ALL THE OIL LEAKED OUT AND THE ENGINE FROZE. I WAS STUCK ON A MAJOR HIGHWAY. THERE WAS A RECALL FOR THIS. I WENT TO THE DEALER AND THEY OFFERED FREE OIL CHANGE THIS WAS WHEN RECALL NOTICE CAME OUT BUT THEY NEVER FIXED THE PROBLEM
DRIVING ON INTERSTATE THE CAR SUDDENLY LOST POWER AND SLOWED DOWN THEN STOPPED. I WAS ABLE TO MOVE OVER AND GET OFF ON THE EXIT AND ROLL DOWN HILL OFF THE ROAD. THIS WAS VERY DANGEROUS. THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT START, HAD TO BE TOWED 80 MILES HOME. MOTOR SEEMS TO BE SEIZED. HAVE HAD NO PROBLEMS WITH IT UNTIL NOW, NO WARNING AT ALL.
THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON AND REMAINED ON. WE TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP TO HAVE IT TESTED. FIRST WE HAD TO PAY A FEE TO HAVE THE DIAGNOSTIC TEST RUN. WE WERE THEN INFORMED THAT THE SENSOR IN THE PASSENGER SEAT HAD GONE BAD AND THE AIRBAGS WOULD NOT DEPLOY WITHOUT US REPAIRING IT. THE COST TO REPAIR IT WAS $2,000 BECAUSE THE ENTIRE SEAT HAD TO BE REPLACED. THAT WAS TWO WEEKS AGO. NOW THE AIRBAG LIGHT IS ON AGAIN.
THE PAINT CHIPPED OFF THE ROOF OF MY PEARL WHITE 2013 KIA SORENTO AND NOW IT IS DELAMINATING FROM THE PRIMER. THIS IS CAUSING RUST. WHEN I DRIVE THE PAINT IS COMING OFF.
DOOR HANDLES FROM THE INSIDE STOPPED WORKING.
WHILE DRIVING ON I 81 IN SHENANDOAH COUNTY VA MY KIA STARTED LOSING POWER, LOWING THE SPEED I COULD DO AND THE RPMS RIGHT IN FRONT OF A SEMI TRUCK. IT HAS HAPPENED SINCE THEN AND ACTUALLY BEFORE THEN BUT WAS NEVER AS SCARY. THE DEALERSHIP HAS NOT BEEN ABLE TO DUPLICATE THE ISSUE OR FIND ANY CODES IN THE COMPUTER.
OVER A PERIOD OF A MONTH ON MULTIPLE OCCASIONS DURING NORMAL DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AND CITY STREETS, THE ENGINE LOST POWER WHILE DRIVING, ONLY ALLOWING ENOUGH DRIVE ABILITY AT SIGNIFICANTLY REDUCED POWER AND SPEED TO PULL OVER. IN EACH OF THOSE INSTANCES, THE POWER WAS RESTORED TO NORMAL AFTER A SMALL PERIOD OF REST. AN OVERLAPPING CONDITION EXISTED DURING THAT SAME PERIOD, IN WHICH ALL POWER WAS LOST TO THE ENGINE AND POWER STEERING, AS THE ENGINE COMPLETELY SHUT DOWN WHILE DRIVING UNDER NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES. IN EACH OF THOSE CASES, THE ENGINE WOULD NOT TURN OVER UNTIL AFTER A PERIOD OF REST OF AT LEAST 20 MINUTES. THERE WAS NEVER AN ENGINE WARNING TO INDICATE AN ISSUE. THE CAR WAS SERVICED AND ASSESSED BY CERTIFIED MECHANICS, BUT NO PROBLEM WAS DETECTED. DURING ONE SUCH INSPECTION WITH AAMCO OF REDLANDS, CALIFORNIA, THE CAR LOST POWER DURING THEIR FINAL TEST DRIVE FOLLOWING A RIGOROUS INSPECTION IN WHICH NO ISSUE WAS IDENTIFIED, AND NEVER REGAINED POWER