INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WITH ABS/ELECTRONIC STABILITY SYSTEM SETTING WARNING LIGHTS ON DASH AND DISABLING ABS/ESP. WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATE, AND TURN OFF RANDOMLY. MALFUNCTION HAS NOW LEAD TO FAILURE OF ABS, CAUSING LOSS OF VEHICLE CONTROL WHILE BRAKING. ABS CYCLED WITHOUT NEED, AND IMPROPERLY, CAUSING UNEVEN BRAKING AND VIOLENT, UNCONTROLLED SWERVING OF VEHICLE. REQUIRED REMOVAL OF ABS PUMP FUSE TO MAKE VEHICLE DRIVABLE AGAIN. THIS OCCURRED UNDER NORMAL BRAKING FROM ~45MPH TO A RED LIGHT. HAD THIS OCCURRED AT FREEWAY SPEEDS, OR UNDER AN EMERGENCY STOP, THERE WOULD HAVE ALMOST CERTAINLY BEEN AN ACCIDENT. OWNER FORUMS REPORT THIS AS A COMMON PROBLEM. *TR
WINDOW REGULATORS FAIL. JAN OF 08 RT REAR WINDOW FELL INTO DOOR PANEL. JULY OF 08 THE LEFT REAR WINDOW DROPPED INTO DOOR PANEL. NOW, JUST AS 3 YEAR WARRANTY IS OVER THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT FELL. HAVE GONE TO DEALER AND SINCE I AM NO WHERE CLOSE TO HAVING WARRANTY MILES ON VEHICLE THEY SAID THEY WOULD DO A COURTESY REPAIR. BUT, SINCE 3 HAVE FAILED I ASSUME THE 4TH WILL GO NEXT AND WHO WILL HAVE TO PAY FOR THAT FAILED REGULATOR REPLACEMENT *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING 45 MPH WHEN HE ATTEMPTED TO CLOSE THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW AND THE WINDOW FELL DOWN INTO THE DOOR PANEL ABNORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW REGULATOR FOR FAILED AND WOULD NEED REPLACING. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED FIVE TIMES. THE FAILURE WAS EXPERIENCED ON EACH WINDOW. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER AFTER EACH FAILURE TO BE REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000.
MY KEY LOCKS UP AND I CANNOT TURN IT ALL THE WAY BACK TO RELEASE THE KEY. THEREFORE MY KEY REMAINS IN THE IGNITION. I AM ABLE TO START THE CAR BUT UNABLE TO REMOVE THE KEY. *TR
BOUGHT A USED 2006 JEEP LIBERTY WITH 13K MILES. TWO TIMES THE REAR PASSENGER WINDOWS HAVE FAILED AND FALLEN INTO THE DOOR WHILE DRIVING ALONG THE FREEWAY. CHRYSLER DEALER AND INTERNET RESEARCH SHOWS THAT THIS ISSUE RECURS SEVERAL TIMES ON THIS MODEL. PARTS WERE REPLACED BY DEALER BUT THIS ISSUE APPARENTLY COULD REOCCUR. THE ISSUE IS A DEFECTIVE DESIGN IN THE WINDOW REGULATOR THAT REGULARLY FAILS. *TR
BACK WINDOWS KEEP FALLING IN TO THE BACK DOORS. I HAVE TO REPLACE THE WINDOW REGULATORS EVERY SIX MONTHS. I'M ON MY SECOND REPLACEMENT DRIVERS SIDE BACK WINDOW AND TREE TRIPS TO FIX IT IN ONE YEAR. THEN IN ONE YEAR THE PASSENGERS SIDE FELL IN AN I HAD TO REPLACE THIS WIDOW REGULATOR TOO. THIS IS BECOMING COSTLY AND SEEMS TO BE A DEFECT IN THIS MODEL 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. PLEASE INVESTIGATE. I'M GETTING REALLY TIRED OF REPAIRING THESE WINDOW REGULATORS. *TR
