I STARTED THE ENGINE OF MY 2012 JEEP AND AS SOON I BEGAN TRAVELING WITH THE JEEP FLUIDS POURED FROM THE MIDDLE OF THE ENGINE. I DID NOT NOTICE THIS UNTIL I STOPPED THE VEHICLE AFTER DRIVING 10 MINUTES. THE COMPUTER DID NOT SHOW ANY SIGNS OF AN ERROR OR ENGINE TROUBLE. WHEN I STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND LOOKED UNDER THE FRONT OF THE CAR I SAW A STEADY STREAM OF ORANGE LIQUID POURING FROM THE MIDDLE OF THE ENGINE. THIS FLUID WAS ENGINE COOLANT. I IMMEDIATELY HAD THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A LOCAL CHRYSLER SERVICE STATION. MY JEEP HAS BEEN WITH THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT FOR OVER TWO WEEKS NOW. THE JEEP CANNOT BE FIXED DUE THE FACT THAT CHRYSLER HAS NO SPARE PARTS. *TR
POWER STEERING HOSE BURST, SPILLING FLUID, AND POWER STEERING WAS SUDDENLY LOST AFTER ONLY 400 MILES. FORTUNATELY I WAS DRIVING SLOWLY ON A NEIGHBORHOOD STREET AND NOT YET ON THE HIGHWAY. CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. MECHANIC RECEIVED DIRECTIVE FROM CHRYSLER ON A "FIX". HE MADE THE FIX, AS DIRECTED, BUT THE NEW HOSE QUICKLY BURST ON HIM DURING TESTING. CHRYSLER HAS DIRECTED A SECOND FIX. I HAVE NOT YET HEARD ABOUT THE STATUS OF THE SECOND FIX. I'VE BEEN WITHOUT MY CAR FOR 4 DAYS. I HAVE READ THAT CHRYSLER HAD TO RECALL 26,000 VEHICLES IN 2010 FOR A SIMILAR POWER STEERING PROBLEM. *TR

CONSUMER STATES PROBLEM WITH VEHICLE BRAKES *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED HE HAD SEVERAL CLOSE CALLS WHEN HE SUDDENLY HAD TO SLAM ON THE BRAKES AND THE VEHICLE SEEMED TO TAKE ADDITIONAL TIME TO STOP.*JB THE CONSUMER STATED WHEN THE DEALER PLACED THE VEHICLE ON THE HOIST, THEY FOUND THE VACUUM LINE GOING INTO THE REAR OF THE INTAKE MANIFOLD OFF THE VEHICLE. WITH NO VACUUM LINE AND AN OPEN VACUUM LEAK, THERE WAS NO POWER BRAKES. THE REPAIR AMOUNTED TO INSTALLING THE LINE AND A CLAMP WHICH WAS NOT DONE AT THE FACTORY. UPDATED 12/19/12
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, THE STEERING WHEEL BEGAN TO VIBRATE VIOLENTLY. THE DEFECT RECURRED CONTINUOUSLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FIVE TIMES FOR THE STEERING MALFUNCTION. THE REPAIRS CONSISTED OF BOTH FRONT TIRES BEING REPLACED AND BALANCED AND A FOUR WHEEL ALIGNMENT. THE FAILURE CONTINUED AFTER THE REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE VEHICLE REMAINED AT THE DEALER FOR ADDITIONAL INVESTIGATION OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE NY ASSISTANCE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150.
This vehicle has had issues starting from the beginning. It occasionally sputters for ~10 seconds when I push start and then stalls. At other times, it starts, then immediately shuts off. It often takes several attempts when either of these things happen for the car to start and keep running. Jeep eventually came out with a recall related to the fuel system that causes starting issues. I have been on a waiting list since October 2021 for the replacement parts so I can have the recall issue fixed, and Salerno Duane Jeep in Summit NJ is still telling me they have no idea when the part will be available. I am therefore selling the car because my kids drive it and I can’t have a car that won’t start for safety reasons. How can Jeep know this issue exists, keep me waiting for nearly a year and still not be able to tell me when it can get fixed?