AGAIN. IT WAS DETERMINED THAT THE ENGINE HAD CEASED WITH 141,335 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. ANOTHER ISSUE REVOLVED AROUND AN ELECTRICAL ISSUE WITH THE DRIVER SIDE HEADLAMP AND TURN SIGNAL. IT CEASED TO WORK WHILE WITHIN THE 100,000 MILE WARRANTY AND WAS FIXED WITHOUT COST. HOWEVER, IT CONTINUED TO FAIL AFTERWARDS AND WAS FIXED MULTIPLE TIMES AT PERSONAL EXPENSE. THE AIRBAG LIGHT HAS ALSO BEEN ON FOR HALF THE LIFE OF THE CAR, AND IS STILL ON AT THIS TIME, BUT THE DEALER REFUSED TO ACKNOWLEDGE IT WAS A WARRANTY ISSUE DESPITE A RECALL ON THAT LIGHT. THEY CLAIMED THAT THE LIGHT WAS TRIPPED DUE TO SOME EMPTY SODA CANS THEY DISCOVERED UNDER THE CHAIR AND WHICH WERE PROBABLY ROLLING AROUND ACCORDING TO THEIR OPINION. THEY STATED THAT THE TRIPPED AIRBAG LIGHT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE RECALL.
AFTER DRIVING THE CAR APPROXIMATELY 25 HIGHWAY MI. AIRBAG INDICATION LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON DASH, WHILE CAR WAS IN MOTION, AND WOULD NOT GO OUT. AFTER ARRIVING AT DESTINATION AND PARKING AND SHUTTING OFF CAR, RESTARTED ENGINE AGAIN STATIONARY, AIRBAG INDICATION LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON DASH UNTIL SEATBELT INDICATION FINISHED FLASHING, THEN TURNED OFF ONLY TO RE-ILLUMINATE AFTER A COUPLE SECONDS AND STAY LIGHT. SHUT OFF CAR, REMOVED AIRBAG FUSE (15A) AND RESTARTED VEHICLE STATIONARY, RESULTED IN INDICATION REMAINING ILLUMINATED THE ENTIRE TIME AFTER STARTING CAR (INSTEAD OF SHUTTING OFF AND COMING BACK ON AFTER SEATBELT INDICATOR SHUT OFF). SHUT OFF CAR, REPLACED AIRBAG FUSE (15A) AND RESTARTED VEHICLE, RESULTED IN INDICATION LIGHT ILLUMINATED ON DASH UNTIL SEATBELT INDICATION FINISHED FLASHING, THEN TURNED OFF ONLY TO RE-ILLUMINATE AFTER A COUPLE SECONDS AND STAY LIGHT. ADDITIONAL INFO: CAR HAS 130K MILES, BUT ENGINE WAS REPLACED AT ~115K UNDER WARRANTY, SO ENGINE IS ONLY ~15K OLD.
WE WERE DRIVING BACK FROM A POST OP SURGERY APPOINTMENT WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT STARTED FLASHING. IT HAS NEVER GONE OFF BEFORE. WE STOPPED AT THE NEAREST AUTO SHOP AND THE CONNECTING ROD BEARING IS BAD IN THE ENGINE AND A WHILE NEW ENGINE IS NEEDED. THIS IS A KNOWN RECALL FOR THIS CAR, MAKE, MODEL, AND YEAR. SOMEHOW IT DOES NOT INCLUDE MY VIN NUMBER IN THE RECALL, BUT WE ARE HAVING THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. I HAVE INVOICES STATING THIS FROM THE AUTO SHOP I CAN EMAIL.
JULY 3, 2020 CAR CAUGHT ON FIRE. ENGINE REPLACE 2017. LESS THAN 40,000 MILES ON NEW MOTOR. 2019 HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP RECALLED. IT WAS INSPECTED AND REPLACED.

