TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 50 MPH, THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE WAS REAR ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THE AIR BAG AND ABS INDICATORS ILLUMINATED, BUT THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE WERE NO INJURIES AND A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A COLLISION SHOP AND LATER TAKEN TO A LOCAL DEALER. THE AIR BAGS COULD NOT BE REPAIRED BECAUSE THE PART WAS NO LONGER MANUFACTURED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND STATED THAT THERE WAS NO GUARANTEE THAT THE AIR BAG WOULD BE REPAIRED DUE TO THE PART UNAVAILABILITY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,450.
RECALL REGARDING FRONT LOWER BALL JOINT; 06V288000. WHILE AT FIRESTONE DURING A ROUTINE OIL CHANGE AND CHECK UP, I RECEIVED NOTICE OF A RECALL ON MY CAR - I WAS I WENT TO THE NEARBY JEEP DEALERSHIP AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS NOT APPLICABLE FOR MY CAR EVEN THOUGH I SHOWED THEM THE PAPERWORK FROM FIRESTONE DIRECTLY. JEEP DID NOT FIX MY LOWER BALL JOINT AND THEN APPROXIMATELY TWO WEEKS LATER, I WAS DRIVING TO SCHOOL AND MY CAR JOLTED AS IF I HIT A POT-HOLE BUT THE ROAD WAS CLEAR. I TURNED ON MY HAZARD LIGHTS AND PULLED OVER TO INSPECT. MY TIRES WERE NOT LOW ON AIR THERE WAS NOTHING ABNORMAL UNDER THE HOOD. I PARKED MY CAR AND LOOKED UNDERNEATH TO FIND A VERY OBVIOUS DISLOCATION. I CALLED A FRIEND WHO COULD IDENTIFY WHAT PART IT WAS EXACTLY AND HE SAID IT WAS MY LOWER BALL JOINT. MY CAR WAS A SAFETY HAZARD AND HAS BECOME A HUGE HASSLE TO DEAL WITH AND JEEP IS REFUSING TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. IT IS BEING REPAIRED IN A SHOP NOW AND I AM SEEKING REIMBURSEMENT FROM JEEP.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE EXPERIENCED A COMPLETE LOSS OF POWER WHEN COMING TO A STOP. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE INTAKE AIR CONTROL SENSOR AND IDLE CONTROL SENSOR NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 35 MPH, A CHIME SOUNDED FOR SEVERAL MINUTES AND THE FUEL CAP WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE OCCURRED ON A DAILY BASIS FOR TWO WEEKS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 111,000. UPDATED 08/22/16*LJ CONSUMER STATED THE DEALERSHIP TOOK IT FOR A TEST DRIVE AND NOTICED THE O/D LIGHT CAME ON AND OFF AND THE DIAGNOSTICS SAID THAT THERE WAS A GAS CAP READER PROBLEM IN THE TANK AND TRANSMISSION WAS POSSIBLY FAILING. CONSUMER STATED THE RECALL SHOWED ON THE COMPUTER STOPPING THE DEALER FROM GOING FURTHER. CONSUMER TOOK THE CASE TO AN ATTORNEY IN WHICH CASE BY THEN THE KEY STAYED STUCK IN THE IGNITION AND NEVER CAME OUT. UPDATED 6/20/18*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE AT A STOP SIGN AND MAKING A RIGHT TURN, THE VEHICLE MADE A LOUD GRINDING NOISE AND STALLED. THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT MOVED THE SHIFTER INTO PARK AND NOTICED THAT THE BALL JOINT AND AN UNKNOWN TIRE BECAME DETACHED WITHOUT AN IMPACT OCCURRING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE CONTACT'S RESIDENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBERS: 13V252000 (FUEL SYSTEM, GASOLINE, STRUCTURE) AND 18V278000 (SUSPENSION). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 150,000.
I HAVE OWNED MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY FOR 6 YEARS, AND NOT ONE TIME HAVE I COMPLETELY FILLED MY FUEL TANK THAT IT DIDN'T GUSH FUEL OUT EVERYWHERE, INCLUDING ON ME !
