THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRAME IS COMPLETELY RUSTED OUT AFTER ONLY SIX YEARS OF DRIVING.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP PATRIOT FWD. WHILE PLACING FUEL INTO THE VEHICLE, FUEL SPEWED OUT. IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE FILLER NECK VALVE WAS OPEN AND ALLOWED FUEL TO SPLASH BACK. DUE TO THE FAILURE, IT TOOK APPROXIMATELY TWENTY MINUTES TO FUEL THE VEHICLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 46,141.
I CANNOT PUT FUEL INTO THE VEHICLE WITHOUT IT CONTINUOUSLY SHUTTING THE GAS OFF AFTER A FEW SECONDS. I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT THE ENTIRE GAS TANK NEEDS TO BE REPLACED. I FOUND A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN (TSB 14-001-09 REV.A) THAT ADDRESSES THE EXACT SAME ISSUE WITH OTHER CHRYSLER AUTOMOBILES, BUT THE 2009 JEEP PATRIOT IS NOT INCLUDED. MY ONLINE RESEARCH HAS UNCOVERED OTHER JEEP PATRIOT OWNERS WHO HAVE EXPERIENCED THE EXACT SAME ISSUE WITH NO RECOURSE BUT TO PAY OUT-OF-POCKET FOR A NEW FUEL TANK. I HAVE BEEN QUOTED $1400.00 TO HAVE THE FUEL TANK REPLACED. I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY CHRYSLER JEEP IS NOT TAKING RESPONSIBILITY FOR THIS ISSUE WITH THE 2009 PATRIOT. I WOULD BE INTERESTED IN KNOWING HOW MANY JEEP PATRIOT OWNERS HAD TO HAVE THEIR GAS TANKS REPLACED AND IF CHRYSLER JEEP HAS REPAIR RECORDS OF GAS TANK REPLACEMENTS DONE IN THEIR REPAIR SHOPS. WHAT HAPPENS IF SOMEONE CANNOT AFFORD TO HAVE THIS FIXED?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP PATRIOT. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED, AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS, THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO RESTART. THE FAILURE RECURRED MULTIPLE TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE POWER CONTROL MODULE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 68,000.
EVERY TIME IT RAINS OUTSIDE WATER LEAKS THREW THE MAP LIGHTS LIKE A RUNNING FAUCET.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO HAVE THE TIRES REPLACED WHEN THE MECHANIC DISCOVERED THAT BOTH THE FRONT LOWER BALL JOINTS FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MECHANIC INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE BALL JOINTS CAUSED THE TIRES TO BECOME DAMAGED AND WORN. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 20,000.
WHEN DRIVING MY 2009 JEEP PATRIOT AT APPROX. 25 MPH, I HEARD A 'POP' SOUND FROM NEAR THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE WHEEL. I VISUALLY INSPECTED AND IT APPEARED PART OF MY FRAME HAD CRACKED. I TOOK IT TO A SHOP, AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE ENTIRE SUBFRAME/CROSSMEMBER/KFRAME HAD RUSTED THROUGH, ENTIRELY, AS WELL AS THE CONTROL ARMS. I TOOK IT TO A JEEP DEALER, AND THEY CONFIRMED. AFTER CONTACTING CHYRSLER AND SUBMITTING A CASE, THE DEALER SEND DIGITAL IMAGES OF THE AFFECTED PARTS TO CHRYSLER. CHRYSLER SAID THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO SINCE IT WAS MORE LIKELY THAN NOT CORROSION FROM ROAD SALT. BOTH THE MECHANIC AND THE DEALER TOLD ME THE JEEP WAS UNSAFE TO DRIVE. THERE WAS A RECALL OF MORE THAN 130,000 2006 AND 2007 JEEP LIBERTY'S FOR THIS SAME ISSUE (UNDERCARRIAGE CORROSION DUE TO SALT). HOW CAN A COMPANY REASONABLY THINK IT IS ACCEPTABLE FOR A 6 YEAR OLD VEHICLE WITH APPROXIMATELY 85,000 MILES TO RUST THROUGH AN INTEGRAL PART OF THE BODY/STRUCTURE? I HAVE A FAMILY, AND HAD THIS PIECE SNAPPED WHILE ON THE HIGHWAY AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED, I COULD HAVE KILLED THEM AND OTHERS. I HAD THE VEHICLE FIXED, BUT WILL BE PURSUING FURTHER ACTION.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WAS EXCESSIVE CORROSION TO THE K-FRAME CROSS MEMBER TO WHICH THE CONTROL ARM WAS BOLTED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INSPECTED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 88,000.
