Jeep sent an OTA update through the Uconnect system on 10/10. This morning while driving my vehicle lost power unexpectedly and was forced to stop and the check engine light is now on. Thankfully I was in a quiet residential area with not a lot of traffic or this could have been a serious accident. Jeep is saying it is was a telematics box module update and no fix is ready at this time.
A software update was installed yesterday, and I almost died on a busy interstate when my vehicle shut down and would not restart. The jeep software update is causing THOUSANDS of vehicles to shut down. I literally had to wait hours for police to show up to clear the road so we could safely tow the vehicle. I come to home look on the Jeep forums and LOTS of people had the same issues.
The car performed an automatic update last night. Driving it today, the car automatically shut down multiple times on a busy street. My life was in danger multiple times. There is no solution and this is negligence.
As I was driving the car on the highway, the engine light came on, then the "D" for drive gear started flashing and I could no longer accelerate or give the car gas. The only option was to "coast" across several lanes to the break down lane, put the car completely in park, shut off the ignition, and then restart the vehicle to drive again. This happened to me at least 7-8 times today (5 times while on the highway and a few while on other roads leading to and from the highway). I was unfortunately already on a drive to drop my children off somewhere so I had no choice but to complete the ride to the destination, then drive back home to park the vehicle. Needless to say, it's a very scary situation when you can no longer accelerate with cars coming up quickly behind you and you are unable to do anything but try to coast to a safe place to put the car in park and shut it off. It also happened to me while crossing an intersection and oncoming traffic from the other direction that then had a green light was swerving around me. I tried calling Jeep customer service to ask if it's a widespread issue and after 20 minutes on hold, the customer service rep came on to simply say their system is down and they're currently unable to assist anyone. I was almost in several accidents because of the issue and hope they send out a warning to all of those affected, assuming it was more than just my vehicle, because this seems to be occurring every since there was a mandatory software update yesterday. This happened at different speeds, in both electric and gas mode, and once while stopped at a red light, so there appears to be no consistent condition under which it occurs. It just unexpectedly happens and you need to pull somewhere safe with minimal control because of the lack of being able to accelerate (esp. if it occurs while you're on an upward slope because the ability to coast is almost nil).
Today while driving on my street in Electric mode at ~25-30 mph, suddenly an alarm dinged and the “D” on the transmission started flashing and the “check engine” light came on. I lost power to the drivetrain (pressing the accelerator pedal did nothing) and an alert on the screen said to press the brake pedal and start button to start the car. I pulled over, turned it off, then turned it back on again. It started driving but then the same thing happened after ~1 minute. Luckily I was in my neighborhood and not on a highway, so I was able to pull over. It was a bit scary because as the Jeep was almost to a stop (but still moving) suddenly the power steering gave out. Luckily I was near the curb. I repeated the same process, drove for one minute, repeat, one minute, repeat. The check engine light was on the whole time. This behavior has been documented by other Jeep owners on the internet and appears to be a software issue. Having the vehicle randomly shut down while driving is INCREDIBLY dangerous.
My car was stalling out every 30 second while I was driving. The dash would immediately tell me to put my car in park. Once I put my car in park, my car would lock up and not let me shift back into drive unless I turned the car off and back on again. This is extremely dangerous as my car just shuts down mid driving. The car is currently at the dealership being inspected and they have not fully confirmed what’s going on. The check engine light came on also the low tire pressure came on as well even though I did not have low tire pressure because it was showing my gauge in my gauge was normal.
After software update jeep will not drive
The latest Uconnect 5 update was performed by the Jeep dealership on my 2024 Wrangler 4xe on October 11th, 2024. After leaving the dealership, the vehicle shut off while driving and displayed a message instructing me to “shift to Park.” I lost propulsion and power steering, creating an immediate safety hazard. The dealership had just completed the update and told me it was safe to drive. Based on reports circulating among other 2024 Wrangler 4xe owners, this appears to be a widespread issue linked to the most recent Uconnect 5 update (released around October 10, 2025). Please investigate this issue as a potential safety defect related to the software update.
