THIS HAS BEEN A SAFETY CONCERN, DRIVING AT NIGHT TRYING TO FUMBLE WITH CHANGING THE TEMPERATURE AND NOT BEING ABLE TO SEE WHAT YOUR DOING WHILE TAKING YOUR EYES OFF THE ROAD. THERE ARE ACTUALLY MANY COMPLAINTS OF THIS SAFETY CONCERN STATED ALL OVER ONLINE WITH JEEP HAVING THE EXACT SAME ISSUE!
THE HEADLIGHTS, DASHBOARD LIGHT, AND INTERIOR LIGHTS ALL FLICKER SPONTANEOUSLY. THE HEADLIGHTS HAVE WENT COMPLETELY OUT AT NIGHT WHILE DRIVING. SOMETIMES THE HEADLIGHTS DO NOT COME ON AT ALL OR TAKES SEVERAL ATTEMPTS BEFORE COMING ON. AT TIMES THE HEADLIGHTS AND INTERIOR LIGHTS WILL FLICKER ON AND OFF FOR SEVERAL SECONDS BEFORE CUTTING OFF. WHEN RAINING AND USING THE WINDSHIELD WIPERS AND HEADLIGHTS THE LIGHTS WILL FLICKER ON AND OFF. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR OVER A YEAR AND I AM UNABLE TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE AT NIGHT FOR FEAR OF THE LIGHTS GOING OUT.

ALL WARNING LIGHTS ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL FLICKERED AS WELL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE TECHNICIAN DIAGNOSED THAT THE TURN SIGNAL SWITCH NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V438000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.

DRIVING ALONG AT NIGHT, WHEN SUDDENLY MY HEAD LIGHTS BLINK OFF AND ON SEVERAL TIMES THEN SHUT OFF. HAVE TO THEN TURN ON AND OFF SWITCH SEVERAL TIMES TO GET THEM BACK . THEN FEW MINUTES LATER THEY DO IT AGAIN, ALONG WITH THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. NO ONE SEEMS TO BE ABLE TO FIGURE IT OUT. I THINK ITS THE COMPUTOR ON BOARD THATS DEFECTED, AND JEEP DOESNT WANT TO REPLACE ALL OF THEM! I THINK THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED A.S.A.P.. IT IS SO UNSAFE, AND APPEARS THAT THERE ARE MANY OTHERS OUT THERE WITH SAME PROBLEM.
WE OWN A 2006 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHEN WE START THE VEHICLE, FOR ABOUT THE FIRST 20 MINUTES OF DRIVING, THE VEHICLE WILL SHUT OFF MULTIPLE TIMES WHEN DRIVING SLOW OR COMING TO A STOP. MY WIFE WAS COMING HOME FROM WORK AND SHE WAS LEAVING THE PARKING GARAGE SHE PARKED AT FOR WORK. WHEN SHE WAS DRIVING UP THE RAMP TO EXIT THE GARAGE, THE JEEP SHUT OFF ON HER AND IT ROLLED BACKWARDS DOWN THE RAMP INTO A BUILDING SUPPORT PILLAR. THIS CAUSED DAMAGE TO THE BACK BUMPER AND TAILLIGHT. WE WERE LUCKY NOBODY WAS HURT OR BEHIND HER WHEN THIS HAPPENED. WHEN I DRIVE THE JEEP IT SEEMS LIKE IT HAPPENS MORE OFTEN. WHEN I LEAVE FOR WORK IN THE MORNING AND ARRIVE AT THE FIRST STOP LIGHT, THE JEEP WILL SHUT OFF. SOMETIMES IT TURNS GREEN AT THE SAME TIME SO I HAVE TO SHIFT BACK TO NEUTRAL TO START UP, MAKING SOME PEOPLE MISS THE GREEN. WHEN I LEAVE WORK TO HEAD HOME, EVERY TIME I PULL UP TO THE GATE TO LEAVE, IT SHUTS OFF. IT JUMPS FORWARD WHEN IT SHUTS OFF, SOMETIMES I FEEL LIKE I WILL HIT THE GATE (HAVE TO GET CLOSE TO GATE IN ORDER FOR SCANNER TO READ GARAGE ACCESS PASS). PLEASE MAKE A SOLUTION FOR THIS RECALL AS IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AND WE GOT LUCKY WITH JUST A MINOR ACCIDENT SO FAR. *TR
WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH AT NIGHT, THE HEADLAMPS AND INTERIOR LIGHT BEGAN FLASHING. THEN COMPLETELY SHUT OFF. THIS HAPPENED 4 TIMES IN LESS THAN 25 MILE. I HAD BEEN DRIVING FOR 3 HOURS THAT NIGHT. WAS DRIVING AT 65MPH AND ALL OF THE SUDDEN THE DASH LIGHTS UP LIKE A CHRISTMAS TREE. THE FAN FOR THE A/C TURNED OFF. THIS KEPT HAPPENING FOR 10 MILES AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT STAYED ON AFTER THIS HAPPENED. I HAD A FRIEND SCAN THE COMPUTER WITHOUT TURNING THE VEHICLE OFF. FOUND CODE B2100. THIS CODE IS FOR THE IGNITION SWITCH MALFUNCTIONING. I DID AN INTERNET CHECK AND A LOT OF PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM. SOME CHANGED THE IGNITION SWITCH AND PROBLEM SOLVED AND OTHERS HAVE NOT CHANGED IT. THIS SURE SOUNDS LIKE A SAFETY ISSUE TO ME. I HAVE READ WHERE THE ENGINE EVEN SHUTS OFF. *TR
INTERIOR DASHBOARD LIGHTS HAVE BEEN FLASHING OFF AND ON AT LEAST SINCE 10/2012. ON A DAILY BASIS THE DASHBOARD LIGHTS HAVE CONTINUED TO FLASH ON AND OFF AGAIN CONSTANTLY. AS OF YESTERDAY (10/28/2014) BOTH THE EXTERIOR HEADLAMPS AND DASHBOARD LIGHTS FLASHED OFF AND ON AGAIN IN THE LATE EVENING LEAVING THE ENTIRE VEHICLE COMPLETELY DARK AS I ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER AND THE DEALER STATED THAT THE SPARK PLUGS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 81,075.