ENGINE STARTED RUNNING ROUGHLY AND ATTEMPTED TO STALL IN TRAFFIC. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I WENT TO JEEP DEALER IN GULF SHORES ALABAMA AND WAS TOLD THAT THE LEFT CYLINDER HEAD WAS DEFECTIVE. I WAS ALSO ADVISED THAT IT WAS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT COULD RESULT IN CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE. IT IS A WELL KNOWN DEFECT IN THE 2012 CHEROKEES WITH THE 3.6 PENTASTAR ENGINE. IF THIS VEHICLE HAD STALLED WHILE ON AN INTERSTATE RAMP, OR A VALVE IN THE DEFECTIVE HEAD DROPPED DOWN INTO THE CYLINDER, AN ACCIDENT COULD RESULT. JEEP HAS FULL KNOWLEDGE OF THIS DEFECT BUT HAS NOT ISSUED A RECALL. THIS COULD BE AS SERIOUS AS THE GM IGNITION SWITCH ISSUE. *TR
TL-THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO STOP, THE VEHICLE VIOLENTLY ACCELERATED AND EXCESSIVE FORCE WAS REQUIRED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE FAILURE WAS UNABLE TO BE DUPLICATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,525. DJR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE CONTACT GLANCED INTO THE REAR VIEW MIRROR AND NOTICED SMOKE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. IMMEDIATELY THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE CONTACT EXITED THE VEHICLE WHEN SUDDENLY, MASSIVE FLAMES ERUPTED FROM UNDER THE HOOD. A FIRE REPORT WAS FILED OF THE INCIDENT. THE FIRE INSPECTOR INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE FIRE ORIGINATED FROM THE ENGINE AREA. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED AND TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR FURTHER INVESTIGATION. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35. UPDATED 7/19/12 *CN UPDATED 07/23/12

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V154000 (SERVICE BRAKES, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC) HOWEVER, THE PART NEEDED FOR THE RECALL REPAIR WAS UNAVAILABLE. PURCHASED NEW 2012 JEEP G.C. SUV IN DEC. 2011. APPX 6 MONTHS LATER A WINDSHIELD CRACK APPEARED FROM CENTER-BOTTOM OF WINDSHIELD NEAR FRONT CENTER SPEAKER ON DASHBOARD. CRACK STARTED FROM BOTTOM EDGE EXTENDING UPWARD FOR ABOUT 2 INCHES, THEN GREW 8 INCHES UP, TURNED LEFT FOR 12+ INCHES. REPLACED WINDSHIELD AT DEALER ((P104355-NORTHWEST JEEP IN HOUSTON TX) SEVERAL MONTHS LATER ($$$). THEN, AFTER ABOUT 3 MONTHS, ANOTHER SIMILAR CRACK OCCURRED FROM CENTER BOTTOM, MOVING UPWARDS, TURNING LEFT AND BRANCHING UPWARDS TO RIGHT. PERFORMED SPOT REPAIR TO STOP CRACK GROWING, DID NOT WORK. THIS WEEK, CRACK APPEARED IN DRIVER'S FRONT SIDE WINDOW DIAGONALLY 40 DEGREES TO LEFT FROM CENTER-RIGHT INSIDE DOOR PANEL TO MIDDLE OF SIDE WINDOW RIM NEAR OUTDOOR REARVIEW MIRROR. WILL TAKE CAR TO DEALER THIS WEEK. IN ALL INSTANCES, NO APPARENT OUTSIDE IMPACTS (ROCKS ETC), SO FIRMLY BELIEVE ALL 3 CRACKS ARE STRESS RELATED TO EITHER CHASIS BODY AND/OR TEMPERATURE CHANGE. CHECKING WITH VARIOUS JEEP BLOGS (EDMUNDS ETC.), MANY OTHERS REPORTING SIMILAR INCIDENTS, BUT MOSTLY ORIGINATING AROUND CENTER WINDSHIELD REARVIEW MIRROR. *TR