I accepted a uconnect software update last night and this morning lost complete power while diving my jeep multiple times. I had to pull over on busy streets, put the vehicle in park, turn on/off the vehicle a couple times and got it to start again. The check engine light has been on since. I went to the dealership and they said they’ve received multiple complaints today as well. I have it home and not drivable.
While driving, a warning suddenly appeared stating “Electronic Stability Control Failure.” Immediately afterward, the vehicle stopped accelerating and automatically shifted from RUN to ACC mode with no throttle response or acceleration control. Traffic was moderate, and when the vehicle abruptly lost propulsion, several cars behind me had to brake hard and nearly collided with my vehicle. I was able to coast and pull off the roadway safely, but it was a dangerous situation that could easily have caused an accident. This failure occurred without warning, and the vehicle has a history of prior powertrain and driver-assistance system issues, including repeated “Four Wheel Drive Service” and “Electric Power Steering Fail” warnings earlier in 2025. The most recent event on October 11, 2025, was the most severe and created a serious safety hazard. Vehicle: 2024 Jeep Wrangler 4xe Mileage: approximately 10,000 miles Condition: Leased, well maintained, all service performed at authorized Jeep dealership
I was slowing down for a stoplight vehicle shut off, came to an abrupt stop and shifted itself into Park. I then had to use the shifter knob to adjust it to Park to get the vehicle to turn on. This almost caused and rear end accident as I was not fully to the stop line area of for the light. The vehicle would then not go over 2500 RPMs and had to be limped off of the roadway. There were no warnings before this happened. All of it happened in a split second and my partner and I were jolted forward. I immediately reported this to the jeep dealership and they were very concerned about this. After this incident, my service engine light came on and stayed on later in the day it disappeared on its own without any clearing of any devices. I have attached pictures of what showed up as warning lights as soon as this incident happened.
Updated vehicle last night via u-connect, vehicle died today while driving, lost all power. Check engine light on, hundreds of posts via social media with the same problem
2024 Hybrid. Vehicle shuts down while driving. Driver had to pull over to shut vehicle down and then restart it. Very dangerous situation.
The Jeep stop while driving reduced speed, the dashboard said shift to P AND that it was not safe to drive due to performance. The check engine light is on and will not turn off, the jeep will not drive in electric mode. Also there was an update with Uconnect.
Completed the 'Uconnect' Update last night. This morning it drove for about 30 seconds before it completely shut down and the check engine light came on. Neither the electric, hybrid or gas engine would work. I was able to have it drift/coast to the left to park it. Turned it off and back on and it made it home. It was then towed to the dealership. My safety would be at risk if someone hadn't realized what was happening and had run into me. The vehicle has been taken to the shop, they won't diagnose it until Monday, but I did send them a video of the error. No warning lights prior to the car losing power.
Vehicle completely shuts off while driving. Forced to come to a stop and restart. Started happening after over the air update to the u connect system. Happens 6 times on 20 mile drive.
After a prompt on the infotainment system to update “Uconnect” I accepted. The car was parked for the duration of the update. 30 minutes later, I was driving on a 45mph road and lost power and an error stating to put the car in park and restart the vehicle. The check engine light stayed on after restart. I was able to drive about a mile home and jeep towed the vehicle to the nearest dealer.
Loss of all motive power on 4XE while driving, put my daughter at risk of a crash. Vehicle loss all power steering and motive power when from driving to rolling.
Vehicle did over the air software update overnight. First drive the vehicle after approximately half a mile engine stalled out electronics went off. Vehicle lost communication with key would not restart. MIL light showing many codes on reader. Several power cycles vehicle run, but cut out further three times once on a freeway underpass. The hazard flashing lights would not work dead on key. Restarted it after five seconds limped to parking lot. Came back after shopping vehicle seems OK. Very dangerous issue complete loss of power.
The engine shut down while driving
Uconnect software update was pushed through and causing issues with drivability.
Got an OTA Update last night, this morning saw some post on the internet about that update went to check my jeep and it came on but once it kicks the gas engine for like 2 or 3 seconds the vehicle shut off and asked to shift to park, if I don’t see this internet news I’d have been stranded on the road
Software update causes vehicle to completely loose power after two minutes or so of driving. Very serious problem and dangerous. Requires stopping vehicle immediately and rebooting. Happens again and again.