2006 JEEP LIBERTY ALL WINDOW REGULATORS BROKE AND ALL REGULATORS AND WINDOWS HAD TO BE REPLACED. HUNDREDS OF OWNERS ARE ON EDMONDS.COM WITH THIS PROBLEM. WINDOWS JUST UNEXPECTEDLY DROP INTO DOOR AND WILL NOT OPERATE. COST APPROXIMATELY $500 PER WINDOW IF OUT OF WARRANTY. *TR
I PURCHASED MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY IN 2007 WITHIN THE FIRST YEAR OF PURCHASE THE REAR RIGHT WINDOW MOTOR WENT OUT AND WAS COVERED UNDER WARRANTY AND REPLACED. WHILE STILL UNDER THE WARRANTY THE SAME WINDOW MOTOR WHEN OUT AGAIN AND WAS AGAIN REPLACED. NOW I NO LONGER HAVE A WARRANTY BOTH REAR WINDOW MOTORS HAVE GONE OUT. TO REPLACE BOTH WINDOWS WILL COST ME AROUND $830 DOLLARS. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THESE WINDOW MOTORS AND NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. IF THESE MOTORS KEEP GOING OUT LIKE THIS THERE SHOULD BE A RECALL AND WE AS CONSUMERS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO FOOT THIS BILL, THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH THIS VEHICLE. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, THE ENGINE SPUTTERED AND DIED. THE REPAIR ESTIMATE INDICATED THAT A VALVE SPRING BROKE INSIDE THE #5 CYLINDER, CAUSED BY A JUMP IN TIMING. THIS REPAIR/PROBLEM IS DIRECTLY LINKED TO A JEEP/CHRYSLER TECHNICAL BULLETIN. *TR
I HAVE HAD TWO WINDOW REGULATORS IN MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY UNLIMITED 4X4 GO OUT IN LESS THAN 4 MONTHS. I KNOW BY READING OTHER PEOPLES COMPLAINTS IN FORUMS THAT CHRYSLER KNOWS THAT THEIR PARTS WERE DEFECTIVE AND IN ORDER TO GET THIS FIXED YOU HAVE TO REPLACE THE REGULATOR AS WELL AS THE WINDOW. THIS IS SOMETHING THAT CHRYSLER SHOULD BE TAKING CARE OF. *TR
WHEN THE WINDOW REGULATOR BREAKS ON A JEEP LIBERTY, THE CABLE ASSEMBLY CAN BREAK OFF OF THE WINDOW. THE CABLE THEN CAN COME OUT OF THE DOOR LOCKING ASSEMBLY IF YOU TRY TO USE THE WINDOW CLOSE SWITCH. THIS WILL PREVENT THE DOOR FROM BEING OPENED. THIS HAS HAPPENED TO ME TWICE SO FAR IN 18 MONTHS. IF THE VEHICLE WERE IN AN ACCIDENT AND EMS NEEDED TO GET A PERSON OUT OF THE VEHICLE, THERE IS NO WAY THEY COULD IN THE ABOVE CONDITIONS. THE NUMBER OF COMPLAINTS THAT ARE OUT THERE ON THIS PROBLEM ARE STAGGERING. PLEASE DO SOMETHING BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR KILLED BY JEEPS LACK OF RESPONSE. *TR
THE GAS TANK SHOOTS A LARGE QUANTITY OF FUEL OUT EACH TIME WHEN REFUELING, WHICH COVERS THE REAR QUARTER PANEL OF THE VEHICLE IN GASOLINE AS WELL AS THE PERSON PUMPING. THIS OCCURS CONSISTENTLY, EACH TIME THE VEHICLE IS FILLED REGARDLESS OF FACTORS SUCH AS PUMP SPEED, TEMPERATURE, DEPTH OR POSITION OF THE NOZZLE. IT IS VERY DIFFICULT TO TIME FUELING SO THAT THE TANK IS NOT FULL SO THIS DOES NOT OCCUR. THIS IS A SAFETY HARD DUE TO THE INABILITY OF THE GAS TANK TO HOLD THE GASOLINE, WHICH WOULD BE DANGEROUS IN THE EVENT OF EVEN A MINOR ACCIDENT. IT IS ALSO HAZARDOUS FOR THE VEHICLE AND INDIVIDUAL TO BE COVERED IN A HIGHLY FLAMMABLE SUBSTANCE SUCH AS GASOLINE IN THE EVENT OF AN ACCIDENT. MANY OTHER DRIVERS OF THIS MODEL ALSO SAY THIS HAPPENS CONTINUALLY, THAT IT IS A CONSISTENT DEFECT AMONG OTHERS ACROSS THESE MODELS AND CHRYSLER DEALERSHIPS REFUSE TO FIX THE ISSUE. *TR
