I HAD TO REPLACE REAR BRAKES AFTER JUST 12,000 MILES ON MY BRAND NEW 06 JEEP LIBERTY. THOSE BRAKES SHOULD LAST AT LEAST 80,000 MILES. THE SERVICE MANAGER TOLD ME THAT THEY DID NOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH MY BRAKES, SO THEY INSTALLED BACK THE OLD CALIPERS AND THE OLD ROTORS. THEY HAVE REPLACED JUST THE BRAKE PADS, BUT NOT UNDER WARRANTY. THEY CONSIDER THAT "A NORMAL WEAR". THERE IS A MECHANICAL PROBLEM THAT WEARS THE REAR BRAKES THAT FAST AND THE DEALER DOES NOT WANT TO FIX IT. THANK YOU! *TR

TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THREE WEEKS AFTER PURCHASING THE VEHICLE, THE TRANSMISSION BEGAN LOCKING AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO GRIND WHEN DRIVING BETWEEN 30 AND 55 MPH. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE TRANSMISSION SKIPS AT SPEEDS FROM 0 TO 70 MPH. THE TRANSFER DRIVES FAILED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION AND THE VEHICLE HAD TO BE TOWED. IN APRIL OF 2007, NEW HARDWARE WAS INSTALLED ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAS HAD FOUR TORT CONVERTERS AND A REBUILT TRANSMISSION INSTALLED, YET THE FAILURE PERSISTS. THE ENGINE SIZE WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 25,600 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 999.
AT 16,000 MILES MY HIGH PRESSURE POWER STEERING HOSE WENT OUT ON MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY AND AGAIN AT 46,000. THE DEALER CLAIMS THIS IS "NORMAL" AND THERE IS NO RECALL ON A FAULTY PART. IF IT WEREN'T $462 I WOULDN'T THINK TWICE ABOUT IT. I GOT A SECOND ESTIMATE FROM THE GUY WHO WORKED ON MY OLD CAR(MAIN ST. GARAGE, FIRPLAY CO) AND HE SAID THAT HE'S SEEN QUITE A FEW JEEP LIBERTY'S COME IN WITH THE SAME PROBLEM...ONE LAST WEEK AND BEFORE THAT THERE WERE 3 OTHERS IN A 2 WEEK PERIOD. HE ALSO STATED THAT JEEP IS NOW USING A DIFFERENT COMPANY TO SUPPLY THEM WITH THE PART WHICH, TO ME, MEANS THEY KNOW THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH THE OLD ONE. *TR
DASHBOARD LIGHTS FOR ABS, ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL, AND TRACTION CONTROL CAME ON AND STAYED LIT AND I WAS ABLE TO RESET AFTER TURNING THE MOTOR OFF. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDOWS WOULD SUDDENLY ROLL DOWN AT ANY TIME. THE CONTACT PULLED THE WINDOW APART AND NOTICED THAT THE WINDOW REGULATOR HAD FAILED ON ALL WINDOWS. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 39,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 42,000.
I HAVE A PROBLEM WITH MY 2005 JEEP LIBERTY DIESEL FAILING TO STOP AT THE FIRST STOP SIGN IN THE MORNING. IT HAS ALSO NOT STOPPED AFTER BEING PARKED FOR A FEW HOURS. THE ENGINE CONTINUES TO PUSH THE VEHICLE FORWARD INTO TRAFFIC OR THE INTERSECTION/CROSS WALK. I HAVE TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO JEEP BUT THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. I HAVE COME VERY CLOSE TO RUNNING OVER STUDENTS ON THE CAMPUS OF THE UNIVERSITY OF ALABAMA. I BELIEVE THIS PROBLEM IS ASSOCIATED WITH JEEP'S TORQUE CONVERTER PROBLEMS. MY WIFE HAS ALSO EXPERIENCED THIS PROBLEM SO IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH DRIVING STYLE. THIS PROBLEM WILL EVENTUALLY KILL OR INJURE SOMEONE. *JB

