINT WITH A REPRESENTATIVE, AND WAS INSTRUCTED TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO A DEALER. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 67,750. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 39,000. UPDATED 03/26/10. *LJ THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN THE SEAT BROKE, IT CAUSED IT TO SHIFT AND IT BECAME UNSTABLE. CHRYSLER REFUSED TO PAY FOR THE REPAIRS BECAUSE THEY STATED THE SEAT FAILED DUE TO THE WELD. THE CONSUMER STATED THE SEAT CRACKED BEFORE IT WAS WELDED. AIR CONDITIONER BLOWER MOTOR FAILED TO OPERATE DUE TO MELTING OF CONNECTION OF WIRING HARNESS TO BLOWER MOTOR RESISTOR. POSSIBILITY OF FIRE WITH TOXIC FUMES. PART WAS REPLACED BY DEALER AND IS AVAILABLE.
ROLLING DOWN THE DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW IN 90 DEGREE TEMPERATURE, I HEARD A LARGE THUMP. WINDOW WOULD NOT ROLL BACK UP. WINDOW REGULATOR BUSTED. REPLACED WINDOW REGULATOR. *JB
I HAD TO REPLACE A WINDOW REGULATOR ON THE 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEEROKEE. THIS WAS THE THIRD TIME, ALL DIFFERENT WINDOWS. *AK
VISIBILITY: DEFROSTER/DEFOGGER SYSTEM:WINDSHIELD:BLOWER PASSENGER SIDE AC DOESN'T BLOW AS WELL (AS HARD AS) THE DRIVER SIDE VENT, AND THE AIR THAT DOES COME OUT IS HOT. IT'S THE OPPOSITE IN THE WINTER WHEN THE HEAT IS ON. PASSENGER SIDE ONLY MINIMAL BLOWING AND THE AIR IS VERY COLD???? ALSO AFFECTS THE DEFROST ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. NO WARM AIR ON PASSENGER SIDE, WINDOW WILL NOT DEFROST CAUSING VISIBILITY ISSUES!!!!!! *TR

SHE HAS NOT CONTACTED THE MANUFACTURER OR THE DEALER. THE HEAT SHUT OFF WHILE THE HEAT BUTTON WAS STILL ACTIVATED. AS A RESULT, THE AIR CONDITIONER IS NOT WORKING EITHER. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE CAUSE OF FAILURE WAS THE HEATING SYSTEM AND WOULD COST $2,000 TO BE REPAIRED. THE DEALER ALSO RECOMMENDED THAT SHE NOTIFY NHTSA TO DETERMINE IF THERE WERE ANY RECALLS ON HER VEHICLE. THERE WERE NONE THAT APPLIED TO HER VEHICLE. THE ENGINE SIZE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 38,830 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 37,500.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE MAKING A LEFT TURN AT 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STOP WHEN THE BRAKES WERE DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT WAS FINALLY ABLE TO DECELERATE AND TURNED THE VEHICLE OFF. THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE THROTTLE CABLE BECOMING STUCK. THE VEHICLE OPERATED NORMALLY ONCE THE THROTTLE CABLE WAS RELEASED. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO A REPAIR SHOP WHERE IT IS CURRENTLY BEING DIAGNOSED. THE PURCHASE DATE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 33,010.
BLEND DOOR FAILURE. NO HEAT ON DRIVER'S SIDE LIVING IN A VERY COLD CLIMATE. $800-$1500 TO FIX FOR A VEHICLE THAT IS ONLY 3 YEARS OLD. IT SHOULD BE A RECALL BECAUSE OF THE FACT IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THESE JEEPS.

THE 2004 JEEP CHEROKEE WITH 42,000 MILES ON IT HAD WINDOW REGULATORS ON BOTH FRONT DOORS MALFUNCTIONED ON SEPARATE OCCASIONS. ONE REGULATOR WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND REPLACED BY THE DEALERSHIP. I PAID ANOTHER PARTY TO REPLACE THE OTHER REGULATOR. THIS COULD HAVE RESULTED IN AN UNSAFE SITUATION DUE TO NO CONTROL OVER THE WINDOW UNITS. ON ONE EVENT IT WAS RAINING ,AND ON THE OTHER EVENT, THE CAR WAS PARKED IN A PUBLIC PARKING LOT.*AK
BLEND DOORS INOPERABLE. RESISTOR ALLOWS TOO MUCH TORQUE FOR THE PLASTIC BLEND DOOR TO HANDLE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE VEHICLE VIBRATES WHILE DRIVING AND WORSENED AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 55-60 MPH. THE FRONT ROTORS WERE REPLACED AT 44,000 MILES ON 05/2006. THE VEHICLE BEGAN VIBRATING AGAIN AND THE REAR ROTORS AT 47,000 MILES SHORTLY AFTER THE FRONT ROTORS. THE FRONT ROTORS WERE REPLACED AGAIN ON 04/2007 AT 59,000 MILES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT 4,000 MILES AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED, THE TRANSMISSION FAILED AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 63,700.

