CRANKSHAFT SENSOR WENT CAR STOPPED WHILE DRIVING & ENGINE LIGHT WET ON
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 JEEP PATRIOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT PERFORMED A DIAGNOSTIC TEST ON THE VEHICLE HIMSELF AND RETRIEVED FAILURE CODE: P0420 CATALYTIC SYSTEM EFFICIENCY BELOW THRESHOLD. THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,057.
IN JULY 2020, I WAS DRIVING, AND MY ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. WENT TO JEEP, IN RENO, NV, WHICH DIAGNOSED IT AS A CAMSHAFT SENSOR ERROR; IT WOULD NEED TO BE REPAIRED BUT NOT CRITICAL. TECH RESET SENSOR, AND SAID IF IT COMES ON AGAIN, WE SHOULD SET A DATE FOR REPAIR. ON SEPT 3, 6:40PM, DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY, COMING OUT OF AN INTERCHANGE, MY CAR SHUT DOWN! EVERYTHING. LUCKILY, CLOSE ENOUGH, I COASTED OFF TO THE RIGHT AND TOOK THE FIRST EXIT, BRAKED HARD, AND CAME TO STOP. COULDN'T RESTART. ORDERED A TOW. TEN MIN LATER, TRIED AGAIN, THE CAR STARTED, AND DROVE IT 3 MILES HOME @ 25 MPH. HIT 30MPH, IT KINDA 'CHUNKED', AND I WENT BACK TO 24-25MPH. SEPT 4, I TOOK TO LITHIA JEEP, AGAIN. LEFT IT WITH THEM. THEY CALLED ME LATER, AND SAID IT WAS THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR, AND WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. TOTAL COST: $700. THEY KEPT IT OVER THE LABOR DAY WEEKEND, AND WILL FIX & RETURN, SEPT 8, 2020. I GOOGLED THE ISSUE; DISCOVERED A RECALL FOR JEEP PATRIOT'S MANUFACTURED MAY-JULY 2016. TODAY, SEPT 7, CONTACTED THE CHRYSLER RECALL DEPT, REGARDING THE S89 RECALL, LEARNED MY VEHICLE WAS MANUFACTURED JAN 15, 2016, AND NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL S89. MY VEHICLE, SAME MAKE/MODEL, WITH THE EXACT SAME ISSUES AS IN THE RECALL. THE AGENT SAID I HAVE TO GET THE DEALER TO ACKNOWLEDGE THE ISSUE IS THE SAME AS THE RECALL; THEN REQUEST A REVIEW BY THE JEEP DEALER'S REGIONAL SUPERVISOR, WHO, IF APPROVES, ALLOWS ME TO SUBMIT PAPERWORK, TO REQUEST CHRYSLER PAY ALL BILLS RELATED TO ISSUE, BACK TO THE JULY 2020 CAMSHAFT SENSOR ISSUE, UP TO AND INCLUDING THE REPAIR OF BOTH THE CAMSHAFT SENSOR, AND THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR. THIS SEEMS LIKE A LOT OF FOOTWORK FOR ME, LET ALONE ALL THE PAPERWORK TO SUBMIT FOR, HOPEFULLY, PAYMENT AFTER THE FACT, FOR WORK RELATED TO A RECALL. CAN YOU STEP IN AND HELP? CAN YOU ADD MORE VEHICLES MANUFACTURE DATES TO THE RECALL, TO INCLUDE MINE?
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD MY JEEP WILL JUST STALL AND PUT ME IN A DANGEROUS SITUATION. NO WARNINGS WITH ANY DASH LIGHTS.
THE VEHICLE STALLED SITTING STILL. WHEN I CRANKED THE JEEP IT WOULD NOT TURN OVER. AS I TURNED THE IGNITION KEY IT JUST KEPT ON CRANKING WITH OUT ME HOLDING THE KEY.
