POWER WINDOW FAILED SUDDENLY IN 2007 JEEP LIBERTY. THE WINDOW CANNOT BE CLOSED AND IS A SAFETY ISSUE. AT THIS TIME, THE WINDOW HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED. *TR
ELECTRIC WINDOWS DON'T WORK. ONE DAY IT WORKED THEY NEXT DAY IT DIDN'T. THERE WAS NO EVENT TO CAUSE THIS. I HAVE 2 WINDOWS THAT DO NOT WORK, PASSENGER SIDE FRONT WINDOW AND DRIVER SIDE REAR WINDOW. AFTER CHECKING ON LINE I DISCOVERED THAT THIS WAS A PROBLEM THAT IS OCCURRING WITH A LOT OF PEOPLE AND THAT CHRYSLER JEEP IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEMS. *TR
ON TWO SEPARATE OCCASIONS, A WINDOW ON MY 2007 JEEP LIBERTY BROKE (THE FRONT AND REAR DRIVER'S SIDE WINDOWS). AS I WAS ROLLING THE WINDOW UP OR DOWN, IT SUDDENLY STARTED MAKING A LOUD NOISE AND STOPPED WORKING. THE FIRST TIME IT HAPPENED, I THOUGHT IT MIGHT JUST BE OFF TRACK, BUT I WAS TOLD BY A REPAIR SHOP IT IS A FAULTY REGULATOR THAT JEEP IS NOT DOING A RECALL FOR. WITH THE 2ND WINDOW, I KNEW IMMEDIATELY WHAT HAD HAPPENED. I CURRENTLY HAVE A THIRD WINDOW THAT IS MAKING ODD NOISES WHEN I TRY TO USE IT. *TR
ALL FOUR WINDOW REGULATORS HAVE FAILED ON MY 2007 JEEP LIBERTY. IT WAS PURCHASED BRAND NEW. *TR
2007 JEEP LIBERTY. TO DATE WE HAVE REPLACED ALL 4-WINDOW REGULATORS DUE TO BECOMING INOPERATIVE OR STICKING. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE DRIVER SIDE BRAKE LIGHT FAILED INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER MADE SIX ATTEMPTS TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO PRIVATE MECHANIC WHO WAS ALSO UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. IN ADDITION, THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WINDOW REGULATORS WERE FAULTY AND SHE WAS UNABLE TO CLOSE THE WINDOWS ONCE THEY HAD BEEN OPENED. THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW WAS REPLACED TWICE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT NO REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 98,120 AND THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,000.
REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW SUDDENLY DROPPED OFF THE TRACK WHILE DRIVING. AN INFANT WAS IN A CAR SEAT ON THAT SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED DEBRIS TO ENTER VEHICLE. THIS IS THE FOURTH INCIDENT OF A POWER WINDOW SUDDENLY FALLING FOR THIS VEHICLE. DEALER STATES THAT WINDOW REGULATORS ARE POORLY DESIGNED. A REPLACEMENT DESIGN IS NOT AVAILABLE. *TR
COMPONENT: VISIBILITY:POWER WINDOW DEVICES AND CONTROLS DETAILS: THE WINDOW REGULATOR IN MY JEEP GOES OUT IT IS A MANUFACTURER DEFECT IN THE MAKING OF THE VEHICLE, IT HAS ALREADY HAPPENED TO MY VEHICLE 3 TIMES IN 8 MONTHS AND GM REFUSES TO RECALL IT. IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE BECAUSE THE WINDOW JUST FALL OUT OF TRAC K. COST IS NOT AFFORDABLE EACH TIME @ $500 TO FIX IT. ALSO THE FIX IS TOTAL REPLACEMENT OF PARTS AND WINDOW GLASS BECAUSE THE WINDOW GLASS WILL NOT FIT THE NEW PARTS? UM THEN MAYBE IT SHOULD BE RECALLED BECAUSE THEY KNOW IF IT IS FIXED WITH THE SAME PARTS IT WILL NOT STAY FIXED!!!!!!! *TR
DRIVERS SIDE AND PASSENGER SIDE ELECTRIC WINDOWS WOULD STALL AND DRAG WHILE BEING PUT UP. JEEP REPLACED PARTS AND FIXED THE ISSUE WITH NO CHARGE. MY JEEP IS NOT QUITE 2 YEARS OLD AND HAS 32,000 MILES. THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW HAS BEEN USED MORE (AS YOU CAN IMAGINE) AND IT HAS BEEN GETTING PROGRESSIVELY WORSE FOR 6 MONTHS OR SO. I ALSO HAD TO HAVE A TRANSMISSION REGULATOR PUT IN WHEN THE CAR WAS NEW. IT WAS SHIFTING ROUGH.... *TR
I RECENTLY WROTE ABOUT MY WINDOW REGULATOR COMPLAINTS BUT OMITTED THE PROBABLY MOST IMPORTANT ISSUE. I KNOW OF SEVERAL INCIDENTS INVOLVING SHATTERED GLASS MAKING ITS WAY INTO THE CABIN OF THE VEHICLE. FORTUNATELY THIS HASN'T HAPPENED TO ME (YET) BECAUSE I WAS TRAVELING AT SLOWER SPEEDS. EVEN SO, COMING OUT TO YOUR VEHICLE WHILE ON VACATION AND FINDING THE WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED WHILE PARKED CERTAINLY RUINS YOUR DAY. ESPECIALLY IF IT'S EXTREMELY COLD OR HOT OUTSIDE.