EVERY TIME I FILL THE GAS TANK (PARKED WITH ENGINE TURNED OFF), GAS SPEWS FROM THE FILLER TUBE, RUNS DOWN THE SIDE OF THE CAR, POOLS ON THE GROUND AND UNDERNEATH THE CAR, CREATING AN EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SITUATION. GAS CONTINUES TO SPEW OUT AND ALL OVER THE AREA UNTIL I DESPERATELY GRAB THE GAS PUMP NOZZLE HANDLE AND MANUALLY DISENGAGE IT! I NOW NEVER CAN DEPEND UPON AUTO SHUT-OFF!! I HAVE TO MANUALLY OPERATE THE PUMP NOZZLE, NOT TAKE MY HAND OFF IT, LISTEN TO THE GUSHING TONE SOUND AS THE TANK NEARS THE FULL POINT AND SHUT OFF THE NOZZLE BY HAND WHEN I HEAR THE GAS GETTING READY TO SPEW ALL OVER THE PLACE!! THIS IS SO DANGEROUS!!!!! OVER THE COURSE OF SEVERAL YEARS, I THOUGHT THIS PROBLEM WAS JUST UNIQUE TO MY CAR BUT AFTER TALKING WITH TWO OTHER JEEP LIBERTY OWNER ACQUAINTANCES, I DISCOVERED THEY HAD THE SAME DANGEROUS SAFETY PROBLEM WITH THEIR JEEP LIBERTY, AS WELL. THIS IS SO DANGEROUS.... IT NEEDS TO BE RECALLED AND FIXED!!! ("WHEN DID THIS HAPPEN FIELD BELOW: JULY 2009 TO PRESENT")
I HAD TO ROLL DOWN THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW GLASS TO PAY PARKING FEE AND THEN THE WINDOW NEVER WENT UP. HAD TO DRIVE IN THE HIGHWAY WHEN THE WINDOW WAS DOWN COMPLETELY. I HAD TO REPLACE THE WINDOW GLASS PRIOR 4 TIMES FOR THEIR LOW QUALITY LIFT PLATE ON WINDOW GLASS AND THIS TIME THE DEALER SAID IT IS NOT COVERED IN 7 YRS EXTENDED WARRANTY AND ASKED TO PAY $500 TO FIX THE REGULATOR. THE DEALER FIXED THIS LIFT PLATE ISSUE PRIOR UNDER 7 YRS EXTENDED WARRANTY WITH LOW QUALITY MATERIAL AND SO THIS ISSUE REOCCURED BUT THIS TIME AS THEY FOUND WARRANTY WAS EXPIRED THEY ASKED TO PAY $500 FOR REGULATOR THIS TIME SAYING IT IS NOT UNDER WARRANTY OR 7 YRS EXTENDED WARRANTY EXPIRED. JEEP NEEDS TO PAY MY $500 BACK FOR THE REGULATOR BECAUSE I THINK THEY ARE RIPPING MY MONEY OFF BECAUSE OF THEIR FAULTY DESIGN.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BALL JOINTS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 80,000.