2006 JEEP LIBERTY REAR DRIVERSIDE WINDOW DROPPED IN TO THE DOOR FRAME WHILE DRIVING DOWN HIGHWAY ON 6-28-09. AT 60MPH THE NOISE ALMOST CAUSED ME SO CRASH!! TOLD IT WAS WINDOW REGULTOR...... THE WINDOW REGULATORS IN MY JEEP HAVE BROKE. THIS IS THE 4TH ONE FOR ME TO FIX. EACH TIME IT'S A DIFFERENT WINDOW. I HAVE NO CHILDREN SO MY BACK SEAT RARELY HAS PATRONS. IT'S NOT LIKE THOSE DOORS/WINDOWS ARE EVER USED. *TR

2006 JEEP LIBERTY. I HAVE HAD THE WINDOW REGULATOR GO OUT IN MY CAR CURRENTLY 5 DIFFERENT TIMES. WHAT CONCERNS ME IS THE SAFETY OF MY CHILDREN WHO ARE IN THE BACK SEAT WHEN THESE BREAK AND THE GLASS FALLS INTO THE DOOR, WHAT IF IT WAS TO BREAK, WHAT IF IT WAS STORMING OUTSIDE. I AM ALSO CONCERNED THAT WHEN I WENT ONLINE TO DO SOME RESEARCH THERE ARE MANY POST REGARDING THIS SAME ISSUE, ALSO A PETITION PUT FORWARD WITH 114 SIGNATURES ASKING FOR A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE, YET CHRYSLER JEEP HAS YET TO DO ONE. VEHICLE: 2006 JEEP LIBERTY RENEGADE ISSUE: ALL 4 DOORS HAVE NEEDED THE WINDOW REGULATORS REPLACED, ONE THEM HAS BEEN REPLACED TWICE. ANOTHER ONE BROKE TOWARDS THE END OF THE WARRANTY PERIOD BUT THE DEALER WOULD NOT REPLACE IT UNDER WARRANTY BECAUSE OF THE MILEAGE ON THE VEHICLE WHEN I ARRIVED AT THE DEALERSHIP. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED NEW IN DECEMBER OF 2006, SO IT HAS BEEN THROUGH 3 YEARS OF CONTINUOUS USE AND HAS RECEIVED 5 NEW WINDOW REGULATORS. IT NEEDS A 6TH NEW REGULATOR BUT THE DEALERSHIP WANTS TO REPLACE THE WINDOW AND THE REGULATOR, WITHOUT ANY BACK-UP DATA THAT SUGGESTS THIS WILL END THE PROBLEM. DURING THE LAST INCIDENT, I HEARD A LOUD POPPING SOUND COMING FROM THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE, WHILE DRIVING ABOUT 40 MPH, BUT DID NOT NOTICE ANY IMMEDIATE ISSUES. THE DOORS WERE BRIEFLY INSPECTED FOR ANY DAMAGE AND LOOKED FINE. AFTER COMING OUT OF THE MOVIE THEATRE, ABOUT 2 HOURS LATER, THE WINDOW HAD FALLEN COMPLETELY INTO THE DOOR. TO DATE THE PART HAS NOT BEEN REPLACED DUE TO A LACK OF CONFIDENCE IN THE CURRENTLY AVAILABLE RESOLUTION AND DUE TO THE EXORBITANT COST. AFTER INSPECTING THE ASSEMBLY, IT APPEARS THAT THE PLASTIC COMPONENT, WHICH MOVES ALONG THE RAILING, IS NOT ABLE TO SUCCESSFULLY CAPTURE AND MAINTAIN A CONNECTION WITH THE CABLE THAT ENABLES THE WINDOW THE GO UP AND DOWN. ONCE THE TWO PIECES SEPARATE THERE IS NO WAY TO RECONNECT THEM. *TR