I BOUGHT MY LIBERTY WHEN IT WAS A YEAR OLD FROM A DEALER. ONE MONTH LATER, THE DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW FELL INTO THE DOOR. IT WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY, THE DEALER FIXED IT WITH NEW PARTS. A YEAR AGO IN JUNE 2012 THE REAR WINDOW DROPPED INTO THE DOOR. THE REAR WINDOWS ARE NEVER EVEN USED. I HAD TO PAY A MECHANIC TO RAISE IT UP AND HOLD IT UP WITH DUCK TAPE BECAUSE THE REGULATOR AND REPAIR IS GOING TO COST OVER $400.00!!THE WINDOW WOULD SLOWLY START TO DROP BEFORE IT FINALLY WENT INTO THE DOOR COMPLETELY WHEN I WAS DRIVING AND THE NOISE FROM THE OUTSIDE WAS SO LOUD I THOUGHT I WAS HAVING A FLAT TIRE AND HAD TO PULL OVER. NOT TO MENTION THE CONSTANT ATTENTION I HAD TO PAY TO MAKE SURE THE WINDOW WAS STILL BEING HELD UP WITH THE AWFUL LOOKING DUCT TAPE! SO ANGRY AND DISAPPOINTED WITH CHRYSLER. I READ ONLINE OF SO MANY OTHER OWNERS HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM. I COULD NEVER RISK PUTTING A CHILD BACK THERE BECAUSE OF THIS RISKY PROBLEM. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP LIBERTY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER SIDE REAR WINDOW FELL DOWN IN BETWEEN THE DOOR AND WILL NOT COME BACK UP. THIS PREVENTED THE DOOR FROM OPENING. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN BECAUSE THE GLASS WAS LODGED BETWEEN THE DOOR. THE DEALER REPAIRED THE DOOR, BUT NOT THE WINDOW. THREE WEEKS LATER, THE REMAINING THREE WINDOWS FAILED AS WELL AND PREVENTED THE DOORS FROM OPENING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY STATED THAT THE WARRANTY ON THE WINDOWS WERE 35,000 MILES AND THE VEHICLE HAS 35,400 MILES. THE DEALER REPAIRED ALL OF THE DOORS FOR FREE, BUT WOULD NOT REPAIR THE WINDOWS. CURRENTLY, ALL OF THE WINDOWS ARE DOWN AND WILL COST $580 TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,400.
