I have a 2018 Jeep Sports Renegade and it burns through oil at an excessive rate. My vehicle stalls out on me often and says oil pressure low, shortly after oil changes. If I am traveling downhill and need to make a turn, no matter what speed, the car directs me to shift into park and restart. This has happened on numerous occasions that has almost got me into multiple accidents. Just yesterday, I turned on my car and drove down the hill to the stop sign, and it shut off on me. This is a very scary issue and now today I receive a piece of mail about a class action lawsuit regarding oil consumption, yet my VIN isn't included in any recalls?
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Renegade. The contact stated while driving 45 MPH, the vehicle started to lose motive power and then stalled. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle and drove to her destination. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the engine to be replaced and needing an oil consumption test completed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 83,000.
Here lately when i start it up it cuts off immediately. I think it's the fuel pump
Since I’ve owned the car. When we go above 70 on highways with cruise control and a/c on the car will randomly turn off and the speedometer will say I am going 0 miles an hour. This has happened 5 times, everytime we go on vacation. And everytime the dealership states they can not mimic the symptoms. So it never gets fixed. Read about a power trans chip that’s faulty. Should be my vehicle included in that problem.
Uconnect 8.4 infotainment system screen starts to delaminate and melt causing the screen to push buttons randomly and distract the driver.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Renegade. The contact stated while stopped at a red light, the vehicle was shifted into gear but failed to accelerate. The PUSH to START message was displayed. The contact pulled over and turned off the vehicle; however, the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer and diagnosed with a defective fuel pump. The contact was informed that the fuel pump needed to be replaced. The contact informed the dealer that the failure was like NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V731000 (Fuel System, Gasoline) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and confirmed that the VIN was not under recall. The failure mileage was 66,700.
From date of purchase, fuel pump has been bad. It turns off when it’s hot outside. Has happened 30+ times in the almost 4 years I’ve owned it. Brought to mechanic numerous times and they wouldn’t find the problem. Now that I’m aware of the issue and there was a recall on Jeep renegade 2018 but is not pulling up under my vin
My husband was driving our Jeep today and it just stopped two times without any warning. Once while just going down our driveway (about 1000 feet from our home) and the second times was while he was in town going around a round about intersection. He was able to pull over and the Jeep started right back up but it could have been a lot worse if he would have been in traffic or driving 65+ MPH.
Driving on June 13, 2022 in Nebraska during excessive heat (105 degrees), engine stalled on the interstate and check engine light came on. Towed to a dealership, who said I probably had bad gas (I think the code was for fuel trim low in bank 1). They reset code, I filled up with high octane fuel and continued, only to have it happen again 50 miles down the road, this time with no check engine light. Towed back to dealership. They tried to replicate the problem over the next two days by driving it well over 125 miles. However, temperatures were in the low to mid 80s on those two days. I am having the car hauled home to my local dealership to figure out the issue. I suspect that it is the fuel pump over heating and failing.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Renegade Latitude. The contact stated that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The engine consumed 2 quarts of engine oil per 750 miles driven. Additionally, the contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle shuddered, and while coming to a complete stop at a traffic light, the vehicle shut off. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where oil was added to the vehicle; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.
This has occurred 3 times in last 10 days. While making a right turn at about 15 miles per hour the D light starts flashing, a dash message flashes that the car must be in park to shift gears, and the car stalls to roll to complete stop with 100-150 feet. It takes a moment to get the car started up again. This is scary as someone turning the corner behind me could slam into me. Luckily this was after rush hour and traffic was light. Called dealership and they have no record of this recall. 48,000 miles on 2018 jeep renegade.
Air bag system do not opened in my crash.