Jeep pushed a software update on 4xe models on 10-10-2025. Today on 10-11-25 I pulled out of my driveway drove less than 100 feet and lost power. The check engine light came on vehicle said to switch to park and start the vehicle. This happens four times trying to turn around in a 2 block radius to get home. With the vehicle parked I turned it on kept my foot on the brake vehicle in drive and it continues to occur. Dealership said they had several 4xe towed in and multiple calls. Jeep customer service claims they are unaware of the issue. My 2024 Jeep is not drivable.
The vehicle did an over-the-air update to the vehicles software, u connect. The vehicle has since suffered two losses of propulsion while driving, with check engine light indicator illumination and a P1E1D code. This has been reported by numerous other 2024 4xe drivers.
Jeep pushed a Uconnect update on 10/10/2025 which I installed, caused my vehicle to shut off completely during driving on a main road shortly after leaving my home. All engine and dash lights came on, coult not take the vehicle out of drive. The shifter was stuck. I turned the vehicle off then moved shifter back to park and started it again. It continued to do this every few feet. This is extremely dangerous and could cause major accidents to happen.
The Uconnect system updated last night this morning the jeep shuts off while driving about every .5-1 mile
My jeep suddenly lost power and “service hybrid vehicle system” popped up 6 times. The engine had suddenly cut at 70mph. The was the morning after I had an over the air update from Jeep. It has not done this before.
After the the latest U-connect update, my jeep will not run after about 30 seconds while driving. Stalls while in motion. Will restart, but then shuts off again. Has an engine code on dash.
Did software update and car turned off while in drive
Vehicle Safety Incident & Recall Case Summary In approximately October 2025, while my son was driving the vehicle on Highway 85 at approximately 70 mph, the car suddenly shut off and lost power without warning. He was able to safely pull over to the side of the road and had to restart the vehicle in order to continue driving. At the time of this incident, the vehicle had only a few thousand miles. As a parent, I am deeply concerned about my son’s safety, particularly given that this power loss occurred at highway speeds without warning. Shortly after this incident, I personally experienced a separate failure while driving the vehicle, during which the car would not accelerate as expected. This created an additional and serious safety concern during normal driving conditions. We brought the vehicle to an authorized Jeep dealership for evaluation. The dealership informed us that this issue was associated with a known recall and advised that there was no available fix or remedy at that time. In addition to this recall, the vehicle is subject to two other active safety recalls, both of which also lack available repairs: A recall involving sand or debris in the engine, which may impact engine performance and long-term reliability. A recall involving the high-voltage battery, for which we have since received additional notices advising us not to charge the vehicle and not to park it inside or near structures due to a fire risk. There is currently no fix available for this defect. We selected this vehicle specifically as an electric vehicle, in part because it was intended to be charged and used safely at home and to avoid the ongoing cost of gasoline. The current instructions not to charge the vehicle and to avoid parking it inside or near structures eliminate the vehicle’s intended purpose and expected use. Because of the loss of power at highway speeds, the failure to accelerate, the ongoing safety concerns, and the existence of multiple unresolved safety recal
Car stoped while driving and power was out forced to turn on engine again then able to drive. It happened 7-8 times in 5miles. Had to stopped and started again and again to get my place.
Was driving car and on the intersection it failed to continue to keep going and immediately lost power and would only move at 3 miles per hour. Felt scared and at risk with my toddler in the car.
I have had multiple issues with this vehicle including • A failed sensor resulted in the loss of traction control, four-wheel drive, and ABS brakes, making the vehicle unsafe to operate. • A fuel sensor malfunction caused gasoline to backflow and spill during refueling. • On a separate occasion, the vehicle shut off completely while driving, leaving me without control of the vehicle. There are now 2 recalls on the vehicle. 1 for the vehicle randomly turning off and the other for potential to catch fire. Neither of which the dealership or Stellantis has issued a fix and are saying it’s “safe to drive”, however I failed my inspection a few months due to a torn windshield wiper because that is a safety risk.
