Electronic stability control, check engine and ABS lights are all on. This effects not only my ESC- I have gone out of control multiple times in bad weather, but because of this the cruise control and the automatic starter on my vehicle do not work either. I live in northern VT where winters are tough. ESC needs to be working properly to prevent potential for crash. I have come close several times this winter to going out of control. Also very annoying that the convenience items do not work. Lastly- these lights have been showing on the dash since last summer. I wanted to trade the vehicle in about this time and still do for a different vehicle but can not because of the dash being lit up. This is causing significant financial impact on my household as the vehicle is depreciating day by day and I would certainly not get what its worth with a dashboard full of mechanic error lights.
There is something wrong with the front suspension of my 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. At highway speeds there is noise and vibration which is felt through the steering wheel and brake pedal. At lower speed, on city streets, you can feel / hear a noise when turning and the steering will pull hard to the left you have to quickly turn to the right to get the car going straight again. There seems to be something loose in the suspension which shifts out of place. I have taken it to the Jeep dealer several times and they say they do not find anything, they will balance and align the suspension but this did not fix the problem . The last time they blamed the tires, which had 55K miles, so I replaced the tires and still have the problem. This is a very dangerous situation, if it occurred in heavy traffic it would could cause the car to lurch into the oncoming lane of traffic and cause a head-on collision.
Jeep starting making a light ticking sound, like it's low on oil. That wasn't the case. Took in for a tuneup, hoping that would take care of it. It didn't. Took into dealer and the camshaft, rods had been chewed up to a faulty part inside the engine. I didn't have my vehicle for two months due to waiting on warranty company. When reached out to Jeep groups, learned this is s COMMON problem. Concerned my engine could have frozen up while driving. NO warning lights or any other symptom! If my parents hadn't taught me how to listen to vehicles, it could have been very bad turnout. This cost me almost $4k. This should be investigated!!
The touchscreen in the car which has controls for the radio, navigation, phone and other features in delaminating and causing the screen to change buttons, features while driving. The screen gets stuck or shuts off while driving causing a safety issue while driving.
My jeep has a screen on the dashboard that controls the radio, navigation, and settings for the vehicle (i.e. the main "navigation screen"). All of the safety and advanced driver assistance systems are controlled through this screen and user interface. There is no other way to control/adjust these systems. There is a widespread issue with the late generation WK2 Jeep Grand Cherokees where the screen delaminates, rendering the entire screen and user interface non-functional. This results in a safety issue where multiple systems (including the ADAS) cannot be cannot be adjusted or used. I reached out to Jeep/Chrysler/Stellantis for assistance in repairing/replacing the screen. The denied a claim to repair or replace the screen. I do not feel safe operating a vehicle where I cannot control or adjust critical operations of the car. I believe this widespread issue of screen delamination should be considered for a recall.
I received a letter in the mail that my Jeep had a recall for some type of sensor that affects the brakes and brake lights. I’ve read that a malfunction in this sensor can cause my brake to not work and can cause me to crash into someone or something. The fact that this issue hasn’t been resolved yet is beyond me. This recall came out in 2022. It had been 2 years. What’s going happen when a mother is driving her family around in her Jeep that also has this recall on it, she switched the brake on but it doesn’t brake and she and her family crash into someone. Life’s are at risk here. I am planning to start a family within the next year and I will be getting rid of this car because I will not trust my family in it.
The screen on my information center is delaminating. Took the vehicle to the dealership for extended warranty service and was told this was not covered under warranty. When this is a known issue not sure why the manufacture is not covering this claim.
While driving 65 mph on the highway, the jeep lost all acceleration. I was able to get to the shoulder and the car said to put it in park. I did and then was unable to shift to any other mode. The brake pedal was hard as a rock and would not move. The air then turned hot. When I turned the vehicle off and back on - everything seemed fine but losing power on a major highway was extremely dangerous. No warning lights or messages. No other symptoms prior to this instance. Car is currently at independent service center and they cannot determine what is wrong.
uconnect display has air bubbles forming on top left and top right corners. Both bubbles run down the side of the display.
