JEEP ISSUED A RECALL LAST JULY 7, 2013, OVER 10 MONTHS AGO, REGARDING THE TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER TUBE, SAFETY RECALL N28/NHTSA 13V-234. I HAVE ATTEMPTED NUMEROUS TIMES SINCE THEN TO SET UP AN APPOINTMENT AT MY LOCAL JEEP DEALER, BOERNE DODGE CHRYSLER JEEP IN BOERNE TX, TO HAVE THIS RECALL PERFORMED AND I HAVE BEEN TOLD EACH TIME THAT THEY DO NOT HAVE THE PARTS TO DO THIS RECALL. THEY WENT ON TO STATE THAT THEY HAVE RECEIVED, AND CONTINUE TO RECEIVE, A VERY LIMITED NUMBER OF THE PARTS REQUIRED FOR THIS RECALL AND THAT I SHOULD PUT MY NAME ON THEIR WAITING LIST FOR THE RECALL PARTS. I PLACED MY NAME ON THE LIST 6 MONTHS AGO BUT HAVE YET TO RECEIVE A PHONE CALL. I CALLED THE CHRYSLER GROUP RECALL CENTER AT 800-853-1403 AND THE CUSTOMER SERVICE REP TOLD ME THE SAME THING THE DEALER DID, THAT THEY HAD VERY LIMITED PARTS AND THAT THEY WERE UNABLE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT IT AT THIS TIME. I WOULD REQUEST THAT THIS MATTER BE LOOKED INTO, THE RECALL STATES THAT THIS DEFECT MAY INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH. SINCE I PLANNED ON LEAVING ON AN EXTENDED TRIP IN THIS VEHICLE I AM HESITANT TO TAKE THAT INCREASED RISK. THANK YOU *TR
TRAVELING STRAIGHT WHEN HIT BUMP IN ROAD, LOSS OF STEERING OCCURRED WHICH PROPELLED VEHICLE INTO PARKED CAR AND THEN SMALL BRICK WALL IN FRONT LAWN/DRIVEWAY. CAR WAS A TOTAL LOSS. *TR
I HAVE RECEIVED SEVERAL NOTICES ABOUT THE N28 TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER TUBE RECALL AND HAVE NOT HAD ANY LUCK AT THE DEALER GETTING MY RECALL REPAIRS COMPLETED. EACH TIME I GO IN FOR SERVICE I ASK ABOUT THE STATUS AND EACH TIME I'M TOLD THERE ARE NO PARTS AVAILABLE. I WAS ALSO TOLD THAT THE PARTS FOR THE RECALL ARE ON BACK ORDER AND THE DEALER ONLY GETS 2 KITS IN EACH MONTH. I WAS TOLD THAT I AM IN LINE FOR THE REPAIR BUT THEY COULD NOT TELL ME WHERE I AM IN LINE OR HOW LONG IT WILL BE BEFORE THE REPAIR IS EVEN POSSIBLE. *TR
I HAVE CONTACTED MULTIPLE DEALERSHIPS IN THE SAN ANTONIO, TX AND AUSTIN, TX METROPOLITAN AREAS AND ALL SERVICE CENTERS REFUSED TO CORRECT THE SAFETY RECALL IN MY VEHICLE. I HAVE ALSO COMPLAINED TO JEEP AND THEY INDICATE ALL DEALERSHIPS ARE BACKED UP WITH RECALLS AND THEY ARE STILL TRYING TO MAKE THE PART. THIS ISSUE HAS NOT BEEN FIXED FOR GREATER THAN 1 YEAR. NO ONE WILL HELP ME AND THE VEHICLE WAS ONLY A FEW MONTHS OLD WHEN THE SAFETY RECALL WAS ISSUED. *TR