The touch screen in my vehicle is delaminating from the top down. The delamination has been reported as a common manufacturer malfunction in this type of vehicle, and has been reported to become unresponsive or have "dead areas" in the screen that do not respond to touch. From my understanding and research, the screen will only continue to worsen from this delamination. I took my vehicle to my local Jeep dealership for inspection, and the cost to replace this defective screen is nearly $2000.00. I then called FCA Customer Care and they will not repair or replace it for me since I am not the original owner of the vehicle. Defects like this should be recalled due to the fact that it is widely reported in many Jeep vehicles.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Renegade. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed with a ground failure in the transmission. The dealer cleaned the throttle bottle and fuel injection system, removed the connector, and repositioned the seal to allow proper connection. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V524000 (Electrical System) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.
The vehicle just stop and the computer panel indicated it was in shifting mode and wouldn't move.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Renegade. The contact stated that while stopped at a traffic light, the vehicle made an abnormal sound. Additionally, the contact stated there was smoke coming from the engine compartment. The contact related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 18V731000 (Fuel System, Gasoline). The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 67,000.
Display screen is corrupted with vertical lines preventing use of the back up camera, navigation or climate controls. Dealer denies knowledge of the many reported occuran es of this issue but will investigate.
Started from Feb 2022 till April 2022 I had 3 time lights came up and car stopped on the road while I was driving. The first time was low oil pressure came on, and second and third time were both about engine service light on. so it happened once a month with about 1000 mileage driving. I was almost hit by the car behind of me coz the car stopped suddenly while I was driving. this really caused my concern about my safety. Dealer couldn't help me more about it except keep monitoring the oil consumption. they told me the car with 2.4L V4 engine has this issue. I found out the same issue also happened to the other Jeep consumers and they have been involved in law suit. I need to file this complaint so could get someone's attention on this, Chrysler need to fix this engine design issue ASAP to save lifes.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Renegade. The contact stated that while the vehicle was in for service, the mechanic informed of a possible engine oil consumption failure with the vehicle. After examining the vehicle several months later, it was confirmed that the engine oil was significantly lower than expected. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 81,000.
oil levels keep dropping and need more oil changes then it should. or need to add extra oil in between appts.
When applying brake fuel pump continues to race motor
2018 Jeep Renegade will randomly stall described in this current recall 18V731000 Though searching my vin number shows no recall. This is a serious safety hazard and needs to be repaired asap
Vehicle stops ramdonly. It has happened more than 3 times. I have not received a Manufacturer recall repair for the two reported isuues . Or a written confirmation that says that my VIN # is not affected. Thanks
The contact's daughter owns a 2018 Jeep Renegade. The contact stated that while his daughter was driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle lost motive power. Additionally, several unknown warning lights were flickering on and off. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed with fuel pump failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
Coolant in reservoir has been overheating since replacement of o-ring on pressure cap. I have take the car to the mechanic twice to find the solutions as to what could be causing this issue. The first time I was told it was not my radiator because I thought I had suffered damage to it from an accident a couple of years ago, and the second time they have flushed the system and told me there were no signs of leakage in the system. I have even speculated it could be the thermostat housing, so I got that replaced as well, but to no avail.
On several occasions the sun roof will not close. when you try to close the vent it will open it self all the way and will not close. There have been times it started to rain and could not close it because it would move forward then go back all the way open. I took it to the dealer and they said if something is in the track it will not close. That includes water if you wash the windshield.
My engine has stalled on several different occasions after accelerating it will stall out with no warning. It will restart but usually takes a few attempts.
My jeep on 11/11/2021 just turned 60,000 miles the light came on change oil so I started it drove out of the drive way turned around the corner it said you can't shift in drive so I pulled over put it in park put my foot on the brake push the button to start it sound like a hissing sound then it would crank and start I got to the corner to stop and it died out put it in park put my foot on the brake and push the button to start did the same thing making like a hissing sound started to crank after a minute and a half and it seemed to do this in the morning although couple more times during the day. This is a serious problem it can cause an accident I think it's a fuel pump not getting enough fuel.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Renegade. The contact stated that the screen on the instrument cluster was delaminating. The contact also stated the Bluetooth and USB ports were non-functional. The contact stated that the heater would engage independently and was unable to be turned off. The contact stated that the radio made an abnormal sound and the instrument cluster would make calls independently. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated she had to turn off and restart the vehicle for the instrument cluster to work properly. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the instrument cluster to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 40,000.
