FILLED UP FUEL TANK, WHEN IT GOT TO THE TOP IT DIDN'T SHUT OFF WITHOUT SPILLING OUT. NOW IT DOES IT ALL THE TIME. *TR
WHILE FUELING THIS VEHICLE, AS THE TANK GOT FULL AND THE PUMP SHUT OFF, THE FUEL BELCHED OUT, AT FIRST I THOUGHT IT WAS THE GAS PUMP SO I HAVE TRIED DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS, IT HAS NOW GOTTEN TO THE POINT WHERE IT DOES IT EVERY TIME, AT EVERY DIFFERENT GAS STATION. I LOOKED ON THE INTERNET AND FOUND THAT IT IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH PLENTY OF VIDEO TO SUPPORT THESE COMPLAINTS, WHAT IS DIFFICULT TO UNDERSTAND IS WHY YOU AREN'T DOING ANYTHING ABOUT IT. OTHER GOVERNMENT AGENCIES HAVE FORCED ALL GAS STATIONS TO LIMIT/RECOVER FUGITIVE EMISSIONS, BUT ALL THIS VIDEO EVIDENCE ISN'T ENOUGH TO SUPPORT A RECALL OF ALL AFFECTED VEHICLES? *TR
EVERY TIME I FILL UP MY 2005 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED THE TANK WILL OVERFLOW. IT DOESN'T MATTER IF I LET THE AUTO STOP CLICK TO STOP THE GAS OR IF I SLOW DOWN WHEN I KNOW IT IS GETTING FULL, THE GAS WILL OVERFLOW AND LEAK EVERYWHERE. IT'S A DECENT SIZE PUDDLE TOO, NOT JUST A COUPLE DRIPS. *TR

WHEN FILLING UP THE JEEP WITH GAS THIS MORNING, FUEL SHOT OUT OF THE JEEP ABOUT 3 FEET AND ALSO RAN DOWN THE SIDE OF THE JEEP RIGHT WHEN THE FUEL PUMP SHUT OFF. HAD I BEEN STANDING IN FRONT OF THE FUEL TANK, I WOULD HAVE BEEN COVERED IN GAS TO INCLUDE MY FACE. THIS IS A KNOWN PROBLEM AND CHRYSLER NEEDS TO RECALL THIS! THIS IS NOT ONLY A SAFETY PROBLEM, BUT A HAZMAT PROBLEM AS WELL. *TR
INCIDENT MILEAGE ON MY REPORT IS DUE TO BUYING THE VEHICLE USED, BUT HAS MOST LIKELY OCCURRED SINCE DATE OF ORIGINAL PURCHASE. DUE TO AN BAD CHECK VALVE IN THE FUEL TANK, OVERFILLING OCCURS AT ALMOST EVERY FILL-UP, CREATING BOTH ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERNS AND POTENTIAL HAZARDOUS CONDITIONS. *TR
SPIT BACK OF FUEL WHEN TANK IS FULL. *TR
UPON REFILLING MY 2005 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED WITH GASOLINE WHEN THE GAS PUMP SHUTS OFF THERE IS A BLOW BACK OF ROUGHLY 1 QUART OF GASOLINE. THIS HAPPENS EACH AND EVERY TIME I RE-FUEL AND EACH TIME IT IS ROUGHLY THE SAME AMOUNT OF BLOW BACK. *TR
THE ACCELERATOR (GAS PEDAL) INITIALLY FELT AS THOUGH IT WERE STUCK, AS IF THERE WAS A BLOCK UNDER IT, WHEN DRIVING AT APPROXIMATELY 20 MPH. THEN SUDDENLY THERE WAS UNINTENDED ACCELERATION WITH THE ACCELERATOR STUCK AT FULL THROTTLE. ONLY AFTER THE VEHICLE HIT 2 PARKED CARS DID THE VEHICLE COME TO A STOP.