THE HILL START ASSIST MALFUNCTIONS CONSTANTLY, THIS CAN STALL THE ENGINE WHEN STARTING OUT IN TRAFFIC AND CAUSE EXCESSIVE WARE ON THE BRAKES AND CLUTCH. THERE ARE 2 SWITCHES THAT TELL THE COMPUTER WHEN THE CLUTCH PEDAL IS PRESSED. ONE WHEN YOU FIRST START TO PRESS IN THE CLUTCH AND ANOTHER THAT TELLS THE COMPUTER WHEN THE CLUTCH IS PRESSED IN ALL THE WAY. THE HILL START ASSIST IS PROGRAMMED TO USE THE SWITCH THAT TELLS THE COMPUTER WHEN YOU FIRST START TO PRESS IN THE CLUTCH INSTEAD OF THE SWITCH THAT TELLS THE COMPUTER WHEN THE CLUTCH PEDAL IS FULLY PRESSED. THIS CAUSES THE BRAKES TO STAY LOCKED UP EVEN AFTER THE CLUTCH IS FULLY ENGAGED WHEN STARTING ON A HILL. THE COMPUTER NEEDS TO BE REPROGRAMMED TO RELEASE THE BRAKES AS SOON AS YOU START TO RELEASE THE CLUTCH PETAL BEFORE THE CLUTCH FULLY ENGAGES. THE HILL START ASSIST SHOULD USE THE SAME SWITCH THAT TELLS THE COMPUTER THE CLUTCH IS FULLY PRESSED WHICH IS THE SAME SWITCH THAT IS USED TO PREVENT THE VEHICLE FROM STARTING IN GEAR AND NOT THE SWITCH THAT TELLS THE COMPUTER WHEN THE PEDAL IS LIGHTLY PRESSED WHICH IS THE SWITCH THAT TURNS OFF THE CRUISE CONTROL. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 13V234000 (POWER TRAIN, STEERING) HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR REPAIR. THE DEALER STATED THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE DELAY. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED ANY FAILURE. 2013 JEEP WRANGLER RUBICON, CAUGHT FIRE AFTER COMING OFF OF A HIGHWAY. TRAVELING UNDER 30 MPH, I SAW FLAMES UNDERNEATH THE JEEP BEHIND ME ( MY FRIENDS JEEP ). BY THE TIME I NOTICED IT WAS A BALL OF FLAME. I IMMIDIATELY SLAMED ON THE BRAKES AND WAVED HIM DOWN. HE COULD BARELY STOP BECAUSE HIS BRAKES ALSO WENT OUT( HE SAID THE ABS LIGHT FLIPPED ON) MY OTHER FRIEND JUMPED OUT OF THE VEHICLE I WAS TRAVELING IN AND ATTEMPTED HELP SAID FRIEND IN THE WRANGLER. SAME FRIEND HAD A GIANT BUCKET OF WATER IN HIS BED OF THE TRUCK I WAS DRIVING. I GRABBED IT AND RAN TO THE WRANGLER. I LOOKED UNDERNEATH THE JEEP, THE FLAMES WERE SMALLER AND I COULD SEE THAT THE ORIGIN WAS ON TOP OF THE TRANSMISSION. THERE WAS NOTHING I COULD DO, I DIDN'T HAVE A CUP OR A DEVICE TO SCOOP WATER TO PUT THE FIRE OUT. AT THIS TIME I REALIZED THAT THIS WAS A FORM OF CHEMICAL FIRE. SO WATER WOULD HAVE MADE IT WORSE. WE EVACUATED THE AREA SINCE IT WAS SO CLOSE TO THE GAS TANK. I CALLED THE ON BASE COPS AND THE FIRE TRUCKS WERE THERE WITHIN 10. AT THIS TIME THE INTERRIOR WAS ON FIRE, THEY ATTEMPED TO PUT THE FIRE OUT BUT THE GAS TANK HAD RUPTURED. ABOUT 8 GALLONS OF GAS WAS ON ITS WAY OUT OF THE TANK. IT TOOK 2, 000 GALLONS, 2 TRUCKS, 6 FIRE EXTUINGUISHERS, AND AN UNKNOWN REFILL OF WATER FROM ANOTHER WATER TRUCK TO BOTH FIRE TRUCKS TO PUT THE FIRE OUT! I HAVE 90% OF EVERYTHING ON VIDEO. INCLUDING THE AFTER AFFECTS! *TR

TL * THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 JEEP WRANGLER. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, THE CONTACT HAD TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL TO THE FLOORBOARD IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 21,000.
