The head rest on the driver side popped open without a crash.
Had to have repairs done after two weeks of purchase of vehicle for recall for vehicle losing power when picking up speed also engine light is on continuously. Contacted dealer and requested repairs Dealer was non-compliance.I had to pay for repairs myself. Still having issues and engine light still on. Contacted dealership and requested reimbursement for repairs 5 months ago haven't been reimbursed yet. What can I do. Spent $1400 for repairs
We were just driving on the road when the passenger head rest deployed forward. We were not hit or parked anywhere, just normal driving through town. This sent a slight tingling sensation around back of neck and spine, now just sore later in the day.
This is in reference to recall #Z46/NHTSA 22V-406 On June 11 2025 I had my Jeep at the dealer for an unrelated problem. The next day when the dealer called me to let me now that my Jeep was ready they mentioned they preformed the high pressure fuel pump recall. I figured no big deal, no additional trip to dealer for the recall. After getting my vehicle home I looked in to what exactly was done as part of the recall. I also found the instructions for the work to be done and the parts to be replaced as part of this recall. The dealer only preformed part of the recall, they replaced the pump the filters and left the label pack in an envelope in the vehicle. When I called them the next day to ask why the additional parts were not installed they said that they do do that part of the recall for no contaminated vehicles. In the instructions for the recall it states numerous times that the high pressure fuel lines are one time use and to discard and replace the lines. In their own service instructions for high pressure fuel lines or whenever the lines need to be removed for a repair the fuel lines are to be replaced. I have had to pay for fuel lines in the past on a repair that required removal. So my question is are dealers required to replace one time use parts only when the customer is paying? same for the EGR tube and gasket. This recall was serious enough to cause a nation wide stop sale order on all dealer stock. the dealer that did this work is West Valley Chrysler Jeep Dodge 4174 West 3500 South West Valley City UT 84120 (801) 955-0872 Any help with this would be appreciated.
I was adjusting my front passenger seat when out of nowhere my headrest snapped/ pop open apart . Keep in mind I take care of my vehicle this shouldn’t had happened . I was checking it out and plastics pieces are broken they should fix it with a better material.
- Incident: Passenger seat headrest deployed without reason. Upon looking it was identified that the small plastic headrest clips spontaneously broke on their own (no accident). Car is parked in the garage every day. The headrest was normal when vehicle was parked. The headrest was found deployed when the car was utilized the next morning. - Available for inspection upon request. - Issue appears to be a well known problem for Jeep Grand Cherokee vehicles when looking online, yet no recall noted on my specific Jeep Grand Cherokee. - Safety: had this deployed while someone was in the car it could have caused injury. - No warning lights or other notifications before or after headrest deployment. - Jeep has never let me know about any headrest recall or potential headrest issue though all services have been done through their service departments.
Jeep constantly leaks oil and overheats even after replacing the water pump, radiator and thermostat. The airbag light comes on randomly and also Navigation system no longer works.
The active headrest shot off without cause and whiplashed my head and neck. There was not an accident or any reason for it to go off.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that upon pulling into the driveway at 5 MPH, there was an abnormal snapping sound coming from the vehicle. Due to the failure, the vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was discovered that the rear cradle bolts attached to the suspension had failed. The contact stated that the failure caused damages the driveshaft, muffler, air bags, air suspension, and several other parts on the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but was offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 154,000.