WHILE DRIVING G ENGINE STALLS AND CAN NOT ACCELERATE, RED LIGHT W LIGHT BOLT FLASHES WHILE CAR STALLS, USUALLY FOR 10 SECONDS, THEN RECOVERS. IT HAPPENS MORE AND MORE OFTEN. HAPPENS ON BOTH FREEWAY AND STREET DRIVING, 60MPH AND 35MPH FIRST TIME HAPPENED ABOUT THREE WEEKS AGO
WATER IN FRONT DOME LIGHT SUDDENLY AFTER SEVERAL MONTHS. DRIPPING DOWN DASHBOARD AND CAUSE ELECTRICAL PROBLEMS. STATIONARY VEHICLE WITH NO LEAKS IN SUNROOF BOUGHT 01/2020. 08/2020 FIRST OCCURRENCE, DAMAGE TO LIGHTS ON AC AND HEAT CONTROLS. LESS THAN 2500 MILES DRIVEN SINCE BOUGHT AT A DEALERSHIP NO DISCLOSURE AT TIME OF PURCHASE.
SAME ISSUE AS RECALL S89/16V907000. STALLS RANDOMLY AND POWER NOT DELIVERED TO ENGINE PROPERLY. MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE FOR OUR FAMILY.
SAME EXACT ISSUE AS SAFETY RECALL S89 / NHTSA 16V-907 STALLLES ARRIVING AND WON'T RESTART
I WAS COMING OUT OF A STOP GETTING READY TO GET INTO THE TURNING LANE FOR THE INTERSTATE RAMP AND WHEN I PRESSED THE GAS THE CAR BARELY MOVED BUT THE RPM SHOT UP AND WAS REVVING. CAME TO A FULL STOP AND PUT CAR IN PARK AND IT MADE A VERY LOUD NOISE. PUT BACK IN DRIVE AND SEEMED TO BE NORMAL.
MY MALFUNCTIONING JEEP PATRIOT EXPERIENCED SUDDEN UNEXPECTED ACCELERATION WHICH RESULTED IN A TOTALED CAR, 2 DAMAGED BUILDINGS, AND A FCA LETTER STONEWALLING AND WASHING THEIR HANDS OF. THIS ACCIDENT CAME WITHIN A WHISKER OF TAKING OUR LIVES. ACCIDENT HAPPENED AS I DESCENDED OUR DRIVEWAY TO OUR HOUSE. DEEP SKID TIRE MARKS IN GRAVEL THEY CHOSE TO IGNORE. THEIR "INVESTIGATION" WAS VERY VERY SHALLOW. I HAVE A DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF ALL THAT HAPPENED THAT DAY AND POLICE REPORT WHICH I CAN FAX TO YOU. I AM A VERY ANGRY AND FRUSTRATED VETERAN I NEED YOU. MY VEHICLE OUT OF NOWHERE NO LIGHTS OR WARNINGS CAME ON IT SIMPLY SHUT OFF NO POWER COULDN'T EVEN UNLOCK MY DOORS. WAS UNABLE TO START AGAIN. I JUMPED IT AND IT STARTED WITHIN 10SECONDS OF DRIVING IT I THOUGHT IT DIED AGAIN AND REALIZED WAS STILL RUNNING BUT IT WAS LIKE I WAS NOT PRESSING THE GAS RPMS WERE UP BUT NO SPEED WHEN I PUT IN PARK VEHICLE MOTOR SEEMED TO BE STRUGGLING AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. LUCKILY ALL OF THIS HAPPENED WHILE ON A SMALL ROAD . GOT IT HOME SPOKE TO MECHANIC HE INFORMED ME OF RECALL S89 AND IMMEDIATELY SAID IT WAS ELECTRICAL OR COMPUTER POSSIBLY I REACHED OUT TO CHRYSLER AND THEY INSTRUCTED ME TO TAKE TO DEALERSHIP TO SUBMIT MY VIN FOR RECALL I CONTACTED DEALERSHIP THEY ESSENTIALLY TOLD ME NO WE DON'T DO THAT. THIS WAS OUT OF NOWHERE WITH NO WARNING I DID TRY TO START VEHICLE A FEW MINUTES LATER IT STARTED UP.