WINDOW REGULATORS FAIL IN 2007 JEEP LIBERTY. FIRST PASSENGER SIDE REAR WINDOW REGULATOR WENT OUT DURING WARRANTY PERIOD. DEALERSHIP REPLACED IT. THEN JUST AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRED, REGULATOR ON DRIVERS SIDE REAR WINDOW WENT OUT... SEEMS TO BE A DESIGN PROBLEM. VEHICLE SHOULD BE RECALLED AND REPAIRED!! *TR
VEHICLE HAS 25000 MILES AND HAS HAD FOUR POWER WINDOW REGULATORS BREAK, TWO OF WHICH WERE THE SAME WINDOW. VEHICLE TRANSMISSION ALSO SHIFTS VERY HARD BETWEEN 1700 AND 2100 RPM. REGULATORS WERE REPLACED ON WARRANTY, BUT I FEAR AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRES THIS WILL BE VERY EXPENSIVE. HAVE HAD NO LUCK GETTING TRANSMISSION FIXED, EVERYTIME I TAKE IT IN FOR REPAIRS, I'M TOLD THEY CAN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. *TR
I HAVE HAD MY WINDOWS FALL AND NOT GO BACK UP 5 DIFFERENT TIMES SINCE I HAVE OWNED MY 2007 JEEP LIBERTY,NOV 2007. EVERY TIME I TAKE IT IN AND GET IT FIXED THE DEALER SAYS THEY HOPE THIS TIME WILL BE THE LAST. ONE TIME WHEN THE LEFT REAR WINDOW FELL THE DOOR WOULD NOT OPEN BECAUSE OF THE PRESSURE FROM THE BROKEN WINDOW MOTOR. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS SINCE THE WINDOW WILL NOT STAY UP. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. I ALSO HAVE SEVERAL STAINS ON MY STAIN RESISTANT SEATS FROM WATER, RAIN AND BOTTLED WATER WHICH IS NOT DIRTY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WINDOW FELL DOWN INTO THE DOOR PANEL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE WINDOW REGULATOR WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE OCCURRED FIVE ADDITIONAL TIMES ON DIFFERENT WINDOWS AND REPLACED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 1,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 32,000. UPDATED 01/11/11*LJ
LEFT SIDE POWER WINDOWS FALL TO FULL OPEN POSITION. THIS POSES A SAFETY HAZARD DRIVING WITH WINDOW FULL OPEN AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS. WON'T RETURN TO CLOSED WITH POWER WINDOW SWITCH. THIS HAS OCCURRED FOUR TIMES WITH EITHER DRIVERS WINDOW OR PASSENGER WINDOWS. REQUIRES REPLACEMENT OF POWER WINDOW REGULATOR AT DEALER. *TR
THE FRONT DRIVER WINDOW GOES UP CROOKED AND HAS TO BE LET DOWN AND UP SEVERAL TIMES TO MAKE IT GO UP CORRECTLY. THE POWER WINDOWS ON MY JEEP LIBERTY MADE A POP WHEN GOING UP AND THE WINDOW FAILED TO SHUT (BACK PASSENGER); I HAD TO MANUALLY LODGE IT UP. A FEW HOURS LATER THE RIGHT PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW DID THE SAME THING; HOWEVER, IT ALSO MADE THE DOOR UN-OPERABLE LOCKING MY CHILD IN WHICH REQUIRED HIM TO GO OUT THE OTHER DOOR. IF THERE HAD BEEN A WRECK MY CHILD COULD HAVE BEEN TRAPPED INSIDE. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND THEY SAID THEY FIXED THE PROBLEM STATING THE REGULATORS AND MOTORS NEEDED REPLACING. I ASKED THEM WHAT CAUSED THE DOOR TO LOCK AND THEY SAID THE CABLE PULLEY WHICH CONTROLS THE WINDOWS WRAPPED AROUND THE LOCKING MECHANISM AND FROZE THE DOOR. WELL A FEW MONTHS HAVE PASSED AND THE WINDOWS ARE ONCE AGAIN HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. I WAS TOLD IT WOULD COST SEVERAL HUNDRED DOLLARS TO FIX THESE ITEMS THOUGH THEY HAD PREVIOUSLY WORKED ON THEM. I HAVE RELOCATED FROM GA TO VA AND WOULD NOT HAVE THE SAME DEALER. WHEN THESE WINDOWS FALL WHILE DRIVING IT STARTLES YOU TO THE POINT OF PANIC BECAUSE THE REAR WINDOWS MAKES A FUNNY SOUND WHEN DOWN (THE WAY THE AIR CURRENT HITS THE CAR); WHICH CAN BE QUITE DISTRACTING. I HOPE YOU WILL DEAL WITH THIS PROBLEM SO IT DOESN'T CAUSE A SERIOUS PROBLEM WITH THOSE NOT EXPECTING IT. ANOTHER PROBLEM WHEN DRIVING IF YOU HIT THE GAS IT SOUNDS LIKE THE BACK END SLIPS AND WILL NOT GO OR WILL JUST JERK AND SLIP ON THE ROADWAY. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP LIBERTY. ALL THE WINDOWS IN THE VEHICLE KEPT FALLING WITHIN THE DOOR FRAME. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER SEVERAL TIMES TO REPLACE BROKEN REGULATOR CABLES AT THE CONTACT'S EXPENSE. THE CONTACT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER WHO STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RELATED RECALLS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.