While driving downtown Atlanta, Ga I heard a loud noise and then a hit in the back of my head. I was startled at first not knowing what had happened. I first thought maybe I way hit by another vehicle, or someone may have thrown something from the overpass. I got off the interstate and found the head rest had blown open. I have since learned that possibly the car maker is aware of the problem, I don't know if the car maker is fixing the problem. I see where this could have negative results to owners that already have neck and back problems, another big concern is having an accident. On the highway my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Diesel briefly stalled and the check engine light came on. I then lost all power and could only maintain a speed of 45MPH in a 70MPH speed limit highway. I turned on my flashers and could not get off the road due to construction and Jersey barriers for several miles. When I had the opportunity I pulled off the side of the road and called to have my vehicle towed to a service facility. I was informed by the mechanic that scanned my car for trouble codes, a P0336-00 was set in my PCM. The mechanic informed me that I would have to take the vehicle to a Jeep Chrysler dealer. This is apparently a known issue with 2014 to 2018 Jeep Grad Cherokees equipped with the 3.0L diesel engine including RAM 1500s of the same vintage with the same diesel engine installed. The specific problem is that the crank shaft tone wheel is not read by the crankshaft position sensor because of degradation to the tone wheel which is connected to the crankshaft. I have complied with all safety and emission recalls. Related: RC-RW68-20 Safety Recall W68 Transport Canada 2020-371 Loss of Crankshaft Position. Requires the replacement of the Tone wheel. Issued 02/11/2021. RC-RW58-20 Safety Recall W68 Transport Canada 2020-371 Loss of Crankshaft Position. Requires PCM Software update for Loss of Crankshaft Position. In lieu of the Tone Wheel failing, the computer uses the Camshaft Position sensor. This is only designed to not disable the car completely but allow the driver to pull of the road. P0335-00 or P0336-00 wil be set and a check engine light will illuminate. My vehicle was not included in the NTHSA Safety Recall and it should have been.
The drivers headrest spontaneously exploded while we were driving and hit the driver in the back of the head and created a loud gunshot noise that startled us. When we stopped to inspect the headrest, the plastic clips that held it in place had snapped. We were not in a collision, nor did we hit any significant bumps. His head was not even touching the headrest when it occurred.
My car goes into neutral on its own.
Car stalls without warning. Car is able to cruise and brake until I can pull off to the side of the road. Car will restart after turning it off. Speed, time, duration of the drive does not matter. It happened at 40 MPH, 60 MPH, 80 MPH. It happens 5 minutes into a drive or 20 minutes. Took it to the mechanic multiple times, codes do not pop up. Engine light does not come on. Mechanic is unable to find the problem.
Air suspension warning needs to be replaced
The SRS airbag light keeps coming up and does not show up as an error when a diagnostic is run on the car and they need to pull tge system apart to figire iut what the issue is. Secondly the capless gas tank nozzle keeps falling off.
Needs rocker arms, valve lifters and camshafts replaced.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving at 10 MPH in a parking lot, the vehicle unintendedly shifted into neutral. The contact stated that the RED caution warning light illuminated, and a message was displayed that the vehicle going too fast for the gear. The vehicle shifted into neutral independently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, there was no diagnostic test provided. The dealer stated that the vehicle was repaired; however, the failure reoccurred twice. On another occasion, after the vehicle was repaired, the vehicle shifted into neutral independently and the vehicle rolled backwards. The vehicle remained had been with the dealer since March 26, 2025. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was opened. The failure mileage was approximately 112,000.
The monostable shifter shifts without pressing the button. Can be bumped out of gear while driving. Message on display reads "service shifter". Replacement is necessary.
The Traction control light comes on while driving, once that happens it changes the performance of the vehicle it stays in one and it doesn’t allow you to do more then 43 at the most.
Lifters are ticking. Yet another 3.6L Pentastar engine with the same issue, and no recall issued. Someone is going to die from this defect, if there haven't already been fatalities related to this problem.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the check engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that there was coolant intrusion into the engine, and that the left cylinder head and the A/C condenser needed to be replaced. The independent mechanic made the contact aware of an unknown recall; however, the VIN was not included. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 73,000.
My steering wheel electrical components don’t work including the windshield wipers.
Seat belt locks and is not functional
Seat active headrest deployed on its own. Plastics holding rod inside is broken and headrest cannot be snapped back into place. No warning or symptoms prior to failure. Headrest hit passengers head when it snapped and deployed.
The headrest broke for no reason

The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited. The contact stated that while in a parking space and reversing, the vehicle was then shifted into drive and the high gear message was displayed. The vehicle accelerated unintendedly and the brake pedal failed to bring the vehicle to a stop. As a result, the vehicle crashed into a 2015 Chrysler Town and Country where it came to a stop. No warning lights illuminated. There were no reported injuries, fire or air bag deployment. A police report was filed. The contact was able to drive the vehicle to her residence. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer where they were unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 71,535.