WHILE DRIVING THE ENGINE STALLS, ESSENTIALLY CUTTING MY POWER STEERING AND HAVE LITTLE CONTROL OVER VEHICLE. HAPPENS ON FREEWAY AND IN CITY STREETS AND STOP LIGHTS
THE CAR STALLS WHILE DRIVING IT DOWN THE ROAD AT MORE THEN 20MPH AND IT'S VERY DANGEROUS BECAUSE IT DOES IT WITH NO LIGHT OR ANY INDICATION THAT SOMETHING IS WRONG. I BELIEVE IT'S COMPLETELY ELECTRICAL BUT I'M TAKING IT IN TO THE MECHANICS TOMORROW. I WAS DRIVING DOWN A HIGHWAY WHEN IT STALLED ON ME THANKFULLY I WAS ON THE SLOW LANE AND WAS ABLE TO PULL TO THE SIDE BUT NOT BEFORE SOMEONE ALMOST REAR ENDING ME.
MULTIPLE WARNING LIGHTS INDICATE THE VEHICLE ROUTINELY LOST CONTACT WITH ANTI-LOCK BRAKE MODULE, WHEEL DISTANCE, AND SPEED WHILE BOTH STATIONARY AND IN MOTION.
WHEN IT IS READY TO SHIFT BETWEEN 2ND AND 3RD GEAR WITH FOOT ON PEDAL STEADY IT WILL PAUSE LIGHT WILL COME ON THEN WHEN IT GETS CAUGHT UP IT WILL SHOT U FORWARD.IT DOES THIS MOST OFTEN WHEN PULLING ON TO HIGHWAY VEHICLE ONLY HAS 39683 ON MILLAGE
THE CAR SLOWS DOWN AND LOOSES POWER WHILE DRIVING. IT ALSO SHUTS IT SELF OFF EVER SINCE I BOUGHT THIS JEEP.
AT THE FIRST INSTANCE OF THE ENGINE STALLING, THE VEHICLE WAS IN MOTION, BUT SLOWING TO STOP AT A RED LIGHT. THE NEXT INSTANCE OF THE VEHICLE STALLING, IT WAS STOPPED. THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN, BUT TRIED TO RESTART ON ITS OWN. AFTER RESETTING THE IGNITION KEY, AND WAITING ABOUT 3 MINUTES, THE VEHICLE STARTED...AND REMAINED IN A RUNNING STATE UNTIL WE ARRIVED AT HOME. THE NEXT TIME THE VEHICLE WAS USED, IT WAS STARTED VIA THE KEY FOB. IT STARTED, AND WITHIN 15 SECONDS, THE CAR SHUT DOWN. LATER THAT DAY, WE TOOK IT TO A VALVOLINE OIL CHANGE FACILITY, WHERE THEY CHECKED FOR ENGINE CODES VIA THE OBD PORT. AND ERROR OF "CRANKSHAFT POSITION SENSOR" WAS NOTED. LATER THAT DAY, WHILE PULLING IN TO A PARKING LOT, THE VEHICLE STALLED AND ATTEMPTED A RESTART ON ITS OWN. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES, THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED. WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY (AT AROUND 60 MPH), THE ENGINE STALLED AND ATTEMPTED A RESTART 4 TIMES (ON ITS OWN). IT RESTARTED, AND STAYED THAT WAY FOR THE REMAINDER OF THE TRIP HOME. IN RESEARCHING THIS PROBLEM, THERE IS A RECALL (S89) ON THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE, BUT THE DATE OF MANUFACTURE IS OUT OF RANGE WITH OUR VEHICLE, OR DOES NOT APPLY TO THE ALL WHEEL DRIVE VERSION (WHICH WE HAVE).
