On 12/06/2024 while driving on highway around 65 mph, hear loud bang and vehicle shut off (no warnings). Thanks to quick action of drive alongside, was able to get to side of highway without accident. Would restart but would not go into gear. Upon towing to dealer, discovered catastrophic failure of rear shaft and rear differential. Drive shaft broke off the differential. Dealer waiting on back ordered parts before they can determine if problem was by driveshaft, differential, or some other part of the drivetrain.
Purchasd in January 2024 similar incident reported twice, early 2024 and now this date 12/2/24. Incident includes vehicle warning to “stop Vehicle. Engine will shut down’ followed by errant warning gauges going off, cameras, speedometer other indicators not working. Twice brought to dealer. First time they could not verify condition. Now I at dealer again for incident service. Pending. Seems to be a recurring problem dating years back with no resolution from Jeep. A very unsettling issue as to safety and drivability of vehicle.
Has major oil leek. Dealer says its at the engine cooler. Could cause engine to fail or start fire due to oil spraying everywhere. Dealer waiting on part. No symptoms other than oil leaking on ground.
The contact owns a 2024 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while driving 65 MPH, the contact stated that whenever the vehicle was driven over a small pothole, the vehicle shook abnormally. In addition, the contact stated while driving over a bridge, the vehicle was driven over metal plates where the road and the bridge connected, and the vehicle shook violently. The contact stated that the failure occurred several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure was not duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. In addition, the contact stated that due to the failure the contact was concerned about driving the vehicle. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,907.
Failure: Possibly related to Drive train Problem: Happens everyday in the morning on a cold start, have seen it also happen after parking for a longer duration on a cold day. When the vehicle is put in Drive and moves forward and changes gear from 1st to 2nd, the vehicle lunges/jumps forward. It’s an extremely aggressive shift and literally jumps forward. This problem started happening after nearly a year. The first year was fine with no issues. It’s a scary feeling sitting in the driving seat not sure if its going to hit someone or the transmission is going to fall apart. Inspection: This was inspected by 2 different service centers. One of them reported that they were not able to see the issue. The 2nd service center says that it’s a hard shift which I can ignore.. but the Jeep is not supposed to drive that manner. Warnings & Signs: None. The problem started after nearly a year of ownership.
The instrument cluster screen panel went black without any warning. No information, just a solid black screen. I could not determine vehicle speed, fuel level, or see warnings/alerts for tire pressure, oil or transmission function. Vehicle is still in possession of dealership and not repaired.
1. Hybrid battery fire hazard – presents a real risk of fire while the vehicle is parked or in operation. 2.Engine debris from factory build – the engine contains debris from the manufacturing process, creating a risk of engine failure or further damage. I’ve reached out to dealership and Stellantis they offered no resolution but say they are “working on it.” No timeline given when resolution will be available while I’m still making my monthly lease payments on a defective, hazardous vehicle. Dealership said no resolution from Stellantis, Stellantis telling me to reach out to Jeep..
October 2024. While driving in city traffic, the vehicle suddenly lost propulsion. The car did not power off completely but weakened severely, making it difficult to continue driving. After approximately half a mile, propulsion recovered and the vehicle returned to normal operation. This incident occurred only once and has not repeated since.

I believe a serious malfunction occurred with a 2024 Jeep Wrangler on [XXX], the day after I purchased the vehicle. The incident took place while I was driving westbound on [XXX] , at a speed of 65 mph. At the time of the incident, I had both front Targa Top Panels removed, both front windows down, and both rear windows up. Suddenly, I was struck in the face by what felt like a rock. This unexpected impact caused me to swerve dangerously close to the median. Almost immediately, I noticed I was bleeding and experienced excruciating pain. Upon exiting the highway at my home exit, I checked on my nonverbal child to ensure their safety. To my dismay, I discovered an adjustable turning loop cover on the rear back floor of the vehicle. After further investigation I noticed my rearview mirror had a crack also. I'm confident this piece flew from my passenger side of my vehicle, hit off my window shield or rearview mirror, and into my face. Concerned about the safety implications of this malfunction, I returned to the dealership, Tyson’s Motor Shorewood in IL, where I purchased the Jeep. Although they offered to reattach the piece, I declined, as I believed this could pose a further risk of injury. I no longer own this Jeep after sustaining this injury I felt compelled to sell it for the safety of myself, and my children. I have reported this incident to Jeep, and my case number is #[XXX]. The malfunction resulted in a laceration and bruising to my face, and I strongly believe that this issue warrants investigation. The potential for more serious injuries, especially to other occupants or drivers, is a significant concern. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I have experienced TPSM issues that suddenly "resolve" by itself when taken to the dealership. On top of this, I also experience electrical issues from time to time such as audio from the radio not working, the screen glitching or not turning on, and other electrical issues. The worst issue is that I have a serious recall that can't be fixed due to parts not being available. I didn't purchase a brand new 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe so that I could have these issues. I should not have to worry about my jeep catching fire or parking it away from my home or other vehicles. You're welcome to inspect everything.