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN THE RAIN, THE BATTERY FAILURE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE LOSS POWER STEERING ASSIST. THE STEERING WHEEL BECAME DIFFICULT TO TURN IN EITHER DIRECTION. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WERE NOT DETERMINED. THE LOCAL DEALER AND MANUFACTURER WERE NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 95,000.
I HAVE PAINT PEELING FROM JUST ABOVE MY WINDSHIELD AND ALONG THE SIDE OF THE WINDSHIELD.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN I70 WEST IN MISSOURI I GOT TO MILE MARKER 83.8 AND I HEAR TINK THINK AND AS I'M PULLING OVER I SEE MY CONTROL STEERING LIGHT FLASHING AND ALL SUDDEN BOOM AND THEN NOTHING. WON'T START, WON'T TURN OVER. NOTHING. I WAS DRIVING MY 2013 KIA SORENTO DOWN THE HIGHWAY AT ABOUT 72 MILES AN HOUR. *TR
THE ENGINE SEIZED WHILE I WAS DRIVING. THERE WAS NO WARNING. THERE WERE NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WARNING. THERE WASN'T AN OIL LAMP INDICATING LOW OIL.
I own a 2013 Kia Sorento LX FWD AUTO, granted I bought it USED in June 2020. But every since I've owned my vehicle I've had a problem with my Engine Light being on, the Driver Side Break light keeps going out and the USB and Cigarette Lighter keep Blowing the FUSES. I Love my Truck and I need to know how KIA can help to fix these problems.
REAR MAIN SEAL STARTED LEAKING PROFUSELY AT 40K MILES. VEHICLE HAS BEEN TOWING TRAILER THAT'S 2000LBS BUT HAS TOW CAPACITY OF 3500LBS. CONCERNED THAT THE TOW CAPACITY IS OVERSTATED AS THE REAR MAIN SEAL SHOULDN'T BE A PROBLEM IN A NEWER VEHICLE. LOOKING AT A $1200 FIX FOR A PROBLEM THAT SHOULDN'T HAVE HAPPENED. *TR
WHEN DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY MY VEHICLE STARTED MAKING A CLICKING NOISE AND SEIZED UP MYSELF AND MY TWO CHILDREN WHERE ON THE FREEWAY DRIVING ABOUT 55MPH WHEN THIS HAPPENED, THANKFULLY I WAS CLOSE BY A OFFRAMP TO PULL OFF OF THE FREEWAY TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. THERE WAS NO PRIOR WARNING NO LIGHTS THAT CAME ON, I HAD THE CAR TOWED HOME AND THE BATTERY REPLACED BUT WHEN CAR WAS TURNED ON IT MADE A LOUD KNOCKING NOISE, VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE MECHANIC WHO CAN NOT GET A READING OR DIAGNOSTIC READING FROM THE CAR TO SEE WHAT OR WHY IT SEIZED UP, THANK GOD WE WERE ABLE TO EXIT THE FREEWAY WITHOUT GETTING HIT THIS WAS A TERRIFYING EXPERIENCE AND I CANNOT BELIEVE IT DID THIS, I'VE KEPT UP THE MAINTENANCE AND MY CAR WAS IN GREAT SHAPE, I CONTACTED KIA FOR RECALLS I FIND IT IRONIC THAT NUMEROUS CUSTOMS WITH A 2013 KIA SORENTO AND THE SAME ISSUES YET WE ARE NOT OUSTED FOR THE RECALL UNDER OUR VIN. THIS COULD OF RESULTED IN A DETRIMENTAL LOSS AND NOW I AM BEING TOLD THE ENGINE WAS NOT SUPPOSED TO DO THAT AND THAT THIS SHOULD OF BEEN PART OF THE RECALL, I WILL CONTINUE TO REACH OUT AND TRY TO GET HELP NOW THAT I'M BEING TOLD IT IS SAFEST TO REPLACE THE ENGINE, AT THIS POINT I AM EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE EVEN OPERATING A KIA VEHICLE GIVEN ALL THE RESEARCH I'VE DONE AND HOW MANY ISSUES THEY HAVE AND CONTINUE TO HAVE WITH THE ENGINE, THIS WILL BE MY BIGGEST REGRET PURCHASING THIS VEHICLE ESPECIALLY BECAUSE KIA IS VERY AWARE OF THE ISSUES YET IT DOESN'T SEEM LIKE THEY CARE, AS MANY REPORTS AS I HAVE SEEN WITH THIS IDENTICAL ISSUE ALL 2013 SORENTOS SHOULD OF BEEN REPLACED DUE TO THE ACCIDENTS THAT THE ENGINE CAN CAUSE,A CAR SHOULD NEVER SHUT OFF ON YOU WHEN YOUR DRIVING.
