WHILE DRIVING AT POSTED HIGHWAY SPEED, A NOISE DEVELOPED, SEEMED TO COME FROM THE FRONT OF CAR, PULLED OVER TO CHECK THE SOURCE. SEEMED TO BE COMING FROM THE ENGINE, QUIET AT IDLE, MORE LIKE A KNOCKING SOUND WHEN REVING THE ENGINE ABOVE IDLE RPMS. NO CODES OR WARNING LIGHTS VISIBLE ON DASH BROUGHT TO KIA DEALER FOR DIAGNOSIS.. WAS TOLD THE COMPLETE ENGINE NEEDS TO BE REPLACED, INTERNAL ENGINE PROBLEM. WILL BE COVERED BY WARRANTY. I TRAVEL BY CAR EXTENSIVELY LONG DISTANCES, FORTUNATE IT DIDN;T HAPPEN ON ONE OF MY TRIPS. THIS HAPPENED WHILE SUMMERING IN MASSACHUSETTS. MY HOME IS IN FLORIDA.
I TOOK MY CAR TO THE FRANKLIN KIA FOR A RECALL AND THE GUY ASKED ME WHAT WAS OUT THERE FOR AND I TOLD THEM FOR THE RECALL AND HE ASKED ME WHAT ELSE IS GOING ON WITH THE CAR AND I TOLD HIM MY AIRBAG LIGHT WAS ON MY CD PLAYER WORK SOMETIMES SOMETIMES IT DIDN'T AND MY SPEAK BUTTON WORK AND SOMETIME IT DIDN'T NONE OF THOSE THINGS WORK NOW THE LIGHT IS STILL ON HE TOLD ME THERE'S NOTHING THEY COULD DO I WOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR IT
TL* THE CONTACT OWNED A 2014 KIA SORENTO. AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED FOR FIVE HOURS, THE FUEL TANK CAUGHT FIRE WITHOUT WARNING. THE VEHICLE WAS DESTROYED. NO INJURIES WERE REPORTED. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT CONFIRMED THAT THE FUEL TANK CAUSED THE FIRE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 21,000.
MY KIA SORENTO HAS DELAMINATION.THE CAR PAINT STARTED TO PEEL AWAY 2 1/2 YEARS AFTER PURCHASE. I STARTED TO COMPLAIN TO THE DEALERSHIP AFTER THE WARRANTY EXPIRED SINCE IT STARTED TO GET REAL BAD BUT RECEIVED NO ASSISTANCE. AT ONE POINT THEY TOOK PICTURES BUT THAT WAS IT. I NOW HAVE ALMOST 192,000 MILES AND THEY TELL ME MY WARRANTY HAS EXPIRED. I TOLD THEM THAT I DID CONTACT THEM MANY TIMES PREVIOUSLY AND THE HAVE A FILE ON IT BUT THE DEALER TELLS ME TO CONTACT THE MANUFACTURER.
The paint is chipping significantly in the area on both sides of my windshield and starting to continue down into the rest of the car. I have a snow white car and my research has shown this make, model, year and color has been reported of having the same problems. It really affects the look of the car. This paint chipping has been going on for the last 5 years or so. I purchased this vehicle used but in 2014 and it is a 2014 so I've owned it for 9 years and it continues to get worse and worse.
