TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 KIA AMANTI. WHILE APPROACHING A STOP LIGHT, THE RMPS INCREASED RAPIDLY, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED AND LUNGED INTO TRAFFIC. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED BY A DEALER. THE CONTACT IS CONCERNED ABOUT THE SAFETY RISK SINCE A CRASH COULD HAVE OCCURRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000.
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 KIA AMANTI. GASOLINE BEGAN TO SPILL OUT FROM THE FUEL LINES LOCATED NEAR THE DRIVER'S SIDE REAR TIRE WHILE THE CONTACT WAS REFUELING THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE RECURRED WHENEVER FUEL WAS ADDED TO THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE CONTACT WAS TOLD THAT THE IN-TANK VALVE WAS STUCK IN THE OPEN POSITION, ALLOWING FUEL TO EXIT THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. APPROXIMATELY 18 MONTHS LATER THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN BACK TO BE REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 45,094 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 58,000.
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO APPLY PRESSURE TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL THE VEHICLE HESITATED. THIS OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY CAR APPEARED TO BE STUCK IN FIRST AND WOULD NOT SHIFT. ENGINE SURGE/STALL IN THE 2005 KIA AMANTI. I HAD IT REPAIRED (OR SO THEY SAID) LAST JUNE, BUT THE PROBLEM PERSISTS. SINCE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DOES NOT COME ON THEY SAY THEY CAN NOT FIND OR FIX THE PROBLEM. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 KIA AMANTI. THE CONTACT STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD INDEPENDTLY DECREASE SPEED AND WOULD NOT GO ANY FASTER THEN 15 MPH. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES WHO STATED THEY NEEDED TO CLEAN THE WIRES. THE WIRES WERE CLEANED BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE REPAIR WAS DONE UNDER WARRANTY EACH TIME. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED WHO OFFERED NO ASSISTANCE. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000 AND THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000.
MY 2005 KIA AMANTI HAS A PROBLEM AS WHEN DRIVING IT WILL LURCH AND LAG "BUMP". IT HAS BEEN IN THE DEALERS SHOP MANY TIMES FOR A TOTAL OF 38 DAYS. THE DEALER DID REPLACE THE TRANSMISSION WITH A REBUILT UNIT. THE PROBLEM STILL EXISTS AND THE DEALER SAYS HE CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. SO HE CANNOT FIX IT. A WEB SITE HAS MANY COMPLAINTS OF THIS NATURE AND THE SAME PROBLEM EXISTS; THE DEALERS CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM; SO THEY CANNOT FIX IT. A MECHANIC AT THE SHOP SAID THAT KIA KNOWS THEY HAVE A PROBLEM; BUT DOES NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. THE PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN BACKING OUT OF A PARKING SPACE AND WHEN THE CAR IS DRIVING AT ABOUT 40 MPH. THE LURCH HAS OCCURRED AT STOP SIGNS AND CAUSES THE CAR TO JUMP AND IF I HAD NOT BEEN ALERT I WOULD HAVE HIT THE CAR IN FRONT OF ME. THE SAME PROBLEM OCCURS WHEN BACKING OUT OF A PARKING PLACE AND THE REAR VIEW IS BLOCKED BY THE VEHICLE AND IF A PERON OR VEHICLE IS IN THE BLIND SPOTS; INJURY COULD OCCUR. *TR