Over-the-air firmware update that caused an in-motion shutdown while driving. various dash lights came on, shift to park indicator flashed, loss power, steering wheel stiffened up to the point it wouldn't move. There were no warnings before it went haywire. My family's safety was at risk as we were driving and it put us in danger and had to carefully get to the side of the road. We had it towed to Jeep where they say they fixed it but we have no trust to drive it now. The service advisor at the Jeep dealerships said "it looks like someone at Jeep pushed the big red button and sent out an update that wasn't ready yet" which is a huge concern for all Jeep owners.
A software update was pushed put to the Jeep via over the air update on or around 10/10/2025. After installation, Jeep unexpectantly shut down while driving. I was doing approx 35 miles per hour 1/2 mile from my house in the first drive after the update happened. All power to the jeep was lost and I was forced to drive off the road as i no longer had any abiblity to accelerate. After pulling off the road I was able to press the brake and start the vehicle. It started but only went another short distance before losing power again. This happened muiltiple times before I was able to make it back to the house. THe check engine light also appeared. The loss of power was 100% attributable to the software update as per many Jeep forums. This update was rolled out OTA on a Friday and with the dealerships closed over the weekend I had to find other transporation as my vehicle was bricked. Received the car back from the dealer on 10/22 after a system control software update.
Please see attached document.
Check engine light l, shift to park message with multiple warning lights occurrence after an OTA update. Vehicle had limited throttle and went into limp mode while driving. Received diagnostic trouble codes p0a45 p1e1d u0594. Jeep said there was an update but codes still persist a week after the “fix”. The codes are not archived . The are listed confirmed .
We were driving the car after a faulty over the air update that forced the car to shut down while driving. My kids were in the car this created a very dangerous situation. We were able to “limp” it to a parking lot but it could have been more dangerous had we been on a freeway.
THE CAR FRONT END SHAKES AT VARIOUS TIMES. IT IS INTERMITTENT, BUT IT SHAKES FROM SLIGHT TO SEVERE ON DIFFERENT OCCASIONS. THE CAR HAS BEEN TO TWO DEALERSHIPS AND THEY DRIVE CAR AND CANNOT DUPLICATE PROBLEM.. I READ ONLINE IT IS COMMON AND IS KNOWN AS "THE DEADT WOBBLE" JEEP ACKNOWLEDGES THIS BUT WILL NOT ATTEMPT TO FIX WITHOUT DUPLICATING THE PROBLEM.. THE CAR IS STILL UNDER WARRANTY WITH 18000 MILES. MY CONCERN IS IT SHOULD BE FIXED WHILE UNDER WARRANTY AND IF WARRANTY RUNS OUT IT MAY FAIL AND I WILL BE STUCK PAYING FOR THE PROBLEM THAT SHOULD BE FIXED NOW.. THIS IS MY WIFES CAR AND WE LIVE IN THE MOUNTAINS OF NC.. THIS COULD BE A VERY DANGEROUS CONDITION DRIVING DOWN THE MOUNTAIN IN THE RAIN AND FOR THIS SEVERE FRONT END SHAKING. IN MY OPINION IT NEEDS TO BE INVESTIGATED WITH THE POSSIBLE RECALL TO FIX
While driving my 2024 Jeep Rubicon 4xe, both the Check Engine and “Service Battery” lights came on, and the vehicle suddenly shut down completely in the middle of a busy intersection. I lost all ability to accelerate, steer, or brake — the steering wheel locked, and the vehicle was inoperable in heavy traffic. I was trapped in the lane with vehicles approaching from all directions, unable to move or control the car in any way. It was a frightening and dangerous experience that could have resulted in a serious accident. This was the second time this same issue occurred. The first happened around May 17, 2024, when the vehicle had approximately 500 miles. The dealership repaired it under warranty and returned it to me. The most recent incident occurred around October 10, 2025, at approximately 10,000 miles. The San Leandro Jeep Dodge Ram Chrysler dealership inspected the vehicle and confirmed that Jeep engineering is aware of the problem and that a fix is being developed, but there is no known repair or release timeline. They stated the only option was to clear the codes and return the vehicle. This is also my second Jeep 4xe to experience the exact same issue. My previous 4xe was repurchased by the manufacturer (FCA/Stellantis) in 2023 after similar “Service Battery” warnings and total shutdowns while driving. This ongoing defect is a severe safety hazard. The vehicle can lose all power, propulsion, and steering without warning, leaving the driver and others on the road in immediate danger. A total loss of control — especially while crossing an intersection or driving at speed — could easily result in a crash or fatal injury.