AS I WAS DRIVING INTO MY DAUGHTERS DRIVEWAY APPROX. 5-10 MPH I HEARD A LOUD POP AND THEN GLASS RAINING DOWN FROM THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF ONTO THE BACK SEAT OF THE VEHICLE. ALL THE WINDOWS AND SUNROOF WERE CLOSED AT THE TIME OF THE OCCURRENCE. ONLY THE REAR PORTION OF THE GLASS ROOF SHATTERED, THE FRONT GLASS REMAINED IN TACK. *TR
DRIVING ON THE FREEWAY THIS MORNING I HEARD A VERY LOUD NOISE AND THEN MY SUNROOF SHATTERED. IT WAS THE BACK PORTION OF THE PANORAMIC SUNROOF AND IT COMPLETELY SHATTERED. SOME SMALL GLASS PARTICLES FELL INTO THE CAR, BUT MOST OF THE GLASS STAYED ATTACHED. I PULLED OVER AND CALLED HWY PATROL THINKING SOMEONE MUST HAVE THROWN SOMETHING AT MY CAR. I WAS NOT CLOSE TO ANY OTHER VEHICLES. MAYBE IT WAS ALREADY COMPROMISED BY A ROCK CHIP OR SOMETHING?? THANK GOODNESS MY BABY WAS NOT WITH ME AS HER CAR SEAT IS DIRECTLY BELOW THE SUNROOF. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALERSHIP AND IT WILL COST $2300 TO FIX. I AM NOW IN A RENTAL FOR 4-5 DAYS WHILE IT IS REPAIRED. *TR
APPROXIMATELY ONE MONTH AGO MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CAME ON (P2098) IN MY 2014 KIA SORENTO EX V6 GDI WITH ABOUT 11,000 MILES ON THE ODOMETER. I TOOK IT IN TO KIA. THEY STATED IT WAS A KINKED WIRE. LAST WEEK, CHECK ENGINE LIGHT RETURNS (P2098). IT WAS CHECKED THIS TIME AND A REASON COULD NOT BE FOUND. A TECHLINE FOLDER WAS OPENED AND IT WAS RESEARCHED WITH KIA ENGINEERS WHO SAID THEY ARE AWARE OF THIS PROBLEM IN OTHER SORENTOS. THEY ARE SEARCHING FOR THE ANSWER TO THE PROBLEM AND I AM TO CONTINUE TO TAKE MY SORENTO TO THE DEALER WHEN THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT TURNS ON SO THAT THEY HAVE A RECORD OF IT. THEY ARE SUPPOSED TO LET US KNOW WHEN A SOLUTION HAS BEEN FOUND SO IT CAN BE REPAIRED. I JUST DON'T KNOW HOW LONG THIS IS GOING TO GO ON BEFORE A FIX IS IN PLACE.

WHEN DRIVING VEHICLE UPON COMING TO STOP WHEN YOU STEP ON BRAKE TO STOP CAR THE SHOULDER STRAP OF SEAT BELT WILL NOT ENGAGE UNLESS A CERTAIN AMOUNT OF PRESSURE IS USED, AND, EVEN THEN IT WILL NOT ENGAGE ALL THE TIME.THE TECHNATION SAID THIS IS THE WAY THE SHOULDER STRAP WORKS.I WORK FOR USPS AND WHEN WE COME TO A STOP I VEHICLES STEAT BELTS LOCK YOU IN PLACE.
AT AROUND 0400 PM WE WERE DRIVING EAST ON HWY 50 ABOUT FIFTEEN MILES OUTSIDE OF PUEBLO CO JUST PAST THE TURN OFF TO THE PUEBLO CHEMICAL DEPOT HEADED TO LA JUNTA. THERE WAS NO TO LITTLE TRAFFIC, WE HEARD A LOUD BANG OR POP THAT SCARED US BOTH AND MADE US DUCK FOR COVER. MY WIFE QUICKLY PULLED TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD WHERE I GOT OUT TO INSPECT THE CAR AND FOUND THE SUNROOF HAD LITERALLY BLOWN OUT, SHATTERED INTO TINY PIECES. THERE WAS NO FOREIGN OBJECTS OR ROCKS, IT JUST SPONTANEOUSLY BLEW OUT. WE DISCUSSED WHAT WE SHOULD DO AS WE WERE A LONG WAYS FROM HOME. WE CALLED THE DEALER AND EXPLAINED WHAT HAD HAPPENED THEY SAID THEY WOULD REPAIR IT UNDER WARRANTY WE JUST NEEDED TO GET THERE. WE TOLD THEM WE WOULD NEED A LOANER AND THEY SAID THEY WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO DO THAT TONIGHT, SO WE HAD TO TAKE IT HOME FOR THE NIGHT AND TAKE IT BACK IN THE MORNING, ONLY PROBLEM WAS THE WIND WAS BLOWING SHARDS OF GLASS AROUND THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR, VERY UNSAFE. WE GET HOME AND FIND OUT ON-LINE THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THIS ON THE SORENTO'S, THIS GUY OBVIOUSLY KNEW OF IT AND DIDN'T OFFER TO HAVE IT TOWED OR TO HELP US WITH A LOANER SO NOW WE WILL HAVE TO HAVE IT TOWED THERE BECAUSE ITS TO DANGEROUS TO DRIVE. ...UPDATED 03-11-15 *BF UPDATED 6/18/2015 *JS
UPON OPENING THE DRIVER'S DOOR, IT HIT MY LEFY EYBROW DUE TO THE UNFINSIHED AND SHARP UPPER RIGHT CORNER OF THE DOOR; I WAS TAKEN TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM AND HAD 9 STECHES

ALSO, THE CONTACT INDICATED THAT THE FRONT PASSENGER'S SIDE ACCENT LIGHT LOCATED ABOVE THE HEADLIGHTS FAILED AND NO LONGER WAS ILLUMINATED. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WERE NOT DETERMINED. THE LOCAL DEALER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES HOWEVER, NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,000.
