FUEL TANK OVERFLOW. WHEN REFILLING FROM EMPTY, THE TANK WILL SPRAY FUEL OUT THE FILLER SPOUT AFTER THE PUMP SHOTS OFF AUTOMATICALLY. DEALER HAS REPLACED THE EVAP CANISTER AND ESSIM VALVE AND RESULTS ARE THE SAME. IT STILL "BURPS" FUEL OUT AND MAKES A MESS. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE ADDING GASOLINE TO THE FUEL TANK, IT SPRAYED BACK OUT OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 28,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 32,000.
TL*-THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER 2-DR 4X4. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH A BANGING SOUND WAS COMING FROM THE ENGINE, FOLLOWED BY A DECREASE IN THE ENGINE POWER. THE VEHICLE CONTINUED IN OPERATION TO THE RESIDENCE, AND UPON INSPECTING THE VEHICLE THERE WAS NO OIL IN THE ENGINE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 40,000.
RE: CHRYSLER SAFETY RECALL J24 - MOPAR TOW E. *TR
CHRYSLER SAFETY RECALL J24, MOPAR TOW BAR. THERE APPEARS TO BE A PROBLEM WITHIN CHRYSLER/JEEP ABILITY TO FIX THE PROBLEM. EVEN THOUGH THE RECALL AFFECTS ONLY 308 UNITS THE REPAIR PARTS ARE NOT READILY AVAILABLE. DEALERS ARE RESTRICTED TO ORDERING ONLY ONE REPAIR KIT PER WEEK. THE DEALER KNOWS NOTHING THE CHRYSLER HOT LINE ASSURED ME (AFTER I INQUIRED ABOUT THE REPAIR) THAT THE REPAIR KIT FOR MY VEHICLE WOULD BE SENT TO THE DEALER. THEY ANSWERED MY QUESTION OF WHEN BY SAYING THEY DIDN'T KNOW WHEN THE KIT WOULD BE SENT. GREAT. NO MORE VACATION TRAVEL PULLING A JEEP BEHIND THE RV UNTIL THE KIT FINALLY COMES IN. IT APPEARS THAT NOTIFICATION OF A PROBLEM AND SOLVING THE PROBLEM ARE NOT ONE IN THE SAME. *TR
I PURCHASE A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER AS AN OFF ROAD VEHICLE. THE MODEL HAS A KEY RECOGNITION KEY AND IN THIS LAST YEAR HAS FAILED TWICE. BOTH TIMES WE HAVE HAD TO HAVE THE VEHICLE TOWED TO A DEALER, REPLACE THE WCM, AND REPROGRAM THE KEY. THE SAFETY ISSUE IS: FORTUNATELY I WAS IN EDMONTON BOTH TIMES THE WCM FAILED. IF IT HAD BEEN ONE MONTH EARLIER I WAS 50 MILES IN THE BUSH WITH AN 80 YEAR OLD DIABETIC. NO CELL PHONE ACCESS. THERE IS NO MANUAL OVERRIDE FOR THIS VEHICLE THEREFORE YOU ARE STRANDED. IT SHOULD NOT BE MARKETED AS AN OFF ROAD VEHICLE UNTIL THE PROBLEM IS CORRECTED. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ADDING FUEL TO THE VEHICLE, HE NOTICED THAT THE FILLER NECK WOULD "SPIT" GASOLINE OUT WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS ALMOST FULL. HE NOTICED THE PROBLEM EVERY TIME HE ADDED FUEL TO THE TANK. HE CALLED THE DEALERSHIP AND WAS TOLD ABOUT TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETINS BUT THAT THEY WERE FOR VEHICLES UNDER WARRANTY. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN INSPECTED OR REPAIRED AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE CONTACT HAD NOT CALLED THE MANUFACTURER TO-DATE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 39,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 34,000.
INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6) WAITING OVER 5 MONTHS TO REPAIR A RECALL NOTICE FORM JEEP. I CALLED THE DEALER MIDDLE OF NOVEMBER, THEY CALLED BACK 1ST WEEK IN DECEMBER, STATING PARTS WERE IN AND TO COME IN AND THEY WOULD FIX IT. WHEN I ARRIVED THEY STATED THEY DID NOT HAVE ALL THE PARTS AND I WOULD HAVE TO COME BACK. I AM STILL WAITING. IT IS THE TOWING SYSTEM, JEEP STATES THAT YOU SHOULD NOT TOW UNTIL IT IS REPLACE. I HAVE CHECK EACH MONTH AND THEY KEEP TELLING ME NO PARTS ARE BEING MADE YET AND THEY WOULD LET ME KNOW AS SOON AS THEY GET THEM. TL*THE CONTACT 2008 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 60 MPH THE VEHICLE DROVE OVER A BUMP AND THE FRONT END STARTED SHAKING VIOLENTLY. THE CONTACT DESCRIBED THE SHAKING AS THE "DEATH WOBBLE". THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THE TIRES NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE CONTACT DID NOT CHANGE THE TIRES AND STATED THAT THE SWAY BAR CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO SHAKE. THE CONTACT WAS CONCERNED THAT THE FAILURE COULD CAUSE A SERIOUS CRASH TO OCCUR. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 50,000.
I HAVE A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER, 2 DOOR, 4X4. THE PAST 4-5 TIMES I HAVE FILLED UP WITH GAS, THE GAS HANDLE STOPS WHEN FULL, THEN GAS STARTS GUSHING BACK OUT GETTING ALL OVER THE SIDE OF THE VEHICLE AND GROUND, MY ESTIMATE WOULD BE 1/4-1/2 A GALLON EACH TIME, MINIMUM. *TR

WHEN FUELING MY 2008 JEEP WRANGLER GAS ALWAYS SPILLS OUT. I HAVE HAD IT FOR OVER A YEAR AND IT JUST STARTED ABOUT TWO MONTHS AGO. I PUT THE GAS NOZZLE IN THE FILL TUBE AND CLICK IT ON AUTO FILL. THE NOZZLE WILL CLICK OFF THEN A SECOND LATER GAS COMES SHOOTING OUT. I'VE READ ON A FORUM THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND BELIEVE JEEP SHOULD ISSUE A RECALL AND FIX THE PROBLEM. PROBLEMS WITH STEERING STARTED AT 3600 MILES AND HAVE GOTTEN PROGRESSIVELY WORSE TO THE POINT OF NEARLY CAUSING ACCIDENTS. JIGGLES AND EXCESSIVE PLAY IN STEERING ON NORMAL ROADS AND WRETCHING STEERING ON BUMPY MOUNTAIN ROADS TO THE POINT OF SWERVING INTO OTHER LANES. JEEP TIGHTENED STEERING GEAR BOX TWICE AND STATED "IT WAS JUST LOOSE" HOWEVER AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRED, THEY NOW SAY THE GEAR BOX IS DESTROYED AND I NEED A NEW ONE. THE STEERING GEAR BOX IS AN ISSUE THAT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED WITH CHRYSLER AS, PER THE INTERNET, 8 OF 10 JEEP WRANGLERS IN THE YEAR 2008, 2009 ARE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE. *TR
2008 JEEP WRANGLER -- GAS OVERSPILLS WHEN FILLING UP. HAPPENS AT DIFFERENT GAS STATIONS NUMEROUS TIMES. *TR
2008 WRANGLER 2 DOOR. AT ABOUT 25,000 MILES, STARTED OVERFLOWING WHEN I FILLED UP GAS TANK. I DIDN'T WORRY ABOUT IT TOO MUCH UNTIL I HAD ANOTHER ISSUE AND WENT IN FOR SERVICE AT THE DEALER. THAT IS WHEN I COMPLAINED ABOUT IT. THEY SAID THE SHUT-OFF VALVE INSIDE THE TANK WAS STUCK AND REPLACED THE GAS TANK. 100 MILES LATER, THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. DEALER INSPECTED IT AND SAID THERE WAS A FAULTY EMISSIONS VALVE ON THE GAS TANK AND WOULD HAVE TO REPLACE IT AGAIN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED X. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 40 MPH OVER A ROAD BUMP, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY WITHOUT ANY WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THE TECHNICIAN ADVISED THAT THE BRACKET AND STEERING STABILIZER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND ADVISED THE CONTACT THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN ANY RECALLS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 10,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 91,000.
AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON INTERMITTENTLY. REPAIR SHOP DIAGNOSED CLOCK SPRING. REPLACED IT. PROBLEM WAS ELIMINATED. I SEE THIS IS A COMMON OCCURRENCE FOR THIS VEHICLE. JEEP SHOULD HAVE A RECALL AND FIX IT AT NO COST. ONLY HAD ABOUT 38,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE WHEN THE CLOCK SPRING WENT BAD. *TR

UPON RESTART, THE VEHICLE OPERATED AS NORMAL. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS AND THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE ENGINE WOULD NOT ALWAYS RESTART IMMEDIATELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER, WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT A FAULTY OXYGEN SENSOR CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER, WHERE THE ENTIRE ENGINE WAS REPLACED. THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT RESTART AFTER THE MOST RECENT FAILURE AND WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER, WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE TOTAL INTEGRATED POWER MODULE FAILED. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE, BUT OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,000.
HORN STOPPED WORKING AFTER ABOUT A YEAR AFTER PURCHASE OF NEW WRANGLER. BAD CLOCK SPRINGS ARE ALL OVER JEEP FORUMS. WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A HORN, BUT DO NOT WANT TO SPEND MANY DOLLARS FOR SAME PART THAT WILL AGAIN FAIL. NEEDS TO BE UPGRADED! NO HORN FOR 5-YEARS. PLEASE HELP. *TR
WHEN FILLING THE FUEL TANK GAS COMES RUSHING OUT OF THE FILLER NECK A COUPLE OF SECONDS AFTER THE TANK REACHES FULL AND THE AUTO-SHUT OFF ON THE FUEL STATIONS FILL PUMP SHUTS OFF. FROM THE TIME I BOUGHT THE CAR, WHEN I WOULD PUT IT INTO 1ST GEAR, IT WOULD POP OUT OF GEAR ONCE I APPLIED THE GAS. THIS WOULD HAPPEN DAILY. I TOLD MY DEALER ABOUT THIS AND BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM, THEY WERE UNABLE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT. FINALLY, ALMOST 2 YEARS LATER, I WAS ON THE FREEWAY AND THE WHOLE GEAR SHIFTER CAME OUT AND I WAS UNABLE TO PUT THE CAR INTO NEUTRAL, ALMOST GETTING INTO AN ACCIDENT. I THEN HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALER WHERE THEY REPLACED THE GEAR SHIFTER AND TOLD ME THAT THE PART THAT HELD IT TOGETHER WAS BROKEN AND THAT MUST HAVE BEEN THE REASON WHY IT WOULD POP OUT OF GEAR, BECAUSE IT WAS NEVER ABLE TO BE LOCKED IN PROPERLY. THEY STILL CAN NOT OPEN UP THE INSIDES TO SEE IF THERE IS ANYTHING ELSE WRONG UNLESS THE PROBLEM HAPPENS AGAIN AND THEY ARE ABLE TO WITNESS IT. SO BASICALLY, I HAVE TO BE PUT IN A SITUATION WHERE THIS CAN HAPPEN AGAIN IN ORDER FOR THEM TO "MAYBE" WITNESS IT, OR I CAN GET INTO A TERRIBLE ACCIDENT, SOMETHING I NARROWLY ESCAPED LAST TIME. THEY CAN NOT OPEN ANYTHING UP BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT GET REIMBURSED UNLESS THEY ARE CERTAIN SOMETHING IS WRONG, THEN THEY WILL GO TO THE SOURCE AND INVESTIGATE, WHEN THEY KNOW THEY WILL GET PAID FOR IT. *TR

GAS TANK OVERFILLS AND COMES OUT BEFORE THE PUMP AUTO SHUT OFF ACTIVATES. ALSO SMELL GAS IN SIDE THE VEHICLE IF GOING OVER A ROUGH ROAD WHEN THE TANK IS ALMOST FULL.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AND DEPRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, THE VEHICLE WOULD SHIFT INTO NEUTRAL. THE FAILURE WOULD RECUR SPORADICALLY AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE DEALER REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION TWICE IN AN ATTEMPT TO CORRECT THE FAILURE BUT TO NO AVAIL AND THE FAILURE WOULD RECUR WITHIN SIX MONTHS FOLLOWING REPAIRS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO ADVISED THAT IT WOULD BE LEFT UP TO THE DEALER TO REPAIR THE FAILURE AND OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 40,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE 81,850.