HOWEVER, THE GRINDING AND SQUEAKING NOISE PERSISTED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE NOISE SOUNDED LIKE METAL RUBBING AGAINST METAL. THE DEALER TEST DROVE THE VEHICLE AND CLAIMED NOT TO HEAR THE NOISE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE WOULD LOSE CONTROL OF THE STEERING. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. BEFORE A RECALL WAS ISSUED, THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO FIND ANY FAILURES. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE RECALL PERTAINED TO FAULTY BALL JOINTS. THE CABLE FAILED ON THE VEHICLE. HE OFFERED TO SELL THE VEHICLE BACK TO CHRYSLER AND WAS REJECTED. THE PURCHASE DATE, POWERTRAIN, AND RECALL # WERE UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT MILEAGE IS 2,072 AND FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80.
FROM THE DATE I PICKED UP THE CAR, THE BRAKES GAVE OFF A "MOAN". THIS IS A RECOGNIZABLE NOISE, AS A BRAKE PROBLEM. THIS OCCURS MOSTLY IN COLDER WEATHER BUT IS LOUD AND PARTICULARLY EVIDENT WHEN I FIRST TAKE THE CAR OUT OF THE GARAGE IN THE MORNING WHEN BACKING UP. I HAVE HAD IT BACK TO THE DEALER AT LEAST 5 TIMES FOR THIS PROBLEM. THE DEALER HAS WORKED WITH THE MANUFACTURER, CHANGES THE COMPONENTS TO NO AVAIL. THE MANUFACTURER HAS WASHED THEIR HANDS OF THE PROBLEM BUT THE NOISE IS STILL THERE. *JB

THE CONTACTWAS CONCERNED WITH THE SAFETY OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT CALLED FOUR OTHER LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALERS AND WAS NOT OFFERED TO BE PUT ON A WAITING LIST. THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT THE LOWER BALL JOINT WAS ON BACK ORDER. THE VEHICLE MILEAGE WAS 15,000. THE CONTACT HAS NOT EXPERIENCED ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE VEHICLE AT THIS TIME. *AK
HAVING APPROX. 31,000 MILES ON MY VEHICLE, I WAS ALREADY HEARING WHAT I THOUGHT WAS THE NOISE MAKER ON MY BRAKES. I TOOK THE VEHICLE INTO PEPBOYS TO FIND OUT IT WAS NOT THE NOISE MAKER. THE FACTORY BRAKES WERE NOT WEARING CORRECTLY. I STILL HAVE 50% LEFT ON THE FRONT AND 75% ON THE BACK. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO REPLACE MY BRAKES AT ONLY 31,000 MILES. THE BRAKE PADS ARE UNEVEN AND SHOULD WERE EVENLY. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THE PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED INDICATING THAT THE AIR BAG WAS NOT ACTIVATED. THE PASSENGER WEIGHS 94 POUNDS AND THE CONTACT IS UNAWARE OF THE WEIGHT IN WHICH THE AIR BAG SHOULD ACTIVATE. *NM UPDATED 02/07/06. *JB
I AM CURRENTLY LEASING A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. I AM ABLE TO TURN OFF THE VEHICLE AND REMOVE THE KEY WHILE STILL IN 'DRIVE'. I DID THIS ONCE AND THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ROLL AWAY WHEN I STEPPED OUT OF THE CAR. I WAS ABLE TO GET BACK IN THE CAR AND STOP IT. NO ACCIDENT/NO INJURIES. *JB
2006 JEEP LIBERTY'S GAS TANK OVERFLOW MALFUNCTION. EVERY TIME I FILL THE LIBERTY'S GAS TANK IT HAS OVERFLOWED. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING EVER SINCE THE FIRST TIME I GASSED IT UP AFTER PURCHASING IT IN 2006. I HAVE REPORTED IT SEVERAL TIMES TO MY LOCAL JEEP DEALERSHIP IT WAS EVEN REPORTED TO THE DEALERSHIP WHEN I WENT IN TO GET MY FREE OIL CHANGE (AT 3000 MILES) FOR THE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE, BUT THEY HAVE CONSTANTLY PASSED THE BLAME DOWN ON ME FOR NOT PROPERLY FILLING THE GAS TANK. BECAUSE I AM EITHER A. AT FAULT BECAUSE I AM TOPING OFF THE TANK OR B. I AM AT FAULT FOR APPARENTLY USING THE SAME GAS PUMP ALL THE TIME. BUT IT DOESN'T MATTER WHO'S FILLING THE TANK, NOR DOES IT MATTER WHICH GAS STATION I GO TO GAS ENDS UP GETTING ON ME, THE SIDE OF THE JEEP, AND ON THE GROUND WHICH IS HAZARDOUS ALL THE WAY AROUND. I UNDERSTAND THAT THE TANK IS UNDER RECALL TO HAVE A HITCH INSTALLED, TO PROTECT IT FROM REAR END COLLISIONS BUT I HAVE NO INTEREST, IN PARTICIPATING IN THE RECALL UNTIL THE OVERFLOW PROBLEM IS RESOLVED. *TR
