THE 5.7 LITER HEMI MOTOR IN ALL CHRYSLER VEHICLES HAVE THIS SIMILAR ISSUE. THE DRIVER SIDE EXHAUST MANIFOLD BOLTS BREAK AND AN EXHAUST LEAK SPUTTERS OUT OF THE DRIVER SIDE ENGINE COMPARTMENT. I SPOKE TO SEVERAL MECHANICS AND CHRYSLER SERVICE TECHNICIANS AND THEY ALL CONFIRM IT IS A COMMON REPAIR. I HAVE ALSO SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ONLINE. THE COST TO REPLACE THE MANIFOLD AND DRILL OUT THE BROKEN BOLTS IS AROUND $700.00. ALTHOUGH THIS IS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE I STILL BELIEVE IT SHOULD BE RECALLED INSTEAD OF THE MANUFACTURER PASSING THE BILL TO THE CONSUMER. ON OR ABOUT 19 NOV 2014, I RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM CHRYSLER ON THE "IGNITION SWITCH" FOR MY 2008 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND EDITION. THAT NOTICE NUMBER IS P57/NHTSA 14V-567. I HAVE CALLED THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES TO ASK ABOUT AVAILABILITY OF PARTS TO HAVE MY JEEP REPAIRED....ALL TO NO AVAIL. THE DEALER SAYS THEY HAVEN'T RECEIVED THE PARTS FROM CHRYSLER. TODAY IN THE MAIL I RECEIVED ANOTHER RECALL NOTICE, THIS TIME FOR THE "FINAL DRIVE CONTROL MODULE", RECALL NOTICE P73. AFTER ANOTHER UNSUCCESSFUL CALL TO THE DEALER, I DECIDED TO CALL THE FCA (FIAT CHRYSLER AUTOMOBILES) US CUSTOMER ASSISTANCE CENTER AT 1-800-853-1403 AND SEE WHAT CHRYSLER'S STORY WAS. AT FCA, I SPOKE WITH A VERY NICE AND LIKELY VERY YOUNG WOMAN NAMED STEPHANIE WHO INFORMED ME THAT CHRYSLER DOES NOT HAVE A SUBCONTRACTOR TO MAKE THE PART NEEDED TO MAKE THE REPAIR. SHE INFORMED ME THAT I WOULD BE PLACED ON THE "LIST" OF THOSE TO BE NOTIFIED BY EMAIL WHEN A PART BECAME AVAILABLE. THAT IS AN UNACCEPTABLE ANSWER AND I TOLD HER I WOULD BE CONTACTING THE NHTSA WITH MY COMPLAINT. NOW ON YOUR SITE, I SEE THAT YOU ARE ABOUT TO HOLD HEARINGS ON RECALL REPAIR DELAYS BY CHRYSLER AND CLEARLY MY STORY FALLS WELL WITHIN THOSE PARAMETERS. IMPORTANT SAFETY RECALL LETTER RECEIVED BACK NOVEMBER 2014. CHRYSLER ADMITS TO A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH IGNITION SWITCH WITH THE FOBIK AND THEY ADMIT IN THEIR RECALL LETTER THAT AS RESULT OF THE PARTICULAR FOBIK FAILURE COULD "INCREASE THE RISK OF CRASH UNDER CERTAIN DRIVING CONDITIONS." ALSO, THE LETTER STATES "FOBIK" SPRING BACK MAY ALSO CAUSE THE DISABLING OF ONE OR MORE OF THE VEHICLE'S SAFETY FEATURES INCLUDING THE FRONTAL AIRBAGS. THIS COULD INCREASE THE RISK OF VEHICLE OCCUPANT INJURY DURING A CRASH." MY COMPLAINT IS THERE IS STILL NO PART AVAILABLE FOR THIS PROBLEM AND IT HAS BEEN OVER 6 MONTHS. AS I WAS ABOUT TO EXIT THE FREEWAY ONTO EXIT RAMP I HEARD A CLICK AND THE VEHICLE JUST TURNED OFF. THIS IS NOT THE FIRST TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED. FOUR TIMES PRIOR BUT AT MUCH LOWER SPEEDS....PARKING LOT SPEEDS. I ALSO SEEM TO BE HAVING A PROBLEM AT TIMES WHEN I START THE VEHICLE. IT JUST TURNS OFF.