BACKING OUR BOAT INTO DRIVEWAY, CAR HAD BEEN RUNNING ABOUT 20 MINUTES AND ENGINE UNDER HOOD STARTED SMOKING, FLUID THEN DRIPPED TO DRIVEWAY AND CAUGHT FIRE, EXTENDED INTO FULL ENGINE COMPARTMENT ENGINE ENTIRELY DESTROYED. *TT ...UPDATED 07/19/12 *BF CHRYSLER AGREED TO REPLACE THE VEHICLE UNDER WARRANTY. UPDATED 07/19/12
THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. ON 5/8/2012 THE CONTACT PUSHED THE START BUTTON ON THE VEHICLE, THE LIGHTS ON THE VEHICLE FLASHED ONCE, AND IMMEDIATELY THE VEHICLE TURNED OFF COMPLETELY. CONTACT PUSHED THE START BUTTON AGAIN, THE LIGHTS IN THE VEHICLE REMAINED OFF, AND THE ENGINE DID NOT START. THE VEHICLE BATTERY WAS COMPLETELY DEAD. CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO JUMP START THE VEHICLE IN ORDER TO DRIVE IT TO THE DEALER BUT VEHICLE STILL WOULD NOT START. SUBSEQUENTLY THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER FOR REPAIR. DEALER DETERMINED VEHICLE HAD A BAD BATTERY. PER THE INVOICE RECEIVED FROM THE DEALER "BODY GROUND AT BATTERY WAS NOT SECURE" AND AFTER INSTALLING NEW BATTERY MECHANIC NOTICED "SPARKING AT LOWER NEGATIVE CABLE ON BODY" AND THAT HE "FOUND NUT FOR STUD LAYING IN THE BOTTOM OF THE BATTERY TRAY". MECHANIC THEN NOTED HE FIXED THE ABOVE PROBLEMS AND RE-INSTALLED THE NEW BATTERY. DEALER THEN RETURNED THE VEHICLE TO THE CONTACT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE AND A CASE WAS ASSIGNED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 1 MPH IN THE DRIVEWAY, A LOUD NOISE EMITTED FROM OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND SUDDENLY THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN. THE CONTACT NOTICED AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF STEERING FLUID LEAKING ONTO THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHERE THE POWER STEERING HOSE WAS RECONNECTED. THE MALFUNCTION RECURRED TWICE AND EACH TIME THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER. THERE WERE OTHER REPAIRS PERFORMED AT DIFFERENT TIMES, WHICH CONSISTED OF REPLACING THE POWER STEERING PUMP AND COOLER. IN ADDITION, THE POWER STEERING RACK AND HOSES WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE PROBLEM. THERE WAS CURRENTLY AN OPEN INVESTIGATION UNDER NHTSA ACTION NUMBER PE12020 (STEERING:HYDRAULIC POWER ASSIST:HOSE, PIPING, AND CONNECTIONS). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE DEFECT. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000.
IN EITHER THE 5TH OR 6TH GEAR, THE TRANSMISSION/DRIVE TRAIN SHUTTERS WHEN ASCENDING A MODEST GRADE AT A STEADY SPEED BETWEEN 50 AND 65 MPH. INITIALLY THERE WAS A POWER LOSS AND THE TRANSMISSION SEEMED TO GO INTO NEUTRAL MOMENTARILY. CHRYSLER REPLACED THE OXYGEN SENSOR, TORQUE CONVERTER AND SEVERAL FLUIDS AND FILTERS. THIS HAS HELPED, BUT THE SHUTTERING REMAINS. CHRYSLER MAINTAINS THE CONDITION IS NORMAL, AND, IF THE SHUTTERING IS BOTHERSOME, THE CAR SHOULD BE PUT IN THE "TOW/HAUL" MODE EVEN IF NOTHING IS BEING TOWED AND ONLY THE DRIVER IS IN THE CAR. TURNED ONTO STATE HIGHWAY WHEN ENGINE BEGAN TO MAKE SEIZURE NOISE AND TEMPERATURE MOVED TOWARD H WITH SHAKING AND LOST POWER FROM ENGINE. I PUT ON EMERGENCY BLINKERS, REMOVED FOOT FROM ACCELERATOR, TAPPED BRAKES, WITH NOISE CONTINUING, WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ACCELERATE AGAIN WITH NO POWER OCCURRING. I