I WAS DRIVING ONE DAY ON THE HIGHWAY AND THE AIRBAG LIGHT CAME ON FOR NO REASON. I WAITED A FEW DAYS TO SEE IF THE INDICATOR LIGHT WOULD GO OUT AND IT DIDN'T. I AM AFRAID IF I GET INTO AN ACCIDENT THE AIRBAGS WON'T FUNCTION PROPERLY.
About 4 years ago the rear view warning started to get foggy/blurred so it was hard to see what was towards the rear when backing. Contacted dealer about this and of course it was no longer in warranty and I would have to pay a high price to have this replaced. After the view became blank, all your saw were the lines that would show how close you were to another car while backing up I once again ask my dealer about it, if they were having trouble like this on other Kia cars and he would not tell me, just told me the price of replacment. So I started to wonder if this problem showed up on other Kia's
ENGINE STARTING KNOCKING/TICKING. CAR THEN STALLED ON THE HIGHWAY. WAS ABLE TO RESTART & DRIVE TO EXIT. CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALER WHERE PER TEST, ENGINE LOCKED UP. DEALER INFORMED NEEDED NEW ENGINE. NOT COVERED BY RECALL AS NOT GDI ENGINE BUT KIA WOULD NOT ANSWER WHY ONLY GDI ENGINE EVEN THOUGH SAME BLOCK(2.4).
2013 KIA SORENTO ENGINE MAKING NOISE LIKE SEWING MACHINE. BROUGHT TO KIA DEALER. AFTER 3 HOURS WAS TOLD NOTHING WRONG WITH ENGINE. TRY HIGH TEST GAS. BROUGHT CAR HOME AND THE ENGINE BLEW. WE TOLD DEALER ABOUT THE RECALL AGAIN THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOUR VEHICLE. IT HAS A GOOD STRONG ENGINE. I HAVE CONTACTED THE DEALERSHIP AND KIA MANUFACTURER. WAITING FOR CALLBACKS. THIS HAPPENED TODAY 6/5/20. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 KIA SORENTO. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE ATTEMPTING TO START THE VEHICLE, THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START. THE VEHICLE WAS JUMP STARTED HOWEVER, THE FAILURE RECURRED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO KIA OF WEST NYACK (250 N. RTE 303, WEST NYACK, NY 10994) TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 112,000.
paint started pealing in 2020 and progressed to many other areas including hatchback and roof
for the past year my car has been losing a lot of oil and i've been replacing the oil not thinking much of it until a couple months ago 3 times right after an oil change I lost all all my oil where there was no oil left on the dipstick and no check engine or oil light has come on telling me that my oil is running out. Twice I had to stop on the side of the road and await for friends to bring me oil because i was afraid to ruin my engine. If I wasn't a person that checks oil a lot I'd have no car. Also on this car when I first got the car I had to replace the transmission and I want to check the transmission but this vehicle don;t have a dipstick. I've been checking all the recalls for this vehicle and called the dealership and all they want me to do is bring the vehicle in and charge me money I don't have. I've been reading that oil consumption is a major problem with this vehicle. I'm afraid I may have damaged my engine and Kia is at fault for not fixing this problem years ago and have warning lights for this problem. Monday I'm going to go to the dealership and speak to someone that may be able to help me. Today I replaced the PVC valve as I understand that may be the cause. No oil leaks from the engine and I don't know where the oil is going and I'm afraid the car will lock up and harm my passengers. It first started around 6/2020 but got worse 1/2021.
