ENGINE MAKING A KNOCKING NOISE AND LEAKING OIL WITH NO OIL LIGHT ON TO INDICATE THAT IT'S A OIL PROBLEM. THE VEHICLE WAS SMOKING POSSIBLE BOUT TO CATCH FIRE SPARKS WAS COMING FROM THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS RUNNING AT THE MOMENT

INSIDE DOOR HANDLE POPPED AND I WAS UNABLE TO OPEN THE DRIVER'S DOOR FROM INSIDE THE CAR. THIS ALSO HAPPENED TO THE REAR DOOR AND I NEEDED A DOOR LATCH KIT AND ALSO ON THE FRONT DOOR LATCH KIT HAD TO BE REPLACED. THE SAFETY OR IT IS NOT SAFE WHEN YOU CANNOT OPEN YOUR CAR DOOR FROM INSIDE THE CAR.
The contact owns a 2011 Kia Sorento. The contact stated while driving at night at an undisclosed speed, the contact was noticed while making a slight turn, the driver’s and passenger’s side headlights stopped functioning as designed. The failure also occurred while using the turn signals. The contact had to manually activate the headlights after the failure. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure or determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000. Subsequent to the initial complaint, in December 2021, the car owner, Ed Ruzicka, decided to see if replacing the turn signal/wiper control shaft would fix this problem. I did so at my own expense. The lights no longer blink off. Still this seems to be a manufacturer defect rather than mere wear. This has never happened on any vehicle which I have owned before. I am 70. The concern is that this is dangerous. I believe that it should be addressed.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT YET REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 83,000.
The contact owns a 2011 KIA Sorento. The contact stated that at first, the vehicle would seem as though it would hesitate or choke before acceleration after being idle. Now, while sitting idle the vehicle would suddenly stall. The contact stated that at first, they had to wait approximately 5 minutes however, now about 10 minutes before they are able to restart the vehicle and function as expected. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The contact had not taken the vehicle to the dealer. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 250,200.

THE CONTACT STATED THAT SHE SUSTAINED AN EYE INJURY DUE TO THE FLAMES. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CONTACTED AND WAS ABLE TO EXTINGUISH THE FIRE. THE CONTACT WAS UNAWARE IF A POLICE OR FIRE DEPARTMENT REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A JUNK YARD. THE CONTACT NOTIFIED KIA OF SOUTH AUSTIN (5306 S IH 35 FRONTAGE RD, AUSTIN, TX 78745) AND THEY INFORMED THE CONTACT THAT THEY COULD NOT ASSIST DUE TO THE VEHICLE NOT BEING UNDER A RECALL. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE AND COMPLAINT WAS FILED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS UNKNOWN.
VIBRATING SOUND IN FRONT END
I DROVE MY 2011 KIA SORENTO ABOUT 9:15 AT NIGHT. BY 12:45 AM A PASSERBY HAD CALLED 911 DUE TO MY CAR BEING IN FLAMES. I WAS WOKEN UP TO THE FIRE DEPARTMENT ARRIVING AT MY HOUSE AND MY CAR ENGULFED IN FLAMES. AFTER THE FLAMES WERE EXTINGUISHED, THEY CHECKED IT OVER AND DETERMINED THAT IT HAD STARTED IN THE ENGINE AREA. I BOUGHT THE CAR IN 2017 AND IT CURRENTLY ONLY HAS 120,750 MILES ON IT. THEY INVESTIGATED IT AND DETERMINED IT HAD STARTED ON THE PASSENGER SIDE NEAR THE ENGINE. MY CAR IS A TOTAL LOSS AND IT WAS HEARTBREAKING TO WAKE UP TO THAT AT ALMOST 1:00AM. KIA NEEDS TO GET IT TOGETHER AND TAKE CARE OF MY EXPENSES.*DT
I have a problem with my Kia Sorento since last year and I expensed a lot money with the eng8ne. The motor is broken down. Also, one shop gave me the receipt, 4 guys for $59 because I refuse any repair again. But, the other shop mechanic where I expensed a lot of money does not give me the receipt, inspire of my request they have not given me the receipt yet. I am so embarrassed, I expensed a lot $5500 for the repair. And, another shop too for $500. Thanks
VEHICLE WAS BEING OPERATED AT A SPEED OF 35 MPH WHEN THE RIGHT FRONT STRUT SUFFERED A STRUCTURAL FAILURE. THERE WAS NO IMPACT, STRUT FAILED DUE TO CORROSION. VEHICLE HAS 85500 MILES ON IT.
