I HAVE BEEN HAVING REPEATED ISSUES FOLLOWING THE KIA THETA II ENGINE RECALL REPLACEMENT (SC147) SINCE JUNE 2018. MY CAR IS PRACTICALLY NEW WITH 53K +/- MILES, PURCHASED NEW, AND HAD ALL THE RECOMMENDED AND REQUIRED MAINTENANCE PERFORMED. I TOOK MY CAR TO RICK CASE KIA (DEALER CODE:GA083) TO HAVE MY ENGINE REPLACED MIDSUMMER 2018. SINCE THEN I HAVE BEEN EXPERIENCING PERSISTENT CHECK ENGINE LIGHT (CEL) ISSUES FOR THE SAME ENGINE DIAGNOSTIC CODE(P2191). EACH TIME I TAKE MY CAR TO THE DEALER FOR RESOLUTION, TECHNICIANS GIVE ME DIFFERENT REASONS FOR WHAT THEY "THINK" COULD BE THE ROOT ISSUE. THUS FAR, I HAVE BEEN TOLD THE ISSUE WAS DUE TO BAD GAS, AN O2 SENSOR GONE BAD, A LEAK, HISTORY CODE FROM ANOTHER DEALER NOT CLEARING THE RECALL, AND NOW A FUEL KIT WILL BE REPLACED. IT IS MY ASSUMPTION THAT IF KIA TECHNICIANS TRULY KNEW WHAT THE ISSUE WAS I WOULD NOT HAVE SO MANY REPEATED TRIPS FOR THE SAME ISSUE. TO THIS DATE(DECEMBER 14TH 2018) THEY STILL HAVE NOT PROVIDED A CLEAR RESOLUTION. IN LIGHT OF RECENT EVENTS SURROUNDING KIA VEHICLES, SPECIFICALLY OPTIMA, CATCHING ON FIRE AND ENGINES RANDOMLY BLOWING UP THIS IS SOMETHING THAT NEEDS AN IMMEDIATE RESOLUTION.IT IMPACTS MY SAFETY AS THE VEHICLE OWNER AND THOSE DRIVING AROUND ME. I HAVE EXPRESSED HOW UNCOMFORTABLE I AM DRIVING THIS CAR IN THE CURRENT STATE (WITH THE ENGINE LIGHT ON) AND MY CONCERNS ARE BEING DISMISSED. I AM TOLD THAT IT IS NOT A DRIVABILITY ISSUE AND I CAN DRIVE IT AWAY WITH THE LIGHT ON. IT SHOULD BE NO SURPRISE WHY THAT IS NOT A COMFORTING DIAGNOSIS AS I HAVE BEEN BACK ABOUT 6-7 TIMES NOW. I AM CURRENTLY MAKING ATTEMPTS TO ENGAGE/ESCALATE THIS WITH THE KIA CORPORATE OFFICE. IN AN ATTEMPT TO BE PROACTIVE I AM SEEKING HELP!
MY PROBLEM HAS OCCURRED 5 SEPARATE TIMES. MY CAR WON'T CRANK AFTER SITTING ANYWHERE FROM 2 MINUTES TO ALL NIGHT. I STOP AND PARK MY CAR, PUT GEAR IN PARK AND PRESS THE BUTTON TO STOP THE ENGINE. WHEN I TRY TO GET BACK IN IF MY DOOR IS LOCKED, SOMETIMES I CAN'T GET IN WITH MY KEY FOB. I HAVE TO OPEN THE HOOD, CHARGE THE BATTERY AND THEN THE KEY FOB WORKS. IF MY CAR IS NOT LOCKED, I GET IN AND NO LIGHTS COME ON, PRESSING THE START ENGINE BUTTON DOES ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. I CANNOT OPERATE ANY PART OF THE CAR, TRUNK, LIGHTS, SEATS, WINDOWS, IT IS ALL DEAD. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY BATTERY. WHY IS THIS NOW HAPPENING? I HAVE AROUND 42,000 MILES AND I HAVE A KIA OPTIMA 2013 WITH ALL BELLS AND WHISTLES. I LOVE MY CAR BUT AS A WIDOW, I DON'T WANT TO GET STRANDED SOMEWHERE WITH A DEAD BATTERY / ENGINE. WHAT COULD POSSIBLY BE THE PROBLEM. I HAVE BEEN READING THAT A LOT OF OTHER OWNERS ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEMS. WHAT DO WE NEED TO DO? THE DEALERSHIPS JUST CHARGE EXORBITANT AMOUNTS OF MONEY AND THE PROBLEMS STILL ARE FIXED. SHOULD THERE NOT BE A RECALL ON PROBLEM, ESPECIALLY SINCE IT IS AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE?
