TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 KIA SOUL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE STEERING EMITTED A CLICKING SOUND WHEN TURNED TO THE LEFT OR RIGHT WITH AN ABNORMAL VIBRATION. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO (DELAND KIA LOCATED AT 2322 SOUTH WOODLAND BOULEVARD, DELAND, FLORIDA, 32720, (866) 809-7175, TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO A FAILURE IN THE STEERING COUPLER. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 35,162.
ENGINE LITE WHEN ON. GOT A RECALL NOTICE. HAD RECALL PERFORMED. RECALL STATE THAT IF DAMAGE WAS DONE TO CATALYTIC CONVERTER IT WOULD ALSO BE REPLACED. A FEW MONTHS LATER AFTER RECALL PERFORMED ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON SAYING CATALYTIC CONVERTER PROBLEM. THEY SAY I NEED TO PAY $2000 TO GET FIXED. I BELIEVE IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPLACED AT TIME OF RECALL.
WAS DRIVING MY 2013 KIA SOUL AND IT THREW A ROD AND MY ENGINE LOCKED UP. I FOUND OUT THAT THERE WAS A RECALL ON THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER. DEALERSHIP SAID THEY TRIED TO RUN A DIAGNOSTIC AND IT SAID ENGINE FAILURE AFTER THEY REPLACED THE RECALLED CATALYTIC CONVERTER.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 KIA SOUL. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE TURNING IN EITHER DIRECTION THERE WAS AN ABNORMAL NOISE WAS COMING FROM THE FRONT OF THE VEHICLE. ADDITIONALLY, ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS THE VEHICLE FAILED TO START AND THE BATTERY POWER WAS DRAINED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE BATTERY WAS NOT DEFECTIVE. THE CAUSE OF THE FAILURES WERE NOT DETERMINED. THE LOCAL DEALER HOLLYWOOD KIA LOCATED AT (6011 PEMBROKE RD. HOLLYWOOD FL) WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURES. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 43,000. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

I BEGAN HEARING A LOUD KNOCKING SOUND WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I STOPPED AT A PEP BOYS AND THE TECH TOLD ME I SHOULD BE FINE TO GET HOME. AFTER SOME TIME ON THE ROAD MY ENGINE LIGHT BEGAN TO FLASH AND THE OIL LIGHT WAS ON AS WELL. I WAS ABLE TO GET THE CAR OFF THE NEAREST EXIT AND INTO A PARK AND RIDE PARKING LOT. THE CAR AT THIS POINT WAS SMOKING. I BEGAN TO GATHER MY THINGS THEN I SAW FLAMES APPEAR UNDER THE HOOD. THAT'S WHEN I EXITED THE VEHICLE. THE CAR WAS ENGULFED IN FLAMES WITHIN FIVE MINUTES. I LOST 2 IPADS AND MY IPHONE. BUT WE MADE IT OUT SAFELY! A GOOD SAMARITAN FOLLOWED US OFF THE HIGHWAY. HE HAS DASH CAM OF MY CAR THAT SHOWS A SPARK GO OFF UNDERNEATH THE CAR WHILE WE WERE STILL ON THE ROAD.