CAR JERKS UNCONTROLLABLY WHEN PROCEEDING FROM ANY STOPPED POSITION.. THE CAR JERKS CAUSING GREAT POTENTIAL FOR A FATAL ACCIDENT. IT ONLY HAPPENS ON HOTTER DAYS.. RIDICULOUS KIA DEALERSHIP IN THORNTON, CO WANTS ME TO ONLY FILL THE TANK UP HALF WAY TO AVOID THIS PROBLEM, THIS CAR IS UNDER FULL WARRANTY & WAS ONLY 3 MONTHS OF USE BEFORE FIRST REPORTED PROBLEM. PULLED OUT INTO A BUSY INTERSECTION - CAR CRAWLED - DID NOT RESPOND TO ACCELERATION - LURCHED QUICKLY INTO TRAFFIC ALMOST CAUSING AN ACCIDENT. DROVE FURTHER DOWN THE ROAD AT 40 MPH, CAR ACCELERATION DIED ALMOST COMPLETELY, SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. I PULLED OFF ROAD, CALLED MY LOCAL KIA DEALER FROM WHOM I BOUGHT THE CAR. THEY WERE NO LONGER HANDLING KIA, HAD TO HAVE CAR TOWED AN HOUR AWAY AND WAS TOLD THE THROTTLE WIRE ASSEMBLY WAS CLEANED OUT AND REPAIRED. THIS WAS IN JANUARY, 2008. FEBRUARY 2008 I TOOK CAR TO SHOP TO HAVE BRAKES CHECKED - TECH TOOK IT OUT FOR TEST DRIVE. WHEN HE CAME BACK HE ASKED IF IT HAD A PROBLEM WITH SEVERE HESITATION. I TOLD HIM IT WAS FIXED LAST MONTH (UNDER WARRANTY). HE SAID HE PULLED INTO BUSY TRAFFIC TWICE AND THE VEHICLE FAILED TO ACCELERATE, ALMOST CAUSING 2 ACCIDENTS. I DROVE THE CAR BACK TO WORK, ACCELERATION FAILED ONCE AGAIN AND CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND STAYED ON. GOING TO HAVE TO HAVE IT TOWED AN HOUR AWAY FOR THEM TO LOOK AT IT AGAIN - MEANWHILE I'M WITHOUT ANY FORM OF TRANSPORTATION ( CANNOT GET LOANER) ONCE IT'S FIXED I WILL HAVE TO PAY SOMEONE TO DRIVE ME AN HOUR AWAY TO PICK IT UP! THEY NEED TO FIGURE OUT THE PROBLEM - I HAVE SEEN NUMEROUS COMPLAINTS ON THE INTERNET ABOUT THIS. IT'S CAUSING ME TO BE PARANOID ABOUT EVEN DRIVING IT, NOT KNOWING WHEN IT MIGHT HAPPEN AGAIN! *TR
I HAVE AN '05 KIA AMANTI. THIS CAR HAS A "SUDDEN ACCELERATION" CAUSING THE CAR TO SPEED FORWARD WHEN APPLYING THE BRAKES. I HAVE BEEN IN TWO REAR-END COLLISIONS IN THE LAST YEAR AND HAVE NOT BEEN IN AN ACCIDENT IN OVER 30YRS PRIOR. I HAVE HAD THE CAR TAKEN TO SENTRY KIA TO BE REPAIRED BUT, THEY JUST SAY, THEY CANNOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM - SO THERE IS NO PROBLEM. I KNOW DIFFERENTLY. I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THIS CAR. THERE HAVE BEEN MANY COMPLAINTS ON THE KIA FORUM AND OTHER SITES ABOUT THIS PROBLEM WITH THE '05 KIA AMANTI - YET KIA WILL NOT DO ANYTHING FOR ME. THEY FORCE ME TO DRIVE THIS WEAPON ON WHEELS. ON NUMEROUS OCCASIONS SINCE I BOUGHT CAR IN 2006 ,THE CAR SUDDENLY SLOWS TO 10-15 MPH, YOU GET NO RESPONSE FROM THE GAS PEDAL, THEN SUDDENLY LURCHES FORWARD AT FULL THROTTLE. EVERY AMANTI OWNER I HAVE SPOKEN WITH HAS THIS ISSUE! A DRIVER COULD BE EASILY INVOLVED IN A FATAL INCIDENT WITH THIS ISSUE. THIS ALSO OCCURS UPON STARTUP WHEN PARKED. IF THERE IS A CAR IN FRONT OF YOU IN A PARKING LOT, YOU WOULD HIT IT. ONE OWNER SAID HE HAD THE CONTROL MODULE "FLASHED" AND IT SOLVED HIS PROBLEM. COULD WE PLEASE GET SOME ACTION ON THIS? KIA IS WELL AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. I TELL THE SERVICE ADVISOR ABOUT IT EVERY TIME I'M AT THE DEALER. I WILL FILE A GIANT LAWSUIT IF I'M INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT AND SURVIVE. REAR TIRES OF 05 KIA AMANTI WORD BALD WHILE FRONT TIRES SHOW LITTLE OR WEAR, 27000 MILES. HANKOOK TIRES OF RANCHO CUCAMONGA CALIF, & KIA BOTH REFUSE TO TAKE ANY RESPONSIBILITY FOR WHAT APPEARS TO BE DEFECTIVE TIRES. PHOTOS AVAILABLE. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 KIA AMANTI. THE AIR BAG LIGHT CONTINUOUSLY ILLUMINATES ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. THE CONTACT HAD THE VEHICLE REPAIRED FIVE TIMES, BUT THE DEALER STATED THAT NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. THE DEALER ADVISED HIM TO DISREGARD THE LIGHT BECAUSE THE AIR BAGS WERE STILL WORKING. THE PARTS WERE COVERED UNDER WARRANTY. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 17,522 AND CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 22,000. UPDATED 12/31/07 *BF UPDATED
SPEED CONTROL PROBLEM. CAR LURGES FORWARD ON TAKEOFF.