2006 JEEP LIBERTY: FUEL SPLASHES BACK WHEN FILLING GAS TANK AT A GAS STATION. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME I FUEL THE TANK. FAULTY FUEL INLET CHECK VALVE. OTHER CHRYSLER VEHICLES HAVE THIS PROBLEM AND HAVE BEEN RECALLED FOR REPAIR. I SPOKE WITH A REPRESENTATIVE FROM CHRYSLER, AND THEY STATED THAT CHRYSLER HAS NO PLANS OF ISSUING A RECALL FOR THIS MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR VEHICLE.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING 25 MPH, THE VEHICLE MADE A LEFT TURN AND MADE AN ABNORMAL NOISE WITHOUT WARNING. ONCE THE VEHICLE CAME TO A STOP, THE FRONT PASSENGER TIRE DETACHED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
WENT TO START SMOKE CAME OUT FROM DASH WAS PARKED IN GARGAGE TRUCK IS STILL IN SHOP INS TOLD ME ONLY REASON THEY WOUL D COVER IS BECAUSE IS WAS A LONG COUSTOMER THY ONLY GAVE ME 883 TO REPAIR THERE ARE AT LEAST 14 CODES DUE TO THIS DON'T KNOW IF THEY WILL RESET IF NOT I HAVE TO PAY FOR REPAIRS I DO HAVE FIRE PROTECTION ON TRUCK THIS IS ALLSTATE I WILL SEND PAPER WORK IF NEEDED AT A LATER DATE I HAVE NONE ALSO WAITING FOR CHECK TOLD FOR ME TO PAY REPAIR SHOP
MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY WILL NOT START OR CRANK. THE COMPUTER DOES NOT SHOW ANY CODES. THE BATTERY HAD POWER, THE RELAYS ARE FINE AND THE STARTER IS FINE. WHEN YOU ARE IN THE JEEP AND TRY TO START IT, IT DOES NOTHING. ITS LIKE YOU FORGOT AND LEFT IT OUT OF PARK AND TRIED TO START IT. THE JEEP DOES NOT CLICK OR EVEN ATTEMPT TO START. NO ONE SEEMS TO KNOW WHAT'S WRONG WITH IT. I LOVE MY JEEP AND IT HAD BEEN WELL TAKEN CARE OF. I HAVE HAD NUMEROUS ISSUES, AND RECALLS. I STILL LOVE MY LITTLE LIBERTY. IF YOU COULD JUST HELP WITH A DIAGNOSIS, I WOULD BE FOREVER GRATEFUL!
AT 44,143 IN DEC 2009 I HAD 4 NEW TIRES AND REAR DISC PADS REPLACED. IN JULY 2012, ABOUT MILEAGE 54000, WHILE DRIVING IN TOWN, THE LEFT REAR WHEEL SPEED SENSOR FAILED CAUSING LOSS OF ABS, ESP, AND CRUISE CONTROL. I HAD DEALER REPAIR. AT 67,642,IN APRIL 2016, I NOTICED THE REAR DISC ROTORS WERE CAKED WITH A CRUSTY RUST AND IT APPEARED THAT THE BRAKE PADS WERE WORN OUT.. THE REAR BRAKES COULD NOT HAVE BEEN WORKING. THE DEALER PUT ON NEW ROTORS, CALIPERS, PADS, AND FLUSHED THE SYSTEM. THE RUSTY ROTORS COULD NOT BE TURNED TO REUSE, THE CALIPERS WERE BOTH "STUCK" AND THE BRAKE FLUID WAS "BLACK". I ALSO HAD THE FRONT ROTORS TURNED AND NEW PADS INSTALLED. THE ABS, ESP, AND CRUISE CONTROL STILL LIGHTS UP ON THE DASH FOR A MINUTE THEN GOES OUT BY ITSELF, LEADING ME TO TOTALLY DISTRUST THE SYSTEM. I HAVE NEVER SEEN BRAKE ROTORS SO RUSTED IN MY 65 YEARS.
CURRENT PROBLEM: DROVE VEHICLE INTO MY GARAGE. GEAR SHIFT IS NOW STUCK IN PARK; KEY STUCK IN IGNITION. IN THE PAST, I HAVE ALSO HAD AIR CONDITIONING BLOWER ISSUE (WORKS ON LEVEL 4 ONLY) FOR SOME TIME AND PASSENGERS COMPLAIN OF A "PLASTIC" SMELL WHEN I'M DRIVING. ?? 109,000 MILES.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH, THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW BECAME INOPERABLE. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE REAR DRIVER AND PASSENGER GLASSES SHATTERED PREVIOUSLY INDEPENDENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE COULD NOT BE DETERMINED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 74,000.
WHEN FILLING UP THE GAS TANK, THE AUTOMATIC SHUT OFF DOES NOT FUNCTION, RESULTING IN GAS POURING OUT OF THE TANK. THIS HAS HAPPENED CONSISTENTLY, NO MATTER WHERE OR WHEN I FILL UP.
