*Steering issues. The steering has locked up multiple times. Once in a parking lot. Every other time has been on the highway at speeds over 65mph. Yes, it is available for inspection. *If there had been a sharp curve or a reason to quickly maneuver, I would not have been able to. *No, it is out of warranty dealer let me know it's my problem. *No has not been inspected by police or others. *No warning lamps or any other symptoms prior to it happening. I've pulled over and inspected it each time. I do not find anything loose or binding that would cause this. Also, by the time I pull over it no longer does this.
Stop/Start feature began intermittently working only in March of 2020. Stopped working completely in May. On July 31, 2020 it began functioning. Never worked again after that day. In March 2021 I had the vehicle serviced and advised the dealership it was not functioning. No tests were run and was advised I needed to drive the vehicle more to keep the auxiliary battery charged. On September 12, 2021, vehicle would not start after driving it most of the day. Had to jump start to get running. Would not start the next morning. On 9/13/21, jump started and driven to dealership. R/O Number 6085781/1. Installed BBAUX101AB battery due to Start/Stop battery failed. Stop/Start was not functioning upon leaving dealership. Did not function until 9/19/21 at 8:50am at an intersection. Disengaged the function by pressing the button on the dash. Vehicle shut down, displayed push brake to start. Vehicle put in park. Would not start. Had to use pull cord under gear shift to get in neutral and push out of roadway. Jump started to drive. Vehicle displayed "Stop Safely, vehicle will shut off soon." while driving down the street. Upon arrival, put in reverse to enter driveway, vehicle stopped reversing, felt like it was in neutral, vehicle engine began racing, instrument panel began flashing warnings, had to forcefully hold the brake, would not shift in to park or drive. All gear lights lit up on gearshift. Was afraid the vehicle was going to accelerate and crash. Passengers immediately abandoned the vehicle. Pushed to the start button and vehicle finally shut down. Warning flashing were: Service Electronic Stability Control, Service Power Steering, Service Airbag System, Service 4WD, Service Antilock Brake System, Passenger Airbag On (with no passenger). Instrument needles began moving up and down and would not stop. Opened door and needles ticked, blank screen and a ding. Did this for over an hour before all stopped. Vehicle completely dead. Will not jumpstart.
Initial problem was the auto restart stopped working when the vehicle came to a complete stop. Then noted a couple of months later the dash board electronics started displaying random screens and warning lights. Finally the car refused to start and shift out of park and the display unit showed milage at 999999 and no indication as to the problem with vehicle. All alarm lights were also on in dash display. Towed to dealer and they said they had to replace 2 batteries.
I was driving down a major highway at approx 60 mph. The entire vehicle started violently shaking; uncontrollably. It was very difficult to control steering. This continued for approx. 2 minutes. No warning lights came on
My Jeep Stalled on me in the middle of the street at Night. All of the lights dimmed out including my Emergency lights, I couldn’t put into Neutral or turn it on I had to get it towed Home. Both batteries replaced it turns on but stalls. Could be the alternator?
Service Air Bag warning light comes on intermittently. Dealer wants me to drive car for 3 weeks before fixing or even looking at vehicle. From my research this has happened with many Jeeps. The vehicle has only 13,000 miles on it. I do not know whether my air bags will work in an accident or not.
There is a common complaint among owners of 2018 and newer Jeep Wranglers. The visors can become detached from their main support allowing them to impede the visibility of the driver and any passengers in the vehicle. Typically the visors break when being raised or lower, however due to the minimal effort it takes to cause the defect to be created the visor can swing wildly if jarred loose during an accident or driving in an emergency which could strike a driver or passenger in the face or chest. I would like an investigation started into resolving this issues as owners are having to pay for new visors only to have them repeatedly break due to the design.