APPROXIMATELY 5 SECONDS AFTER THE VEHICLE IS INITIALLY PLACED INTO REVERSE GEAR, AND WHILE THE VEHICLE IS LIKELY ALREADY IN REVERSE MOTION, THE BACKUP CAMERA GOES BLACK FOR 2-3 SECONDS (AND CONSEQUENTLY, THE DRIVER IS BLIND) WHILE THE CAMERA IS APPARENTLY SWITCHING ON THE GUIDE LINE OVERLAYS. *TR

AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE BACKED INTO A STEEL POST. THE FRONT PASSENGER HAD TO HELP THE CONTACT SHIFT THE GEAR INTO NEUTRAL IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE FROM ACCELERATING. SUDDENLY, THE VEHICLE ACCELERATED FORWARD INTO A FIELD AT A HIGH RATE OF SPEED WHILE THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED. THE CONTACT HAD TO PRESS THE IGNITION START BUTTON IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE CONTACT SUSTAINED MINOR ANKLE INJURIES, WHICH DID NOT REQUIRE MEDICAL ATTENTION. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC WHO STATED THAT THERE WAS A MANUFACTURED ELECTRICAL CORD THAT WAS CONNECTED TO THE ACCELERATOR, WHICH MAY HAVE CAUSED THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE CODES DID NOT ILLUSTRATE THAT THIS WAS THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED. THE SPEED WAS UNKNOWN. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 12,900. THE SPECS FOR THE ADJUSTMENT OF HID LIGHTS ARE REQUIRING THE LIGHTS BE SET TOO LOW (NOT SHINING FAR ENOUGH) THE ROAD IN FRONT OF THE VEHICLE IS ILLUMINATED FOR A FEW YARDS ONLY, AND THE HIGH BEAM LIGHT SHINES ONLY AS FAR AS THE LOW BEAM OF ME PREVIOUS VEHICLES. THIS IS VERY DANGEROUS IF ONE DRIVES ON A FREEWAY AT THE ALLOWED SPEEDS (IN SOME STATES THIS IS 80 M/H). IN MY INCIDENT I WAS DRIVING ON I 80 IN NEBRASKA AT ABOUT 12 AM AND DID NOT SEE A CHUNK OF TRUCK TIRE LAYING ON THE ROADWAY. I DROVE OVER THE PIECE WHICH SUBSEQUENTLY WAS PROPELLED UNDER MY VEHICLE AND DESTROYED THE PROTECTIVE PLASTIC SHIELD FOR THE BRAKE LINES AND TORE OFF THE FUMES CANISTER OF THE GAS TANK. BOTH COULD HAVE ENDED UP IN A RATHER DANGEROUS CONDITION, AND ONE HAS TO ASK, IS A PLASTIC SHIELD THE PROPER PROTECTION FOR THESE COMPONENTS? THIS WOULD NOT HAVE HAPPENED IF THE HEADLIGHTS WOULD HAVE ILLUMINATED ENOUGH OF THE ROAD IN FRONT OF THE CAR WHICH IN TURN WOULD HAVE ALLOWED FOR AN EVASIVE MANEUVER. *TR