PARKING BREAK MOUNTING PLATE ATTACHMENTS HAVE SHEARED SEPARATING THE THE PARKING BREAK ASSEMBLY FROM THE AXEL HOUSING RENDERING THE BREAK USELESS ON BOTH SIDES OF THE VEHICLE. CAUSE OF FAILURE UNKNOWN BUT THE ISSUE APPEARS SYSTEMATIC WITH THE VEHICLE AND IS NOT EASILY REPAIRED.

ALSO, WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY STALLED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO KLABEN CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM (1106 WEST MAIN ST, KENT, OH) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE WAS DAMAGED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE LIFTER CAME OUT OF THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 180,000.
IGNITION, KEY FELL OUT OF IGNITION AS I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD, I PUT KEY BACK IN IGNITION AND HAD NO RESPONSE TO SHUTTING VEHICLE OFF, KEY JUST WENT BACK & FORTH SLOPPY COULDN'T SHUT ENGINE OF! I ACTUALLY HAD TO TAKE BATTERY CABLES OFF TO SHUT OFF ENGINE? JEEP RAN AND DROVE FINE BUT HAD NO IGNITION CONTROL ON STOPPING OR STARTING? COST ME A NEW STEERING COLUMN TO FIX THE PROBLEM! DIDN'T EVEN MAKE 1 PAYMENT ON TRUCK WHEN THIS HAPPENED.
FRONT SUSPENSION:LOWER BALL JOINT WAS REPLACED 2006 IT HAS BROKE AGAIN WHILE PULLING INTO GARAGE BUT IS OUT OF RECALL FEEL IT IS DUE TO FAULTY REPLACEMENT PARTS. SHIFT INTERLOCK CABLE AND GEAR SHIFTER: CANT REMOVE KEY FROM THE IGNITION CALLED CHRYSLER NO RECALL ISSUED FOR THIS THEY WILL NOT REPLACE EVEN THOUGH IF YOU LOOK IN THE INTERNET THERE ARE LOTS OF JEEP LIBERTY OWNERS WITH THE SAME PROBLEM
ORIGINAL OWNER DRIVES 5000 MILES PER YEAR, ERRANDS, STAY-AT-HOME MOM, PARKED IN GARAGE DURING VEHICLES LIFE. IN DEC 2014 TOOK TO DEALER FOR TIRE ROTATION AND BALANCE. WAS TOLD BALL JOINTS BAD ON BOTH FRONT WHEELS AND UPPER CONTROL ARMS NEEDED REPLACED @ 60,000 MILES. WHEN LIBERTY WAS BRAND NEW TOOK TO DEALER FOR RECALL F-22 AND WAS THERE MAYBE 30 MINS. WAS TOLD GOOD TO GO.... VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 65,000 AND HAVE RECEIVED SECOND OPINION FROM REPUTABLE MECHANIC WHO STATES THE DRIVER'S SIDE IS WORSE THAN PASSENGERS AND SHOULD BE REPLACED, THAT THIS IS EITHER A "FAILED RECALL" OR PREMATURE WEAR. WITH MY MILEAGE BEING SO LITE, THIS DEFECT WOULD HAVE INITIATED LONG BEFORE IT SHOULD HAVE. THE AVERAGE MILES A PERSON DRIVES IS 12000-15000 A YR WHICH WOULD HAVE PUT THIS DEFECT OCCURRING 3 YRS AFTER INITIALLY RECALLED. THE REPLACEMENT PARTS ARE FAULTY THEMSELVES OR JEEP ISN'T BEING HONEST ABOUT THE LIFE CYCLE OF THIS RECALL. I CANNOT BELIEVE A COMPANY WOULD ALLOW PEOPLE TO DRIVE VEHICLES WITH GAS TANKS READY TO EXPLODE AND BALL JOINTS ABOUT TO COME UNGLUED ANY MOMENT....
