The engine in my car needs replacing. The dealership and KIA corporation refuse to complete oil consumption tests. I am driving a car that cannot be inspected or repaired. They told me literally I have to drive the car into the ground to get the engine replaced. This is dangerous and foolhardy. Corporations with faulty products that have warranties they refuse to honor are putting all people on the road at risk. Getting through to either the dealership or the corporation is almost impossible unless you have no job. Please help KIA owners who are put in this unconscionable position. I own my car outright, I wish I had more options other than losing my investment as a poor person. Thank you for whatever help you can provide. I was just driving home from work on a main road. Car started perfect as usual. Got about 5 miles down the road i started to hear a rattling noise almost like a tin can. I slowed down to pull over. Got out to look at the problem with the car shut off. A huge puddle of oil leaked out and car will no longer turn on. Had to get it towed home. Contacted Kia dealership after doing research on the issue. I was Never informed by phone, mail, email about this recall or the upgrade needing to be done. The dealership told me they won’t honor the recall. So I’m left with a unusable car.
The contact owns a 2015 Kia Soul. The contact stated while driving approximately 50 MPH, the vehicle started to decelerate independently and would not accelerate while the accelerator pedal was depressed. Additionally, there was a burning odor coming from the engine compartment. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the catalytic converter was faulty and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was later taken to the local dealer who confirmed that the catalytic convertor was faulty. The vehicle was not yet repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 72,000.
Vehicle has begun burning oil excessively and has a smell of gas in the oil. The oil is changed regularly with the correct oil. This did not begin to occur until the vehicle had a recall issue resolved at the dealership. The vehicle has 113,000 miles on it, a engine service light is on and and is throwing a P420 code. My mechanic provided me with the recall notices for the vehicle based on year however, a call to Kia indicates my VIN is not included in the second recall. I have noted there are mutiple compaints for the same issue on Kia owner sites on the web. The vehicle is beginning to have poor fuel comsumption, and is beginning to "drag" on occasion while driving at varied speeds both city and highway.

The contact owns a 2015 Kia Soul. The contact stated that while he was performing an oil change, he noticed that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The dealer informed the contact that the vehicle was not covered under warranty due to him being the second owner. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 60,799.
On 7-3-2022, I was driving my 2015 Kia Soul on I-5 north with my daughter heading home from a short road trip to San Francisco. We where @ 70mph and started up the Shasta mountain when my check engine light started flashing, and I lost all power, the motor started knocking and smoke started to come from the exhaust. As a semi had to blow his horn and swerved to ovoid hitting us.
My 2015 Kia Soul had a massive engine failure at 80 thousand miles, and the engine is damaged beyond repair.
Engine blew up unexpectedly while driving with no prior warnings.
The contact owns a 2015 Kia Soul. The contact stated the vehicle was being driven to the dealer for an oil change when the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was able to be restarted. The contact stated that the oil level warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and diagnosed and the contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that she also received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number 19V101000 (Engine) however, the dealer and manufacturer declined repairs for both recalls. The contact stated that she received the recall notifications in April of 2022. The contact stated that the dealer was notified of the recall and stated that if there were no issues with the vehicle that there was no reason to take the vehicle to the dealer for the recall repair. A case was opened with the manufacturer. The failure mileage was 103,629.
As per Kia's recall on the catalytic converters on some models, our Kia is also giving the CEL obd code of p0420, but on nhtsa our specific car isn't listed as being a part of the recall. It fits in the engine being a 1.6l and the correct year for the recall, and is having the same issues as the recalled models, but for some reason our's isn't shown as having that recall on this site, even tho it does show up as having that recall on other vin checking sites.