Car stalls / engine shuts off while driving. Engine will cut off while going over 30 mph. There have been many reports of this happening online on 2016 - 2018 Jeep Renegades.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Renegade. The contact’s wife stated while driving approximately 20 MPH, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be diagnosed. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 74,000.
As we were headed onto the Interstate via the on ramp I-44 west in St. Robert MO we had the from passenger and driver side windows down and we heard a loud POP as the front tempered glass panel of our panoramic sunroof/moonrise shattered above us cutting my arm and back. Sunny day no vehicles in front or behind us to kick up a rock or anything. This is clearly a defect in the design of the 2018 panoramic glass panels as later models top glass have a different style and design.
I have had 4 incidents now where I made a right hand turn and the car stalled in the middle of the road. Turned the engine off, attempted to restart. The engine would try to fire, but would take several tries, then would start roughly. Then would run fine.
I bought this car as a 1 year old vehicle with less than 20k miles. Since my first oil change, my mechanics have mentioned that it is losing quite a bit of oil. The jeep has died in intersections 9x due to low oil pressure. The vehicle crossed 60k miles a month ago, and is now misfiring. After a leak down test was performed, they stated that the engine needs to be replaced due to a 40% leak on cylinder 3 and a 30% on all other cylinders. Unfortunately, the engine is now out of warranty.
While going down the highway, the jeep shut down/locked up. The engine was still running, but wouldn't let me turn it off or run anything electrical. Every service light possible came on. In order to get it to turn off, we had to turn off the computer. After that, it had no power whatsoever. The key light was showing. Luckily, I was able to pull over before getting hit. I had both of my kids in the car. I've seen where other people have had this happen. Why has it not been recalled. We're still waiting to find out what the issue is but the mechanic shop is behind due to workers being out with Covid.
The contact owned a 2018 Jeep Renegade. The contact stated while the vehicle was parked, she smelled a burning odor and noticed dark smoke coming from underneath the hood of the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that as she opened the driver’s side door to exit the vehicle, the engine exploded, and the hood opened and caught on fire. The contact was able to extinguish the fire with assistance. The contact sustained an injury to the ankle but did not seek medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to a tow lot and deemed a total loss. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 57,400.
The Renegade touch screen radio that is used for all controls including seat warmers, climate control, rear back up camera, gps ect has had many cases of the factory issued radio screens delaminating causing it to make SOS emergency calls and switching through different touch screen controls due to the delamination of the radio screen at no fault of our own … Tolers Jeep in Morehead City NC has confirmed they have had to replace many radios due to this issue but hasn’t issued any recall for this safety issue on this model… I have now had to resort to keeping the radio turned off to avoid unwanted SOS calls to the local police department and malfunction of the touch screen controls
The engine suddenly shut-off while operating. The engine would not restart. There is a potential risk of causing an serious accident on the road. On the dashboard the key symbol light is on. On Tuesday of this week when called Chrysler's Customer Service and was informed that symbol is error is for the Passive Entry System. This error message prevent the engine from restart. The vehicle was towed to the nearest Jeep Chrysler dealership. Now, 2 days later there is no recall on the passive entry system and now the vehicle needs over $1600 worth of service repairs. They never address why the key symbol is on the car. appears that their an an issue with this and a recall is in order. Also, it may be the recall from 2018 # U87 with the circuit board and electrical.