THE JEEP SHAKES VIOLENTLY WHEN IT HITS A BUMP IN THE ROAD. IT SEEMS TO HAPPEN MOSTLY ON THE HIGHWAYS, ALTHOUGH IT WILL OCCUR ON A CITY ROAD. DURING THIS SHAKING THE BRAKES DO NOT SLOW THE CAR DOWN AND IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO STEER TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THIS IS EXTREMELY SCARY AND DANGEROUS. THE CAR HAS BEEN IN NUMEROUS TIMES AND NOTHING SEEMS TO FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
2008 JEEP WRANGLER MANUAL TRANSMISSION WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE IT WILL JUMP OUT OF GEAR JEEP WAS BOUGHT NEW AND HAS BEEN BACK TO DEALERS VANN DODGE NJ 3 TIMES STILL NOT CORRECTED AND THE VEHICLE IS STILL THERE. 1ST TIME THEY SAID THE SHIFT BOOT NEEDED TO BE TRIMMED, 2ND TIME THEY SAID IT WAS BECAUSE IT WAS COLD OUT AND THAT JEEPS DO THIS, NOW IT IS THERE FOR THE 3RD TIME AND THEY SAY THEY WHEN THEY DRIVE IT, IT STILL HAS NOT JUMPED OUT OF GEAR. JEEP ALSOHAS BEEN LEAKING TRANSMISSION FLUID AND POWER STEERING FLUID THAT HAS BEEN THERE 2 TIMES TO BE FIXED. STILL A PROBLEM. JEEP WAS BOUGHT BRAND NEW AND HAS HAD THE SAME PROBLEMS SINCE THE DAY I BOUGHT IT. BOUGHT VEHICLE BRAND NEW SO I WOULD NOT HAVE ANY PROBLEMS. WILL CONTACT LEMON LAW SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE AND I FEEL THE DEALER JUST DOES NOT WANT TO FIX THE PROBLEM GETTING THE RUN AROUND. I SPENT ALOT OF MONEY ON THIS VEHICLE AND FEEL I GOT STUCK. *TR
MY 2008 JEEP WRANGLER SPEWS GAS AFTER THE AUTOMATIC SHUT-OFF. I DO NOT TOP OFF AND HAVE TRIED SEVERAL GAS STATIONS. THE GAS PUMPS CLICKS OFF AND 3 SECONDS LATER I HEAR A GURGLE AND ABOUT 2 CUPS OF FUEL VOMITS OUT, RUNS DOWN MY PAINT, PLASTIC BUMPER AND ON THE GROUND. THIS SEEMS TO BE A VERY SERIOUS AND DANGEROUS THING. I HAVE TAKEN MY JEEP BACK TO THE DEALER WHO REPLACED THE GAS TANK. THE FIRST FILL UP WITH THE NEW TANK HAD NO ISSUES, FROM THE SECOND FILL UP ON IT SPEWS. *TR
EVERYTIME I FILL MY 2008 WRANGLER WITH FUEL, IT SPILLS ALL OVER INCLUDING ME. THIS IS A FIRE HAZARD AS FUEL SPILLS ALL OVER MYSELF AND THE JEEP. I HAVE TRIED DIFFERENT STATIONS AND STILL THE SAME RESULT. CHRYSLER SAYS THERE IS NOTHING WRONG BUT I FEEL THIS IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN. EXPOSED FUEL IN HOT TEMP WITH THE POSSIBILITY OF SPARKS BY OTHER SOURCES WHILE FUELING. IT STARTED DOING THIS LAST JULY 2009 AND CONTINUES TO THIS DAY. *TR

THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH APPROACHING A STOP SIGN WHEN THE CLUTCH ENGAGED, THE VEHICLE SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL GEAR VIOLENTLY WITHOUT WARNING. THE FAILURE OCCURRED SPORADICALLY AFTER THE CONTACT ENGAGE THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL FROM A COMPLETE STOP. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON TWO OCCASIONS FOR THE IDENTICAL FAILURE. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED WHEN THE COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 24,000.