WINDOW REGULATORS ON MY JEEP LIBERTY REPEATEDLY FAILING. I'VE HAD TO HAVE THE REGULATORS REPAIRED FIVE TIMES ON A 2007 VEHICLE. WINDOWS FALL DOWN WHILE DRIVING IN THE VEHICLE AND WON'T ROLL BACK UP. I'VE CONTACTED LOCAL DEALERS AND THEY ARE ALSO FRUSTRATED AND SAID JEEP WON'T RECALL THE VEHICLES AND CREATE A PERMANENT FIX. I ALSO CONTACTED CHRYSLER CORPORATION AND THEY WERE NOT HELPFUL TO ME -- THEY SHIFTED FOCUS TO THE DEALER. ALSO, LIKE THE OTHER POST, MY CAR HAD WATER ON THE SEAT AND IT CREATED A PERMANENT BROWN STAIN. IT WAS BOTTLED WATER. THE SEATS ARE SUPPOSED TO BE STAIN RESISTANT AND THEY ARE NOT. CHRYSLER IS NOT STANDING BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS, THE SEATS AND THE WINDOW REGULATORS ARE DEFECTIVE! *TR
ALL OF MY POWER WINDOWS HAVE FALLEN INTO THE DOOR AT ONE POINT OR ANOTHER OVER THE PAST YEAR AND A HALF. JEEP HAS FIXED THIS ISSUE EACH TIME, BUT THEY FIX THE ISSUE WITH THE SAME PARTS THAT ARE DEFECTIVE SO IT IS INEVITABLE THAT IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN. THIS IS CLEARLY FAULTY CRAFTSMANSHIP AND NEEDS TO BE RECALLED BY THE MANUFACTURER. *TR
VEHICLE PARKED AND UNOCCUPIED OVER 8 HOURS WHEN FIRE STARTED, NO PRIOR PROBLEMS WITH THE CAR. ROBIN SKLAR IS SUBMITTING CLAIM ON BEHALF OF THE OWNER DAWN GIBBS PURSUANT TO AN INSURANCE CLAIM. THE VEHICLE WAS TOTALED DUE TO THE FIRE. OUR FORENSICS EXPERT OPINES THE CAUSE WAS ELECTRICAL IN NATURE. WE ARE SEEKING RECOVERY DUE TO A POSSIBLE DEFECT. *TR
LEFT REAR WINDOW HAS FAILED 3 TIMES (9/5/08, 6/17/10, 10/16/11) AND ALL THREE TIMES THE REGULATOR HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE RIGHT REAR WINDOW HAS FAILED ONCE (8/29/09) AND THE REGULATOR HAD TO BE REPLACED. ALL 4 TIMES, THE CAR WAS PARKED AND I FOUND THE WINDOW DOWN AND WAS UNABLE TO GET IT BACK UP. THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE AS I HAVE YOUNG CHILDREN IN THE BACK AND USE THE WINDOW LOCK SO THEY ARE UNABLE TO OPEN THE WINDOW. HAVING AN UNRELIABLE WINDOW THAT CAN FALL DOWN AT ANY TIME IS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE FOR ANYONE WITH PASSENGERS IN THE BACK. I HAVE COMPLAINED TO CHRYSLER AND THEY HAVE EXTENDED THE WARRANTY FOR THE WINDOW LIFT PLATE BUT NOT THE REGULATOR. THERE IS A NEED FOR A PERMANENT FIX FOR THIS. I AM TIRED OF MY REGULAR TRIPS TO THE DEALER TO GET THIS FIXED. CONSUMERS SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET TO GET THIS FIXED. *TR
WINDOWS KEEP FALLING, HAD TO DRIVE HOME AND USE ALTERNATE VEHICLE BECAUSE THE CAR WAS EXPOSED WITH THE WINDOW DOWN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 JEEP LIBERTY. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, THE CONTACT HEARD A LOUD BANGING SOUND NEAR THE REAR SEATS IN THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT DISCOVERED THAT THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE WINDOW HAD SUDDENLY DROPPED DOWN INTO THE DOOR PANEL. THE FAILURE PREVIOUSLY OCCURRED ON ALL FOUR SIDE WINDOWS FOR WHICH THE DEALER STATED THAT THE WINDOW LIFT PLATES AND/OR LIFT REGULATORS MALFUNCTIONED. THE WINDOWS WERE REPAIRED EACH TIME, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED FOR THE SAME FAILURE ON EIGHT SEPARATE OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,000.