AUG 5 2014 WAS DRIVING HOME ENGINE JUST STOPPED, WHICH MAKES BRAKING AND STEERING VERY DIFFICULT. GOT ENGINE STARTED AFTER A FEW TRIES ,DROVE HOME WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT. CALLED KIA, HAD TOWED TO LOCAL DEALER. DEALER COULD NOT FIND ANY CODES OR PROBLEMS. MILEAGE 9500. ON JAN 7 2015 CAR WOULD NOT START IN PARKING LOT AT WORK. MANAGED TO GET STARTED, DROVE 500 YARDS AND ENGINE QUIT AT A STOP LIGHT. RESTARTED ENGINE, STARTED UP A HILL AND AFTER 500 YARDS OR SO ENGINE QUIT AGAIN. RESTARTED AGAIN CONTINUED HOME WITHOUT INCIDENT. ON JAN 7 2015 LEFT WORK, ENGINE QUIT AGAIN. RESTARTED AND CONTINUED ON. AFTER 8 MILES ENGINE QUIT WHILE TRAVELING UP A SLOPE ON SNOW COVERED ROAD. CAR SLID BACKWARDS INTO A DITCH. RESTARTED AGAIN, PULLED THE CAR FROM DITCH, CONTINUED ON. AFTER A MILE, ENGINE QUIT AGAIN. RESTARTED AND CONTINUED HOME WITHOUT INCIDENT . MILEAGE 14000. CALLED KIA UPON ARRIVING HOME. THEY ARRANGED A LOANER CAR FOR US AND WE TOOK SORENTO TO LOCAL DEALER AGAIN. DEALER PUT 30 MILES ON CAR WITHOUT INCIDENT AND CHECKED COMPUTER FOR CODES. NONE FOUND. KIA ENGINEERING INSTRUCTED THEM TO CHECK ALL GROUNDS. NO PROBLEMS FOUND. KIA ENGINEERING IS CURRENTLY SENDING A DATA RECORDER TO DEALER FOR INSTALLATION ON CAR FOR 30 DAYS TO MONITOR SYSTEMS. HOPEFULLY WE WILL HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM SO DATA RECORDER CAN PICK UP THE PROBLEM. ONLY PROBLEM IS WE ARE SCARED TO DRIVE THE CAR FOR FEAR OF A MAJOR ACCIDENT. KIA DOES NOT SEEM CONCERNED AT ALL ABOUT OUR WELL BEING OR ANYONE ELSE'S SHOULD WE BE IN OR CAUSE AN ACCIDENT. KIA ACTUALLY TOLD US THEY WERE NOT WORRIED ABOUT HYPOTHETICAL SITUATIONS. WAS DRIVING VEHICLE ON FREEWAY WHEN SUNROOF SPONTANEOUSLY SHATTERED, CAUSING A HUGE HOLE & GLASS TO RAIN DOWN INTO CAR. NO ROCK OR ROADWAY DEBRIS WAS OBSERVED TO BE A FACTOR. *TR
My paint has been peeling off my car the year after I got it an iwas told to contact Kia by one of my coworkers when I worked for Kia and was told because I own my car I have to pay for it out of pocket and that is not right. It is a defective paint job done on all pearl white kia's. All the paint peels down to primer and they tried to tell me it was from rocks or pebbles and that is false as well it is with all kia's and it needs to be fixed asap.

