VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY IN PARK AFTER EXITING VEHICLE WHILE ENGINE WAS RUNNING WITH DRIVERS DOOR OPEN VEHICLE STARTED MOVING IN REVERSE. I HAD TO CHASE VEHICLE AND JUMP IN TO STOP VEHICLE. THANKFULLY THERE WAS NOTHING BEHIND VEHICLE
AFTER TWO MONTHS FROM PURCHASE THE VENTILATED SEATS STOP WORKING. I HAVE TAKEN TO THE JEEP DEALER A TOTAL OF FOUR TIMES NOW FOR REPAIR AND THEY HAVE NOT FIXED PROBLEM. DEALER ADMITS THEY CANNOT FIX AND SAID THEY OPENED A "STAR" CASE WITH THE JEEP ENGINEERS. THIS PROBLEM IS WITH VEHICLE IN MOTION AND NOT IN MOTION.
IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO FIND PARK OR REVERSE WITH THE SHIFTER. HAVE LEFT IT IN REVERSE OR NUETRAL WITH ENGINE RUNNING AND EXITING THE CAR. FORTUNATELY THE PARKING BRAKE WAS ENGAGED WHICH PREVENTED THE CAR FROM MOVING. NEEDS TO BE FIXED.

THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V240000 (AIR BAGS); HOWEVER, THE PART FOR THE RECALL REPAIR WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. THE SHIFTER IN THIS VEHICLE IS NOT INTUITIVE, STICKS IN GEARS AND HAS POOR TACTILE FEEDBACK FOR DESIRED GEAR. OFTEN THE VEHICLE STAYS IN REVERSE GEAR WHEN PUSHED ALL THE FORWARD WHEN PARKING FROM DRIVE. IN MULTIPLE INSTANCES I THOUGHT THE CAR WAS IN PARK AND EXITED THE VEHICLE WITH THE CAR RUNNING TO FIND IT WAS STILL IN REVERSE. THE CAR STARTED TO ROLL BACKWARDS AS I WAS GETTING OUT. ALSO, PADDLE SHIFTERS ARE ERRATIC AND DO NOT SHIFT WHEN UNDER HIGH RPM. I COMPLAINED TO THE DEALER A FEW TIMES ONLY TO BE TOLD "IT TAKES SOME GETTING USED TO". THIS IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. I'VE OWNED 5 GRAND CHEROKEES INCLUDING THE 2011 YEAR WITH A PERFECTLY FUNCTIONAL AND SAFE GEAR SELECTOR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. AFTER SWITCHING TO THE PARK POSITION AND EXITING WITH THE ENGINE RUNNING, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY DROVE FORWARD AND STRUCK A SECOND VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED AN INJURED RIGHT ARM. MEDICAL ATTENTION WAS NOT REQUIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. ALSO, WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE COLLISION AVOIDANCE SYSTEM RANDOMLY ACTIVATED AND CAUSED THE BRAKING SYSTEM TO ABRUPTLY STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000.
THE GEAR SHIFT DOES NOT LOCK INTO PLACE. MORE THAN ONCE HAVE I ASSUMED I WAS IN PARK AND WAS NOT. THIS CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO ROLL SLIGHTLY. MY DAUGHTER PURCHASED THE SAME VEHICLE AND HAS HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE GEAR SHIFT. I HAVE OWNED JEEPS SINCE 1995 AND LOVE THEM. HOWEVER, THIS IS OBVIOUSLY AND ENGINEERING ERROR THAT NEEDS TO BE CORRECTED.
VEHICLE ROLLS BACKWARD WHILE SHIFTER IS IN THE PARK POSITION
STOCK HEADLIGHTS ARE VERY DIM, MAKING VISIBILITY POOR. THIS IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. THIS CONDITION SHOULD PROMPT A RECALL. I HAVE NEVER DRIVEN A VEHICLE WHERE VISIBILITY WAS MADE SO POOR AT NIGHT. WHEN TURNING RIGHT, YOU COULD NEVER SEE A PEDESTRIAN IF THEY WERE TO YOUR RIGHT. NOT GOOD!