I HAVE RECEIVED SEVERAL RECALL NOTICES FOR RECALL N28/13V-234, EVERY TIME I RECEIVE A NOTICE I CONTACT MY DEALER NYLE MAXWELL DODGE/CHRYSLER/JEEP OF TAYLOR TEXAS. AND EVERY TIME I AM TOLD THAT THEY HAVE NO PARTS FOR THE REPAIR, AND THEY DON'T EXPECT ANY PARTS IN. THEY DON'T TRY TO ORDER THE PARTS OR SCHEDULE A APPOINTMENT. AND I AM TOLD BY THE SERVICE PERSONEL THAT I CAN KEEP CHECKING IN AND MAYBE I WILL GET LUCKY AND THEY WILL HAVE THE PARTS. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE, THEY EITHER NEED TO FIX IT OR STOP TELLING ME THERE IS A PROBLEM THAT THEY ARE GOING TO FIX. *TR

I HAVE BEEN RECEIVING RECALL NOTICES (N28 / NHTSA 13V-234 TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER TUBE) FOR ROUGHLY A YEAR NOW BUT EVERY TIME I ASK THE DEALER ABOUT IT I GET A SONG AND DANCE ABOUT HOW IT IS CHRYSLERS FAULT THAT THEY ARE NOT GETTING THE PARTS OUT . COME ON NOW, A YEAR? 3 NOTICES AND NO PARTS? *JS
THE WIPERS COME ON INTERMITTENTLY WITH NO INPUT. DEALER WOULD NOT FIX BECAUSE THEY COULD NOT RECREATE THE ISSUE. I BELIEVE THIS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH THE TIPM WHICH CONTROLS MANY FUNCTIONS, INCLUDING THE AIRBAG DEPLOYMENT. I'M CONCERNED THIS MALFUNCTION IS POINTING TO A LARGER UNDERLYING PROBLEM.

NOTIFIED CHRYSLER ON 12/20/13 ABOUT TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER TUBE RECALL. HAVE CHECKED IN THREE TIMES TO SEE IF PART IS AVAILABLE. NO PARTS ARE AVAILABLE FOR RECALL REPAIR. SERVICE DEPT. SAYS I AM ON LIST SO WHEN PART ARRIVES I WILL BE CALLED. APPROXIMATELY I HAVE BEEN WAITING ALMOST 6 MONTHS WITH NO CALL YET. JUST CALLED TODAY AND STILL NO PARTS AVAILABLE. *TR
AT THE TIME I FIRST TRIED OUT THE VEHICLE & PRIOR TO PURCHASE THE BATTERY WAS DEAD & IT HAD TO BE "JUMP" STARTED. I REQUESTED THAT A NEW BATTERY BE INSTALLED PRIOR TO DELIVERY. I TOOK DELIVERY & ABOUT A WEEK LATER WENT ON VACATION, DID NOT TAKE JEEP. IT WAS NOT DRIVEN FOR ABOUT 3 WEEKS. WHEN I TRIED TO START IT THE JEEP WOULD NOT START, AS IF THE BATTERY WAS DEAD. I JUMPED IT & CONTINUED TO DRIVE IT, EVERY DAY FOR SEVERAL WEEKS. AFTER A FEW WEEKS, I LET THE VEHICLE SIT FOR A DAY WITHOUT STARTING AND WHEN I TRIED IT WOULD NOT START. 8/19/13 TOOK JEEP TO THE DEALER TO GET PROBLEM WITH ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FIXED. THEY TIGHTENED THE NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL & REPROGRAMMED ONE OF THE COMPUTERS. 9/2/13 JEEP WOULD NOT START, HAD TO JUMP IT. DID NOT RUN IT OR TRY TO START IT YESTERDAY. 9/30/13 JEEP WOULD NOT START & WHEN I JUMPED IT THE UCONNECT SYSTEM WOULD NOT WORK.. TOOK IT TO DEALER. THEY THINK THE RADIO IS DRAWING CURRENT FROM BATTERY. THEY REPLACED RADIO. 