2006 JEEP LIBERTY LIMITED WITH 2.7L CR DIESEL ENGINE. TRANSMISSION "HUNTS" FOR A GEAR WHILE DRIVING 50-TO-60 MPH, FREQUENTLY UP- AND DOWN-SHIFTING. PROBLEM IS INTERMITTENT. HAVE REPORTED PROBLEM TO DEALER BUT THEY FIND NO PROBLEM. *TR

WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO OPEN THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW AND NOTICED HAT THE WINDOW HAD FELL INTO THE DOOR PANEL ABNORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN REPLACED THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW MOTOR. AFTER THE REPAIR, THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW AS WELL AS THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT FURTHER REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
LOCKS CONTINUOUSLY UNLOCKED AND LOCKED, WHICH DRAINED THE BATTERY. CAR WOULD NOT START OR EVEN TURN OVER. REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY DID NOT WORK. (IDENTICAL TO THE 2004 RECALL). *TR
NO KNOWN CAUSE OF DEFECT EXCEPT CHEAP/FAULTY PARTS FROM MANUFACTURER. WINDOW REGULATOR FIXED NUMEROUS TIME, RESORTED TO DUCT TAPE THAT DOES NOT HOLD. WINDOWS WON'T STAY UP, DEFECTIVE WINDOW REGULATOR FOR 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. NUMEROUS CONSUMER COMPLAINTS. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE, ESPECIALLY FOR THOSE OF US WHO WORK NIGHTS AND HAVE TO APPROACH THE VEHICLE WITH THE WINDOW NOT INTACT. THE VEHICLE IS NOT SECURE. *TR
I WENT OUT SUNDAY MORNING, TO GO TO CHURCH AND MY REAR WINDOW OF MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY HAD FALLEN DOWN INTO THE DOOR. THE DEALER SAID THEY HAD SERVICED THE PROBLEM ON OTHER JEEP LIBERTY'S AND IN 2006 THE MECHANISM HAD BEEN CHANGED. THE COST OF THE REPAIR WOULD DEPEND ON WHICH MECHANISM WAS IN MY VEHICLE. MY SON HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH HIS 2003 JEEP LIBERTY RENEGADE. I WAS LOOKING AT SOME REVIEWS ONLINE AND RUDY ALSO HAD THE SAME PROBLEM WITH HIS 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. SINCE THIS IS A PROBLEM THE COMPANY KNEW ABOUT AND DID NOT LET THE CONSUMER KNOW ABOUT THE PROBLEM, I FEEL LIKE I SHOULD BE COMPENSATED FOR THE COST OF THE REPAIR. THE COST WAS $376.66. I WOULD ALSO LIKE TO KNOW IF I WILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM WITH THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR WINDOW? IF YES , THE MECHANISM SHOULD ALSO BE REPLACED AT THEIR COST. SINCERELY, _______ *TR
I HAVE HAD MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY AT THE DEALERSHIP 6 TIMES IN THE 3 YEARS I'VE OWNED IT. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BRAND NEW AND HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS SINCE. FIRST THE CAR WOULD NOT COME OUT OF PARK, AT THE DEALERSHIP THEY COULDN'T DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. AFTER MAY MONTHS OF THIS HAPPENING DAILY I HAD IT TOWED ON A FLAT BED TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY FINALLY REPLACED A CABLE THAT CONNECTED THE GEAR SHIFT TO BRAKE AFTER TELLING ME I COULD JUST SLAM REALLY HARD ON THE BRAKE AND IT WOULD JUST DISENGAGE, I SHOULD JUST HAVE DONE THAT INSTEAD OF HAVING IT TOWED. (STUPID ME I GUESS) THEN I HAD THE SAME ABS TRACTION CHECK ENGINE LIGHT PROBLEMS I'VE HEARD AND READ MANY COMPLAINTS ABOUT, FIRST TIME TAKING IT IN, THE PROBLEMS STOPPED AND THEY SENT ME HOME. SECOND TIME, I DROVE IT STRAIGHT THERE AND MADE THEM LOOK AT IT AND DRIVE IT, THEY HAD MY CAR FOR FOUR DAYS AND CALL ME TO TELL ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BECAUSE THE CODES WERE STORED AND NOT ACTIVE RESET THE COMPUTER AND SENT ME ON MY WAY. NOW YESTERDAY A YEAR LATER AND AT 48,000 MILES THE CAR STARTED AGAIN. I MADE THEM HOOK IT UP WHILE THE CAR WAS STILL RUNNING AND THE LIGHTS STILL ON. WHAT THEY DON'T TELL YOU IS THAT SHUTTING YOUR CAR OFF "STORES" THE CODES. WITH THE CAR STILL ON, THE CODES WERE ACTIVE AND THEY FOUND THE PROBLEM. THE BODY CONTROL MODULE. HOWEVER NOW IT IS OUT OF FACTORY WARRANTY AND I HAD TO FIGHT WITH THE GM TO GET IT COVERED. THEY STILL WOULDN'T COVER IT UNDER FACTORY BUT DID COVER IT UNDER EXTENDED WARRANTY AND WAIVED MY DEDUCTIBLE. HOWEVER I AM STILL VERY UPSET THAT THIS HAS NOT BEEN RECALLED, THIS SHOULD NOT BE AT MY EXPENSE AT ALL!!! I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER JEEP EVER! *TR
2009 DRIVERS SIDE BACK WINDOW REGULATOR BROKE NEEDED REPLACEMENT 2010 BACK WINDOW PASSENGER SIDE BROKE NEEDS REPLACEMENT. *TR
THE WINDOW REGULATOR ON THE DRIVERS REAR SUDDENLY BROKE WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY. I WAS FOUR DAYS OUT OFF WARRANTY,WHEN I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP THEY SAID I HAD TO TAKE THE WHOLE COST MYSELF. I TRY TO FIX IT MYSELF IF I CAN. *TR
IN 2006 JEEP LIBERTY, DRIVER'S SIDE REAR WINDOW DROPPED IN DOOR WHILE DRIVING AT SLOW SPEED IN A PARKING LOT. WHEN ATTEMPT WAS MADE TO ROLL WINDOW UP WITH POWER WINDOW SWITCH STRANGE NOISE WAS MADE AND WINDOW REMAINED DOWN IN DOOR. BROKEN PIECE OF PLASTIC WAS FOUND AT BOTTOM OF THE DOOR. THIS IS DEFINITELY A MANUFACTURERS DEFECT AND A DIFFERENT REPLACEMENT PART HAS BEEN MADE, SHOWING THAT THE ORIGINAL IS NOT ACCEPTABLE BUT CONSUMER IS EXPECTED TO ABSORB THE COST. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 65 MPH, ALL FOUR WINDOWS WOULD GRADUALLY SLIDE DOWN. THE CONTACT ENGAGED THE POWER BUTTONGS FOR THE WINDOWS AND ALTHOUGH SHE COULD HEAR A NOISE, THE WINDOWS WOULD NOT MOVE BACK UP. THE WINDOWS WERE SO FAR DOWN THAT THEY COULD NOT BE PULLED UP. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY WOULD ASSIST WITH THE REPAIR COSTS. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 25,045. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 21,000.
WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK PRESSURE BUILDS IN THE TANK AND FORCES THE GAS BACK OUT UNDER PRESSURE CREATING A SPRAY THE COVERS THE PERSON FILLING THE TANK, AND SIDE OF THE VEHICLE. THIS IS CAUSED BY A BROKEN / CLOGGED FUEL TANK VENT. THIS OCCURS EVERYTIME YOU FILL THE TANK. TRYING TO FILL THE TANK AT A LOW FILL RATE DOESN'T IMPROVE THE SITUATION. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FUEL CAP NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 181,000.

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE WINDOW REGULATOR AND GLASS WERE REDESIGNED BY THE CORPORATION, WHICH WAS A RESULT OF THE WINDOWS MALFUNCTIONING. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL OF THE WINDOWS IN THE VEHICLE WOULD RANDOMLY FALL DOWN INTO THE DOOR AND FAIL TO COME BACK UP. HE WAS FORCED TO TAPE THE WINDOWS IN THE UP POSITION IN HIS VEHICLE. THROUGH RESEARCH, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THIS WAS A COMMON FAILURE. HE SPOKE WITH A SERVICE TECHNICIAN AT THE DEALER WHO ADMITTED THAT MANY OTHER CONSUMERS EXPERIENCE THE SAME DEFECT AS WELL. THEY ALSO STATED THAT THE WINDOW REGULATOR NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 81,000 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 84,000.
AT THIS FIRST OCCURRENCE, WHILE PULLING OUT OF THE DEALERSHIP PARKING LOT WITH THE VEHICLE, THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW DELL INTO THE DOOR. I TOOK IT BACK AND THEY INFORMED ME THEY WOULD FIX IT FREE OF CHARGE. THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH THE WINDOW FALLING DOWN OCCURRED IN JUNE 2010 ABOUT A YEAR AFTER PURCHASE, AFFECTING THE RIGHT REAR WINDOW, WHICH HAD NOT EVEN BEEN USED. I FOUND OUT THEN THAT THERE WAS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THE WINDOW REGULATOR IN 2006 & 2007 JEEP LIBERTYS CAUSING THIS PROBLEM. THE 3RD OCCURRENCE, WITH THE LEFT REAR WINDOW IN NOVEMBER OF 2010, MADE ME GET ONLINE AND FILE THIS REPORT AFTER CARMAX REFUSED TO HONOR THEIR WARRANTY ON THIS REPAIR AND SENT ME TO JEEP WHO CHARGED 100 DOLLARS FOR IT. CHECKING THE SERVICE HISTORY THROUGH JEEP.COM, I FOUND THAT THIS VEHICLE HAD BEEN IN THE SHOP FOR THIS PROBLEM AT LEAST TWICE WITH THE PREVIOUS OWNER. I WOULD LIKE FOR THE CHRYSLER COMPANY TO TAKE FULL RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS AND ISSUE A RECALL, REPAIRING THE PROBLEM IN A WAY THAT IT STAYS FIXED, RATHER THAN REPLACING THE WINDOW REGULATOR WITH MORE FAULTY PARTS AS THEY HAVE BEEN DOING. THIS CAN BE VERY DANGEROUS AND DISTRACTING IF IT FALLS WHILE TRAVELLING DOWN THE HIGHWAY OR, IN MY CASE, OVER 2 HOURS FROM HOME IN FREEZING TEMPERATURES WITH A 7 MONTH OLD BABY IN THE SEAT BY THE WINDOW.