THE ABS TRACTION CONTROL SENSOR HAVE FAILED CAUSING THEM TO STOP WORKING. THE WINDOW REGULATORS HAVE ALL FAILED CAUSING THEM TO BE REPLACED. THE WINDOWS DID NOT FAIL ALL AT THE SAME TIME. EACH ONE ABOUT 2 MONTHS APART. *TR
I PURCHASED VEHICLE AUG 2008 WITH 7500 MILES ON IT. FROM THAT TIME TO CURRENT DATE, FUEL SPILLS OUT WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK FULL. SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASE, THE FIRST OF 3 OCCURRENCES OF THE REAR WINDOWS FALLING HAPPENED. THE DEALERSHIP REPAIRED THE FIRST ONE, THE SECOND ONE I HAD TO PAY $100 DEDUCTIBLE TO HAVE MY EXTENDED WARRANTY COVER THE COST TO THE SAME DEALERSHIP. NOW THE FIRST ONE IS BROKE AGAIN, COSTING ME ANOTHER $100 DEDUCTIBLE. IN ADDITION, IN THE PAST WEEK I HAVE SPENT OVER $600 TO REPLACE THE IGNITION SWITCH (VEHICLE WOULD ONLY START USING MY REMOTE START) AND PROBLEMS WITH THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. I HAD THE SPARK PLUGS AND COILS CHANGED, INJECTORS CLEANED, COMPRESSION CHECKED, INTAKE AND CARBON CLEANER RUN THROUGH ENGINE, AND COMPLETE OIL CHANGE. THIS DOESN'T INCLUDE THE $600 I SPENT TODAY FOR NEW TIRES ALSO SPENT $140 FOR A NEW BATTERY LAST YEAR. THE WINDOW SEAL STRIPS ON BOTH FRONT WINDOWS CONTINUE TO FALL OFF.. IT'S NOT OVER YET - VEHICLE IS IN THE SHOP NOW FOR THE ENGINE LIGHT. WHO KNOWS HOW MUCH IT WILL COST ME. CHRYSLER NEEDS TO BE ACCOUNTABLE FOR THEIR NEGLIGENCE IN PUTTING VEHICLES LIKE THIS ON THE MARKET. I HOPE A SERIOUS INJURY OR FATALITY DOESN'T HAVE TO HAPPEN TO GET THEIR ATTENTION. I HAVEN'T EVEN ADDRESSED THE SAFETY RECALL NOTICE I RECENTLY RECEIVED. VEHICLE CURRENTLY HAS 58,000 MILES ON IT. *TT
IN THE PAST 4-5 MONTHS I HAVE HAD 2 WINDOWS (PASSENGER REAR AND FRONT) FALL DOWN. ALSO THE DRIVER REAR JUST QUIT WORKING BUT DID NOT FALL. THE LATEST WAS THE PASSENGER FRONT THAT FELL AT NIGHT WHILE ON VACATION WHICH RESULTED IN IT RAINING IN THE VEHICLE. EACH TIME IT HAS BEEN THE WINDOW REGULATOR THAT WAS REPLACED. *TR
1: REGULAR USE OF WINDOWS 2: PLASTIC CLIP BREAKS HOLDING WINDOW TO TRACK. HAS HAPPENED 5 TIMES SINCE 2007. WINDOW FALLS INTO DOOR. 3: DEALER REPLACES WITH SAME WINDOW REGULATOR THAT WILL BREAK AGAIN. *TR
AFTER MINIMAL USE OF THE REAR WINDOWS ON MY 2007 JEEP LIBERTY I HAVE HAD 3 FAILURES. I BOUGHT THE JEEP IN JANUARY 2007 AND HAD NO PROBLEMS UNTIL AUGUST 2008. AT THAT POINT I HAD THE DRIVERS REAR WINDOW REPAIRED DUE TO THE INADEQUATE WINDOW MECHANISM. IN JULY 2008 THE PASSENGER REAR WINDOW WENT DOWN FOR THE SAME ISSUE. I WAS TOLD THAT THE REPAIRS WERE BEING COMPLETED WITH A HIGHER QUALITY SYSTEM SO THAT IT WOULD NOT BE A PROBLEM IN THE FUTURE. IN AUGUST 2008 THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE WINDOW BROKE AGAIN. AT THIS POINT I HAVE HAD TO LEAVE WORK 3 TIMES TO GET REPAIRS ON MY WINDOWS. THE DEALERSHIP THIS TIME TOLD ME THAT JEEP IS NOT PROVIDING A BETTER SOLUTION TO FIXING THE WINDOWS. WINDOW REGULATOR,THE POWER WINDOW REGULATOR BROKE WHILE I WAS DRIVING,AND THE WINDOW ALMOST BROKE.NO ONE WAS TOUCHING THE WINDOW BUTTON. I BROUGHT MY JEEP LIBERTY TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE PROBLEM FIXED. THE VEHICLE WAS UNDER WARRANTY STILL BUT AS IT TURNS OUT THE ORIGINAL REGULATOR IS NO LONGER AVAILABLE AND THE NEW REGULATOR WONT FIT ON MY EXISTING WINDOW. SO THE DEALER SAID THE WARRANTY WOULD COVER THE COST OF THE REGULATOR BUT I HAD TO PAY FOR THE NEW WINDOW AND LABOR,WHICH COST ME ABOUT 200. DOLLARSTHE WHOLE BILL WAS AROUND 454 DOLLARS. I HAVE HEARD OF SEVERAL PEOPLE THAT OWN JEEP LIBERTY'S AND THEY HAVE ALSO HAD WINDOW REGULATOR PROBLEMS. 2007 JEEP LIBERTY WINDOW REGULATORS CONTINUALLY FAILING. MY PASSENGER FRONT WINDOW REGULATOR FAILED 6 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING THE CAR. THE DEALER REPLACED IT UNDER WARRANTY. NOW THE DRIVERS WINDOW WONT ROLL UP NORMALLY. IT GETS CROOKED IN THE TRACK WHEN ATTEMPTING TO ROLL IT UP. I HAVE TO PULL THE WINDOW UP WITH MY HAND WHILE PRESSING THE BUTTON AT THE SAME TIME. THE PASSENGER WINDOW HAS GOTTEN SLOW TO ROLL UP AGAIN. IT CAN TAKE 30 SECONDS TO ROLL UP AND YOU CAN HERE THE STRAIN ON ITS MOTOR. I AM AFRAID THAT THIS LOAD PUT ON THE REG MOTOR WILL EVENTUALLY CAUSE A FIRE SINCE IT IS PUT UNDER SUCH A TREMENDOUS STRAIN TO RAISE THE WINDOW. THE MECHANIC THAT REPLACED THE PASSENGER WINDOW REG. SAID THAT ALL JEEP LIBERTY WINDOW REGULATORS WILL FAIL DUE TO BAD DESIGN. HE REPLACES THEM ALL THE TIME (JOKINGLY HIS PARTNERS CALL HIM THE JEEP WINDOW MAN! ) HE ALSO STATED " YOU ARE LUCKY BECAUSE ALOT OF WINDOW REGS THAT FAIL CAUSE THE WINDOW TO SUDDENLY DROP OFF THE TRACK AND FALL DOWN INTO THE DOOR AND USUALLY SHATTER. A CO-WORKER OF MINE HAD THIS HAPPEN WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY. WINDOW WAS UP AND SUDDENLY DROPPED DOWN AND SHATTERED INSIDE THE DOOR SCARING HIM TO DEATH. THIS WIDE SPREAD COMPLAINT BY MOST JEEP LIBERTY OWNERS HAD GONE IGNORED BY JEEP AND THEY ARE PROFITING LARGELY FROM IT. WITH THE AVERAGE FIX COSTING AROUND $400 PER WINDOW AND MOST OWNERS ARE REPLACING MULTIPLE WINDOWS, REGULATORS, THIS IS ALONG THE SAME LINES AS THE CURRENT TOYOTA RECALLS GOING ON. ALL TRYING TO MAKE CHEAP PARTS AND REAP THE BENEFITS OF INCREASED PARTS SALES. I AM AFRAID TO ROLL DOWN ANY OF MY WINDOWS AND THIS COULD BE DEADLY IF A FIRE WERE TO OCCUR. I HAD TO GET TWO WINDOW REGULATORS REPLACED IN MY 2007 JEEP LIBERTY. THE JEEP HAS 19,000 MILES ON IT WHEN THE FIRST WAS REPLACED. ANOTHER WAS DONE AT 30,000. I AM NOW AT 32,000 AND THE ONE THE WAS REPLACED AT 19,000 IS BAD AGAIN. THE DEALERSHIP IS QUICK TO REPLACE THE REGULATORS, AND I'VE BEEN TOLD DIRECTLY FRONT HE DEALERSHIP THAT THESE ARE A COMMON PROBLEM. MY WARRANTY RUNS OUT IN 3,000 MILES AND THEN IT WILL COST ME 79 FOR THE PART, PLUS THE LABOR OF HAVING IT INSTALLED EVERYTIME ONE GOES BAD. THE JEEP BRAND SHOULD BE LOOKING INTO THE ISSUE INSTEAD OF SIMPLY REPLACING THEM WHEN THEY GO BAD. TYPICALLY WHEN THEY STOP WORKING, THE WINDOW WILL EITHER FALL, OR GET STUCK DOWN. THE FRONT END OF THE VEHICLE MADE A GRINDING NOISE, THE RADIO WAS HOT TO THE TOUCH, AND THE CEILING LIGHT SUDDENLY ILLUMINATED WHILE OPERATING THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,000.