STEERING WHEEL IS LOST GOES ALL OVER THE ROAD SHIFTS BAD RPM GOES UP TO 5 HOT OIL LIGHTS COMES ON
FUELING HAS BEEN AN ONGOING PROBLEM. I HAD A SHUT OFF PROBLEM IN THAT THE GAS WOULD EJECT FROM THE CAR. THEN I HAD A PROBLEM WITH SLOW FUELING. IT MIGHT TAKE A GALLON THEN ALMOST STOP TAKING FOREVER TO PUT FUEL INTO THE VEHICLE. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO BEGNAL MOTORS IN KINGSTON AND THEY DID ADDRESS THE ISSUE AND REPLACED THE INTAKE NOZZLE? I TOOK IT BACK TO BEGNAL AND THEY SEEMED TO BELIEVE THE ONLY SOLUTION WAS TO REPLACE THE GAS TANK AT MY EXPENSE! THIS IS A LIABILITY TO MY SAFETY. I DROVE THE JEEP TO CALIFORNIA AND BACK THE END OF JUNE OF THIS YEAR AND NEVER HAD A PROBLEM...I HAVE TO USE MY VEHICLE FOR MANY TRIPS OUT OF TOWN AND IT IS FRIGHTENING AS THEY TOLD ME THIS PROBLEM WOULD PROBABLY GET WORSE! THIS IS DEFINITELY AN ENGINEERING PROBLEM AND SHOULD BE TAKEN CARE OF BY CHRYSLER. IT SEEMS THAT THERE IS AN ON GOING ISSUE WITH THE FUEL SYSTEM.

MY 2008 JEEP WRANGLER SHAKES WHEN GOING OVER A BUMP OR WHEN I ACCELERATE AT 40 MPH. IT IS SCARY, IT FEELS LIKE DRIVING ON BLACK ICE. I HAD THE TIRES CHECKED AND THEY ARE FINE. THERE MUST BE A PROBLEM WITH THE STEERING COMPONENT. ALSO, FREEDOM TOP HAS LEAKED AND STAINED MY SEATS. DEALERSHIP JUST FIXED IT A MONTH AGO. ALSO, THE JEEP WAS LEAKING OIL, DEALERSHIP JUST FIXED THE INTAKE MANIFOLD GASKET 3 WEEKS AGO. IT IS SCHEDULED TO GO BACK TO DEALERSHIP FOR THIS STEERING ISSUE AND IT IS RUSTING ON BOTH DOORS. POOR, POOR QUALITY. I AM VERY UNHAPPY WITH THIS VEHICLE. I HAVE LOOKED UP RECALLS AND NONE ARE LISTED FOR MY ISSUES , SO I AM STARTING TO FEEL LIKE I OWN A LEMON. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER. HE STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 25 MPH, WHILE GOING OVER A PATH, HE NOTICED A HOT FLUID SMELL. WHEN HE PULLED OVER HE NOTICED THAT THERE WERE FLAMES COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. HE OPENED THE HOOD AND THE VEHICLE IT BURST INTO FLAMES, THE FIRE WAS PUT OUT WITH A FIRE EXTINGUISHER. THERE WERE DAMAGES TO THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT.THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO HIS RESIDENCE. THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND THEY STATED THAT IT WILL BE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY, HOWEVER THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT CAUSED THE FIRE. THERE WERE REPAIRS DONE TO THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13900 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 14000.
