THE CONTACT MENTIONED THAT HE WAS ABLE TO RESTART THE VEHICLE IMMEDIATELY AFTER WHICH WAS WORKING NORMALLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 300 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 14,800.

THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING 35 MPH, THE VEHICLE STALLED WITHOUT WARNING. THE DEALER REPLACED THE KEY FOB, ENGINE MODULE, WIRING HARNESS AND BRAKE LIGHT SWITCH HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000.

THE CONTACT THEN PROCEEDED TO DEPRESS THE BRAKES BUT THE VEHICLE FAILED TO STOP PROPERLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THE DEALER CONFIRMED THAT THE MASTER CYLINDER NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED BUT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 15,235.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL OF THE LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD FAILED TO ILLUMINATE, CAUSING THE ENTIRE DASHBOARD TO GO BLACK WITH THE EXCEPTION OF THE GLOW PLUG. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. AN ENGINEER WAS REQUESTED TO FURTHER INSPECT THE VEHICLE HOWEVER, HE WAS ALSO UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. AFTER INSPECTION, THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO OPERATE AS DESIGNED. THE CONTACT ALSO STATED THAT THE BRAKE PEDAL HAD A SPONGY FEEL TO IT. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER: 10V599000 (SERVICE BRAKES, HYDRAULIC:FOUNDATION COMPONENTS:DISC:CALIPER) AND THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHO INFORMED HIM THAT THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED IN THE RECALL. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 33,500 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 42,000.
AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION, WENT TO SHIFT FROM DRIVE TO REVERSE AND WOULD NO GO INTO REVERSE OR PARK. HAS DONE THIS SEVERAL TIMES IN LAST TWO DAYS. THE ESC AND DBC LIGHTS WERE ON AND SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN ON. I WENT ON A KIA FORUM AND THERE ARE MANY COMPLAINTS FOR THE SAME THING WITH CARS THAT HAVE EVEN LESS MILEAGE THAN MINE. *TR
PURCHASED 2011 KIA SORENTO - NEW- FROM LOCAL DEALERSHIP ON 5/13/2011. IN ONE YEAR (5/17/2012) RIGHT-REAR PASSENGER DOOR STARTED STICKING. ENDED UP BEING THE DOOR PANEL STICKING ON THE WEATHER STRIPPING, BUT THIS REQUIRED TWO SUBSEQUENT ATTEMPTS TO REPAIR, ON 6/6/2012 (WEATHER STRIP REPLACED) AND 9/5/2012 (DOOR PANEL REPLACED) (COVERED BY WARRANTY). THIS FINAL SOLUTION OF REPLACING THE DOOR PANEL WORKED, UNTIL 6/19/2014. SAME ISSUE, WITH THE SAME DOOR, RECURRED. THE DOOR PANEL CLIPS HAVE BEEN REPLACED. THE DEALER SHIP OPENED A CASE WITH KIA AT OUR REQUEST AND ADJUSTED THE DOOR STRIKE PLATE. THE PROBLEM SEEMED TO BE FIXED, BUT WITHIN TWO DAYS, WE ARE READY TO TAKE IT BACK TO RE-ADDRESS THE ISSUE. AT THIS POINT THE MILEAGE HAS PLACED THE CAR OUT OF WARRANTY, THUS THE CURRENT COST OF THE PART (THE DOOR PANEL) BEING $675, PLUS LABOR, IS ON US TO BEAR AND LIKELY, BASED ON THE PREVIOUS RECORD WILL NOT BE THE FINAL REPAIR REQUIRED FOR THIS ROUND. WE FULLY EXPECT THIS SAME DOOR TO FAIL IN ANOTHER TWO YEARS. WE FEEL THAT THIS ISSUE IS A SAFETY HAZARD AS WHEN SOMEONE TRIES TO OPEN THE DOOR, FORGETTING IT IS BROKEN, AND DOES NOT PUSH HARD TO CLOSE THE DOOR, IT IS NOT FULLY ENGAGED. THERE IS AN OPEN CASE WITH KIA DIRECTLY TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEM (K2738522). THEY ONLY MENTIONED ASSISTING WITH THE REPAIR, NOT REPAIRING IT AT THEIR COST, FOR WHAT IS LIKELY A QUALITY AND SAFETY ISSUE WITH THIS PARTICULAR VEHICLE AND DOOR. Purchased the vehicle new and never sustained any damage to the affected areas of pearl white paint peeling.