THE REPAIRS WERE MADE HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED AN ADDITIONAL SIX TIMES AT LEAST ON EACH POWER WINDOW IN THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE HAD BEEN REPAIRED AT LEAST SIX TIMES FOR THE WINDOW REGULATOR. THROUGH INTERNET RESEARCH, THE CONTACT DISCOVERED TWO RECALLS THAT MAY PERTAIN TO THE FAILURE (NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBERS 06V493000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:ANTILOCK:CONTROL UNIT/MODULE ) AND 06V341000 (POWER TRAIN:AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION). HE TOOK THIS INFORMATION BACK TO THE DEALER AND THEY INFORMED HIM TO CALL NHTSA AND FILE A COMPLAINT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,193 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 7,055. UPDATED 7/3/08 *CN THE CONSUMERS SON WAS DRIVING, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN, THE RIGHT FRONT TIRE BLEW OUT. THE DEALER REPLACED THE LOWER CONTROL ARM, STEERING KNUCKLE, BALL JOINTS AND THE INNER AND OUTER TIE ROD ENDS. UPDATED 07/03/08
WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK THE SENSOR THAT INDICATES THE TANK IS FULL IS DEFECTIVE. WHEN IT SHUTS OFF THE GAS PUMP, GAS SPEWS OUT OF THE TANK HEAVILY, GETTING ON AUTO, GROUND AND PERSON. I SPOKE TO CHRYSLER ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AND THEY SAID THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS DEFECT BUT HAVE NOT ISSUED A RECALL. THEY FURTHER ADVISED THAT I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR ALL REPAIR EXPENSES IF I CHOOSE TO HAVE THE TANK REPLACED. THIS IS A SERIOUS DEFECT THAT CHRYSLER SHOULD FIX. THE JEEP LIBERTY HAS POORLY DESIGNED GAS TANKS, THEY SPEW GAS UPON FILLING AND CATCH FIRE UPON REAR IMPACT. CHRYSLER SHOULD BE MADE TO CORRECT THESE ISSUES AND STOP OFFERING PATCHES, I. E. HITCHES THAT HELP PROTECT GAS TANKS IN REAR CONTACT/IMPACT UNDER 40 MPH, THAT DON'T PROTECT THE CONSUMER FROM SERIOUS BODILY HARM AND/OR DEATH. THESE RISK NEED TO ELIMINATED, NOT PACIFIED! *TR

WE HAVE A NEW 2007 JEEP LIBERTY LIMITED, PURCHASED LAST MARCH. IMMEDIATELY WE NOTICED THAT THE SPEEDOMETER WAS INACCURATE AND ALWAYS READING FAST. THIS WAS NOTICEABLY EVIDENT AS WE PASSED THROUGH SAFETY AND SCHOOL ZONES THAT SHOW THE CAR SPEED ON THE ROADSIDE. I HAD THE DEALER CHECK IT OUT AND THEY COULDN'T FIND ANY PROBLEMS. SO WE STARTED MEASURING USING ROADSIDE MILEAGE MARKERS AND A TIMER. WE FOUND THAT AT 60 MILES/HOUR IT TOOK 315 SECONDS TO GO 5 MILES. THAT'S 5% @ 60 MPH OR 3 MPH. WE ALSO FOUND THAT IT WAS ALSO OFF BY 3 MPH AT ALL OTHER SPEEDS TOO, SO AT 30 MPH THAT TURNED OUT TO BE 10%. THAT'S UNACCEPTABLE ! HOWEVER CHRYSLER SAYS THAT'S ACCEPTABLE AND IN FACT POINTS OUT