The paint on the hood, and top of the vehicle is chipping and peeling in 1-2" spots. No one was put at risk No one has inspected. No warnings or lights- first appeared 18 months ago.

ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON CODE WAS SHOW CAM SHAFT SENSOR NEEDED TO BE CHANGED AFTER CHANGING THE SENSOR ENGINE LIGHT WAS RESET. SAME DAY CODE POPPED BACK ON SHOWING SAME CODE. AFTER TALKING TO MULTIPLE REPAIR SHOPS I AM BEING TOLD TO REPLACE THE COMPUTER AND OR TIMING.
I WAS DRIVING MY CAR AND ALL OF A SUDDEN IT STARTED TO REDUCE IN SPEED, I SAW THE ENGINE LIGHT COME ON, THEN AS I TRIED TO PUSH THE ACCELERATOR THE CARS RPM WOULD NO GO PAST 2, SO I DROVE TO A AUTO ZONE AND RHEY CHECKED THE ERROR, THAT SAID THEY DID NOT KNOW WHAT IT WAS, SO AS I WAS DRIVING HOME THE CAR STARTED MAKING A NOISE AS ID THERE QAS METAL ON METAL, I STOPPED MY CAR AND HAD TO CALL A TOW TRUCK TO BRING HOME, AFTER DOING SOME RESEARCH I FOUND OUT THE CODE WAS FOR SOME BEARINGS.
I PURCHASED THE VEHICLE IN 2017 WITH 60,000 MILES. THE TRUCK JUST HIT 100,000 MILES NOT TO LONG AGO. WHILE LEAVING THE BANK, I ACCELERATED, AND WHILE DOING SO THE TRUCK JUST SHUT OFF ON ME, NO WARNING LIGHTS AND IT DID NOT OVERHEAT. I MANAGED TO GET TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD (THANK GOD BECAUSE IT WAS A BUSY ROAD AND I HAD MY TWO KIDS WITH ME) AND TRIED TO START THE CAR AGAIN AND NOTHING. I HAD THE CAR TOWED TO THE DEALERSHIP THAT I BOUGHT IT FROM WHERE THEY STATED THE ENGINE WAS LOCKED. I STILL OWED MONEY ON THE CAR, SO I HAD TO GET A BRAND NEW CAR WITH MY NEGATIVE EQUITY AND AM NOW STUCK WITH EXTREMELY HIGH PAYMENT. AFTER THE INCIDENT I RESEARCHED ABOUT THE KIA SORENTO S AND SEE THAT MANY PEOPLE HAVE THIS SAME PROBLEM. I HAD ROUTINE OIL CHANGES, BUT BECAUSE THEY WEREN'T AT THE DEALERSHIP THEY STATED THERE WAS NOTHING THEY COULD DO. SOMETHING HAS TO BE DONE ABOUT THIS. ME AND MY CHILDREN COULD HAVE BEEN INVOLVED IN A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT BY THE TRUCK JUST SHUTTING DOWN. I WOULD LIKE TO OPEN A SMALL CLAIMS CASE, AS I WAS PUT IN A BAD PREDICAMENT. *TR
WHILE DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY A CLICKING LOUD CLICKING BEGAN. SEVERAL DASH LIGHTS FLASHED. THE VEHICLE WAS PULLED ON TO THE SHOULDER AND TURNED OFF. THE CAR REFUSED TO START. SEVERAL ATTEMPTS TO JUMP THE BATTERY WERE MADE. THE CAR WAS TOWED TO A MECHANIC WHO DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE AS ENGINE FAILURE, SPECIFICALLY THE ENGINE RAPIDLY CONSUMING THE OIL. *TR