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH, THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW INDEPENDENTLY ROLLED DOWNWARDS AND FAILED TO ROLL BACK UP. IN ADDITION, THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW ROLLED DOWN INDEPENDENTLY AND FAILED TO ROLL BACK UP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ACTUATORS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,000.
THE JEEP WAS BEING DRIVEN BY MY GRANDDAUGHTER LEAVING HER WORK AT STARBUCKS, WHEN SHE TRIED TO EXIT THE PARKING LOT THE RIGHT FRONT BALL JOINT DROPPED OUT AND THE JEEP SET DOWN ON THE A-FRAME AND STOPPED. HAD THIS HAPPENED ON THE HIGHWAY SHE COULD HAVE BEEN BADLY HURT OR EVEN KILLED. CHRYSLER HAS A RECALL ON THIS SPECIFIC PROBLEM FOR THE 06 JEEP LIBERTY BUT INSIST THAT A RECALL IS ISSUED BY VIN NUMBER, WHICH DOES NOT MAKE SENSE, THE BALL JOINT IS A VERY BAD DESIGN AND THE SHOULD RECALL ALL 2006 OR LATER MODELS WITH THIS CONDITION.
ORIGINALLY PURCHASED TOW HITCH AND PAID FOR INSTALLATION AT A CAR REPAIR SHOP, THEN LATER HAD TO STOP BY A JEEP DEALERSHIP TO INSPECT IT. THE JEEP DEALERSHIP REMOVED MY HITCH TO INSTALL A NEW ONE BUT STOLE MY OLD HITCH THAT I ALREADY PAID FOR. I COULD HAVE RETURNED THE OLD HITCH OR USED IT FOR MY OTHER VEHICLE BUT INSTEAD THEY REFUSED TO GIVE IT BACK TO ME AND WOULDN'T EVEN GIVE ME BACK THE SMALL RUBBER TOW HITCH COVER I HAD ON IT. SO NOW I'M OUT THE MONEY I PAID FOR THE ORIGINAL HITCH AND NOW CHRYSLER JEEP GETS AWAY WITH STEALING MY AFTERMARKET ADD-ONS. THIS IS CRIMINAL AND I SHOULD BE REIMBURSED FOR WHAT THEY TOOK FROM ME. THE DEALERSHIP WAS RUDE TO ME AND TOLD ME THEY HAD TO DESTROY THE TOW HITCH I BROUGHT IN. OVERALL, IT WAS THE WORST SERVICE EVER.
RECALLS ON THIS CAR WERE NOT TAKEN CARE OF BEFORE BEING SOLD TO THE CURRENT OWNER. INFORMATION ABOUT SUCH RECALLS WERE NOT DISCLOSED BEFORE OR DURING THE TIME OF SALE. SMALL ISSUES AROSE DURING THE FIRST FEW MONTHS OF OWNERSHIP. RECENTLY ,IN JANUARY 2016 BIGGER ISSUES HAVE COME ABOUT AND NOW THE ENGINE MUST BE REPLACED. THIS HAS ALL HAPPENED WHILE THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN MOTION.
THE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH ON MY VEHICLE REGULARLY FAILS. MY MECHANIC HAS DONE THIS REPLACEMENT SO MANY TIMES I HAVE LOST COUNT. HIS FIRST TRY HE USED A LESS EXPENSIVE BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH, BUT SINCE THE FIRST TIME HE HAS ONLY USED THE MANUFACTURER PART. THE LAST REPLACEMENT LASTED 6 WEEKS.