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated while driving approximately 40-45 MPH, the vehicle hesitated and started losing motive power. The accelerator pedal was depressed, and the transmission failed to shift as needed. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact attempted to restart the vehicle, and the vehicle restarted after several attempts. The contact stated that the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the crankshaft position sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V411000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact stated that weeks before the failure, while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle went into LIMP Mode. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where it was diagnosed that an unknown sensor needed to be replaced. The sensor was replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 166,000.
January 2, 2025 - the front passenger seat belt failed to retract. Since we always use the seatbelts when in our vehicle, we have not had anyone sit in that seat since. There were no warning lights, messages or hint of a problem prior to this failure. January 30, 2025 took the vehicle to the local Jeep dealer to have the problem looked at. Per the service order, seat belt was inspected using X90 instructions and it failed. Replacement part ( 1VL06DX9AG) was ordered and I was told it would be 2-4 weeks before the part would be available. February thru early May I would visit the local Jeep dealer, as well as other Jeep dealers I may drive by, to see if the part was available and I was told it was backordered and the waiting list for it was growing. May 28, 2025 - Jeep dealer service rep called me to say that it was still back ordered with no idea on when part would be coming in. Until repaired I remain unable to use the front passenger seat.
The passenger seatbelt is broken, will not retract whatsoever!!
Drivers side safety belt does not retract and stays loose
I was crossing a road to get to the median and my Jeep stopped moving in the middle of a 4 lane highway, separated by a median that I never made it to due to it stopping moving during acceleration. It made noise when I pressed on the gas pedal but didn’t go anywhere. I was hit by a car that couldn’t avoid me, and my daughter and I were injured in the crash. My daughter had a fracture in her right leg & facial bruising. I had a laceration requiring stitches and facial bruising, lost consciousness at the scene and am severely concussed. Progressive deemed my Jeep a total loss.
Below are the series of events. The reason for this report is related to item number 6. I have attached pictures. I contacted the manufacturer about this and they said that it was made like this from the plastic moulding, but I inspected the seat prior to install and these marks were not there. 1. I bought the seat on November 30, 2024 2. I installed it in my 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee on December 17, 2024 3. I could not get the leveling ball in the correct location for a rear facing install with a 25lb baby. I had a zoom call with Evenflo and she was unsure as well and said to send pictures and she would pass along. I did so on this same day and did not hear back. 4. The seat remained installed in my car, but unused by my child as I had not heard if it was safe. 5. On December 26, 2024 I decided to try an install of the seat forward facing to see if it would work for my older kid. I could not get the shell on the base in forward facing position and after not hearing back overall felt like the correct decision is to return it. 6. I got the shell off and noticed stress marks on the plastic where the belt path is. This seems incredibly dangerous, and it had never even had a kid in it. These marks were not there when I purchased the seat. 7. I initiated the return. The point mentioned in (6) seems of high concern for the safety of this seat.
The panel that holds in the knee airbags under the steering wheel came open for no reason and exposed the air bag. The vehicle was not involved in a crash and appears to be a manufacture workmanship issue.
While driving the vehicle the shifter goes into neutral from drive
After a very long road trip, I noticed that the rear wheel well liners had come in contact with the rear tires. The contact was severe enough and prolonged enough to wear down the edge of the tires to the cords. Once I noticed the damage, I stopped driving the vehicle until I could get new tires. I do not have the tires but I took pictures and the wheel well liners still have a hole in them. Had I not noticed the damage, a catastrophic failure of the tire could have resulted with unknow consequences to myself or those driving near me. The wheel well liners did not come loose or detached from the vehicle. They somehow flexed forward and made contact with the tire. The tire/wheel did not flex or move rearward. This would have required major damage to the suspension of the vehicle and the vehicle would have been undrivable. My assumption is that with the very wet road conditions, the wheel well liners became very flexible but not enough to contact the tires. At highway speeds, due to the air flow around the vehicle, it appears that the lower quarter panels flexed inwards. This allowed the now flexible wheel well liner to flex forward, due to air pressure behind the wheel well liner, and make contact with the tire. Tire tires involved are not the stock make and model but were the stock size. I will be adding a small aluminum strip to the bottom of the wheel well liner to prevent this from happening in the future.