I HAVE RESEARCHED THIS PROBLEM ONLINE, AND HAVE FOUND THAT MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THIS YEAR AND MODEL. MANY OF THESE PEOPLE HAVE CONTACTED JEEP, WHICH BASICALLY IGNORED THEIR COMPLAINTS. SOMETHING SHOULD BE DONE ABOUT THIS AS IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE, AND THE DEALERSHIPS AND COMPANY ARE REFUSING TO DEAL WITH IT CORRECTLY. *TR

WHILE DRIVING AT NIGHT, HEADLIGHTS ON VEHICLE WENT OFF. BY FLASHING THE LIGHT SWITCH TO WHAT WOULD NORMALLY TURN ON THE BRIGHTS, THE LIGHTS WOULD COME BACK ON, REGULAR STRENGTH (NOT THE BRIGHTS). THIS HAPPENS REPEATEDLY EVERY TIME THE CAR IS DRIVEN AT NIGHT, SEVERAL TIMES DURING THE NIGHT. *TR
ALL EXTERIOR HEADLIGHTS (HIGH / LOW BEAMS AND PARKING LIGHTS) AND INTERIOR DASH LIGHTS TURN-OFF UNEXPECTEDLY AND WITHOUT WARNING WHICH IS CAUSING AN EXTREME SAFETY HAZARD. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE SHOP NUMEROUS TIMES BUT THE PROBLEM DOES NOT DUPLICATE WHILE AT THE SHOP AS IT MAY HAPPEN 3 DAYS IN A ROW THEN, DISAPPEAR FOR A WEEK OR TWO. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN OCCURRING SINCE JANUARY OF 2010 AND STILL CONTINUES TO THIS DAY (NOVEMBER 2010) WITHOUT ANY RESOLVE. THE LIGHTS WILL TURN-OFF IN THE MORNING OR NIGHT AS THERE IS NO PATTERN. I TALKED TO JEEP DIRECTLY BUT, THEY STATE THEY DON'T HAVE ANY RECORDS OF THIS PROBLEM OR WILL NOT HELP WITH THE PROBLEM UNTIL ONE OF THEIR JEEP DEALERSHIPS CONTACTS THEM WITH A DIAGNOSIS PROBLEM, WHICH SEEMS VERY ODD THAT THEY ARE NOT OVERLY CONCERNED WITH THEIR PRODUCT.
WHEN DRIVING THERE ARE MULTIPLE TIMES THE INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL LIGHTS WILL FLASH OR GO OFF ENTIRELY FOR TIME. SOMETIMES TURNING OFF AND ON WILL CORRECT THE ISSUE HOWEVER THEY WILL CONTINUE TO FLASH. WHEN THEY GO ENTIRELY OFF THIS COULD POST A SAFETY HAZARD AS THERE ARE NO EXTERNAL LIGHTS ON THE VEHICLE. NO ONE HAS BEEN ABLE TO DETERMINE THE EXACT CAUSE OF THE ISSUE. *TR
HEADLIGHTS AND DASH LIGHTS ARE TURNING OFF WHEN WE TAKE A RIGHT TURN AND USE THE BLINKER. THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN ON EVERY RIGHT TURN ONLY OCCASIONALLY. WE HAVE TURNED THE VEHICLE INTO JEEP 5 TIMES TO BE FIXED AND THE ISSUE CONTINUES TO HAPPEN. JEEP HAS BEEN UNABLE TO MAKE CAR DO THIS WHEN THEY HAVE THE VEHICLE IN FOR REPAIRS BUT HAVE REPLACED SEVERAL PARTS ON THE VEHICLE. EACH TIME THEY RETURN THE VEHICLE TO US, WITHIN TWO WEEKS THE PROBLEM STARTS AGAIN. EACH TIME, THE HEADLIGHTS GO OUT LONGER AND LONGER AND ARE HARDER TO GET TO TURN ON. *TR