SHORTLY AFTER GETTING THE CAR, IT INTERMITTENTLY WOULD FAIL TO ACCELERATE WHEN THE ACCELERATOR WAS PUSHED. BY PUSHING IT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR IT SOMETIMES WOULD THEN ACCELERATE EXCESSIVELY, OR BY LETTING UP ON THE ACCELERATOR AND REAPPLYING IT A SIMILAR EVENT WOULD HAPPEN. SOMETIMES THE CAR JUST MUDDLES ALONG VERY SLOWLY IN TRAFFIC UNTIL ONE OF THE ABOVE ACTIONS IS TAKEN, AND SOMETIMES PUSHING TO THE FLOOR STILL DOES NOT MAKE IT ACCELERATE. THIS HAS OCCURRED IN TRAFFIC AT TIMES CAUSING AN UNSAFE EVENT DUE TO SURPRISE WHEN EXPECTING TO CLEAR TRAFFIC ETC. EARLY ON IT WAS RETURNED TO DEALER ON AT LEAST TWO OCCASIONS FOR LENGTHS OF SEVERAL DAYS EACH TIME AND WE ALSO INVOLVED COMPANY REPS, BUT THEY OFFERED NO SOLUTION BUT SAID IT SEEMED TO BE FINE. CAR CONTINUES TO ACT UP AND NOTICE THAT OTHERS HAVE COMPLAINED OF A SIMILAR EVENT ON A WEBSITE WE MONITOR. *TR
FOR @ 6 MONTHS THE CAR JERKS WHEN I AM DRIVING. WHEN I PRESS THE ACCELERATOR IT WILL DO 2-3 JERKS THAT ARE STRONG ENOUGH TO JERK YOU FORWARD IN YOUR SEAT. IT FEELS AS IF THE CAR HAS FORGOTTEN WHAT GEAR IT IS IN AND IT IS SEARCHING TO FIND IT. OR YOU COULD DESCRIBE IT AS THOUGH IT IS NOT GETTING FUEL WHERE IT IS NEEDED EVEN WHEN YOU HAVE HAD EVEN PRESSURE ON THE ACCELERATOR. THIS HAS MAINLY OCCURRED WHILE DOING ABOUT 40 MPH GOING UP AN INCLINE BUT IT HAS ALSO OCCURRED ON LEVEL DRIVING AREAS WHILE DOING AROUND 40 MPH. MOST RECENTLY THE CAR HAS BEEN JERKING IN TOP GEAR. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE DEALER 3 TIMES. JUST YESTERDAY I PICKED IT UP FROM THE DEALER WHO HAD IT FOR A WHOLE 7 DAYS!! THEY WERE ABLE TO RECREATE THE PROBLEM BUT CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHAT IT IS BECAUSE IT DOESN'T REGISTER ON THE OBC. THEY HAD ME DO A $450.00 MAINTENANCE ON IT TO SEE IF IT WOULD HELP AND OF COURSE IT DID NOT. THEY SAID THEY REPROGRAMMED IT BUT THAT DID NOT HELP EITHER. DUE TO THIS PROBLEM, I HAVE EITHER BEEN WITHOUT A VEHICLE FOR DAYS OR HAVE HAD TO RENT A VERY COSTLY RENTAL CAR FOR A WHOLE WEEK. THE DEALER CLAIMS THEY TOOK THE CAR TO THEIR RESIDENCE TO TEST DRIVE IT, (APPROX. 80 MILES) BUT WHEN PICKING THE CAR UP YESTERDAY THEY WERE RUDE ENOUGH NOT TO REPLENISH MY FUEL. WHEN I ASKED THEM ABOUT IT THEY SAID IT WAS NECESSARY TO DO THE ROAD TESTS. AS A CONSUMER WITH A CAR STILL UNDER WARRANTY THEY SHOULD HAVE REPLACED THE GAS AND PAY FOR MY CAR RENTAL. BUT THERE HAS BEEN NO HELP WITH THIS SITUATION AT ALL. NOW I AM SCARED TO DRIVE MY CAR AND I DEPEND ON IT FOR MY PROFESSION. *TR