DRIFTED SLOWING DOWN THE HIGHWAY A FEW HUNDRED FEET, TURNED ONTO A SIDE ROAD, WITH VIOLENT ENGINE SEIZURE NOISE CONTINUING AND TURNED OFF VEHICLE. VEHICLE RESTARTED WITHOUT A PROBLEM. I GOT VEHICLE TOWED TO DEALER TO BE CHECKED SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE ONLY TWO WEEKS PRIOR. I HIGHLY SUSPECT ENGINE DEBRIS CAUSED THIS VERY DANGEROUS INCIDENT. I THOUGHT AN EXPLOSION OF THE VEHICLE WOULD OCCUR AND A CRASH FROM APPROACHING VEHICLES. I WILL NOT TAKE DELIVERY OF THE VEHICLE IN INCIDENT AND REQUESTED OUT OF CONTRACT. *TR
I BOUGHT MY BAND NEW 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE OVERLAND 7 MONTHS AGO - BRAND NEW FROM THE CHRYSLER JEEP DEALERSHIP AND ABOUT A MONTH AFTER I BOUGHT IT I STARTED TO NOTICE THE ACCELERATION IS NOT 100%, THE WINDOWS STOP ROLLING UP OR DOWN FOR HOURS AT A TIME AT RANDOM TIME, THE BRAKES SOMETIMES DON'T WORK ALL THE WAY, THE ENGINE JUMPS WHEN SWITCHING GEARS AND MOST RECENTLY MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON, THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND THE RPMS WOULD NOT GO PAST 1.5 EVEN WHEN FLOORING IT & THERE WERE LOUD CLICKING NOISES WITH A LOUD FAN. THIS TIME I WAS NOT ABLE TO DRIVE TO THE DEALERSHIP - I HAD TO TOW IT IN BECAUSE IT WAS NOT DRIVABLE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER SHIP 3 TIMES FOR THEM TO CHECK ON THESE THINGS & EVERYTIME I TAKE IT IN THEY TELL ME THEY ARE "UNABLE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEMS" & CANNOT HELP ME. I HAVE CALLED NUMEROUS TIMES TO COMPLAIN & REPORT ISSUES AND THEY EITHER TELL ME THEY CANNOT HELP ME, THEY PUT ME ON HOLD FOR AN INFINITE AMOUNT OF TIME, I GO TO VOICEMAIL, OR NO ONE IS AVAILABLE. THEY CALLED ME TODAY, AFTER HAVING IT FOR 4 DAYS, AND TOLD ME THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS FOR A "EVAP PERG SYSTEM" SO THEY REPLACED A HOSE & UPDATED MY POWER CONTROL MODULE AS A PRECAUTION. WHEN I ASKED THEM HOW THIS HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH MY ENGINE PROBLEMS HE COULD NOT EXPLAIN IT. WHEN I ASKED HIM WHY MY ENGINE HAS PROBLEMS HE COULD NOT EXPLAIN IT. NO ONE THERE WANTS TO HELP ME - WHAT I FEEL LIKE THEY ARE DOING IS GIVING ME EXCUSE AFTER EXCUSE IN THE BOOK, STALLING ME FOR AS LONG AS THEY CAN UNTIL MY WARRANTY RUNS OUT. I HAVE DEALT WITH 4 MANAGERS THERE - THE 1ST ONE STOPPED RETURNING MY PHONE CALLS, THE 2ND ONE TOLD ME I AM IMAGINING THINGS AND I SHOULD STOP COMPLAINING AND BE THANKFUL THAT I HAVE A NEW CAR, THE 3RD ONE POND ME OFF ONTO A 4TH ONE & THE 4TH ONE TOLD ME TO MY FACE THAT I AM A LIAR AND I AM MAKING UP STORIES SO THE SITUATION LOOKS WORSE THEN IT ACTUALLY IS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH, AN UNUSUAL NOISE EMITTED OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND THE TRANSMISSION SLIPPED GEARS. THE VEHICLE WAS MANEUVERED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER THE GEAR WAS SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL THEN DRIVE, THE VEHICLE RESUMED NORMALLY. THE FAILURE RECURRED SPORADICALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO LOCATE THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000. REPORTED A BRAKING