Fuel pump failed while in route. No check engine light or warning came on before. All systems of the vehicle shut down. Entire family was put in severe danger as the vehicle shut down on the highway. The vehicle was towed to a dealership in which they diagnosed that the fuel pump had failed.
uconnect display has air bubbles forming on top left and top right corners. Both bubbles run down the side of the display. We own two of the same Grand Cherokees and both exhibit the same failure.
The steering is compromized. The wheel pulls or "locks up" and is not smooth when attempting to steer the vehicle into traffic or from lane to lane on the highway. I looked up any recalls and there is a recall for the steering rack for similar jeeps but not my speciifc VIN number. I took the car in for service. Certified mechanic checked the tires, the alignment, the shocks, etc. and determined the car needs a new steering rack. The car has 62000 miles and is one week past the 5 year ownership period and is in excellent condiiton. I called Jeep customer service and they directed me to contact your office and report the issue as you have hte ability to create a recall. Please contact to dicuss further or so that I cna answer specific questions you may have.
Today after I parked my 2019 jeep grand Cherokee and locked it I noticed my brake lights stayed illuminated. I got back in my car and confirmed that I was in park and my parking brake was on and my brake pedal did not feel stuck down in any way. I also tried turning my headlamps from auto to off. That didn’t resolve my brake light issue. I restarted it and put it in gear and drove a little and my fiancé confirmed from outside the car that even when in drive and moving without my foot on brake my brake lights stayed on. I got out and locked it again and then tried my remote start which did not function. I then decided to try drive around a little more and see if it would reset itself. Nothing changed with driving. Then after driving around I tried turning off my park sense button and the brake light went off and back to normal. Once i was parked again I retried the remote start and it worked. When I looked up this issue it sounded like symptoms of recall z48 which was repaired June 29, 2022 by my dealer. Tomorrow I will see if it happens again and if it will start and shift without brake pedal pressed as that is also related to recall z48. Could the repair for recall z48 have failed or was not done properly by my dealer? Just for reference my jeep only has 11,000 miles on it.
My radio is delaminating. This vehicle is 4 1/2 years old and already delaminating. I noticed a slight delaminating last year now it’s getting worse.
My display screen is glitchy. Sometimes it does not show The back up camera. Other times even while driving down the road it shows my back up camera when I’m traveling forward.
The headrest blow apart while driving.
The contact owned a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact received NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V426000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle directly in front stalled inadvertently causing the contact to abruptly depress the brake pedal. The contact stated while depressing the brake pedal, it failed to function causing the contact to crash with the vehicle in front. The vehicle was occupied by the contact and her son. The air bags deployed causing injury to both arms, right shoulder, and legs to the contact as well as causing her son emotional PTSD. The contact received medical attention via an Emergency Room. The contact stated the front driver-side door as well as the steering wheel were punctured. No injuries were reported for the other driver however their rear driver-side bumper was dented. A Police report was filed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 36,000.
Uconnect screen is delaminated. Vehicle features change by themselves. Advanced electronic systems are connected through the system. Horn, lights on off by themselves
Car makes loud humming noise when accelerating and safety break go off for no reason when backing up or parking . I try put gas’s but it doesn’t let me keep the nozzle in . Gas’s light always going off
I was driving my Jeep on Sunday, [XXX] and the service airbag system light kept coming on periodically. When I took it to Szott dealership Service center in White Lake, Michigan. On my drive to the dealership the light never popped on. The service guy said it looked like it was the wiring under the driver's seat. I had to wait for a diagnostic tech to check it out. The tech confirmed it was a wiring issue under the driver's seat. The dealership said it is NOT covered under my extended warranty and it will cost $679 to repair. I realize I need to repair for safety issues. My question is an airbag is important safety feature and Jeep should be responsible and stand behind their product to ensure safety for their customers so, why should I have to pay out of pocket to repair a safety feature that should be functioning properly? I store my jeep in a garage. I have not been in an accident or in a flood...so why am I liable when it is a defective part or wiring? While at the dealer to have a lightbulb changed, I was told that I needed to have my oil adapter changed. My jeep only has 33,750 miles on it and has only been serviced by the jeep dealer. While I was there there were 2 other jeeps in with the same problem. Also, my brother-in-law's brother (who lives in another state) also had to have his oil adapter replaced on his jeep grand cherokee. Does jeep have a defective part installed in the grand cherokees? If not, I find it odd that so many people (that I do not know personally) have had to have the same part replaced on their jeep grand cherokees.