After an update on the vehicle it shut off while driving, I had no control of the steering. All the lights on the dash came one and I had to put it in park and restart the car. Then the check engine light came on.
I was driving my vehicle on the highway at 60mph. The car turned itself off, I lost power steering and brakes and drove into a drainage culvert after almost hitting several cars. The vehicle would not restart initially and I had to wait 5 minutes before it started back up. It died 3 more times with in 1 mile before I made it to a safe area to park the vehicle. There was no warning before this happened.
Installed a mandatory update to car electronics on Friday night (Oct. 10, 2025). The car -- an 8-month-old Jeep Wrangler Sahara 4xe 2024 -- literally died while driving on a local highway at highway speeds. All warning lights lit up. Then the car just died... Had it towed to the local dealership where 4 other people already were being processed with the same problem. Two others walked in while I was there. Dealership provided "Jeep Care" phone number but the office was closed over the weekend. Spent a weekend without a vehicle and contacted them on Monday at ~5:30 a.m. Pacific time. Spent almost an hour on the phone. (Phone call recorded.) was told that someone will contact us within 24 hrs to assist with vehicle rental/replacement while the issue is being resolved. It is Tuesday, Oct.14, 2025, afternoon. Spent multiple hours (!) on hold with "Jeep Care." No one knows what is going on. The dealership told me they have almost 100 cars on their lot with same problem. To date, no help from Jeep.
I was driving my car and came to a near stop. when I attempted to drive the car again the vehicle displayed a message to shift to park and then restart the vehicle. I did that and was able to drive another 30 miles home. The next day, I drove the car 20 miles to get an oil change. When I drove a mile away from the oil change location the car displayed a shift to park and restart message again. After that, I was able to drive the car 20 miles home. About an hour later, I drove 1/2 mile up the road and the car again displayed a shift to park message and restart as I was driving up to 50 mph on the highway. I was able to get the car home, but the message displayed again twice. The car shuts off if you do not follow the instructions so as I was driving up to 50 mph the car lost power creating a very dangerous driving scenario.
Vehicle lost complete power while driving almost causing an accident.
the vehicle turns off due to a software patch and not drivable. it turns off at highway speeds
On 10/10/25, I lost drive power after the OTA Uconnect update. On my drive, I abruptly had absolutely no acceleration, the gear indicator on the dash started flashing, the power mode indicator disappeared, an alert said shift into park and press the brake + start button, and the check engine light and red wrench lights came on. I was still able to steer and brake with power steering and brakes for maybe 30 seconds before those went out too. This happened in the middle on an intersection which was terrifying. After putting it into park and pressing the brake and start button it started back up and I could drive it normally for a little bit, but it happened two more times on my 1.5 mi drive home. I called AAA to tow it to the dealership (Herb Chambers Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM FIAT of Millbury, 2 Latti Farm Road). The dealership informed me that Jeep instructed them not to work on my vehicle. The dealership had me contact Jeep customer service myself on 10/13/25. I have called Jeep Customer Service three times with no update or communication from the case manager and I am without a vehicle as of the time of this submission. Both the dealership, Herb Chambers Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM FIAT of Millbury and Jeep Customer Service have not been cooperative or willing to assist me in this safety concern. I have lost a day and a half of work and still have no information or status update.
Received a Uconnect update on 10/10/2025 OTA. Vehicle is no longer opperating correctly and e-save mode will no longer turn on. Vehicle is randomly shutting off while driving and check engine light is now present. Dropping at a jeep location to investigate as vehicle is not save to opperate when driving due to issue of randomly dying while in motion.
Updated the center screen and minutes later, my Wrangler popped and the frontal collision, CEL, Stability Trak lights came on And the truck came to a halt in traffic on a busy street. I shockingly was not hit, and got the truck to the side of the road. And I was able to army crawl the truck to the dealership. The vehicle was grinding gears and the 4xe system was completely inoperable. This was extremely dangerous.