THERE IS A POPPING NOISE COMING FROM STEERING COLUMN. HAD TIE RODS INSPECTED AND ARE FINE. NOISE IS COMING FROM INSIDE THE STEERING COLUMN. IT POPS WHILE MOVING OR STATIONARY.. IT POPS EVERY TIME YOUR CHANGE DIRECTION. NOISE RADIATES FROM INSIDE DASHBOARD. CHECKED U JOINTS AND THEY ARE TIGHT.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 KIA OPTIMA. THE CONTACT RECEIVED NOTIFICATION OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 18V363000 (AIR BAGS). THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE AIR BAG WARNING INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR THE RECALL REPAIR. THE CONTACT CALLED CRAIN KIA OF SHERWOOD (5830 WARDEN RD, SHERWOOD, AR 72120, (501) 436-4852 23502) AND WAS INFORMED THAT THE RECALL REPAIR WAS PREVIOUSLY COMPLETED ON THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 12843689. THE CONTACT WAS ALSO PROVIDED A LOANER VEHICLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 124,000. PARTS DISTRIBUTION DISCONNECT.
I bought my pearl Kia Optima in 2013 and the paint started chipping in 2018 or so. It started on the side by the windows, then my hood, then it went with the top portion of the vehicle (now rusty) then it began in the trunk area. It gets worse when the weather changes to cold temperatures or rain.
My paint stated chipping ang peeling about 3 years ago, I did not think much of it until I saw several people who also have pearl snow white paint having the same issues. I ordered touch up paint and a clear coat to try and stop it in the areas that it is peeling. I have had someone rear end me but this is not where the issues with the paint are. It is on my hood, doors, sides etc. I have always parked in a garage or covered parking and have no hail damage etc
Exterior Paint Pearl White Kia. Started with small specks all over the entire car around 2018/2019. Last week inches came off with out me noticing since I washed my car three weeks ago. Peeling very fast only has 56,000 miles on it. “Dealer included Paint protection” Have only just begun my research. I have all my purchasing paper work and Maintenace. Bubbling indicates Latent defect, online everyone is starting to post paint problems with the same year. I have paint tearing under my trunk hood. The whole thing needs to be replaced. For having only 56,000 miles on my car it should not have this damage nor should I feel embarrassed about my car. I was not told if and when anything expired before 10years. I have prof of interior and exterior paint protected added and have it in hand.
THE STEERING WHEEL IS SHAKING MAKING NOISES WHEN OPERATING.
THE ENGINE ON MY VEHICLE IS UNDER A RECALL, HOWEVER, I HAVE YET TO RECEIVE A LETTER FROM KIA STATING WHEN I CAN TAKE MY CAR TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP FOR ENGINE REPLACEMENT. I AM THE ONLY OWNER OF THIS CAR, AND HAVE LIVED AT THE SAME ADDRESS DURING THIS TIME. I CURRENTLY HAVE OVER 76,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE, AND CONCERNED MY GOOD LUCK COULD RUN OUT. ANY PRESSURE YOU CAN APPLY TO GET THIS RESOLVED WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THANK YOU.