WHEN ACCELERATING MY ENGINE SEEMS TO BOG DOWN AND STALL VERY FREQUENTLY. THIS HAD ALMOST CAUSED WHAT COULD OF BEEN A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. ONCE I WAS TURNING IN A 4 WAY INTERSECTION AND IT STALLED WHEN CAR YIELDING TO ME WAS APPROACHING ME IN INTERSECTION ALMOST CAUSING A T BONE TYPE CRASH AND THE OTHER TIMES WAS ON THE HIGHWAY WHILE ACCELERATING THE ENGINE STALLED EACH TIME CAUSING WHAT COULD OF POTENTIALLY BEEN A LIFE THREATENING ACCIDENT. I WAS EXTREMELY CLOSE TO BEING HIT BY A SEMI ONCE, A TRUCK PULLING A TRAILER ONCE AND MULTIPLE CARS ON DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. *TR
VEHICLE LOSES POWER AND/OR STALLS WHILE DRIVING, EVEN AT HIGH SPEEDS. VEHICLE STALLED SEVERAL TIMES WHEN STOPPED. I HAD TO LET CAR SIT FOR A FEW MINUTES BEFORE IT WOULD RESTART. LOST ACCELERATION AT LOW SPEEDS, ESPECIALLY AFTER TURNING A CORNER AND BEGINNING TO ACCELERATE. YOU PRESS ON THE GAS AND NOTHING HAPPENS. THIS ALSO HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES ON THE HIGHWAY GOING 60MPH. LUCKILY IT KICKED BACK IN. THERE IS A RECALL ON THE SAME YEAR PATRIOT S89 FOR THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR, WHICH WAS THE EXACT PROBLEM ON MY PATRIOT. I INFORMED THE DEALER OF THIS RECALL WHEN I TOOK THE CAR IN FOR SERVICE. HE SAID IT WASN'T APPLICABLE TO MY VEHICLE AND WOULDN'T KEEP THE PAPERWORK I GAVE HIM FOR THE RECALL. THE DEALER, HOWEVER, TOLD ME IT WAS THE ABS SYSTEM AND CHARGED ME TO REPLACE IT AND THEN ENDED UP REPLACING THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR AFTER THE PROBLEM STILL HAPPENED ON THE TEST DRIVE AFTER REPLACING ABS. THE PATRIOT STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY. IF THE DEALER WOULD HAVE LISTENED TO ME AND DONE THE TEST DRIVE FIRST, THEY WOULD HAVE DISCOVERED THE ISSUE RIGHT AWAY. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. LUCKILY I DIDN'T GET HIT ON THE HIGHWAY. *TR
HEATING CORE WENT OUT; LEAKED WATER AT 220F ONTO BARE FOOT WHILE DRIVING. JUST HAD PART REPLACED; PART IS EXTREMELY FLIMSY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2016 JEEP PATRIOT. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT AN UNDISCLOSED SPEED, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE WAS MANUALLY PUSHED OR COASTED OUT OF THE ROADWAY. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER SITTING FOR APPROXIMATELY 30 MINUTES, THE VEHICLE WOULD RESTART. THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO BE DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 65,000.
THERE IS A LEAK SOMEWHERE THAT FLOODS WATER THROUGH THE MAP LIGHTS IN THE ROOF EVERY TIME IT RAINS. IT HAS SHORTED OUT THE ENTIRE RADIO SCREEN WHERE IT NO LONGER FUNCTIONS. TOOK INTO A DEALERSHIP TO TAKE A LOOK AND THEY SAID IT WAS FIXED 2 TIMES AND STILL CONTINUED TO LEAK. I HAVE FORUMS ONLINE THAT HUNDREDS OF PEOPLE HAVE THE SAME EXACT ISSUE! I WILL PROCEED WITH FILING LEMON LAW IF THIS DOES NOT GET ADDRESSED. *TR
I HAVE BEEN HAVING AN ISSUE WITH WHAT FEELS LIKE MY ENGINE IS STALLING AND ABOUT TO SEIZE AND MY TEMPERATURE GAUGE RISES. THERE APPEARS TO BE NO ISSUES WITH ANY HOSES, RADIATOR OR COOLANTS AS I'VE RECENTLY HAD AN OIL CHANGE. DESPITE WHEN EVER I TRAVEL ON THE HIGHWAY THIS ISSUE OCCURS. I TRAVEL THE NJ PARKWAY 5 DAYS A WEEK FOR WORK AND I FEAR THAT THE CAR WILL SHUTDOWN AND CAUSE A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. PLEASE ADVISE. *TR
2016 JEEP PATRIOT WITH 38K MILES WILL RANDOMLY QUIT ACCELERATING WHICH CAUSES LOSS OF POWER, STEERING CONTROL, ETC. THE RED LIGHTNING BOLT (ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL) WILL INTERMITTENTLY COME ON AND FLASH. DIAGNOSED AT LOCAL JEEP DEALERSHIP WHO SAID THE THROTTLE BODY NEEDS REPLACING AT A COST OF $1000 AND IS NOT COVERED UNDER ANY JEEP WARRANTY - WHETHER THE BASIC OR THE EXTENDED THAT COVERS EMISSION SYSTEMS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2016 JEEP PATRIOT. THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING AT UNKNOWN SPEED SHE NOTICED SMOKE FROM THE HOOD OF THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED SHE PULLED OVER THE VEHICLE AND EXITED THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE AND SHE COULD NOT BREATHE. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CAME TO THE SCENE AND WAS ABLE EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO TOWING LOT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO LOCAL DEALER FOR A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE VEHICLE WAS DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 40,000.