SEVERAL TIMES, INCLUDING TODAY THE CAR HAS JUMPED FORWARD OR BACKWARD IN REVERSE WHEN PUTTING IT IN GEAR WITHOUT STEPPING ON THE ACCELERATOR. IT HAS OCCASIONALLY MOVED VERY SLOWLY AFTER BEING PUT INTO DRIVE AS IF THE TRANSMISSION WAS IN FOURTH GEAR. THEN WHEN PUSHING FURTHER ON THE GAS PEDAL TO GET IT TO MOVE IT WILL SUDDENLY JUMP INTO FIRST AND TAKE OFF. VISITS TO THE SERVICE AREA WERE FRUITLESS DUE TO THEIR NOT BEING ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE EVENT. THEREWAS APPARENTLY NOTHING STORED IN THE COMPUTER, YET IT KEPT HAPPENING TO US. IT WAS SEVERE ENOUGH TO CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. THERE WAS A PROBLEM WITH KIA'S DRIVE BY WIRE SYSTEM, AND IT SHOULD BE FIXED BEFORE SOMEONE WOULD BE INJURED. *AK
MY AMANTI WAS BARELY ROLLING AS I PULLED INTO A PARKING SPACE. HOWEVER, THE MOMENT I DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE CAR TOOK OFF LIKE A ROCKET! I LOOKED DOWN AT THE FLOOR TO BE SURE THAT I WAS STEPPING ON THE BRAKE PEDAL AND I WAS! WHEN I REALIZED THE CAR HAD ALREADY TAKEN DOWN A SIGN AND ITS POLE, I THOUGHT PERHAPS THE BRAKES HAD FAILED, SO I STEPPED ON THE BRAKE PEDAL EVEN HARDER BUT THE CAR CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE UNTIL IT WAS OUT OF CONTROL AND TAKING ME THROUGH A MASS OF POMPOUS GRASS AND OUT THE OTHER SIDE INTO AN EMPTY STRIP OF LAND. AFTER GOING THROUGH THE POMPOUS GRASS, THE CAR SPUN TO THE LEFT TOWARDS THE TREE LINED PARKING STRIP. I PANICKED NOT KNOWING WHERE THE CAR WAS GOING TO TAKE ME NEXT OR HOW I COULD STOP IT. SUDDENLY IT OCCURRED TO ME THAT PERHAPS IF I COULD TURN THE KEY OFF, IT WOULD SHUT THE ENGINE DOWN. I PRAYED THAT IT WOULD WORK AND THANK GOD IT DID. AS SOON AS THE CAR CAME TO A STOP I GOT OUT OF THE CAR, SHAKING AND CRYING. OTHER THAN BEING TOWED FOR DIAGNOSIS, THE CAR HAS NOT BEEN DRIVEN SINCE. CEO OF KIA IN KOREA DID NOT ACKNOWLEDGE LETTERS, MANUFACTURER IN US DOES NOT ACKNOWLEDGE PROBLEM, AND DEALER WILL DO NOTHING! WE ARE PAYING FOR THIS CAR AND ARE UNABLE TO DRIVE IT! IT'S UNSAFE! WE NOW HAVE IT IN LEGAL PROCESS. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED UPON INITIAL ACCELERATION, THE ENGINE STALLED AND OPERATED AT A REDUCED SPEED FOLLOWED BY SUDDEN ACCELERATION WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY A DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. AFTERWARDS, THE PROBLEM PERSISTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED. *AK