WHEN FILLING THE FUEL TANK, GASOLINE SHOOTS OUT THE FILLER NECK BEFORE THE PUMP SHUTS OFF. THIS HAPPENS CONSISTENTLY AND AT ALL GAS STATIONS TRIED. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT THIS IS NOT AN ISOLATED INCIDENT AND OCCURS ON MANY JEEP WRANGLER VEHICLES. *TT
I HAD BOUGHT A JEEP WRANGLER WITH APPROX 45000 MILES. RIGHT AROUND THE 55000 THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND THEN I STARTED HAVING GAS BLOW OUT OF THE GAS TANK DURING REFUELING. THE JEEP NOW HAS 85000 AND STILL HAS THE GAS BLOW BACK. I HAD TAKEN IT TO A JEEP DEALER AND THE MENTION THAT IT NEEDED A SMOKE TEST. I FOUND THAT I HAD A MAJOR EVAP LEAK IN THE FUEL SYSTEM, I HAD A MECHANIC REPLACE THE FUEL HOSES. AFTER THE REPAIRS. I STILL HAVE THE FUEL BLOW BACK. I LIVE IN THE VA BEACH AREA, WHERE FUEL ON THE GROUND CAUSES AN ENVIRONMENT PROBLEM ESPECIALLY WHEN I FUEL ON NORFOLK NAVAL BASE. I HAD FUEL SPRAYED ON ME AND ALSO CAUTIONED THE WIFE, WHO ALREADY HAD IT SPLASH ON HER FACE. LUCKILY, DID NOT SPRAY IN THE EYES. WHEN PUMPING GAS THE AUTOMATIC SHUTOFF DOES NOT KICK IN FAST ENOUGH BEFORE BLOW BACK OCCURS. IT HAPPENS WITH OUT WARNING. IS THERE A RESOLUTION TO THIS ISSUE WITH THE JEEP WRANGLERS? *TR
MY FUEL TANK OVERFLOWED DURING FUEL FILL UP. THIS HAS HAPPENED THE LAST 4 OR 5 TIMES CONSISTENTLY. I EVEN TRIED TO FILL THE FUEL TANK AT THE SLOWEST SPEED POSSIBLE AND IT STILL OVERFLOWED AND CAME OUT THE FILLER NECK WHEN FULL. *TT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 JEEP WRANGLER 4X4. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AFTER FILLING THE FUEL TANK TO CAPACITY, GASOLINE WOULD SPILL FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS WHERE THEY ADVISED HIM THAT THE FUEL TANK WAS DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 52,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 54,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
WHEN TRYING TO PUT GAS INTO TANK THE GAS OVERFLOWS OUT THE FILL TUBE. *TR
EVERY TIME DURING REFUELING THE GAS SPITS, OR SPLASHES OUT. THIS CAUSES A SIGNIFICANT AMOUNT OF GASOLINE TO BE SPILLED ON THE VEHICLE AND THE GROUND. IT IS NOT ONLY A WASTE, AN ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD, BUT A SAFETY HAZARD. PLEASE DISCUSS THE MATTER FURTHER WITH JEEP. I AM NOT THE ONLY OWNER WITH THIS ISSUE, AND FAR MANY MORE OWNERS HAVE YET TO REPORT THIS PROBLEM. *TR