REPLACED THE THROTTLE BODY AS VEHICLE LOST POWER. MECHANIC SAID HE HAS REPLACED OVER 10-12 OF THEM RECENTLY AND THERE WILL PROBABLY A RECALL. PART AND LABOR WAS $500. MY GRANDDAUGHTER IS IN COLLEGE AND WE PURCHASED VEHICLE AS IT WAS SUPPOSEDLY DEPENDABLE TRANSPORTATION. SHE WAS ABLE TO PULL INTO A PARKING LOT BEFORE THE VEHICLE LOST POWER. *TR
I WAS DRIVING ON A ROAD INTO WORK AT NO MORE THAN 40/45 MPH. MY CAR WAS AT A SLIGHT INCLINE WHEN THE ELECTRONIC THROTTLE CONTROL LIGHT AND ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON, AND MY CAR POWERED DOWN TO A LOW LEVEL AND WOULDN'T INCREASE ITS SPEED. I PULLED OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, PUT THE CAR IN PARK AND SHUT IT OFF. I WAS ABLE TO START THE CAR AND DRIVE THE REST OF THE WAY, AND THE LIGHT DIDN'T COME BACK ON AGAIN. *TR

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS INTERMITTENT. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED AND DETERMINED THAT THE CRANKSHAFT SENSOR FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 16V907000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. GLENDALE DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP (900 S. BRAND BLVD, GLENDALE, CA 91204) WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 38,000.
MY VEHICLE DOESN'T WANT TO ACCELERATE. WHEN I AM ON THE FREEWAY IN ORDER TO KEEP UP AN ACCEPTABLE SPEED I HAVE TO KEEP THE GAS PEDAL COMPLETELY PRESSED DOWN. ALSO WHEN I LEAVE A STOP LIGHT/STOP SIGN THE JEEP HAS NO ACCELERATION POWER. *TR
DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT HIGHWAY SPEED THE RED LIGHTNING BOLT WARNING LIGHT CAME ON, AS DID THE CHECK ENGINE AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS AND THE ACCELERATOR CUT OUT. I WAS ABLE TO COAST ACROSS 3 LANES TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, BUT THIS HAS HAPPENED THREE TIMES AND APPARENTLY MY 2016 PATRIOT WASN'T INCLUDED IN THE RECALL THAT ADDRESSED THIS ISSUE.
MY 2016 JEEP PATRIOT HESITATES AND JERKS WHEN I STEP ON THE GAS PEDAL. SOMETIMES IT WILL NOT GO OVER 40 MPH. WHEN I STOP THEN LET OFF THE BRAKE THE VEHICLE JUMPS FORWARD WITHOUT STEPPING ON THE GAS PEDAL. IT RUNS SLUGGISH. THERE ARE THREE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD LITE UP. WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM WORK ON THE INTERSTATE YESTERDAY AT ABOUT 60MPH, MY JEEP SUDDENLY LOSS POWER AND STARTED SHAKING. IT WOULDN'T ACCELERATE AT ALL. I HAD TO QUICKLY PUT MY FLASHERS ON AS TO NOT CAUSE AN ACCIDENT WHILE I TRIED TO PULL INTO THE EMERGENCY SHOULDER. I TURNED THE CAR OFF FOR A FEW MINUTES THEN RESTARTED IT TO DRIVE HOME.
