MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING WHEN HER BACK WINDOW FELL DOWN AND SCARED HER. SHE IS 16 YEARS OLD AND NOT VERY COMFORTABLE WITH DRIVING ANYWAY. SHE WAS ABLE TO PULL TO SIDE OF THE ROAD. SINCE THIS TIME ANOTHER WINDOW HAS FELL DOWN. WE JUST PURCHASED THIS CAR FOR HER AND AM REGRETTING IT NOW. I HAVE READ SO MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT THESE WINDOWS AND THERE HAS BEEN NO RECALL. I AM SO SURPRISED!!! WE DON'T HAVE MONEY TO THROW AWAY!! *TR
THE SUNROOF STOPPED CLOSING ALL THE WAY. BITS OF PLASTIC STARTED FALLING OUT. IT WAS STUCK OPEN FOR OVER A YEAR AND I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO LOOK INTO IT. THE TRACK IS BROKEN WITH NO INCIDENT OR CAUSE. IN RESEARCHING ONLINE, I DISCOVERED THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE HAD THE SAME ISSUE AND THAT THESE SUNROOFS ARE PRONE TO FLYING OFF WHILE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL AS IT IS AN UNSAFE CONDITION AND AN EXTREMELY COSTLY REPAIR FOR THE CONSUMER. *TR
I WAS BACKING OUT OF MY DRIVEWAY , IT WAS DARK OUTSIDE AND I COULD NOT SEE THROUGH THE REAR GLASS OF THE VEHICLE DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE TINT IS TOO DARK ON THESE AND MOST SUV'S . I FEEL THAT THEY NEED TO MAKE THE REVERSE LIGHTS MUCH BRIGHTER IF THEY ARE GOING TO TINT THE WINDOWS THAT DARK. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2002 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOW FELL INTO THE DOOR PANEL. THE FAILURE RECURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PLASTIC LIFT PLATE ON THE WINDOW REGULATOR WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 179,000.
I WAS DRIVING HOME AND NOTICED MY WINDOW FOR NO REASON FELL DOWN. THE JEEP WAS BOUGHT NEW BY US IN 2002. THE BACK SEATS OR WINDOWS HAVE BEEN RARELY USED. WE USE AIR AND HEAT, SO WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE DRIVER'S WINDOW, WE HAVE HARDLY ROLLED DOWN THE OTHER WINDOWS. I DID RESEARCH ABOUT THE FALLING DOWN ON THE JEEP WINDOWS. I LEARNED CHRYSLER KNEW SINCE 2002 ABOUT THE DEFECTIVE WINDOWS. THEY FINALLY RECALLED BACK SOME OF THE 2006 AND 2007 JEEPS. I CALLED THEM AND THEY DO NOT SEEM CONCERNED ABOUT THE DANGER THIS COULD CAUSE. I FEEL BECAUSE OF THE LITTLE USE OF THE WINDOW IS WHY WE HAVE NOT HAD THE PROBLEMS SEVERAL HAVE HAD. THEY THEN PROCEED TO CHARGE YOU $500. TO REPAIR THE WINDOW WITH THE SAME KIND OF PART THAT WILL BREAK AGAIN. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO SEVERAL PEOPLE. I ASKED CHRYSLER ABOUT THIS PART, THEY CONFESS JUST RECENTLY THEY HAVE CHANGED THE PART TO WORK. I SEE THE DANGER THIS COULD BE IF HAULING A YOUNG CHILD. EVEN THOUGH A CHILD IS TO BE IN A CHILD SEAT, THEY SOMETIMES CAN GET OUT. IF DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD AND THE WINDOW JUST DROPS, A CHILD COULD FALL OUT. IN A WRECK THIS COULD ENDANGER ANYONE. ALL THE WINDOWS IN THE JEEP HAVE A PROBLEM OF BREAKING FOR NO REASON, BUT MOSTLY THE BACK WINDOWS. CHRYSLER IS AWARE OF THIS AND SHOULD HAVE RECALLED ALL THESE WINDOWS. THEY ARE BLEEDING THE JEEP OWNERS BY HAVING TO CONTINUE TO REPAIR THE DEFECTIVE WINDOWS AND ARE ENDANGERING PEOPLE'S LIFE. THEY SHOULD BE MADE ACCOUNTABLE FOR THE DEFECTIVE PARTS THAT THEY KNEW THEY HAD AND CONTINUED TO USE. *TR