The touch screen dash display has become delaminated and sometimes does not turn on when the vehicle is shifted in reverse. Thus, it's difficult to see if a child or pedestrian is behind the vehicle when placed in reverse on the dash screen. This poses a serious Safety issue and I have read on several forms that this occurs just after 3-4 years of use and is a common problem.
The screen is delaminating. It will on its own changes settings, stations, etc. Dealership confirmed ongoing issue with these radio screens. It could disable SOS features and vehicle information, such as; fluid temps, suspension angles, and other necessities needed for safety and proper operation. Warning lights will also show up in the dash due to safety items potentially being disabled due to screen changing things by itself.
Windshield leaks during rain season leaving driver seat mat damp
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed, and the brake warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed with brake pressure failure on the braking system. The contact was informed that the software was misreading, and a software update was needed. The vehicle was repaired. The failure reoccurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and diagnosed with a failed hydraulic unit. The contact was informed that the hydraulic unit needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The dealer advised the contact that the ABS module might also need to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to report the failure to the NHTSA Hotline. The failure mileage was approximately 45,000.
The radio screen is deplaning
ISSUE: While in a left hand turn the steering wheel will stick and not return on it's own! My vehicle began having the following issue randomly in July of 2023 while in a gradual left turn onto the entrance ramp of the interstate. The steering wheel did not return on it's own and felt stuck. I had to give the steering wheel a slight tug to recover control. As of November 2023 the issue has become more evident in left hand turns! I initially looked for recall issues on the Jeep recall but non avail. The other day while on a short trip, the vehicle began to act squirrely while in lefthand curves and while making lefthand turns more frequently. I began researching the internet and quickly became aware that this seems to be an issue with this particular make, model and year. Upon further reading on different forums and finally the NHTSA page, I looks like dealers have pin pointed the cause to the failure of the rack and pinion assembly failure. On November 27th I contacted my local dealership for service. Initially I was told that there were no recalls reported on the vehcle. I then proceeded to explain the issues in detail and my research with the results on The NHTSA site. A service appointment has been made and I was asked to bring all supported documentation.
Our 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee started to exhibit the following conditions: brake lights remained ON, ESC failure, AutoPark Failure, Cruise Control failure, vehicle started without depressing the brake pedal. I researched possible recalls and found Z48 for HCU/ABS module failures. Our vehicle was in the recalled build dates. We took it to Palace Chrysler Jeep Ram Inc. in Lake Orion, MI for repair. They "reflashed" the software, cleared the fault codes and returned the vehicle to us. In 3 key cycles, the failures returned. We took the car back to the dealership. They stated that the reflash wasn't done correctly. (blamed machine error) Reset the fault codes and in 3-5 key cycles the problem returned. Now on the third try, the dealership replaced the HCU/ABS module and charged us $1,100 for the repair. We requested reimbursement from Stellantis and have been denied 3 times. This is completely unacceptable since the Recall Z48 is for this exact problem. Also, it proves that their SW reflash doesn't fix the problem in some vehicles. We want Stellantis to reimburse us for this repair.
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while pulling into a parking space and pressing the brake pedal the braking system malfunctioned causing and the vehicle accelerated forward and crashed into two parked vehicles. No injuries were reported. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed to the home. The vehicle was later towed to the local dealer was unable to diagnosed a failure had occurred. Later, while the daughter was driving at highway speeds the failure reoccurred and the vehicle would not accelerate and the braking system malfunctioned. The vehicle was steered to the side of the road and rolled to a stop. After switching the transmission back to the drive position the vehicle operated as normal and was driven to the home. The vehicle was later towed to the dealer. The cause of the failures were not yet determined. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failures. The failure mileage was 40,000.
Uconnect Screen delaminated causing the screen and radio to go bad. I have no phone connectivity, no radio, no use of navigation or climate control.
