There are 20 owner-reported electrical system complaints for the 2025 Kia EV6in NHTSA's database. These are unverified consumer reports and may not reflect confirmed defects.
While driving on a sunny day on a 35mph road, my dashboard reported “Check Electrical Vehicle System”. A red battery symbol appeared and my cruise control disengaged with a message “requirements not met”. When I got home I read my 12 volt battery monitor that reported the battery was 11.99v and only had a 60% state of charge. Just prior to this short drive from home, my battery was 12.77v and had a 100% state of charge. I put in my ODB reader and it provided two error codes: P1A9096 and P1A961C. The first error code is the result of an ICCU failure in its DC to DC circuit (the one that charges the 12V battery from traction battery). Using a battery charger, I was able to fully recharge the 12volt battery. My monitor says that it’s healthy with 100% state of charge. Turning the car back on resulted in a rapid drain of the battery from 100% to 93% in just five minutes while parked. The electrical system failure warning lights are still lit. I’m having my car towed for repair. If this failure had occurred more than 10 minutes from my home, I would’ve been stranded.
I START VEHICLE AND TRY TO PUT TRANSMISSION TO DRIVE ITS NOT WORKING AFTER I TRY TO PUT VEHICLE TO REVERSE TRANSMISSION ITS NOT WORKING
ICCU failure.
ICCU and fuse failure when it was being moved out from the garage. Got a “Check electrical system” notification when I turned it on following a level 2 charge the night before. It was with the dealer for exactly one month before I was able to pick it back up.
Car has an NACS charger port, and is advertised by KIA as compatible with Tesla Superchargers and home chargers. The car will not charge at a supercharger nor at home using a Tesla charge cord that works with a Tesla Model 3.
The ICCU unit failed and the car first slowed and then stopped. I was able to pull off the road at an intersection. A tow truck had to jump charge the battery to allow the car to be shifted into neutral in order to pull it onto the tow truck.
ICCU failure
I was reversing my car in the parking lot and I heard a pop. Immediately I had a check electrical system warning. Preceding this the car was doing things which may have implied issues with the 12 V battery. Occasionally walking up to the car would not automatically open the car. Or other times, touching the driver handle did not unlock the car. The car is now at the dealership. They have confirmed failure of the HV fuse, ICCU failure, which also blew the 12 v battery. They have ordered the parts but it is currently on back order. The car could drive but after looking up this issue if the 12 v battery had drained it would have been inoperable.
ICCU failure at 3889 miles not charging and 12v battery failure
Failure to charge properly on both alternating current and direct current platforms. Trips electrical breakers at residence while charging at home on AC current. The vehicle will only DC fast charge for a few minutes before charge session is prematurely terminated. I have been told by the KIA that it is a failure in the integrated charge control unit (ICCU). They told me there were 47 current problems right now in the state of Tennessee. I have not been issued a recall at this time. The logistics for getting a new ICCU could 2 weeks or greater. This problem could be catastrophic on long road trips.
I charged overnight at work. When leaving I heard a loud pop and the check EV system light came one. The vehicle would no longer drive over 40mph. I made it a mile and it dropped to 20mph. The dealership has had my car for over a week. From research it seems to be the ICCU as many others have had problems with.
11/28/25 on freeway car lost power and would only go 25mph and warning light came on. After short distance full power came back. 12/14/25 earliest appt with dealer and could not find problem. 01/09/26 Lost power and took car to dealer. Dealer said bad battery and they replaced battery. 1/20/25 lost power again and limped to dealer. Dealer found bad ICCU. They are now waiting for new ICCU to replace. When your driving 55 mps on freeway and suddenly drop to 25mph this is dangerous. The apx date required below is when I have taken the car and dealer confirmed ICCU problem not the original problem date of 11/28/25.