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2013 KIA SOUL. WHILE DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 55 MPH, THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED CONTINUOUSLY AND THEN FLASHED. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE STARTED TO SHUDDER AND LOST POWER WITHOUT STALLING. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO BROWN'S MANASSAS KIA (9030 LIBERIA AVE, CITY OF MANASSAS, VA 20110, (703) 331-8080) WHERE IT WAS DIAGNOSED THAT THE ENGINE NEEDED TO BE REPLACED AT THE COST OF $7,480. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. PRIOR TO THE FAILURE, THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V120000 (ENGINE, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS CONTACTED AND PROVIDED CASE NUMBER: 13438127. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 82,178. *LN*JB
ENGINE STARTED HARD IN DRIVEWAY AND LACKED PERFORMANCE WHEN STARTING DOWN THE STREET. HOPED IT WAS A POSSIBLE DAMP CONDITION THAT MORNING AS IT NEVER HAPPENED BEFORE AND I CONTINUED OFF FOR WORK. AFTER NEARING WORK, IT DID NOT CORRECT ITSELF SO WHEN I GOT TO WORK I TOOK THE DAY OFF TO GET IT TO THE DEALER. UPON RESTARTING IT WAS THE SAME HOWEVER AT THE FIRST STOP IT STALLED AND WOULD NOT RESTART. KEPT TRYING FOR 10 MIN AND IF FINALLY STARTED AND I DROVE IT TO THE DEALER. AFTER A COUPLE DAYS THE DEALER STATED IT NEEDED A NEW ENGINE AS THE TIMING WAS OFF BY 4 DEGREES. THIS CONDITION MADE THE CAR EXTREMELY DANGEROUS FOR LACK OF POWER AND OTHERS PASSING BUT I NEVER DREAMED IT WOULD NEED THE ENGINE REPLACED. BYERS KIA IN LEWIS CENTER, OH SERVICE DEPT HAS NOT GIVEN ME ANY INFORMATION ON WHAT HAPPENED AND WHY AND HAS NOT GIVEN ANY FURTHER FOLLOW-UP IN 3 WEEKS!
My whole engine will shake and it turns off randomly when stopped. Also, while car is on it will shake the engine which causes it to shake the whole car. My car will shake so bad I have to put my foot on the break hard for it not to move while the jumping is happening.
VEHICLE BEGAN MAKING A NOISE AND SEEMINGLY NOT GETTING GAS ANYMORE AND CAME TO A COMPLETE STOP RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF RUSH HOUR TRAFFIC.. I TRIED STARTING IT AND IT WOULD NOT START UNLESS I PUMPED THE GAS PETAL, WHICH SENT PLUMES OF WHITE SMOKE AND AWFULLY STRONG GAS ODOR. THE CAR DID THIS ALL THE WAY HOME. I CALLED A MECHANIC AND HE DID A DIAGNOSTIC TEST ON IT AND SAID IT WAS CAUSED BY ONE OF TWO SENSORS. THREE MECHANICS SAID THE VEHICLE COULD HAVE CAUGHT ON FIRE AND POSSIBLY EXPLODED WHILE I WAS DRIVING IT BECAUSE IT WAS DUMPING FUEL ON THE ENGINE. THEY SAID HAD THERE BEEN ONE SPARK FROM THE SPARK PLUGS THAT MY CAR WOULD HAVE MOST LIKELY BLOWN UP. I AM SCARED TO DRIVE THIS CAR NOW AND I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO AT THIS POINT.

THE CONTACT WAS ALSO INFORMED THAT METAL SHAVINGS WERE FOUND IN THE ENGINE. THE KNOCK SENSOR WAS REPLACED AND THE ECM WAS REPROGRAMMED. THE ENGINE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT INCLUDED IN NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V120000 (ENGINE, ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING). THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 116,700. THE VIN WAS NOT AVAILABLE.

THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO HUFFINES KIA CORINTH (5150 INTERSTATE 35 E, DENTON, TX 76210) TO BE REPAIRED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V120000 (ENGINE, ENGINE COOLING) IN MARCH OF 2019. ON APPROXIMATELY OCTOBER 28, 2019, THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE VEHICLE HAD A ROUGH IDLE AND HESITATED TO ACCELERATE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC TO BE DIAGNOSED AND A CODE FOR THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER APPEARED. IN ADDITION, THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS CONSUMING AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF OIL AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR WAS ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT TAKEN BACK TO THE DEALER. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT NOTIFIED OF THE RECURRENCE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 136,000.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED PER THE RECALL. WHILE THE VEHICLE WAS PARKED IN A PARKING LOT FOR APPROXIMATELY 25 MINUTES, THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED BY A PEDESTRATIAN THAT THE VEHICLE WAS ON FIRE. THE CONTACT'S HUSBAND EXTINGUISHED THE FIRE WITH WATER. THE FIRE DEPARTMENT WAS CONTACTED AND A REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED AND DEEMED TOTALED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. IN APRIL 29, 2019 HAD SAFETY RECALL (NHTSA RECALL #19V120) WORK DONE ON MY 2013 KIA SOUL FOR THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER, NOW FIVE MONTHS LATER MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMES ON. I HAVE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT CHECK OUT AT AUTO ZONE AND O REILLY AUTO STORE, THE CODE ERROR READING P0420 CATALYTIC CONVERTER FAILING. I CONTRACT KIA DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT IN HOUSTON, TEXAS. THE SERVICE ADVISOR INFORMED ME, 'THAT SINCE I HAVE 100K ON THE 2013 KIA SOUL THE CAR CATALYTIC CONVERTER IS NOT COVERED. I WILL HAVE TO PAY OUT OF POCKET FOR REPAIR OF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER.' I WAS ALSO TOLD BY SERVICE ADVISOR, THE SOFTWARE (CATALYTIC OVERHEATING PROTECTION) UPGRADE ONLY FOR THE RECALL. SERVICE ADVISOR STATED 'SUPPOSEDLY NOTHING WAS FOUND ON THE DIAGNOSTIC PROGRAM FOR THE SOFTWARE UPGRADE.' I EXPLAINED TO SERVICE ADVISOR WENT IN BROUGHT MY 2013 KIA SOUL FOR THE RECALL, THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT WAS NOT ON AT ALL. SERVICE ADVISOR INFORMED ME THAT NEED THE CONTACT KIA MOTOR. I SEND AN EMAIL THE KIA MOTOR COMPANY ON THE RECALL PROBLEM. ON OCTOBER16, 2019, THE KIA MOTOR REPRESENTATIVE CONTRACT ME ABOUT THE RECALL PROBLEM. THE KIA MOTOR REPRESENTATIVE STATED 'I HAVE TO PAY FOR THEM TO CHECK THE RECALL DIAGNOSTIC PROBLEM. THE KIA LOCAL DEALERSHIP IS NOT APART KIA MOTOR COMPANY. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE REPAIRS". IT JUST FUNNY THOSE FIVE MONTHS GO BY AND ALL OF A SUDDEN THERE IS A PROBLEM. I HAVE BEEN LOYAL KIA CUSTOMERS FOR SOME TIME, UNTIL NOW. THEY WILL NOT CHECK OUT THE RECALL PROBLEM OF FREE.
STEERING IS SHAKING AND REQUIRING NEED TO TURN WHEEL MORE THAN USUAL TO TURN WHEN DRIVING. MAKING NOISE WHEN DRIVING.
I TOOK MY VEHICLE TO KIA FOR TWO RECALLS AND A PERFORMANCE ISSUE WITH THE ENGINE; SPECIFICALLY, A LOSS OF POWER AND INCREASED OIL CONSUMPTION. KIA PERFORMED AN ECU UPGRADE AND REPLACED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER RELATED TO RECALL# SC176. THE RECALL ALSO IDENTIFIES INTERNAL ENGINE DAMAGE TO THE PISTONS THAT RESULT FROM OVERHEATING CAUSED BY HIGH CATALYTIC CONVERTER TEMPERATURES WHICH WAS ADDRESSED BY THE ECU UPGRADE. I INQUIRED ABOUT COVERAGE FOR THE DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE; HOWEVER I WAS TOLD THAT THE ENGINE DAMAGE WOULD NOT BE COVERED BY KIA. AN OIL CONSUMPTION TEST WAS PERFORMED AND KIA DOCUMENTED THAT 1 QUART OF OIL HAD BEEN CONSUMED IN THE 1,000 ELAPSED MILES (WHICH EXCEEDS THE MANUFACTURER'S SPECIFICATION FOR NORMAL RATE OF CONSUMPTION), I WAS TOLD THAT THE ENGINE WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED, AND KIA WOULD NOT COVER THE COST. I WAS VERY SURPRISED AS THE ISSUES THAT I AM HAVING WITH THE CAR ARE EXACTLY THE VERY SAME ISSUES DESCRIBED IN THE RECALL.