Vehicle randomly shuts off/stalls while driving. Has happened on the highway at highway speeds, trying to pass another vehicle or simply while barely accelerating to merge. First few times transmission warning light came on, then change oil light came on. Last few times, engine just simply shuts off, speedometer slowly declines and there is no power. Pull over to shoulder, then message says vehicle must be in park before shifting to another gear, then says push brake pedal & push start. This happened several times while out of state, on vacation. Took it to the nearest dealership after having to spend extra money on a hotel room for 2 nights that I did not plan for, because this happened the evening before a holiday so I had to wait the extra day for the dealership to open. They found a code on the transmission, and also the fluid was a quart low. they cleared the code, filled the fluid, and I also had them change the oil as a precaution. Left the dealership, drove approximately 150 miles, and vehicle shut down on interstate again, 3 more times. Had to spend another night in a hotel, the closest dealership said couldn't look at vehicle until following week, so I drove back to the previous dealership where they couldn't find anything or couldn't duplicate the issue. Next day they found debris in pan so said Chrysler said to change transmission. Had to leave vehicle in Colorado, got rental to return home. Picked up vehicle 10 days later, driving home, vehicle did same thing again, 3 times. Drove remaining way home slowly, with breaks every 50-75 miles so issue wouldn't keep happening, vehicle is currently at local dealership and they (once again) cannot duplicate issue or find anything wrong. This is obviously an issue, I've seen several complaints about the stalling/shutting down. This is dangerous, as it happens on the interstate and could cause serious injury or death. Fiat/Chrysler does not seem to be concerned about that.
My vehicle has been burning oil and no oil light ever comes on. My vehicle then overheated post 1 week after an oil change and the safety mechanism turned on and shut my vehicle down. The sensor never detected the vehicle was overheating. It went from a "please lower RPM" to shutting down within seconds on the interstate. There are similar recalls on other years of this make and model. It has been burning oil since I bought the vehicle brand new. There is currently 80,000 miles on the car and has never missed an oil change or any service. My safety was put at risk by driving on the interstate and the vehicle completely shutting down going full speed. The vehicle has not been inspected by anyone but the people who have completely oil changes, etc. Never been in an accident. There were no previous warning lights prior to the shut down and overheating. The vehicle had started bogging down before the initial reduce RPM alert came on followed by the shut down seconds later.
It is using an enormous amount of oil. When it gets too low, it shuts off. I have been in the middle of a turn or in an intersection when this happens. It had a recall/fix by the manufacturer but it did it again. Back in the shop. I had to put over 4 quarts of oil in it.
I Was in a accident was hit on driver side and none of my airbags deployed
Left the store, stopped at a red light, car started acting like it was out of gas and stopped running, no “idiot” lights came on, no check engine nothing, put vehicle in park to restart (said on) and it would jerk like it was out of gas every time fir over 30 minutes I sat at a light and was unable to keep the vehicle started/running. Finally someone offered to push the car and it just started, too it to the dealer and because it was on a Saturday and the service department was closing in 5 minutes they refused to run a diagnostic test it sat there over the weekend and Monday they said that there was nothing wrong and to drive it for 1,500 miles and bring it back in, although car is still acting like it doesn’t want to shift or stay running, they said that because my VIN was not on the recall list they would only fix it if I paid out of pocket for it and the vehicle has less than 35,000 miles on it
2018 JEEL RENAGADE 4WD STALLS WHILE DRIVING. FEELS LIKE LOSS OF FUEL PRESSURE AROUND 60 MPH. NO SPEED CONTROL WHILE DECELERATION. WHEN STOPPED THE VEHICLE REQUIRES TO SHIFT TO PARK AND TURN OFF. SOMETIMES WILL AUTOMATICALLY TRY TO RESTART THE ENGINE SEVERAL TIMES. DANGEROUS BECAUSE I WAS DRIVING ON A BUSY HIGHWAY WITH NO ACCELERATION OR DECELERATION.
THE CAR SMELLS HORRIBLE LIKE GAS INSIDE WHEN I START IT TO HEAT UP. STARTED SHAKING, ENGINE IS MAKING A LOUD SOUND THAT IT DIDN'T BEFORE. I GOT THE TRANSMISSION COMPUTER UPDATED ON MARCH 30, 2021. NOW TRANSMISSION TEMPERATURE GETS TO CLOSE TO 200 DEGREES AND THE DEALER SAID THERE WAS NO NEED TO FLUSH BECAUSE OF THE MODEL. AND I GOT THE RECALL COMPUTER UPDATE ON JANUARY 30. 2021 ALSO FOR THE OIL ISSUE. I'M AM SO UNHAPPY WITH THIS VEHICLE. ALL THESE PROBLEMS HAPPEN AFTER MY WARRANTY RAN OUT.