A POLICE REPORT AND A FIRE REPORT WERE NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER OR INDEPENDENT MECHANIC FOR DIAGNOSTIC TESTING. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A TOW LOT AND DEEMED A TOTAL LOSS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000.
BACK UP CAMERA STOPPED WORKING THE SCREEN IS BLACK. IT STARTED WHEN IT RAINS IT WOULDN'T WORK THEN WHEN IT GOT SUNNY IT WOULD COME BACK ON. BUT NOW IT'S NOT WORKING AT ALL
WE WERE DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY AT 80 MILES AN HOUR AND THE ENGINE DIED. AFTER BEING TOWED TO A DEALER, COME TO FIND OUT THERE WAS AN ENGINE RECALL, THAT THE DEALER (CORWIN FORD, NAMPA IDAHO) WE BOUGHT IT FROM WAS NOTIFIED OF 6 MONTHS BEFORE WE PURCHASED THE CAR AND WAS NEVER INFORMED OF. WE COULD HAVE BEEN SERIOUSLY INJURED IF IT HADN'T BEEN FOR MY BOYFRIEND DRIVING AND ABLE TO GET US OFF THE FREEWAY SAFELY.
CAR LOSSES POWER SUDDENLY AND LURCHES. THIS HAS HAPPEND WHEN CAR IS CRUISING AT HIGHWAY SPEEDS OR WHEN STARTED, STATIONARY. ONCE THAT HAPPENS CAR MAY HAVE TO BE RESTARTED TO WORK AGAIN. SOMETIMES THAT WORKS, SOMETIMES IT DOES NOT. WHEN IT PERSISTS FOR A WHILE, MAXIMUM SPEED IS ABOUT 5 MPH IF STARTED FROM A STOP. ENGINE WARNING LIGHT COMES ON AND THE CODE P2118 (THROTTLE ACTUATOR MOTOR CURRENT RANGE) IS SHOWN BY AN OBD. THE PROBLEM HAS OCURRED BEFORE. DEALER INITIALLY CHANGED THROTTLE BUT PROBLEM RECURRED. THE ISSUE WAS EVENTUALLY TRACKED TO A FAULTY ENGINE CABLE HARNESS. THE WHOLE ENGINE HARNESS HAD TO BE REPLACED. HOWEVER, PROBLEM IS OCURRING AGAIN A YEAR LATER.
ISSUES WITH THE ENGINE- THETA II ENGINE SINCE 2015 (PREVIOUS OWNER LIZ REPORTED). I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE MARCH 2018 AND SENT IT IN KIA A MONTH LATER. LOCAL DEALERSHIP TOLD ME THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED BUT MY EXTENDED WARRANTY I PURCHASED DIDN'T APPROVE IT BECAUSE IT WAS A PREVIOUS PROBLEM (2015 ) OVAL DEALERSHIP TOLD ME ENGINE IS CONSUMING OIL AND THEY DO NOT KNOW WHERE THE OIL IS GOING. IT BLOWING SMOKE AND NOT DRIVABLE. THE CAR HAS BEEN IN THE SHOP (ANCIRA KIA) SINCE JANUARY AND KIA CORPORATE HAS BEEN PAYING MY RENTAL.

DRIVING ON HIGHWAY ENGINE COOLING SYSTEM FAILED, BLOWING THE HEAD GASKET, 66,000
EVAPORATIVE GAS FUMES INSIDE AND SMELLS LIKE SOMETHING IS BURNING
TAKATA INFLATORS READ ON WEBISTE;HOWEVER, GOT IN A WRECK ON 4/11/18 CAR TOTALLED GOT HIT IN FRONT END AND NO AIRBAGS DEPLOYED IN THE ENTIRE CAR, I HIT STEERING WHEEL AND HAD TO GO TO THE ER. ALSO, IN AUGUST OF LAST YEAR THE CAR HAD INTERNAL ENGINE FAILURE AND PUT NEW ENGINE IN MY CAR. HAD NOTHING BUT COMPLAINTS ON THIS CAR. I EMAILED KIA ON THE AIR BAGS AND NO ONE HAS GOT BACK IN TOUCH WITH ME.