PROBLEM TO JEEP DEALERSHIP HAPPENED ON 3 OCCASIONS ON THE PARKWAY, FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO CONTROL THE BRAKING BY DOWNSHIFTING MY JEEP. WENT TO THE DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY THINKING MY JEEP NEEDED BRAKE PADS...WHICH I PAID TO REPLACE ANYWAY TO BE ON THE SAFE SIDE. THERE WAS A BRAKE RECALL FROM CHRYSLER ON 2012 JEEPS GC & ALSO REPORTED THE BREAKING PROBLEM TO JEEP HEADQUARTERS ON 2 DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. I WAS TOLD I WOULD RECEIVE A RECALL NOTICE, MY REPORTS ARE ON FILE. IT'S ALMOST 2 MONTHS & I STILL HAVE NOT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE FROM CHRYSLER I DON'T UNDERSTAND WHAT IS TAKING CHRYSLER SO LONG TO SEND OUT RECALL NOTICES WHEN A BRAKING PROBLEM IS AT STAKE & HAS BEEN REPORTED TO CHRYSLER & THE JEEP DEALERSHIP. I ALSO CHECKED WITH MY DEALERSHIP TODAY ( APR 22ND) TO SEE IF CHRYSLER PERHAPS HAS SENT THE RECALL TO THEM VIA MESSAGING ?????????? NO LUCK CHRYSLER HAS MY VIN # & REPORT ON FILE, HOWEVER AS OF TODAY I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE. DOES CHRYSLER WAIT UNTIL SOMEONE HAS AN ACCIDENT BEFORE THEY SEND OUT THE RECALL NOTICES ?????????????? *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS AND ALSO WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DIFFICULT TO DEPRESS. IN ADDITION, ONCE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, IT FAILED TO RELEASE. THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE BRAKE BOOSTER AND THE BRAKE PEDAL NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS PREVIOUSLY REPAIRED UNDER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 14V154000 (SERVICE BRAKES, SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. WE PURCHASED A NEW JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WITH 5 MILES ON IT. UPON LEAVING THE DEALERSHIP THE ENGINE BEGAN MAKING A STRANGE NOISE. WE BROUGHT THE CAR BACK TO THE DEALER AND THE MECHANIC TOLD US TO LEAVE THE CAR. IT'S 5 DAYS LATER AND ALL WE KNOW SO FAR IS THAT THEY HAVE REMOVED THE FRONT END OF THE TRANSMISSION AND THEY ARE STILL WORKING ON IT. WE DON'T HAVE THE CAR. ADDITIONALLY, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE DOOR WAS NOT FLUSH WITH THE BODY OF THE CAR. WE ASKED THEM TO LOOK AT THE DOOR TO SEE IF IT WAS NOT INSTALLED PROPERLY. THEY OFFERED TO HAVE THE BODY SHOP BEND THE DOOR. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2012 JEEP CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO DECELERATE AND WOULD NOT EXCEED 30 MPH. THE CONTACT STOPPED THE VEHICLE ON THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD. AFTER RESTARTING, THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO ACCELERATE NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS AND THE TECHNICIAN UPDATED THE COMPUTER. THE FAILURE CONTINUED AFTER THE REPAIR. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM AND THE FOUR WHEEL DRIVE WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED WHEN THE FAILURE OCCURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES AND THE MANUFACTURER SENT SEVERAL ENGINEERS TO FURTHER INSPECT THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT ABLE TO DETERMINE WHAT CAUSED THE FAILURE. THIS JEEP WAS REPLACED BECAUSE THE PRIOR JEEP WAS LEMON LAW. THE ENGINE LIGHT APPEARED AFTER ABOUT 3 WEEKS OF PURCHASE, THE CAR WAS BRAND NEW. LIKE THE LAST JEEP, IT WOULD STALL CAUSING LOSS OF POWER BRAKES AND POWER STEERING. THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM WOULD ALSO FREEZE (NAVIGATION AND RADIO) CONSTANTLY AND WOULD NOT FIX ITSELF UNLESS THE BATTERY WAS UNPLUGGED. SHAVE JEEP IN THOUSAND OAKS, CA UPGRADED THE ENGINE AND NAVIGATION SOFTWARE, BUT PROBLEMS RESUMED SHORT AFTER. SHAVER JEEP THEN INFORMED ME THAT THEY WOULD ONLY LOOK AT THE VEHICLE IF THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON. THE ENGINE LIGHT WOULD GO ON AND OFF SO IT WAS HARD TO TIME IT RIGHT TO BRING IT INTO THE SHOP. BECAUSE OF THIS "RULE," SHAVER JEEP WILL NOT ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THE CAR HAS BEEN BROUGHT IN FOR REPAIR 7 TIMES. AS OF TODAY, THE CAR STALLED ON A BUSY FREEWAY AND PUT THE PASSENGERS IN DANGER. PREPARING TO BACK FROM MY GARAGE, I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE AND PLACED THE SELECTOR IN REVERSE. DESPITE MY HOLDING FIRMLY ON THE BRAKE, THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE MOVED BACKWARDS AS IF SLIDING ON ICE. IT COLLIDED, AT A SLOW SPEED, WITH A CAR PARKED OPPOSITE ON THE DRIVEWAY. WHILE CONTINUING TO APPLY THE BRAKE, I MOVED THE SELECTOR INTO DRIVE IN ORDER TO PULL FORWARD AWAY FROM THE OTHER VEHICLE. THE JEEP LUNGED FORWARD WITH THE FRONT TIRES REMAINING STATIONARY AND SLIDING ALONG THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE STONE COLUMN BETWEEN THE TWO GARAGE DOORS. THE CAR WAS DAMAGED TO THE EXTENT OF AT LEAST $5,700. THERE WAS DAMAGE TO THE BUILDING AND TO ONE OF THE GARAGE DOORS. I AM FEARFUL OF DRIVING THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE EVEN AFTER REPAIRS ARE COMPLETED. IF I HAD BEEN IN A PARKING LOT OR AT A STOP LIGHT THERE COULD HAVE BEEN SEVERE DAMAGE OR INJURY FROM THIS INCIDENT. *TR
YESTERDAY, 5 JAN 12, AS I APPROACHED A STOP LIGHT I REMOVED MY FOOT FROM THE GAS AND APPLIED THE BRAKES. THE VEHICLE DID NOT SLOW DOWN AS EXPECTED. IT WAS AS IF THE ENGINE WAS FIGHTING ME. I PUT THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL AND THE RPMS SHOT UP TO ABOUT 5000 AND THEN WENT BACK DOWN. THE CRUISE CONTROL WAS NOT ENGAGED AND MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE, NOT ON THE GAS. TODAY, AS I WAS COASTING TOWARDS AN INTERSECTION, FOOT OFF THE GAS, I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE AND AGAIN THE ENGINE REVVED UP CAUSING ME TO HAVE TO PRESS VERY HARD ON THE BRAKE TO STOP. I WAS GOING APPROXIMATELY 20-25 APPROACHING A SIGNAL LIGHT. I LET OFF THE GAS AND APPLIED THE BRAKE AS THE LIGHT WAS RED. AS I LET OFF THE GAS, THE ENGINE BEGAN TO REV HIGHER AND AS I APPLIED THE BRAKE I HAD TO APPLY IT HARDER AND HARDER AS THE ENGINE CONTINUED TO REV EVEN HIGHER. I BEGAN TO SMELL THE BRAKES BURNING AS THEY TRIED TO HOLD THE CAR BACK. FORTUNATELY I HAD THE FORESIGHT TO PUT THE CAR IN NEUTRAL. IT CONTINUED TO REV FOR ABOUT 5 SECONDS AND THEN WENT DOWN TO NORMAL. IT HAS HAPPENED ONCE. NO WARNING LIGHTS WENT ON. THE