DURING HIGHWAY DRIVING AT A SUSTAINED SPEED OF HIGH RPMS, THE TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURE WARNING LIGHT COMES ON. IF SPEED IS NOT REDUCED TO ALLOW THE TRANSMISSION TO COOL, THE CAR GOES INTO A SAFETY MODE AND SLOWS AUTOMATICALLY. A REPAIR SHOP PULLED THE CODES AND FOUND CODE P0218, HIGH TEMP OPERATION ACTIVATED. THIS PROBLEM OCCURS MULTIPLE TIMES ON ALMOST EVERY LONG HIGHWAY TRIP WHEN TRYING TO MAINTAIN SPEED GOING UP HILLS. THE INCREASED ACCELERATION KEEPS THE ENGINE OPERATING AT HIGH RPMS ABOVE 3000 FOR A SUSTAINED PERIOD OF TIME.
THIS BEAUTIFUL CONDITION JEEP PATRIOT 2009 HAS NOT RUST ANYWHERE BUT THE ENGINE CRADLE RUSTED OUT AND HAS HUGE RUST HOLES WHERE THE ENGINE CRADLE ONCE WAS. NOW I GET CLANKING AND CRACKING NOISES WHEN I DRIVE THE CAR AND BELIEVE THE RUSTED OUT ENGINE CRADLE IS THE ISSUE. SEARCHED WEB SITES AND SEEMS TO BE AN ISSUE ON OTHER YEARS FOR SIMILAR VEHICLES LIKE THE JEEP COMPASS WHICH SHARES THAT PLATFORM.
MY ABS, ESP BAS, AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS WENT ON ON MY DASH SHOWING THAT MY VEHICLES SAFETY FEATURES ARE DISABLED. I HAD JUST HAD THE SENSOR MODULE THAT CONTROLS THESE LIGHTS REPLACED BACK IN DECEMBER 2015 AT AN EXPENSE OF $1266. NOW 7 MONTHS LATER AND 6000 MILES LATER THE SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING AGAIN. THE DEALERSHIP WILL NOT COVER THE REPAIRS AGAIN UNDER WARRANTY AND CLAIM I WILL HAVE TO PAY AGAIN TO HAVE THE REPAIRS MADE. WHO KNOW HOW LONG THIS REPAIR WOULD LAST AS THE JEEP PARTS ARE OBVIOUSLY DEFECTIVE AND THEIR ARE MANY MORE COMPLAINTS ON-LINE ABOUT THEM. THERE IS NO DOUBT THAT THERE ARE A LOT OF JEEP OWNERS DRIVING AROUND WITH THEIR SAFETY CONTROLS DISABLED BECAUSE THEY CAN NOT AFFORD THESE COSTLY REPAIRS...OR CAN NOT AFFORD TO PAY FOR THEM MORE THEN ONCE! JEEP SHOULD HAVE TO HONOR THESE REPAIRS UNDER WARRANTY OR RECALL THE DEFECTIVE PARTS BEFORE SOMEONE GETS KILLED!

IN ADDITION, WHILE INSPECTING THE VEHICLE, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE REAR SUBFRAME WAS ALSO CORRODED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,636.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 JEEP PATRIOT 4X4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AN UNKNOWN WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND THE BRAKE PEDAL BECAME LOOSE. THE VEHICLE FAILED TO SLOW DOWN OR STOP AND THE RPMS INCREASED TO SEVEN AND THEN IMMEDIATELY TO ZERO. THE STEERING WHEEL SEIZED AND THE ENGINE STALLED. WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH, THE CONTACT CRASHED INTO AN UNKNOWN OBJECT ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO ROLL OVER. FOUR PASSENGERS SUSTAINED SHOULDER INJURIES AND LACERATIONS. THE CONTACT ALSO MENTIONED THAT THE FRONT DRIVER SIDE SEAT BELT FAILED TO TIGHTEN AND THE REAR PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT COMPLETELY DETACHED DURING THE CRASH. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 108,000.