The contact owns a 2024 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that the manual transmission failed to operate as designed, and the vehicle intermittently hesitated while shifting gear. The contact stated there was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure or determine the cause of the failure. The dealer contacted the manufacturer about replacing the transmission under warranty; however, the manufacturer denied the request. The vehicle remained with the dealer unrepaired. The failure mileage was approximately 5,000.
While driving the vehicle, I received a warning that the clutch was overheated. A few days later, it had no acceleration while merging onto the freeway. Fourth fifth and sixth gears had zero acceleration and I was almost runoff the road. The vehicle would not go over 70 miles an hour And the cruise control failed. It told me service required. I took the vehicle into the dealer and they told me there were no codes so there was nothing they could do unless I made an appointment. Which I did their convenience was two days later. As I was leaving, they informed me that it would cost $180 to diagnose the problem, even if there was no problem. Since the initial problem, the vehicle has hesitated in all gears and has lost its “Peppiness” The vehicle is a brand new 2024 model. After googling I found that there was a recall up to 2023 models stick shift clutch overheating. I suspect they did not fix the issue and my 2024 may catch fire as well, also the lack of power is disheartening while driving And may also pose a risk.
I had several safety concerns regarding the 2024 Jeep Wrangler that I purchased and subsequently traded in after only 31 days due to multiple issues that I believe may compromise vehicle safety. Upon purchasing the vehicle, I noticed that the front inner splash guards were loose. After the dealership, Tyson’s Motors in Shorewood, IL, replaced both splash guards, I discovered that the front left splash guard had plugs that fell out, exposing critical hoses underneath. This issue raised immediate concerns about the potential for damage to these hoses and the vehicle's overall safety. In addition to the splash guard issue, I experienced further safety concerns, including screws from the inside speakers located between the front and rear seats falling off while driving, as well as a loose headlight pin. These problems not only posed a risk to my safety but also created an environment of uncertainty regarding the overall reliability of the vehicle. Due to these ongoing issues, I felt it necessary to trade in the Wrangler for an identical model, as I believed the original vehicle was possibly faulty. Unfortunately, the replacement vehicle caused me injury just two days later, which I have also reported to the NHTSA, dealership and Jeep. I believe these issues warrant serious attention and investigation to prevent potential safety hazards for other drivers, passengers, and those driving on the road.
2024 jeep 4xe constantly won’t engage in hybrid mode and will blow out thick white smoke from the exhaust (Not exhaust fumes) engine has become abnormally loud and idles very high. Oil percentage went from 90% to 0 just sitting idle in the driveway with in 10 mins resulting in 3 oil changes before 5,000 miles
I have not had any incident with this vehicle as of yet, but I bought it brand new a few months ago from Westgate motors in Raleigh, North Carolina. It’s a brand new jeep. It only had 12 miles when we got it from the start it has bad steering and it steers all over the road while you’re driving it you can be driving it all of a sudden it’ll just start to switch lanes or something or getting into another lane and then it feels as if the back end starts to sway like it was hit with a very bad wind. The cruise control varies up and down at times without even touching it. Coming down a hill once it moved over into her on coming lane. I had it back at the dealer several times and was told this is normal for jeeps due to their new design since 2018. I called jeep corp and they told me to call the dealer nothing they could or would do to help me. Dealer told me nothing they could do either and if I brought it back I would the trade in amount I had with my previous car. I’m writing here and letting my family know they if anything happens to me when driving this jeep to please have an investigation done. I have told the dealer I do not feel this is safe to be on the roads.