1. The Oil light came on and I thought I just needed an oil change. I was driving when my car started making a knocking noise. I called 4 KIA Dealerships to explain my situation and they all kept trying to push me off on the other, until one of them was finally able to get me an appointment at the other location in Longwood, Fl. Long story short they told me that there were a few recalls on my car and they could be fixed, only to find out later they could not fix my car due to another recall not being done on the car, even though the recall notice that they sent me was said they are to fix Catalytic Converter Protection logic in the Engine Control Unit, and if Necessary Replace the Catalytic Converter and/or Engine at NOT COST TO ME. Yet KIA Dealership called me back to tell me they couldn't fix it and I must speak with the manufacturer of KIA to ask them to fix it only for them to say they would give me a case number and call me back, ONLY NOT to call me back and then the person who said he'd be fixing my car kept giving me the run around and then told me he would speak with the regional manager of KIA and they could possibly GIFT me an ENGINE, for my car. Like how odes that make since. They can GIFT ME AN ENGINE, but they can't fix my car like it states in the letter they sent me. It clearly states my car can stall (which it did) and cause an accident, catch fire or combust due to the recall issues. No matter what was said it's like KIA Dealership was trying to BLAME ME FOR THE ISSUES WITH MY CAR WHEN THEY SENT ME A NOTICE AND THEY TOLD ME ABOUT THE RECALLS WHEN MY SON BROUGHT THE CAR TO THEM. I screen shot all the conversations sent to me via text and chat. LIES AFTER LIES FROM THE KIA DEALERSHIPS so disappointing. My car has been at the dealership for almost 2wks and nothing has been done. They want ME to pay $6,720 for a new/ENGINE replacement when they are supposed to fix it for free regardless the issues and warranty! No one has contacted me for days now!????
Last summer I began to experience issues with the Right Rear Caliper. I was told that it was the pin and the caliper needed replaced. I went through no less than 3 mechanics and was told it was a NON-STOCK item and they didn't know when it would be available. This is my only vehicle so they tried whatever they could to keep it drivable. A replacement still hasn't been found as I have been continuously told that the replacement has to made of steel, not aluminum and it is still a non-stocked item and the ones that are available are of aluminum and that they will not work on my vehicle. I was just told yesterday that the Kia is NON-REPAIRABLE just because of the right rear caliper and that my car is basically junk! How is this possible? Not one person can explain to me WHY the aluminum caliper will not work. My family's safety has been at risk since last summer by not having a complete braking system, We have lost time at work due to this issue. How can a repair be made if the necessary part is unavailable due to a manufacturing issue? I have called 3 Kia dealerships and still cannot get an answer as they want me to pay $500.00 for a caliper then "see if it fits". No. I honestly cannot afford ANY repair by a dealer, as they are ridiculous. This isn't right, to make a car and then not have the parts available.
My wife has a 2015 Kia Soul that developed a gasoline leak in the engine compartment. The Kia dealer said some of their other models have been recalled due to gas leaks and fires but this model has not. This model has the same engine and obviously has the same issue as the Kia model that was recalled. We were very lucky that her car did not catch fire or explode and that I was able to see the problem after she drove the car a short way. The fuel line was leaking gas where it connects to the high pressure pump on top of the engine and from the hose just behind the engine.
While driving down the interstate, my car started sputtering, decelerating, and then cut off. I was able to get it back on long enough to get off the interstate. When I stopped, my car cut off. Turn it back on, sputter down the road, then engine knocking, turn off. For about 15 miles. I finally got it towed to my Kia dealer and I explicitly told them about the recall. They had no idea what I was talking about so I called Kia. According to Kia, even though my car is on the recall list, I'm out of luck because I wasn't informed that it had to be done during a certain time. I'm not the original owner and never got notice and now I'm out of a car I am STILL paying on!

The contact owns a 2015 Kia Soul. The contact stated while her spouse driver was driving approximately 45 MPH, the accelerator pedal functionality was inoperative. There were no warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the catalytic converter was faulty; however, the vehicle was then towed to the dealer who determined that the failure was caused by a faulty wheel speed sensor. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 160,000.

Engine knocking extremely loud
The contact owns a 2015 Kia Soul. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle was shaking and vibrating and failed to properly accelerate. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who diagnosed that the catalytic converter was faulty, and that the engine had experienced excessive oil consumption. The catalytic converter was replaced; however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but no assistance was offered. The failure mileage was 112,878.
Engine light and ABS light always on, kia hasnt explained this issue or expressed concern about it.. Engine randomly started leaking oil, blowing out white smoke, stalling out upon accelerating causing safety issue in traffic. Kia has had car for 2 weeks now with no answers to resolve. Being told the recall issue is "fine" I use my car for work and this unresolved issue is affecting my livelihood. This all began on 4-29-22 and am now being asked to pay for further testing for diagnostic purposes. Told there are no loaner vehicles and to rent one at my own expense.