THIS VEHICLE HAS BEEN PARKED INDOORS FOR MANY YEARS. NOW I PARK IT OUTSIDE. IT LEAKS HEAVILY AFTER A RAIN THROUGH THE DOME LIGHT FIXTURE AND THE HEAD LINER, THIS INTERNAL LEAK CAN SHORT OUT THE ELECTRICAL SYSTEM. THIS VEHICLE HAS A SUNROOF.
THE TRANSMISSION OVER HEATS AND THE SPEED SLOWS DOWN AUTOMATIC AND WILL CAUSE THE CAR TO STALL.THIS HAPPENS ON ALL LONG ROAD TRIPS. THE CHAIN DRIVE TRANSMISSION IS AT FAULT. JEEP COVERED THIS UP BY PUTTING CENSOR ON COOLING PART TO MASS THE REAL FAULT. THIS HAS HAPPEN THREE TIMES ALWAYS ON LONG MILEAGE TRIPS. THANK YOU

AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE FLIPPED MULTIPLE TIMES AND THE AIR BAGS FAILED TO DEPLOY. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED BRUISING THAT DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.

WHILE BEING SERVICED FOR THE BRAKES AND ROTORS, THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC DETERMINED THAT THE CRADLE, BOLT JOINTS, AND TIE RODS WERE SEVERELY RUSTED AND NEEDED REPLACEMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 91,000.
JEEP DEALER INDICATES THAT CONTROL ARMS NEED REPLACING DUE TO WORN BALL JOINTS. THE VEHICLE HAS APPROXIMATELY 40000 MILES. THIS IS PREMATURE WEAR. ALL FOUR TIRES, PERHAPS RELATEDLY, ALSO WORE PREMATURELY. (IN FACT, THE BALL JOINT ISSUE WAS DISCOVERED WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS IN FOR TIRE REPLACEMENT.) IF THE BALL JOINTS SEPARATE, CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE WOULD LIKELY BE LOST.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 111,000.

HAD A VERY NOTICEABLE VIBRATION WHILE DRIVING CAR. TOOK INTO DEALERSHIP AND MECHANIC WAS ABLE TO STICK HIS FINGERS THROUGH THE "K" FRAME AND NOTICED 3 GIANT HOLES IN THE FRAME FROM CORRODED METAL. UPON INVESTIGATION IT WAS NOTED THAT ON 5-19-14 THAT THE 2007 JEEP PATRIOT WAS RECALLED FOR THE EXACT SAME THING (23-012-14) DUE TO CORROSION OF THE K FRAME WHICH ENDED UP EXTENDING THE WARRANTY INDEFINITE. I CONTACTED CHRYSLER AND EXPLAINED MY FRUSTRATION WITH THE SITUATION AND ASKED THAT SINCE THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THE SAME EXACT SITUATION FOR THE 07 IF THERE WAS ANYTHING THEY COULD DO FOR ME. THEY PROCEEDED TO TELL ME THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO BECAUSE MY YEAR WAS NOT RECALLED EVEN THOUGH IT WAS THE SAME ISSUE. DUE TO THIS I WILL HAVE TO BUY A NEW VEHICLE ON SHORT NOTICE DUE TO THE SAFETY OF DRIVING MY FAMILY IN AN UNSAFE VEHICLE I BOUGHT BRAND NEW 6 YEARS AGO. I FEEL THAT CHRYSLER SHOULD TAKE RESPONSIBILITY FOR SOMETHING THEY DOCUMENTED AS A PROBLEM EVEN THOUGHT IT "ONLY AFFECTED" VEHICLES 2 YEARS PRIOR TO MINE INSTEAD OF JUST IGNORING THE CUSTOMER'S CONCERNS AND WORRIES. DUE TO THIS I WILL NEVER PURCHASE ANOTHER CHRYSLER VEHICLE FOR THE WAY THE TREAT THEIR CUSTOMERS. *TR

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 49,100.
CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON INDICATING INTAKE RUNNER VALVE STUCK OPEN, REPLACED ALL PARTS CHECKED BUTTERFLY'S ALL OK. ALSO X FRAME UNDER ENGINE RUSTED OUT. NO ACCIDENT YET.
WHENEVER IT TRAINS MY CAR LEAKS EITHER FROM THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD ON THROUGH THE MAP LIGHT IT IS VERY BAD I NORMALLY KEEP TOWELS IN THE CAR TO CATCH THE WATER BECAUSE IT HAS SHORT-CIRCUITED MY CONSOLE IT TAKES TIME FOR MY CONSOLE TO WORK IT GOES IN AND OUT OR SOMETIMES IT TAKES ABOUT A WEEK TO WORK AGAIN AND I DON'T LIKE DRIVING AT THAT POINT BECAUSE NOTHING COMES ON IT HAS CAUSED WATER STAINS ON THE ROOF INSIDE THE CAR AND THERE IS A MILDEW SMELL I HAVE HEARD OTHER OWNERS COMPLAIN ABOUT THE SAME THING I WILL MOST LIKELY HAVE TO REPLACE MY WHOLE CONSOLE I THINK THIS PROBLEM IS VERY DANGEROUS PLEASE FIX IT. IT EVEN LEAKS WHEN I GO THROUGH A CARWASH
THIS VEHICLE IS TOTAL JUNK. I JUST REPLACED THE UNDER CARRIAGE THAT HOLDS THE ENGINE UP BECAUSE IT RUSTED OUT. THIS SHOULD NOT RUST OUT FOR THE LIFETIME OF A VEHICLE. IN ADDITION, I HAVE REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION, THE ALTERNATOR, THE STARTER AND THE BALL JOINTS TWICE. THE SECOND TIME I REPLACED THE BALL JOINTS WAS DUE TO THE UNDER CARRIAGE RUSTING OUT. THIS VEHICLE IS 5 YEARS OLD AND DOES NOT HAVE 100,000 MILES ON IT. I HAVE REPEATEDLY COMPLAINED ABOUT THIS CAR TO DEAF EARS EVEN THOUGH THE SERVICE TECH AT THE DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THAT HE HAS REPLACED SEVERAL ALTERNATORS AND UNDER CARRIAGES ON THIS VEHICLE, CHRYSLER JEEP DOES NOT ACKNOWLEDGE A DEFECT. THE UNDER CARRIAGE IS A SAFETY HAZARD BECAUSE IF IT BREAKS THE DRIVER WILL LOSE CONTROL OF THE STEERING. I FIRMLY BELIEVE THE JEEP PATRIOT IS MANUFACTURED WITH INFERIOR PARTS AND CHRYSLER JEEP SHOULD RECALL THESE VEHICLES FOR THE UNDER CARRIAGE. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS VEHICLE TO ANYONE. I HAVE PUT OVER $4000.00 IN MAJOR REPAIRS INTO THIS CAR.
TOOK VEHICLE IN TO TIRE SHOP TO REPLACE TIRES. DURING INSPECTION, IT WAS NOTED THAT THE LOWER RIGHT CONTROL ARM WAS BROKEN. WHILE THAT MAY BE COMMON FOR A 5 YEAR OLD VEHICLE, THAT SHOULD NOT BE COMMON FOR A 39K MI VEHICLE THAT HAS SPENT THE MAJORITY OF ITS LIFE SITTING IN A DRIVEWAY OR GARAGE. MECHANICS AT SHOP STATED THAT IF IT WAS NOT REPLACED, VEHICLE SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN OVER 40 MPH DUE TO AN INCREASED LIKELIHOOD OF WHEEL SEPARATION AND DAMAGE TO VEHICLE/PERSONS IN VEHICLE. REPLACED RIGHT LOWER CONTROL ARM AND ALL FOUR TIRES, AS WELL AS RIGHT BALL JOINT WHERE CONTROL ARM CONNECTS AS RECOMMENDED BY SHOP. SAME ISSUES ARE RECURRING AGAIN 13K MILES LATER. ISSUES INCLUDE: LOOSE STEERING, POOR STEERING CONTROL OVER 55 MPH, ADDITIONAL WEAR ON FRONT TIRES AND BRAKES.
