I did not have a check engine light. I began to notice a slight ticking sound. I took it to a dealership and they say I need a brand new engine. I have had no issues with my vehicle and have maintained it well. I went from a slight ticking sound to a $11,000 estimate for an engine swap. My Jeep only has about 66,000 miles on it.

The contact stated that while the vehicle was parked in his driveway three to four feet away from the house the vehicle caught on fire and burned his house down The vehicle and the house was condemned total loss. A Police and Fire report was filed. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 107,000.

The contact then stated that she exit the vehicle and noticed that everything under the hood started to melt. No injuries were sustained. No medical attention was required. The air bags did not deploy. No police report was filed. The fire department extinguished the fire. The vehicle was towed to a tow yard. Additionally, the contact stated that on two separate occasions while driving at various speeds, the gears failed to shift into second gear. No warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer nor the manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 140,000.
TL* THE CONTACT CALLED ON BEHALF OF HIS DAUGHTER WHO OWNS A 2010 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE HIS DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE VEHICLE AND DETERMINED THAT THE NUMBER 3 SPARK PLUG WIRE AND EGR VALVE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. SOUTH COUNTY DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP RAM (7127 S LINDBERGH BLVD, SAINT LOUIS, MO 63125, (888) 486-1749) WAS CONTACTED AND INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THE VIN WAS NOT UNDER RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN BACK TO THE INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR A SECOND DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE EGR NEEDED TO BE REPROGRAMMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 100,000.

ENGINE STARTED MAKING A RATTLING NOISE AT 54,200 MILES. NO ENGINE LIGHTS OR OIL PRESSURE INDICATORS. BROUGHT IN TO HAVE CHECKED & FOUND TO HAVE NO ENGINE OIL, LOW ENGINE COOLANT. THERE WAS ENOUGH DAMAGE DONE TO THE ENGINE THAT I'M HAVING TO HAVE AN ENTIRE NEW ENGINE INSTALLED AS IT WAS MORE COST EFFECTIVE THAN REPLACING THE INDIVIDUAL PARTS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN UNKNOWN JEEP DEALER IN MANHATTAN, NY WHERE FAILURE CODE: P1745 WAS LOCATED. THE DEALER REPLACED THE TRANSMISSION, BUT THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 60,000.
TAKATA RECALL WHEN AT A STOP AND IN FIRST GEAR, WHEN I PROCEED TO GO FORWARD THE GEAR WILL POP OUT OF 1ST INTO NEUTRAL. THIS HAPPENS SEVERAL TIMES A WEEK. SPORADIC.

HEAVY OIL CONSUMPTION 3-4 QUARTS EVERY 2000 MILES .. I BOUGHT THE JEEP NEW IN AUG. 2010 IT HAS 48200 MILES ON IT.. IT IS JUST OUT OF WARRANTY. TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND CALLED CHRYSLER. THEY WONT DO ANYTHING AND TOLD ME THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THAT. SO I TOOK IT TO A LOCAL MACHINE SHOP AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE PISTON RINGS ARE STICKING TO THE PISTONS ALLOWING OIL INTO THE COMBUSTION CHAMBER. THEIR ARE MANY COMPLAINTS ONLINE ABOUT THIS EXACT PROBLEM
THE HEATER CORE IS LEAKING I BELIEVE BECAUSE I SMELL ANTIFREEZE IN THE JEEP WHEN HEAT IS ON I CONTACTED JEEP THEY SAID ITS NOT A SAFETY ISSUE SO WILL NOT FIX I THINK IT IS A SAFETY ISSUE I HAVE 5 KIDS AND A WIFE WHO TRAVEL IN THERE AND ALL COMPLAIN OF HEADACHES AFTER RIDING IN THERE . THE 2010 JEEP WRANGLER UNLIMITED WAS PARKED AND RUNNING WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT TURNED OFF. I ATTEMPTED TO START, AND HEARD MY SISTER YELLING GET THE CAR IS ON FIRE. ONCE OUT OF THE JEEP I LOOKED UNDER IT AND SAW AN UNKNOWN LIQUID BURNING DOWN TO THE GROUND FROM THE ENGINE AREA. I ATTEMPTED TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE WITH WATER BUT I WAS UNSUCCESSFUL. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO TWO DIFFERENT DEALERS. THE ENGINE WAS FLUSHED, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE VEHICLE WAS TO BE TAKEN BACK TO A DEALER FOR FURTHER DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. ON 9-2-211 WAS DRIVING HOME AND SMELT SOMETHING BURNING. PULLED OVER AND NOTICED SMOKE COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. UPON OPENING HOOD QUICKLY REALIZED IT WAS ON FIRE. OUR DAUGHTER'S 2010 JEEP WRANGLER CAUGHT ON FIRE JUST AS SHE HAD PARKED IT IN HER UNDERGROUND PARKING GARAGE. SHE WAS SITTING IN THE CAR, LISTENING TO THE END OF A SONG, WHEN SMOKE STARTED POURING OUT OF THE HOOD OF THE CAR. THEN IS BURST INTO FLAMES. SHE JUMPED OUT AND RAN OUT OF THE GARAGE AND THEN CALLED THE FIRE DEPARTMENT AND US. SHE HAD ONLY OWNED THE CAR FOR A LITTLE OVER THREE MONTHS AND BOUGHT IT FROM HAMPTON IMPORTS NEAR DESTIN, FLORIDA. STATE FARM INVESTIGATED, AS WELL AS THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. NEITHER COULD FIND A CAUSE. I CALLED CHRYSLER, BECAUSE I HAD READ THAT CHINA WAS NO LONGER ALLOWING THE WRANGLER IN THEIR COUNTRY DUE TO FIRE CONCERNS. THEY DID INVESTIGATE AND FOUND NO CAUSE. I WROTE A FOLLOW-UP LETTER TO THE CHRYSLER DIRECTOR OF CUSTOMER RELATIONS, ASKING IF THEY WERE INVESTIGATING THE SAFETY OF ALL OF THEIR JEEP WRANGLERS AND THEY NEVER REPLIED TO THE LETTER. *TR