JEEP WOULD NOT START -HAD LIGHTS, RADIO, HORN ETC. BUT IT WOULD NOT TURN OVER AT ALL. TOWED TO DEALER. TECH PERFORMED DIAGNOSIS AND FOUND THE PROBLEM - STEERING COLUMN HAD TO BE REPLACED. TOTAL COST $798.00. I WAS TOLD THAT THE STEERING COLUMN AND IGNITION SWITCH WERE PROBLEM ISSUES IN THIS MAKE AND MODEL BUT NO RECALL WAS IN PLACE TO REPAIR. IGNITION SWITCH RECALL REPLACE IN 2006 JEEP LIBERTY MANUAL TRANSMISSION BUT NOT IN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 167,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

MANUAL TRANSMISSION SLAMS OUT OF 1ST GEAR INTO NEUTRAL WHEN ACCELERATING FROM A STOP. THIS COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS REAR-END COLLISION BECAUSE THE VEHICLE IS SUDDENLY OUT OF GEAR AT A CRITICAL POINT OF ACCELERATION. IT IS UNPREDICTABLE AND THE ONLY WAY TO PREVENT IT IS TO HOLD THE STICK SHIFT SECURELY WHILE ACCELERATING. IT HAPPENS QUITE FREQUENTLY.
THE VEHICLE WAS IN NEED OF NEW BRAKES, ROTORS, PARKING BRAKE SHOES AND HARDWARE AT 93000 MILES. A GRINDING NOISE FROM THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE BRAKING SYSTEM WAS PRESENT WHEN IN MOTION AND ASSUMED TO BE WARPED ROTORS. WHEN THE ROTORS WERE REMOVED IT WAS FOUND THAT THE PARKING BRAKE BACKING PLATE AND THE BOLTS THAT SECURE IT HAVE RUSTED TO THE EXTENT THAT THE PLATE IS LOOSE AND NO LONGER SECURED, WHICH MAKES THE PARKING BRAKE DEFECTIVE AND IS A SERIOUS SAFETY CONCERN. THIS APPEARS TO BE A VERY COMMON PROBLEM AND FOR A VEHICLE UNDER 10 YEARS OLD AND 100000 MILES TO HAVE PARTS RUST SO SEVERELY THAT THEY FAIL IS AN ISSUE THAT CHRYSLER SHOULD ADDRESS, AS IT IS OBVIOUS THAT THIS PART WAS NOT MADE TO LAST.
HAD BOTH REAR WINDOWS AND THEIR REGULATORS REPLACED AT 24,612 MILES AS BOTH WINDOWS HAD FALLEN INTO THE DOORS. THE REPAIR WAS MADE UNDER GOODWILL AS THE VEHICLE WAS MORE THAN 3 YEARS OLD BUT UNDER 36,000 MILES. THE PROBLEM WITH THE REAR WINDOW APPEARED AGAIN BEFORE 49,000 MILES AND I MUST BEAR THE COST OF THE REPAIR, WHICH WILL BE WELL OVER $300. WE LIVE IN CONSTANT FEAR OF USING OUR POWER WINDOWS AS EVENTUALLY THEY WILL COLLAPSE INTO THE DOORS AGAIN FOR ANOTHER EXPENSIVE FIX AND MORE TIME WAITING FOR REPAIRS AT THE DEALERSHIP. I BOUGHT THIS VEHICLE NEW AND STILL OWN IT. THE VEHICLE WAS MOVING WHEN THE WINDOW PROBLEM HAPPENED.

WHILE THE AIR CONDITIONER WAS OPERATED, THE FUEL ODOR STILL ENTERED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT NOTICED WHITE SMOKE COMING FROM THE DASHBOARD AND THIN GRAY SMOKE COMING FROM THE REAR PASSENGER TIRE. TODAY THE JEEP DEALER SAID THE FRAME RAIL WAS NOT GOOD ENOUGH TO INSTALL THE HITCH AS CALLED FOR IN THE RECALL. I CALLED THE CHRYSLER COMPLAINT LINE AND WAS TOLD THERE IS NOTHING CHRYSLER CAN DO. SO NOW I MUST DRIVE AN UNSAFE VEHICLE, HOW CAN I SELL IT, OR EVEN TRADE IT IN. WHAT AM I SUPPOSED TO DO NOW? I READ THAT VEHICLES LESS THAN 10 YEARS OLD COULD BE PURCHASED BACK. THESE JEEPS WERE RECALLED FOR REAR SUSPENSION COMPONETS RUSTING UP SO NOW THAT THE FRAMES IS RUSTING I HAVE TO DRIVE A DEATH TRAP. I AM WONDERING HOW MANY TIMES CHRYSLER IS USING THESE EXCUSES IN ORDER TO NOT DO ANYTHING. ABS SYSTEM GOES OUT WHICH IN TURN MAKES THE CRUISE CONTROL GO OUT. THEN WHEN YOU USE THE VEHICLE AGAIN THE ABS IS ON SO IS THE CRUISE CONTROL BUT THE BRAKES DON'T WORK WELL AND GRAB. THEN WHEN YOU ARE USING THE LIGHTS AT NIGHT IT DIMS FOR NO REASON INSIDE AND OUT. STILL WAITING ON THE FIX FOR THE REAR END FUEL TANK ISSUE

WHILE DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE REAR DRIVER SIDE WINDOW SLID DOWN INTO THE DOOR PANEL WITHOUT WARNING AND THE CONTACT HAD TO MANUALLY CLOSE THE WINDOW. IN ADDITION, WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED, THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW OPENED AND THE CONTACT HAD TO CLOSE THE WINDOW AGAIN MANUALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE WINDOW CABLES FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 65,000.