THERE IS A HORRIBLE LEAK FROM THE FRONT DOME LIGHT FIXTURE WHEN DRIVING IN THE RAIN. WATER POURS OUT FROM THE FIXTURE AS YOU ARE DRIVING. POURS. SEEMS TO BE A VERY COMMON ISSUE WITH JEEP PATRIOTS, AND JEEP REFUSES TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM. I'VE SEEN MANY COMPLAINTS FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM ON MANY WEB SITES ABOUT THIS SPECIFIC ISSUE, AND THE COMMON THEME IS THAT JEEP DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM, AND WON'T ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THIS MODEL. *TR
WATER LEAKED FROM MAP LIGHTS. LEAKED ONTO RADIO, CENTER CONSOLE. ONLY WAY TO STOP LEAK WAS TO SEAL SUNROOF. NOW WATER IS LEAKING FROM REAR SOME LIGHTS. MY JEEP CAME WITH A LIFETIME POWERTRAIN WARRANTY AT THE TIME I PURCHASED THE JEEP IN APRIL 2009. I WAS VERBALLY TOLD AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION CHECKED BEFORE 50,000 MILES. I HAVE TAKEN MY JEEP INTO A LOCAL DEALERSHIP A FEW TIMES OVER THE LAST FEW YEARS TO HAVE MINOR THINGS REPAIRED AND FOR NORMAL MAINTENANCE. AT THOSE TIMES I ASKED THE DEALERSHIP TO CHECK THE TRANSMISSION SO I COULD COMPLY WITH THE WARRANTY. I TOOK MY JEEP TO THE DEALERSHIP AGAIN ON 11/12/14 TO GET A MINOR PROBLEM FIXED AND I WAS TOLD THAT MY LIFETIME POWERTRAIN WARRANTY HAD EXPIRED. I WAS TOLD THAT SINCE I DID NOT BRING MY JEEP INTO THE DEALERSHIP ON THE 5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY OF PURCHASE (APRIL 2009 - APRIL 2014) TO HAVE THE TRANSMISSION INSPECTED, THAT I FAILED TO COMPLY WITH THE TERMS OF MY WARRANTY. I WAS NOT AWARE THAT I WAS REQUIRED TO BRING MY JEEP INTO THE DEALERSHIP IN APRIL 2014 FOR THE INSPECTION. I WAS TOLD THAT I COULD HAVE IT INSPECTED ANYTIME BEFORE 50,000 MILES, WHICH I DID MULTIPLE TIMES. I CALLED CHRYSLER AND WAS TOLD THAT THEY SHOULD HAVE SENT ME A NOTICE BY MAIL. I NEVER GOT SUCH A NOTICE. CHRYSLER FAILED TO PROPERLY NOTIFY ME AHEAD OF TIME TO HAVE MY TRANSMISSION INSPECTED BEFORE APRIL 2014. CHRYSLER TOLD ME THAT IT WAS ALL MY FAULT FOR NOT THOROUGHLY READING MY OWNERS MANUAL. THEY DENIED HAVING ANY RESPONSIBILITY IN THIS. ACCORDING TO CHRYSLER, IT IS NOT THEIR RESPONSIBILITY TO NOTIFY THEIR CUSTOMERS ABOUT SUCH THINGS. IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE CUSTOMER TO READ THROUGH THE OWNERS MANUAL AND REMEMBER TO SCHEDULE SERVICE 5 YEARS IN THE FUTURE. I AM UPSET WITH CHRYSLER OVER THIS. I RESEARCHED THE WEB AND FOUND MANY INCIDENTS OF BAD BALL JOINTS ON THIS VEHICLE WITH AN EXPLANATION FROM LOCAL DEALER SHOPS THAT THERE WAS A BAD BATCH INSTALLED INITIALLY. THE REPAIRS COST ME OVER $700 BECAUSE THE 3 YEAR WARRANTY HAD