my vehicle has extremely bad death wobble, only 55 thousand miles on it. its a extreme safty hazard ! i just had my tires rotated and balanced and the problem is not any better ! once i hit 65 mph its shakes uncontrollably and i have to slow down to 40mph to get it to stop! that is extremely dangersous on a highway to be driving like this ! it has been like this since i got my car at 33,000 miles in august 2021
Experienced the death wobble. At speeds over 70 mph hitting a few bumps in the road the front end would shake violently would have to get the speed under 50mph in order to get it to stop. Has happened over a dozen times
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 21V028000 (Power Train) and the vehicle was taken to the local dealer and a software update and the recall repair were performed. Two weeks after the repairs were performed, while driving 50 mph, the contact depressed the clutch to shift gears and depressed the accelerator pedal however, the vehicle failed to accelerate. The contact was able to shift gears however, the vehicle would not accelerate. The contact was able to slowly move the vehicle over to a highway off ramp and moved the vehicle to a parking lot. The contact had the vehicle towed back to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the clutch assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 35,088.
Within a week with no wear or tear -14000 miles; ALL hinges on all doors as well as the door panels are corroding from the inside out. Huge safety issue- All Wrangler forums are reporting this as well. A paint and bondo job are not the answer! The safety prospect would be New doors and hinges - which are a must. My doors have never been removed! AND my jeep is garaged.
The seat adjustment latch in the driver side. The quick release latch and the cabling associated with it locked up causing the seat to become unlatched and recline fully while vehicle was in motion. Seat also slid forward and back along the roll track unable to lock into position.
Corrosion on all aluminum panel and hinges could lead to failure of hinge.
WHILE TRAVELING THIS WEEKEND, MY 2018 JEEP WENT INTO "DEATH WOBBLE" WHICH CAUSED LOSS OF CONTROL OF VEHICLE ON A HIGHWAY CAUSING ME TO EXIT THE ROAD. I WAS GOING ABOUT 70 MPH AT THE TIME AND THERE WERE SOME IMPERFECTIONS ON THE ROAD. I SEARCH ONLINE WHEN HOME AND SAW THAT THIS HAS BEEN AN ISSUE IN THE PAST. HOWEVER, WHEN LOOKING AT THE VIN ON NHTSA RECALL CHECK IT SHOWS NO RECALLS. WHILE DRIVING I WAS ABLE TO REMAIN COMMON AND ANALYZE THE SITUATION. HOWEVER THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE IF ONE OF KIDS EXPERIENCED THE SAME SITUATION. I DON'T FEEL SAFE TO DRIVE THIS VEHICLE ON THE HIGHWAY. PLEASE ADVISE
In July 2021 our 19 year old daughter was driving our 2018 Rubicon on a trip 2 hours or so from home when all of the dash warning lights came on speedometer was lost . Panicked she asked us what to do? We told her to take it to the closest Jeep dealership (Ladd-Hanford DCJR) to see if the vehicle was safe to drive. She was told it just needed an oil change and it was safe to drive. About 10 days later my wife was driving the vehicle and the same thing happened. The vehicle was taken to our local dealer where they tried to diagnose, unable to duplicate the problem it was returned to us. We returned about 10 days later same lights coming on, this time power steering was lost. Dealership worked with Chrysler engineering and determined that the ABS module needed replaced. Work completed and Jeep was picked up. About 10 days later dash warning lights on, speedometer display out, power steering lost, back to dealership. Unable to look at at that time appointment made and returned. It is now September 30th we have cases opened with Chrysler and Mopar Warrantee. Vehicle is still at the dealership, diagnosis is now a $2000.00 chaffed wiring harness just outside the fuse box not covered by anybody. No guarantee that this will fix it. Neither will put anything in writing. I have tried to be patient, we need our vehicle. I do not feel that my family or others are safe when it pertains to this vehicle. I don't want it to be involved in an accident that could cause serious injury or death.