10/21/13. JEEP WOULD NOT START AFTER SETTING TWO DAYS. TOOK IT BACK TO JASPER JEEP. THEY ARE GOING TO TRY PUTTING A NEW BATTERY IN IT UNDER THE ASSUMPTION THAT THE PROBLEM MAY BE A BATTERY POST. SERVICE MANAGER CHECKED THE RECORDS AND COULD NOT FIND WHERE A NEW BATTERY HAD BEEN INSTALLED PRIOR TO PURCHASE. 12/30/13 9:15AM TRIED TO START JEEP, IT WOULD NOT START. GOT CLICKING SOUND LIKE LOW BATTERY, INTERIOR DASH LIGHTS WERE ON. THERE WAS A NEW DASH WARNING LIGHT ON, IT IS A RED LIGHTING BOLT. 9:38AM. STARTED IT & AFTER IT WAS CONNECTED TO "START CAR" FOR A MINUTE IT STARTED. LET IT RUN FOR A COUPLE MINUTES SHUT IT OFF & IT STARTED OK. RED LIGHTING BOLT NOT ON. FOUND SERVICE BULLETIN ISSUED BY CHRYSLER, SEPT 2013. BULLETIN NUMBER: SB-08-067-13: NHTSA ITEM NUMBER - 10053694 10:30 AM CALLED ABOUT THE SERVICE BULLETIN. THE SERV. MGR. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 40 MPH, THE VEHICLE BEGAN VIBRATING ABNORMALLY. THE CONTACT APPLIED THE BRAKES AND THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL CLICKING NOISE EXHIBITED FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A DEALER WHERE IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THERE WAS A BOLT MISSING FROM THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE BRAKE CALIPER. THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE CALIPER BRACKET, ROTOR AND SIDE WHEEL WERE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE BUT OFFERED NO FURTHER ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 312.

THE DEALER WAS CONTACTED AND STATED THAT THE PART WAS NOT AVAILABLE FOR THE REPAIR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT HE NOTICED A SMELL OF BURNING OIL WHILE DRIVING FOR EXTENDED PERIODS OF TIME. THERE HAS BEEN AN ISSUE WITH MY EMERGENCY BRAKE SINCE MY JEEP WAS NEW. IT DOES NOT HOLD ADEQUATELY, AND MUST BE PULLED EXTREMELY TIGHT TO EVEN ENGAGE AT ALL. I HAVE BEEN TOLD BY THE DEALER THAT "THAT'S JUST HOW THEY ARE." I DON'T BELIEVE THIS FOR ONE MINUTE, AND IN FACT FIND IT INSULTING THAT CHRYSLER EXPECTS CONSUMERS TO BELIEVE THIS. I HAVE NEVER OWNED A VEHICLE WHERE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE WON'T HOLD IT. I HAVE FRIENDS WHO DRIVE WRANGLERS TOO AND THEY ALL SAY THE SAME THING. DESIGN FLAW? THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN DRIVING A MANUAL AND WOULD LOVE A FUNCTIONING EMERGENCY BRAKE. *TR

