THE MIDDLE SEAT BELT IN THE BACK SEAT IS TIGHTENED TO THE POINT OF NOT BEING USABLE. THE PLASTIC LOCK THAT PREVENTS THE SEAT BELT FROM RETRACTING TOO FAR BROKE OFF WHILE USING THE 40/60 SPLIT FEATURE. UPON ONLINE RESEARCH, THIS IS A KNOWN COMMON PROBLEM WITH SEVERAL MODEL YEAR CHRYSLER VEHICLES. THIS IS ALSO THE ONLY SEAT BELT COMPLIANT FOR CHILD CAR SEATS SO TO HAVE IT NOT WORKING IS A SAFETY CONCERN.
I'VE READ SEVER COMPLAINTS AND NOTICED THAT MY JEEP IS DOING THE SAME THING. HOWEVER, MINE HAS 195000 MILES A LOT OF THE OTHERS I'VE READ ABOUT COMPLAIN ABOUT THE EXACT SAME ISSUE, I TOOK MY JEEP TO NATIONAL JEEP CHRYSLER AND DODGE LOT THEY CHECKED IT OVER AND SAID THEY DON'T THINK IT'S THE TRANNY IT CLUNKS WHEN SLOWING DOWN TO 15 MPH AND 5 MPH THEY ALSO CHANGING THE TRANNY DIDN'T HELP IT. I JUST PURCHASED THIS JEEP LAST WEEK.
TAKATA INFLATOR. I PURCHASED MY JEEP AND AFTER A FEW MONTHS I NOTICE IT KEPT GETTING STUCK IN 3RD. WOULDN'T COME OUT. THEN THE MESSAGE "TRANSMISSION OVER TEMP" WOULD POP UP. IT WOULD RANDOMLY JUST LOOSE ALL POWER AND CUT OFF AS I WOULD BE DRIVING. I HAD IT LOOKED AT. CHECKED THE CODES BC CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD POP UP ALSO. MULTIPLE CODES WERE IN THE HISTORY PERTAINING TO THE ISSUE. I WAS GOING TO GET EVERYTHING FIXED UNTIL I WAS TOLD TO CONTACT JEEP FIRST BC THERE MIGHT BE SOME RECALLS THAT OTHERS WERE EXPERIENCING MY SAME PROBLEM. I WOULD OF PAID FOR IT REGARDLESS TO FIX THE PROBLEMS. IT HAD NUMEROUS RECALLS. MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO MCKINNEY DODGE IN EASLEY,SC. AFTER FIXING THE RECALLS I HAVE PAPERWORK FOR A FEW MONTHS LATER WAS DOING IT AGAIN. I WORK IN A SERVICE DEPT. SO I ASKED ONE MY TECHS IF IT WAS SAME PROBLEM AS THE RECALLS AND DID I NEED TO CALL DEALERSHIP BACK. THEY SAID YES. CALLED MCKINNEY AND THEY REFUSED TO SET ME AN APPOINTMENT AND SAID THE PROBLEMS HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE RECALLS THEY FIXED. AFTER HAVING SEVERAL TOWS AND STRANDED AND ALMOST WRECKING WITH MY CHILDREN IN THE CAR GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND JUST DIES, I'M BEYOND FRUSTRATED AND NO ONE CAN SEEM TELL ME HOW TO FIX. AFTER READING SEVERAL REVIEWS AND RECALL INFORMATION, MY ISSUES ARE EVERYTHING WITH MY RECALLS. MY AIRBAG LIGHT GO ON AND OFF ALSO. THEY NEVER TOUCHED THAT AND IT'S ALSO A RECALL. I NEED TO KNOW WHAT I NEED TO DO BC I'M NOT WAITING FOR AN ACCIDENT OR DEATH BC THIS VEHICLE. IT'S MY ONLY CAR AND I'VE TRIED TO PAY MYSELF AND HAD RECALLS FIXED AND PROBLEM IS STILL THERE. A/C HEATER CENTER CONTROL LIGHTS DO NOT LIGHT UP. BEEN THIS WAY SINCE JEEP WAS PURCHASED. THIS HAS BEEN A SAFETY CONCERN, DRIVING AT NIGHT TRYING TO FUMBLE WITH CHANGING THE TEMPERATURE AND NOT BEING ABLE TO SEE WHAT YOUR DOING WHILE TAKING YOUR EYES OFF THE ROAD. THERE ARE ACTUALLY MANY COMPLAINTS OF THIS SAFETY CONCERN STATED ALL OVER ONLINE WITH JEEP HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE!
