WOKE UP APPROX. 0230 TO FIND MY 2013 JEEP WRANGLER SPORT ENGULFED IN FLAMES IN MY DRIVEWAY. THE LAST TIME THE JEEP WAS RUNNING WAS APPROX. 8PM THE NIGHT PRIOR.
SEAT BELT TENSIONER WILL NOT RELEASE TO ENABLE RESTRAINT.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. VEHICLE EXHIBITS STALLING AND ENGINE SHUT OFF AT IDLE OR LOW SPEEDS BELOW 60 MPH. VEHICLE BUCKS/SLIPS/JERKS AT SPEEDS OF 60 MPH+ AS WITNESSED BY DEALER SERVICE MECHANIC. VEHICLE INTERMITTENTLY WILL NOT GO INTO GEAR OR WILL REVERSE WHILE IN DRIVE AND MUST BE TURNED OFF AND RETURNED TO PARK, BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO RESTART. CHECK ENGINE LIGHT ON. NO DEALER CODES FOUND THEREFORE, UNABLE TO PROPERLY DIAGNOSE AND REPAIR. VEHICLE IS VERY UNSAFE AND UNSTABLE.
TRANSMISSION STALLED ON FREEWAY GOING 65 MPH. LUCKY TO BE ALIVE. COASTED OFF OF FREEWAY IN NICK OF TIME. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN, HOW MANY OTHERS HAVE HAD THIS DEATH DEFYING EXPERIENCE.
ON 6 SEPARATE OCCASIONS, THE ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL LIGHT CAME ON, WHICH DISABLES THE CRUISE CONTROL. THE JEEP HAS 42,000 MILES, AND IT STARTED HAPPENING AT ABOUT 39,000 MILES. IT HAPPENED AT VARIOUS SPEEDS BETWEEN 30 MPH AND 65 MPH, ON MODERATELY BUMPY ROADS, HOWEVER, NOT BUMPY ENOUGH TO BE DESCRIBED AS OUTSIDE OF THE NORMAL. TOOK IT INTO THE JEEP DEALERSHIP, AND THEY SAID IT WAS WORKING PROPERLY, BUT IT NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE 39,000 MILES OF DRIVING THE SAME ROADS UNDER THE SAME CONDITIONS.
AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. READ ABOUT THE SAFETY RECALL IN THE NEWS. CALLED THE DEALER. DEALER SAID MY VEHICLE IS NOT COVERED AND A FIX WOULD BE ABOUT $90.00. LIGHT IS ON WHEN STATIONARY OR MOVING ON STREET, HIGHWAY. RECALL INFORMATION INDICATES THAT WHEN THE WARNING LIGHT COMES ON IT IS INDICATIVE THAT THE AIRBAG MAY NOT INFLATE IN AN ACCIDENT.
I OWN A 2013 JEEP WRANGLER, I TAKE MY JEEP OFF-ROAD EVERY WEEKEND. LIVING IN LAS VEGAS, NV, I CAN KEEP THE TOP OFF 10 MONTHS OUT OF THE YEAR. LIVING IN THE DESERT, IT'S ALSO VERY DUSTY HERE. IN MAY OF 2016, I WAS ON AN OFF-ROADING TRIP, WHEN THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER, AND THEY TOLD ME IT WAS THE CLOCKSPRING. THEY QUOTED ME $700.00 TO FIX IT...I DIDN'T HAVE THE MONEY, SO I PAID THEM THE $150.00 DIAGNOSTIC FEE... TWO DAYS LATER, THE FIRST RECALL FOR CLOCKSPRING CAME OUT. I CALLED THE DEALER BACK, THEY LOOKED UP MY VIN #, AND SAID MY VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. SINCE THEN SEVERAL MORE RECALLS HAVE BEEN ISSUED, BUT MY VEHICLE IS STILL NOT LISTED. I DID RESEARCH ON CLOCKSPRINGS, AND FOUND OUT THE REASON THEY GO OUT IS DUE TO DUST, FREQUENT OFF-ROAD, AND REMOVING THE TOP. ALL OF WHICH DESCRIBES MY JEEP. IN ADDITION TO THE AIRBAG NOT DEPLOYING, THE CLOCKSPRING EFFECTS THE HORN, AS WELL AS OTHER CONTROLS ON THE STEERING WHEEL. I HAVE WRITTEN SEVERAL EMAILS TO JEEP, CHRYSLER, AND MOPAR. I HAVE DISCUSSED THIS ISSUE ON SEVERAL JEEP FORUMS SITES, ASKING FOR HELP. IF THE RECALL COVERS ONLY SOME 2013 MODELS, BUT MY MODEL MATCHES THE CIRCUMSTANCES SURROUNDING THE RECALL ISSUE, THEN I BELIEVE MINE SHOULD BE INCLUDED IN THE RECALL.