2005 JEEP WRANGLER. WELL MAINTAINED. HIGHEST QUALITY OIL, SPARK PLUGS, AIR FILTERS, COOLING SYSTEM. CAMSHAFT FAILURE AT ROUGHLY 50,000 MILES. EXCESSIVE WEAR CAUSING KNOCKING. DIAGNOSIS FROM CHRYSLER: NEW ENGINE REQUIRED. NO OVERHEATING, NO ABUSE. THE OIL PUMP DRIVE ASSEMBLY GEARS ARE WORN DOWN SO OIL IS NOT FLOWING PROPERLY. THIS IS A POSSIBLE CAUSE FOR THE CAMSHAFT FAILURE. THE OTHER POSSIBLE CAUSE FOR THE CAMSHAFT FAILURE IS THAT IT IS A FLAT TAPPET CAMSHAFT FROM THE FACTORY. THIS SPECIFIC TYPE OF CAMSHAFT NEEDS THE ZDDP OIL ADDITIVE. MODERN OIL DOES NOT CONTAIN ZDDP BECAUSE IT CAUSES CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILURE. WITHOUT ZDDP EXCESSIVE WEAR OCCURS. THIS IS COVERED IN SAE BULLETIN # 770087. SAE IS THE SOCIETY OF AUTOMOTIVE ENGINEERS. ONCE WEAR REACHES A CERTAIN LEVEL FURTHER WEAR IS RAPID AND CAUSES CATASTROPHIC ENGINE FAILURE.FURTHERMORE, MY JEEP IS STILL UNDER POWERTRAIN WARRANTY. HOWEVER, MY WARRANTY HAS BEEN UNLAWFULLY DENIED BECAUSE I HAVE SOME UNRELATED AFTERMARKET PARTS ON MY JEEP. LITIGATION IS PENDING ON THIS ISSUE. CHRYSLER HAS GONE AGAINST THEIR OWN WRITTEN WARRANTY, AND WELL AS FEDERAL LAW (MAGNUSON-MOSS WARRANTY ACT). *TR
EVERY TIME YOU FILL THE FUEL TANK, FUEL SPILL'S OUT ON THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND ON THE GROUND CAUSING A VERY DANGEROUS FIRE PROBABILITY. *TR
WHEN FILLING UP GAS TANK, GAS WILL SPILL OUT FOR FILL SPOUT BEFORE THE GAS NOSSEL SHUTS OFF. *TR
WHEN FILLING THE GAS TANK THE PUMP WILL STOP PUMPING GAS BUT THE FUEL WILL SPLASH OUT OF THE FILL PORT ON MY JEEP. THERE ARE MANY YOUTUBE VIDS SHOWING THIS PROBLEM. GAS IS EXPENSIVE SO I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHY THIS IS HAPPENING. *TR

FUEL SPILLS WHEN GAS TANK IS FULL EVERY TIME I FILL UP THE JEEP. MY FATHER HAS THIS SAME PROBLEM ALSO. *TR
EVERY TIME I FILL UP MY GAS TANK, THE AUTO SHUT OFF DOESN'T HAPPEN UNTIL THE TANK OVERFLOWS, THIS HAS CAUSED GAS TO SPILL OUT SOMETIMES ONTO THE PERSON FILLING UP THE TANK. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME AT ANY STATION I USE. *TR
THE OIL PUMP DRIVE ASSEMBLY (OPDA) UPPER BUSHING HAS NO WAY TO LUBRICATE DUE TO MANUFACTURING ERROR IN THE 2005 AND 2006 4.0 ENGINE. THIS CAUSES HIGH METAL TO METAL SCRAPING SOUND AND WILL RESULT IN ENGINE FAILURE. HAPPENED AFTER 38000 MILES IN A WELL MAINTAINED VEHICLE. TALKED TO MANY JEEP DEALERS AND SERVICE TECH'S AND THEY REFUSE TO GIVE ANY ASSISTANCE OR SUGGESTIONS FOR A FIX. *TR
WHILE FILLING UP MY 2005 JEEP WRANGLER NO MATTER THE SPEED OF THE GAS FLOW THERE IS A VERY LARGE AMOUNT OF GAS OVERFLOW. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME AND AT ALL GAS STATIONS I TRY. *TT
