There are 9 owner-reported fuel system complaints for the 2015 Jeep Patriotin NHTSA's database. These are unverified consumer reports and may not reflect confirmed defects.
My car broke down as I was driving with no prior indication or warning. It failed to run when I tried to start it back up, so I had to push it off the road and call for a tow. The shop told me the problem was that the tube-fuel supply line was corroded from the inside and needed to be replaced. I had a similar issue with my brake fluid lines being corroded and needing to be replaced a year prior. How is it these supply lines are built out of such a poor material, that the vehicle barely makes it 10 years/100K miles and they are already failing because the fuel line can't handle fuel and the brake line can't handle brake fluid?
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Patriot. The contact stated that after refueling the vehicle, the check engine warning light illuminated momentarily while starting the vehicle and while driving. The contact stated the failure had been recurring after refueling the vehicle. The dealer and the manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
The throttle body on my 2015 Jeep has been replaced twice and is faulty again for the third time. I've owned the vehicle since brand new from dealer. The throttle body’s main task is regulating air intake on the engine. The throttle body malfunction makes the Jeep prone to engine stalling, starting failure, or power surge while accelerating. It is a safety hazard and environmental hazard, since the problem impacts engines and emissions. Significant problems like reduced acceleration or deteriorating fuel efficiency.
warning lights on the instrument cluster, hesitation loss of power while traveling at highway speed
I see there is a recall on other Jeep Patriots for a catalytic convertors. Mine was not included but i have had numerous emission issues. My catalytic convertor and both O2 sensors went and it is not covered. I am wondering why my jeep wasn't included in the recall.
My Jeep Patriot stalls after I fill up the gas tank 1-2 miles after it is filled every time. It does this at random times with no warning, the steering and brakes lock up with no throttle control. It is extremely dangerous as it’s happened in heavy traffic and could turn out worse for others with the same issue.
SPUTTERING AND VIOLENT BUCKING WHEN TRYING TO ACCELERATE. "LIGHTENING BOLT" STARTED BLINKING ON DASH BOARD. TURNED OUT I HAD TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY. MY CAR ONLY HAD 55,000 MILES AT THE TIME. VERY DANGEROUS IF YOU ARE DRIVING ON THE ROAD AND THIS STARTS.
WHEN I FILL MY TANK UP WITH GAS, MY CAR WILL START BUCKING, OFTEN RESULTING IN A STALL SHORTLY AFTER. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF IT'S COMPLETELY FULL OR IF I ONLY PUT TEN DOLLARS IN THE TANK. IT IS USUALLY WHEN I AM SLOWING DOWN OR WHEN I SLOW AND THEN TRY TO ACCELERATE BUT NEVER WHEN I'M ALREADY SLOWED DOWN, IT'S USUALLY WHEN I AM GOING THE SPEED LIMIT IT CAN BE ANYWHERE BETWEEN 30-60MPH. IT HAS BROKEN DOWN TWICE ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY WHERE I LIVE CALLED US 19 AND I LEGITIMATELY FELT LIKE I COULD HAVE LOST MY LIFE IN BOTH SITUATIONS HAD OTHER DRIVERS NOT BEEN PAYING ATTENTION, SO MANY CARS CAME CLOSE TO HITTING ME I'M TERRIFIED TO DRIVE MY CAR NOW. IT ALSO STALLED SEVERAL TIMES ON SIDE ROADS WITH HEAVY TRAFFIC AND ONCE OR TWICE ON ROADS WITH NOT MUCH TRAFFIC. I BELIEVED MAYBE IT WAS THE THROTTLE BODY BUT IT'S NOT THROWING ANY CODES. SINCE IT IS USUALLY WHEN I PUT GAS IN, I'M NOW THINKING IT MAYBE BE AN ISSUE WITH THE FUEL INJECTOR, SOME SORT OF SENSOR IN THE GAS TANK OR SOMETHING ALONG THOSE LINES. IT IS CURRENTLY AT THE DEALERSHIP GETTING LOOKED AT BUT THEY ARE HAVING A HARD TIME RECREATING THE ISSUE, IT REALLY SHOULD BE A RECALL BEFORE SOMEONE LOSES THEIR LIFE. I DON'T HAVE KIDS OR A HUSBAND BUT A LOT OF PEOPLE ON THE FORUMS I VISIT DO AND THEY ARE HAVING THIS ISSUE WITH A LOT OF DIFFERENT MAKES AND MODELS OF JEEPS SINCE 2014. I OWN A 2015 JEEP AND WHILE DRIVING DOWN A NEIGHBORHOOD STREET TURNING ONTO A MAJOR HIGHWAY MY VEHICLE STARTED TO SLOW. WHEN I PRESSED THE ACCELERATOR MY VEHICLE WOULD NOT ACCELERATE AND CONTINUE TO SLOW. MY VEHICLE THEM CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. I ATTEMPTED TO TURN THE VEHICLE ON AGAIN AND THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START. I WAS THEN FORCED TO PUSH THE VEHICLE OFF THE SIDE OF THE ROAD TO SAFETY SINCE THERE WERE OTHER VEHICLE DRIVING BEHIND ME. AFTER HAVING THE VEHICLE TOWED TO AN AUTO REPAIR SHOP I WAS TOLD THE FUEL PUMP HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE FUEL PUMP DID NOT GIVE ANY ADVANCED WARNING, NO INDICATOR LIGHTS CAME ON THE VEHICLE TO INFORM ME. I WAS PUT IN AN UNSAFE POSITION WHEN MY VEHICLE BROKE DOWN. I HAVE LESS THAN 40K MILES ON MY JEEP THERE IS NO WAY A FUEL PUMP WOULD GO OUT ON SUCH A NEW VEHICLE WITH LOW MILES. IT COST ME $556.02 TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP. HOWEVER ONCE THE PUMP WAS REPLACED THE FUEL GAUGE WOULD NOT READ CORRECTLY. THE ACTUAL GAUGE WAS FUNCTIONING BUT THE FUEL PUMP WOULD NOT SEND CORRECT READINGS AND MY GAUGE WOULD NOT MARK MORE THAN 3/4 TANK EVEN WHEN THE TANK WAS FUEL. IN THE END I HAD TO REPLACE THE FUEL PUMP THREE TIMES BEFORE THE GAUGE WOULD MARK FROM EMPTY TO FULL CORRECTLY. ALL THESE EVENTS CAUSE ME TO BELIEVE THE FUEL PUMP IS FAULTY AND SHOULD BE RECALLED AND CORRECTED.