I WAS DRIVING MY 2002 JEEP LIBERTY AND WAS RAISING THE WINDOWS UP AND THE WINDOW OF THE BACK PASSENGER SIDE FELL INTO THE DOOR. THESE ARE ELECTRONIC WINDOWS. I WAS LUCKY THAT NONE OF MY CHILDREN WERE HURT. LUCKILY, THE WINDOW DID NOT BREAK AND I WAS ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR. THIS IS THE THIRD TIME THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED IN MY CAR. I FEEL THERE IS A FAULTY PART THAT JEEP DOES NOT WANT TO ADDRESS. IT IS A PLASTIC PART IN THE WINDOW REGULATOR. IT COST ME $400 DOLLARS THE FIRST TIME TO REPLACE THE PART. THE SECOND ONE JEEP REPLACED FOR FREE. I JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE AND JEEP DOES NOT FEEL RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING IT AGAIN. AGO.NOW SAME PROBLEM HAS RECURRED, I CALLED THE JEEP RECALL NUMBER AND THEY TELL ME THERE IS NO RECALL FOR THE 2002 JEEP LIBERTY, I THINK THAT IS NEGLIGENCE ON THEIR PART AS A AUTO COMPANY NOT RESPECTING THAT THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM, I AM 1 OUT OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WITH THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. BOTH, DRIVER SIDE FRONT AND REAR, AND PASSENGER SIDE REAR WINDOW REGULATOR CLIPS ARE BROKEN. ALL OF THE WINDOWS DROPPED DOWN INTO DOOR AND ARE NOW BEING HELD UP WITH A PLASTIC WEDGE JAMMED IN THE OPENING TO HOLD THE WINDOWS UP. THREE WINDOWS ON THIS ONE VEHICLE AND THOUSANDS OF OTHER COMPLAINTS ONLINE AND THERE IS NO RECALL? WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 70 MPH, WHILE IT IS RAINING, AND THE WINDOW REGULATOR CLIP BREAKS AND THE WINDOW DROPS DOWN WITH NO NOTICE? THIS IS A SAFETY DEFECT THAT SHOULD BE REPAIRED BY THE MANUFACTURER. *TR

I BOUGHT A 2002 JEEP LIBERTY SPORT IN AUGUST 2001. I STILL OWN IT AND OVER THE YEARS THERE HAS BEEN A CONSISTENTLY RECURRING PROBLEM WITH THE OPERATORS ON THE DOOR WINDOWS BREAKING OR FAILING CAUSING THE WINDOW GLASS TO FALL INSIDE THE DOOR. THIS HAS OCCURRED ON MY VEHICLE AT LEAST ONCE A YEAR (TO DIFFERENT WINDOWS) AND EACH TIME THE REPAIR IS TO REPLACE THE WINDOW OPERATOR AT A COST OF ALMOST $300 FOR THE PART AND EQUAL AMOUNT FOR LABOR, ETC. THE FAILURE IS APPARENTLY A PLASTIC CLIP THAT BREAKS OR LOSES ITS GRIP ON THE GLASS BUT THE DEALERS SAY THEY MUST REPLACE THE WHOLE OPERATOR. I NOTE FROM THE INTERNET THAT MANY OTHER JEEP LIBERTY OWNERS REPORT THE SAME DEFECT. WHY CAN'T CHRYSLER/JEEP COME UP WITH A PERMANENT FIX FOR THIS PROBLEM. IT IS A CHRONIC DEFECT AND A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD IF THERE ARE CHILDREN IN THE VEHICLE. *TR
I HAVE A 2002 JEEP LIBERTY AND I HAVE TO REPLACE A WINDOW REGULATOR FOR THE 5TH TIME. EVERY IN EVERY INSTANCE IT HAS BEEN THE REAR WINDOWS. IN ONE INSTANCE I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AND THE WINDOW CAME DOWN. I HAVE TWO CHILDREN IN CAR SEATS AND THE LAST THING I NEED IS FOR THEM TO THROW SOMETHING OUT OR FOR SOMETHING TO HAPPEN TO THEM B/C THE REGULATOR FAILED WHILE I'M DRIVING DOWN THE HWY. OTHER TIMES IT WAS PARKED IN THE DRIVEWAY AND WHEN I LOOKED OUT OF MY HOUSE THE REAR WINDOW WAS DOWN AGAIN. THE REGULATORS WERE JUST REPLACED ON 6-06-10 AND NOW IT IS 08-26-10. THE NEW REGULATOR DIDN'T LAST VERY LONG, HUH. AFTER ALL OF THE PROBLEMS THAT I 'VE HAD WITH THIS JEEP I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER ONE!! I HAVE NOTICED ON DIFFERENT ONLINE FORUMS THAT THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM FOR THOUSANDS OF JEEP OWNERS. FOR SOME REASON NOBODY SEEMS TO BE ADDRESSING THIS SITUATION. THIS COULD BE A POTENTIAL SAFETY PROBLEM AS THE WINDOW JUST COMES DOWN ON IT'S OWN WHEN THE CHEAP PLASTIC PART BREAKS INSIDE. IF A CHILD WERE NEXT TO THE WINDOW, THEY COULD UNBUCKLE SEAT AND POSSIBLY GET OUTSIDE VEHICLE. IN WHICH CASE THEY COULD BE HIT OR THE PARENT COULD BE DISTRACTED AND WRECK WHILE TRYING TO GET CHILD BACK TO SAFETY. THERE IS NO WARNING THIS IS GOING TO HAPPEN AND ALL JEEP WOULD NEED TO DO IS REPLACE THE PART WITH A METAL PART AND NOT CHEAP PLASTIC. SOMEONE CAN GET RIGHT INTO YOUR CAR IF YOU CAN NOT GET THIS FIXED RIGHT AWAY. I HAVE ALSO HAD TO REPLACE THE REAR PASSENGER WINDOW REGULATOR IN 2008. I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS ON THE INTERNET. THIS HAS BEEN GOING ON FOR SEVERAL YEARS WITH THE LIBERTY. CHRYSLER SHOULD FIX THIS FOR FREE AND NOT MAKE THE CUSTOMER PAY FOR A DEFECT.