STABILITY CONTROL AND DOWNHILL ASSIST LIGHTS ILLUMINATE WHILE DRIVING. THEN WHEN STOPPED, CAR WILL NOT GO PAST NEUTRAL WHEN TRYING TO SHIFT INTO PARK. ALSO, WHEN DRIVING, THE BRAKE LIGHTS DO NOT WORK IMMEDIATELY WHEN PEDAL IS DEPRESSED. CAR WILL NOT SHIFT OUT OF PARK AFTER STARTED AND STABILITY CONTROL AND DOWNHILL ASSIST LIGHTS ARE ILLUMINATED. LOCATED SWITCH AT THE UPPER PART OF THE BRAKE PEDAL AND WHILE CAR WAS IN NEUTRAL, WITH PARKING BRAKE ON, WAS ABLE TO BUMP THE SWITCH BOX AND THEN SHIFT CAR INTO PARK. *TR
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING OUR 2011 KIA SORENTO FEB. 2012 (17,450 MILES) WHEN IT WENT "CLUNK" AND LOST POWER; THE ENGINE RAN AS NORMAL BUT NO/LITTLE POWER FROM TRANSMISSION. SHE WAS ON A DANGEROUS HIGHWAY AND DAMAGED THE CAR TRYING TO BACK UP TO A SAFER SPOT. SORENTO WAS TOWED, DEALER KEPT IT FOR THREE DAYS AND SAID THEY'D FIXED THE PROBLEM, BUT KIA SAID THE BODY DAMAGE WAS OUR PROBLEM. TODAY, APRIL 30, I WAS DRIVING WHEN IT WENT "CLUNK" - (APPROX 21,500 MILES AT 47 MPH) ENGINE RAN BUT NO/LITTLE POWER FROM TRANSMISSION; I PULLED OVER, SHUT THE IGNITION OFF AND RESTARTED AFTER A MINUTE OR SO - I AM HOME AND THE CAR IS GOING TO THE DEALER. THIS CAR SCARES ME - IF THIS HAPPENS IN OTHER CIRCUMSTANCES I SEE THE REAL POSSIBILITY OF A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. HOW DO I REPORT THIS PROBLEM? OTHER THAN TRADING IT (AND GIVING THE DANGER TO SOMEONE ELSE), WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS? THIS IS OUR SECOND DANGEROUS INCIDENT . . . I DON'T BELIEVE ANYONE AT KIA REALLY CARES. *JS
MY WIFE WAS DRIVING MY OUR 2011 KIA SORENTO AT AROUND 55 MPH ENTERING THE HIGHWAY WHEN SHE SUDDENLY LOST POWER. SHE TRIED TO USE BOTH THE BRAKES AND ACCELERATOR AND FOUND THAT NEITHER OF THEM WORKED. THE CAR SLOWED TO ABOUT 5-10MPH BEFORE EVENTUALLY STOPPING IN THE MIDDLE OF THE ROAD, AS SHE HAD BEEN UNABLE TO PULL THE CAR TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. AFTER SEVERAL MINUTES OF TRYING, SHE WAS EVENTUALLY ABLE TO GET THE CAR RESTARTED AND DRIVE THE REST OF THE WAY HOME. SHE DOES RECALL THAT THE DRIVER SIDE WINDOW APPEARED TO BE WORKING. THE CAR WAS BROUGHT TO THE DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY THE DAY AFTER THIS HAPPENED. HOWEVER, THEY WERE UNABLE TO REPRODUCE WHAT HAPPENED TO THE CAR. THEY DID UPDATE THE ELECTRONIC CONTROL MODULE SOFTWARE. WILL CONTINUE TO MONITOR SITUATION CLOSELY. *TR
BOUGHT CAR ON 4-12-12 HAD 22531 MILES ON IT. FROM TIME OF PURCHASE IT WOULD PULL TO THE RIGHT SEVERELY. WE HAD KIA DEALERSHIP CHECK OUT STEERING PROBLEM. THEY COULDN'T FIND ANYTHING WRONG. THEY CHARGED US FOR AN ALIGNMENT AND SAID CAR SHOULD STIR FINE. ALIGNMENT DO NOTHING TO FIX STEERING PROBLEM,STILL PULLS SEVERELY TO THE RIGHT AT ANY SPEED. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 KIA SORENTO. WHILE STOPPED WITH THE BRAKE PEDAL DEPRESSED, THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO PLACE THE GEAR SHIFTER FROM DRIVE TO PARK BUT THE SHIFTER BECAME STUCK IN NEUTRAL. THE CONTACT SHUT THE VEHICLE OFF AND RESTARTED IT APPROXIMATELY THREE TIMES BEFORE BEING ABLE TO SHIFT INTO PARK. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR DIAGNOSTICS OR REPAIRS. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 18,000.