WHILE REFUELING MY 2008 JEEP WRANGLER THE FUEL FILL WOULD OVERFLOW WHEN FULL RATHER THAN CAUSE THE GAS PUMP TO TRIP. THIS HAPPENED EVERY TIME I WOULD REFUEL. I TOOK THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER AND THEY REPLACED THE GAS TANK AND THE EVAP CANISTER. *TR
THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON INTERMITTENTLY FOR A PERIOD OF APPRX. 10 DAYS THEN STAYED ON CONSTANTLY. WHEN THE AIR BAG LIGHT IS ON THE AIRBAGS ARE NOT FUNCTIONING. THE JEEP DEALER SAYS IT IS A PROBLEM WITH A CLOCK SPRING SENSOR IN THE STEERING WHEEL. THE JEEP IS NOT COVERED BY WARRANTY AND THE MECHANIC TOLD ME IT IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM THAT WOULD MOST LIKELY REOCCUR. I WOULD HAVE TO PAY TO FIX THE JEEP AND PAY AGAIN WHEN THE PART WENT BAD AGAIN. COMPUTER CRASHED AND REPLACED A YEAR LATER STILL MESSING UP DOING THE FOLLOWING: CAR SHUTS AND LOCK UP WHILE DRIVING, HEADLIGHTS GO OFF WHILE NIGHT DRIVING,HORN GOES IN AND OUT, AIR LIGHT BAG ON AND DINGS,HORN HONKS CONTINUOUSLY, WIPERS AND WASHER FLUID GOING CONTINUOUSLY , LIGHTS BLINKING AND FLASHING CONTINUOUSLY, CAR WILL NOT SHUT OFF IN OFF POSITION, AIR TEMPERATURE IS NOT READING RIGHT OR AT ALL, AIR CONDITIONING GOES OUT. ALL OF THESE CAN BE STOPPED BY TURNING THE CAR OFF AND RESTARTING OR IN BAD TIMES IT HAS TO HAVE THE YELLOW RECTANGLE FUSE THING PULLED OUT AND PLUGGED BACK IN LOCATED IN THE FUSE BOX. STEERING DAMPER HAS GONE OUT, FUEL SPILLAGE IT DOESN'T SHUT OFF AND TRANSFER CASE MESSED UP. NEVER KNOW WHEN THE COMPUTER IS GOING TO DO SOMETHING SCREWY.JUST HOPE IT DOESN'T CAUSE A WRECK BY LOCKING UP AND QUITTING WHILE DRIVING HEADLIGHTS GOING OFF IN NIGHT DRIVING BECAUSE THERE WILL BE MAJOR LAWSUITS ON ALL SIDES. AT 13K MILES I WAS FORCED TO PAY FOR A NEW CLUTCH. THIS IS MY SECOND JEEP, SO I CLEARLY KNOW HOW TO DRIVE IT. AT THIS LOW MILEAGE THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE AND HIGHLY SUSPICIOUS. JUST OUTSIDE OF WARRANTY. JEEP REFUSED TO EVEN DISCUSS THE MATTER. WHEN I RETURNED A CALL IN THEIR FINDINGS I WAS REPEATEDLY READ THE E-MAIL I SENT AND NOTHING WAS EXPLAINED. PERSISTENT FUEL OVERFLOW ISSUE SINCE 4/25/09. EVERY TIME I FUEL THE VEHICLE, FUEL COMES OUT OF THE FILLER TUBE AND SPILLS ON THE VEHICLE AND PAVEMENT.
MY 2008 JEEP WRANGLER X'S GAS TANK OVERFLOWS UPON THE LAST BIT OF FILLING THE TANK. IT STARTED AT ABOUT 20,000 MI. THE GAS PUMP SHUTS OFF, AND THEN WAIT A FEW SECONDS TO HEAR IT COMING UP THE THROAT OF THE TANK AND IT SPILLS A GOOD AMOUNT OF GAS EVERYWHERE, NOT JUST A FEW DROPS. THERE WERE NO PARTICULAR EVENTS LEADING UP TO THE FAILURE, AND IT OCCURS 9/10 TIMES THAT I GET GAS. IT DOES NOT MATTER WHICH GAS STATION I GO TO, OR WHAT PUMP IS BEING USED. CHRYSLER TOLD ME WHEN I BROUGHT THE JEEP INTO THE JEEP SERVICE DEPARTMENT THAT "THEY HAVE NO SOLUTION FOR THE PROBLEM". *TR
