VEHICLE STALLED TWICE WHILE DRIVING. ONCE WHILE TURNING LEFT ON A CITY STREET AND ONCE WHILE BREAKING HARD TO STOP AT A STOP LIGHT. DEALERSHIP CANNOT FIND A CAUSE AND CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM WHILE IN THEIR POSSESSION. JEEP CUSTOMER SERVICE SAYS IT IS A KNOWN ISSUE WITH NO KNOWN CAUSE. ALL RECALLS ARE UP TO DATE.
LEATHER DASH COMING UP AND FORCING PLASTIC HEATER COVERS TO COME INTO SIGHT OF VIEW WHILE DRIVING, ALL CARBON FIBER TRIM AROUND DASH AND ALL DOORS IS NOT STICKING AND HAS CUT, POKED AND INJURED OTHER AND MYSELF. SOME OF THE TRIM IS VARY POINTY AND REALLY SHARP AND IF DOES NOT STAY DOWN MAKES A RISK OF IMPALING SOMEONE, POKING OUT AN EYE OR WORSE. WAS TOLD A RECALL WAS ON IT AND ALREADY PERFORMED, BUT CLEARLY WAS NOT FIXED EVEN AFTER RECALL. DEALERSHIP WANTS TO CHARGE ALOT OF MONEY TO REPAIR SINCE THEY SAY IT WAS ALREADY IN FOR THE SAME RECALL.

THE VEHICLE WAS SHIFTED INTO PARK AND RESTARTED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND THE FUEL PUMP RELAY WAS REPLACED; HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED SEVERAL TIMES. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 15V115000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM) AND 15V879000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM, INTERIOR LIGHTING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 88,000.