I PURCHASED THE JEEP WRANGLER NEW FROM DAVID STANLEY JEEP,IN MIDWEST CITY OKLAHOMA. THE VEHICLE HAD AFTERMARKET WHEELS AND TIRES ON IT BEFORE I PURCHASED IT. WHILE TAKING THE INITIAL TEST DRIVE I ASKED THE SALESMAN IF THE SPEEDOMETER HAD BEEN ADJUSTED FOR THE OVERSIZED TIRES. HE ASSURED ME THAT IT HAD BECAUSE THEY WOULD NEVER SELL ANYTHING THAT WASN'T RIGHT. ABOUT A MONTH AFTER I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE I WAS PULLED OVER FOR GOING 30 IN A 25 ZONE. I HAD SEEN THE POLICE OFFICER PRIOR TO BEING PULLED OVER SO I CHECKED MY SPEED AND I KNEW I WAS GOING THE CORRECT SPEED. SINCE THAT TIME I MAKE IT A HABIT TO DRIVE BY THE MOBILE SPEED RADARS THAT ARE PLACED AROUND TOWN AND EVERY TIME MY SPEEDOMETER IS 5MPH OFF. THIS IS AT A LOW SPEED SO IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE AT A HIGHER SPEED. I BROUGHT THIS TO THE DEALER ATTENTION AND THEY REFUSED TO FIX IT. I THEN SENT A COMPLAINT TO CHRYSLER AND THEY HAVE REFUSED TO HELP AS WELL. *TR
3 MONTHS AFTER PURCHASING MY BRAND NEW JEEP I RECEIVED A CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD AT A SPEED OF 40 MPH CITY DRIVING. I THINK IT WAS A SMALL STONE BY THE SOUND OF IMPACT. ONE MONTH AFTER THAT MY JEEP BEING 4 MONTHS OLD, I RECEIVED ANOTHER CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD WHILE FREEWAY DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 60 MPH, AGAIN I THINK A SMALL STONE HIT THE WINDSHIELD BY THE SOUND OF IMPACT. A MONTH LATER AND 5 MONTHS OLD I RECEIVED ANOTHER CRACK IN THE WINDSHIELD WHILE CITY DRIVING AT A SPEED OF 45 MPH, AGAIN I THINK A SMALL STONE HIT THE WINDSHIELD BY THE SOUND OF IMPACT. MY JEEP MILEAGE ON THE FINAL CRACK AT 5 MONTHS WAS 8,400 MILES. I HAVE ONLY HEARD 3 STONES HIT MY WINDSHIELD, WITH EACH IMPACT MY WINDSHIELD WAS CRACKED. THESE CRACKS ARE SEVERE WITH MINIMAL IMPACT AND OBSTRUCT VISIBILITY. THERE IS AN OBVIOUS ISSUE WITH THE QUALITY OF THE GLASS/WINDSHIELD IN MY JEEP. I HAVE OWNED MANY VEHICLES WITHOUT RECEIVING ONE CRACKED WINDSHIELD UNDER THE EXACT DRIVING CONDITIONS OVER AN AVERAGE 5 YEAR VEHICLE OWNERSHIP. I CANNOT AFFORD OR BE EXPECTED TO REPLACE A WINDSHIELD EVERY MONTH AND THEREFORE THIS ISSUE IS A MAJOR SAFETY CONCERN. *TR
IN EARLY JANUARY, I CONTACTED MY LOCAL CHRYSLER DEALER TO INQUIRE ABOUT THE RECALL. AT THAT TIME, I WAS INFORMED THAT ONLY 2 REPLACEMENT PARTS PER MONTHS WERE BEING SHIPPED TO THE DEALERSHIP TO SUPPORT THE RECALL NOTICE. WHEN I CHECKED BACK ON JANUARY 27, I WAS TOLD THAT I AM 28TH ON THE LIST, MEANING I WILL BE WAITING ANOTHER 14 WEEKS FOR MY PART TO BE INSTALLED. AS I UNDERSTAND THE NOTICE, THE POTENTIAL FAILURE OF THE TRANSMISSION MAY INCREASE THE RISK OF A CRASH. HOW MANY CRASHES WILL IT TAKE BEFORE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT IS NEEDED TO GAIN VISIBILITY TO THIS OBVIOUS LACK OF ATTENTION BY CHRYSLER? ON A 2013 JEEP WRANGLER WHEN THE TAILGATE WAS OPENED ON A SLIGHT INCLINE THE TAILGATE BROKE THROUGH THE TAILGATE STOPPER THAT CONNECTS THE VEHICLE BODY