I WAS AT CAR WASH TO WASH CAR TURNED OFF CAR. COULD NOT GET IT TO RESTART AFTER SEVERAL ATTEMPTS WITH PUSH BUTTON START. HAD TO BE TOWED TO DEALERSHIP. REPLACED BRAKELIGHT SWITCH.. STILL HAVING ISSUES TO THIS DAY WITH INTERMITTENT NO START.. JULY 3 BRAKELIGHT SWITCH REPLACED AGAIN SECOND TIME NOW ALONG WITH 11 CAMPAIGN ISSUES WITH CAR. STILL HAVING NO START ISSUES REPLACED SAME PART AGAIN! ON AUGUST 8TH 2013. STILL HAPPENING OFF AND ON . WAS TRYING TO DEAL WITH KIA CONSUMER AFFAIRS THEY ARE NO HELP. GOT TOLD IT HAD TO NOT START AGAIN AND NEED TO BE TOWED IN TO DEALER BEFORE THEY WOULD DO ANYTHING. THIS IS VERY UNFAIR. ENOUGH ATTEMPTS HAVE BEEN MADE TO FIX AND SEEING OTHER OWNERS HAVING SAME PROBLEMS. PLEASE HELP. *TR
WHEN TRYING TO STEP ON GAS VEHICLE SEEMS TO STRAIN. EXAMPLE, WHEN NEEDING TO GET IN LANE, MY CAR SEEMS NOT TO GET MUCH GAS WHICH I FEEL ESPECIALLY ON HIGHWAY, MAY CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. MY VEHICLE TEND TO RIDE QUITE ROUGH AS FAR AS WHEEL SUSPENSION. I HAVE HAD A WHEEL ALIGNMENT AND HAVE HAD THE VEHICLE CHECKED. I WAS TOLD NOTHING SEEMED TO BE WRONG WITH IT. I HAD THE 189.00 SERVICE DID ON MY CAR AS WELL. I CALLED THE RECALL CENTER AND I WAS TOLD NOTHING SHOWED FOR MY VEHICLE. MY VEHICLE IS NOT PERFORMING AS IT SHOULD. *TR

THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED BUT THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THE VEHICLE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 12,100. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
WHILE DRIVING (USUALLY STEADY STATE SPEED ON HIGHWAY - WITH OR WITHOUT CRUISE CONTROL ENGAGED) CAR EXPERIENCES A SUDDEN LOSS OF ENGINE POWER ACCOMPANIED BY A JOLT (AS IF BRAKES HAD BEEN ABRUPTLY AND BRIEFLY ENGAGED, OR AS IF FUEL SUPPLY SUDDENLY SHUT OFF), TACHOMETER DIPS SUDDENLY, CAR SUDDENLY DECELERATES FOR A SECOND OR TWO, AND THEN THINGS RETURN TO NORMAL. SOMETIMES AN INDICATOR LIGHT - OR MORE THAN ONE- FLASHES MOMENTARILY AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT,THESE INCLUDE THE ENGINE LIGHT, THE TRACTION CONTROL LIGHT, AND/OR THE KEY IMMOBILIZER LIGHT - SOMETIMES NO INDICATOR LIGHT FLASHES AT ALL. THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED WHILE ACCELERATING AWAY FROM A DEAD STOP - SUDDEN LOSS OF FORWARD MOMENTUM W/ A JOLT. I AM AFRAID I WILL GET REAR-ENDED AS THE CAR SUDDENLY SLOWS BUT BRAKE LIGHTS ARE NOT ILLUMINATED, AND A CAR FOLLOWING TOO CLOSELY WILL NOT BE ABLE TO REACT IN TIME. IF CRUISE CONTROL IS ENGAGED AT TIME OF INCIDENT IT BECOMES DISENGAGED AND HAS TO BE RESET. THIS SOMETIMES WILL NOT OCCUR IN AN HOUR OF DRIVING, BUT SOMETIMES WILL OCCUR AS OFTEN AS 10 TIMES IN A 20 MILE DRIVE WITH NO DISCERNIBLE PATTERN. THIS HAS HAPPENED MANY TIMES AND GROWN MORE FREQUENT OVER TIME. THE FIRST TIME IT OCCURRED WAS IN A RAIN STORM AND I SUSPECTED THE ESC WAS SENSING SLIPPAGE AND FIRING THE BRAKES, HOWEVER IT