The first time this happened I was in Maryland, while reversing out of a parking spot onto [XXX] , the Jeep just shut off, just before that every light on the panel went off and the ABS, Powertrain just to name a few failed. I was stuck 3/4 out of the spot when the shutdown occurred, the steering wheel locked, gear shift wouldn’t move and when I tried to press the brake it wouldn’t go down. I had to hit the ignition to reset it while out in oncoming traffic, after 2 attempts, I was able to get it started and shift into park, then drive and then pull in. During this time the check engine light was on. When I returned to NH I took it to the dealership ( Bonneville & son) they had it for nearly 2 weeks, determined it was the alternator output. They ordered a new one but due to a sku error in jeeps system, it was the wrong part, so they had it an additional 4 days. Today [XXX], I was pulling Symmes Dr to park at the park and ride in Londonderry. While going around a curve, the jeep did the same thing and just shut off at 32mph. Steering wheel locked up, everything went dark on all screens, I could not brake or accelerate. There was no space on the side of the road, there was a line of 3 cars on the opposite lane and there was a tractor trailer in my rearview mirror shuttering. He was able to stop at an angle but was stopped less than 4 feet from my rear bumper. When I saw it in the mirror, I thought that was it. I was almost killed today due to jeeps complacency. Vehicle sold 11/17/2023 by dealership with know issue with information screen. Screen goes black while backing up, using map, have been attempting to have issue fixed since purchase of vehicle, told it is a computer software issue, both Jeep and dealership are are of issue.
Issue: Front End violent DEATH WOBBLE at interstate [XXX] speed of 75mph on [XXX] outside Benson AZ (unexpected and harsh). Hit rough patch in road and steering wheel and front end violently shook side to side for about 5 minutes until I slowed to below 50mph. Almost crashed into other cars but I regained control at a slower speed and had no accident. Vehicle purchased on [XXX] new. Slow 45mph initial test drive had no wobble. Dealer attempted to repair on 2 occasions in June 2024 but could not guarantee it fixed. They bled and primed its newer dampener which was empty/never primed. Supposedly it was the newer upgraded steering dampener that was to have fixed this issue but did not fix it. Had 3 more minor wobbles after Dealer fixes on the next 3 weekends driving on [XXX] at 70MPH but these were less intense and manageable (did not scare me so much as I was expecting them), Now I locally drive it with no major issues. Will have Dealer review at the next 5000 mile service. This Death Wobble should NOT be in a $58000 Jeep Sahara. Very scary. Dealer confirmed issue, but applied no permanent fix. Said to drive under 75MPH and be aware of the front beam axle feelings. No messages or warnings before, during or afterwards. The wobbles catch you by surprise. After these experiences I can drive it okay. I have owned over 10 Jeeps and none had this wobble issue. If informed about this Sahara's wobble, I would not have bought it. Dealer made no effort to replace vehicle or refund my money. So I am stuck. The Jeep forums mention this being an issue for 2024 saharas and some 4Xe jeeps. HVAC DEFOGGER RECALL HAS NEVER BEEN REPAIRED! air flow would not clear visibility when driving there is a recall on hvac defogger system and also an update within the vehicle itself computer system on my vehicle. I was researching this recall when I accidentally tapped onto this issue being completed while i was on credit karma, accidental tapping thst I’d done this repair when I had not! I believe by me doing this it took my personal vehicle off the list …I was trying to research everything about this recall and I hit that as repaired by accident when I never had this issue repaired! I was driving when I needed this hvac defogger to work, in south Texas. The HVAC DEFOGGER SYSTEM did not work at all! I was close to 3 accidents and I drove over a curb due to zero visibility at that time!
The shop is alleging that the Steering box failed causing the driver to loose control resulting in the death of the driver.
Going down the road at 70mph and tire blew out. It only had 8600 miles on it. Tire size 245/75r/17
The contact owns a 2024 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated while stopped at a toll booth, the vehicle independently accelerated with the brake pedal depressed. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer and was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 317.