A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR, COMPUTER, AND FUSES FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V634000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ADVISED ABOUT FAILURE AND OPENED CASE 31872923 BUT DID NOT OFFER ANY FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 121,000. DRIVING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS, 55 TO 70 MPH THE STEERING WHEEL WILL VIOLENTLY SHAKE BACK AND FORTH AND THE CAR WILL JERK FROM LEFT TO RIGHT. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS INFORMED THE POWER STEERING RACK AND PINION WOULD NEED COMPLETE REPLACEMENT. THE ESTIMATE WITH A NEW 4 WHEEL ALIGNMENT IS OVER 1900 DOLLARS. THIS JEEP IS DRIVEN BY MY WIFE, HAS NEVER BEEN OFF ROAD AND HAS ONLY 33,000 MILES ON IT. A SERVICE TECHNICIAN TOLD ME THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND THEY SEE MANY JEEPS WHERE THE RACK NEEDS REPLACEMENT. I CALLED TWO OTHER DEALERSHIPS AND WAS TOLD THIS IS A PROBLEM AREA ON 2012 GRAND CHEROKEES. I WAS ALSO TOLD THEY REDESIGNED THE RACK A COUPLE OF YEARS AGO BECAUSE OF THIS PROBLEM. THIS REPAIR SHOULD BE COVERED AND RECALLED AS A DANGEROUS MANUFACTURING DEFECT.
HELLO ! I WAS DRIVING MY JGC IN THE STREETS OF SANTO DOMINGO ,DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. I WAS ALREADY IN A TUNEL, 1 KM LONG, IN TERRIFIC TRAFIC AT 5 PM WHEN THE CAR SUDDENLY ALMOST STOPPED.THE A/C STOPPED ,MIL APPEARED AND ALMOST GOT IMPACT BEHIND! I PUSH THE PEDAL STRONG AND EXELERATED.THANKS GOD I LIVE VERY CLOSED.IN THE MOMENT I STOPED IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE THE EVIC START BLINKING AND IN SECONDS EVERYTHING STOPPED ! BLACK OUT ! WHILE DRIVING TO WORK ONE DAY, I NOTICED A HUMMING NOISE COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE, SHORTLY BEFORE ARRIVING AT WORK THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON SO I DROPPED OFF THE CAR AT A LOCAL MECHANIC TO HAVE IT LOOKED AT. THEY CALLED ME BACK TO SAY THE ALTERNATOR HAD WENT OUT AND WOULD NEED REPLACED. AFTER REPLACING THE ALTERNATOR, MY JEEP WASN'T STARTING, SO THEY HAD TO REPLACE THE BATTERY AND EXPLAINED THE ALTERNATOR HAD FRIED AND TOOK THE BATTERY OUT WITH IT. ONCE THE BATTERY WAS REPLACED, THE JEEP STILL WOULDN'T START AND COULDN'T LOCATE THE KEYS (ALTHOUGH IT WAS PHYSICALLY IN THE IGNITION), THEY SAID MY JEEP WOULD NEED TO BE TOWED TO A JEEP DEALERSHIP TO GET THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE REPLACED BECAUSE THEY COULDN'T PROGRAM THE REPLACEMENT MODULE. AFTER GETTING IT TOWED AND HAVING THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE REPLACED IT IS RUNNING FINE AGAIN. IN SUMMARY, THE ALTERNATOR WENT OUT AND SHORTED BOTH THE BATTERY AND THE POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE IN THE PROCESS. IN TOTAL NEARLY $1600 WORTH OF PARTS AND LABOR. A RECALL EXISTS FOR SEVERAL OTHER JEEP MODELS DUE TO THIS SAME ISSUE, HOWEVER MY VEHICLE'S VIN ISN'T LISTED IN THE RECALL.
USALLY WHEN I DRIVE THE CAR SLOW THE SPEED THE CARS TURN OFF THE DEALER SAYS THE CAR WAS REPAIRED BUT I HAVE OVER 6 VIDEOS WHEN MY CAR TURN OFF IN THE HIGHWAY THE DANGER IS YOU CAN'T USE THE STEERING BECAUSE IS TO HEAVILY TO DRIVE.
THE LEATHER DASH SHOWS BUBBLES AND WAVES FROM THE LEATHER DELAMINATING. IT HAS COMPLETELY PULLED AWAY FROM THE WINDOW. CONCERNS ME THAT IT IS OVER THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG- WILL THIS AFFECT DEPLOYMENT?
I TOOK MY CAR FOR THREE RECALLS ONE OF THEM WAS THE BRAKE BOOSTER. THEY CALLED ME THE OTHER DAY TO PICK IT UP. I WENT AND THEY TOLD ME EVERYTHING IS FIXED. THE PROBLEM WASN'T FIXED. I ALMOST CRASHED 4 TIMES AND I HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK. I CALLED THE DEALER AND THEY SAID IF I WANT THEM TO LOOK AT THE CAR AND FIND THE PROBLEM THEY WOULD CHARGE ME. I TOLD HIM IT'S THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND SHOWED HIM A VIDEO TO PROVE IT. HE DECLINED TO HELP ME...UPDATED 06/06/17 *BF *AS
VEHICLE IS AN OVERLAND MODEL WITH 5.7 ENGINE. AS OF 2-7-17 THE VEHICLE HAS STALLED ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS. ALL THREE INCIDENTS HAVE BEEN WHILE MAKING LOW SPEED TURNS. THE ENGINE JUST QUITS WITHOUT SPUTTERING OR ANY TYPE OF WARNING. ALL DASH LIGHTS REMAIN ON AS IF THE VEHICLE WERE RUNNING. POWER STEERING GOES OUT AND LOSS OF POWER BRAKES MAKES IT DANGEROUS IN COMPLETING TURNS AND THEN HAVE TO COAST TO A SAFE PLACE. PLACE CAR IN PARK AND CAR STARTS RIGHT UP LIKE NOTHING HAPPENED. THE CAR HAS 57,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS NO PREVIOUS ISSUES. I HAVE NOT TAKEN TO DEALER (YET) AS IT IS NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY. I HAVE SEEN OTHER ONLINE POSTS FROM JEEP OWNERS WITH SIMILAR COMPLAINTS AND AM WONDERING IF THIS IS A SAFETY RECALL ISSUE.

