Driving slowly out of parking lot a loud bang was heard. Scraping noise was heard from under van, drove about 25 yards then stopped at side of road. Left rear wheel was crooked and under van the left rear lower control arm was broken in half and was dragging on ground, left rear wheel was off ground. No one was injured, no other damage to this vehicle or others. This vehicle was previously serviced on Kia Service Campaign SC102, unknown date. Would have been serious accident if this occurred at highway speeds. Both lower control arms have been replaced, parts saved for inspection. Pictures attached. Kia was notified of this, case #[XXX]. PASSENGER SIDE RR CONTROL ARM RUSTED THROUGH WHICH CAUSED IT TO BEND AND CAUSED RR TIRE TO FOLD INWARD. HAD TO REPLACE RR CONTROL ARM, RR COIL SPRING AND SHOCKS ON BOTH SIDES WHICH WAS AFFECTED BY RUSTED CONTROL ARM. I BROUGHT IT IN TO REPAIR SHOP WHEN I NOTICED A LOUD THUMP WHEN GOING OVER A BUMP. THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL.
LEFT REAR LOWER CONTROL ARM HAD RUSTED AND BROKE WHILE BACKING UP IN A PARKING LOT.
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO ENTER TRAFFIC FROM OUR DRIVEWAY UPON ACCELERATION THE STEERING WHEEL SHOOK AND A LOUD "THUD" WAS HEARD WITHIN THE VEHICLE. MY WIFE WHO WAS DRIVING ATTEMPTED TO BACK THE VEHICLE INTO OUR DRIVEWAY BUT WAS UNABLE AS THE VEHICLE WAS UNRESPONSIVE. WHEN I GOT TO THE VEHICLE AND INSPECTED IT, I NOTICED THAT THE PASSENGER TIRE WAS TIPPED OUTWARD, SO I INSPECTED THE VEHICLE AND NOTICED THAT THE LOWER CONTROL ARM HAD SNAPPED AND WENT THROUGH THE TRANSAXLE RENDERING THE VEHICLE INOPERABLE. WHEN LOOKING AT OUR VEHICLE PAPERWORK WE REALIZED THAT THIS PARTICULAR PART WAS REPLACED DUE TO A RECALL IN 2016. WE CONTACTED THE DEALER WHO INFORMED US THAT WE WOULD NEED TO TAKE UP THE COMPLAINT WITH KIA DIRECTLY. WE DID SO AND WERE INFORMED THAT THERE WERE NO ACTIVE RECALLS ON THIS REPLACEMENT PART AND THAT THEY ONLY WARRANTIED THESE REPLACEMENTS FOR 12 MONTHS. WE WANTED TO ALERT YOU TO THIS ISSUE AS I FEEL THAT THIS KIND OF DAMAGE SHOULD NOT OCCUR TO A 3-YEAR-OLD REPLACEMENT PART ON A VEHICLE THAT ONLY GETS DRIVEN TO TAKE THE KIDS TO AND FROM SCHOOL DAILY.
DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN FRONT CONTROL ARM MOUNT AT SUBFRAME BROKE, CAUSING STEERING AND SUSPENSION TO MALFUNCTION ALMOST CAUSING LOSS OF CONTROL AND ACCIDENT. LUCKILY, NOBODY WAS IN THE ONCOMING LANE, OR I WOULD HAVE HIT HEAD ON WITH ANOTHER CAR AND AUTO BECAME HARD TO STEER/CONTROL UNTIL I WAS ABLE TO BRAKE DOWN TO LOWER SPEED. KIA HAS KNOWN RECALL FOR LOWER CONTROL ARMS RUSTING, BUT NOTHING PER DEALER FOR SUBFRAME RUSTING/BREAKING. THIS SHOULD BE ADDRESSED.