ABS, BAS/ESP, TCS INDICATOR LIGHTS ILLUMINATE, VEHICLE LOSES POWER, BRAKES ARE APPLIED ( MOST LIKELY RIGHT FRONT AS CAR PULLS TO RIGHT) RELEASING THROTTLE CANCELS THE BRAKING. AS THROTTLE IS REAPPLIED SAME ACTION IS REPEATED. SO FAR IT HAS ONLY OCCURRED AT SPEEDS< 35 MPH. SHOULD IT OCCUR IN SLIPPERY ROAD CONDITIONS IT MOST LIKELY RESULT IN LOSS OF CONTROL.IN RESEARCHING THE PROBLEM ON THE INTERNET, IT SEEMS TO BE OR IS BECOMING A MORE COMMON OCCURENCE WHICH FCA IS NOT ADDRESSING. IF YOU READ THE OTHER COMPLAINT OF THE SAME PROBLEM IT DATES BACK A FEW YEARS, YET THERE DOESN'T SEEM TO BE ANYTHING DONE TO CORRECT IT. SOME COMPLAINANTS SAY THEY HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO HAVE IT CORRECTED EVEN AT JEEP DEALERSHIPS, OTHERS REPORT IT'S SOMETHING CALLED THE CLOCK SPRING THAT IS CAUSING THE PROBLEM AND THE PARTS TO REPAIR IT AREN'T AVAILABLE. HAVING JUST RECENTLY HAD FCA'S GAS TANK SOLUTION CORRECTED, I HOPE A FIX FOR THIS WON'T TAKE AS LONG. I NEGLECTED TO SAY THIS WAS NOT A ONE-TIME EVENT IN AS MUCH AS IT HAPPENS NOW ON AN ALMOST DAILY BASIS. A LOCAL SHOP CHECKED FOR FAULT CODES BUT THERE WERE NONE IN MEMORY; I HAVE IT SCHEDULED FOR FURTHER TESTS 09/16/2015.