HAPPENS REGARDLESS OF WEATHER OR ROAD SURFACE AND NOW HAPPENS EVERY TIME I DRIVE FOR MORE THAN A FEW MILES ON FREEWAY. THE CAR HAS BEEN EVALUATED BY KIA SERVICE MORE THAN THREE TIMES AND PROBLEM IS NOT RESOLVED - BATTERY AND ABS MODULE WERE REPLACED WITHOUT SUCCESS. SOMETIME IN OCT. 31, 2011, MY KIA SORENTO 2011 FAILED TO START UP. IT TOOK ME TO DIAL MY CELL AND CALL KIA ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE TO DEAL WITH THIS PROBLEM. AND NOW, MARCH 6, 2012, ANOTHER PROBLEM, WORSE THAN THE FIRST, OCCURRED. IT WAS TUESDAY MORNING, WHILE I'M EXCITED TO REPORT TO WORK EARLY FOR A SCHEDULED POST CONFERENCE WITH THE ASST. PRINCIPAL, ONE OF MY EVALUATORS, I JUST CAN'T WORK AND GET THE POST CONFERENCE DONE DUE TO THE FAILURE OF MY KIA SORENTO 2011 TO MOVE VIA D SHIFT. I WENT OUTSIDE TO SEE WHAT HAPPEN BUT I DON'T SEE ANY OUTSIDE TROUBLE UNTIL ANOTHER DRIVER ASKED ME WHAT'S WRONG AND HEARD SOMETHING UNDERNEATH FROM MY KIA SORENTO 2011 THEN HE SAID --- TRANSMISSION. I CALLED KIA ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE AND WAITED FOR ALMOST THREE HOURS UNTIL WE GET THERE AT ORR KIA-MITSUBISHI DEALER SHREVEPORT (SAME DEALER WHERE I GOT MY KIA SORENTO 2011). I WAS TOLD TO RENT A CAR FOR 2 - 3 DAYS SINCE THEY CAN'T PROVIDE ME A DEALER'S TEMPORARY CAR TO KEEP ME GOING AND DO WHAT I'M SUPPOSED TO DO. AFTER 2 DAYS, I CALLED AND WAS TOLD THAT INDEED TRANSMISSION IS THE PROBLEM. *TR
HEAD LIGHT BURN OUT EVERY FEW MONTHS PASSENGER SIDE. REPALCED HEAD LAMP DOZEN TIMES ALREADY.
WHILE ON VACATION IN SOUTH FLORIDA, I WAS TRAVELING ON A CITY STREET AT APPROXIMATELY 45 MPH IN MY 2011 KIA SORENTO SX (6 CYL, AUTO TRANS), WHEN THE ENGINE SUDDENLY BEGAN RACING (BUT NOT ACCELERATING), AND I FELT A HEAVY THUMP IN THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE, AS IF IT HAD BEEN STRUCK BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. THERE WERE NO OTHER VEHICLES NEAR ME, AND NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. WHEN I PULLED OVER TO CHECK THE VEHICLE, THERE WAS NO VISIBLE DAMAGE. THE VEHICLE WAS PURCHASED IN OCTOBER, 2010 AND THIS WAS THE FIRST TIME I HAD THE PROBLEM IN 12,000 MILES OF USE. I TELEPHONED MY KIA DEALER IN PENNSYLVANIA AND WAS TOLD THAT IF NO WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON THEY WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE PROBLEM UNLESS IT WERE DUPLICATED DURING A TEST DRIVE. THEY DID TELL ME TO TAKE THE CAR TO A KIA SERVICE DEPARTMENT IF IT HAPPENED AGAIN. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25-35 MPH WHEN HE HEARD A LOUD, WINING NOISE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY WERE UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND ADVISED THE CONTACT TO CONTINUE DRIVING THE VEHICLE AND IF THE NOISE BECAME MORE PROMINENT, THEN THEY WOULD BUY BACK THE VEHICLE AT FULL COST. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 14,500.