RUN OUT EVEN THOUGH THE MILEAGE IS STILL WITHIN RANGE. JEEP KNOWS ITS AN ISSUE AND HASN'T RESPONDED WITH A SAFETY RECALL. MY CAR STARTED MAKING A WHINING NOISE AND HAD PROBLEMS WITH ACCELERATION, LIKE THE GEARS WERE FINDING IT HARD TO LOCK IN PROPERLY. IT'S AN AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. AFTER THE SNOWSTORMS, I TOOK IT TO A CHAIN FRANCHISE TO CHECK IT OUT AND WAS TOLD THAT JEEP PUT A MERCEDES TRANSMISSION IN THE CAR, THAT IT'S NOT MEANT FOR THIS MAKE OR MODEL, THAT IT'S A DEFECT BECAUSE THE PUMP WORE OUT AND THAT JEEP WILL NOT PAY TO REPLACE/REPAIR AND THAT EVEN THOUGH THE CAR IS UNDER 50,000, THAT I HAVE TO PAY CLOSE TO FOUR THOUSAND DOLLARS TO REPAIR/REPLACE. MECHANIC FOUND THAT BOTH FRONT BALL JOINTS/CONTROL ARMS HAVE FAILED PREMATURELY TO THE POINT OF MAKING THE VEHICLE UNSAFE AND UN DRIVABLE UNTIL REPAIRED. READING ON LINE COMMENTS THIS PREMATURE FAILURE SEEMS AS IT IS A MANUFACTURE DEFECT. *TR
MY JEEP PATRIOT HAS A VERY UNUSUAL PROBLEM OF GOING INTO "LIMP" MODE UNDER NORMAL OPERATING CONDITIONS--EVEN AFTER AS LITTLE OF 15 MINUTES OF DRIVING. THE "TRANSMISSION OVERHEAT" LIGHT COMES ON, AND THE VEHICLE'S ON-BOARD COMPUTER FORCES THE VEHICLE DOWN TO SLOW, SUB-HIGHWAY SPEEDS--EVEN AS SLOW AS 35 MPH. THE PROBLEM HAS BEEN VERY DANGEROUS FOR US (ESPECIALLY ON THE FREEWAY) AND OCCURS UNDER NORMAL (AND EVEN COLD TEMPERATURES). IT IS NOT REMEDIED BY REPLACING THE TRANSMISSION OIL OR EVEN INSTALLING A TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER (BOTH WHICH I HAVE TRIED). I HAVE BROUGHT THE VEHICLE TO NUMEROUS MECHANICS--INCLUDING THE DEALERSHIP AND A TRANSMISSION SHOP--WHICH HAVE ALL BEEN STUMPED BY THE ISSUE. AFTER LEARNING ABOUT AND THOROUGHLY DIAGNOSING THE PROBLEM, THE TRANSMISSION SHOP CONCLUDED THAT SOMETHING VERY UNUSUAL WAS WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION, AND THEY WROTE A STATEMENT TO THAT EFFECT. AFTER EXPERIENCING THIS DANGEROUS, FREQUENT PROBLEM WITH MY JEEP PATRIOT, I STARTED A WEBSITE TO COLLECT RESPONSES FROM OTHER JEEP OWNERS. IN THE SHORT PERIOD OF TIME THE WEBSITE HAS BEEN UP (JEEPPATRIOTTRANSMISSIONOVERHEAT.COM), I HAVE RECEIVED MANY SUBMISSIONS FROM OTHER OWNERS WHO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM (AND ALL OF WHICH HAVE ATTESTED THAT THE DEALERSHIP WAS ULTIMATELY STUMPED BY THE PROBLEM). I PURCHASED A 2009 JEEP PATRIOT IN JULY OF 2013 WITH 27,000 MILES. FROM THE VERY FIRST HARD RAIN FALL THE SUNROOF LEAKED. FOR THE FIRST FEW MONTHS, DUE TO INSUFFICIENT RAINFALL, I THOUGHT I HAD NOT PROPERLY CLOSED THE SUNROOF THE FEW TIMES IT LEAKED. HOWEVER, SOON AFTERWARDS IT BECAME CLEAR THAT IT WAS LEAKING.