The ABS module and ESC system malfunctioned. A message stating “Service Electronic Stability Control” appeared on the dashboard. The component is still installed in the vehicle and is available for inspection upon request. The ESC warning indicates that the system may be disabled, which could compromise the vehicle’s stability and braking performance—especially in emergency or poor weather conditions. I do not feel safe driving the vehicle, as the malfunction may affect the ability to stop or control the vehicle properly, increasing the risk of an accident. I contacted the dealership and an independent mechanic and they confirmed the issue is related to Recall Z48. However, they also stated that no repair or remedy is currently available. The “Service Electronic Stability Control” message appeared on the dashboard. This was the first noticeable symptom, and it started about 2-3 years ago. Also, my check engine light is on all the time. I cannot remote start. I few times, I’ve had issues with the brakes and my jeep not starting.
In the cold weather, usually under 40degrees, sensors come on alerting me that stablisation is disabled, auto start/stop is disabled, check engine light comes on, parking brake illuminates and does not turn off while driving, cruise control does not work, radio information cluster intermittently works etc. It's seems to be all electrical. I have taken it to the dealership several times and they can't figure out what the issue is. At first they said the auxiliary battery was bad and I paid over $400 for a new battery and still have the same issues.
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while reversing, the rear driver's side wheel made an abnormal grinding sound. The vehicle was taken an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the brake shoes were loosened and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 39,900.
Hello, I own a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee still under warranty and in the last few months have noticed the display screen starting to delaminate, it has become an eyesore but it does not bother me. What does bother me is what happens as the display screen delaminates. The glue melts, and leaks onto wiring of all the components under the screen including the AC, all the parking sensors/rear sensors, and traction control, causing them to short out. Shortly after my screen started to delaminate I noticed a notification on my dash telling me that my rear sensors were no longer accessible. Since then I have had multiple cars in my blind spot that I could not see that posed the potentially threat of a terrible accident. After noticing this I went online to see if anyone else was having this problem and as soon as I clicked search, thousands upon thousands of reviews and message boards full of people having the exact same issue I am having came up. This is not only a problem with the 2019 it is also a problem with previous Jeep Grand Cherokee models and models after 2019, ex:'20, '21, '22. Jeep obviously knows that there is a flaw in their display screens because of all of the online commotion about it, but what I don't think they know is that this one problem causes many more problems due to the glue leakage onto other wiring underneath the display screen. With the amount of crucial wiring and electrical systems that newer model cars rely on, I feel that this is a huge safety concern not only for myself but for the hundreds of thousands of Jeep Grand Cherokee owners in the US. All it would take is a few drops of glue from the display screen to leak on a crucial component underneath the display screen shorting out the sensors to cause a horrific accident for drivers that have become use to their blind spot sensors and rely on them for safety. Please help us notify Jeep about this concerning issue so they can recall the screen and potentially save lives. Thank you so much!
5.7 hemi exhaust manifold heat shield bolt break off because the manifold warps with heat. This can cause the manifold to leak after a while. And make a nocking nose the dealer said it a know problem and flew with the 5.7hemi between 70000 to 100000
The 8.4 uconnect back up camera isn't working properly in my 2019 Grand Cherokee. I've spoken with several Jeep mechanics and they all say it's a faulty software issue with all of the 8.4 units.. There is a recall but Jeep dealers refuse to reinstall the faulty software.. Instead they want to replace the whole unit for 2000 dollars.. Everybody knows about this problem but nothing is being done
The radio screen starting developing bubbles on each side. After speaking to several dealers by phone they are telling me this is very common with this yr vehicle that the screen is delaminating and Jeep will not cover this. For my concern how and who do I contact? Beings this system controls the heated seats is this eventually at some point going to stop working? Each time I turn on these seats I am concerned the heat will not shut off and if traveling a distance I do not want to get burnt. Could you please help/assist as I do have a friend that was burnt from a heated car seat. Thank you.