THIS IS THE 3RD TIME I HAVE TO REPLACE THE FRONT WINDSHIELD. PLEASE, THIS IS NOT OF STONES OR PEBBLES, OR CHIPS. EACH TIME THE WINDSHIELD CRACKED I EITHER HAD THE HEATER OR AIR CONDITIONER ON.
VEHICLE BEGAN TO VIOLENTLY SHAKE WHILE DRIVING - MADE IT ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO CONTROL. UPON RESEARCH ON THE INTERNET THIS IS CALLED "DEATH WOBBLE" BY LARGE NUMBER THAT THIS HAS HAPPENED TO. MULTIPLE VIDEOS EXIST ON THE INTERNET FOR THIS. THE REPAIR WAS TO REPLACE STABILIZER BUT CHRYSLER KNOWS ABOUT THIS AND RECOMMENDS AN ADDITIONAL PART AS WELL STAR CASE #S1602000001. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE.
VEHICLE UPON LEAVING A STORE, (JUST BEGAN TO RAIN HARD), THE LIGHTS, WIPERS, CRUISE CONTROL, HORN, AND ALL FUNCTIONS ON THE STEERING WHEEL AND LEFT AND RIGHT STALK STOPPED WORKING. I ASSUME THE AIRBAG IS ALSO NOT FUNCTIONAL. NO CODES WERE REGISTERED IN THE VEHICLE FOR MALFUNCTION EITHER. IT HAS BEEN A WEEK AND IT IS STILL NOT FUNCTIONING. POSSIBLY THE CLOCK SPRING WHICH WAS RECALLED FOR 2007-2012, BUT 2013+ VEHICLES WERE EXCLUDED EVEN THOUGH IT IS THE SAME PART USED IN THE LATER MODEL VEHICLES. HUGE SAFETY HAZARD!
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE TECHNICIAN ENTERED A CODE, INDICATING THAT THE CLOCK SPRING THAT WAS ATTACHED TO THE AIR BAGS FAILED AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 44,000. UPDATED 06/14/16*LJ UPDATED 06/28/16.8JB
THE PARKING BRAKE FAILS TO HOLD THE VEHICLE UNLESS PULLED TO IT'S VERY MAXIMUM POINT AND EVEN THEN THE HOLD IS NOT STRONG. BRAKE HAS BEEN ADJUSTED SEVERAL TIMES, BUT THE ISSUE STILL PERSISTS.
VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. IT HAS STALLED 5 TIMES WHILE DRIVING WITH NO WARNING AT DIFFERENT SPEEDS AND AFTER DIFFERENT DRIVING TIMES. THIS TIME I HAD ONLY DRIVEN 5 MINS AND ABOUT 300 YRDS WHEN IT STALLED. IT HAS NOT STARTED 2 TIMES PRIOR WHEN LEAVING WORK. AFTER 10MINS THE VEHICLE STARTED AND I DROVE IT ANOTHER 515 MILES TO DEALERSHIP. WAITING TO SEE WHAT THEY DO AFTER THE 5TH TIME AT THE DEALERSHIP. THIS THING IS GOING TO KILL ME ONE DAY. IT HAS ALREADY STALLED ON THE INTERSTATE AT 60MPH. IT IS ONLY A MATTER OF TIME.