THIS A SERIOUS SAFETY ISSUE. PLEASE TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY BEFORE SOMEONE BURNS ALIVE.THE THIRD ROW SEAT IS A DEATHTRAP. IT IS IMMPOSSIBLE TO EXIT THE THIRD ROW SEAT WHEN THE SECOND ROW SEAT IS OCCUPIED. IN CASE OF AN ACCODENT OR EMERGENCY THE PEOPLE IN THE THIRD ROW CANNOT EXIT THE VEHICLE- THEY ARE TRAPPED. IT WOULD ALSO BE ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE FOR EMERGENCY PERSONNEL TO RESCUE THEM IF THE 2ND ROW OCCUPANTS ARE INCOMPACITATED. IF THE VEHICLE HAPPENS TO CATCH FIRE THE THIRDROW OCVUPENTS WILL LIKELY PERISH UNABLE TO EXIT THE THIRD ROW. THIS COULD BE REMEDIED BY REPLACING THE 2ND ROW BENCH SEAT WITH TWO CAPTAINS CHAIRS WHICH WOULD ALLOW AN AISLE TO EXIT FROM THE THIRD ROW. THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER. I HAVE 2 CONVERTIBLE CAR SEATS IN THE BACK SEAT OF MY SORENTO. ONE CAR SEAT IS BEHIND THE DRIVER AND ONE BEHIND THE PASSENGER SEAT, BOTH ARE REAR FACING. THEY ARE SECURED USING THE SEAT BELTS, NOT LATCH, DUE TO WEIGHT LIMITS PER THE CAR SEAT MANUAL. THE SEATBELTS SECURING THE CAR SEATS HAVE BEEN RELEASING ON THEIR OWN WHILE DRIVING, BOTH WHILE MY CHILDREN WERE IN THEIR CAR SEATS AND WITHOUT MY CHILDREN. MOST RECENTLY, I WAS MAKING A LEFT TURN FROM A STOP AT A STOP LIGHT WHEN I HEARD ONE OF THE CAR SEATS SLIDING ON THE SEAT OF THE CAR. I IMMEDIATELY PULLED OVER TO BUCKLE THE SEAT BACK IN. THIS HAS HAPPENED A TOTAL OF 6 TIMES BEHIND THE PASSENGER AND 2 TIMES BEHIND THE DRIVER IN THE PAST MONTH- MONTH AND A HALF. THE CAR SEATS HAVE BEEN IN ANOTHER VEHICLE AND DID NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM. I CALLED KIA 2 TIMES AND TOOK MY CAR TO THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP. THE LOCAL DEALERSHIP HAD A TECHNICIAN BUCKLE THE SEAT BELT AND PULL ON IT. THEY TOLD ME NOTHING WAS WRONG, THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO AND SENT US ON OUR WAY. KIA THEN TOLD ME THAT THERE IS REALLY NOTHING THEY CAN DO EITHER IF THEY CANNOT SEE WHAT IS HAPPENING. I VOICED MY CONCERN ABOUT GETTING INTO AN ACCIDENT AND THIS HAPPENS, WHAT WILL HAPPEN TO MY CHILDREN? THE CAR SEAT ITSELF IS ONLY SAFE IF PROPERLY SECURED IN THE CAR. LEFT 2014 SORENTO SXL AT AIRPORT PARKING AND FLEW TO ANOTHER CITY FOR ONE WEEK. CAME BACK TO FIND VEHICLE WILL NOT START. BATTERY WAS DEAD. I SPRAINED MY BACK TRYING TO OPEN THE SUV TRUNK FROM INSIDE AS THERE WAS NO POWER AVAILABLE TO RELEASE THE TRUNK LOCK. FIVE (5) SIMILAR EVENTS HAVE HAPPENED TO ME, ONE OF THEM AT THE KIA DEALERSHIP AND THEY HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO FIND THE CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM. THE FRONT PASSENGER AND THE THE TWO BACK DOOR AS WELL AS THE BACK (ENTRY TO CRGO AREA) LOCKS DO NOT OPEN WITH ANY DEVICE....ONLY THE DRIVERS DOOR UNLOCKS., THE AFOREMENTIONED HAVE TO BE OPENED BY HAND.. THEY DO CLOSE WHEN THE KEY IS IN IGNITION AND THE DRIVE OR REVERSE IS ENGAGED, BUT THEY DO NOT REOPEN WHEN PRESSING OPEN LATCH AT DRIVERS SIDE., THIS COULD BE A SAFETY PROBLEM WHEN ONE NEEDS TO OPEN THE DOOR FROM INSIDE OR OUTSIDE. HAD VEHICLE CHECKED AT KIA DEALER IN MISSISSIPPI AND WAS TOLD THAT ALL THREE ACTUATORS WERE GONE AND THAT DRIVERS WAS ON THE WAY OUT. THIS TO ME IS A TOTAL DEFECT....MANY CONSUMER COMPLAINTS HAVE BEEN ADDRESSED ABOUT DOOR LOCKS ON SOME KIAS. THERE IS NO REASON FOR 3 TO GO OUT AT THE SAME TIME. THE CAR IS NOT IN WARRANTY AND THE COST TO REPAIR WAS OVER $800.00 I BELIEVE THAT THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM AND THAT KIA SHOULD HAVE TO PAY FOR THE WORK.

CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO THE DRIVER SEAT, ACCELERATOR AND BRAKE PEDAL ISSUES. *SMD THE CONSUMER STATED THE VERY LARGE SEATS WERE A PROBLEM FOR HER, AS THEY WERE HARD TO ADJUST. THE DISTANCE BETWEEN THE DRIVER'S SEAT AND THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, IN THE MOST FORWARD AND HIGHEST SEAT POSITION, WAS SO GREAT, SHE WAS ONLY ABLE TO ENGAGE THE PEDALS WITH HER TOES. THE CONSUMER STATED SHE COULD BARELY SEE THE HOOD AND COULDN'T SEE OR DISTANCE THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. THEREFORE, SHE WAS FORCED TO USE BOTH A MANUFACTURER'S VEHICLE SEAT CUSHION AND A THICK CHAIR CUSHION UNDERNEATH THAT, TO BE ABLE TO RAISE HER BODY UP AND CLOSER TO THE DASH. ALSO, THERE WAS AND CONTINUES TO BE A SUBTLE, CHIRPING, RHYTHMIC SOUND COMING FROM THE DRIVER'S SIDE FRONT TIRE OR WHEEL WELL. THE SERVICE TECHNICIAN STATED HE DID NOT HEAR A NOISE. THE TRACTION LIGHT ILLUMINATED. THE CONSUMER DISCOVERED THE TIRES HAD NO TRACTION, AS THEY DID NOT GRIP THE ROAD PROPERLY. ILLUMINATION IS FINE AT NIGHT OR IN VERY SHADED AREAS (IE GARAGE). SEEMS AS IF INSTRUMENT ILLUMINATION REDUCES BASED ON AMOUNT OF INTERIOR LIGHT, EVEN WITH ILLUMINATION DIAL ON MAX. NOT WEARING SUN GLASSES AND HAVE TRIED MULTIPLE COMBINATIONS OF HEADLIGHT/DTRL IN AN EFFORT TO FIND A WORKABLE SOLUTION. DEALER SERVICE SAYS "WORKING AS DESIGNED". THIS IS A MAJOR SAFETY FLAW AS ONE CANNOT READILY DETERMINE THEIR SPEED WITHOUT TAKING THEIR EYES OFF ROAD FOR TOO LONG A PERIOD OF TIME. IN ITS CURRENT STATE THIS CAR IS UNSAFE TO DRIVE.

ON JANUARY 2014, I BOUGHT A KIA SORENTO, 2014. ON THE SAME DAY I NOTICE A STRANGE NOISE ON THE ENGINE. I TOOK THE CAR BACK TO MEDINA AUTO IN CAGUAS, PUERTO RICO (DEALER) AND THEY SAID THAT THE NOISE WAS DUE TO THE GDI MOTOR TYPE. I TOOK THE CAR SEVERAL TIMES BACK THE DEALER, WITH THE SAME FEEDBACK. "THE NOISE IS DUE TO THE GDI MOTOR TYPE". MY WIFE TOO THE CAR BACK TO MEDINA AUTO FOR IT FIRST OIL CHANGE AND I AGAIN ASK TO CHECK THE STRANGE NOISE ON THE ENGINE... THEY IMMEDIATELY SAID TO HER THAT THE NOISE WAS BECAUSE THE ENGINE TYPE (GDI). THEY CALL MY WIFE TO PICK THE CAR AS IT WAS READY. I WENT WITH MY WIFE TO THE DEALER TO PICKUP THE CAR, BECAUSE THAT NOISE WAS NOT RIGHT. WHEN I GET TO THE DEALER, THEY TOLD ME THE SAME THING. THE NOISE IS DUE TO THE GDI ENGINE TYPE. I REQUEST THAT BEFORE I TURN THE CAR ON, A MECH TECHNICIAN BE WITH ME AND THAT HE PERSONALLY CONFIRM THAT THE NOISE WAS THE GDI. WELL THIS TIME THEY FOUND THAT THE ENGINE BLOCK WAS BAD AND IT HAD TO BE REPLACED... IF IT WASN'T FOR ME, THAT I PUSH THEM TO RE-INSPECT THE NOISE, MY WIFE COULD IT BE DRIVING THE CAR AND I WONDERING WHAT COULD IT HAPPEN TO HER.. AFTER REQUESTING THE REPLACEMENT OF THE UNIT WITH A NEW CAR AND SINCE I NOTIFIED SEVERAL TIMES MEDINA AUTO OF THE NOISE, THE DEALER REFUSED TO REPLACE THE CAR WITH A NEW UNIT AND