I AM HAVING A PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING, BRAKES, AND THE HEAT VENT. WHEN TURNING LEFT OR RIGHT, IT MAKES THIS AWFUL NOISE. WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES, THE STEERING WHEEL AND THE FRONT END BEGINS TO SHAKE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO GET THE BRAKES CHANGED AND THEY SAID THE PADS LOOK FINE. WHEN I HAD THE HEATER ON, IT WAS BLOWING COLD AIR ON THE PASSENGER SIDE. *TR
I WAS DRIVING HOME FROM A RESTAURANT LESS THAN A MILE AWAY FROM MY APARTMENT AND TOOK A LEFT TURN ONTO THE ROAD WHERE MY APARTMENT COMPLEX WAS LOCATED , AND THE CAR STARTED UP FINE AND WAS OKAY UNTIL ABOUT 3/4 OF THE WAY HOME. THE 2004 GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND AFTER MAKING THE LEFT TURN ACCELERATED UNCONTROLLABLY TO ABOUT 60-70 MPH ON A NOT-SO-STRAIGHT ROAD. THE BRAKES WERE APPLIED, WHICH DID NOTHING, THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS APPLIED FOR NO RESPONSE, FINALLY BEFORE RUNNING INTO ONCOMING TRAFFIC I PULLED THE KEYS OUT OF THE IGNITION AND PUSHED THE IGNITION INTO NEUTRAL AND THEN PARK. THE CAR SKIDDED TO A HALT RIGHT BEFORE I DEAD ENDED INTO ONCOMING 5 O'CLOCK TRAFFIC. THE CAR WAS OFF, SO I RESTARTED IT AND IT, BEING IN PARK TOOK OFF FORWARD AT MAXIMUM RPMS. 8 OR 9 THOUSAND RPMS IN PARK, AND MOVING! TALK ABOUT SCARY. IT DID THIS APPROXIMATELY 7 TIMES WHILE STARTING WHERE IT SKIDDED TO A STOP AFTER THE FIRST RAMPAGE. I WAITED UNTIL A GREEN LIGHT, TURNED THE KEY, IT TOOK OFF IN PARK, AND ALLOWED ME WHILE DRIVING TO MOVE THE SHIFTER TO DRIVE, HAULED AROUND THE TURN AT FULL SPEED INTO THE ADJACENT PARKING LOT WHERE IT FINALLY STARTED BEING NORMAL. THANKFULLY THAT PARKING LOT IS ADJACENT TO MY APT COMPLEX SO I DROVE BACK WITHOUT REALLY ANY TROUBLE ASIDE FROM A FEW OVER REVVED. LEFT THE CAR IN THE GARAGE, AND HAVE TURNED IT ON TWICE WITH NO ISSUE. ITS BEING TOWED IN THE MORNING FOR THE SECOND TIME THAT THIS TYPE OF PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED. I WILL NOW BE SELLING THIS CAR. *AK
WINDSHIELD VISIBILITY FREQUENTLY REDUCED DUE TO FAILURE OF HEATER/COOLING SYSTEM, VEHICLE HAS NO HEAT FOR DEFROSTER (OR OCCUPANTS). I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER, DESCRIBED THE PROBLEM AND WAS IMMEDIATELY TOLD THIS WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM IN THE JEEP LINE WITH THE BLEND DOOR MECHANISM AND WOULD COST $1,200 TO REPAIR. NOTE: THIS WAS BASED SOLELY ON A DESCRIPTION, NO MECHANIC WAS REQUIRED TO LOOK AT THE CAR; THIS ISSUE IS THAT WELL KNOWN TO THE DEALERSHIP. FURTHER, A DIAGNOSTIC WOULD REQUIRE REMOVAL OF THE DASH, COSTING $200-500 JUST TO CHECK/CONFIRM. I REPORTED THE PROBLEM AT 29,500 MILES (OF A 30,000 WARRANTY) BUT WAS TOLD I WAS BEYOND THE WARRANTY DATE. NO CORRECTIVE ACTION OR ACCOMODATION WAS OFFERED. *TR