WHEN CHANGING THE OIL . WHEN YOU REMOVE THE OIL FILTER THERE IS A PLASTIC PART ON THE SHAFT IN THE OIL FILTER HOUSING. THIS IS A VALVE THAT CONTROLS THE OIL IF THE FILTER GETS GUMMED UP THE PRESSER CAUSES THIS VALVE TO OPEN SO THAT THE OIL WILL STILL FLOW IF THE FILTER IS CLOGGED. THIS PLASTIC VALVE BREAKS DURING NORMAL OIL CHANGES. TO FIX THIS 10 CENT PART YOU HAVE TO BUY A WHOLE NEW OIL COOLER UNIT AT THE COST OF $237.00 ALSO TO HAVE THE DEALERSHIP FIX IT YOUR LOOKING AT $800 PLUS FOR A 10 CENT PART. JEEP CHANGED THE OIL COOLING FILTER UNIT IN THE 2014 MODELS. THIS ALSO HAPPENS NOT ONLY IN THE JEEP JK V6 BUT ALSO IN DODGE CHARGERS AND ANY V6 MODELS THAT USE THIS SAME FILTER OIL COOLER UNIT. CONTACTED CHRYSLER CONCERNING MY 2013 JEEP WRANGLER CLOCK SPRING ASSEMBLY "AIR BAG HARNESS" THAT WAS GIVING RED LIGHT ON DASH. THEY HAVE STATED THAT MY VIN NUMBER WAS NOT PART OF RECALL. MY JEEPS MFR DATE FALLS WITHIN THE SPECIFICS OF THE RECALL ON THIS PART. IT HAS BEEN DIAGNOSED BY THE CHRYSLER DEALERSHIP THAT IN FACT THAT WAS THE ISSUE AND THEY WILL NOT FIX THIS PROBLEM. WHEN VEHICLE WA PURCHASED AND TAKEN BACK TO CHRYSLER WITHIN 30 DAYS DEALERSHIP WANTED TO CHARGE 700 DOLLARS TO REPAIR. SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME HOLD CHRYSLER ACCOUNTABLE TO FIX THIS SAFETY PROBLEM. *TR
WITH ONLY 58,306 MILES ON MY 2013 JEEP WRANGLER, THE CLOCK SPRING HAS FAILED AND AIR BAG SYSTEM WILL NOT DEPLOY. IN ADDITION, THIS POSES ABANDONMENT CONCERNS AS MANY USERS WITH SIMILAR PROBLEMS FIND THEIR VEHICLE WILL NOT START. I CONTACTED MY DEALERSHIP TODAY (NORTHWEST JEEP CHRYSLER DODGE) AND WAS DISMAYED AT AN ALMOST $700 REPAIR BILL TO REGAIN AIRBAG PROTECTION, EVEN THOUGH FCA HAS ISSUED A RECALL FOR THIS SAME PART NUMBER, BUT ONLY IN 2007 RHD VEHICLES. THIS IS THE SAME PART!
GOT VEHICLE BACK FROM DEALERSHIP AFTER 5 DIFFERENT STALLINGS AND 3 TIMES IT DID NOT START THIS IS 3RD TIME AT DEALERSHIP. NO CODE CAME UP, TECH DROVE 20 MINS AND THEY HAD NO PROBLEM, SAID COME PICK UP YOUR VEHICLE. GOT VEHICLE BACK ON THURSDAY, DROVE FRIDAY 240 MILES WITH ONE STOP IN THE MIDDLE WITH NO ISSUES. DROVE BACK HOME 240 MILES 2 DAYS LATER, 3 HOURS AND 45 MINS INTO 4 HOUR DRIVE, IT STALLED OUT WITH NO WARNING. ON SINGLE LANE SECLUDED ROAD OUTSIDE MIAMI. KROME AVE- NO PASSING 2 LANE ROAD. CAR STALLED OUT WITH NO WARNING. WAS ABLE TO DRIFT TO SIDE OF ROAD, WAITED 5 MINS AND IT STARTED BACK UP. AFTER IT HAD STALLED OUT AND WAS ON SIDE OF THE ROAD, IT SHOWED THE LIGHTNING BOLT IN THE VENTURI SYMBOL. I ESCAPED DEATH AND INJURY AGAIN. I HAVE DECIDED TO GET AN INSURANCE DEATH POLICY ON ME. I THINK MY LUCK IS GOING TO BE RUNNING OUT AFTER THIS BEING THE 6TH TIME STALLING AND 3RD TIME NOT STARTING. WHAT DO I DO NOW?????? I HAVE PUT A LOT OF MONEY IN THIS JEEP, WITH BUMPERS A LIFT KIT.... I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT TO DO. CHRYSLER IS NOT HELPING. THEY HAVE HAD OTHER CHRYSLER VEHICLES INCLUDING JEEP CHEROKEES THAT WERE RECALLED WITH THIS SAME PROBLEM BUT YET THEY CANT FIX MY VEHICLE. I GUESS THERE WERE MORE RICH PEOPLE DRIVING THE OTHER VEHICLES.