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD WHEN I NOTICED THAT ALL MY WARNING LIGHTS ON THE DASHBOARD WERE COMING ON. ALL OF THEM WERE LIT UP RED AND NOT GOING OFF. THE NAVIGATION AND RADIO SCREEN WENT COMPLETELY BLACK. I NOTICED I WAS LOSING SPEED AND TRIED TO ACCELERATE AND I HAD NO POWER TO ACCELERATE THE CAR. I WAS ON THE INSIDE LANE OF THE FOUR LANE ROAD AND COASTED TO THE MIDDLE MEDIAN ON THE FOUR LANE ROAD TO SAFELY GET MY TRUCK OUT OF ONCOMING TRAFFIC. WITH NO CAPABILITY TO ACCELERATE MY TRUCK TO GET IT OUT OF TRAFFIC THIS OPTION DEEMED TO BE THE SAFEST MANEUVER TO DO. WHEN THE TRUCK FINALLY STOPPED I HAD TO USE THE EMERGENCY BRAKE TO KEEP TRUCK FROM ROLLING. AT THIS TIME I COULD NOT TAKE THE TRUCK OUT OF DRIVE MODE AND PUT INTO PARK MODE. WITH ASSISTANCE MY TRUCK BATTERY WAS TEMPORARILY CHARGED SO I COULD HAVE THE ABILITY TO PLACE THE TRUCK IN PARK MODE. WHEN BATTERY CHARGER WAS DISCONNECTED THE TRUCK WOULD NOT START. MY 2013 KIA SORENTO SX WAS TOWED TO JOEY GRIFFIN KIA IN ROCKY MOUNT NC. TALKING WITH [XXX] IN SERVICE DEPARTMENT HE ADVISED THAT THE ALTERNATOR, BATTERY AND 1 BELT NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THIS WILL BE A $1000.00 REPAIR. I WAS WONDERING IF THE RECALL LISTED IN THE NHTSA 17V224000 COULD BE ASSOCIATED WITH THIS. THE TRUCK IS AT THE KIA DEALERSHIP NOW SO I HAVE NO RECORDS AT THIS TIME. MY 84 YR MOTHER WAS WITH ME AT THIS TIME AND I AM GRATEFUL THAT WE WERE NOT ON THE INTERSTATE AT THE TIME THIS HAPPENED. ENGINE REPAIRED @$ 5,636.00 I JUST COULDN'T PUT A TARP OVER IT. DEALER STATED NO RECALL ON 2.4L MFI PAST LIMITED WARRANTY.

I JUST HAD TO REPLACE THE LOWER BALL JOINTS IN MY 2013 SORENTO SX WITH ONLY 60,000 MILES ON IT. THEY WERE IN BAD SHAPE, AND MADE NOISES WHEN TURNING CORNERS OR GOING OVER BUMPS. BALL JOINTS SHOULD LAST FAR LONGER THAN THIS. I SEE MANY CANADIAN SORENTOS HAD A BALL JOINT RECALL. BRAKES ARE SPONGY, TOO. I HAVE REPLACED THE BRAKES, AND HAD THE FLUID CHECKED FOR AIR, BUT STILL NOT A SOLID FEEL TO IT.

HAVEN'T CONTACTED KIA YET BUT JUST FOUND THIS #, 800-333-4542, WHICH I CAN TRY TO ASK THEM ABOUT THIS SITUATION. DOCUMENTS: I HAVE RECEIPT FROM THE SALVAGE YARD. I TOOK THE CAR TO A LOCAL REPAIR SHOP AND THEY TOLD ME CAM PHASER GEAR WAS LOCKED. I TOOK THE CAR TO THE DEALER AND THEY TOLD ME THAT THE REASON CAM PHASER LOCKED WAS A BAD BEARING ON CYLINDER 3. I WAS ALSO TOLD THE CAR WAS NOT A RECALL LIST AND THAT IT WOULD BE ABOUT 3-5000 DOLLARS TO FIX A CAR ENGINE WIH FAILED BEARINGS ON CYLINDER 3.. THIS CAR HAS ONLY 78K MILES ON IT. THIS SHOULD NOT HAPPEN ON A CAR WITH SO LITTLE MILES ON IT.