JEEP DEALER QUOTED $1000 REPAIR - JEEP WILL NOT OFFER ANY WARRANTY. I SEE MANY OTHER CASES OF THIS ON THE INTERNET. THIS WAS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2004 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH A DUAL CONTROL A/C, WHICH ALLOWS THE DRIVER AND PASSENGER TO CONTROL THE TEMPERATURE ON THEIR OWN SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE BLEND DOOR ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WAS DEFECTIVE. THE DOOR PREVENTS HEAT FROM ENTERING AND CAUSES THE DEFROSTER TO WORK ONLY ON THE DRIVER SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. SHE TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A REPAIR SHOP AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A FAULTY BLEND DOOR. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. ON 2 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, MY JEEP LURCHED FORWARD WHILE PARKING. THE 1ST TIME I HAD TO PUT 2 FEET ON THE BRAKE PEDAL TO STOP IT, & THE JEEP WAS STILL TRYING TO DRAG ITSELF FORWARD. IT HAPPENED AGAIN 2 MONTHS LATER. ON MARCH 28, 2007, I HAD A MAJOR INCIDENT THAT HAS LEFT ME TERRIFIED OF EVER DRIVING THIS VEHICLE AGAIN. I PULLED OVER TO TRANSFER SOME THINGS TO ANOTHER VEHICLE. I PUT MY JEEP IN PARK & LEFT IT RUNNING. I GOT OUT OF THE JEEP (MY DRIVER'S DOOR WAS OPEN) & AS I GOT TO THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE, IT STARTED TO SLOWLY ROLL BACKWARDS. I RAN BACK & TRIED REACH THE BRAKE, BUT MY FOOT SLIPPED OFF & I HIT THE GAS PEDAL. THE JEEP LET OUT A ROAR - IT WAS REVVING UNCONTROLABLY (NORMAL IN A VEHICLE THAT IS IN PARK) - THEN I FELT A BANG & THE JEEP TOOK OFF, IN REVERSE, LIKE A SHOT. MY RIGHT FOOT GOT CAUGHT UNDER THE BRAKE PEDAL AS I SCRAMBLED FRANTICALLY TO GET INTO THE VEHICLE. MY SHOE CAME OFF, I WAS THROWN TO THE GROUND BY MY OPEN DRIVER'S DOOR & RUN OVER BY MY OWN JEEP. THE TRUCK CONTINUED IN REVERSE & SLAMMED INTOANOTHER VEHICLE. I WAS TAKEN BY AMBULANCE TO HOSPITAL FOR X-RAYS, A CT SCAN, AND A TETANUS SHOT. I HAVE A BROKEN TAILBONE, STAPLES CLOSING A GASH IN MY HEAD, ABRASIONS ON MY FEET AND HANDS, WRENCHED BACK & NECK & SEVERE DIZZYNESS. I KNOW I PUT THE CAR IN PARK. I HEARD THE DOOR LOCKS RELEASE. WHEN I HIT THE GAS, THE ENGINE REVVED FOR SEVERAL SECONDS BEFORE BANGING INTO REVERSE & TAKING OFF. IF THE CAR HAD ACTUALLY BEEN IN REVERSE, IT WOULD HAVE ROLLED AS SOON AS I GOT OUT. ALSO, IT WOULD'VE JUST TAKEN OFF IN REVERSE WHEN I HIT THE GAS, NOT REVVED LIKE A JET ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS IN PARK WHEN IT WAS TURNED OFF AFTER THE ACCIDENT. I'VE CONTACTED DAIMLER CHRYSLER. THEY SAID "THANKS FOR THE INFO, WE'LL BE IN TOUCH." I'M NOT HOLDING MY BREATH. I DON'T WANT TO EVER DRIVE THIS JEEP AGAIN. I DON'T WANT ANYONE TO EVER DRIVE THIS JEEP AGAIN.
