After a very long road trip, I noticed that the rear wheel well liners had come in contact with the rear tires. The contact was severe enough and prolonged enough to wear down the edge of the tires to the cords. Once I noticed the damage, I stopped driving the vehicle until I could get new tires. I do not have the tires but I took pictures and the wheel well liners still have a hole in them. Had I not noticed the damage, a catastrophic failure of the tire could have resulted with unknow consequences to myself or those driving near me. The wheel well liners did not come loose or detached from the vehicle. They somehow flexed forward and made contact with the tire. The tire/wheel did not flex or move rearward. This would have required major damage to the suspension of the vehicle and the vehicle would have been undrivable. My assumption is that with the very wet road conditions, the wheel well liners became very flexible but not enough to contact the tires. At highway speeds, due to the air flow around the vehicle, it appears that the lower quarter panels flexed inwards. This allowed the now flexible wheel well liner to flex forward, due to air pressure behind the wheel well liner, and make contact with the tire. Tire tires involved are not the stock make and model but were the stock size. I will be adding a small aluminum strip to the bottom of the wheel well liner to prevent this from happening in the future.
I have 34,000 miles on my keep I am the original owner and my tires have been rotated every 5,000 miles. The tread is cracking on every tire. Tire size is 265/59/20 Fortera hl. I called Goodyear and they will do nothing they say rotting is only warranted for 4 years. How can that be? It’s a 60,000 mile tire. I brought it to Goodyear in Jericho N.Y and was told by Sean there is nothing he could do. I was also in touch with Pamela Pringle from customer support and she never got back to me. It is unsafe to drive on those tires and Goodyear should replace them.

WE PURCHASED 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE IN 2016 APPROXIMATELY 2.5 YEARS LATER WE ATTEMPTED TO GET NEW TIRES PUT ON. WE WENT TO TIRE STORE & THEY STATED THAT THE LUG NUTS WERE DEFECTIVE.. THEY STATED THAT THE LUG NUTS WERE SWOLLEN AND IF THEY WERE TO FORCE THE LUG NUTS OFF IT WOULD RENDER THE VEHICLE INOPERABLE. AS WE HAD A LENGTHY ROAD TRIP PLANNED, WE WERE FORCED TO GO TO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP. BOTH THE INITIAL SERVICE WRITER, ANDREW, AND LATER THE SERVICE MANAGER, JOHN WILSON, AGREED THE LUG NUTS WERE DEFECTIVE. BUT THEY STATED IT WAS 'FCA''S FAULT AND GAVE ME A PHONE NUMBER OF 1-877-224-5356 I CALLED FCA SAID THEY WOULD DO NOTHING ABOUT THIS SINCE THERE IS NO RECALL. I FEEL THAT WE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED IF WE WOULD HAVE GOTTEN A FLAT TIRE IN THE WRONG NEIGHBORHOOD AS WE WOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ABLE TO PUT THE SPARE TIRE ON AND THE VEHICLE WOULD HAVE BEEN INOPERABLE. WE WERE CHARGED US $311.19 AND REFUSES TO GIVE US ANY RELIEF. THE SERVICE MANAGER OFFERED AN OIL CHANGE BUT THEY ARE 45 MINUTES AWAY FROM OUR HOME AND IT IS NOT PRACTICAL FOR US TO DO THIS. I AM HAPPY THAT WE DECIDED TO GET TIRES BEFORE WE LEFT SINCE THE STORY MAY HAVE BEEN VERY DIFFERENT HAD WE HAD ANY ISSUES ON THIS TRIP AS OUR SAFETY MAY HAVE BEEN JEOPARDIZED. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP YOU CAN PROVIDE US AS WE ARE AFRAID THAT THEY LIKELY PUT DEFECTIVE REPLACEMENT LUG NUTS BACK ON. THE LUG NUTS SWELL UP AND SPLIT APART WHEN THEY ARE BEING TAKEN OFF OF THE TIRES RENDERING VEHICLES INOPERABLE. MY HUSBAND STATED HE SAW ON LINE THAT FORD HAD A RECALL DUE TO DEFECTIVE LUG NUTS ON THEIR SUV'S AND I FEEL THAT JEEP SHOULD BE REQUIRED TO DO THE SAME. I FEEL THAT WE SHOULD BE GIVEN A FULL REFUND OF THE $311.19 WE WERE CHARGED AND THEY SHOULD ALSO BE REQUIRED TO PUT PROPER LUG NUTS ON ALL OF THEIR VEHICLES AFFECTED BY THIS DEFECTIVE PRODUCT. WHEEL CRACKED AT WELD JOINT AND PROPAGATED AROUND THE WHOLE WHEEL ON A JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE 2015