Chipped paint around my windshield and other areas of the car, such as the trunk and various other areas of the vehicle
MY AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON AND MY HORN I BLOWING FOR UP TO 45 MINUTES RANDOMLY AT ANYTIME; DRIVING OR STATIONARY. MY CAR IS UNSAFE. I HAD MY CAR DIAGNOSE AT COBB COUNTY KIA IN KENNESAW, GA 30144 AND THE SERVICE MANAGER, JOE TOLD ME THAT THE ISSUE WAS THE CLOCK SPRING WHICH KIA HAS RECALLED ON SEVERAL OTHER MODELS. THE CAR IS UNSAFE; THE AIRBAG DOES NOT WORK AT ALL. THE DEALERSHIP WANTS $600.00 FOR A SAFETY ISSUE.
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR ON THE EXPRESSWAY AND HEARD A LOUD BOOM, IT SOUNDED LIKE AN EXPLOSION OR AS IF SOMEONE WAS SHOOTING. SCARED THE CRAP OUT OF ME. I THEN HEARD AND FELT WIND COMING INTO MY KIA. I PULLED OVER AND MY FRONT ROOF OF MY PANORAMIC SUNROOF HAD A BIG HOLE IN IT AS IF A METEOR HAD FELL OUT OF THE SKY ON IT. . I CONTACTED MY LOCAL DEALERSHIP NO HELP, I CONTACTED KIA CONSUMER AFFAIRS...NO HELP OR RECALLS. I FILED A CLAIM WITH MY INSURANCE COMPANY TO HAVE MY ROOF REPAIRED.

TAKATA RECALL, HAVE SUPER LOUD RATTLING NOISE IN THE MOTOR AT FIRST START UP AND CONTINUES THE ENTIRE TIME ITS RUNNING. KIA SUNTRUP CLAIMS ITS "NOT LOUD ENOUGH "AND WHEN I ASKED WHAT THE LEVEL OF NOISE MINE IS CURRENTLY AND WHAT THE STANDARD FOR FIXING IS, THEY HAD NO CLUE! COME ON, CAR HAS 47,000 MILES ON IT AND HAS DONE THIS LOUD NOISE FOR THE LAST 25,000. KIA NEEDS TO STAND BEHIND THEIR VECHILES
I WAS NEVER NOTIFIED OF THE RECALL ON MY KIA OPTIMA. DRIVING HOME FROM WORK (NEW JERSEY) ON THE PA TURNPIKE WHEN THE ENGINE STOPPED. LUCKILY, I WAS NOT REAR-ENDED BY ANOTHER VEHICLE AND INJURED OR KILLED. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE NEAREST AUTOBODY SHOP (PEP BOYS). THIS WAS LATE AT NIGHT, MOST BUSINESSES/PLACES WERE CLOSED. I INCURRED A TOWING BILL, HOTEL BILL, CAR RENTAL BILL AND SERVICE BILL BECAUSE I WAS UNAWARE OF THE RECALL FROM KIA REGARDING THE ENGINE. I SUBMITTED A REQUEST FOR REIMBURSEMENT FROM KIA FOR THE COST/FEES I INCURRED. I RECEIVED A LETTER STATING THAT THEY ARE DENYING THE CLAIM.
STEERING WHEEL WOBBLING AND CAUSING SLACK FOR NO REASON. BEARING OR BOLT HAS GONE OUT. DOLLAR PART WILL COST 350 TO FIX HAS TO BE DONE BY DEALERSHIP UNSAFE AND RIDICULOUS.