Instrument cluster failed at 5 AM (completely dark) when wife on interstate on way to airport: no speedometer, no odometer, no gas gauge, no “idiot” lights, and so on – all of which have safety concerns associated with them. Took 2 weeks to get appt. w/ dealer. When they found there was no odometer on the cluster, they in essence impounded the vehicle – something about legally they could not let her drive it until the replacement cluster came in. This indicates a serious safety and/or legal liability issue. Couldn’t estimate how long that would be. Vehicle had only 29,481 miles on it! <Many customer service issues followed but for brevity will not elaborate here.> It took two trips to dealer and $1241.72 to complete the repairs. (Somehow they were able to get the odometer setting on the replacement cluster matched to actual mileage by an internal mechanism I didn't understand.) Please note that the Jeep forums indicate this problem was not an isolated incident! Filed claim for reimbursement of repairs and was flatly denied. Service record, complaint to Jeep, and (unsatisfactory) response attached. I recommend a recall for this defect. Please let me know the results of your investigation. Thanks!
My 2018 wrangler accelerates when not on the gas pedal, and both the engine light and electronic throttle light comes on. My Jeep has been to the dealer 4 times for this issue and it still goes unfixed. It has been to an independent service center once, and they diagnosed the PCM (powertrain control module) as failing. This issue is very dangerous for myself and anyone else on the road as my jeep will accelerate at random.
I was in my car at a gas station and the car had shut down with ABS light, check engine light. The car would not start up with push to start. The shifter also was locked into place when the car eventually ended up starting. 5 mins later the car finally started up and all the of the warning lights/messages went away. I received an oil change + inspection from a dealership and nothing was found. This same problem happened again in a parking lot, (ABS, check engine, car not turning on) and I took my car to the dealership for service. They performed an inspection and I was told the ABS module needed to be replaced. About a week later I picked up my car from the dealership after they told me they fixed the issue and my car was good to go. THE SAME DAY, I had the same problem except this time it was significantly worse and extremely dangerous for myself and others. This time, WHILE driving my "serviced" vehicle, the ABS light, check engine light came on, dashboard stopped working, and the steering wheel also had locked while DRIVING and I was unable to turn. I was extremely terrified and I immediately pulled the car over. After multiple attempts to start the car (same issue as before: car would not start, ABS/check engine light) I promptly took the vehicle to the dealership again. The dealership is charging me again for another inspection, hours after their service? It seems that they are using this as an opportunity to make money, rather than actually fix the issue with the vehicle. This should not be about money, this is EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. The service the dealership has provided not only endangered my life, but the lives of others around me. I am extremely fortunate that this did not happen on the freeway. The dealer did not fix the problem, and in fact made the car dangerous with some of these new issues, the steering wheel locking up and the disabled dashboard. The part they replaced did not fix my car and put me, as well as others in a DANGEROUS situation.
Coming back from a mini vacation we stopped at a gas station to refuel. Could smell something burning but was not sure from where it was coming from. 45 minutes later we hard a loud pop and rpm’s went up. Clutch went completely out. Was barely able to pull it off the highway and into a gas station. Had to cut cars off due to not being able to put the jeep in gear to get rolling again. I’m three hours away from my home. Had just took the jeep to the dealer for service and was told EVERYTHING LOOKED GOOD. No issues with the clutch or anything along the lines of that. EXTREMELY upset. This need to be resolved ASAP. Broke down at 7:10pm wasn’t able to get a tow truck to me until 10:30pm
Random intervals the jeep dash complety shuts down and loses all power steering and ABS and stability control functions. Ran codes and says its losing connection the the tcm. Abs module fails to relieve signal from can bus c
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving approximately 50 mph, the clutch ceased. The vehicle was towed to the local dealer and was diagnosed that the pressure plate overheated and caused damage to the flywheel. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 21V028000 (Power Train) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The failure mileage was approximately 47,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
Jeep is aware of faulty cluster packs that operate the dash and guages. They have stated it was a software issue (but the flash did not fix), but as soon as it is out of warranty they now say the cluster pack needs replacing for over $1000. The faulty system, reported all over Jeep blogs, results in a complete loss of gauges, speedometer, temp, etc leaving the driver in an u safe scenario of operation and putting others on the road at risk. This has happened to our other Jeep as well. When we contacted Jeep corporate we were told we would hear something within 24 hours, and never heard from them. This happens randomly until complete failure occurs. This started early in the ownership of the new vehicle.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the steering wheel ceased, and the vehicle became difficult to steer. The contact stated that there was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed however, the mechanic stated that nothing needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 17,706.