The radio in the car, which controls the whole car, started dialing people out of the blue, over and over again. I finally had to pull over and disconnect my phone from the system. This could have called an accident as the repeated dialing caused me to take my eyes and concentration off of the road. No doubt I was a distracted driver at this time - due to what they call "system bubble". Jeep/Stellantis knows of the problem but they refuse to correct this problem that causes drivers to become distracted. They need to fix the problem ASAP before someone gets killed on count of this. Further more, I now have to take my eyes from the road to my phone because I can't use the system to use the handsfree system. This is a violation of the State of Alabama law. We can no longer have our phones in our hands, while driving a car.
While driving, my 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo began smelling like burnt plastic, then a red warning triangle came on in the speedometer saying, ‘stop safely vehicle shut off soon’. At the same time, the engine warning light, battery warning light, and skid warning lights came on. I pulled over and when the car was examined the red plastic housing around the terminal that can be used to jumpstart the battery had melted. The vehicle is being towed to the dealer for a repair.
Driving 35-45 mph, heard a loud pop from the top of the vehicle. The glass from the sun roof popped and shattered. It put myself at risk because if the shade slide, that separates the inside of the car and the sunroof glass, was pulled back, the glass would have came in & injured everyone in the car. It also puts others near the vehicle at risk as the glass could have hit someone or another vehicle. The problem has not been confirmed by a dealer yet. The the vehicle has not been inspected yet. No warning signs prior to the incident.
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the air bag warning light erroneously illuminated and remained illuminated for more than two weeks. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact stated that the VIN was not under recall. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 50,000.
With just under 40,000 miles on the vehicle, first the front passenger seat belt started to fail to retract, then a few months later the front driver side seat belt began to do the same thing. The dealer says they are out of warranty so it's my dime to fix. I wouldn't be concerned except that this is a huge safety issue, if the belt doesn't retract correctly when put on, it would fail to hold me or my passenger in place during an accident.
The u connect screen laminating is bubbling, causing blurry screen and effects all vehicle's controls while driving. Read about this being a common problem with these screens but not yet warranted by Jeep. Seems to be getting worse and can cause major distractions while driving, especially while using GPS. Vehicle hasn't been inspected as of yet. Just mainly inquiring about any others having same issues being reported.
Radio screen delimitation screen is affected touch screen functions don't work makes random phone calls volume jumps up & down.
Radio/screen delimitation. Known issue by Jeep for years now; obvious safety issue, when the screen starts doing phantom touches it is very distracting to the driver. Also, as the glue melts, it leaks onto the wiring of all the components under the screen including the AC, all the parking sensor and traction control off controls. Phantom phone calls/cannot turn on/off heat. Radio does not just power “ radio”. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE!
Uconnect screen with radio/nav/driver controls is delaminating, causing screens to change and overriding all driver selections. Safety issue. Multiple complaints on Jeep forum and class action lawsuit in 2022 which has been closed due to overwhelming number of complaints. It’s a well known issue with FCA but they refuse to issue recall. Backup camera freezing and hand free difficult to use. Distracting and unsafe. FCA NEEDS TO ISSUE RECALL!
The Water Pump of my vehicle was leaking from the weld of the engine causing anti-freeze to leak. This caused an issue with possible overheating since it was not leaking from the weep-hole. It could have gone unnoticed and i would like to know if there is a recall for this issue.
While in Drive, accelerating from a complete stop the car will lag as if the engine is going to shut off. Additionally, the car will be at a stop and driver will attempt to accelerate and car will not recognize it is in Drive. The car will notify the driver on the dash to shift the car into Park.
Hello, The Z48 recall for my vehicle has been completed by the manufacturer back on 5/1/23. They have failed to notify NHTSA that the recall has been completed so it keeps showing up as incomplete. I keep getting notices in the mail that the recall is still pending. I have been back and forth with dealer, mopar, and the manufacturer with no resolution to this issue. Please see attached invoice with proof that this recall has been completed. I was hoping this open action could be closed on your database. Thanks, [XXX] INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
The contact owns a 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the driver's side and the passenger’s side front seat belts were no longer retracting. The contact stated that the seat belts often got caught in the door while exiting the vehicle. The contact had been working with a dealer for two years to have the seat belts replaced. The contact stated that the dealer had finally replaced the driver’s and passenger’s side front seat belts. The contact had researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V716000 (Seat Belts), and the contact was informed by the manufacturer and the dealer that the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.