prior case 11708370 filed 1/2/2026 spoke with [XXX] 1/22/2026. Friday 2/6/2026 Shorkey Kia Wexford calls and tells me my EV6 is fixed I can pick it up. I go into the Kia App and still have the same 3 codes as before; P056216 VCU, C160404 FR_Radar, and C28B186 ADAS_DRV. I tell them later that day when I had time to open the app to make sure the codes were corrected, called them back and said until these codes are cleared, my vehicle is not fixed. Tuesday 2/10/2026 I get a called from same person at Shorkey Kia in Wexford, telling me my vehicle is fixed, I can pick up my vehicle, same person her name is Maggie. I told Maggie to hold while I bring up the Kia app, I still see the same 3 codes: P056216, C160404, C28B186. I told her the codes are still active, and as long as these codes are present, the car isn’t fixed. She wouldn’t tell me what was done to the car, so I don’t know if the ICCU was replaced or not. However from browsing the EV6 Owners USA group, [XXX] had the same issue, and his car was fixed per whatever Kia place that is around him. He still has the P056216 alert and was told it will go away after whatever period of time. This is what the Kia repair place told him. initial filed #11708370 (1/2/2026) 2nd filed #11717025 (2/10/26) Yesterday afternoon (2/10/26), I was told by Jim Shorkey Kia Wexford PA that no error codes are on the EV6, it is ready for pick up. Before I received this call, there was a software update done on the EV6 (see service records) I attached 2 photos of the software update as well. ICCU ASSY was replaced, etc. was told per Shorkey Kia since there are no issues with my EV6, as of Friday when they initially called to say my vehicle was ready for pick up, Kia considers my problem resolved. I know I’ll be paying for the car rental for X number of days, even though the EV6 did not get the software update until this past Tuesday, yesterday 2/10/26, which cleared the 3 codes that were still showing on the Kia app earlier morning yesterday, screenshot of that attached as well. I have my car, no codes visible now.
initially filed XXX (1/2/2026) 2nd (additional info) filed XXX (2/10/2026 3rd (3 page service report) XXX (2/11/2026) Vehicle is registered to Christopher Rojik, however it is my car that I drive, etc. today I am filing this for you folks that since I filed the complaint with Kia Corp. and sent them the service report, etc. Today, 2/19/2026 I received a formal Settlement Agreement and General Release to sign and accept. I am not signing it, as well as it fully releases Kia from any future issues, etc. outside of the warranty and whatever other details it claims. This will or should be the last for me to file. I had no idea they send me this kind of offer. As it is listed specifically as a "GOODWILL GESTURE" and they are not accepting fault or something like that. I attached inidividual pages, hopefully I can upload them as pdfs, we will see. If not I'll take quick pics and attach. thanks INFORMATION REDACTED PURSUANT TO THE FREEDOM OF INFORMATION ACT (FOIA), 5 U.S.C. 552(B)(6)
Started my car while I was out and heard a pop sound. Warning message appeared saying "check electrical vehicle system". I was able to drive but when getting onto the freeway, I started to lose acceleration and go into limp mode. I pulled over on the freeway and had to get car towed to dealership. Dealership service center confirmed that my ICCU part failed. The vehicle to my knowledge hasn't been viewed by anyone other than the dealership.
I was driving on the highway when I heard a pop like a loud fuse sound from the back seat area. Suddenly the car dropped 15 mph from 70 mph to 55 mph and the battery and electrical system warning lights came on and the vehicle said check electrical system. I was able to continue with my hazard lights on to exit the highway, at which point the max speed of the vehicle dropped to 45 mph. It would not go faster no matter how hard I pushed the gas pedal. I was able to pull over to a gas station and park in a spot but the vehicle had to be towed. When the tow truck arrived, the vehicle also flashed with the 12V battery low warning. It was diagnosed as a failed ICCU, which rapidly drained the 12V battery. The car is only 4 months old with about 7,300 miles. This is a serious safety concern, especially with the sudden failure and loss of power. I’m lucky I wasn’t hit and that I was able to get off the road before it totally died.
Driving down local (residential) roads, the ICCU died; towed to dealership 12/3/2025. All 12 volt electrical was inoperable. So no hazard lights, no shift to neutral, no locking the doors. It was towed to the dealer. ICCU is now being ordered. The Master Warning light and 12V battery warning light illuminated. I was fortunate to be able to park in a parking lot just before all electrical died. An Internet search shows that this is a known issue; and, even after the replacement the situation can happen again. Took delivery 6/28/25. So, not even 6 months old.
On 2025-11-12, my car got BMS error P1B9700. On 2025-11-13, I took the car to local Kia dealer. The error is for battery temperature sensor. After 1 week, thst sensor have not been replaced nor any other numerous minor electrical defects were fixed. My car was just parked in dealer lot the whole time. No communication from Kia or dealer how to fix this potentionly dangerous battery problem.
I was driving over to walk my friends dog and I was pulling into the overflow parking area and my car just speed up and it would not stop. I went up a curb and I hit a small tree went down another curb crossed the street and then up another curb and the break would not stop the car. I finally just cut the car off