SOON AFTER START UP, I PULLED OUT OF MY DRIVE WAY AND PROCEEDED TO TURN ONTO THE STREET AND I HAD NO POWER FOR ABOUT 2 SECONDS, THEN IT GOES FULL OUT. THIS HAS HAPPENED 8 OR 9 TIMES. I HAVE BEEN VERY DISAPPOINTED WITH THE DEALER. THEY ARE CLUELESS. I HAVE BEEN BACK 6 TIMES FOR AN AIRBAG LIGHT ON THE DASH AND IT IS STILL ON. HEADLIGHT WENT OUT AND HAD TO GO BACK 3 TIMES FOR THAT. *JB
FEDERAL TIRE SEPARATED ON 2 OF MY TIRES, AND A RIPPLE ON 3RD TIRE. *NM
MY 2005 KIA AMANTI HAS AN INTERMITTENT PROBLEM WITH THE ACCELERATOR, AFTER BACKING UP, WHEN THE CAR IS PUT INTO DRIVE AND THE GAS PEDAL DEPRESSED, NOTHING HAPPENS. THE CAR WILL NOT ACCELERATE, EVEN WHEN THE PEDAL IS DEPRESSED ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR. THE ENGINE DOES NOT REV; THE CAR JUST IDLES AND WON'T ACCELERATE. AT OTHER TIMES, THE SLIGHTEST TOUCH OF THE GAS PEDAL CAN CAUSE THE CAR TO LURCH FORWARD BRIEFLY. I HAVE TAKEN IT TO THE KIA DEALERSHIP THREE TIMES. THEY SAY THEY HAVE NEVER HEARD OF THIS PROBLEM, ALTHOUGH IF I GOOGLE "AMANTI ACCELERATOR PROBLEMS" I FIND DOZENS OF COMPLAINTS ABOUT THIS. MY DEALER INSISTS THAT UNTIL THEY CAN DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM AT THE DEALERSHIP THERE IS NOTHING THAT CAN BE DONE. I AM CONCERNED THAT THIS MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT AND WOULD LIKE TO GET THIS FIXED, IF I ONLY KNEW HOW. *JB
CLEAR COAT ON MY KIA AMANTI IS PEELING OFF. THIS CLEAR COAT PROBLEM FIRST STARTED ON MY FRONT BUMPER AND AFTER A LONG INSPECTION OF THE ENTIRE CAR MY CLEAR COAT IS COMING OFF OF NEARLY 200 LITTLE DIFFERENT SPOTS. I HAVE WRITTEN COMPLAINTS TO KIA AMERICA AND HAVE SUBMITTED COMPLAINTS ONLINE AND I HAVE NEVER, NEVER HEARD ANYTHING BACK. I TOOK MY KIA AMANTI TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP AND THEIR EXPLANATION WAS IT WAS BIRD POOP. I SERIOUSLY DOUBT AND KIA CAN NOT PROVE THAT WHAT IS HAPPENING TO MY VEHICLE IS THE RESULT OF BIRD POOP. I TRIED TO SHOW THE MANAGER AT MY LOCAL KIA DEALERSHIP THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM WITH THE BRAND NEW 2006 KIA AMANTIS THAT HAVE NO MILES ON THEM AND HIS REPLY WAS, I AM SURE THAT ALL HAPPENED WHEN THEY WERE SHIP HERE BUT HE NEVER WOULD LET ME SHOW HIM. *NM

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THE VEHICLE WOULD INTERMITTENTLY DECELERATE MOMENTARILY WHILE DRIVING AT ANY SPEED. DURING THE FAILURES A CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WOULD ILLUMINATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHERE THE THROTTLE BODY ASSEMBLY WAS REPLACED ON THREE OCCASIONS. THE FAILURE CONTINUED TO OCCUR. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,313 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 120,000.