NHTSA: I HAVE BEEN IN AND AROUND THE TIRE BUSINESS MOST OF MY LIFE IN 2015 I PURCHASED A JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE WITH 20' WHEELS AND TIRES. IN DECEMBER OF 2017 I LITERALLY GOT BLOWN OFF THE ROAD INTO A DITCH SEVERELY DAMAGING MY VEHICLE. I BELIEVE THERE SHOULD BE A CERTAIN PRESSURE PER SQUARE INCH FACTOR ON WIDE TIRES AS MINE OBVIOUSLY DID NOT KEEP ME ON THE ROAD AND THEY WERE HEAVILY SIPED WINTER RATED TIRES. I RECENTLY REPLACED THEM WITH AN OVERSIZE TIRE WITH A HIGH VOID TO RUBBER RATIO THAT PUTS MORE PRESSURE PER SQUARE INCH ON THE TREAD. I ALSO EXPERIENCED HYDROPLANING IN SLUSH DURING THE WINTER. SIMPLY TO ADVOCATE FOR KEEPING QUALITY TIRES TO STAY SAFE IS NOT ENOUGH. ONE OF THE BIGGEST HOAXES UPON THE AMERICAN PEOPLE IS AL ALL SEASON TIRE. I BOUGHT A GRAND CHEROKEE LIMITED WITH MICHELIN LATITUDE TOUR TIRES ON IT. AT 24,900 MILES I NOTICED A BULGE IN ONE TIRE UPON INSPECTION OF THE OTHER TIRES I HAD ANOTHER TIRE WITH A BULGE IN IT. THE VIN OF THE VEHICLE IS [XXX] THE DOT OF THE TIRES ARE AP5E 00BX 3814. I CARRIED IT TO THE JEEP DEALER AND THEY SENT ME TO A MICHELIN DEALER. THE PERSON AT THE MICHELIN JUST LOOKED AT THE TIRE AND SAID IT WAS A IMPACT BULGE AND THAT MICHELIN WOULD NOT COVER THAT ON WARRANTY. I TOOK IT TO ANOTHER MICHELIN DEALER AND HE SAID HE WOULD HAVE TO TAKE THE TIRE OFF THE RIM TO DETERMINE THE PROBLEM. I CONTACTED MICHELIN AND THEY WERE WILLING TO HELP OUT ON THE TIRES WHETHER IT WAS UNDER WARRANTY OR NOT. THAT TELLS ME THEY KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE TIRES AND THEY WANT TO KEEP IT QUITE BY TRYING TO SATISFY THE CUSTOMER SO THEY DON'T REPORT THEM. I DO NOT FEEL SAFE DRIVING THE VEHICLE WITH THESE TIRES. I WILL NOT PUT MY LIFE OR MY WIFE'S LIFE IN DANGER BECAUSE OF THESE TIRES. THESE TIRES WILL BLOW IT IS JUST A MATTER OF TIME. I WORKED IN A TIRE FACTORY FOR 25 YEARS AND I HAVE NEVER SEEN AN IMPACT BULGE. I HAVE CUT UP AND ANALYZED THOUSANDS OF TIRES AND NO IMPACT CAUSED THESE BULGES. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE RADIATOR LEAKED A REDDISH COLOR FLUID ONTO THE GROUND. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE RADIATOR AND HOSE RUPTURED. THE RADIATOR WAS REPLACED. IN ADDITION, THE FRONT DRIVER AND PASSENGER SIDE BLACK WHEEL TRIM DETACHED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS BEING DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER, BUT WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 5,000.
OUR DAUGHTER BOUGHT A 2015 JEEP GRAND CHEROKEE APPROXIMATELY SIX MONTHS AGO. HER "DREAM CAR". TWO WEEKS AGO, WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM LOS ANGELES, HER REAR TIRE BLEW OUT, CAUSING HER TO SPIN OUT ON THE FREEWAY, GETTING CLIPPED BY A BIG RIG AND TOSSED INTO THE CARPOOL LANE, FACING ONCOMING TRAFFIC. SHE WAS SOMEHOW ABLE TO GET TO THE SHOULDER OF THE ROAD WITHOUT INVOLVING OTHER VEHICLES. SHE WAS BY ONLY A MIRACLE, MOSTLY UNHARMED. THIS IS A NEW CAR. THE TIRES ARE MICHELIN. WE ARE EXTREMELY UNHAPPY WITH WHAT HAPPENED, BUT OBVIOUSLY, EXTREMELY GRATEFUL SHE IS ALIVE!
MY JEEP IS ROLLING BACKWARDS WHEN IN PARK, WHEELS TURNED ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT AND EMERGENCY BRAKE ENGAGED. THIS HAS HAPPENED ABOUT 10 TIMES SINCE I PURCHASED MY JEEP IN JULY 2015. ON JAN 4TH 2016 IT ROLLED ABOUT 10 - 15 FEET DOWN A DRIVEWAY AND CAME TO A REST IN THE GUTTER. IT HAPPENED AGAIN ON JAN 7, 2015. THE JEEP WAS PARKED ON A SLIGHT INCLINE IN DRIVEWAYS WITH ABOUT 1/4 INCH ON SNOW/SLUSH. THE TIRES ARE STILL LOCKED IN THE RIGHT POSITION BOTH TIMES WHEN IT CAME TO A STOP IN THE GUTTERS. AFTER THE LAST INCIDENT I FOUND A LITTLE DRIVEWAY AND PARKED ON IT. I AGAIN TURNED THE TIRES ALL THE WAY TO THE RIGHT AND ENGAGED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE AND I SAT AND WAITED. 7 MINUTES LATER IT STARTED TO SLIDE DOWN THE DRIVEWAY IT SLED ABOUT FOR ABOUT 5 - 8 FEET BEFORE I APPLIED THE BRAKE. THIS INCLINED DRIVEWAYS HAVE BEEN ABOUT 05 -10 FEET INCLINES. I HAVE HAD A 1996 AND 2006 JEEP OVER THE PAST 25 YEARS AND HAVE NEVER HAD A VEHICLE SLIDE FROM A PARKED POSITION OR DOWN A SNOW PACKED HILL. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME TO GET NEW SNOW TIRES. THIS IS VERY SCARY TO ME. IF CHILDREN ARE WALKING TO SCHOOL OR JOGGERS OR A PASSING CAR SOMEONE COULD BE SERIOUSLY HURT OR WORSE. THIS SERIOUS MATTER NEEDS TO BE HANDLED PROMPTLY.