THE FIRE EXTINGUISHED ITSELF. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 17V435000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM), 14V634000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM), AND 15V115000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). IN ADDITION, THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: (VISIBILITY). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 87,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
RACK AND PINION IS LEAKING POWER STEERING FLUID. A CRACK IN THE SEAL HAS DEVELOPED IN THE RACK ON THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE. THE VEHICLE HAS NEVER HAD ANY OTHER ISSUES LIKE THIS BEFORE. ALSO THE COMPUTER HAS NOT INDICATED LOW POWER STEERING FLUID BUT THE MECHANIC TOLD ME IT WAS LOW. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DRIVEN RECKLESSLY OR OFF ROAD THAT WOULD CAUSE A CRACK LIKE THIS. THERE IS NO SIMPLE FIX FOR THIS OTHER THAN A $1300+ REPAIR FOR AN ISSUE THAT IS A DEFECT. I HAVE HAD 2 MECHANICS AND THE DEALERSHIP LOOK AT THE ISSUE AND GIVE ME QUOTES. I DISCOVERED THIS IN JANUARY.
2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND BECAME POSSESSED. WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, LIGHTS BEGAN FLASHING ON DASH, OCCASIONAL LURCHES FROM TRANSMISSION, ONE HEADLIGHT GOES OUT AT NIGHT. WHEN I PULL OVER AND TURN THE CAR OFF, IT WILL NOT START. IT WAS AS THOUGH EVERYTHING IS DEAD. NO RESPONSE FROM ANY BUTTON ON THE KEY. AFTER ABOUT 5 MINUTES, THE HEADLIGHTS BEGAN FLASHING AND HORN BLEATING AS THOUGH EMERGENCY. I PRESSED THE "PANIC" BUTTON ON THE KEY FOB AND IT STOPPED. CAR NOW STARTED. I DROVE A FEW MILES THEN EVERYTHING BEGAN GOING CRAZY AGAIN. WHEN I STOPPED, WITH CAR STILL RUNNING, WINDSHIELD WIPERS BEGAN WORKING AS THOUGH ON INTERMITTENT. THEN THEY BEGAN WIPING FAST. I TRIED TURNING THE WIPERS ON OR OFF, TO NO AVAIL. THEY WERE WORKING WITH THEIR OWN MIND. DANGEROUS! I HAD NO IDEA, WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY, IF BOTH HEADLIGHTS WOULD SUDDENLY GO OUT (IT WAS NIGHT WHILE I WAS DRIVING) INSTEAD OF JUST ONE, TRANSMISSION DAMAGE MAY OCCUR (WHAT WAS CAUSING THE LURCHING?). THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ALTERNATOR DAMAGED THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS CONFIRMED THAT THE ALTERNATOR WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ALTERNATOR WAS 180 AMPS. THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V634000 (ELECTRICAL SYSTEM). THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 57,000.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 117,000.

WAS IN MOTION ON A SNOWY DAY PRESSED ON THE BRAKES AND THEY BECAME HARD TO PRESS TO BRAKE I NOTICED IT HAD A RECALL A COUPLE YEARS AGO ON THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND I TOOK IT IN THEY TOLD ME IT WAS A BAD BRAKE BOOSTER. WANT TO KNOW IF THAT IS SOMETHING I CAN GET IT CHECKED AGAIN BECAUSE IT WAS SUPPOSE TO BE FIXED.

THE JEEP WILL SOMETIMES REQUIRE MORE BRAKING DISTANCE THAN ANTICIPATED. USUALLY WHEN COLD, THE BRAKE PEDDLE WILL FEEL HARD, AND IF AN EVENT REQUIRES URGENT BRAKING, CONTINUOUS FIRM PRESSURE MIGHT NOT RESULT IN NORMAL STOPPING DISTANCES. THE AIR SUSPENSION IN THIS JEEP DOESN'T WORK BELOW 22F PER JEEP THERE IS A TSB FOR THIS ISSUE BUT THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL SINCE -20F IS COMMON WHERE WE LIVE. LAST WINTER THE PUMP WOULDN'T INFLATE THE FRONT SUSPENSION CAUSING THE BACK TO BE UP IN THE AIR AND THE FRONT SO LOW THAT I COULDN'T SEE. THE ONLY WAY FOR IT TO START WORKING AGAIN IS TO WAIT FOR THE AIR TO WARM UP OR BRING IT TO A GARAGE. DURING THIS CONDITION YOU CAN HARDLY SEE ANYTHING ON THE ROAD. IN THE 18 MONTHS I HAVE OWNED THE VEHICLE IT HAS RANDOMLY TURNED OFF 5-6 TIMES ON THE HIGHWAY OR ON A STREET. I'M STILL WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM THE DEALER . I TOLD THEM TO START A TECH TICKET WITH HEAD OFFICE SO THE UNNECESSARY COSTS DON'T ESCALATE ANY FURTHER .
I WAS DRIVING DOWN A BUSY ROAD IN OUR TOWN TODAY. THE BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON. APPROXIMATELY 10 MINUTES LATER WHILE STILL DRIVING, THE LIGHTS ON DASH STARTED FLASHING ON AND OFF, SEATBELT ALARM STARTED GOING OFF, WINDSHIELD WIPERS STARTED WORKING WITHOUT TURNING ON. THE RADIO TURNED OFF. I LOST POWER STEERING. THE VEHICLE SHUT OFF WHILE STILL DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD. I HAD NO POWER BREAKS--SEEMED TO ALMOST STOP WORKING. I WAS FORTUNATE TO GET ON SIDE OF ROAD IN GRASS TO KEEP FROM GETTING HIT BY ANOTHER CAR. IF THERE HAD NOT BEEN A GRASSY AREA THERE WOULD HAVE BEEN AN ACCIDENT. THE VEHICLE THEN WAS COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN--DOOR LOCKS WOULD NOT WORK- TRIED TO PUT KEY FOB IN IGNITION AND COULD NOT GET IT BACK OUT--WAS UNABLE TO GET BACK GATE OPENED. I HAD TO HAVE CAR TOWED TO DEALERSHIP WHERE I WAS TOLD IT WAS THE ALTERNATOR WHICH IN TURNED DESTROYED THE GEL TYPE BATTERY. I WAS ALSO INFORMED THIS WAS NOT COVERED UNDER THE ALTERNATOR RECALL DUE TO NOT MATCHING MY VIN NUMBER. I WAS FIRST QUOTED $2,000 TO COVER THE DAMAGE. 3.6L ENGINE. VEHICLE KEEPS OVERHEATING. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALERSHIP NEW THERMOSTAT NEW BELTS THEY HAVE FLUSHED THE COOLING SYSTEM. THE ENGINE WILL RUN FOR APPROXIMATELY FIVE MINUTES THEN IT WILL START GETTING REALLY HOT UP TO 300 ALSO THE HEATING SYSTEM WILL NOT WORK WHEN THIS HAPPENS IT BLOWS ONLY COLD AIR.