Coolant reservoir cracked to allow coolant to leak at 5800 miles.
The Uconnect (Infotainment System) screen in our vehicle has suffered from delamination. The delamination between the two parts of the screen has resulted in persistent "ghost touching". This is where the screen acts as if it has been touched even though it has not. This ghost touching is sporadic and volatile and results in a very large distraction for the driver. On more than one instance this distraction has almost led to a collision. At one point the touch screen started to self dial SOS and would not respond to the initial attempts to hang up, causing the driver to be distracted and almost cause a collision. This is a known problem affecting multiple FCA vehicles where they have chosen to not recall or support the replacement of the faulty part. This issue can endanger the vehicle driver and others on the road way.
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the steering wheel vibrated abnormally, requiring added effort to keep the vehicle driving in a straight line. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the front track bar bracket needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and referred the contact back to the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 14,000.
While my vehicle is being repaired for steering issues I was given a loaner vehicle which is a 2020 JLU Sport. Driving the vehicle went to put down the driver-side visor to block the sun. When I did that the visor fell out of the arm. I had to act quickly to move the visor from obstructing my vision of the roadway. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS! The few seconds it took to move the visor so I could see the road could have resulted in an accident had there been more traffic on the roadway. This is not considered a powertrain issue so therefore it is not covered by Jeep. My vehicle has the same issue. After some research, there are a lot of other vehicles affected by this. Faulty equipment manufactured by Jeep. THERE NEEDS TO BE A RECALL PROCESSED ON THIS ISSUE.
My Jeeps steering wheel locked up while driving. It felt like the power steering lost all power. Also, multiple warning lights started to display and the speedometer stopped working.
Strong oder of exhaust when accelerating at high way speeds. The smell lingers in the cab of the Jeep until I open a window. Is strong enough to also smell while the top is down. Has been an on going issue.
Driving on the highway at 65 mph, getting of the highway onto an exit at @35 mph steering wheel completely lock and ABS ligh ame on . Was able to pull to the side cool car then drive . Two weeks prior the whole console stacwas replace because of the same problem.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2018 JEEP WRANGLER. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 21V028000 (POWER TRAIN) HOWEVER, THE PART TO DO THE RECALL REPAIR WAS NOT YET AVAILABLE. JACKSONVILLE CHRYSLER JEEP DODGE RAM WESTSIDE LOCATED AT 7030 COMMONWEALTH AVE, JACKSONVILLE, FL 32220, (904) 438-3500) WAS CONTACTED AND MADE AWARE OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER HAD EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE ISSUE. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. VIN TOOL CONFIRM PARTS NOT AVAILABLE.
Y07/NHTSA 21V-028 THE REPAIR JEEP HAS PROPOSED IS A SOFTWARE UPDATE WHICH WILL REDUCE AVAILABLE POWER. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE. JEEP NEEDS TO UPGRADE THE CLUTCH/PRESSURE PLATE TO HANDLE THE LOADS THAT THE ENGINE IMPOSES ON IT. A SOFTWARE CHANGE IS NONSENSE. THANK YOU
UCONNECT INFOTAINMENT SYSTEM FREQUENT FREEZES AND REBOOTS, AND THIS AFFECTS THE BACKUP CAMERA DISPLAY. SOMETIMES THE BACKUP CAMERA GUIDELINES DISAPPEAR, SOMETIMES THE BACKUP CAMERA DISPLAY SHOWS A BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH, SOMETIMES IT DOESN'T TURN ON WHEN SHIFTING TO REVERSE, AND SOMETIMES THE UNIT REBOOTS ITSELF OR FREEZES. THE REBOOTS AND FREEZES HAPPEN WHILE IN MOTION AND ARE VERY DISTRACTING.