ONLY OFFERS TO FIX THE ENGINE. WE WERE DRIVING ON INTERSTATE 540 N, 70 MPH, NORMAL DRIVING CONDITIONS, AND LIGHT TRAFFIC WHEN THE SUNROOF EXPLODED. IT SOUNDED LIKE WE HAD BEEN HIT BY ANOTHER VEHICLE OR SOMETYPE OF EXPLOSION. I IMMEDIATELY LOOKED IN THE REAR VIEW MIRROR TO SEE A LARGE PIECE OF DARK GLASS FLYING OFF FROM THE TOP OF MY CAR. THE INSIDE SHADE WAS CLOSED, NO GLASS ENTERED INSIDE THE VEHICLE. WE PULLED OFF AT THE ROAD AND DISCOVERED A LARGE HOLE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE FIRST SUNROOF. THE REMAINING PORTION OF THE FIRST SUNROOF IS SHATTERED. WE WERE NOT FOLLOWING A VEHICLE, I DO NOT BELIEVE THIS WAS CAUSED BY A ROCK OR ROAD DEBRIS. THE OTHER PARTS OF THE GLASS ROOF SEEM OK, THIS WAS JUST THE SUNROOF THAT IS OVER THE FRONT SEATS. *TR

I BOUGHT A 2014 KIA SORENTO IN NOV. 2013. 2MONTHS I STARTED HAVING ISSUES WITH THE DOOR LOCKS NOT WORKING PROPERLY AND THE BLUE TOOTH. I TOOK IT TO THE DEALER FOR SERVICE AND TOLD THEM ABOUT IT AFTER 3-4 TRIPS AND BEING TOLD EACH TIME THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG THEY FOUND THAT THE RADIO SYSTEM WAS BAD. STILL NOTHING WRONG WITH THE DOOR LOCKS NOT UNLOCKING. THEN A FEW WEEKS LATER I STARTED HAVING PROBLEMS WITH IT STARTING, AGAIN 3-4 TRIPS OF BEING TOLD NOTHING WAS WRONG THEY SAID YOU HAVE A BAD BATTERY! I STARTED GETTING A WARNING FROM THE UVO SYSTEM IN NOVEMBER 2014 THAT I HAD A TRANSMISSION ISSUE TOOK IT TO THE DEALER AND EVEN THOUGH A TECHNICIAN SAW THE WARNING ON THE SCREEN AND THAT THE ENGINE LIGHT WAS ON THEY SAID THE GAS CAP MUST HAVE BEEN ON WRONG CAUSING THE WARNING AND THE TRANSMISSION TO STALL AND BE SLUGGISH, ALONG WITH CAUSING THE BLUETOOTH NOT TO RESPOND, AUTOMATIC DOOR LOCKS NOT TO RELEASE,BACKUP CAMERA BEEPS WHEN THERE IS NOTHING BEHIND ME, THE AUTOMATIC WINDOW ON THE DRIVERS SIDE TO NOT ROLL UP. IT WAS FOUND THAT THE TRANSMISSION WAS GOING OUT AND WAS REPAIRED AT THE NICHOLASVILLE STORE, HOWEVER IT HAS NOT TAKEN CARE OF THE ISSUES, THE DOORS WILL NOT UNLOCK AND THE UVO SYSTEM CONTINUES TO SEND EMAILS TO THE DEALER THAT THERE IS AN ISSUE. I HAVE ALSO HAD TO REPLACE A HEAD LIGHT BULB, BRAKES ARE RUBBING. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH THE KIA CORP ANALYSTS SPENCER WITH NO RESULTS AT THIS POINT. I HAVE SPOKEN WITH THE GENERAL MANAGER OF THE NICHOLASVILLE KY DEALER DURING OUR CONVERSATION HE SAID TO ME TO BRING MY CAR TO THE DEALER THEY WOULD BE GLAD TO CHECK IT. I ASK IF THERE WAS ANY WAY WE COULD WORK SOMETHING OUT SO THAT THEY COULD COME TO ME AND GET THE CAR. 2014 KIA SORENTO EX was manufactured w/ poor to very low headlights. The required bulb for the standard headlights is the H7 bulb on this vehicle... It is NOT ACCEPTABLE and the driver cannot see with any distance at all and turning is a complete hazard and accident waiting to happen as the lightning is so poor you can't see anything when turning. I have