IN A PRINTED REPLY THAT THE GOVERNMENT ALLOWS THAT DEGREE OF ACCURACY NOW ASSUMING MY AVERAGE SPEED IS ABOUT 45 MPH, 3 MPH IS A 7.5% INACCURACY. I ALSO PURCHASED A LONG TERM WARRANTY AGREEMENT FROM CHRYSLER AND I WILL BE SHORT CHANGED ON THAT BY 7.5% ALSO AND THAT'S FRAUD! ALL I WANT IS FOR THE CHRYSLER TO FIX THE ALGORITHM THAT COMPUTES THE SPEED AND ODOMETER READING. THE ONLY VARIABLE THE DEALER CAN ADJUST IS THE TIRE SIZE. WHEN THE DRIVER APPROACHED A STOP SIGN, SHE NOTICED THAT THE BRAKES WERE NOT WORKING PROPERLY. THE BRAKES THEN COMPLETELY FAILED AND THE VEHICLE FELT AS IF IT WERE ACCELERATING, CAUSING HER TO CRASH INTO ANOTHER VEHICLE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS STILL ABLE TO BE DRIVEN, BUT THE BRAKES BARELY WORK. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE RECALL NUMBER WAS UNKNOWN. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 9,000.
I WAS DRIVING ALONG IN MY 2007 JEEP LIBERTY AT 34 M.P.H. WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THERE WAS A HORRIBLE NOISE AND THE RIGHT SIDE OF MY CAR FELL TO THE GROUND. I TRIED TO STEER SAFELY OFF THE ROAD AND FOUND THE CAR ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER AND I WAS HEADING INTO ON-COMING TRAFFIC. I COULD HAVE BEEN INJURED OR KILLED AND I HAD TWO PASSENGERS IN MY CAR WHO WITNESSED THE SUDDEN FAILURE OF MY BRAND NEW 8 MONTH OLD CAR! IT APPEARS THAT MY LOWER RIGHT BALL JOINT FELL OUT AND BROKE MY CAR TO THE POINT MY TIRE CAME OFF MY RIM AS MY RIM BROKE WHEN THE CAR FELL TO THE GROUND. WE BOUGHT OUR 2007 JEEP LIBERTY LIMITED IN NOVEMBER 2007, IN THE FIRST 6 MONTHS WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER TO HAVE THE WINDOWS FIXED 3 TIMES AS THEY KEPT FALLING OFF THE TRACKS. FIRST IT WAS THE PASSENGER FRONT WINDOW, SECOND WAS THE DRIVERS WINDOW, AND THE THIRD TIME WAS BOTH REAR WINDOWS. ON ALL 3 OCCASIONS WE TOOK THE VEHICLE IN FOR SERVICING OF THE WINDOWS, THE WINDOW MOTORS WERE REPLACED AND THE TRACKS WERE EITHER CLEANED OR REPLACED. I NOTIFIED JEEP OF THE TROUBLES I WAS HAVING WITH THE WINDOWS REGARDLESS OF THE REPAIRS ALREADY DONE AND WAS ADVISED THAT THERE WAS NO RECALL ON SUCH ISSUES AS IT DID NOT IMPOSE A SAFETY THREAT. ON ONE SUCH INCIDENT WHEN ONE OF THE REAR PASSENGER WINDOWS FELL OFF IT'S TRACK, MY 3 MONTH OLD SON WAS SITTING IN HIS CAR SEAT NEXT TO THE WINDOW, NORMALLY THIS MAY NOT HAVE IMPOSED ANY SAFETY THREAT TO HIM EXCEPT THAT WE HAPPENED TO BE TRAVELING AT A TIME WHEN THERE WAS A HUGE EXTREMELY WINDY MONSOON STORM IN PROCESS...I BEG TO DIFFER THAT THIS DID NOT IMPOSE A POSSIBLY EXTREMELY DANGEROUS SAFETY SITUATION FOR MY 3 MONTH OLD BABY AS HE WAS PELTED BY HEAVY RAIN AND WIND UNTIL I COULD REACH A DESTINATION TO GET HIM TO SAFETY.