ON WINDOW STICKER STATES CAR SHOULD AVERAGE 17 MILES PER GALLON CITY, AND 25 MILES PER GALLON ON HIGHWAY. OVER A NINE MONTH TEST WHICH I KEPT A RECORD OF DATE, TOTAL MILES ON CAR, MILES DRIVEN, TOTAL GAS TO REFILL TANK, AND MILES PER GALLON THE BEST MILEAGE WE GOT WAS 14.51 CITY. THE BEST OVERALL MILEAGE WAS 17.55 MILES AND THAT WAS A TRIP TO THE COAST. WE TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND HE CLAIMS THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE ENGINE. THIS IS MY WIFE'S CAR AND WE DO NOT DRIVE IT THAT MUCH BECAUSE OF THE PRICE OF GAS. WE WERE MISLED BY THE WINDOW STICKER AND WE FEEL THAT THE NHTSA SHOULD MAKE THE MANUFACTURER STATE THE CORRECT FINDINGS ON MILEAGE FOR THIS CAR. I AM CAUGHT BETWEEN A HARD PLACE AND A ROCK FOR MY WIFE LIKES THE CAR AND I FEEL IT IS A PIECE OF CRAP. *JB
THE VEHICLE HAS HAD SPORADIC PROBLEMS WITH 'JACK RABBITING', WHEN PRESSING THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL. WITH A LIGHT TOUCH TO THE GAS PEDAL, THE JARS LITERALLY JUMPS FORWARD. IN EACH CASE, IT TAKES ABOUT THREE TOUCHES TO THE GAS PEDAL, TO GET TO 'NORMAL DRIVING. IT IS A FAST ACCELERATION, WHICH CAUSES THE TIRES TO 'SCREECH' SOMETIMES AND THE CAR TO JUMP FORWARD. THE SECOND ITEM THAT STARTED HAPPENING IS THAT THE CAR APPEARED TO BE STUCK IN FIRST AND WOULD NOT SHIFT. THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE. THIS HAS NOW CAUSED ME TO ALSO GET RUN OVER TWICE, DUE TO NOT BEING ABLE TO ACCELERATE. ANOTHER PROBLEM APPEARED YESTERDAY. I APPLIED THE BRAKE AND THE CAR WOULD NOT IMMEDIATELY STOP. THE ENGINE REVVED UP, NOT FAST, BUT IT WAS ENOUGH TO KEEP THE CAR MOVING FOR A SHORT DISTANCE, BEFORE IT STOPPED. IT SCARED THE HELL OUT OF ME. I HAVE NEVER EXPERIENCED SOMETHING LIKE THAT WITH A VEHICLE. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO APPLY PRESSURE TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL THE VEHICLE HESITATED. THIS OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TAKEN TO THE DEALERSHIP THREE TIMES FOR INSPECTION. THEY WERE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALERTED.
BOUGHT A 2005 KIA AMANTI IN ATHENS, GEORGIA ON 02/22/2006. TEST DROVE THREE DIFFERENT CARS. WHEN I APPLIED THE BRAKES THE WHOLE CAR WOULD VIBRATE. OVER THE NEXT WEEK AFTER I BOUGHT THE CAR IT GOT WORSE. TOOK IT BACK TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAD TO REPLACE ALL FOUR ROTORS. WAS TOLD THAT THEY BENT BECAUSE THE CAR WAS SITTING ON THE LOT FOR AN EXTENDED PERIOD OF TIME. THATS A FIRST! IT SEEMS ALL AMANTIS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. *NM
DEALER REPLACED, THE KNUCKLE, CONTROL ARM, AND RACK IN PINION, EVERY 15,000 TO 20,000 MILES THE SAME SOUND COMES BACK. THE SOUND IS BACK AGAIN, AND GETTING LOUDER AND LOUDER, SOUNDS LIKE THE FRONT END IS COMING APART. STILL HAVE PROBLEMS. KIA REFUSED TO BUY CAR BACK. *TR