ON SEPTEMBER 2, 2015 I BROUGHT MY 2006 JEEP LIBERTY IN TO A DEALERSHIP, BENSON CHRYSLER, IN GREER SC FOR A REAR STRUCTURE REINFORCEMENT RECALL REPAIR. AFTER BEING LEFT AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR 4.5 HOURS, I WAS INFORMED THAT THE RECALL REPAIR COULD NOT BE COMPLETED DUE TO A LARGE AMOUNT OF RUST ON THE BOLTS. I WAS TOLD BY THE MANAGER, BRAD THAT MORE THAN ONE TECHNICIAN LOOK AT THE CAR AND DETERMINED IT COULD NOT BE REPAIRED. I LEFT THE DEALERSHIP IN DESPAIR WITH MAJOR CONCERN BECAUSE THE RECALL INVOLVES A CHANCE OF THE JEEP FUEL TANK LEAKING DURING A REAR END COLLISION WHICH COULD RESULT IN A FIRE. NOW AS A MOTHER AND WIFE I CANNOT IMAGINE CONTINUING TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE KNOWING THE AT ANY GIVEN TIME I COULD LOSE MY CAR AND POSSIBLY THE LIFE OF ME AND MY FAMILY. PLEASE HELP ME BY ADDRESSING THE ISSUE OF HOW CHRYSLER PLAN TO HANDLE THIS RECALL. FROM THE TIME I RECEIVED THE RECALL NOTICE I HAVE BEEN TRYING TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE. I CALLED WHEN FIRST RECEIVED THE RECALL, THEN AGAIN IN JUNE AND SPOKE TO A JENNIFER, STATED THAT THE PART WAS ON BACK ORDER AND THAT I WAS IN THE 100 AND THEY WERE ON 30. I ASKED WHAT I SHOULD DO DURING THE WAITING TIME AND SHE SAID TO TRY NOT TO GET HIT. I CALLED AGAIN THE BEGINNING OF SEPTEMBER AND JENNIFER STATED THAT I SHOULD RECEIVE A PART OR CALL IN A FEW DAYS. IT IS NOW SEPTEMBER 14 AND I HAVE NOT HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT FIXING OR SETTING UP AN APPOINTMENT FOR FIXING THE JEEP. I HAVE THREE CHILDREN THAT RIDE IN MY JEEP, I DO NOT HAVE A CHOICE BUT TO DRIVE IT, ALL I CAN DO IS PRAY THAT I DO NOT GET HIT FROM BEHIND ONE DAY AND CAUSE THE GAS EXPLOSION THAT COULD OCCUR DO TO MANUFACTURING ISSUES.

THE PAIN ON THE OUTSIDE ROOF IS PEELING, I DO LIVE IN A STATE WHERE THE ROADS ARE SALTED HOWEVER, THERE IS NO SALT USED ON THE TOP OF THE VEHICLE, THIS, WHILE NOT A NEW VEHICLE SHOULD NOT BE PEELING THE WAY IT IS. THE FRONT WINDSHIELD HAD A SEVERE CHIP & THE INSTALLER WAS BARELY ABLE TO SAND THIS AREA DOWN ENOUGH TO BE ABLE TO SEAL THE WINDSHIELD. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH & THIS IS A VERY COMMON PROBLEM ALONG WITH THE REAR WINDOW REGULATORS BOTH OF WHICH HAVE HAD TO BE REPLACED. THERE ARE PROBLEMS WITH THE EMERGENCY BREAK & THE JEEP DEALERSHIP GIVES ONE REASON FOR THE ABS, ESP AMONG OTHER WHEEL AND BREAKING ISSUES. AND NOW THE ONE THING THAT JEEP IS FINALLY SUPPOSED TO BE DOING SOMETHING ABOUT RATHER THAN ME HAVING TO PUT MORE MONEY INTO THIS VEHICLE FOR, THE GAS TANK RECALL SEEMS TO BE A RIDICULOUS FIX, AND I HAVE BEEN ON A WAITING LIST FOR THIS FOR MONTHS AND STILL HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO GET IT IN TO GET THIS FIXED. I SAW A NEWS STORY THAT SAID THAT CHRYSLER WAS BEING MANDATED TO FIX THESE VERY POORLY MADE VEHICLES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 06V288000 (SUSPENSION). THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 107,000.
CANNOT FILL GAS TANK WITHOUT GAS SPEWING OUT EVEN IF TRYING TO FILL IT VERY SLOW. I'M ONLY ABLE GET A FEW DOLLARS IN A TIME, BUT ALWAYS END UP TAKING A "GAS BATH." ALSO WHEN I PURCHASED THE JEEP LIBERTY IN 2009 I CANNOT LET THE GAS AUTO FILL OR IT WILL "SPLASH OUT" WHEN IT CLICKS OFF. I HAVE TO WATCH IT FILL AND SHUT OFF AT 16.5 GALLONS OR LESS IF COMPLETELY EMPTY OR I'LL HAVE A MESS ON MY HANDS.