POOR QUALITY WELDS ON THE WHOLE FRAME OF MY JEEP. NOT ONLY THAT BUT IT IS A 2 YEAR VEHICLE THAT IS RUSTING AWAY. CALIFORNIA VEHICLE KEEP IN MIND SO RUST SHOULD BE VERY MINIMAL. ALSO THE 5' UCONNECT RADIO FREEZES OFTEN AND SHUTS ON AND OFF.
REAR LOCKER/AXLE FAULTY. NOW ON MY 2ND TIME NEEDING REAR LOCKER/AXLE REPELACED. VEHICLE STARTED THROWING CODES IN RAINY WEATHER.
I PURCHASED THE JEEP WRANGLER AS THE FIRST OWNER IN 2018. I IMMEDIATELY FELT INCONSISTENCIES WITH THE STEERING. THE STEERING FELT LOOSE. AT THE TIME I EXPRESSED MY CONCERN TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT I PURCHASED THE JEEP FROM, I WAS TOLD THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON MY JEEP FOR THE 'DEATH WOBBLE' AND THAT IT WAS LIKELY THE RESULT OF THAT. THE RECALL WORK WAS COMPLETED WITHIN THE FIRST 12 MONTHS OF PURCHASE. THE RECALL REPAIR DID NOT RESOLVE THE ISSUE. THE STEERING CONTINUED TO FEEL LOOSE AND AS TIME WENT ON BECAME MORE EVIDENT. WHEN DRIVING ON THE EXPRESSWAY ONTO AN EXIT AT 40-50MPH I FOLLOWED THE SLIGHT CURVE AND THE STEERING FELT UNSTABLE AND WANDERED. THE BEST WAY TO DESCRIBE WHAT OCCURRED WOULD BE THAT IT FELT LIKE THE FRAME WAS FALLING OFF THE WHEELS. THIS CONTINUED MORE FREQUENTLY AND LAST WEEK BECAME UNMANAGEABLE. WHILE DRIVING 70MPH DOWN THE EXPRESSWAY, I WAS UNABLE TO MAINTAIN CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. IT FELT LIKE I WAS DRIVING A BOAT ON WATER. I FELT CONFIDENT THAT THE FRAME OF THE JEEP WAS LEAVING THE WHEELS. AT THIS TIME I NOTICED THAT THE GEARS WERE SLIPPING AS WELL. I MADE AN APPOINTMENT TO HAVE MY TRANSMISSION EXAMINED. THE EARLIEST AVAILABLE APPOINTMENT IS 6 DAYS OUT, SO I DECIDED TO SNEAK UNDER THE JEEP TO SEE IF THERE WAS A TRANSMISSION LEAK. WHAT I OBSERVED WAS SHOCKING TO FIND ON A 2018 VEHICLE AND CONSIDERABLY OVERWHELMING. MY DEGREE IS CRIMINAL SCIENCE, SO FAR FROM HAVING ANY AUTOMATIVE/ENGINEERING EXPERIENCE AND KNOWLEDGE, BUT CONTEXTUAL CLUES ARE EVIDENTIARY CLEAR TO ME. THE FEELING OF THE FRAME BEING DISPLACED FROM THE BODY OF THE VEHICLE IS A PROBABLE RESULT. I HAVE A DEEP CONCERN WITH THE CURRENT CONDITION OF THE WELDING OF THE FRAME AND THE CONDITION OF THE UNDERBODY.
WHEN TRAVELING AT 70MPH+, CERTAIN BUMPS WILL CAUSE THE STEERING WHEEL TO SHAKE VIOLENTLY. THE WHEEL IS IMPOSSIBLE TO HOLD ON TO. YOU HAVE TO SHOW DOWN TO AROUND 50MPH TO GET THE SHAKE TO GO AWAY. IT WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER AND ALTHOUGH I EXPLAINED IT HAS HAPPENED MULTIPLE TIMES, THEY SAID THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPLICATE IT AND THEREFORE UNABLE TO MAKE ANY REPAIRS
The contact owns a 2018 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving approximately 65 MPH, the front wheels started to shake and wobble. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that the failure was corrected independently. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed with needing the steering bow and track bar to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but continued to experience the failure. The contact called the local dealer and made them aware of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was 14,480.