studied, reviewed, read and worked to try and ensure we got the best possible light and there simply is a poor electrical wiring design for this specific vehicle. I adjusted the Headlights UP as far as I could and it still made no difference at all in my viewing field. How could the NHSTA allow KIA to get away with coming to market w/ these POOR Headlights? We have to drive around at night now w/ the High Beams On at all times in order to see properly. That is unacceptable! The Driver should not have to purchase an LED Bright Light Kit and have to Re-Wire the vehicle because of being provided a lightning system that doesn't work and is an extreme danger. KIA should have to recall every single one of these vehicles and provide " sufficient " lighting that meets SAFETY protocols for headlights and the field that is to be illuminated. How is nobody aware of this and why hasn't it been addressed? It's outrageous and I've never heard of any vehicle having to use High Beams to see driving down a straight road let alone in heavy traffic and or or on a winding road. Is anyone listening and or are Safety Standards now a thing of the past. Shame on KIA, they know of the problem and have done NOTHING to correct it. KIA Brake Speed Sensors fail routinely and should also be a RECALLED Item. We've had all of the Brake Speed Sensors fail on the vehicle and now we've had to pay out of our pocket to replace these faulty items. It's ridiculous....they were covered under warranty until 60k but that is NOT sufficient! There has been about three (3) separate recalls for this vehicle relating to brake issues.

IN BRIGHT SUNLIGHT IT IS EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO SEE THE SPEEDOMETER NEEDLE. THE NEEDLE IS DARK RED AGAINST A DARK BLACK BACKGROUND. ADDITIONALLY IT IS ONLY ABOUT 1/2" IN LENGTH. IF THERE IS ANY AMBIENT LIGHT STRIKING THE INSTRUMENT CLUSTER AT AN ANGLE, THE REFLECTION MASKS THE ABILITY TO SEE THE NEEDLE. NOT HAVING AN ACCURATE INDICATION OF YOUR SPEED IS A VERY DANGEROUS SITUATION. *TR
THE TWO REAR, FIXED WINDOWS LEAKED WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS IN A TOUCHLESS CARWASH. THE DEALERSHIP AND SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAVE BEEN NOTIFIED AND ARE HAVING A GLASS EXPERT INSPECT THE TRIM AND SEAL. THE CAUSE OF THE LEAKS IS CURRENTLY UNKNOWN. *TR
SINCE BUYING THE 2014 KIA FWD 4-CYL VEHICLE, I HAVE HAD ABOUT 5 INSTANCES WHERE THE CAR WOULD NOT START AFTER I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AND THEN THE IGNITION SWITCH. KIA AND HYUNDAI HAD BRAKE SWITCH ISSUES IN MODELS CIRCA 2011 AND EARLIER, BUT I COULD NOT FIND ANYTHING ABOUT WHETHER KIA FIXED THE PROBLEM IN SUBSEQUENT MODEL YEARS. DURING MY INCIDENTS I HAVE REPEATED THE ABOVE STEPS TRYING TO START THE NON-RESPONSIVE VEHICLE UNTIL IT INEXPLICABLY STARTED UP; TOOK OVER 10 RE-TRIES EACH TIME THIS PROBLEM OCCURRED.