TO THE TAILGATE AND BENT THE HINGES THAT HOLD THE TAILGATE. JEEP DEALER SAID THE CAUSE WAS OUR NEGLIGENCE. THIS IS A BRAND NEW JEEP. NEGLIGENCE--YOU HAVE TO BE KIDDING. WE SIMPLY OPENED THE TAILGATE AND THE HINGES ARE SO POORLY DESIGNED THEY DID HOT PREVENT THE TAILGATE FROM BENDING THE HINGES. DEALER SIMPLY REPLACED THE TAILGATE STOP AT OUR EXPENSE BUT DID NOT REPLACE THE HINGES. THREE MONTHS LATER WE OPENED THE TAILGATE IN OUR GARAGE AND THE TAILGATE STOPPER BROKE AGAIN. THIS TIME THE DEALER REPLACE THE TAILGATE STOP, THE PLASTIC HINGE COVERS AND THE HINGES AGAIN AT OUR EXPENSE. THIS IS A KNOWN DEFECT DOCUMENTED NUMEROUS TIMES ON JEEP FORUMS AND YET JEEP WON'T ACKNOWLEDGE A POOR DESIGN OF THE TAILGATE HINGES AND DO THE REPAIRS UNDER WARRANTY. *TR
BRAND NEW VEHICLE, AFTER 6,000 MILES CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON, TAKE IT IN, THEY HAVE IT FOR A MONTH, HAD TO REPLACE HEADS. GET IT BACK, NOW AT 50,000 MILES THE HEADS HAVE TO BE REPLACED AGAIN, BUT THIS TIME THEY SAY DRIVE IT. IT WILL CUT OUT OF POWER AND RUN VERY ROUGH, BUT THEY KEEP TELLING ME ITS OK. I TALKED TO A MECHANIC THAT WORKS THERE, AND HE SAID IT IS HAPPENING ALL OVER THE COUNTRY AND THAT THEY ARE ON BACK ORDER FOR THE HEADS AND CANT KEEP UP WITH ALL THE DEMAND. ALL 2013 JEEPS HAVE THIS PROBLEM, MOST JUST GO IN AND THEY FLASH THE CODE, AND SEND THEM ON THEIR WAY. I AM ON A JEEP FORUM, AND THEY ALL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM. 2 ISSUES WITH MY 13 WRANGLER UNLIMITED 1ST ... ENGINE TEMP GETS UP TO ABOUT 80 PERCENT OF THE GUAGE. I HAVE HAD IT IN 3 TIMES THEY REPLACED THE WATER PUMP TWICE AND STILL SAME ISSUES. THEY HAVE REPLACE THERMOSTAT COOLANT FLUSH ECT. THE DEALER CONNOT FIND OUT WHATS WRONG. I HAVE RESORTED TO ADDING A SECONDARY COOLANT FAN AND IT HELPS A BIT BUT ITS STILL A PROBLEM IVE HAD SINCE A YEAR FATER BUYING IT. 2ND ... THE TRANSMISSION(AUTOMATIC) WHEN GOING UP ANY KIND OF INCLINE IT DOES NOT WANT TO SHIFT UNTILL ABOUT 6K RPMS. I HAVE HAD IT IN FOR THIS ALSO AND DEALER CLAIMS NOTHING THEY CAN FIND.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 1,000. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 4,324. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.
A CONTINUOUS ISSUE WITH A DELAY OR COMPLETE NON OPERATION OF THE HORN WHEN HORN BUTTON IS "TAPPED". THE PROBLEM IS EASILY REPRODUCED, BUT TWO DEALERSHIPS STATE THE HORN IS WORKING AS DESIGNED. THE HORN ALWAYS OPERATES WHEN THE HORN BUTTON IS DEPRESSED FOR MORE THAN 1/2 SECOND. LESS THAN 1/2 SECOND AND INTERMITTENT OPERATION RESULTS. OCCURS IN ALL OPERATING CONDITIONS, INCLUDING ENGINE OFF. DIFFICULT TO WARN PEDESTRIANS IN A TIMELY MANNER AT TIMES WHEN INOPERABLE.