RIGHT REAR WINDOW REGULATOR/MOTOR WENT OUT AGAIN. THE DEALERSHIP ACTUALLY SAID THIS IS INCREDIBLY COMMON AND THEY SERVICE IT REGULARLY. NORMAL COST WOULD BE $220.00 HOWEVER, MY VEHICLE WAS MADE BEFORE 01/19/2006 SO IT'S $380.00. THE WINDOW WON'T GO UP AND SUDDENLY CAME DOWN. *TR
POWER WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED THIS IS SECOND TIME A WINDOW REGULATOR HAS FAILED ONE BACK AND ONE FRONT WINDOW. THIS IS NOT ONLY A HAZARD BUT COULD CAUSE MORE DAMAGE IF RAINING. THERE IS ALSO A CHILD HAZARD IF THE WINDOW CAME DOWN AT THE WRONG TIME. BAD PART STILL UNDER WARRANTY THEY WILL FIX BUT NEED NEW TYPE PART. *TR
CLUTCH SAFETY SWITCH ON 2006 JEEP LIBERTY (3.7 L GAS ENGINE) FAILED AFTER 40 K. IRONICALLY, THIS REQUIRES REPLACEMENT OF THE ENTIRE MASTER CYLINDER (COST $375). WOULD IGNORE PROBLEM, BUT THIS ALSO DEACTIVATES THE CRUISE CONTROL. SILLY DESIGN IN THAT A SIMPLE SWITCH FAILURE REQUIRES HYDRAULIC SYSTEM WORK. *TR
THE DRIVER'S REAR WINDOW REGULATOR BROKE AND NOW THE WINDOW WILL NOT GO UP AND DOWN AND SLIDES DOWN BY ITSELF. CHRYSLER ONLY SELLS THE MOTOR AND REGULATOR AND EVERYTHING AS ONE PACKAGE, SO EVEN THOUGH I CAN HEAR THE MOTOR WORKING AND IT IS MOST LIKELY A BROKEN PIECE OF PLASTIC, BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT JEEPS USE FOR REGULATORS, THAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM IM GOING TO HAVE TO PAY 300 DOLLARS TO BUY EVERYTHING. IF CHRYSLER WOULD USE A METAL BRACKET AS A REGULATOR INSTEAD OF A CHEAP PIECE OF PLASTIC THERE WOULD NOT BE SO MANY PROBLEMS WITH JEEP LIBERTY'S WINDOW REGULATORS BREAKING. AND SINCE THEY DON'T SELL REGULATORS BY THEMSELVES IT IS ALMOST LIKE CHRYSLER IS DOING IT JUST TO MAKE MORE MONEY AND THAT THEY DON'T CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS AT ALL. THE REGULATOR MOTOR OF THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW MALFUNCTIONED AND THE WINDOW SLID DOWN THE TRACK. CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGE OF THIS DEFECT CAUSED THE DOOR LATCH TO BRAKE, MAKING THE DOOR INOPERABLE. THE CONSEQUENCE IS A SAFETY HAZARD IF AN ACCIDENT OR ROLLOVER REQUIRED THE PASSENGER TO EXIT THE AUTOMOBILE. THE FAILURE OF REGULATOR ELECTRIC WINDOW MOTORS IS COMMONPLACE ON CHRYSLER PRODUCTS, WHEREAS, THESE OCCURRENCES ARE ALL OVER THE INTERNET. THE DEALER FIXED THE PROBLEM AT A COST OF $600. THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF CHRYSLER WARRANTY, AND THE EXTENDED WARRANTY INSURANCE CARRIER WOULD ONLY COVER THE MOTOR. THEY DID NOT COVER THE BROKEN DOOR LATCH, OR THE WINDOW GLASS. AFTER SEVERAL CONVERSATIONS WITH CHRYSLER, THEY ADMITTED TO HAVING A RUNNING CHANGE IN THE ENGINEERING OF THE ELECTRIC WINDOW ASSEMBLY, AND YOU CANNOT BUY THE REGULATOR MOTOR SEPARATELY. YOU MUST BUY THE GLASS WINDOW AND THE ENTIRE ASSEMBLY TOGETHER. I BELIEVE THE HISTORY OF THIS FAILURE WARRANTS A RECALL BY THE MANUFACTURER FOR SAFETY CONCERNS WITH THE DOOR LATCH BREAKING AS A RESULT OF BAD ENGINEERING. *TR