TIPM FAILURE. BLOWER MOTOR FOR HEAT/AC STOPPED WORKING. THIS PART WAS REPLACED UNDER WARRANTY AT APPROX 25K MILES AND NOW THE PROBLEM IS BACK. THIS IS A WIDESPREAD JEEP/CHRYSLER ISSUE WHICH THEY HAVE COME TO SETTLEMENTS ON FOR OTHER MODELS. THIS ISSUE NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED FOR THE WRANGLER MODEL LINE.
TIPM IS DEFECTIVE CAUSING ELECTRICAL FAULTS IN THE HEADLIGHTS,TRANSFER CASE, BRAKES AND WINDSHIELD WIPERS
WINDSHIELD WIPERS DO NOT WORK. FOG LIGHTS DO NOT WORK. ENGINE LIGHT AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS COME ON AND OFF AT RANDOM. DEALER ADVISED TIPM IS BAD AND MUST BE REPLACED. BACK LOG ON REPLACEMENT PART AND SHIP DATE IS UNKNOWN.
FAILED TIPM. WAITING WEEKS ON TIPM TO BE AVAILABLE. ON NATIONAL BACK ORDER DUE TO FAILURE OF PART. CHRYSLER CONTINUES TO HAVE TIPM ISSUES IN ADDITIONAL TO THE ALREADY RECALLED YEARS/MODELS.
JEEP STALLS ON OCCASION. VERY ANNOYING. USUALLY STARTS RIGHT UP AND NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.
UPON STARTING THIS VEHICLE IN MY DRIVEWAY IN PREPARATION TO GO TO WORK, THE WIPERS CAME ON AND WILL NOT TURN OFF, OR SLOW DOWN.THIS IS A RIGHT HAND DRIVE JEEP- I AM A MAIL CARRIER AND I HAVE TO HAVE THIS TO WORK SIX DAYS A WEEK. A WEEK LATER THE FRONT POWER WINDOWS WOULD NOT WORK FOR A PERIOD OF TIME. THE REAR WINDOWS WOULD WORK. LATER IN THE DAY THEY SUDDENLY STARTED WORKING AGAIN.I NOW HAVE TO RAISE THE HOOD AND PULL THE FUSE TO STOP THE WIPERS. THE JEEP DEALERSHIP TELLS ME I HAVE A FAULTY TIPM AND WILL HAVE TO BUY A NEW ONE - $1019. IT HAS BEEN TWO WEEKS AND THEY STILL DO NOT HAVE THIS PART TO REPAIR THE PROBLEM. I WOULD GUESS THE DELAY IS DUE TO THE HIGH DEMAND FOR REPLACEMENT TIPMS BECAUSE THEY CONTINUE TO USE THE DEFECTIVE ONES IN MANUFACTURE. THIS JEEP IS ONLY THREE YEARS OLD, AND I SEE THAT EARLIER YEARS HAVE HAD RECALLS FOR FAULTY TIPMS AND EVEN A LAWSUIT INVOLVING OLDER MODELS THAN MINE.. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A PROBLEM JEEP KNOWS ABOUT AND HAS EXPERIENCED FOR MANY YEARS WITHOUT CORRECTING IT.THEY OBVIOUSLY HAVE CONTINUED TO KNOWINGLY INSTALL FAULTY TIPMS IN THEIR VEHICLES. THEY SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE AND NOT MAKE OWNERS PAY FOR SOMETHING THAT THEY KNOW IS FAULTY WHEN THEY MANUFACTURED IT.
AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT REMAINS ON AND WILL SOMETIMES GO OFF ON A LEFT HAND TURN. I UNDERSTAND THIS IS A SAFETY ISSUE. ON THE 20013 JEEP WRANGLER (LHD) DASHBOARD, THE AIRBAG WARNING LIGHT FLASHES ON EVERY OTHER MINUTE WITH A CHIME, AN INDICATION THAT THERE IS SOMETHING MALFUNCTIONING OR INTERFERING WITH THE VEHICLE'S AIRBAGS.THIS HAS BEEN A RECURRING ISSUE AND CONCERN FOR MANY 2013 JEEP WRANGLER (LHD) OWNERS, INCLUDING MYSELF, AND HAS BEEN SHOWN TIME AND TIME AGAIN TO BE CAUSED BY A FAULTY CLOCKSPRING WITHIN THE VEHICLE'S STEERING WHEEL. THIS FAULTY CLOCKSPRING IS THE CULPRIT FOR POTENTIAL AIRBAG FAILURE IN THE 2013 JEEP WRANGLER (LHD) DURING AN ACCIDENT OR PREMATURE DEPLOYMENT WHEN SIMPLY DRIVING AROUND. DAIMLER CHRYSLER HAS REFUSED TO ADDRESS THE SAFETY CONCERN OF THEIR FAULTY CLOCKSPRING THAT CAN CAUSE FAILURE OF THE VEHICLE'S AIRBAGS FROM PROPERLY DEPLOYING. I BELONG TO A JEEP CLUB AND SEVERAL MEMBERS HAVE THE SAME ISSUE. THE WARNING LIGHT STAYS ON NOW, ALL THE TIME.
ABOUT A MONTH AGO I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF A 4 HOUR DRIVE I DO ON A WEEKLY BASIS AND 2 HOURS INTO THE DRIVE MY VEHICLE STALLED AS I WAS SLOWING FOR A YELLOW LIGHT. THERE WAS NO WARNING AT ALL AND IT TOOK ME A SECOND TO REALIZE IT HAD STALLED. I WAS ABLE TO ROLL OUT OF THE TRAFFIC LANE ONTO A SIDE ROAD. THE POLICE SHOWED UP AND HELPED ME PUSH IT OFF TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AT THAT POINT I TRIED TO START IT, APPROXIMATELY 10MINS AFTER STALLING AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP. I WENT STRAIGHT TO AUTOZONE AND HAD A NEW BATTERY INSTALLED, $250.00 AND GOT GOING ON MY WAY HOME - FAT, DUMB AND HAPPY - UNTIL 2 DAYS LATER WHEN IT DID IT AGAIN. THE SECOND TIME IT STALLED I WAS ON A BUSY 12 LANE INTERSTATE 95 IN DOWNTOWN MIAMI. AGAIN I DID NOT KNOW IT HAD STALLED, I WAS INCREASING SPEED FROM ABOUT 50MPH TO 60MPH AND PUSHED THE GAS PEDAL AND NOTHING HAPPENED. I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF 6 LANES AND IMMEDIATELY PUT MY HAZARDS ON AND ROLLED THROUGH TRAFFIC ONTO THE SIDE OF THE INTERSTATE. I WAITED 5 MINS AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP AND I WENT STRAIGHT TO THE CHRYSLER DEALER IN KENDALL, FL. THEY GAVE ME A RENTAL VEHICLE - THANK GOD. ABOUT 3 WEEKS LATER THEY CHANGED OUT THE PCM AND GAVE IT BACK TO ME - FIXED (SUPPOSEDLY). 2 WEEKS LATER IT STALLED IN TRAFFIC ON A 4 LANE HWY; WAITED 5 MINS AND IT STARTED FINE, WAS LATER AT THE STORE GOT IN THE VEHICLE AND IT WOULD NOT START JUST KEPT TRYING TO CRANK ITSELF, WAITED 5 MINS LATER AND IT STARTED. THAT WEEKEND TOOK IT TO CHRYSLER IN TAMPA (JERRY ULM) THEY SAID IT IS NOT IN MY WARRANTY AND I PAID $400.00 FOR WHAT I WAS TOLD WAS A CHRYSLER "WORK AROUND". 2 DAYS LATER IT WOULD NOT START AND IT TRIED TO CRANK ITSELF. I TURNED THE KEY OFF AND WAITED 5 MINS AND IT STARTED RIGHT UP AND I WENT DIRECTLY TO KENDAL CHRYSLER, WHERE IT IS SITTING TODAY AS I WRITE THIS.