APPX. NINE MONTHS AGO I RECEIVED A RECALL FOR THE TRANSMISSION OIL COOLER TUBE(N28 / NHTSA 13V-234) I WENT TO DON AVEE DEALER IN PLACENTIA,CA. THEY PUT ME ON A WAITING LIST. I CHECKED WITH THEM THREE OR FOUR MONTHS AGO AND THEY TELL ME THAT JEEP WILL NOT SEND OUT ENOUGH PARTS TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. I`VE BEEN TOLD WHEN JEEP SENDS THE DEALER THE PART THEY WILL CONTACT WHO EVER IS NEXT ON THE WAITING LIST. *TR
WHILE TRAVELING DOWN A HIGHWAY AT 55, I ADJUSTED MY POSITION IN THE SEAT. THE VEHICLE WAS IN CRUISE CONTROL. I PLACED MY FEET ON THE CARPET IN FRONT OF THE SEAT AND PUSHED MYSELF UP AND BACK INTO THE SEAT TO ADJUST MY COMFORT AND POSITION. THE CARPET AND CARPET MAT WENT UP INTO THE BRAKE AND ACCELERATOR PEDALS. THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO ACCELERATE. WITH MY FEET I PULLED THE CARPET AND THE MAT BACK AND OUT OF THE PEDALS. STOPPED THE VEHICLE AND MOVED OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. I GOT OUT OF THE VEHICLE TO SEE THE CAUSE. THE DRIVER SIDE CARPET IS A SEPARATE PIECE OF CARPET WITH A MAT ATTACHED BY A HOOK THAT IS PART OF THE CARPET. THE CARPET DOES NOT SEEM TO HAVE ANY BACKING. IT LOOKS SPUN. THE DRIVER POSITION CARPET IS A SEPARATE PIECE THAT TERMINATES ABOUT 6 TO 10 INCHES UNDER THE DRIVER'S SEAT. THE CARPET HAS HOLES THAT ALLOW THE DRIVER SEAT FRAME TO ATTACH TO THE FLOOR OF THE VEHICLE WITHOUT CLAMPING THE CARPET DOWN. THERE IS NO CLAMPING FORCE HOLDING THE CARPET DOWN UNDER THE DRIVER SEAT. THE CARPET END UNDER THE SEAT IS PLACED UNDER THE CARPET COMING FROM THE BACK SEAT. I DID NOT NOTICE ANY ATTACHMENT BETWEEN THE FRONT AND BACK CARPET TO HOLD THE CARPET IN PLACE. MY ACTION OF PUSH WITH MY FEET TO ADJUST MY COMFORT AND POSITION RIPPED THE CARPET ON THE OUTSIDE EDGE BY THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR AND STRETCHED THE CARPET ON THE RIGHT SIDE, WHICH LET THE LEFT SIDE OF THE CARPET TO MOVE UP INTO THE BREAK AND ACCELERATOR PEDALS. I REPLACED CARPET MAT WITH THE HARD MOLDED RUBBER MATS. THESE MATS SEEM TO KEEP THE CARPET AND MATS FROM MOVING UP INTO THE PEDALS. THE MATS AND CARPET STILL SHIFT FORWARD AND I HAVE TO ADJUST THEM WHEN THE CARPET GETS TOO FAR FORWARD. *TR
SINCE THE DAY I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE NEW WHILE APPLYING THE PARKING BRAKE IT SEEMS AS THOUGH YOU HIT A VOID OR THAT IT SLIPS OVER LIKE THERE IS A STRIPPED GEAR. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP FOR SERVICE AND WAS TOLD "THEY ALL DO THAT, ITS NOT UNCOMMON AND NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT" BUT I HAVE RECENTLY NOTICED THAT IF IT STOPS ON THE VOID THE PARKING BRAKE DOES NOT HOLD THE VEHICLE IN PLACE AND IT ROLLS. I AM WANTING TO TAKE IT IN FOR SERVICE BUT NOT SURE IF THIS IS A GOOD IDEA RIGHT NOW UNTIL I HAVE A COMPLAINT FILED AND HAVE IT CHECK OUT BY ANOTHER SOURCE AS I AM WORRIED THAT I WILL GET THE SAME ANSWER. I KNOW CHRYSLER ISSUED RECALL FOR A SIMILAR PROBLEM BUT THIS VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THAT RECALL.