CAUSE OF FAILURE: INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE HAS STRESS CRACKED AND IS BROKEN. THERE ARE NO SIGNS OF ABUSE, IMPACT DAMAGE OR AFTER MARKET MODIFICATIONS. **NOTE THAT THE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE IS SERVICEABLE ONLY AS AN INTERIOR DOOR PANEL ASSEMBLY**CORRECTION: INSTALLED REPLACEMENT INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE ASSEMBLY TO CORRECT CONCERN. THIS PROBLEM STARTED WITH THE DRIVER'S SIDE INTERIOR DOOR HANDLE. THE PLASTIC CUP BEHIND THE DOOR HANDLE CRACKED AND EVENTUALLY SHATTERED LEAVING SHARDS BEHIND THAT CUT MY HAND WHEN I OPENED THE DOOR. THE REMAINING THREE DOOR HANDLES HAVE ALL DONE THE SAME THING. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. EXITING THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE IN AN EMERGENCY SITUATION WITH THE DOOR HANDLES NOT WORKING PROPERLY WOULD BE DELAYED, OR IN THE CASE OF A CHILD, IMPOSSIBLE.
ALL 4 OF MY DOOR HANDLE PANELS ARE CRACKED AND BROKEN. THE BACK DOORS R SO BAD YOU CAN'T OPEN THEM TO GET OUT. IT'S GRADUALLY HAPPENED OVERTIME. WE HAVE ONLY HAD OUR JEEP FOR 1 YEAR AND 5 MONTHS. IT GETS WORSE EVERY TIME WE USE IT OBVIOUSLY AND IT'S OUR FAMILY VEHICLE. HOPE YOU CAN HELP. THIS SHOULDN'T HAPPEN WITH A JEEP VEHICLE. VERY DISAPPOINTED. HOPE SOMETHING CAN BE FIXED. THANKS.
A RECALL WAS ISSUED NEARLY TWO YEARS AGO, FOR A FAULTY IGNITION SWITCH ON MY 2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE (SRT8). TWO YEARS LATER, THE FIAT-CHRYSLER DEALERSHIPS / SERVICE CENTERS STILL SAY THAT THEY DON'T HAVE PARTS AVAILABLE TO MAKE THE REPAIR.THEY CLAIM THE SHORTAGE IS A NATIONWIDE ISSUE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKE AND CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. AT TIMES, THE CONTACT WAS ABLE TO TURN THE IGNITION OFF AND ON AND THE VEHICLE WOULD EITHER RESTART IMMEDIATELY OR OPERATE NORMALLY AFTER A FEW MINUTES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO CH URNESS CHRYSLER, JEEP, DODGE, RAM IN DALLES, OR (541)-296-2284, WHERE A DIAGNOSTIC TEST WAS COMPLETED, BUT THERE WAS UNCERTAINTY OF THE FAILURE CODES. THE CONTACT BELIEVED AN IGNITION CODE WAS PRESENT, BUT NO REPAIRS WERE COMPLETED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 109,000.