I WAS DROPPING OFF A DVD RENTAL, I LEFT THE CAR RUNNING AND PUSHED THE 'RETURN TO CENTER' SHIFTER ALL THE WAY UP TO THE STOP LIMIT QUICKLY AND GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE. MY 23 YEAR OLD SON WAS IN THE PASSENGER SEAT AND YELLED OUT "DAD THE CAR IS MOVING" I JUMPED BACK IN PUT MY FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND WATCHED THE SHIFT INDICATOR AS I SLOWLY MOVED THE SHIFTER UP SO IT INDICATED PARK. I HAVE TEST DRIVEN THE JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2016 AND WOULD LIKE THE REDESIGNED SHIFTER PUT IN MY CAR, IT HAS A MECHANICAL FEEL TO IT AND I WAS ABLE TO BE ASSURED THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN THE INTENDED GEAR.
SWITCHES OUT OF GEAR, CAR WILL BE IN PARK AND SWITCH OUT AND MOVE ON ITS OWN. THIS IS THE SECOND TIME THIS HAS HAPPENED, IT ALSO HAPPENED AT THE DEALER WHEN I PURCHASED THE CAR AND HIT ANOTHER CAR. THE DEALER SAID SOMEONE TRY TO STEAL IT, BUT NOW IT HAS HAPPENED AGAIN.
VEHICLE ROLLS FORWARD WHILE IN PARK. SHIFT SELECTOR IS IN PARK AND THE VEHICLE ROLLS. MARKED CRASH DUE TO ONE INSTANCE WHERE IT ROLLED IN TO THE HOUSE DECK. NO DAMAGE TO EITHER VEHICLE OR DECK OTHER THAN MINOR SCRATCHES. THIS HAS HAPPED SEVERAL TIMES AND I HAVE A VIDEO OF THE VEHICLE ROLLING WHILE SHIFT SELECTOR IS IN PARK.
THE ELECTRONIC SHIFTER IS DANGEROUS, I NEVER KNOW WHEN I AM IN PARK, DRIVE, NEUTRAL. IT IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO OPERATE. I HAVE ASKED CHRYSLER TO INSTALL THE REDESIGNED 2016 MODEL IN MY 2015. THE REDESIGNED MODEL OPERATE WELL. I AM NOW CONCERNED FOR THE SAFETY OF MYSELF AND FAMILY MEMBERS. IT WAS PREDICTABLE THAT SOMEONE DIED BECAUSE OF THIS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT AND POORLY DESIGNED ELECTRONIC SHIFTER. NHTSA SHOULD FORCE JEEP/CHRYSLER TO INSTALL THE 2016 REDESIGNED SHIFTER IN ALL 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEES. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THE ANTON YELCHIN DEATH IN LOS ANGELES. I DRIVE ONE OF THESE ELECTRONIC SHIFTERS AND I AM CONFIDENT THAT YOU WILL THAT THIS 2015 ELECTRONIC SHIFTER CAUSED HIS DEATH. IT IS FREIGHTNING TO DRIVE THIS 2015 GRAND CHEROKEE BECAUSE YOU THINK YOU PUT IT IN PARK BUT IT IS REALLY SITTING IN NEUTRAL.
JEEP WAS PURCHASED END OF APRIL 2015, HERE IN THE MIDDLE OF JANUARY 2016 ATTEMPTED TO START THE VEHICLE PARKED IN MY HOME GARAGE AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. AFTER SEVERAL FAILED ATTEMPTS, I EXITED THE VEHICLE AND USED THE REMOTE START FEATURE, THE VEHICLE FINALLY STARTED. NO CLEAR EXPLANATION FOR WHY THE PUSH BUTTON START DID NOT WORK. AFTER MY INITIAL STOP ABOUT 20 MINUTES LATER, WHEN I ATTEMPTED THE PUSH BUTTON START, IT THEN WORKED AGAIN. 16,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. SERVICED THE SELLING DEALERSHIP.