The driver side head restraint mysteriously came apart. We discovered it one morning as we were getting into our car. We've read that there is an extended warranty applicable to the restraint. I've spoken with our local dealer who has begun the repair process (ordering parts, etc.). However, I am concerned that the passenger side one will break as well, perhaps while my husband or guest is sitting in that seat. We purchased the Jeep on 01.19.15, so the extended 10 year warranty that the manufacturer offers will expire for us on 01.18.25, a short time from now. Most likely, the other head restraint will not fail in the next few weeks, so we would be left paying for the 2nd restraint failure ourselves. We definitely feel that a recall should be issued for this manufacturing issue.
Cylinder 2 misfire
On 12/09/2024, I got into the vehicle, sat in the driver seat, turned the ignition on, and then immediately, the driver seat adaptive headrest popped open hitting the back of my head forcefully. I looked inside the headrest and it appears that there are two plastic pieces that cracked and broke apart.
Drivers seat belt not retracting.
While driving on 4 lane, at 55mph Jeep Grand Cherokee shifts into N very rough, steer to shoulder of hwy - dash reads “vehicle speed to high to shift” - and kills motor. Happened 3 times last night (12/3/24 at 7:15pm- outdoor temp was 21) Very, very hazardous to say the least!!! What is happening here? At the time this happened- no warning at all! Jeep has a serious problem with others complaining about this same issue- they have gotten no answers.
My car keeps slipping into neutral, not able to go over forty three miles per hour. Will not go into park or drive at times. Electrical issues. This has happened several times two times on the freeway, with one of them and entering the freeway, almost causing an accident.
Driver side head restraint exploded automatically.
Our Jeep will shift into neutral at random while driving. This has happened 5 times with in 2 years and twice on the same day. The most recent incident occurred on [XXX] while driving my wife and 3 week old daughter to Orange County. On this day, the Jeep shifted into neutral twice. The first time it happen, we were heading to Orange County and I was on the offramp when it shifted and I was able to pull over safely. My wife has experienced this previously and told me to turn off the car and wait a minute and turn it it back on. I was able to turn the car on and got to our destination. On our return home, it happened again while we were in the fast lane on the highway. I had to cross 5 lanes while the vehicle was in neutral during traffic. Once, we got to the side of the highway, I wasn't able to use the break as well. It felt like it was fighting me while pushing the break but we did eventually come to a stop. The jeep was not able to start back up like the first time and had to call for a tow truck. We have taken this Jeep 3 times to get inspected but all 3 times they couldn't duplicate the issue and gave us the keys back like nothing is wrong. We've taken it to a Chrysler dealership twice and a private one. There was never a warning lamp light whenever this occurred. The Jeep's defect poses a significant safety risk to myself, my infant daughter, my son, my wife, or whomever is in my car at the time and everyone else on the road. My feeling is that Chrysler won't do anything until its too late and someone is injured or a lost of life. I have reached out to them already and got a case number. Its been a week and no case manager has called me yet. This is unacceptable . INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Blinker switch with not reset when turning right . It just clicks but does not turn off
Passenger seat belt did not retract. No accident or any incident that led to it, normal use. Then noticed the plastic portion where the seat belt feeds is cracked and obstructing it from retracting without feeding it manually back through the shoot
Keep will not fill with gas keeps tripping the gas pump off !
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 22V406000 (Fuel System, Diesel), 20V475000 (Engine and Engine Cooling), and 20V699000 (Engine and Engine Cooling); however, the parts to do the recall repairs were not yet available. The local dealer was contacted and informed the contact that they could not perform the recall repair because the contact had modified the PCM. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.