WHILE ROTATING THE TIRES, I NOTICED THAT THE LEFT LOWER CONTROL ARM WAS ALMOST COMPLETELY RUSTED THROUGH.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 KIA SEDONA. WHILE THE CONTACT WAS PULLING OUT OF A PARKING LOT, THE LOWER CONTROL ARM FRACTURED DUE TO CORROSION. THE VEHICLE STOPPED IN THE MIDDLE OF AN INTERSECTION AND HAD TO BE TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC. THE MECHANIC DIAGNOSED THAT THERE WAS CORROSION CAUSED BY LIQUID ROAD SALT. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN A RECALL. THE MANUFACTURER STATED THAT THERE WERE NO RECALLS FOR THE FAILURE. THE CONTACT FELT THAT HER STATE WAS WAS BEING EXCLUDED FROM THE RECALL FOR THE CORROSION OF THE CONTROL ARMS WHEN NEARBY STATES WERE INCLUDED. THE DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 170,000. *AS THE CONSUMER REQUESTED TO BE ADDED TO THE RECALL LIST AND BE REIMBURSED FOR THE REPAIRS. *JS
THE BACK FRAME OF MY 2006 KIA SEDONA IS ALL CORRODED. CANNOT DRIVE THE CAR ANY MORE. I BOUGHT THE CAR IN NOV-2006 AND IN DECEMBER 2011 I HAD TO CHANGE THE FRONT FRAME DUE TO CORROSION. IN MARCH 2014, I HAD TO CHANGE THE FRONT SUSPENSION DUE TO CORROSION AND NOW THE BACK FRAME IS ALL CORRODED. I WOULD LIKE THAT SOMEONE REALLY CHECK ON KIIA'S MATERIALS. IS INCREDIBLY THAT AFTER 5 YEARS I HAD TO CHANGE THE FRONT FRAME. AND UP TODAY'S DAY. I HAVE THE SAME CORROSION ISSUE. I LEAVE IN NEW JERSEY AND I KNOW THAT IN THE WINTER, THERE IS LOTS OF SALT ON THE STREETS BUT I HAVE NEVER SEEN A PROBLEM LIKE THIS ON ANY OTHER BRAND. THIS ISSUE GOES DIRECTLY TO THE SAFETY OF THE CAR.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 KIA SEDONA. WHILE DRIVING 50 MPH, THE FRONT DRIVER'S SIDE CONTROL ARM FRACTURED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO A DEALER TO BE DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 215,000.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 KIA SEDONA. WHILE DRIVING VARIOUS SPEEDS, A CLICKING NOISE WAS PRESENT COMING FROM THE FRONT END WHILE TURNING THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE FRONT LOWER CONTROL ARM WAS DAMAGED DUE TO CORROSION AND RUSTING. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 109,000.
ONE OF THE CONTROL ARMS RUSTED COMPLETELY AND BROKE WHILE DRIVING. BECAUSE OF THIS WE HAVE INSPECTED THE OTHER CONTROL ARMS AND THEY WERE ALL RUSTED TO THE POINT THAT IT MADE THE CAR UNSAFE TO DRIVE AND THEY HAVE BEEN REPLACED. NOW THE CAR WILL NOT START PERIODICALLY. I HAVE RESEARCHED AND MANY OTHER OWNER OF THE SAME MAKE AND MODEL ARE HAVING THIS SAME ISSUE DUE TO THE ANTI THEFT DEVICE.
EXISTING KIA RECALL SC133. LOWER CONTROL ARM NEEDS TO BE REPLACED AND VEHICLE IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE IN PRESENT CONDITION TO NEAREST SERVICING DEALER. MANUFACTURER REFUSES TO HAVE VEHICLE TOWED IN ORDER TO FIX SAFETY ISSUES. MANUFACTURER REFUSES TO CALL BACK AND ADDRESS ISSUE. MY VEHICLE HAS BEEN UNUSABLE TO ME FOR APX. 3 WEEKS NOW DUE TO KIA NOT ADDRESSING THE RECALL IN A TIMELY MANNER.
FRONT DRIVER SIDE CONTROL ARM COVERED UNDER RECALL BUT NOT REPLACED BROKE WHILE DRIVING, CAUSING THE AXLE AND OTHER FRONT SUSPENSION PARTS TO BREAK, CAUSING THE FRONT WHEEL TO POINT OUTWARDS IN OPPOSITE DIRECTIONS, AND THE VEHICLE TO COME TO A SCREECHING STOP, FROM 30 MPH. VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO KIA DEALER IN 2013 AFTER RECEIVING REAL NOTICE ABOUT FRONT CONTROL ARM AND WAS TOLD THE PART WAS FINE AND DID NOT NEED REPLACING.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THAT THE LOWER CONTROL ARM WAS RUSTED, FRACTURED, AND NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 200,000.

AFTER CONTACTING THE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE PARTS NEEDED FOR THE RECALL REMEDY WERE STILL NOT AVAILABLE AND NO ESTIMATED TIME FOR RECEIVING THE PARTS COULD BE PROVIDED. THE CONTACT HAD NOT EXPERIENCED A FAILURE. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 145,063.