MY JEEP ENGINE STALLED COMPLETELY. I WAS TAKING OFF FROM A STOP LIGHT ON A 4 LANE HIGHWAY AND IT STALLED WITH NO WARNING. I WAS ABLE TO ROLL TO A SIDE ROAD. I WAITED 5 MINS AND I WAS ABLET TO START IT BACK UP, REPLACED WHAT I THOUGHT WAS THE BATTERY. 3 DAYS LATER WAS ON A BUSY INTERSTATE IN DOWNTOWN MIAMI AND IT COMPLETELY STALLED AGAIN. IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY 6 LANE HIGHWAY, I WAS VERY LUCKY TO GET THROUGH THE TRAFFIC AND ROLL INTO THE MEDIAN. I WAITED 5 MINUTES AND WAS ABLE TO START IT AGAIN. DROVE DIRECTLY TO DEALERSHIP THAT SAID IT WILL TAKE WEEKS TO FIX. ALSO HAVE ISSUE WITH LURCHING TRANSMISSION AT BETWEEN 1500 TO 1600 RPM. IT CLUNKS INTO THE NEXT GEAR. ALSO, GETTING ELECTRICAL ISSUES WITH CIGARRETE LIGHTER. WHEN USING A CHARGER IN CIGARRETE LIGHTER THE RADIO DOES NOT WORK, IT BECOMES JUST STATIC.
NOISY LOUD DEFROST FAN MOTOR NOT MAINTAINING SPEED, MAY COME AND GO PRODUCING A NO DEFROST CONDITION AND HAMPERING ABILITY TO SEE. MAY COME AND GO, A HIGH PITCH SQEEK OR CLICKING CAN BE HEARD FROM THE FAN BEARINGS.

THE LAST TIME THIS HAPPENED I WAS ON A RAMP GOING FROM ONE INTERSTATE TO ANOTHER WITH A SEMI RIDING MY REAR BUMPER AND IF THE POWER HAD NOT COME BACK ON QUICKLY I WOULD PROPABLY NOT BE HERE TODAY TO REPORT THIS.

AXLE HOUSING CRACKED OPEN AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO LOSE CONTROL AS THE STEERING SYSTEM NO LONGER CAN WORK FROM THIS BREAK. UPON RESEARCH OF THE JEEP WRANGLER JK MODEL AXLE HOUSING FAILURES, THERE APPEARS TO BE MANY DOCUMENTED CASES OF THE FAILURE. MAJOR AUTOMOTIVE PUBLICATIONS HAVE WRITTEN ABOUT THE KNOWN WEAKNESS AND FAILURES OF THIS AXLE HOUSING AND MANY AFTERMARKET COMPANIES SELL PRODUCTS TO REINFORCE THE AXLE HOUSING. A WEEK AGO I NOTICED WHEN I STARTED THE JEEP IN THE MORNING THE AIR BAG AND THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS ON THE DASH CAME ON. THE CRUISE CONTROL QUIT WORKING ALONG WITH THE RADIO CONTROLS ON THE STEERING WHEEL. THE JEEP IS PARKED ON THE STREET. I DISCONNECTED THE BATTERY FOR ABOUT 30 MIN. I RECONNECTED THE BATTERY AND STARTED IT UP. THE AIR BAGS AND TRACTION CONTROL LIGHTS WERE STILL ON IN THE DASH. THE STEERING CONTROLS DO NOT WORK. THE JEEP WAS PARKED IN FRONT OF MY HOUSE ON THE STREET.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT 70MPH. IT FELT LIKE THE CRUISE CONTROL KICKED IN AND THE JEEP BEGAN TO ACCELERATE. I TAPPED THE BREAK HOWEVER THE SPEED WAS INCREASING. I PRESSED DOWN HARDER ON THE GAS AND THE CAR SLOWED SOME BUT AS SOON AS I LET OFF THE BRAKE THE CAR WOULD SPEED UP. I PRESSED DOWN ON THE BREAK AND WAS ABLE TO GET OVER TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY. A RED WARNING LIGHT CAME ON. I HAD TO PRESS THE BREAK TO THE FLOOR AND PULL THE PARKING BREAK. THE REAR TIRES WERE STILL SPINNING SO I SHUT THE JEEP OFF AND CALLED A TOW TRUCK. THE JEEP WAS TOWED TO THE NEAREST DEALERSHIP. THE JEEP IS STILL AT THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY ARE UNABLE TO FIND ANYTHING WRONG WITH IT. I'M SUPPOSE TO PICK IT UP HOWEVER I'M AFRAID TO BEGIN DRIVING THE JEEP AGAIN.