I WAS DRIVING ON THE BYPASS NEAR MY HOME AND EXPERIENCED "THE DEATH WOBBLE" BETWEEN 50-55 I THOUGHT THE FRONT END WAS FALLING OUT SO I SLOWED DOWN AND GOT TO THE SISE OF THE ROAD AND BEGAN CHECKING OUT THE VEHICLE. IT HAS HAPPENED SEVERAL TIMES SINCE. MY JEEP IS AT THE DEALERS AS I WRITE THIS GETTING CHECKED OUT. I THINK JEEP SHOULD PUT A RECALL ON THIS PROBLEM BEFORE SOMEONE GETS HURT OR KILLED. *TT
WHENEVER THE VEHICLE IS FILLED COMPLETELY WITH GAS THE GAS PUMP WILL QUIT PUMPING FUEL BUT 1/2 - 1 CUP OF FUEL SPILLS OUT EVERY TIME AFTER THE FUEL PUMP SHUTS OFF. *TR

WHEN I WAS AT A GAS STATION THAT DIDN'T HAVE A FUEL VAPOR RECOVERY SYSTEM ON THE FUEL PUMP HANDLE, FUEL WOULD SPIT BACK OUT WHEN THE FUEL TANK GOT FULL, GETTING FUEL ON THE PUMP HANDLE AND DOWN THE SIDE OF THE JEEP. *TR
FUEL SPURTS OUT OF FILLER UPON EACH FILL UP PRIOR TO PUMP KICKING OFF. IT COMES OUT WITH ENOUGH FORCE TO GET ONTO CLOTHING, ETC. THIS IS AN OBVIOUS SAFETY HAZARD. *TR
MY 2005 JEEP WRANGLER HAS STARTED SPITTING FUEL OUT WHEN I FILL UP. IT NEVER DID IT UP UNTIL THIS TIME. IT SPLASHES FUEL ON THE GROUND AND DOWN THE SIDE OF MY VEHICLE. WE ALSO GET A STRONG SMELL OF GAS IN THE VEHICLE WHEN IT HAPPENS. *TR
THE GAS TANK OVERFLOWS AND SPITS BACK GAS EVERYTIME I REFILL THE JEEP'S FUEL TANK. WHEN THE AUTOMATIC SHUTOFF ON THE GAS STATION PUMP IS ENGAGED THE GAS SPRAYS OUT OF THE FUEL CAP AREA OF THE 2005 JEEP WRANGLER. THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME REGARDLESS OF THE SPEED I AM FILLING THE TANK. *KB

EVERY TIME I NEED TO FILL MY 2005 JEEP WRANGLER WITH GAS IT SPILLS OUT OF THE NOZZLE AND ALL OVER THE GROUND RIGHT AT THE PUMP. THIS SITUATION IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS, BAD FOR THE ENVIRONMENT AND WASTEFUL. NO MATTER HOW THE NOZZLE IS HELD, WHAT GAS COMPANY I USE OR HOW SLOW I LET IT PUMP IN THE FUEL SEEMS TO CHANGE THE FINAL OUTCOME OF A LARGE SLOSH OF GASOLINE GUSHING OUT ONTO THE GROUND. AS AN ADDED CONSEQUENCE, MANY GAS STATIONS DON'T EVEN HAVE THE MEANS OR PROPER EQUIPMENT TO CLEAN UP THIS HAZARDOUS WASTE SPILL. I HAVE SEEN NOTHING RELEASED AND NO FIXES FOR THIS PROBLEM FROM JEEP OR ANY OTHER COMPANY BECAUSE APPARENTLY JEEP DOES NOT FEEL THAT IT IS IMPORTANT ENOUGH, DANGEROUS ENOUGH OR EVEN ENOUGH OF A PAIN TO THEIR CUSTOMERS TO OFFER A REMEDY. IF IT WASN'T SO DANGEROUS TO HOLD AN ELECTRONIC DEVICE WHILE FILLING MY VEHICLE, I'D HAPPILY SEND A VIDEO IN OF WHAT IT DOES WHEN IT REACHES THE TOP OF THE TANK. *TR