WHEN COMING TO A STOP, THE JEEP STALLS AND TELLS ME TO TURN ENGINE BACK ON AND/OR TO CHANGE GEARS. AFTER CHECKING FORUMS, OTHER DRIVERS SAID TO CHECK THE OIL AND THE OIL WAS COMPLETELY DRY. IVE ONLY HAD THE VEHICLE A MONTH AND A HALF.
THE JEEP SOMETIMES STALLS WHEN COMING TO A STOP. IT'LL SAY THAT THE CAR NEEDS TO BE PLACED IN PARK, YOU ATTEMPT TO START IT, THE JEEP STRUGGLES TO START. EVENTUALLY IT WILL START. THE JEEP ALSO MAKES A HARD JOLT SOMETIMES IN HIGHER SPEEDS. IT HAS BEEN NOTICED TO DO THIS WHEN THE JEEP IS ACCELERATING TO CRUISING SPEED. SOMETIMES IT IS NOTICED WHEN DE ACCELERATING.
THE UCONNECT/SIRIUS XM SYSTEM TURNS OFF WHILE DRIVING. IT'S DANGEROUS IF I AM USING NAVIGATION. XM SAYS A FAVORITE IS ON BUT NOTHING IS BROUGHT ON SCREEN. THE UNIT COMPLETELY FREEZES. IT HAS STAYED ON EVEN WHEN CAR IS OFF AND LOCKED. BACK UP SENSOR IS NOT AUDIBLE. IT IS AT DEALERSHIP. I PURCHASED NEW AND HAD THIS ISSUE FROM THE BEGINNING. DEALER IS UNABLE TO REPLICATE.
VEHICLE HAS STALLED TWICE IN THE PAST COUPLE WEEKS. ONCE AFTER A RIGHT TURN AND ONCE ON A HIGHWAY AFTER SLOWING TO GO AROUND SOMETHING. CAR HAS BEEN MAINTAINED AT THE DEALERSHIP. I SEE RECALLS INVOLVING THE FUEL PUMP AND AN ELECTRIC MODULE, BUT MY VIN DOESN'T SHOW THESE.
I I AM DRIVING MY CAR AND AT FIRST WHEN IT HIT ONE LINE OF GAS WITH NO LIGHT ON IT WOULD JUST SHUT OFF AND NOT RESTART UNTIL I ADDED MORE GAS. THIS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIME. I CONTACTED THE DEALER AND SAID THEY COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING CAUSE THERE WAS NOT CODES IN THE SYSTEM AND THEY COULD NOT MAKE IT HAPPEN AGAIN. SO I WAS SENT HOME. IT HAS HAPPEN NOW AT LEAST FOUR MORE TIMES SINCE. THE LAST TIME IT HAPPENED WAS LAST WEEK AND THIS TIME I HAD TWO LINES OF GAS IN THE CAR. I HAD IT IN FOR EXPECTATION TODAY AND TOLD THEM ABOUT THE PROBLEM AGAIN. THE PRECEDED TO TELL ME THE SAME THING. TAKE IT HOME BECAUSE THEY CAN'T FIND NOTHING WRONG WITH IT AND I SHOULD CALL A TOW TRUCK NEXT TIME IT HAPPENS. BUT THE CAR SHUTS OFF ANYTIME. THE LAST TIME IT WAS ON A HIGHWAY WITH A TWO YEAR OLD IN THE BACK SEAT. THE CAR IS ACTING LIKE IT RAN OUT OF GAS BUT IT IS GETTING WORST AND IS PUTTING PEOPLE IN DANGER AND CAN'T GET JELP TO FIGURE OUT WHAT IT WRONG.