FORWARD COLLISION WARNING (FCW) WITH MITIGATION. 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE IS EQUIPPED FCW SYSTEM. IN SERVICE DATE OF 10/21/15 WITH CURRENT MILAGE JUST OF 5,000. SINCE DELIVERY THE FCW SYSTEM HAS NEVER FLASHED A BRAKE WARNING OR ATTEMPTED TO TO STOP VEHICLE IN WHAT WOULD BE CONSIDERED A PANIC STOP SITUATION. HAVE ADJUSTED TO FAR OR NEAR AND SYSTEM DOES NOTHING. TOOK VEHICLE TO JEEP DEALER ON 1/11/16 FOR DIAGNOSIS AND REPAIR. DEALER RAN COMPUTER DIAGNOSTICS . DEALER DIAGNOSED NO PROBLEM AND TOLD ME TO CALL JEEP BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT HELP ME. I OPENED A CASE WITH JEEP AS TOLD. JEEP HAS TAKEN THE STANCE SINCE THE DEALER FOUND NO COMPUTER ISSUES THEY ARE CORRECT AND THEREFORE THE SYSTEM MUST BE OPERATING PROPERLY. AT WITS END AT THIS POINT. IN TALKING TO OTHER JEEP OWNERS AND LOOKING AT JEEPS OWN PROMOTIONAL VIDEOS THIS SYSTEM SHOULD BE GIVING CONSTANT WARNINGS. NOT ONE WARNING IN 5000 MILES. I AM CONCERNED THAT THE SYSTEM DESIGNED TO HELP MITIGATE DAMAGE AND INJURY WILL NOT WORK IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. THE SYSTEM IS DESIGNED TO NOT TO STOP ACCIDENTS OR TO ALLOW DRIVER TO BE CARELESS, IT IS SUPPOSED TO BACK UP THE DRIVER. I FEEL THAT I AM AT RISK FOR PERSONAL INJURY IF SYSTEM FAILS.
THE ELECTRONIC GEAR SHIFT CAN BE CONFUSING SINCE IT IS EASY TO LOSE TRACK OF THE NUMBER OF 'VIRTUAL' STEPS IT HAS MOVED IN EITHER DIRECTION. THE DASHBOARD DISPLAY CAN BE OBSCURED BY THE STEERING WHEEL SPOKES IF IN A TURNING POSITION SO ONE CAN THINK THE TRANSMISSION IS IN PARK WHILE THE ENGINE IS IDLING AND EXIT THE VEHICLE. BOTTOM LINE YOU HAVE TO BE VERY PROACTIVE ABOUT DETERMINING WHAT STATE THE TRANSMISSION IS IN SINCE THE FEEDBACK BY CLICK / FEEL IS SUBTLE AND THE DASH DISPLAY CAN BE OBSCURED. IN SHORT I AM NOT SURPRISED SOME HAVE BEEN SURPRISED BY THIS TRANSMISSION SHIFT MECHANISM AS I FIND MYSELF OFTEN MOVING THE SHIFT ARM TOO FAR OR NOT ENOUGH. ONE GOOD FEATURE IS NOT BEING ABLE TO SHUT OFF THE ENGINE IF THE TRANSMISSION IS NOT IN "PARK'. SO THAT IS A USEFUL CLUE. BUT THAT STILL ALLOWS THE DISTRACTED DRIVER TO EXIT THE VEHICLE, MOTOR IDLING, AND THE TRANSMISSION NOT IN PARK. I UNDERSTAND THE SHIFT MECHANISM HAS BEEN CHANGED FOR 2016 WHICH MAY BE AN IMPROVEMENT. PERSONALLY, IT SOUNDS TO ME LIKE THEY KNEW THEY HAD A POTENTIAL PROBLEM.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN THE GARAGE WITHOUT THE KEY IN THE IGNITION, IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD INDEPENDENTLY STARTED. THE CONTACT ENTERED THE GARAGE ON TWO OCCASIONS WITHOUT THE KEY FOB IN HIS POCKET AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT RUNNING. THE DOORS WERE LOCKED. THE CONTACT DEPRESSED THE DOOR OPEN BUTTON ON THE FOB, UNLOCKED THE VEHICLE, AND POWERED THE VEHICLE OFF. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 25,550.