I ASKED ALL THE QUESTIONS RELATED TO AN ALTERNATOR ISSUE LIKE DID RADIO TURN OFF LIGHTS GET DIM . NO WAS RESPONSE, SAID CAR WOULD SURGE INCREASING SPEED THEN IF TOOK FOOT OFF ACCELERATOR WOULD DRASTICALLY SLOW DOWN. WHEN APPROACHING STOPLIGHT JUST CUT OFF. NO WARNING NO LIGHTS, WOULDN'T START. THANKFULLY THE TRAFFIC WASN'T HEAVY AND A NICE PERSON HELPED THEM GET IT OFF THE ROAD. HAD IT TOWED HOME THEN TO THE MECHANIC FOR WHAT WE THOUGHT WAS ALTERNATOR ONLY TO GET DISTURBING CALL SAYING THE MOTOR IS SHOT. I HAD THE SAME TOW TRUCK DRIVER PICK IT UP AND TAKE IT TO MECHANIC AND HE KEPT ASKING IF I WAS SURE IT WAS THE ALTERNATOR, HE HAD TOLD ME HE THOUGHT THE ENGINE HAD SEIZED BY HOW IT SOUNDED WHEN HE TRIED TO START IT TO TRY AND POSITION IT BETTER FOR THE ROLL BACK, I HAD HOPE HE WAS WRONG.THERE WERE REGULAR OIL CHANGES DONE AND I HAVE CHECKED MY VIN AGAINST THE RECALL AND ALTHOUGH THE YEAR AND MAKE ARE CORRECT MY VIN IS NOT INCLUDED. I OPERATE A CLEANING SERVICE AND DESPERATELY NEED MY CAR. IN FACT WE WERE SEARCHING FOR MY SON A CAR AS HE HAD GRADUATED AND BECAME EMPLOYED AND NOW INSTEAD OF LOOKING FOR ONE WE'VE GOT TO GET TWO. THE NEXT DAY, HAD IT TOWED TO A SHOP, THE MECHANIC SAID: 'ENGINE IS BLOWN & NO CLUE WHY, THERE'S A HOLE IN THE ENGINE BLOCK & NOTHING YOU COULD'VE DONE TO PREVENT IT, IT DEFINITELY SEEMS LIKE A MECHANICAL DEFECT & IT WAS JUST A MATTER OF TIME BEFORE IT BLEW.' SO IMAGINE MY CONFUSION WHEN MY 2013 VEHICLE'S ENGINE (MAINTAINED PERFECTLY AS I HAD FREE OIL CHANGES THROUGH KIA SO I GOT THEM DONE REGULARLY & IT'S ALL IN THEIR SYSTEM) RANDOMLY BLOWS & MECHANIC HAS NO IDEA WHY. THIS IS OBVIOUSLY A MECHANICAL DEFECT AND KIA SHOULD BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE AND RESPONSIBLE FOR REPLACING THE DEFECTIVE ENGINE ON MY CAR!! ON 02/04/2020 DROVE VEHICLE FOR ABOUT 15 MINUTES AND WHEN I PARKED THE VEHICLE, PUT THE AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION SHIFTER IN PARK, TURNED OFF THE ENGINE AND ATTEMPTED TO REMOVE THE KEY. THE KEY WAS STILL IN IGNITION AND COULDN'T GET KEY TO RELEASE. HAD TO RESTART THE VEHICLE, TOOK SHIFTER OUT OF PARK AND THEN PUT BACK INTO PARK, STRAIGHTENED STEERING WHEEL AND TURN OFF VEHICLE AND WAS ABLE TO REMOVE IGNITION KEY. THIS HAS HAPPENED OVER 15 OR MORE TIMES SINCE OWNING VEHICLE AND I HAVE ASKED LOCAL DEALER WHO PERFORMS ROUTINE MAINTENANCE TO CHECK FOR PROBLEM IN THE PAST AND THEY CANNOT FIND ANYTHING WRONG.