ALL THE PAINT ON THE OUTSIDE OF MY 2013 KIA OPTIMA IS BUBBLING AND PEELING OFF THE CHROME ON MY WHEELS IS CHIPPING AND COMING OFF
The paint on my car is chipping off. It is a Snow White pearl and I read online that this is very common for Kia’s with this color of paint.
My Kia has been chipping it’s paint off for years now. I have paint chip marks all around car. Car looks like it’s 15 yrs old due to bad paint. It’s down to the primer bare of the car.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 KIA OPTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE LOW BEAM HEADLAMPS DID NOT ILLUMINATE FAR ENOUGH AHEAD OF THE VEHICLE FOR IT TO BE DRIVEN SAFELY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE CHROME REFLECTIVE TAPE WAS BEING BURNED OUT, WHICH RESULTED IN INSUFFICIENT LIGHT BEING REFLECTED. THE TECHNICIAN RECOMMENDED THAT THE HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND DID NOT ASSIST SINCE THERE WAS NO RECALL FOR THAT COMPONENT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 115,000.
"TAKATA RECALL" MY ENGINE STARTED SHAKING AND THE CAR STOPPED!
I BOUGHT THE CAR BRAND NEW IN 2013 WITHIN 1 YEAR AFTER PURCHASING THE CAR STARTED USING OIL AND MOTOR HAD A LITTLE BIT OF A TICK SOUND.. CHECKING THE OIL EVERYDAY BECAUSE NONE OF THE LIGHT IN THE CAR CAME ON AND IT BEING NEW I GOT A RECALL SO I MADE APPOINT EVERYTHING THE RECALL LISTED MY CAR WAS DOING.. THEY SAID IT PASSED TEST. BUT ME KNOWING SOMETHING WASN'T RIGHT ABOUT IT DIDN'T BELIEVE THEM.. 4 MONTHS LATER I'M GOING DOWN HIGHWAY AND ENGINE JUST QUITS ON ME SO I COAST IN CLOSEST PLACE AND PUT CAR IN PARK.. TRYING TO START THE CAR IT WOULD NOT CRANK AND BRAKES LOCKED. TWO DIFFERENT MECHANICS HAS LOOKED AT MY CAR AND ITS THE MOTOR.. BUT KIA IS WANTING ME TO SPEND THE MONEY I DON'T HAVE AND THAT'S THERE FAULT TO FIX MY CAR..
WHEN I CUT MY CAR OFF AFTER DRIVING OR SOMETIMES WHILE DRIVING I HAVE A TICKING NOISE THAT SORT OF SOUNDS LIKE A BOMB. ALSO, WHEN I PUT MY CAR IN REVERSE THERE IS SOME SORT OF GRINDING NOISE. THE CAR ALSO DOESNT TAKE OFF/DRIVE THE WAY IT USE TO
STEERING WHEEL HAS A CATCH OR NOTCH SOMETIMES IN COLD WEATHER WHEN TRYING TO TURN THE WHEEL.
STEERING HAS A DEAD SPOT NEAR THE CENTER AND IT FEELS LIKE IT GETS HUNG UP WHEN THE WHEEL IS TURNED EITHER DIRECTION AND IT JUMPS WHEN ALTERNATING LEFT TO RIGHT OR RIGHT TO LEFT IT FEELS UNSAFE AND JUMPY WHEELS WILL NOT EVER STAY IN A STRAIGHT CENTERED POSITION WHEN YOU TRY TO CORRECT THE JUMP IN THE STEERING OVER CORRECTS CAUSING A BACK AND FORTH JUST TO STAY IN ONE LANE THE NOISE IT MAKES IS A CLUNK AND IS MOST NOTICEABLE WHILE SITTING AT IDLE TURING THE WHEEL BACK AND FORTH EVEN ONE INCH
THE PAINT IS PEELING OFF OF MY CAR WHILE THE CAR IS STATIONARY
ONE DAY WHILE DRIVING MY CAR, IT BEGAN HAVING SOME CLICKING SOUNDS IN THE ENGINE. AFTER A FEW MINUTES IT COMPLETELY TURNED OFF AND WOULD NOT START. I GOT IT TOWED TO A MECHANIC WHO SAID THERE WAS METAL PIECES IN THE OIL WHICH CLOGGED OIL FLOW AND NEEDED TO REPLACE THE ENGINE.