MY POWER DOOR LOCKS STOPPED WORKING. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE IT REPAIRED AND THE DAY I WAS GOING TO DRIVE MY JGC TO THE DEALER, ALL HELL BROKE LOOSE. PARK ASSIST STOPPED WORKING, ANTI SKID AND 4 WHEEL DRIVE ALSO INDICATED ERRORS. BUT WORSE, I COULD NOT MOVE THE SHIFTING ARM OUT OF PARK. I HAD TO HAVE IT DRAGGED OUT OF MY GARAGE BY A LOCAL TOWING SERVICE. THE DEALER SAID IT WAS A FAULTY TIPM AND HAD TO BE REPLACED. ONCE IT IS REPLACED, THEY CAN CHECK ON THE POWER DOOR LOCK ISSUE. I'VE READ THE THIS IS A PRETTY COMMON PROBLEM FOR THE 2012 JGC. IN FACT, IT MUST BE BECAUSE THE DEALER SAID THAT HE PROBABLY WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO GET A REPLACEMENT PART FOR AT LEAST A MONTH. DECEMBER 16, 2016 I WAS EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS STARTING VEHICLE AND PROBLEMS WITH VEHICLE SPUTTERING WHILE DRIVING AND WHILE STOPPED. TOOK CAR BACK TO ARRIGO TO DIAGNOSE PROBLEM. WAS TOLD PROBLEM WAS FUEL PUMP RELAY AT COST OF APPROXIMATELY $650. EXPRESSED MY CONCERNS THAT ALTHOUGH RECALLS WERE RECORDED AS "PERFORMED" IN THEIR SYSTEM, CAR WAS NOT PROPERLY REPAIRED. SERVICE ADVISOR TOLD ME THERE WAS NOTHING ELSE WRONG WITH MY VEHICLE AND THE RECALL ACTUALLY TOOK PLACE JUNE 2015. THAT IS INCORRECT AS I CALLED FCA AND THEY IN FACT VERIFIED THAT IN THEIR SYSTEM, RECALL WAS ENTERED AS "COMPLETED" IN SEPTEMBER 2016 AT SAME DEALER, ARRIGO. CALLED ARRIGO AND SERVICE ADVISOR SAID HE RE-CHECKED THE VEHICLE AND THE FUEL PUMP RELAY WAS ACTUALLY IN GOOD SHAPE, IT WAS SERVICED IN SEPTEMBER 2016. HE SAID THE REASON THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON WAS BECAUSE THE SOFTWARE NEEDED UPDATED AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD BE OKAY AND THE VEHICLE WAS PERFORMING "AS IT IS DESIGNED TO WORK" HAVING NO OTHER PROBLEMS. I HESITANTLY PAID $75 TO HAVE THE "SOFTWARE UPDATED" TO AVOID THE $150 DIAGNOSTIC FEE IF THERE IS NO SERVICE. ONE HOUR AFTER I PAID AND LEFT THE DEALER THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN ACTING EXACTLY LIKE IT HAD BEFORE "SERVICING" AT THE DEALER. ALSO LATER IN THE EVENING I TRIED STARTING THE CAR AND NOTICED THE CAR WOULD CONTINUE TO CRANK WITHOUT TURNING THE VEHICLE ON. AGAIN, THE SAME PROBLEM I HAD BEFORE I TOOK MY CAR IN. I BELIEVE NO ACTION WAS TAKEN IN REPAIRING RECALL ISSUES AND THEY ARE TRYING TO MAKE CUSTOMERS PAY ($650 IN MY CASE) TO ACTUALLY MAKE THE REPAIRS.
ALTERNATOR FAILED WHILE GOING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT 65 MPG, RESULTING IN LOSS OF STEERING AND BRAKING. ALTERNATOR IS 180 AMP MODEL. VEHICLE HAS ONLY 80,384 MILES. ALTERNATOR FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT ANY WARNING, AND RESULTED IN BATTERY FAILURE AS WELL. TOTAL COST FOR TWO COMPONENTS: $900 PLUS LABOR THROUGH DEALERSHIP.