'SERVICE AXEL LOCKING SYSTEM' WARNINGS LIGHT ON DASH. OCCURRED ON HIGHWAY IN MOTION, DRIVING STRAIGHT FORWARD.
I OWN A 2108 JEEP WRANGLER JL WITH 32,100-MILES ON THE ODOMETER. ON THREE SEPARATE OCCASIONS IN THE PAST MONTH, WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY AT 60+ MPH, MY STEERING AND FRONT SUSPENSION HAS STARTED SHAKING IN A WILD, UNCONTROLLABLE MANNER, FORCING ME TO NEARLY BRING MY VEHICLE TO A STOP. THE SITUATION SEEMS TO BE INITIATED BY HITTING BUMPS AT HIGHWAY SPEED, WHICH TRIGGERS A RUN-AWAY, VIOLENT, HARMONIC SHAKING (NOT JUST VIBRATIONS). I HAD THE TIRES REBALANCED AND ALIGNMENT CHECKED, BUT THE SAME THING HAPPENED'THIS EXTREME SHAKING IS DEFINITELY NOT A TIRE ISSUE. I'M NOT ONLY CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY; BUT IF THIS CONTINUES, THE VIOLENT NATURE OF THIS SHAKING WILL MOST CERTAINLY DAMAGE OTHER COMPONENTS OF THE SUSPENSION OR STEERING.
WHEN STARTING THE VEHICLE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE MORNING WHEN THE TEMP IS AT OR BELOW FREEZING FOR ABOUT THE FIRST 10-15 MINUTES OF DRIVING THE VEHICLE WILL NOT WANT TO TURN LEFT. IT FEELS LIKE IT IS BINDING UP AND YOU HAVE TO FORCE THE STEERING WHEEL TO THE LEFT BUT THEN IT WILL LET LOOSE AND SEND YOU TO THE LEFT WITH FORCE. THIS HAS CAUSED ME TO ALMOST WRECK SEVERAL TIMES. THANKFULLY I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO AVOID THE ONCOMING TRAFFIC BUT WORRY ONE TIME I WILL NOT. I WORRY FOR ANY PASSENGERS THAT MIGHT BE IN MY VEHICLE AND FOR MYSELF. I HAVE TAKEN IT INTO THE DEALERSHIP SEVERAL TIMES BUT BY THE TIME I GET IT THERE IT IS EITHER TO WARM OUT OR NOT DOING THE PROBLEM BECAUSE I HAVE DRIVEN IT TO THEM. I ALSO CONTACTED THE JEEP CARES LINE AND ALL THEY WOULD TELL ME IS TAKE IT TO THE DEALERSHIP. SO NO HELP THERE. I HAVE READ NUMEROUS POSTS ONLINE OF OTHER WRANGLER OWNERS HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE AND DEALERS HAVE REPLACED COMPONENTS AND FIXED THOSE ISSUES. BUT I CAN NOT SEEM TO GET ANY HELP WHEN I TAKE MINE IN. THIS IS VERY FRUSTRATING THAT JEEP KNOWS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM AS THERE IS A TSB OUT FOR IT BUT THEY WILL NOT FIX ANYTHING ON MINE BECAUSE THEY SAY THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.
Steering wheel shakes horribly. I feel every bump in the streets. Sometimes it feels as if I am about to lose control of my truck due to the lack of control. I have replaced the suspension, I have replaced the lower control arm, the ball joints twice and the same thing keeps happening.
EXPERIENCED THE 'DEATH WOBBLE' ON 03/20/2021.