2 DAYS AFTER MY WARRANTY EXPIRED A LIGHT APPEARED ON MY DASH AND MY HORN STOPPED WORKING, KIA SAID IT WAS AN AIRBAG LIGHT. I WAS QUOTED OVER $600 TO REPLACE A CLOCK SPRING. I TOOK IT TO A MECHANIC WHO PUT IN A CLOCK SPRING, IT FIXED THE HORN BUT IT WOULD COST MORE TO REPLKACE A SENSOR OR AIRBAG WHICH EVER WOULD BE NEEDED ONCE THEY DUG INTO IT. I COULDN'T AFFORD THE EXTRA COST SO IT STILL APPEARS ON MY DASH.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE OIL NEEDED TO BE REFILLED TO AVOID AN ENGINE FAILURE. THE FAILURE RECURRED ON A WEEKLY BASIS. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 85,000. *DT
I AM CURRENTLY STATIONED IN RAMSTEIN GERMANY WITH THE U.S. AIR FORCE. I CONTACTED KIA TO HAVE THE RECALL CHECKED AND THE WORK COMPLETED. THEY ARE REFUSING SAYING THAT SINCE I AM IN GERMANY THE RECALL DOESN'T AFFECT THEM. THEY ARE ALSO REFUSING TO HONOR MY WARRANTY. EMAIL IS THE BEST TO CONTACT ME OR VIA CELL [XXX]. ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 17TH AT AROUND 7 PM, MY HUSBAND AND I WAS DRIVING ON 118 FREEWAY AT 70 MILES PER HOUR. ALL THE LIGHTS CAME ON THE DASH BOARD, AND THE CAR JUST TURNED OFF. SHORTLY, AFTER WE GOT OFF THE FREEWAY, WE TURNED THE CAR BACK ON AND A COUPLE OF MINUTES LATER THE CAR TURNED OFF AGAIN. WE TOOK OUR CAR TO GALPIN KIA ON MONDAY IN PANORAMA CITY, CA.. THE DEALER KEPT THE CAR 3 DAYS TO CHECKED OUT THE ENGINE AND DROVE CAR 6 MILES AND DETERMINE THE CAR WAS OK. MY HUSBAND AND I ARE VERY CONCERNED FOR MY SAFETY. PLEASE HELP US TO RESOLVE THIS ISSUE BEFORE AN ACCIDENT OVCURS.
ON SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 11, 2017, I WAS TRAVELING ON THE FREEWAY AT 70 MILES PER HOUR. MY 2013 OPTIMA AUTOMOBILE STOPPED SUDDENLY ON THE FREEWAY. I RESTARTED THE CAR AND PROCEED TO EXIT THE FREEWAY. ONCE I EXIT THE FREEWAY AND AT THE LIGHT, MY CAR STOPPED AGAIN. SO, I KNEW SOMETHING WAS DEFINITELY WRONG WITH MY CAR. ON MONDAY, NOVEMBER 13, 2017, I TOOK MY CAR TO GALPIN KIA IN NORTH HILLS TO HAVE THE CAR CHECKED. THE DEALER KEPT MY CAR FOR 3 DAYS, THEREFORE, I HAD GET A RENTAL CAR. I THEN RECEIVED A CALL ON WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 15, 2017 THAT THE TEST RAN ON THE ENGINE SHOWED NOTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE ENGINE. NOTE: I RECEIVED A RECALL VIA MAIL REGARDING THE AN ISSUE WITH THE ENGINE FOR THE OPTIMA 2013 AUTOMOBILE. DUE TO FEAR AND WORRY, I AM AFRAID TO DRIVE THE CAR. HOWEVER, I HAVE TO GO TO WORK, SO I HAVE BEEN TAKING THE STREETS. PLEASE ASSIST ME IN GETTING THE RECALL OF THE ENGINE PROBLEM DONE ON MY CAR, SO I CAN DRIVE MY CAR AND HAVE PEACE OF MIND IN KNOWING MY CAR IS SAFE TO DRIVE.
