2006 JEEP LIBERTY CLOCKSPRING MALFUNCTION. CONTACT WITH DEALERSHIP YIELDED INFO THAT NO REPLACEMENT PART IS AVAILABLE, YET THE CAR IS RENDERED UNSAFE WITHOUT THE REPLACEMENT OF MALFUNCTIONING PART. OWNERS HAVE TO DECIDE WHETHER TO DRIVE UNSAFELY OR PARK IT UNTIL THE PART IS AVAILABLE, WHICH MOST PEOPLE CANNOT AFFORD TO DO. THIS IS A WIDESPREAD PROBLEM THAT CHRYSLER IS NOT ADDRESSING.

I HAVE BEEN ON LINE AND FIND THAT THIS IS A CONTINUING PROBLEM BECAUSE OF DEFECT IN THE WINDOW CONTROLLER. THIS IS A DEFECT AND IT IS WRONG FOR CUSTOMERS TO BE SADDLED FINANCIALLY WITH THIS ISSUE. WE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE MONTHS AGO STATING THERE WAS A CHANCE FOR FUEL LEAKAGE DURING A REAR-END COLLISION. I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO A JEEP DEALER TO HAVE THE N46 RECALL COMPLETED AFTER WAITING 4 MONTHS FOR PARTS. I WAS TOLD THAT I HAVE LEVEL 5 SURFACE RUST AND THAT IT IS UNSAFE AND THEY WILL NOT FIX THE RECALL. I CALLED JEEP AND SPOKE TO A REP ABOUT THE RECALL AND WAS TOLD THEY WILL NOT FIX THE RECALL AND I WILL HAVE TO PAY TO HAVE THE RUST REMOVED. THE MECHANIC STATED THAT THE VEHICLE NEEDED A NEW KEY OR THE IGNITION MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. AFTER CONTACTING THE DEALER ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED TO REPAIR THE VEHICLE WERE STILL NOT AVAILABLE AND NO ESTIMATED TIME FOR RECEIVING THE PARTS COULD BE PROVIDED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE HAD CONTACTED THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER NUMEROUS TIMES AND FAILED TO PROVIDE AN ESTIMATED DATE FOR WHEN THE PARTS WOULD BE AVAILABLE FOR THE RECALL REPAIRS. THE CONTACT FELT THAT THE REPAIR HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE.

TRANSMISSION BROKE! EVERY OWNER OF A 2005 OR 2006 JEEP LIBERTY DIESEL THAT I HAVE SPOKEN WITH,HAS HAD TO REBUILD OR REPLACE THEIR TRANSMISSION.THE MANUFACTURE HAD A RECALL TO TUNE DOWN ENGINE TO HELP PREVENT PROBLEM,I HAD THIS DONE,BUT THIS IS ONLY A TEMP FIX,(A BAND-AID). THE REAL PROBLEM IS A WEAK LINK IN THE TRANNY,(THE TORQUE CONVERTER). WHEN THE TORQUE CONVERTER FAILS IT DESTROYS THE TRANSMISSION.. WHICH IS WHAT JUST HAPPENED TO ME. MY JEEP IS 8 YEARS OLD, BUT I ONLY HAD 68,000 MILES ON IT. THE REASON I PURCHASED THIS VEHICLE WAS FOR THE LONG SERVICE LIFE OF THE 2.8L DIESEL (300,000 PLUS MILES BEFORE REBUILD). I LIVE IN A SOMEWHAT RURAL AREA AND I HAVE SPOKE WITH OVER 12 PEOPLE WHO HAS EXPERIENCED THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH THERE 2.8L DIESEL TRANSMISSION #545RFE. I KNOW THIS IS A NATIONWIDE PROBLEM,I HAVE GONE ONLINE AND SPOKEN WITH ALOT OF LIBERTY OWNERS AND ALL HAVE HAD TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS,I HAVE ALSO SPOKE WITH MANY FORMER LIBERTY OWNERS WHO SAID THEY WOULD NEVER DRIVE ANOTHER JEEP, BECAUSE LACK OF DEALER CONCERNS OVER TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS..THEY HAD! I AM CORRECTING THE PROBLEM BY REPLACING THE DAMAGED STOCK TRANSMISSION,WITH A HIGHLY RECOMMENDED AFTERMARKET ONE MADE FOR THE TORQUE OF A DIESEL ENGINE.. I FEEL CONSUMERS SHOULD NOT HALF TO ENDURE THAT LARGE OUT OF POCKET EXPENSE,TO REPAIR A MANUFACTURER PROBLEM! THANK-YOU *TR
COULD NOT REMOVE KEY FROM IGNITION. MECHANIC DISCOVERED CABLE FROM SHIFTER TO IGNITION BROKEN. MECHANIC ALSO DISCOVERED PIECE WITHIN SHIFTER BROKEN THAT ALLOWED SHIFTER TO MOVE IN AND OUT OF PARK WITHOUT DEPRESSING BRAKE. *JS
