P235/70R16 The car was parked, when I left on the morning of July 14 to go to work, it had already exploded. I thought it was the excess heat but the strange thing was the separation that occurred.
MY SON NOTICED THE REAR DRIVERS TIRE NOT FEELING GOOD AS HE TRAVELED ON I-80 OUTSIDE OF LINCOLN, NE. HE STARTED LOOSING CONTROL AND EVENTUALLY LOST CONTROL, THE CAR ROLLED SEVERAL TIMES AND CAME TO REST UPSIDE DOWN. HE WAS STILL BUCKLED IN THE SEAT. AFTER LOOKING OVER THE CAR, THE REAR TIRES WERE BROKEN OFF THE CAR. THE LUG NUTS STILL ATTACHED TO THE TIRE. HE THINKS THE DRIVERS REAR TIRE CAME OFF FIRST AND THAT WAS WHAT STARTED THE CAR OUT OF CONTROL. THE OTHER REAR TIRE WAS ALSO OFF AFTER HE CAME TO REST SO HE IS NOT SURE WHEN THAT CAME OFF DURING THE CRASH. THE CAR IS A TOTAL LOSS. GEICO IS INVESTIGATING THE CAR TO SEE IF THEY CAN DETERMINE WHAT TOOK PLACE. THIS JUST HAPPENED ON 12/16/2016.
I GOT OUT OF MY CAR AFTER A 20 MINUTE DRIVE FROM WORK AND I COULD SMELL RUBBER BURNING. I STEPPED TO THE BACK OF MY JEEP AND COULD TELL THE SMELL WAS COMING FROM THE BACK DRIVER SIDE TIRE SO I REACHED DOWN AND TOUCHED THE WHEEL AND IT WAS SO HOT IT BURNED BY HAND. IT ACTED LIKE THE BRAKE HAD LOCKED WHILE I WAS DRIVING AND WORKING AGAINST MY SPEED. THIS IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM. SOMETIMES IT ACTS COMPLETELY FINE AND OTHER TIMES IT WILL LOCK UP AGAIN AND ALL I CAN SMELL IS BURNING RUBBING AND FEEL HEAT COMING OFF THE WHEEL WITHOUT EVEN TOUCHING IT. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TREAD BECAME COMPLETELY SEPARATED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND THE TIRE WAS REPLACED. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS CAUSED BY LOW TIRE PRESSURE ALTHOUGH THE CONTACT DID NOT AGREE. THE DOT AND VIN WERE UNAVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 3,000. THE VEHICLE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 126,000. *TR

2005 JEEP LIBERTY SPORT WITH 74,000 MILES. FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS NEED REPLACEMENT BECAUSE OF CORROSION. IF NOT REPLACED THE WHEELS MAY FALL OFF CAUSING A SERIOUS ACCIDENT THAT MAY LEAD TO DEATH. THIS ISSUE WAS FOUND INADVERTENTLY WHILE GETTING AN OIL CHANGE. THE VEHICLE DOES NOT DRIVE ANY DIFFERENTLY OR MAKE ANY PARTICULAR NOISES THAT MIGHT ALERT THE DRIVER THAT THERE IS A MAJOR PROBLEM. THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW FROM THE DEALERSHIP IN 2005 AND HAS NEVER BEEN USED AS AN OFF-ROAD VEHICLE. THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE HAS BEEN VERY WELL TAKEN CARE OF AND SHOULD NOT BE EXPERIENCING THIS PROBLEM. UNFORTUNATELY, DAIMLER CHRYSLER IS NOT ADDRESSING THIS PROBLEM WITH A RECALL. HAVING THE FRONT WHEEL BEARINGS REPLACED WILL COST UPWARDS OF $1000.00. *TR

PURCHASED NEW 2005 JEEP LIBERTY RENEGADE IN JUNE 2005 ALMOST IMMEDIATELY THE TIRE PRESSURE SENSOR LIGHT FLASHED FOR WEEKS THEN WENT ON SOLID. ASKED DEALER TO CHECK, THEY ADDED AIR AND IT WENT OUT. ALMOST IMMEDIATELY AFTER I LEFT THE DEALER THE SAME SITUATION OCCURRED. I ADDED AIR IT WENT OUT AND THEN IT REPEATED. EVENTUALLY THE LIGHT IS ALWAYS ILLUMINATED. FIVE YEARS LATER I JUST DRIVE WITH THE SENSOR LIGHT ILLUMINATED SINCE NOONE (DEALER/PRIVATE GARAGE/TIRE STORE) AND NOTHING (ADD AIR/NEW TIRES/NEW SENSORS ($120 EACH) FIXED THE PROBLEM. *TR

THE CONSUMER STATED IT DID BLINK FOR A FEW SECONDS. THE TIRE WAS REPLACED WITH A SPARE. AAA STATED THAT THE TIRE FAILED DUE TO LOW TIRE PRESSURE. TRAVELING INTERSTATE 94, APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH, UNAVOIDABLE TIRE DEBRIS ON ROADWAY. MY VEHICLE FRONT PASSENGER WHEEL STRUCK RUBBER TRUCK TIRE CASING WHICH JUST BLEW OFF TRUCK. THE VALVE STEM OF MY TIRE BROKE OFF INSTANTLY DEFLATING THE TIRE. THE VALVE STEM IS PART OF THE SIEMENS BDO TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR SYSTEM INSTALLED ON DAIMLER CHRYSLER VEHICLES AND MY JEEP LIBERTY. THE STEM BROKE AT THE STEM CAP THREAD. MY DEALERSHIP HAS REPORTED MANY FAILURES TO DAIMLER CHRYSLER THERE IS NO RECALL OR REPLACEMENT WHICH FIXES THE FAULT. THE ASSEMBLY MATERIAL IS SOME ALUMINUM ALLOY AND WILL READILY SNAP OFF IF PRESSURE IS APPLIED LATERALLY AT THE TIP OF THE VALVE STEM EVEN THE BRUSHES AT THE CAR WASH BREAK THESE VALVE STEMS.