HAVEN'T ANYTHING HAPPENED JUST YET, BUT I HAVE RECEIVED A NOTICE IN THE MAIL
WHEN I PRESS DOWN ON THE ACCELERATOR WHILE ALREADY MOVING, IN ORDER TO PASS OR GET ON THE A HIGHWAY THE ENGINE WILL REV UP VERY HIGH BUT THERE WILL BE NO INCREASE IN SPEED. THIS HAS BEEN HAPPENING SINCE I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE AND I FIRST REPORTED IT TO THE DEAL IN 2014. THEY SAY THEY CAN NOT GET IT TO DO IT AND BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO CODE TO GO BY, CAN DO NOTHING. NOW THE CARE HAS ONLY 500 MILES LEFT ON THE WARRANTY. I RECENTLY REALIZED THE URGENCY OF THE SITUATION AS I WAS ENTERING THE TURNPIKE WHERE CONSTRUCTION WAS TAKING PLACE. THERE WAS LITTLE ROOM FOR ERROR AND LITTLE TIME TO SEE WHO WAS COMING. I SAW A SEMI COMING BUT KNEW IF I ACCELERATED I COULD GET ON IN TIME. I PUSHED DOWN ON THE ACCELERATOR AND THIS HAPPENED. I TOOK MY FOOT OFF AND PUT IT BACK ON AND FORTUNATELY IT KICKED IN. NO ONE WOULD HAVE KNOWN THIS WAS A DEFECT OF THE CAR IF I WAS HIT BY THE SEMI. I AM HEARING FROM OTHERS THAT THEY ARE HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. I WOULD WARN OTHERS NOT TO TRUST THIS MANUFACTURER.
ALITTLE OVER 2 YEARS AGO I STARTED NOTICING PAINT PEELING OFF THE PILLARS ON THE SIDES OF MY WINDSHIELD, IT STARTED WITH A SMALL SPOT AND CONTINUED TO GET WORSE. I HAVE ALWAYS GOTTEN MY CAR SERVICED AT A KIA DEALERSHIP AND HAD WARRANTIES ON MY CAR SO I MENTIONED IT NUMEROUS TIMES AND EVERYTIME I WAS TOLD THAT PAINT WASN'T COVERED AND THAT "THEY HAD NEVER SEEN PAINT PEELING LIKE THAT " ON ANY OTHER SNOW PEARL WHITE KIAS. THE PAINT CONTINUED TO PEEL OFF, THE WIND WOULD BLOW HUGE PIECES OFF. NOW IT HAS STARTED ON MY HOOD, THE PASSENGER SIDE OF MY CAR AND THE TRUNK! ITS ALREADY SHOWING SIGNS OF RUST. THE WORST PART IS I BROUGHT MY CAR IN AGAIN AND ASKED WHAT THE HELL WAS GOING ON?! THE TECHNICIAN ASSURED ME THEY HAD NEVER SEEN THAT, AND WHILE I WAS SITTING THERE 2 OTHER SNOW WHITE PEARL KIAS PULL IN AND THEY HAVE PAINT PEELING IN THE SAME SPOTS! THATS WHEN I DECIDED TO DO SOME RESEARCH AND SAW THAT THIS IS HAPPENING ALL OVER THE COUNTRY MAINLY TO KIAS WITH THE SNOW WHITE PEARL COLOR. ALL I WANT IS FOR KIA TO REPAINT MY CAR. I PAID ALOT OF MONEY FOR IT AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVE MY CAR BUT IT LOOKS LIKE IT IS 20 YEARS OLD WITH THE PAINT FLYING OFF OF IT AND ITS STARTING TO RUST!!! THIS IS MY 2ND KIA I HAVE PURCHASED AND I LOVE THEM, BUT I AM EXTREMLY PISSED OFF AND DISAPPOINTED THAT I HAVE BEEN FIGHTING FOR OVER 2 YEARS ABOUT THIS AND NOTHING HAS BEEN DONE. OBVIOUSLY THERE WAS SOME SORT OF MANUFACTURING DEFECT WHEN THESE CARS WERE PAINTED IN THE FACTORY BECAUSE THERE IS NO OTHER EXPLANATION FOR WHY THERE ARE THOUSANDS OF SNOW PEARL WHITE KIAS WITH THE PAINT PEELING OFF IN THE SAME EXACT SPOTS. I ALSO BOUGHT MY CAR NEW SO I KNOW THAT IT HAS BEEN TAKEN CARE OF THE ENTIRE TIME. I JUST WANT MY CAR PAINTED BEFORE ITS ALL RUSTED ESPECIALLY SINCE I PAID $30,000 FOR THE CAR.