MY WIFE AND I HAVE BEEN CONFUSED WITH THE ELECTRONIC SHIFTER ON OUR 2015 GRAND CHEROKEE. THIS ISSUE HAS HAPPENED AT LEAST 7 TIMES WHEN WE THOUGHT THE CAR WAS IN PARK BUT WAS ACTUALLY IN REVERSE OR DRIVE AND ALMOST HAD AN ACCIDENT HITTING OTHER PARKED CARS WHEN LEAVING A PARKING LOT AT A STORE. IT HAS ALSO HAPPENED TO ME IN MY GARAGE MORE THAN A FEW TIMES WHERE I THOUGHT THE CAR WAS IN REVERSE BUT WAS IN DRIVE AND AGAIN ALMOST HIT THE GARAGE WALL. THANK GOD WE NEVER HIT ANYTHING BUT WE ARE VERY NERVOUS ABOUT DRIVING THIS CAR NOW. I HOPE THIS DOESN'T HAPPEN TO ANYONE ELSE AS IT IS VERY NERVE RACKING. THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS ON 1/14/2016.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE DRIVING 20 MPH IN INCLEMENT WEATHER, THE DEFROSTER WAS ACTIVATED BUT FAILED TO COMPLETELY DEFROST THE ENTIRE WINDSHIELD. THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD REMAINED FROZEN. IN ADDITION, THE WINDSHIELD WIPER FROZE ON THE WINDSHIELD AND FAILED TO FUNCTION. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 7,100. UPDATED 03/10/16*LJ
ON JANUARY 12 2016 AT 9AM I WAS PARKING IN AN OFFICE PARKING LOT. AFTER COMING TO A STOP IN THE PARKING SPACE BEHIND A CEMENT CURB AND 2 TO 3 FEET FROM AN OFFICE BUILDING I STARTED MOVE THE GEAR SHIFT FROM "DRIVE" TO "PARK." THE CAR SUDDENLY SURGED FORWARD AT FAST ACCELERATION OVER THE CURB AND INTO THE BUILDING. MY FOOT WAS ON THE BRAKE BUT THE CAR WAS ONLY STOPPED BY THE BRICK BUILDING. THERE WAS CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE TO THE CAR AND BUILDING. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER CORPORATION AND THE CAR WAS TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHERE I HAD PURCHASED IT LESS THAT TWO MONTHS PREVIOUSLY. ON JANUARY 22, 2016 CHRYSLER RESPONDED THEY COMPLETED AN INVESTIGATION AND THAT THEY DID NOT BELIEVE THE ACCIDENT WAS DUE TO A MANUFACTURING RESPONSIBILITY. I REQUESTED A COPY OF THE INVESTIGATION BUT CHRYSLER HAS REFUSED SAYING IT IS CONFIDENTIAL AND THEY HAVE CLOSED THE CASE. THE CAR IS BEING REPAIRED AT THE DEALERSHIP BUT WE DO NOT FEEL IT IS SAFE TO DRIVE UNLESS CHANGES ARE MADE TO THE TRANSMISSION. I HAVE REQUESTED A LETTER FROM CHRYSLER THAT THEY FEEL THE VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE.
THREE TIMES I HAVE EXITED FROM THE VEHICLE AFTER I HAD PUT THE JEEP INTO WHAT I THOUGHT WAS PARK AND THEN HIT THE BUTTON TO SHUT IT OFF, WHEN REALLY IT WAS ONLY IN REVERSE AND THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING WHEN I EXITED THE VEHICLE. SEVERAL OTHER TIMES I HAVE PULLED INTO A PARKING SPOT, PUT IT INTO WHAT I THOUGHT WAS PARK AND THE VEHICLE STARTED MOVING IN REVERSE. WHEN IN A HURRY, IT IS VERY EASY TO PUT THE VEHICLE INTO PARK, THOUGH THE ELECTRONIC SHIFTER ACTUALLY STOPS IN REVERSE. WHEN I HIT THE POWER BUTTON (AND IT IS REALLY IN REVERSE) YOU GET A SINGLE DING, WHICH AGAIN WHEN IN A HURRY I THOUGHT WAS THE CAR TURNED OFF. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED I WAS IN MY GARAGE, WHEN MY FEET HIT THE FLOOR THE VEHICLE STARTED GOING BACKWARDS, THE DRIVER DOOR HIT ME, THOUGH FORTUNATELY DID NOT KNOCK ME DOWN. I WAS ABLE TO JUMP INTO THE SEAT AND STOP THE VEHICLE A SPLIT SECOND BEFORE THE OPEN DRIVER DOOR HIT THE GARAGE DOOR OPENING AND A VEHICLE PARKED IN MY DRIVEWAY. THE OTHER TWO TIMES I EXITED THE VEHICLE WITH IT IN REVERSE AND STILL RUNNING WERE THE SAME EXPERIENCE, BUT THE VEHICLE DID NOT COME NEAR TO HITTING ANYTHING BEFORE I JUMPED INTO THE VEHICLE AND APPLIED THE BRAKES. I DRIVE A LOT OF RENTAL CARS AND SUV'S, I HAVE NEVER HAD AN EXPERIENCE LIKE I HAVE HAD WITH THIS JEEP. I WILL NOT LET MY WIFE DRIVE THE VEHICLE DUE TO SEVERAL TIMES IT HAS NOT GONE INTO PARK.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V240000 (POWER TRAIN); HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE REPAIR WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000. VIN TOOL CONFIRMS PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
I HAVE A 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND IT HAS ROLLED AWAY TWICE IN THE 7 MONTHS THAT I HAVE OWNED IT. THE FIRST TIME HAPPENED WHEN IT WAS DROVE UP ONTO A TOW TRUCK. AFTER GETTING THE VEHICLE ON THE TRUCK THE VEHICLE'S ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF AND PLACED IN PARK BUT THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WAS NOT SET. THE DRIVER GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE AND WAS IN THE PROCESSES OF ATTACHING SAFETY STRAPS WHEN THE VEHICLE MANAGED TO ROLL OFF OF THE TOW TRUCK AND DOWN THE DRIVE WAY. IT SEEMED ODD THAT THIS OCCURRED (WITNESSED BY BOTH MY HUSBAND AND I) AND WE BLEW OFF THE ENTIRE INCIDENT THINKING THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER DID SOMETHING WRONG. THAT WAS UNTIL RECENTLY, WHEN THE SECOND OCCURRENCE HAPPENED. MY JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WAS PARKED ON A SMALL AMOUNT OF ICE/SNOW IN THE DRIVEWAY. PRIOR TO LEAVING THE HOUSE, I WENT TO THE VEHICLE TO PLACE MY 3 MONTH OLD BABY INTO HIS CAR SEAT AND AS I WAS DOING SUCH THE VEHICLE JUST BEGAN TO ROLL. THE VEHICLE MANAGED TO ROLL ABOUT A FOOT AS THE DRIVEWAY HAS NO SLOPE TO IT. THERE WAS NO ONE ELSE IN THE VEHICLE, THE ENGINE WAS NOT ON, AND IT WAS PLACED IN PARK. THERE WERE TWO OTHER PEOPLE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE WHOM ALSO WITNESS THIS EVENT (ONE BEING A MECHANIC) WHICH CAME OVER AND COULD NOT BELIEVE WHAT THEY JUST SAW. AFTER THIS OCCURRED I CONTACTED THE LOCAL JEEP DEALERSHIP'S SERVICE DEPARTMENT AND WAS TOLD THAT I NEEDED TO PLACE THE VEHICLE IN PARK AND IT WOULD NOT ROLL. I EXPLAINED THAT BOTH OCCURRENCES HAPPENED IN PARK THEN SHE INSTRUCTED ME TO GET AN APPOINTMENT AND THEY WOULD LOOK IT OVER. HAVING SAID THAT I SHOULD NOTE, OUR JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WAS PICKED UP FROM THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT ABOUT TWO HOURS PRIOR TO THE SECOND INCIDENT AND A "27 POINT PEACE OF MIND" INSPECTION WAS PERFORMED. WE WILL SEE WHAT COMES OF THE FUTURE APPOINTMENT. I JUST HOPE AND PRAY THAT THIS VEHICLE DOES NOT DO THIS AGAIN, ESPECIALLY WITH MY BABY INSIDE.