STEERING WHEEL MAKES CLICKING SOUND WHEN STEERING AND ALSO WHILE VEHICLE IS NOT.IN MOTION. AFTER MUCH RESEARCH, I BELIEVE IT IS THE STEERING COUPLER WHICH IS VERY DANGEROUS TO DRIVE DUE TO THE CHANCE OF STEERING WHEEL LOCKING UP WHILE DRIVING. I SHOULD NOT HAVE TO PAY FOR THIS SINCE MANY OTHER PEOPLE ONLINE ARE REPORTING THE SAME EXACT PROBLEM. I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE, BUT I AM SCARED OF DRIVING MY CAR IF IT IS NOT FIXED RIGHT AWAY. THIS IS A HAZARDOUS PROBLEM AND IT NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED.
STARTED WITH A CLUNK SOUND, THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN THE VEHICLE WOULD NOT STEER. I WAS IN A MASS OF TRAFFIC SO MY SPEED AT THE TIME WAS SLOW AND I WAS ABLE TO DRIFT ONTO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD LUCKILY. DEALERSHIP TELLS ME THE VIN IS NOT IN THE RECALL, BUT I SEE THIS SAME PROBLEM RECALLED HALF A MILLION TIMES. THEY WILL NOT FIX THE ISSUE, WHICH COMES AT A TUNE OF $1600.
THE VEHICLE PRESENT A GRINDING NOISE WHILE STEERING ON ANY DIRECTION. WHILE GETTING IT CHECKED AT THE LOCAL KIA DEALERSHIP THEY DIAGNOSED THE ISSUE ON THE STEERING WHICH WAS APPARENTLY PART OF A RECALL FROM KIA, A FEW DAYS LATER THE ISSUE ON THE STEERING WAS PRESENT AGAIN AND THE LOCAL KIA DEALERSHIP IS NOW CHARGING ME AROUND 1,900 DOLLARS FOR THE REPAIR EVEN THOUGH IT ALL STARTED TROUGH A MANUFACTURER RECALL..
THE STEERING WHEEL COUPLER HAS BECOME LOOSE, CREATING A SOUND AND STEERING PLAY (OR SLACK) WHEN STEERING. THIS COULD RESULT IN BREAKAGE OF THE COUPLER, RESULTING IS LOSS OF CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. KIA HAS ALREADY RECALLED THE 2014-16 SOUL MODELS IN RECALL NUMBER: 17V608000, BUT DID NOT INCLUDE THE 2013 YEAR MODEL, WHICH HAS A DANGEROUS DEFECT.

THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED OR REPAIRED. SAVAGE KIA (2725 CENTER AVE, READING, PA) AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE, BUT NO ASSISTANCE WAS OFFERED. THE VEHICLE WAS RECENTLY SERVICED PER NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER: 19V120000 (ENGINE), BUT THE REMEDY DID NOT CORRECT THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 74,000.
I WENT TO HAVE A OIL CHANGE,THEY TOLD ME MY MOTOR WAS GOING OUT.THEY WOULD NOT DO NOTHING. THEY SAID TAKE IT TO A KIA DEALER. I THEN CALL A KIA SERVES DEALER. SO I AM LOOKING FOR A DEALER IN THE AREA CODE 49022, FOR A PHONE NUMBER.

LOUD BUMPING NOISE IN THE STEERING

THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED UNDER THE NHTSA CAMPAIGN NUMBER HOWEVER, AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED THE SERVICE ENGINE WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED AND REMAINED ILLUMINATED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO ALM KIA LOCATED AT SOUTH 4310 JONESBORO RD, UNION CITY, GA 30291, TO BE DIAGNOSED. THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE ENGINE MISFIRE WAS DUE TO DEFECTIVE IGNITION COILS. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 167,364.
THERE IS A CLUNKING NOISE WHILE DRIVING OR TURNING. TOO MUCH "PLAY" IN STEERING WHEEL. IT FEELS LIKE IT WILL COME APART. HAPPENS KNOW MATTER HOW FAST I GO. EVEN WHEN BACK UP.