WHEN I FILL UP THE GAS TANK. THE VALVE IN THE TANK IS STUCK. SO IT WILL NOT AUTOMATICALLY TURN OFF THE PUMP CAUSING ME TO NOT KNOW IF IT IS FULL OR NOT. SINCE THERE IS NO WAY TO KNOW WHEN IT IS FULL IT SPILLS OUT IF THE TANK AND ALL OVER ME THE BODY OF MY CAR AND GROUND. THIS IS A WELL KNOWN COMPLAINT WITH ALL WRANGLERS IN THIS MODEL. I LOVE MY 2005 JEEP WRANGLER BUT I'M AFRAID IT'S GOING TO KILL ME OR CAUSE A MAJOR ACCIDENT. HITTING A BUMP OR ROUGH PATCH AT SPEEDS OVER 50 CAN TRIGGER A "DEATH WOBBLE." THE TIRES SPIN SIDEWAYS- UNCONTROLLABLY- AND THE CAR LITERALLY JUMPS AND SHIMMIES OUT OF CONTROL. IF I'M LUCKY I CAN GUIDE IT OFF THE FREEWAY TO A STOP. THIS HAPPENED A YEAR AGO AND I HAD MY TIRES ALIGNED, WHICH HELPED FOR A WHILE. IT STARTED AGAIN, SO I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER WHO ALIGNED MY TIRES AND REPLACED MY STEERING DAMPER. JEEP KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM- THERE'S A REPLACEMENT PART AVAILABLE FOR NEWER MODELS. I DRIVE CONSERVATIVELY, AND NEVER OFF-ROAD, AND HAVE NOT MADE ANY MODIFICATIONS TO THE FACTORY PARTS. THIS IS A DANGEROUS AND COMMON COMPLAINT- JEEP SHOULD BE MADE TO RECALL AND FIX THIS PROBLEM BEFORE PEOPLE ARE KILLED!! HOW CAN THERE HAVE BEEN NO ACTION TO DATE WITH SO MANY COMPLAINTS! *KB
FUEL OVERFLOWS FROM FILLER NECK EVERYTIME PURCHASING FUEL REGARDLESS OF FUEL STATION. THIS IS A SUBSTANTIAL QUANTITY OF FUEL THAT REPRESENTS A FIRE AND ENVIRONMENTAL HAZARD. FUEL SPLASHED OUT AND GOT ON MY 3.5 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER EVEN THOUGH SHE WAS STANDING AT WHAT WAS CONSIDERED TO BE A SAFE DISTANCE. IT IS NOT UNCOMMON FOR FUEL TO SHOOT OUT CLOSE TO 3 FEET. WHEN YOU THINK THE TANK IS ALMOST FULL EVEN WHEN SLOWING DOWN THE PUMP FUEL WILL STILL SPLASH OUT. *TT
WE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE USED WITH AROUND 12,000 MILES LAST YEAR. EVER SINCE WE BOUGHT IT, IT WILL RUN OVER WHEN PUMPING GAS. IT DOES NOT CUT OFF SO YOU JUST HAVE TO LISTEN TO STOP IT. I GOOGLED AND SAW THERE HAVE BEEN ISSUES WITH OTHER YEARS. IT WOULD BE GREAT IF THE PROBLEM COULD BE FIXED. *TR
EACH TIME I FILL THE GAS TANK, GAS GUSHES OUT ALL OVER THE SIDE OF MY JEEP AND SOMETIMES ON MYSELF. I AM AFRAID THAT SOONER OR LATER I'M GOING TO CATCH ON FIRE. PLEASE HELP. *TR