VEHICLE STEERING HAS BECOME FAULTY. WHEN THE STEERING WHEEL IS TURNED WHILE PARKED OR DRIVING, IT STICKS THEN MOVES FREELY WITHOUT THE WHEELS TURNING. THIS STICKING IS ACCOMPANIED BY A KNOCKING/CLICKING IN THE STEERING COLUMN. THIS MOST OFTEN HAPPENS WHEN TURNING THE STEERING WHEEL FROM IT'S CENTER POSITION. I'M UNSURE OF THE CAUSE. THIS STARTED APPROXIMATELY 3 WEEKS AGO (30OCT17) AND HAS PERSISTED. I'M VERY CONCERNED THAT THIS IS GOING TO ESCALATE INTO A DANGEROUS SITUATION. CAN YOU PLEASE ASSIST?
THE AXLE AND WHEEL BROKE OFF AND FLEW INTO 2 PARKED CARS. IT TOTALED OUR CAR.MY HUSBAND HAD JUST TURNED OFF OF A BUSY STREET TO A SMALL STREET. HE WAS GOING ABOUT 15 MILES PER HOUR. HE HEARD A LOUD NOISE AND THE AIRBAGS WENT OFF. HE GOT PUT OF THE CAR AND SAW WHAT HAPPENED. HIS AXLE AND WHEEL BROKE OFF AND FLEW INTO THE 2 PARKED CARS. KIA IS NOT COOPERATING AT ALL AND THERE HAS BEEN A RECALL FOR THIS EXACT PROBLEM ON THE SAME MODEL, BUT DIFFERENT YEAR.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 KIA OPTIMA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A FRONT END COLLISION AFTER LOSING FUNCTIONALITY OF VARIOUS ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS. THE FAILURE OCCURRED WITHOUT WARNING. THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. PRIOR TO THE CRASH, THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO VALLEY HI KIA (14673 CIVIC DR, VICTORVILLE, CA), BUT THE FAILURE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED UNTIL THE SECOND TIME IT WAS BROUGHT IN FOR DRIVING ABNORMALLY. THE DEALER DIAGNOSED THAT THE ELECTRONIC SYSTEM, MOTOR MOUNT, AND TRANSMISSION WERE DEFECTIVE AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE DEALER BANNED THE CONTACT FROM RETURNING. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO KIA OF ORANGE (210 W KATELLA AVE, ORANGE, CA) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 17V224000 (ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING); HOWEVER, THE CONTACT DID NOT RECEIVE A RECALL NOTICE. THE RECALL WAS REMEDIED, BUT NO OTHER REPAIRS WERE PERFORMED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED. THERE WAS ONE INJURY THAT REQUIRED MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE CONTACT SUFFERED LOWER BACK, HIP, AND HEAD INJURIES. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 56,000.