I NEVER KNOW WHEN MY CAR WILL START JERKING. THE CAR WILL RUN FINE THEN OUT OF THE BLUE WHEN I AM BACKING UP THE CAR WILL START JERKING. I PUT IT IN DRIVE AND PRESS ALL THE WAY ON THE GAS -BUT THERE IS NO POWER. I PRESS AGAIN AND THE CAR WILL START JERKING . I HAVE BROUGHT IT BACK TO THE DEALER THREE TIMES,EVEN LEFT IT THERE FOR 3 DAYS BUT THEY ARE UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. THIS PROBLEM HAS HAPPENED MORE THAN TWO DOZEN TIMES. THERE IS NO WARNING WHEN IT WILL HAPPEN. I ALMOST HIT A CAR TWICE WHEN I WAS BACKING UP- YOU ARE POWERLESS AND YOU CAN NOT CONTROL THE JERKING. I PULLED OUT IN TRAFFIC AND THE CAR BEHIND ALMOST HIT ME BECAUSE THE CAR WOULD NOT GO. I SURE HEARD HIS HORN BLASTING AT ME. THERE IS ALSO A BLUE FLASH OF LIGHT ON THE DASHBOARD WHEN DRIVING AT NIGHT. IT IS A QUICK FLASH-THEN IT IS GONE. I HAVE ALSO BROUGHT THE CAR TO THE DEALER ABOUT THIS PROBLEM - THEY CAN'T DUPLICATE IT. SOMETHING IS DRASTICALLY WRONG. I WROTE TO KIA- BUT DID NOT RECEIVE AN ANSWER. *JB
THE NEWER HIGH INTENSITY HEADLIGHTS SHOULD BE DONE AWAY WITH! IN ORDER TO CONTINUE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT NIGHT WHEN A VEHICLE EQUIPPED WITH THOSE BRIGHT HEADLIGHTS IS APPROACHING IN ANY LANE, I MUST PUT MY LEFT HAND & ARM UP TO SHIELD MY EYES. I FIND THOSE LIGHTS TO BE BLINDING AS SOON AS THAT CAR COMES INTO VIEW, EVEN A MILE OR MORE DOWN THE ROAD. WHAT KIND OF ADVANTAGE DOES IT GIVE THAT OTHER DRIVER TO SEE AN EXTRA 50 YARDS DOWN THE ROAD, IF IT CAUSES SOMEONE TO HAVE AN ACCIDENT ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE ROAD??! THE HID LIGHTS ARE DANGEROUS TO OTHER DRIVERS! EVEN WITH MY REARVIEW MIRROR DEFLECTED FOR GLARE, THOSE LIGHTS ARE FAR TOO BRIGHT & WHEN A CAR WITH HID'S IS SITTING ON MY 'SHOULDER', I HAVE TO TURN BOTH MY REARVIEW MIRROR & SIDE MIRRORS DOWN SO I CAN CONTINUE TO DRIVE. AND, YES, I SLOW DOWN & LET THEM GO PAST ME, BUT JUST WANT TO LET YOU KNOW MY OPINION & REQUEST THAT HID'S SHOULD BE HID FOR GOOD, IN THE TRASH! *NM

ON FOUR OCCASIONS WHEN GOING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE.....A HESITATION TOOK PLACE AND THE CAR WOULD NOT ACCELERATE UNTIL THE ACCELERATOR IS PUSHED ALL THE WAY DOWN....THEN THE CAR WOULD ACCELERATE AT TOP SPEED. IF THIS EVER HAPPENED IN TRAFFIC COULD CAUSE INJURY OR DEATH. MENTIONED THIS SITUATION TO THE DEALER AND NOTHING CAN BE DOWN UNLESS THE "SO CALLED" HESITATION HAPPENED AT THE TIME WHEN IT WAS IN THE SHOP. *NM
DRIVING ON INTERSTATE IN MY 2005 KIA AMANTI AND THE CAR ACCELERATED ON IT'S OWN. CAR SPEED INCREASED AND THEN JUST STOPPED. WHEN I RESTARTED THE CAR, IT STARTED BUT WHEN PLACED IN DRIVE CAR WAS COMPLETELY IMMOBILE. BROUGHT IT IN TO KIA OF KENNER AND WAS TOLD THAT THE THROTTLE NEEDED TO BE CLEANED. PROBLEM FIXED, SO I THOUGHT...NEXT INCIDENT WAS DRIVING AND COMPLETELY LOST POWER IN THE MIDDLE OF A BUSY INTERSECTION. GOT THE CAR TOWED TO KIA OF KENNER THE SAID THAT COMPUTER MODULE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED..NOT THIS PROBLEM HAS NOT BEEN RESOLVED AS OF YET.. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 KIA AMANTI. THE CONTACT STATED THE SIDE VIEW MIRRORS ON THE VEHICLE WOULD INADVERTANTLY MOVE AFTER THEY HAD BEEN SET IN PLACE WHEN THE VEHICLE WAS STOPPED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THE FAILURE OCCURRED WHILE DRIVING AT VARIOUS SPEEDS. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON SEVERAL OCCASSIONS WHERE THE MIRRORS WOULD BE RESET, BUT THE FAILURE CONTINUED. THE CONTACT EXPRESSED CONCERN OVER THIS FAILURE BECAUSE IT WAS A REPEATED FAILURE SINCE THE PURCHASE OF THE VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 600 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 46,000.