The electronic dash unit (Stereo) that controls Navigation, climate, media and all other consumer input, changes the screen without touching it. The 8.4 unit is the main point of contact for a driver with the vehicle. The navigation blinks and switches areas with no touch on the screen. The dangers of the distraction is obvious to me. If they can’t make a decent unit for their expensive vehicles, maybe they should leave it out or just stop making vehicles. It’s obvious they have zero concern for customers’ safety. This is a known issue to Jeep, Chrysler, Stellantis or whatever the carmaker-du jour is!! It’s sickening what a company can get away with in this country.
WAS DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY WITH MY WIFE AND FIVE YR OLD SON WHEN WE HEARD A LOUD POP UNDERNEATH OUR 2018 JEEP WRANGLER AND INSTANTLY SAW A TRAIL OF SMOKE BEHIND US. WE IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER TO FIND TRANSMISSION GUILD GUSHING FROM UNDERNEATH WITH TONS OF SMOKE AS WELL. WE WERE HOPING THE SMOKE WAS PROBABLY JUST FROM FLUID ON THE MANIFOLD BUT WE SMALL FLASHES OF FIRE STARTING AT THE TRANSMISSION AND CLUTCH AREA. I QUICKLY GRABBED MY SON SITTING IN BACK AND WE JUMPED OVER THE CONCRETE BARRIER ON THE SIDE AND RAN AWAY FROM THE JEEP AS IT QUICKLY BECAME ENGULFED. IT STILL HAD THE TEMP TAGS HAVING ONLY HAD IT THREE WEEKS. IT WAS A 2018 WITH 15K MILES.
STEERING LOCKED UP MOMENTARILY AT 62 MPH DURING COLD WEATHER ( 38 DEGREES ) DRIVING.
I RECEIVED A LETTER STATING THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE CLUTCH. ABOUT A MONTH LATER I WAS DRIVING AND ALL OF A SUDDEN I WAS UNABLE TO SHIFT, THERE WAS A CLOUD OF SMOKE BEHIND MY JEEP. I WAS ONLY A FEW MILES FROM HOME SO VERY SLOWLY I GOT THERE. AND THERE WAS ALSO A BURNT SMELL. MY JEEP HAS BEEN AT THE DEALERS SINCE MARCH 18. TODAY THEY SAID THAT IT WAS NOT DUE TO THE CLUTCH RECALL AND I WOULD BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS. THIS IS MY 3RD MANUAL TRANSMISSION VEHICLE AND I DO NOT BEAT ON THEM. I KNOW HOW TO DRIVE A MANUAL VEHICLE. THE WHOLE TIME THE SERVICE MANAGER HAS BEEN TELLING ME HE BELIEVES IT WAS DUE TO THE RECALL. APPARENTLY SOMEONE FROM FCA MADE THE DECISION THAT IT WAS NOT.
AT 11K MILES THE JEEP BEGAN GOING INTO A DEATH WOBBLE WHEN DRIVING OVER SOMETHING AS SIMPLE AS A HOT TOP PATCH ON THE HIGHWAY AT APPX 60 - 65MPH. HAPPENS ON A WEEKLY BASIS NOW AND CAN ONLY BE STOPPED BY BRAKING SIGNIFICANTLY.
DUE TO KNOWN FACTORY DEFECT OF POORLY SOLDERED REAR WINDOW DEFROSTER CABLE, THE BARELY SOLDERED END OF THAT CABLE STARTED PRODUCE A SMOKE WHEN TURNED THE DEFROSTER ON, AND FEW SECONDS LATER THE REAR TAILGATE WINDOW GLASS EXPLODED, SHATTERED IN PIECES WHILE DRIVING ON A FREEWAY.
STEERING WHEEL SHAKES BACK AND FORTH AT SPEEDS BETWEEN 35 MPH TO 80 MPH AFTER HITTING A ROUGH SPOT OR WASHBOARD IN THE ROAD. AT HIGHWAY SPEED IT HAPPENS MOSTLY WHEN HITTING BRIDGE EXPANSION JOINTS