My 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe is currently subject to an active fire-risk battery recall with instructions to “park outside” and “do not charge.” There is no remedy available for my VIN at this time. The manufacturer states there is a risk of the high-voltage battery catching fire. In addition to the recall, the vehicle has exhibited violent, unsafe jolting movements during acceleration and normal driving, which is consistent with high-voltage battery or hybrid drivetrain malfunction. These unexpected surges and jolts make the vehicle feel unstable and dangerous to operate for me and my family of four. Because of the fire risk AND these sudden jolts, I do not feel safe driving this vehicle. I have attempted multiple times to work with Jeep Customer Care to initiate a Safety Recall Compensation case, but Stellantis/Jeep has repeatedly refused to open a case and continues redirecting me between departments. On 11/17 at approximately 3:20 PM, a Customer Care agent named Louie transferred me to a local dealership when I requested a supervisor, even though the dealership confirmed they cannot initiate compensation or buyback requests. Jeep Customer Care has failed to: Open a recall compensation case Escalate the safety concerns Address the violent jolting behavior Provide written communication Follow proper recall procedures At this time, I have a vehicle that is unsafe to drive, unsafe to charge, and exhibiting dangerous mechanical behavior with no available repair. I am requesting NHTSA assistance to compel Stellantis/Jeep to follow recall safety protocols and provide a remedy, compensation, or replacement for this unresolved safety defect.
The issue involves the engine/powertrain system as identified in Recall 78C for my 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe. The recall states there is a risk of catastrophic engine failure, vehicle fire, and unexpected loss of propulsion. At this time, the manufacturer has indicated that no repair remedy is available. This defect creates a safety concern because sudden loss of propulsion or engine failure could occur without warning while driving, increasing the risk of a crash, especially at highway speeds or in traffic. Prior to the recall, I experienced an incident where the vehicle began sputtering and would not respond properly to acceleration, significantly limiting vehicle movement. The issue was evaluated by a dealership, but the condition could not be replicated at that time. Based on the current recall involving engine contamination and propulsion failure, I am concerned that this prior incident may be related. The problem has not been resolved because there is currently no available repair. The manufacturer has acknowledged the defect through the recall but has not provided a timeline for a fix. I have contacted the manufacturer regarding this safety issue; however, my concerns about the risk associated with this defect have not been addressed, and no resolution has been provided. I am submitting this complaint to document the safety risk associated with this unresolved defect and the lack of an available remedy. Continued operation of the vehicle may pose a risk to occupants and others on the roadway due to the potential for sudden loss of propulsion or engine failure.
The contact owns a 2024 Jeep Wrangler. The contact stated that when attempting to accelerate from being idle, or while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would suddenly jerk, accelerate at an unexpected speed, or fail to accelerate. There was a ticking noise coming from the front end of the vehicle that could be heard when standing outside the vehicle. The Check Engine light and the explanation warning light, as well as others not specified, would illuminate intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer several times; however, the dealer was not able to diagnose the failure. The dealer updated the vehicle's software but was unable to provide a remedy for the failures. The dealer informed the contact of NHTSA Campaign Numbers: 25V741000 (Electrical System) and 25V766000 (Engine); however, the parts to do the recall repair were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. While driving approximately 25 MPH, after accelerating from being idle at a stop light, the vehicle suddenly jerked and stopped. The contact pressed the accelerator pedal, and when doing so, the vehicle accelerated at a high speed, immediately causing the contact to lose control of the vehicle. The vehicle ended up crashing into a fire hydrant, causing it to stop. The air bags did not deploy. The contact received injuries to their shoulders, lower back, neck, and left knee. Medical attention was needed. A police report had been filed. The vehicle was towed from the incident. The contact stated that while the police were there, the officer noticed the engine revving as if the accelerator pedal was being pressed; however, the pedal was not pressed at the time. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue, and a case was opened. The contact had not heard from the failure. The contact had not experienced a failure mileage was unknown.
MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN BROUGHT BACK MULTIPLE TIMES DUE TO THE HYBRID NOT WORKING. AS PER THE DEALER, NO FIX IN CURRENTLY AVAILABLE FOR THIS VEHICLE. I PURCHASED THIS TYPE OF VEHICLE TO SAVE ON GASOLINE, WHICH I HAVEN'T BEEN ABLE TO DO. I SPEND OVER $712 PER MONTH AND IT HAS NEVER WORKED PROPERLY
Steering wheel has excessive play while driving, forcing driver to constantly correct when driving down the highway. Jeep will drift out of lane on its own putting all drivers at risk. From time to time the steering gets better for one trip but then back to being sloppy the next drive. One dealership said it needs steering box replaced, the place which I bought it from new, said it is “just a Jeep thing.” Both dealerships said that they checked other steering components: tire pressure, ball joints, etc. No warning lights have come about at any time. There are forums online littered with comments of people with similar issues. No accidents have taken place at this time fortunately.
We leased our jeep [XXX and started having Software (SW) issues in December 2023. We were informed in June 2024, after having multiple SW issues, from dealer senior mechanic that 90% of the first wave 2024 Jeep Wranglers had SW issues. Our jeep was a first wave unit, we were not informed of a possible SW during test drive. There's been two SW updates that I know of, one in late Jun 2024 and another in mid Sept 2024. Neither fixed all the SW issues and in fact added more additional issues. Dates listed or beginning dates. Issues include Control-D: going totally blank starting in Jan 2024 on startup or while driving or starting, in Oct 2024 having a half inch strip across the top and down left side, Dash navigation direction provides two dashes starting Jul 2024 on startup and for about 30sec, GPS freezing up in Aug 2024, all functions on screen froze up Nov 2024, to name a few. FCA US LLC has no idea when the next SW update will be released or what fix's will be included. Hardware (HW): Mar 2024 headlights with switch in Auto will come on in broad sunlight. While driving on [XXX], engine warning light came on and remained on for a total of 36hours during start up and driving time. Presently at Starr Motors Suffolk, VA since Dec 16, 2024. They have been directed to trouble shoot and fix HW. We've were informed Jan 14, 2025, that the Oil Control Valve is bad, and more testing will be performed once parts are replaced. With the SW and HW issues this jeep has had, we believe it is not operationally safe to drive. INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
I bought a brand new 2024 Jeep wrangler which has failed twice for the same issue with just 512 miles on the odometer. The first time it failed happened on the freeway at a speed of 70mph. Smoke started coming out from the rear of the vehicle impairing the traffic behind. I pulled over to the shoulder and noticed oil dripping from the exhaust and the rear undercarriage of the vehicle. I drove the car home fearing it could get on fire. The next day i took the car to the dealership where it was diagnosed with a bad pinion seal on the rear axle at 241miles on the odometer. At around 480 miles on the odometer, the issue came back. Everything happened pretty much the same; smoke coming from the exhaust, differential fluid splashed all over the undercarriage. Vehicle will be towed to the dealership for further inspection.
Driving in parking lot, as I went to turn into a spot, my 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe suddenly accelerated as if I had floored the gas. Unintentional acceleration continued as I applied and pumped the brakes. The Jeep hit a concrete and metal pole in the lot, and continued to try to accelerate, crawling up the pole until the engine was shut off.
Radio keeps resetting it self, the screen freezes then shuts off. Now the door locks are not working correctly. Ever since I bought the jeep brand new the key fob does not always unlock the doors. Jeep dealership along with the engineers do not know how to fix the issue
I am writing to report a critical safety issue involving my 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe following the most recent Uconnect system update. After installing the update, my vehicle completely shut off while driving on the highway, putting my entire family in immediate danger. This was not a minor malfunction—our lives were at risk. After researching online and communicating with other Jeep owners, I have learned that this Uconnect-related failure is affecting multiple 2024 4xe vehicles, indicating a widespread and serious defect that must be addressed immediately. I am demanding immediate contact from a senior executive or engineer to discuss this issue, next steps for resolution, and assurance that Jeep will take full responsibility for this safety hazard. If I do not receive a prompt response, I will be escalating this matter through legal channels and reporting it to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) for investigation.