Both rear door latches on my 2011 Kia Sorento have failed. I previously had to have my mechanic replace the driver door latch which failed, now both rear door latches have failed making it impossible to open either door from the inside or out. Having researched this issue I have found numerous people who have listed this as an issue they have experienced. A technical service bulletin was issued, I believe around 2016, extending the warranty on the door latches to 10 years from the first date of service. I only found this service bulletin while searching for solutions to the problem and the 10 year period has expired. Not being able to open either rear door is a safety hazard. I transport my grandchildren who are all under 5 years of age, and should I be involved in an accident or caught fire while transporting them, or anyone who is riding in the rear seats, it would be difficult to get them out of the vehicle quickly. I do not understand why a recall on this has not been issued as I believe this is an extreme safety issue and it is well documented that this is an issue with many Kia Sorento owners. My cost to repair the driver door latch was just over $800.
Hood opened twice on me while I was driving.
THE PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON FOR NO REASON. I GOT THE CODE PULLED AT A LOCAL SHOP FOR FREE THANKFULLY. THE CODE WAS B1764 OCS MAT DEFECT. NOW BECAUSE IT FAILED FOR NO REASON I HAVE NO AIRBAGS AT ALL. FROM OTHER PEOPLE'S COMPLAINTS IT CAN COST $1,000 TO $3,000 TO FIX. AWESOME. I REALLY LOVED MY SORRENTO TOO.
MY ALTERNATOR WENT OUT AND KIA REPLACED IT, I WAS STILL UNDER WARRANTY WITHIN 15 MONTHS THE SECOND ALTERNATOR WENT OUT ON THE FREEWAY TRAVELING AT 70 M HR THE CAR WITH NO WARNING THE CAR COMPLETELY DIED ON THE INSIDE LANE NO BRAKES, NO GAS, NO LIGHTS, THIS WAS SUCH A DANGEROUS WE COULD HAVE BEEN KILLED I HAD TO PAY OVER 900.00 TO GET THIS REPLACED, I'M CONSTANTLY HAVING TO REPLACE BATTERIES AND ALTERNATORS I'M KNOW FOR THE 3RD TIME HAVING TO HAVE THIS DONE AGAIN
MY HEADLIGHTS KEEP GOING OUT. A FEW WEEKS AGO, I LEFT FOR WORK AT 5AM, TRAVELING ON AN UNLIT ROAD WHEN MY HEADLIGHTS COMPLETELY FLICKER OFF. I HAD TO WAIT UNTIL DAYLIGHT TO GET TO WORK. WHEN I GOT BACK IN AFTER MY SHIFT, THE HEADLIGHTS WORKED AGAIN. A FEW DAYS LATER, THE PASSENGER SIDE HEADLIGHT WENT OUT. I REPLACED IT. A FEW DAYS LATER, IT WENT OUT AGAIN. MY HUSBAND CHECKED IT AND FOUND THE PART THAT THE BULB GOES IN WAS MELTED. NOTHING SEEMS TO WORK, CHANGED BULBS MULTIPLE TIMES, TRIED CERAMIC PARTS, EVEN REWIRED IT. MECHANICS TELL ME IT'S AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE, BUT THEN THEY CAN'T FIND THE PROBLEM WHEN THEY LOOK AT MY CAR. I'VE SINCE FOUND OUT THAT THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM WITH THE KIA SORENTO. THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE FOR ANYONE TRAVELING AT NIGHT. WHY ISN'T THIS A RECALL ISSUE?
THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON AND ALL OF A SUDDEN, I COULDNT ACCELERATE ANY LONGER. IT OCCASIONALLY GOES OFF BUT ANYTIME IT COMES ON, I CANT ACCELERATE AND THE CAR JERKS WHEN CHANGING GEAR
INSTRUMENT PANEL WARNING LIGHTS ALL COME ON DURING DRIVING. SHUT VEHILE OFF AND RESTART AFTER SEVERAL HOUR , RESTART AND THE WARNING LIGHTS ARE ALL OFF. THEY WILL ALL COME BACK ON AGAIN AFTER A WHILE WHEN DRIVING .THIS HAS BEEN INTERMITENT FOR TWO MONTHS
IT STARTED LIKE A LOW SOUND FROM THE ENGINE WHEN I TRIED TO SPEED UP THREE DAYS BEFORE MONDAY. AND THIS NOISE WAS GROWING WHILE DRIVING ON ROAD. THE CAR SLOWED DOWN GRADUALLY AND STOPPED THE ENGINE. THE MECHANIC HELPED ME REACH MY APT AND PARKED AFTER HE CHANGED ONLY THE STARTER, HE SAID ENGINE FAILURE DUE TO DEFEATED BEARING.
RANDOM AND INTERMITTENT DRIVETRAIN SHUTTERING AND VIBRATION - SINCE AUG2019 THE 2011 KIA SORENTO EX AWD HAS EXPERIENCED INTERMITTENT AND SUDDEN SEVERE SHUTTERING AND VIBRATION FROM THE DRIVETRAIN. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO A KIA DEALERSHIP ON 3 OCCASIONS AND THE PROBLEM COULD NOT BE REPLICATED NOR DIAGNOSED. YET THE PROBLEM REMAINS. THE ISSUES HAS RANDOMLY OCCURRED A TOTAL OF 8 TIMES STARTING IN AUG2019 AND MORE RECENTLY IN JAN2020. THE FREQUENCY OF THE SHUTTERING / VIBRATION IS DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE SPEED OF TRAVEL (VIBRATION FREQUENCY SLOWS AS THE VEHICLE SLOWS). ON EACH OCCASION, I HAD TO PULL OVER TO A COMPLETE STOP SINCE THE VIBRATION WAS SO SEVERE. HOWEVER, FOLLOWING A COMPLETE STOP THE VIBRATION AND SHUTTERING WOULD DISAPPEAR WHEN PLACING THE CAR IN DRIVE AND PROCEEDING TO DRIVE AGAIN. I HAVE A 2011 KIA SORENTO WHIHC HAS 136K MILEAGE ON IT. AT 2014 WHILE I WAS ON DEALER FOR REGULAR MAINTENANCE THEY BURNNED MY ENGINE AND REPLACED WITH NEW ONE. CAN HAD 25K ON IT. LAST FRIDAY I WAS DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND MY CAR STARTED TO MAKE SOUND AND SOUND STARTED TO COME FROM ENGINE AND IT STOPPED COMPLETELY. MJAOR ENGINE FALIURE AGAIN AND DELAER NOT WILLING TO CHANGE UNDER WARRANTY. KIA NEED TO ADDRESS THIS ISSUE
THE HEADLIGHTS WILL GO OFF AT SPORADIC TIMES WHILE DRIVING. THIS CONDITION IS FRIGHTENING, PARTICULARLY AT NIGHT SINCE WE LIVE IN A RURAL AREA WITH NO STREET LIGHTS ON MANY OF THE ROADS. IT IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS TO FIND YOURSELF IN TOTAL DARKNESS ON COUNTRY ROADS THAT HAVE DEEP DITCHES ON EITHER SIDE.

The contact stated that the dealer had replaced the front passenger's side and driver's side door handles; however, after the repair, the front passenger's side door handle fractured. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the front passenger's side door handle was replaced at the contact's expense. Additionally, the contact stated that the front and rear passenger's side doors, and the rear driver's side door failed to open from the outside while pulling the doors handles. The contact stated that the steering control buttons, and the cruise control mode had become inoperable. The air bag warning light was illuminated. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds and depressing the accelerator pedal, the vehicle hesitated to respond. The contact also stated that while shifting into park (P), the vehicle made an abnormal clunking sound and the gear shifter moved beyond the park (P) position. The contact stated that the failure occurred intermittently. The contact stated that the interior lights of the vehicle failed to turn off. The ABS, TPMS, traction control, check engine, air bag warning lights, and other unknown warning lights were illuminated. Additionally, the contact received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 23V652000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic); however, the part to do the recall repair was not yet available. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown. VIN tool confirms parts not available.

THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHERE THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE TIMING CHAIN. THE CONTACT CALLED TAYLOR KIA OF TOLEDO (6300 CENTRAL AVE, TOLEDO, OH 43615:419) 842-8811) HOWEVER, THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE AND REFERRED THE CONTACT TO NHTSA FOR ASSISTANCE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 127,000.
A MONTH AGO WHILE DRIVING HOME FROM A DAY OF SHOPPING AND THE DRIVERS SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. I CHECKED THE WIRES UNDERNEATH THE DRIVERS SEAT TO MAKE SURE EVERYTHING WAS STILL CONNECTED THE LIGHT STAYS ON. THE ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON JUST YESTERDAY 12.5.2020. STAYS ON WILL NOT SHUT OFF. I CHECKED THE GAS CAP TO MAKE SURE IT WAS TIGHT THEN WENT TO AUTO ZONE SO THEY COULD USE THEIR DTC. (THE CLERK PUT AN ESTIMATE OF MILES ON MY PAPERWORK AS HE DID NOT GO OUTSIDE TO GET ACTUAL MILAGE.)THE CODE WAS OBD2. I WAS DUE FOR A OIL CHANGE AND TRANSMISSION FLUSH. I GOT THOSE REPAIRED BUT STILL HAVE ISSUES WITH THE LIGHT. THE PAPERWORK STATES ERROR CODE READ P0014 EXHAUST CAMSHAFT POSITION TIMING OVER ADVANCED BANK 1 INDICATES THAT THE BANK 1 EXHAUST CAMSHAFT POSITION TIMING WAS ADVANCED BEYOND LIMITS FOR A PREDETERMINED. OF TIME. THE ONLY THING I NOTICED WAS THAT I DIDN'T EVEN HAVE THE HEAT ON AND THERE WAS NICE AMOUNT OF HEAT COMING THROUGH THE VENTS BUT THE HEAT DIAL WAS ON THE OFF POSITION. THE INSTRUMENT PANEL.
THERE IS BRAKE FLUID LEAKING INTO MY CAR, THE FLUID IS COMING FROM THE BRAKE SYSTEM LEAKING DOWN THE BRAKE PEDDLE AND ONTO MY FLOOR MAT. THE CAR WAS PARKED OVERNIGHT, I NOTICED IT THIS MORNING AND I DROVE THE CAR AND THE FLUID LEAKED ON MY SHOE.
ON DECEMBER 2, 2020 MY KIA SORENTO STARTED MAKING A KNOCKING NOISE. NO ENGINE WARNING LIGHTS CAME ON. I WENT TO GO HEAD HOME FROM WORK ON THE INTERSTATE AND I HEARD A CLANK WHILE I WAS DRIVING MY BRAKES LOCKED IN TRAFFIC THEN ALL THE LIGHTS ON MY DASH CAME ON AND MY ENGINE SHUT OFF IN THE MIDDLE OF TRAFFIC. MY CAR WOULD NOT TURN BACK ON AND I HAD TO CALL MY INSURANCE COMPANY GEICO TO HAVE MY CAR TOWED HOME. VERY SCARY AND VERY DANGEROUS. IT STILL DOESN'T NOT TURN ON WHATSO EVER. I HAVE VIDEOS BUT NOT IN THE RIGHT FORMAT TO OPEN.

THE AIR BAG LIGHT TURNED ON WITH OUR ANY REASON. CAR WON'T ACELERATE, STOP AND GET SPEED IN UNSAFE WAIT ON THE HIGHWAY.
THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE INSIDE, I HAD A SIMILAR PROBLEM WITH THE PASSENGER DOOR ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO. I LOOKED THIS UP AND IT APPEARS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH MANY OF THESE KIA CARS. I AM AFRAID THAT ALL THE DOOR MIGHT DO THIS AND I WOULD NOT BE ABOUT TO GET MY GRANDKIDS OUT OR IF I HAD TO GET OUT IN AN EMERGENCY I COULD NOT EXIT. NOW I HAVE TO ROLL DOWN THE WINDOW AND REACH OUTSIDE THE DOOR TO ACTIVATE THE DOOR HANDLE FROM THE OUTSIDE. MY FEAR IS THIS WILL STOP WORKING AND I WILL BE STUCK IN THE CAR. I AM AN OLDER PERSON SO CRAWLING OVER THE CONSOLE WOULD BE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE. I BELIEVE IT IS A BROKEN DOOR LATCH ON THE INSIDE OF THE DOOR

AIR BAG LIGHT STAYS ON AFTER BATTERY REPLACEMENT. DEALER WANTS OVER 1200.00 TO REPAIR.
I WAS DRIVING TO BAKERSFIELD TO VISIT MY SISTER. ME AND MY GRANDSON WERE ON THE 5 FRWY WHEN MY CAR STARTED LOSING POWER. I PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE FRWY AND WAITED FOR THE TOW TRUCK. MY CAR NEVER STARTED AGAIN. SINCE THEN I HAVE BEEN TOLD THAT IT'S THE MOTOR. MY CAR NEVER HAD ANY PROBLEMS NEVER RAN HOT OR ANYTHING
THE DRIVER SIDE FRONT DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE OF THE VEHICLE. IT IS LIKE THE DOOR IS LOCKED, HOWEVER IT IS NOT LOCKED. IF I AM IN AN ACCIDENT OR NEED TO BE TAKEN OUT OF THE VEHICLE, NO ONE WILL BE ABLE TO OPEN THE DOOR TO GET ME OUT. IT REMAINS THIS WAY AT ALL TIMES; INCLUDING WHEN THE CAR IS STATIONARY AND IN PARK. THERE IS A WARRANTY EXTENSION OFFERED BY KIA, BUT THEY ARE TELLING ME THIS DOES NOT APPLY TO ALL THE VIN'S!
MY SEAT BELT KEEPS LOCKING ON ME. FORTUNATELY, THUS FAR I HAVE BEEN ABLE TO EVENTUALLY GET IT TO COME LOOSE. SOMETIMES IT IS A LITTLE DIFFICULT TO FASTEN. THE TRANSMISSION OR ENGINE TENDS TO STALL IN THE MIDDLE OF DRIVING LIKE NOT CHANGING GEARS, GETS LOCKED, JERKS BACK AND FORTH TILL IT UNLOCKS OR CHANGES GEARS WHILE AT THE SAME TIME SLOWING OR STOPPING CAR IN IT'S TRACKS. RPM GO TO 0. FEEL LIKE A TRANSMISSION SLIPPAGE . SOUNDS LIKE TRYING TO CHANGE GEARS. IT HAPPENS AT LEAST 2-4 TIME A YEAR SINCE I HAVE HAD THE CAR. THESE PAST TWO YEARS THE GEARS LOCKING IS GETTING WORSE AND THE CAR SLOWS DOWN INSTANTLY FROM DRIVING ON THE FRWY 60 MPH DOWN TO 35 MPH INSTANTLY ALMOST HAVING CARS HIT ME FROM BEHIND. SAME FOR DRIVING ON THE STREET GOING 20-40 MPH DROPPING
THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT DOOR WILL NOT OPEN FROM THE OUTSIDE. I HAVE FOUND A LOT OF FORUMS ON THE INTERNET WHERE A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE ARE HAVING THIS PROBLEM. WHAT IF IT WERE TO HAPPEN TO ALL 4 DOORS WITH A KID IN THE CAR?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 30-50 MPH, THERE WAS AN ABNORMALLY LOUD THUD COMING FROM UNDERNEATH THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE LOSS MOTIVE POWER AND WAS GUIDED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROADWAY. THE VEHICLE WAS RESTARTED AND DRIVEN 5 MPH TO THE RESIDENCE. THE CONTACT STATED THAT SINCE THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO EXCEED 20 MPH WHILE DRIVING. THE CONTACT REFERENCED NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 11V258000 (POWER TRAIN) HOWEVER, THE VIN WAS NOT INCLUDED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE FAILURE AND A CASE WAS FILED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 185,000.