2006 JEEP LIBERTY 4X4 ENGINE MISFIRES DUE TO POOR VALVE DESIGN WITH ONLY 26,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. FOUND CODES PO 301, 302, 303, 304 (CYLINDER MISFIRES). REMOVED CYLINDER HEADS AND FOUND INTAKE VALVES TO BE FAILING, REPLACED INTAKE VALVES AND KEEPERS AND LAPPED VALVES. WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED CAUSING WINDOW GLASS TO FALL OPEN. OUR FAMILY PET EXITED THE WINDOW WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING. THESE WINDOW REGULATORS FAIL EASILY AND WITHOUT NOTICE. WINDOWS WILL SUDDENLY JUST DROP, OR OPEN. THIS CAN ALLOW A PET OR CHILD TO EXIT THE VEHICLE WHILE MOVING. ALSO A SECURITY HAZARD AS THE WINDOW REGULATOR CAN BE BROKEN EASILY BY PLACING BOTH HANDS ON THE WINDOW AND PUSHING DOWN CAUSING THE PLASTIC PARTS IN THE REGULATOR TO FAIL. SERVICE MANAGER DROVE VEHICLE AND AGREED SOMETHING WAS SERIOUSLY DEFECTIVE. DEALER HAS REPLACED SEVERAL COMPONENTS UNDER WARRANTY, YET VEHICLE STILL HAS SWAYING PROBLEM. VEHICLE IS STILL AT DEALERSHIP SINCE MARCH 13,2009. DEALER SAID THEY ARE STILL WAITING ON AN ANSWER FROM CHRYSLER/JEEP. I EMAILED CHRYSLER SEVERAL TIMES COMPLAINING OF PRIOR PROBLEMS. SHE DID NOT PUT IT DOWN IT FAILED AND FELL ON ITS OWN WHILE INSIDE OF HER PLACE OF EMPLOYMENT AGAIN. THIS IS A HAZARD THAT WOULD HAVE ALLOWED SOMEONE TO ENTER HER VEHICLE AND EITHER STEAL FROM THE VEHICLE OR ATTACK HER. SO ALL 4 POWER WINDOWS HAVE FAILED AND NOW THEY ARE STARTING TO FAIL AGAIN. WARRANTY WILL EXPIRE THIS OCTOBER AND WE FEAR WE WILL BE LEFT WITH CONSTANT REPAIRS AND SHE CONSTANTLY WORRIES ABOUT HER SAFETY KNOWING IT WILL MOST LIKELY HAPPEN AGAIN. REAR GATE ALSO HAD A LOUD RATTLING NOISE COMING FROM IT AND AFTER IT WAS SUPPOSEDLY FIXED BY DEALER UNDER WARRANTY WIFE COULD NOT GET THE GATE OPEN TO LOAD GROCERIES. UPON INSPECTION BY ME I FOUND THAT THE CHRYSLER JEEP DEALERSHIP JUST WRAPPED THE GATE LATCH STRIKER WITH ELECTRICAL TAPE INSTEAD OF REPLACING THE DEFECTIVE LATCH CAUSING THE DOOR LATCH TO BIND AND NOT OPEN. THIS VEHICLE NEEDS TO EITHER BE RECALLED OR ENFORCE A MANDATORY TSB ON A WORKING REVISION OF NEW PARTS. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW MOTOR WAS REPLACED ONE YEAR PRIOR. THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW MOTOR WAS REPLACED ONE MONTH PRIOR TO THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 69,800.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A BODY SHOP AND THEN TO THE DEALER; HOWEVER, THE DEALER COULD NOT FIND ANY ERROR CODES FOR THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST, BUT OFFERED TO SEND A CRASH INVESTIGATOR. AFTER SENDING THE INVESTIGATOR, THE MANUFACTURER CONCLUDED THAT THEY COULD DO NOTHING MORE TO ASSIST. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 33,348.