The contact owned a 2015 Kia Soul. The contact stated while driving at approximately 65 MPH the vehicle began to slow and white smoke began to issue from under the hood. The contact stated she was not aware of any warning light being illuminated. The contact heard a loud ticking sound coming from the engine compartment. The contact was able to safely pull off of the highway, however as soon as she had exited the vehicle the contact heard a loud explosion. The contact stated that the vehicle lifted up a few inches off of the roadway and was engulfed in flames from the hood to the trunk. The fire department was called as well as the police. The fire department used water to extinguish the fire. The contact had researched online and related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 22V051000 (Service Brakes, Hydraulic). The vehicle was towed to an impound lot. The manufacturer had been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 84,000.
On April 24, 2022, while driving my 2015 Kia Soul, the vehicle suddenly caught fire. The fire originated in the engine compartment and destroyed the vehicle. This occurred despite the existence of a known safety recall related to the Knock Sensor Detection System (KSDS), which has been linked to engine fires in Kia vehicles. Following the incident, Kia America declined responsibility, and a joint investigation attempt by my insurer, USAA, was ignored. Kia proceeded with an independent investigation and later concluded that the cause was “undetermined” and that the fire originated in the engine compartment but could not determine the cause, which was likely due to the severe fire damage, per their own report. I have since been informed that USAA pursued subrogation against Kia, contrary to Kia’s recent claims. A letter of preservation was also sent to USAA following the incident to ensure the vehicle would remain in its post-fire condition. This was done to safeguard the integrity of the vehicle for investigative purposes. Following Kia’s refusal to assist, I was advised to explore reimbursement through other means, including the ongoing class action settlement related to this engine defect. I submitted a claim through that process but was ultimately denied due to a lack of “proof” that the fire was caused by the recall. However, my vehicle was so severely damaged in the fire that no conclusive cause could be determined , a point even Kia acknowledged in their own post-fire report, which stated the cause was “undetermined” but that the fire originated in the engine compartment. Over a year later, after the original dismissal of Kia, in September 2023, Kia America sent a letter via mail to the wrong address and email requesting documentation for reimbursement, which I provided only for them to again deny any responsibility. This delayed communication, along with the lack of transparency and accountability in handling a known safety issue, raises serious public safe
The engine keeps burning oil, and is clogging up the catalytic converter causing the car to lose power. The car can’t go above 50mph and cannot go up inclines without the rpm at around 5-6. It has been going on since April 2022 and I bought the car in November 2021 from Paramount Kia of Asheville @ 80,000miles. They have done 5 oil consumption tests and 2 overnight soaks which has still yet to fix the problem. The car needs a new engine, and catalytic converter which would be around $10,000. They sold me the car for $17,000 and I still owe $11,000.
The contact owns a 2015 Kia Soul. The contact stated that when the ignition was turned to the off position, the engine was still running. Additionally, the contact stated that while inside her residence with the key, the vehicle erroneously started and move forward with no key in the ignition. The contact also stated that the brake pedal became stiff while depressed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 92,000.
Hello I have a 2015 Kia Soul with a 1.6L engine and I am awear that there is a recall on Kia souls in the same year as my car. I called and as you can see, it says my car does not have a recall on it. Today is April 19,2022 and due to my car giving me problems and would not start at times, and a few days ago the engine started shaking. When I took her to pepboys today the diagnosis was The same that’s described in the recall for Kia souls. My Cadillac converter needs to be changed and there is a chance of a fire combustion. I would like for someone to contact me because this could have ended badly and put my Safty at risk. A recall is created because customers find defaults in these models of Kia’s due to them being build improperly. And Kia have tried to fix the problems but I know they have missed my car. Don’t want to have to pay soo much money on something that’s not my fault because someone else have acknowledged their mistake and is fixing it.
Recall for catalytic converter failure not fixed. Dealer claimed to fix but lied. My catalytic converter is failing and Kia refused to fix it with previous recall appointments. Now it could result in major engine or a fire. Took it in multiple times and dealer failed to resolve the issue. A year later and my car won’t go over 40 mph.