DRIVING ON THE INTERSTATE AT 75MPH WHEN MY WIFE HAD A RED LIGHTING BOLT APPEAR ON THE DASH BOARD, AT WHICH TIME THE POWER DROPPED OFF. SHE HAD TO MOVE ACROSS TWO LANES OF TRAFFIC WITH NO POWER. ONCE IT WAS ON THE SHOULDER, SHE CALLED ME IN A PANIC. I WENT ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND OUT HOW TO RESET THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY. THE VEHICLE STARTED BACK UP AND WAS ABLE TO DRIVE IT HOME. IT WAS A VERY DANGEROUS AND SCARY EXPERIENCE. I CALLED JEEP DEALERSHIP AND TO MY SURPRISE THEY WAS NO RECALL FOR THIS ISSUE. THE INTERNET WAS FULL OF PEOPLE WHO HAD THIS VERY ISSUE. I CALL THEIR CORPORATE SERVICE LINE AND THEY CONFIRMED NO SAFETY RECALL EXISTS. THEY TOLD ME THEY COULD NOT CONFIRM WHETHER THEY WOULD OR WOULD NOT SELF REPORT THIS ISSUE. *TR
AS I WAS DRIVING AT ABOUT 45 MILES PER HOUR, ON A TWO LANE ROAD, MY VEHICLE LOST ALL POWER. IT WOULDN'T HARDLY PULL ITSELF. IT ALMOST STALLED OUT COMPLETELY. I HAD TO SHUT IT OFF AND IT RESET FOR A SHORT TIME. FORTUNATELY I HAD A PLACE TO PULL OUT OF THE WAY. I'M HAVING TROUBLE GIVING MY VEHICLE THROTTLE NOW. I BELIEVE THE THROTTLE BODY IS THE PART THAT IS THE ISSUE. I'VE READ THAT IS A PROBLEM WITH OTHER JEEP PATRIOTS.

THERE WERE NO WARNING LIGHTS ILLUMINATED. THE DRIVER'S SIDE CURTAIN BAG DEPLOYED BUT THE PASSENGERS SIDE CURTAIN AIR BAG FAILED TO DEPLOY COMPLETELY. THERE WERE NO REPORTED INJURIES. A POLICE REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 24,300. *DT*JB
AS I AM DRIVING, WHEN I SLOW DOWN OR SIT IN TRAFFIC MY CAR RANDOMLY SHUTS OFF WITHOUT ANY INDICATION THAT ANYTHING IS WRONG ON THE DASHBOARD. I CAN'T BRAKE NOR ACCELERATE WHEN THIS HAPPENS. It started acting up Feb 1, 2020 not long after I bought it (Nov 8 2019). It would work, then it wouldn't. It is a hazard to drive because it stalls out or chugs along at a snail's pace until you can pull off the road to shut it down and restart it hoping it accelerates. It is still an issue (Aug 2022). I have not been able to drive it for 2 years even though I am still paying on it because it is just not safe for myself or others on the road. It is a hazard all the way around. I keep checking for recalls, but the sites say there are none. However, finally there may be a ray of hope in solving this awful mess. I just got an email last week from CarComplaints.com about this same issue. It listed the 2016 Jeep Patriot as having that issue and being recalled. The Manufactured dates listed there are May 9, 2016 to July 15, 2016. My door sticker says build date 7-16 MDH 071000 486AA. How do I get this looked at and fixed under the recall? I have NOT driven it since August 26, 2020. It is now Aug 7, 2022. I am still paying on this and can't drive it because it is unsafe to travel anywhere chugging along and being a hazard.

VEHICLE CONSTANTLY STALLS WHILE DRIVING. EVEN HAPPENS WHEN I'M DRIVING ON INTERSTE AND SPEEDS OF 70 MPH. VEHICLE EVENTUALLY STARTS BACK UP BUT THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE. HAD THE CODES RAN AND CAME BACK WITH AN ISSUE WITH THE CRANKSHAFT POSITIONING SENSOR.
BOUGHT JEEP IN 2018 SINCE THEN IT HAS HAD INTERMITTENT CRUISE CONTROL PROBLEMS. SOMETIMES IT WORKS SOMETIMES IT DONT. SOMETIMES IT WORKS THEN QUITS WORKING. DRIVERS SEAT BELT WILL BE BUCKLED AND COME UNBUCKLED HAVE TO REBUCKLE INTERMITTENTLY. BURNING SMELL INTERMITTENTLY DONT KNOW IF ITS OIL, COOLANT OR WHAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE FIXED BY JEEP WHO SAID IT WAS LEAKY COOLANT STILL OCCURS. ALL OF THIS HAS OCCURRED WHILE ON THE ROAD.