DURING RAIN STORMS BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES ARE FLOODED WITH WATER. THIS HAS RUINED CARPET IN VEHICLE AND WILL PROBABLY RUST THE BOTTOM OF THE CAR. - VEHICLE STATIONERY IN DRIVEWAY OF HOME. THE SAFETY BELTS BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDES ARE NOT WORKING - DO NOT SECURE UNLESS YOU PUSH DOWN HARD TO ENGAGE THE BELT INTO LOCK MODE. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE WHEN I HAVE TO MANUALLY ENGAGE THE BELT HOOK INTO THE LOCK. I HAD AN ACCIDENT AND CRASHED INTO A FENCE, THE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. VEHICLE IN MOTION AT TIME. WHEN I START THE ENGINE , VEHICLE STILL IN PARK MODE, IT ACCELERATES IN HIGH MODE WITHOUT STEPPING ON GAS PEDAL. ON A CITY STREET.

EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS BROKE ON 4.7L V8 ENGINE WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE STREET.
MY HUSBAND WENT TO EXIT THE VEHICL AND THE PASSENGER DOOR HANDLE BROKE. WE ARE NOW NOT ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM THE INSIDE OR THE OUTSIDE BECAUSE OF THIS. VERY CHEAPLY MADE AND FALLING APART PRIOR TO COMPLETELY BREAKING OFF. DOOR IS NOW UNUSABLE UNTIL I PAY A FEW HUNDRED DOLLARS TO HAVE REPAIRED!! THIS COULD BE EXTREMELY DANGEROUS IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT!! IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE THE DRIVERS SIDE DOES THE SAME AS THE INTERIOR PLASTICS OF THE ACTUAL HANDLE ARE ALREADY COMPLETELY BROKEN OUT. THE PIECES LITERALLY CRACK AND FALL OUT! THE ONLY FIX AT THE DEALER IS TO REPLACE THE ENTIRE DOOR PANEL AND A FEW HUNDRED DOLLARS EACH. MY CAR IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY SO NOW THIS IS AN OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE SINCE CHRYSLER DECIDED TO USE CHEAP AND UNRELIABLE PARTS. THE DOOR HANDLE PIECE IS REPLACEABLE FROM AN AUTO PARTS STORE. THEY ARE $140.00 EACH PLUS LABOR FOR SOMEONE TO DO THE WORK. THIS NEEDS TO BE A RECALL!! IN DOING RESEARCH THERE ARE HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE THIS IS HAPPENING TO!!!

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 13V175000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, POWER TRAIN) AND 14V438000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000.

THE DEALER REPLACED THE HEAD GASKET MONTHS AGO, BUT THE CHECK ENGINE INDICATOR REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE DEALER INDICATED THAT A SENSOR MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED. IN ADDITION, VARIOUS WARNING INDICATORS AND GAUGES ILLUMINATED AND THERE WAS A STRONG HESITATION AS IF THE VEHICLE WOULD STALL. THE DEALER ASKED THE CONTACT TO BRING THE VEHICLE BACK FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND PROVIDED NO SOLUTION. THE VIN AND FAILURE MILEAGE WERE NOT AVAILABLE.
WAS DRIVING MY JEEP AT NIGHT WITH MY INFANT IN THE BACK SEAT, 55MPH. SUDDENLY ALL THE LIGHTS IN THE DASHBOARD AND PARKING ASSISTANCE LIGHTS IN THE BACK ALL LITE UP. AT THE SAME TIME THE HEATER STOPPED WORKING AND MY HEADLIGHTS WENT OUT AS WELL. THEY CAME BACK ON ABOUT 5 SECONDS LATER. I CONTINUED TO DRIVE WHEN IT DID IT AGAIN. I SWITCHED THE LIGHTS OUT OF AUTO. THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURRED AGAIN BUT THIS TIME THE HEAD LAMPS DID NOT GO OUT, ALL THE WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASH STILL FLASHED AND HEAT WENT OFF. IT RESUMED THE WHOLE WAY HOME BUT NEVER FULLY LOST POWER. IT STILL DOES THIS ON A DAILY BASIS, MULTIPLE TIMES. I FEEL AS IF IT'S GETTING WORSE BUT NO ONE CAN DIAGNOSE AND FIGURE OUT WHAT'S WRONG WITH IT. CONSIDERING THE AIRBAG WARNING AND OTHERS(ALL OF THEM) LIGHT UP, I'M CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY AND MY SONS. TODAY AS I WAS DRIVING IT SEEMED WORSE. EVEN TURN SIGNAL LIGHTS ARE EFFECTED WHEN THIS HAPPENS. TODAY MY SPEEDOMETER, GAS GAGE... EVERYTHING ON MY DASHBOARD LITE UP AND MY METERS QUIT WORKING. IT ALL RESUMED AS NORMAL AFTER IT HAPPENED BUT IT HAPPENED APPROXIMATELY 15 TIMES DURING A 10 MINUTE DRIVE. SOMETIMES BACK TO BACK TO BACK. IT ALSO HAPPENED WHILE SITTING AT A STOP LIGHT WHEN I NOTICED MY TURN SIGNALS ALSO WENT OUT AT THAT TIME, WHILE STATIONARY AND WHILE TURNING. HAPPENS NO MATTER IF STATIONARY OR IN MOTION.

BOTH FRONT SEAT BELTS WILL NOT LOCK UNLESS YOU PUSH THE BUTTON TO LOCK IT IN. THE PASSENGER SEAT BELT LOCK IN INDICATES IT IS NOT LOCK AND THE BELL DINGS UNTIL USE REACH A CERTAIN SPEED. THE LIGHT INDICATOR ALSO IS ON. NO RECALL HAS BEEN ISSUED AND YOU CANT UNPLUG IT BECAUSE IT TURNS THE PASSENGER AIR BAG OFF.