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY WITH THE DEFROSTER (DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS) I HEARD WHAT SOUNDED LIKE A ROCK HITTING MY WINDSHIELD, BUT SAW NO VISIBLE DAMAGE. WHEN I ARRIVED AT MY DESTINATION I LOOKED AND DISCOVERED WHAT APPEARED TO BE A CHIP IN THE GLASS, ONLY IT WAS ON THE INSIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD. IT IS LOCATED NEAR THE VIN TAG AREA. SINCE THAT TIME SEVERAL SMALL CRACKS HAVE APPEARED, ORIGINATING FROM THE "CHIPPED" AREA. I HAD A GLASS REPAIR SHOP OUT AND THEY CONFIRMED IT WAS ON THE INSIDE OF THE GLASS AND THAT IT IS EITHER A MANUFACTURER DEFECT OR CAUSED BY THE HEATING ELEMENT THAT RUNS UNDER THE GLASS. I AM CURRENTLY WORKING WITH THE LOCAL KIA DEALER TO TRY AND GET THIS RESOLVED UNDER WARRANTY BUT WANTED TO GET A COMPLAINT IN IN CASE OTHERS HAVE EXPERIENCED THE SAME THING. *TR
THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT MAY SUFFER FROM NOISE AND EXCESSIVE WEAR DUE TO A MISALIGNMENT OF THE INTERMEDIATE SHAFT WITH THE RIGHT SIDE OUTPUT GEAR. CONTINUING TO DRIVE THE VEHICLE IN THIS CONDITION LEADS TO THE DEVELOPMENT OF A WHIRRING/WHINING NOISE AND CAN EVENTUALLY CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION. I AM GETTING THE SAME BUT THE KIA DEALERS ARE TELLING ME THAT THERE IS NOT A RECALL ON MY VEHICLE AS MINE IS AN AWD. WHEN STARTING OUT A HESITATION IS FELT WHEN PUTTING IN DRIVE AND WHEN GOING DOWN THE HIGHWAY A WHIRRING NOISE IS HEARD AND IT FEELS LIKE A VIBRATION IS COMING FROM THE CENTER OF THE CAR. *JS
WHEN SHIFTING FROM REVERSE TO DRIVE, VEHICLE CLUNKS AND THEN JOLTS FORWARD. WHEN SHIFTING INTO DRIVE,VEHICLE WHINES, DOESN'T MOVE AND SO I THEN SHIFT BACK INTO PARK WHICH RESULTS IN CLUNKING NOISE. THIS HAS HAPPENED NUMEROUS TIMES. I BROUGHT THIS TO THE ATTENTION OF MY DEALERSHIP ON 8/28/12 AND THEY COULDN'T FIND THE PROBLEM AT THAT TIME. I WAS ADVISED TO KEEP A LOG OF WHEN THE PROBLEM OCCURS WHICH IS OFTEN BUT INTERMITTENT. DEALERSHIP HAD KNOWLEDGE OF POSSIBLE DEFECTIVE PART BEFORE LAST STALLING. I WAS DRIVING AT 55 MPH ON RT 24 IN MIDDLETOWN RI IN THE PASSING LANE WHEN THE CAR STALLED, GAS PEDDLE UNRESPONSIVE. I WAS ALMOST REAR ENDED AND HAD TO WEAVE THOUGH TRAFFIC TO GET THROUGH THE DRIVING LANE THEN ON TO THE GRASS. IT WAS A MIRACLE THAT I MADE IT TO SAFETY. I WAS DRIVING ON I-95 AT APROX. 