THE VEHICLE HAS THE NOTORIOUS DEATH WOBBLE, IN THAT ON CERTAIN DOWNHILL GRADES AND OR HITTING A SERIES OF SMALL BUMPS BETWEEN 45 -55 MPH THE FRONT END VIOLENTLY BEGINS TO WOBBLE, THE CAB BEGINS ROCKING, THE STEERING WHEEL IS OUT OF CONTROL, AND AFTER BRAKING TO 35MPH CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE IS REGAINED. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN ALTERED IN ANY WAY FROM THE FACTORY. IT WAS PURCHASED WITH 12 MILES ON ODOMETER AND KNOW HAS 28.889 MILES. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN IN SERVICE AT THE DEALER NUMEROUS TIME FOR REPAIRS, AND EACH TIME THE DEALER SAYS THAT SHOULD SOLVE THE PROBLEM, BUT DOES NOT, IN FACT THE JEEP GOES BACK IN NEXT MONDAY FOR FURTHER REPAIRS. I'VE CONTACTED JEEP TWICE TO NO AVAIL, THEY PRETEND TO NEVER HAVE HEARD OF THE PROBLEM AS DOES THE DEALER ALTHOUGH THEY STILL FIND SOMETHING TO REPAIR BUT NEVER FULLY FIXING THE PROBLEM. IF ONE GOES TO GOOGLE AND TYPES IN DEATH WOBBLE UP COME JEEP, WITH VIDEOS OF THE WOBBLE BUT I GUESS THEY DON'T HAVE INTERNET ACCESS FOR THEIR EYES GLAZE OVER IN INCOMPREHENSION AND DENIAL. I HAVE A 2008 JEEP WRANGLER AND EVERY TIME I GO TO FILL UP MY GAS TANK, THE TANK WILL NOT AUTOMATICALLY CUT OFF THE GAS PUMP WHEN THE TANK IS FULL. THIS HAS BEEN OCCURRING FOR APPROX THE LAST 15,000 MILES AND I CURRENTLY HAVE 27,000 MILES ON THE JEEP. THE VEHICLE WAS BRAND NEW WHEN I PURCHASED IT. I HAVE THIS PROBLEM AT EVERY GAS STATION I HAVE TRIED SO I DO NOT BELIEVE IT IS A GAS PUMP FAILURE. I HAVE ALSO FILLED OTHER CARS AT THE SAME GAS STATIONS WITH NO PROBLEMS. *TR
UNDER NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS OR EVEN WHILE THE VEHICLE IS AT A COMPLETE STOP THE FRONT PASSENGER SIDE SEAT BELT WILL LOCK UP. IF THE FRONT PASSENGER (MY WIFE) SITS BACK THE BELT WILL ONLY TIGHTEN. THE ONLY WAY FOR THE SEAT BELT TO RELEASE AND BE WORN PROPERLY AGAIN IS THE BELT MUST BE REMOVED AND PUT INTO A REST POSITION. THERE IS NO BRAKING AND HARD TURNS OR ACCELERATION BEING DONE AT ANYTIME THAT THIS HAPPENS. AFTER TAKING IT TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES I AM ONLY TOLD THAT THE PROBLEM CAN NOT BE REPRODUCED AND NOTHING CAN BE DONE. IT HAPPENS RANDOMLY AND USUALLY WHILE WE ARE DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY. NOT A GOOD TIME TO HAVE TO REMOVE THE SEAT BELT IN ORDER FOR IT TO WORK PROPERLY AGAIN. NOTE; THERE IS NO SUDDEN MOVEMENTS BEING DONE BY PASSENGER. 2008 JEEP WRANGLER. THERE IS A POORLY DESIGNED BRACKET RIGHT BEHIND THE DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS HEAD. THE BRACKET HAS A SHARP METAL CORNER RIGHT BEHIND THE FRONT DRIVERS AND PASSENGERS HEADS. IF THERE EVEN SMALL ACCIDENT, THERE WOULD BE SIGNIFICANT TRAUMA TO THE HEAD IF THEY WERE TO HIT THE BRACKET. CURRENTLY THIS BRACKET IS ONLY COVERED BY A STYROFOAM PIECE. THIS BRACKET SITS RIGHT ON THE ROLL BAR AND CAN EASILY BE FIXED THE TRAUMA THAT INDIVIDUALS WOULD GET FROM THIS BRACKET WOULD BE SIGNIFICANT. IT IS LOCATED RIGHT NEXT TO THE PLASTIC SOUND BAR UNDERNEATH SOME STYROFOAM. *TR