CAR GOING FORWARD SLOWLY ....ATTEMPTING TO PARK CAR.... PLACED SHIFT LEVER TOWARDS PARK ,ALL THE WAY FORWARD...PUSHED THE IGNITION BUTTON.(TO SHUT OFF IGNITION). MY JEEP IS ROLLING BACKWARDS WHEN IN PARK, WHEELS TURNED ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT AND EMERGENCY BRAKE ENGAGED. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 10 TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED MY JEEP IN JULY 2015. ON JAN 4TH 2016 IT ROLLED ABOUT 10 - 15 FEET DOWN A DRIVEWAY AND CAME TO A REST IN THE GUTTER. IT HAPPENED AGAIN ON JAN 7, 2015. THE JEEP WAS PARKED ON A SLIGHT INCLINE IN DRIVEWAYS WITH ABOUT 1/4 INCH ON SNOW/SLUSH. THE TIRES ARE STILL LOCKED IN THE RIGHT POSITION BOTH TIMES WHEN IT CAME TO A STOP IN THE GUTTERS. AFTER THE LAST INCIDENT I FOUND A LITTLE DRIVEWAY AND PARKED ON IT. I AGAIN TURNED THE TIRES ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT AND ENGAGED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND I SAT AND WAITED. 7 MINUTES LATER IT STARTED TO SLIDE DOWN THE DRIVEWAY IT SLED ABOUT FOR ABOUT 5 - 8 FEET BEFORE I APPLIED THE BRAKE. THIS INCLINED DRIVEWAYS HAVE BEEN ABOUT 05 -10 FEET INCLINES. I HAVE HAD A 1996 AND 2006 JEEP OVER THE PAST 25 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD A VEHICLE SLIDE FROM A PARKED POSITION OR DOWN A SNOW PACKED HILL. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME TO GET NEW SNOW TIRES. THIS IS VERY SCARY TO ME. IF CHILDREN ARE WALKING TO SCHOOL OR JOGGERS OR A PASSING CAR SOMEONE COULD BE SERIOUSLY HURT OR WORSE. THIS SERIOUS MATTER NEEDS TO BE HANDLED PROMPTLY.

ELECTRONIC GEAR SHIFTER IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, IT TAKES ME TWO OR THREE TRIES TO GET THE JEEP INTO THE CORRECT GEAR EVERY TIME I START THE VEHICLE. FIAT CHRYSLER NEEDS TO RECALL THESE AND FIX THEM IMMEDIATELY.
THE SHIFTER IN THE VEHICLE IS DEFINITELY NOT A GOOD DESIGN. AFTER MONTHS OF OWNING THE JEEP, (DEC 2015) I STILL COULD NOT SAFELY ASSUME I HAD IT IN THE CORRECT GEAR. CAN NOT TRUST WITHOUT LOOKING, AND IN THE SUNLIGHT I'S EXTREMELY DIFFICULT. I THOUGHT SOME OF THE COMPLAINTS EARLY ON WERE PEOPLE WHO PROBABLY SHOULDN'T BE DRIVING BUT AFTER 5 MONTHS, I STILL CANNOT GOT TO A GEAR CORRECTLY 50% OF THE TIME. I CAN DRIVE A STRAIGHT 6 BUT THIS SHIFTER IS HORRIBLE. I'VE HIT REVERSE WHEN ATTEMPTING PARK, NEUTRAL OR BACK TO REVERSE WHEN ATTEMPTING DRIVE. MAKES ME FEEL PRETTY INCOMPETENT BUT MY HUSBAND WHO IS A TRUCK DRIVER HAS PROBLEMS AS WELL.
ON TWO OCCASIONS, THE FIRST TIME WAS WITHIN A COUPLE DAYS OF OWNING THE VEHICIE, I HAVE HAD THE JEEP START REMOTELY IN MY GARAGE DUE TO THE REMOTE KEY TRANSPONDER IN MY POCKET AND THE ATTACHED KEYS ON THE KEY RING DEPRESS THE REMOTE START BUTTON, WHICH REQUIRES TWO PRESSES TO ACTIVATE. I HAVE ALSO HAD THE PANIC BUTTON FEATURE ACTIVATE TWICE FROM THE BUTTONS BEING DEPRESSED IN MY POCKET. SEEMS TO BE A VERY DANGEROUS AND FAULTY KEY FOB DESIGN. DEC 30, 2015 I WAS BROADSIDED BY A VAN IN MY DRIVERS SIDE DOOR CAUSING MY VEHICLE TO ROLL OVER SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE CRASHING HEAD ON INTO A SOUND WALL. I WAS PINNED IN THE VEHICLE UPSIDE DOWN WITH MY RIGHT LEG PINNED UP UNDER THE DASH. I THOUGHT THE CAR WAS SAFELY PARKED AS I OPENED THE ELECTRIC HOUSE GATE AND EXITED THE CAR. I WANTED TO ENTER THE GATE FIRST, SO THAT I COULD SECURE THE DOGS. ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE CAR STARTS ROLLING DOWN THE DRIVEWAY. I TRY TO JUMP INTO THE CAR TO TRY TO STOP THE CAR, ONLY TO BE PINNED AGAINST THE DOOR AND THE CLOSING ELECTRIC GATE, I FALL. I GET BACK UP AGAIN TO TRY TO STOP THE CAR, AND I FALL AGAIN. THE CAR ENDS UP ROLLING DOWN THE DRIVEWAY AND ALMOST FULLY TIPPING OVER THE DRIVEWAY WALL. THE DRIVEWAY IS AN ELEVATED DRIVEWAY, THE CAR JUMPED OVER THE 4FT WALL. AS YOU CAN IMAGINE, TWO WRECKERS WERE NEEDED TO SHIMMY THE CAR OFF THE DRIVEWAY WALL. ACCIDENT FREE RECORD FOR +20 YEARS. RANDOM "KEY FOB HAS LEFT THE VEHICLE" MESSAGE THIS HAPPENED THREE TIMES TODAY. ALL THREE WERE WITH THE FOB IN MY POCKET AS I SAT IN THE DRIVER'S SEAT, WITH THE SECOND FOB AT HOME ON MY DESK (MILES AWAY). FIRST INSTANCE, MY HUSBAND GOT OUT OF THE CAR AND WHEN THE DOOR CLOSED I GOT AN AUDIBLE WARNING AND THE "KEY FOB HAS LEFT THE VEHICLE" MESSAGE WITH A PICTURE OF THE FOB SHOWN IN THE EVIC. BEFORE SHOUTING TO BRING THE KEY BACK I CHECKED MY POCKET AND THE FOB WAS THERE. THE MESSAGE DISAPPEARED WHEN HE RETURNED TO THE VEHICLE, BUT WE CONFIRMED THAT HE DEFINITELY DID NOT HAVE A KEY FOB ON HIM. SECOND INSTANCE, THE SAME THING HAPPENED A FEW MINUTES LATER WHEN WE DROPPED MY DAUGHTER OFF AT SCHOOL. AS SHE EXITED THE VEHICLE, THE "KEY FOB HAS LEFT THE VEHICLE" AND CHIME BEGAN. WE ASKED HER TO RETURN TO THE VEHICLE ALTHOUGH SHE DEFINITELY DID NOT HAVE A KEY FOB, BUT THE CHIME WOULD NOT GO OFF. I ENDED UP TURNING OFF THE VEHICLE AND TURNING IT BACK ON AND THE MESSAGE AND CHIME DISAPPEARED. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER STEERING WHILE DRIVING 15 MPH. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. UPON INSPECTION OF THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT STEERING FLUID LEAKED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOISED THAT THE POWER STEERING HOSE HAD A DEFECTIVE CLAMP THAT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFCATURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 500. THE VIN WAS NOT PROVIDED.
I BOUGHT A NEW JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE AND THE TRANSMISSION WENT OUT ON THE CAR GOING DOWN A MOUNTAIN! THANK GOD FOR BRAKES AS THERE WAS NO CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. THE DEALERSHIP REPLACED THE CAR WITH ONE THAT IS IDENTICAL. IT IS BRAND NEW AND I HAVE HAD IT FOR 3 WEEKS AND IT IS DOING THE EXACT SAME THING AS THE OTHER ONE. IT GETS STUCK IN GEARS. ENGINE STALLS AND REVS UP WHEN CHANGING GEARS! I FEAR FOR MY LIFE IN THIS VEHICLE. ALSO, WATER POURS FROM THE BASE OF THE EXHAUST PIPES. NOT FROM THE TIPS.. IT UNREAL HOW MUCH WATER POURS OUT OF THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE!! THIS IS A BAD SERIOUSLY GRAVE SITUATION! I CALLED FLETCHER DODGE JEEP IN SHERWOOD ARKANSAS WHERE I BOUGHT THE CAR AND THEY TOLD ME THAT I NEEDED TO DRIVE IT 2.5 HOURS TO THEM SO THEY CAN SEE IF A SHIFT RELEARN WOULD WORK OR IF THIS CAR WILL BE A LEMON TOO!! THEY SAID THE RELEARN ONLY WORKS ON SOME OF THE VEHICLES!!! PLEASE HALT CHRYSLER FROM THE PRODUCTION OF 8 SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION AS THEY DO NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX THEM AND THEY ARE GOING TO START KILLING PEOPLE!