65 MPH AND FELT A SEVERE JOLT. THIS COULD HAVE CAUSED AN INEXPERIENCED DRIVER LIKE EITHER OF MY KIDS TO LOOSE CONTROL. I INITIALLY THOUGHT SOMEONE HAD HIT THE REAR OF MY CAR. THERE DIDN'T SEEM TO BE ANY OTHER VEHICLES CLOSE ENOUGH TO HAVE HIT ME, SO I PULLED OVER ONTO THE SHOULDER TO SEE IF I HAD HIT SOMETHING. EVERYTHING LOOKED FINE SO I PROCEEDED TO GET BACK ONTO THE HIGHWAY. I NOTICED THE CAR WAS SLUGGISH AND THEN NOTICED IT WAS NOT SHIFTING GEARS. AS I CONTINUED TO ACCELERATE THE ENGINE RPM CONTINUED TO CLIMB SO I HAD TO DRIVE BELOW 45MPH.WHEN THE SHIFTER WAS MOVED TO THE MANUAL SIDE IT WAS IN 4TH GEAR. I PULLED OVER ONTO THE SHOULDER AGAIN AND SHIFTED INTO NEUTRAL AND DRIVE A FEW TIMES BUT IT WOULD ALWAYS GO BACK TO 4TH GEAR WHEN IN DRIVE. I HAD TO DRIVE THE REST OF THE WAY, ABOUT 20 MILES AT A SLOWER SPEED WITH THE FLASHERS ON. THIS MORNING I CHECKED OUT THE CAR AND IT WAS OPERATING NORMALLY. I WAS DRIVING TO WORK ON MONDAY JAN. 9TH GOING APPROXIMATELY 60 MPH, WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE CAR JERKED VIOLENTLY. THEN THE CAR LOST POWER I HAD TO PULL OVER IT WOULD NOT DRIVE, I WAS PUSHING THE ACCELERATOR BUT IT WOULD NOT RESPOND. ALSO THE TACH QUIT WORKING, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON. ON MY WAY HOME IT DONE THE SAME EXACT THING I HAD TO PULL OVER AGAIN, LUCKILY BOTH TIMES THERE WAS NOT A CAR FOLLOWING TOO CLOSELY. MY HUSBAND DROVE THE CAR TO THE DEALERSHIP AND THEY KEPT IT FOR 4 DAYS AND SAID THEY COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM. WE PICKED IT UP ON SUNDAY THINKING EVERYTHING WAS FINE, WE MADE IT HOME AND WENT TO THE STORE. ON THE WAY BACK COMING ACROSS THE POMEROY MASON BRIDGE IT JERKED AGAIN VERY HARD AND WE HAD TO COME TO A STOP IN TRAFFIC! WE CALLED TO SCHEDULE ANOTHER APPOINTMENT FOR THURSDAY JAN. 19. ON MY WAY TO WORK TODAY JAN. 16 IT DONE THE SAME EXACT THING! I DON'T FEEL SAFE DRIVING THIS WITH MY 2 KIDS IN THE BACK SEAT. *TR
KEYLESS IGNITION SWITCH WHICH IS ATTACHED TO BREAK HAS DEFECT. UNABLE TO START CAR, CALLED AAA WHO COULD NOT START. CALLED HOT LINE AND THEY SAID HAVE BEEN HAVING A NUMBER OF PROBLEMS WITH THIS. CALLED LOCAL DEALER WHO VERIFIED HAVIN A NUMBER OF FAILURES ON THIS AND NEED TO REPLACE. AGREED PROBABLY NEED TO SEND A BULLETIN TO OWNERS AND RECALL. I BOUGHT MY 2011 SORENTO SX AWD 2 MONTHS AGO AND HAVE HAD NOTHING BUT PROBLEMS WITH IT. THE DEALER HAS ALIGNED THE CAR 3 TIMES FOR PULLING TO THE RIGHT, IT STILL DOES IT. MY BIGGEST ISSUE IS THE VIBRATION AND GROAN SOUND I GET WHEN DRIVING AT 57MPH. THE SOUND IS A RESONATING AND ANNOYING SOUND WHICH GOES UP AND DOWN AND SEEMS TO SUBSIDE AFTER 60MPH AND GET BAD AGAIN AT 80MPH. THE DEALER HAS BALANCED THE NEW TIRES 3 TIMES, SWAPPED THE DRIVE LINE WITH ANOTHER SORENTO AND IT DIDN'T IMPROVE IT AT ALL. THEY PLACED A NEW DRIVE LINE AND IT MADE IT WORSE. I HAVE OPENED A TROUBLE TICKET AND A CASE NUMBER WITH KIA CUSTOMER SUPPORT BUT THEY HAVE SAID THE ISSUE IS AN INHERENT CHARACTERISTIC OF THIS VEHICLE. NOT ACCEPTABLE BY ME. I HAVE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE "PUSH TO START" FAILING IN OCT. '10, THAT WAS FIXED. DEC. 12, 2011 AM I COULD NOT START MY CAR. THE PUSH TO START DID NOTHING. I STEPPED OUT OF THE CAR, STANDING NEXT TO IT AND THE CAR STARTED BY ITSELF, NO ONE PRESSING THE BUTTON. THIS IS SUPPOSE TO BE IMPOSSIBLE AS YOU MUST PRESS THE BRAKE AND BUTTON FOR THE CAR TO START. HOWEVER, THE SYMPTOMS DESCRIBED ARE EXACTLY THE SAME AS I EXPERIENCED ON MY AWD VEHICLE. TRANSMISSION ISSUES. DRIVING AT 30MPH WHEN I NOTICE SUDDENLY THE TRACTION CONTROL AND DOWNHILL ASSISTANCE LIGHTS CAME ON THE DASHBOARD. I TRIED TO TURN IT OFF BUT I COULDN'T, IT JUST WOULD GO AWAY. AT THE NEXT STOP SIGN I PUT THE CAR ON PARK WHEN IT FOR MY SURPRISE IT GOT STUCK, WOULD NOT GO FW OR REVERSE. I HAD TO TURN THE CAR ON AND OFF A FEW TIMES WHEN I WAS FINALLY ABLE TO GET IT TO WORK. THE TRANSMISSION GOT STUCK A FEW TIMES BEFORE AND WHEN I INQUIRED THE DEALERSHIP THEY RAN SOME TESTS AND SAID EVERYTHING IS FINE. AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I FOUND OUT THIS IS COMMON ISSUE ON 2011 KIA SORENTO. SEVERAL CUSTOMERS HAD THE TRANSMISSION REPLACED ONCE, TWICE AND EVEN 3/4 TIMES AND THE SAME THING HAPPEN OVER AND OVER. IT SEEMS TO ME KIA DOES NOT CARE, IT IS A SAFETY HAZARD AND A RIP OFF FOR A $25K CAR WITH LESS THAN 17K MILES. *TR

THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT ALL VEHICLES MADE BY THIS MANUFACTURER COULD BE SHIFTED OUT OF PARK IN THE SAME MANNER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 13,000. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
2011 KIA SORENTO. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO SAFETY RECALL CONCERNING VEHICLE SUNROOF *TGW THE CONSUMER STATED HE RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE IN NOVEMBER 2010. THE CONSUMER STATED HE HAD NOT HAD ANY PROBLEMS WITH EITHER A WATER LEAK OR NOISE SINCE HE PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN MARCH 2010 AND UP UNTIL THE REPAIR SHOP REPLACED THE SUNROOF. ON JUNE 7, 2011, THE CONSUMER TOOK THE VEHICLE FOR A SCHEDULED ONE HOUR REPLACEMENT OF THE GLASS PANEL IN THE SUNROOF. IT DID NOT FIT PROPERLY, WITH A SIGNIFICANT GAP AROUND THE GASKET SUCH THAT ONE COULD INSERT A DOLLAR BILL OR PIECE OF PAPER INSIDE, WITHOUT BENDING IT, AND PRONOUNCED WIND STARTING OCCURRING AT AROUND 25 MPH. THE CONSUMER RETURNED TO THE REPAIR FACILITY TWICE IN THE SAME DAY FOR FURTHER ADJUSTMENT, BUT TO NO AVAIL. THE REPAIR FACILITY INFORMED THE CONSUMER THEY WOULD HAVE TO ORDER ANOTHER GASKET. WHEN THE CONSUMER RETURNED FOR HIS SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT, HE WAS INFORMED THERE WOULD BE A $300 CHARGE TO REPLACE THE SEAL, AND ONLY THE PART WAS COVERED UNDER RECALL. *JB