LETTER FROM CONSUMER REGARDING ISSUES WITH THEIR 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE DUE TO A RECALL; SEEKING REIMBURSEMENT. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED ON DECEMBER 8, 2016, THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. AFTER AN UNSUCCESSFUL ATTEMPT BY AAA TO JUMP START IT, THE CONSUMER HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED AAA SERVICE CENTER. UPON DIAGNOSTICS, IT WAS DETERMINED THE PROBLEM NEEDED REPAIRED BY AN AUTHORIZED JEEP DEALER. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THE ALTERNATOR SHORTED OUT AND DRAINED THE BATTERY. THE DEALER ALSO FOUND THE STARTER CIRCUIT INTERNAL TO TIMP TO BE OPEN. THE DEALER REPLACED THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR AND INSTALLED A NEW PCM AND TIMP AND REPROGRAMMED BOTH MODULES AT A COST OF $ 2,636.54. THE CONSUMER IS SEEKING REIMBURSEMENT AS A RESULT OF THE RECALL HE DISCOVERED ON THE INTERNET. *JB

ALTERNATOR BURNED UP WHILE VEHICLE ON. VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN DOWN CITY ROAD AND WHEN I STOPPED SMOKE AND BURN SMELL OBSERVED. IT WAS FOUND THAT THERE WAS AN INTERNAL FAULT IN THE ALTERNATOR, WHICH SHORTED OUT THE BATTERY, STARTER AND ECM (COMPUTER). CAR HAD TO BE TOWED FOR REPAIR. JEEP WOULD NOT COMPENSATE $2,624 IN REPAIRS AND $267 CAR RENTAL SINCE IT WAS NOT ON RECALL.

THE NEXT ISSUE TO OCCUR WAS ONE OF THE COURTESY LIGHTS BEGAN TO INTERMITTENTLY STAY ON CONTINUOUSLY BOTH WHEN DRIVING AND WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED. 3RD ISSUE TO ARISE WAS ALL OF THE BACK UP LIGHTS STOPPED WORKING ALTOGETHER. THE LAST OCCURRENCE WAS THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND CODED THERE WAS A LEAK IN THE FUEL SYSTEM WHILE DRIVING. VEHICLE IS CURRENTLY AT DEALERSHIP AWAITING AUTHORIZATION TO REPLACE THE TIPM AND ANOTHER SENSOR.

AFTER A MILE OR SO OF DRIVING BATTERY LIGHT CAME ON AGAIN, WITH A HIGH PITCHED WHINE FROM THE ENGINE AND BURNING SMELL. ALTERNATOR FAILURE WAS DIAGNOSED. ALTERNATOR AND SERPENTINE BELT WERE REPLACED. OWNER FOUND OUT SUBSEQUENTLY, THAT ALTHOUGH THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT COVERED BY THE JEEP ALTERNATOR RECALL, IT IS THE SAME YEAR AND MODEL OF OTHERS THAT WERE COVERED. REPAIRS COST $250 FOR THE BATTERY, AND APPROXIMATELY $1100 FOR THE ALTERNATOR, BELT AND LABOR. OWNER BELIEVES THAT THIS VEHICLE SHARES THE SAME FAULT AS THE RECALLED VEHICLES. *TR

HOWEVER, WHEN I RESEARCHED THIS WITH FCA, I WAS TOLD THAT MY VIN WAS NOT A PART OF THAT RECALL. SO NOW, I AM THINKING THAT I MAY HAVE THIS DEFECTIVE EQUIPMENT IN MY VEHICLE.