EACH TIME I FILL UP MY GAS TANK WITH FUEL, THE FUEL OVERFLOWS OUT OF THE TANK. 2005 JEEP WRANGLER RUBICON UNLIMITED OVERFLOW FUEL ONTO THE GROUND (MORE THAN 1 CUP) AT EVERY FILL UP. THE TANK ALSO STOPS SHORT OF THE EXPECTED VOLUME. VEHICLE HAS 47K MILES AND IS PAST WARRANTY. AS STATED, THIS HAPPENS AT EVERY FILLUP. THE EVAPORATIVE CONTROL FILLING UNITS (LIKE FOUND IN HOUSTON) HAVE A FURTHER ISSUE OF NOT OPERATING FASTER THAN THE FIRST 'CLICK'. THE SAFETY AND ENVIRONMENTAL ISSUE IS DIRECTLY TIED TO THE RELEASE (SOMETIMES VIOLENT) OF FUEL FROM THE FILLER NECK ONTO THE GROUND OR BYSTANDERS. WATERSHED WILL PUSH THIS RAW FUEL DIRECTLY INTO STORM DRAINS, AND IN THIS AREA, INTO OUR DRINKING WATER AQUAFER RECHARGE ZONES. *TR

I JUST BOUGHT A USED 2005 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED RUBICON AND EVERY TIME I ATTEMPT TO FILL UP AT A GAS STATION, THE PUMP FAILS TO SHUT OFF CAUSING ABOUT A HALF GALLON OF FUEL TO SPILL OUT ONTO THE VEHICLE AND THE GROUND. THIS SPILLING HAPPENS EVERY TIME REGARDLESS OF THE STATION, THE PUMP AND/OR THE TECHNIQUE USED TO FILL (AUTO, MANUAL, FAST, SLOW, NOZZLE ALL THE WAY IN, PARTIALLY OUT ETC). *TR
EVERY TIME I TRY AND FILL UP THE GAS TANK ON MY 2005 JEEP WRANGLER TJ, GAS OVERFLOWS DOWN THE SIDE OF MY VEHICLE. THIS HAPPENS AT ANY AND EVERY PUMP I GO TO. WAS DRIVING OVER 50 MILES PER HOUR WHEN I HIT A LITTLE BUMP AND MY WHOLE FRONT END OF MY JEEP STARTED TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY, I THOUGHT THE WHEELS WERE GOING TO COME OFF, I COULD BEARLY CONTROL THE STEERING WHEEL TO MAKE IT TO THE SIDE OF ROAD, I HAVE HAD LESS VIOLENT ONES BUT THEY ARE BECOMING MORE FREQUENT NOW, I JUST WENT TO DEALER AND THEY SAID MY STEERING DAMPER WILL HAVE TO BE REPLACED FOR 255.00 , I HAVE BEEN READING ALL THE COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS " DEATH WOBBLE" AND ALL THE WORK THAT PEOPLE ARE HAVING DONE ONLY TO HAVE THE ISSUE COME BACK, I DO NOT WANT TO WASTE MONEY ON ALL THE THINGS THAT THEY WILL TRY AND REPLACE ONLY TO FIND ITS NOT THE REAL ISSUE. EACH AND EVERY TIME I FILL THE VEHICLE UP WITH GASOLINE, THE FUEL SPILLS OUT OF THE GAS TANK ALL OVER THE VEHICLE. IT HAS RUINED MY FENDER FLARE NOT TO MENTION THE GASOLINE ON THE GROUND AS A RESULT OF THE FAULTY GAS TANK. THIS HAPPENS EVERY SINGLE TIME I FILL UP THE VEHICLE (REGARDLESS OF THE GAS STATION). THE ONLY WAY TO STOP THIS IS TO HANDLE IT IS IN A MANUAL PROCESS (NOT USING THE PUMP HANDLE SWITCH TO KEEP PUMP ON), HOWEVER THAT STILL DOES NOT STOP THE FUEL FROM FILLING OUT THE TANK. THIS HAS RUINED SOME OF MY CLOTHES AND AS MENTIONED, IS CREATING PLENTY OF POLLUTION EVERY SPILL. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH WRANGLERS AS IT IS COMMONLY REPORTED IN ONLINE FORUMS. I AM ASKING FOR CHRYSLER'S ASSISTANCE IN GETTING THIS ISSUE ADDRESSED AND THE FUEL TANK REPLACED. *TR