THE VEHICLE RESTARTED, BUT FAILED TO ACCELERATE ABOVE 5 MPH AND THE CHECK ENGINE WARNING INDICATOR ILLUMINATED. MY DAUGHTER WAS DRIVING MY 2013 KIA SOUL, 2.0 ENGINE, ON THE INTERSTATE WHEN THE CAR HAD A SUDDEN LOSE OF POWER. WITHIN A MINUTE OR SO THERE WAS A LOUD POP AND SMOKE ROLLING OUT BEHIND. I WAS TOLD THIS MUCH BACK PRESSURE IN THE ENGINE PROBABLY MEANS A CLOGGED OR FAULTY CATALYTIC CONVERTER. I HAVE NOTICED A LOT OF SIMILAR COMPLAINTS FROM OTHER KIA OWNERS. I WAS DRIVING MY 2013 KIA SOUL, AND I WAS TURNING ACROSS A BUSY INTERSECTION. AS I WAS IN THE MIDDLE OF CROSSING THE INTERSECTION MY CAR STALLED OUT AND I WAS ALMOST IN A VERY SERIOUS ACCIDENT. IF THE ONCOMING CAR HAD NOT SWERVED IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A SERIOUS COLLISION. SINCE THIS INCIDENT, MY CAR HAS BEEN TOWED TO A KIA SERVICE CENTER AND EVALUATED. THE KIA TECHNICIAN STATED THAT MY CAR HAD METAL SHAVINGS WITHIN THE CRANKSHAFT OIL PASSAGES, AND THE CRANKPINS THEMSELVES MAY BE TOO ROUGH ON THE EDGES. AS A RESULT, OIL MAY BE BLOCKED AND CAUSE THE CONNECTING ROD BEARINGS TO WEAR, WHICH WOULD THEN CAUSE THEM TO FAIL AND SEIZE THE WHOLE ENGINE. THAT, OF COURSE, WOULD CAUSE THE CAR TO STALL DURING DRIVING. THIS IS THE EXACT SAME PROBLEM THAT THE OTHER KIA ENGINES WERE RECALLED FOR. IN ADDITION TO STALLING THIS COULD CAUSE THE RODS TO PIERCE THE ENGINE AND CAUSE A FIRE. MORE LIVES ARE AT RISK BECAUSE THE KIA RECALL IS NOT COMPLETE. ENGINES LIKE MINE, ARE STILL OUT THERE POSSIBLY CAUSING SERIOUS AND OR FATAL INCIDENTS. KIA NEEDS TO EXPAND THE RECALL TO THE 2. ENGINES AS WELL. THIS IS A MANUFACTURING DEFECT THAT NEEDS IMMEDIATE ACTION. MY VEHICLE SUFFERED NHTSA RECALL 19V120. KIA DEALERSHIP REFUSED TO INSPECT FOR ANY ENGINE DAMAGE THAT MAY HAVE OCCURRED. THEY JUST REPLACED THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER AND DID NOT INSPECT FOR ANY ENGINE DAMAGE. THE VEHICLE SUFFERED FROM CATALYTIC CONVERTER ISSUES FOR OVER 3 YEARS AND THEY REFUSED TO SAY ANYTHING WAS WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. ACCORDING TO THE RECALL, IF THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS DAMAGED IT MAY CAUSE ENGINE DAMAGE. WELL THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER WAS DAMAGED AND THEY REFUSE TO DO A PROPER INSPECTION ON THE VEHICLE. I NEED THEM TO FULLY DIAGNOSE THE VEHICLE AND INSPECT THE ENGINE. CORPORATE HAS REFUSED TO WORK WITH ME RESOLVING THIS MATTER. THE TECHNICIAN STATED THAT IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER TO CAUSE ANY ENGINE DAMAGE.

THE DEFECT MAY CAUSE DAMAGE TO THE CATALYTIC CONVERTER DUE TO OVERHEATING, RESULTING IN ABNORMAL ENGINE COMBUSTION AND DAMAGE TO THE ENGINE PISTONS.