I TOOK MY 2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE ( 63000 MILES ) TO THE DEALERS FOR THE N23 RECALL TO REPROGRAM THE FINAL DRIVE CONTROLLER,SO THE CAR WOULDN'T SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL BY ITSELF AND ROLL AWAY. A FEW DAYS LATER THE CODE; SERVICE 4WD SYSTEM APPEARED ON THE DASH. WHEN I RETURNED TO THE DEALER FOR A DIFFERENT RECALL, I TOLD THEM OF THE PROBLEM AND ASKED THEM TO CHECK IF THE REFLASH HAD CAUSED THIS ERROR CODE. JUST LIKE I HAVE READ ON JEEP FORUM AND ONLINE NEWS ARTICLES, THE DEALER CLAIMED THAT THIS IS THE FIRST TIME THEY HAVE SEEN THIS PROBLEM AND IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE N23 RECALL. THEY WANTED $350.00 TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM,PLUS LABOR AND PARTS TO REPAIR THE CAR. THIS IS REGARDING THE P-41 RECALL NOTICE FOR THE 2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. I TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FEB. 2016 TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE RECALL FIXED AND I FIND THAT THE RECALL WORK HAS NOT BEEN SHOWN AS COMPLETE ON THE SAFECAR.GOV WEBSITE ONCE I ENTERED THE VIN NUMBER AFTER BEING TOLD THE WORK WAS COMPLETED BY THE DEALER. IT STATES ON THE SAVECAR.GOV WEBSITE THAT PARTS TO FIX THE P-41 RECALL ARE NOT AVAILABLE AND SEEMS TO HAVE NOT BEEN AVAILABLE FOR QUITE SOME TIME. I AM WONDERING HOW DO I KNOW THAT THE DEALER REALLY DEALT WITH THE PROBLEM? THEY DID SOMETHING BECAUSE MY IGNITION IS NOT WORKING THE SAME AS IT WAS PRIOR TO MY TAKING IT INTO THE DEALER. IT IS A HARD TURN OF THE KEY, TO TURN ON AND OFF THE ENGINE. IT IS VERY ANNOYING AND I OFTEN WONDER IF I WILL HAVE TROUBLE GETTING THE KEY OUT OF THE IGNITION ONCE THE VEHICLE IS OFF BECAUSE THE KEY ACTS AS IF STUCK. THE DEALER TELLS ME THIS WILL OPERATE SMOOTHER IN TIME. DESPITE THIS, I STILL WONDER IF THE RECALL WAS ACTUALLY FIXED ACCORDING TO MANUFACTURER SPECIFICATIONS, ESPECIALLY SINCE THE WORK HAS NOT BEEN SHOWN AS COMPLETE ON THE WEBSITE AND THE PART HAS NOT BEEN AVAILABLE. I ESPECIALLY FEEL TAKEN ADVANTAGE OF BECAUSE THIS WAS MY HUSBAND'S VEHICLE AND HE DIED IN JUNE 2015. 2006 JEEP HAS 2 CURRENT RECALLS. I HAVE CALLED 3 DIFFERENT DEALERSHIPS IN MY AREA AND SO FAR NONE IS WILLING TO REPAIR THE RECALLS WITH IN A 2 WEEK PERIOD. ONE DEALERSHIP HAS FAILED TO RETURN MY PHONE CALL TWICE THE OTHER TWO PUT REPAIRS OUT FOR THREE WEEKS. I HAVE NOTIFIED THE MANUFACTURE WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT.

OEM TIRES ON MY VEHICLE HAVE A DEFECT ON THE TOP INNER SIDE OF THE TIRES BOTH FRONT TIRES SEEM TO HAVE A DEFECT ON THE TOP OF THE TIRE WITH THE TOP INNER TIRE STARTING TO COLLAPSE WITH A CONCAVE GROOVE. THIS THEN WILL CAUSE THE TIRE TO SEPERATE FROM THE INNER WALL OF THE TIRE. THIS ISSUE HAS BEEN GOING ON SINCE 2006 I AM THE ORIGINAL OWNER OF THE VEHICLE. AND I AM TIRED OF PAYING $400 FOR EACH TIRE AND THEY DO NOT EVEN LAST ME OVER A YEAR. I HAVE CALLED GOODYEAR WITH NO HELP AND THE DEALER IS NO HELP. PLEASE RECALL THESE TIRES THIS TIRE IS THE OEM TIRE AND GOODYEAR IS THE ONLY ONE WHO MAKES THESE RUN FLATS IN THIS SIZE. THE FRONT TIRE SIZE IS 255/45ZR20 THE CAR HAS NO SPARE TIRE AND THIS IS THE ONLY TIRE RECOMMEND FOR THE JEEP THAT I HAVE.