AS I BEGIN TO PULL INTO HEAVY TRAFFIC, I HEAR AND SEE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WARNING ALONG WITH THE SKID CONTROL LIGHT ILLUMINATING. THE CAR THEN STALLS LEAVING ME SITTING IN 70 MPH TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE STARTS BACK UP BUT HAS A NOTICEABLE LOSS OF POWER. THIS LOSS OF POWER CONTINUED UNTIL I GOT HOME. WHEN I FINALLY GET HOME I USE A CODE READER WHICH INDICATED IT WAS A CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. CODE P0344. THIS COULD HAVE BEEN A MUCH WORSE INCIDENT AS THERE WERE NO MECHANICAL ISSUES LEADING UP TO THIS.

I DISCOVERED THAT THE UPPER CONTROL ARMS ON BOTH THE DRIVER REAR AND PASSENGER REAR SIDES WERE COMPLETELY BROKEN. VEHICLE IS STILL UNDER 3 YEAR 36/000 FACTORY WARRANTY AND I ALSO PURCHASED AN EXTENDED WARRANTY. THE DEALER PROVIDED A "RECALL REPORT" WHICH CAME BACK CLEAN. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN PARKED SINCE SEP 3. JEEP HAS BEEN STALLING FOR 7 MONTHS. BEEN IN SHOP 9 TIMES. JEEP STALLS GOING AT DIFFERENT SPENDS, WHILE STOPPED, MOVING AT IDLE IN FORWARD OR REVERSE. JEEP WILL NOT START UNLESS TERMINAL ON BATTERY REMOVED OR SITS FOR AWHILE. TRANSMISSION FAILS TO ENGAGE OCCASIONALLY IN REVERSE OR DRIVE AFTER STALLING. LAST PROGRAM DOWNLOAD APPEARS TO BE A FAULT WITH THE TIPM (TOTALLY INTERGRATED POWER MODULE). PTM AND TPM CHANGED OUT DUE TO DIFFERENT READINGS IN DOWNLOADS. MECHANIC BELIEVES NOW, THAT THE TIPM IS FAULTY. JEEP HAS STALLED UP TO 5 & 6 TIMES ON SOME DAYS.

MY ABS BRAKES COME ON AT LOW SPEEDS USUALLY WHEN I'M JUST STARTING OUT DRIVING. THE ONLY WAY FOR ME TO CONTINUE DRIVING IS TO DISABLE THE SKID CONTROL. THE ABS LIGHTS WILL STAY ON AND THE ANTE SKID CONTROL LIGHT WILL STAY ON FOR A BRIEF AMOUNT OF TIME SOMETIMES IT WILL GO OFF AND SOMETIMES IT WILL JUST STAY ON. THE ONLY TIME THAT IT SEEMS TO NOT HAPPEN IS WHEN THE CAR IS ON A FLAT SURFACE AND I JUST STARTED OUT AND ALL TIRES ARE STRAIGHT. I TESTED A THEORY THAT I COULD PUT IT IN 4 WHEEL DRIVE AND START DRIVING AND THE ANTI-LOCK BRAKES WOULDN'T COME ON AND THAT WORK FOR THE LONGEST TIME. THE MINUTE I DESCRIBED IT TO A FRIEND OF MINE AND TESTED IT OUT IT FAILED ANTI-LOCK BRAKES CAME ON WHEN I WAS IN 4 WHEEL DRIVE AT LOW SPEED.
THUS FAR IN TWO YEARS OF SERVICE MY VEHICLE HAS HAD FOUR WINDSHIELDS REPLACED DUE TO CRACKS. CRACKS WERE FROM STONES THROWN FROM OTHER VEHICLES WHILE JEEP WAS BEING DRIVEN ON HIGHWAY. I HAVE DONE SOME RESEARCH AND THERE ARE MANY, MANY OTHER JEEP OWNERS HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. AN INSTALLER FROM SAFELIGHT AUTO GLASS TOLD ME THE WINDSHIELDS ARE BEING MADE MUCH LIGHTER TO HELP REDUCE THE WEIGHT OF THE VEHICLE. THERE ARE SO MANY WINDSHIELDS BREAKING THE LAST I HEARD THERE WERE 4000 OEM ON BACK ORDER. THE ONLY CHOICE IS TO GET A NON OEM INSTALLED TO GET THE VEHICLE BACK ON THE ROAD. NEVER IN OVER 50 YEARS OF DRIVING HAVE I HAD FOUR WINDSHIELDS BROKEN FROM STONES. PROBLEM IS COSTING INSURANCE COMPANIES AND INDIVIDUAL'S A LOT OF MONEY.