I WAS HEADED TO WORK A 10 MIN ROUTE FOR ME ABOUT 3 MILES IN TRAVELING AT APPROX 55 MPH ENGINE STALLED OUT HAD TO PULL OVER AND RESTART THE CAR.THIS HAPPEN TWICE IN A WEEK SPAN.
CAR HAS BUCKED OR STALLED ON AN INTERMITTENT BASIS FOR THE LAST 60,000 MILES (CAR NOW AT 110K) , TO THE DEGREE THAT I WOULDN'T LET MY KIDS USE THE VEHICLE. AS WITH OTHER ISSUES DEALERSHIP CLAIMED 'UNABLE TO RECREATE' LEAVING ME WITH NO FIX FOR A POTENTIALLY FATAL SAFETY ISSUE. CAR HAD SHUT DOWN ON I-84 IN HARTFORD CT, LUCKILY I WAS ABLE TO DO A RESTART QUICKLY. SORENTO MODEL YEAR 2011 HAS VOLUNTARY RECALL FOR COMPUTER ISSUE THAT SOUNDS SIMILAR BUT WAS TOLD ONLY CERTAIN VINS WERE APPLICABLE, WHICH SHOULD BE EXPLAINED AS TO WHY THAT WOULD BE. SEE ATTACHED PDF. BUCKING ON HIGHWAY CAN BE SEVERE, ENGINE LIGHT BLINKS BUT LEAVES NO CODE. DANGEROUS AND MANY INSTANCES ON INTERNET!
HEADLIGHTS (LOW BEAMS) SHUT OFF WHILE DRIVING. OFTEN SEEM TO OCCUR WHEN USING SIGNAL OR AFTERWARDS. LIGHTS OTHER TIMES MIGHT JUST GO OFF BRIEFLY, OR REQUIRE DRIVER TO PUT HIGH BEAMS ON THEN TOGGLE DOWN TO LOW BEAMS. OCCURS OFTEN ON HIGHWAY AND SECONDARY ROADS. MANY SIMILAR REPORTS ON INTERNET. THERE HAD BEEN A WARRANTY EXTENSION FOR LOW BEAM WIRE HARNESS THAT MAY OR MAY NOT BE ASSOCIATED, HOWEVER ANY LOSS OF LIGHTS DUE TO A KNOWN PROBLEM IS CLEARLY A SAFETY HAZARD. KIA HAS A HISTORY OF MINIMIZING ISSUES THAT SHOULD BE SAFETY RECALLS. DEALERSHIP SERVICE AREA CONTINUALLY STATES THEY CANNOT RECREATE ISSUE, OF COURSE THEY ATTEMPT DURING THE DAY LIGHT HOURS.
DOORS ON RECENTLY BOUGH SORENTO WILL NOT OPEN FROM INSIDE OR OUTSIDE. THIS IS A COMMON PROBLEM AND YET KIA HAS FAILED TO ISSUE A RECALL AND THAT LEAVES CONSUMERS STUCK WITH REPAIR COSTS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTIES.
REAR CAMERA GOES BLACK OCCASIONALLY WHEN PUT IN REVERSE
IN 2018, WHILE DRIVING, MY 2011 KIA SORENTO WITH 101,000 MILES, THE ENGINE COMPLETELY STOPPED WITH ZERO WARNING. IT WAS DEEMED AN INTERNAL ENGINE FAILURE AND WHILE KIA HAD A KNOWN ENGINE ISSUE, THEY REFUSED TO INCLUDE MY VIN IN THE RECALL. I PAID OUT OF POCKET TO HAVE THE KIA DEALER INSTALL A KIA SUPPLIED ENGINE. 2 YEARS LATER, WITH 20,000 MILES, THE SAME ISSUE HAPPENED AGAIN. WHILE DRIVING AT 70 MPH, THE ENGINE FAILED. FORTUNATELY I WAS ABLE TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE HIGHWAY AND GOOD SAMARITANS STOPPED TO HELP PUSH ME OUT OF HARMS WAY. AGAIN, KIA WILL NOT COVER THE REPAIRS. FORTUNATELY I COULD SMELL THE HOT ENGINE AND IMMEDIATELY CALLED FOR A TOW RATHER THAN TRY TO RESTART THE ENGINE, AFTER LEARNING THE ENGINES BURST INTO FLAMES.