DEALER SAID THAT THEY CONTACTED THE DETROIT TECHNICAL BUREAU AND THEY SUGGESTED THAT MAYBE IT WAS THE FLOOR MAT, OR MY FOOT, ETC, ETC BUT CLAIMED THEY HAD NO OTHER REPORTS OF THIS OCCURRING. I DON'T HAVE CARPETS AS I OPTED FOR THE RUBBER MATS AND THEY SIT TIGHT TO THE FLOOR. AND MY FOOT WAS NOT STUCK ON THE GAS. I WAS CONSCIOUS OF THE FACT THAT MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE AND NOT THE GAS AS I WAS TRYING TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THE HECK WAS GOING ON. THEY SAID THEY DROVE IT AND DID COMPUTER CHECKS AND HAD NO EXPLANATION. THE SERVICE REP SAID THE RESPONSE FROM THE TECHNICAL BUREAU WOULD BE "INSULTING TO ME". THE DEALER WAS BRADSHAW JEEP IN WATERTOWN, CT AND THE SERVICE REP WAS VICTOR. I WROTE THIS OUT ON THE SERVICE ORDER AND KEPT A COPY. *TR

INTERMITTENT ELECTRICAL PROBLEM -- ALARM SOUNDS, HORNS HONK, LIGHTS FLASH, RADIO COMES ON AT ALL HOURS, DAY OR NIGHT, WHEN CAR IS NOT RUNNING, PARKED IN DRIVEWAY, ON ITS OWN, WITHOUT FOBS OR PEOPLE NEARBY. CAR DOES NOT HAVE AN ALARM SYSTEM! PANIC BUTTON ON FOB NOT PUSHED. RACKET STOPS AFTER ~15 MINUTES, ON ITS OWN, UNTIL THE NEXT INCIDENT ANYWHERE FROM A WEEK TO SEVERAL WEEKS LATER. JUNE 12, 2014, THERE WERE TWO INCIDENTS ON THE SAME DAY, ONCE IN THE MORNING, WHILE DRIVING, ONCE IN THE LATE AFTERNOON WHEN PARKED AND NOT RUNNING. NO ERROR CODES IN VIC. CAR STARTS AND RUNS NORMAL WITH ALL THE RACKET THE GOING ON, BUT THERE IS NO WAY TO STOP THE FLASHING LIGHTS. PULLING THE TWO FUSES FOR THE HORNS LEAVES ONLY THE FLASHING LIGHTS, BUT NO HORNS IF THEY ARE NEEDED. HEADLIGHTS SWITCH INEFFECTIVE. LIGHTS CONTINUE TO FLASH WHEN HEADLIGHTS ARE TURNED ON AS IF CIRCUIT IS BYPASSED. *JS
THE FOLLOWING DANGEROUS CONDITION IN THE 2012 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE HAS BEEN RAISED BY MANY DRIVERS ALL OVER THE INTERNET AND JEEP REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THERE IS A PROBLEM. NAMELY, THE HEADLIGHT SYSTEM IS TILTED DOWN SO VISIBILITY DISTANCE IS VERY LOW. THERE IS ABOUT 25 TO 30 FEET OF VISIBILITY THEN THERE IS A BLACK WALL OF DARKNESS IN FRONT OF THE CAR. YOU CAN'T DRIVE THE CAR SAFELY AT NIGHT ON UNLIT ROADS. JEEP REFUSES TO ADMIT THEY KNOW OF ANY PROBLEM DESPITE THE COUNTLESS PEOPLE ON THE INTERNET THAT CLAIM THEY HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE VISITED THEIR DEALERS. EVERY OWNER OF THIS CAR IS TOLD THAT JEEP KNOWS NOTHING OF THIS PROBLEM AND THAT THE CAR IS TO SPEC. *TR
MY ISSUE WITH THE JEEP IS THAT I BELIEVE IT HAS AN DESIGN AND ENGINEERING FLAW. THIS VEHICLE HAS AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. WHEN THE SHIFT LEVER IS IN DRIVE THE LEVER IF BUMPED ACCIDENTALLY TO THE LEFT IT WILL DOWN SHIFT. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. I WAS TRAVELING IN EXCESS OF 65 MPH'S THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED AND DIDN'T REALIZE WHAT HAD CAUSED THE DOWNSHIFT. THIS IS VERY HARD ON THE TRANSMISSION AND ENGINE NOT TO SAY A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE. I'M LEFT HANDED AND DRIVE SUCH, MANY TIMES I HAVE CAUGHT THE RIGHT SLEEVE OF MY SHIRT ON THE SHIFT LEVER AND HAVE CAUSED THE TRANSMISSION TO DOWNSHIFT .