The contact owns a 2015 Kia Soul. The contact stated that while her husband was driving approximately 55 MPH, he heard an abnormal loud sound coming from the hood before the vehicle stalled. The contact was unsure whether there were and warning lights illuminated. The contact stated that her husband was unable to restart the vehicle and might have pushed the vehicle to the side of the roadway. Upon opening the hood to determine the cause of the failure, the driver noticed there was smoke. The contact's husband and her father replaced the alternator and battery on site however, the vehicle failed to restart. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The contact later received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V120000 (Engine, Engine and Engine Cooling). The manufacturer was notified of the failure and assisted the contact with towing the vehicle to the dealer for the recall repair. The dealer diagnosed that the engine needed to be replaced. However, the dealer informed the contact that the vehicle could not be repaired under NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V120000 (Engine, Engine and Engine Cooling) as the vehicle mileage was over 150,000. The manufacturer was contacted and confirmed the dealer information. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 151,000.
I heard there was a recall last year on knock sensors is the souls and so I went to a Kia dealership they said my car was no longer under warranty which it had to be under 150,000 miles and it was only 1000 miles over so I paid $736 and some change for it to go bad again and now I have to get it fixed again and take it to a Kia dealership I think it’s so dumb how we have to pay for recalls when that’s not our faults
The contact owns a 2015 Kia Soul. The contact stated that while driving at 60 MPH, a loud boom sound came from the engine without warning. The contact pulled over and upon inspection of the hood, she discovered flames emitting from the vehicle. Two fellow motorists witnessed the fire and were able to draw water from a nearby ditch to extinguish the fire before the fire department. A fire report was not filed once they arrived at the scene. No injuries were reported. The contact had the vehicle towed to the dealer a diagnostic discovered that a rod had blown through the engine block. The contact then discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V750000(Engine); however, both the dealer and the manufacturer notified her that the vehicle was not under the recall. The vehicle remained in the possession of the dealer but had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.
oil light came on randomly while driving. Took to the shop to have checked out. Was found to be almost empty of oil. Oil was changed 2 months prior. Filled up with oil and left. Everytime the vehicle would sit adle the oil pressure would cause the oil light to come on. Took to the dealership and was told it needed a new engine. Dealership promised to replace the engine for no charge. Stated it would take appoximatley 3 weeks. Stated there was a recall and issue with these engines. After 3 weeks dealership called and stated the vehicle only passed 1 or 2 test required before replacing engine. The engine would not be replaced free of charge. the vehicle has 82,000 miles. Have record of every oil change that was serviced at the appropriate time. The dealership wanted 8700.00 for a engine.
On March 31, 2022 I was driving to work. The engine light was on. Without warning, the engine stalled while I was driving, and my car coasted to a stop in traffic. It was an unsafe situation. I had the car towed to the Kia dealership, which had previously told me (on January 7th) that there was nothing wrong with the engine, it was normal for the engine warning light to stay on, and no repairs were needed. The car has been at the Kia dealership since March 31st and no repairs have been done.
The vehicle was taken to highway and after an uphill ramp (from Stringfellow to I-66E), the vehicle lost power, started to smoke, brake system lost power (foot brake did not work, so side brake was used to stop the vehicle), then caught on fire at Mile Marker 56.6. Yes, it is available for an inspection. I had to evacuate the vehicle in the middle of interstate highway that did not have an emergency lane. 3 out of 4 lanes had been blocked, so, yes, it did put others at safety risk as well. Problem cannot be reproduced as the vehicle will be deemed total loss (pending insurance company's inspection). However, please note that the engine was replaced at the dealer, under the warranty, 2 weeks prior to the incident. Insurance company is inspecting the vehicle and the captain of the fire brigade has stated that he will be filing a report in Fairfax County, VA. Excessive smoke and smell. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer the next day after the vehicle was picked up 2 weeks ago due to loss of power, transmission shift lags, blinking engine light, excessive vibration, etc. At the time of the incident, the dashboard did not indicate any engine lights nor the thermostat indicated overheating.
I purchased my 2015 Kia Soul at the end of 2014, while living in Florida. I moved out of Florida in 2018, and had the car's registration changed to include my new address as soon as possible upon my arrival in my new state of residence. Kia began notifying owners of this vehicle about recall # 19V120000 in February 2019. Kia, by their own admission, mailed notice of this recall to me using an old Florida address. This letter was never forwarded to my correct address and I continued driving the vehicle unaware of this safety issue, which increases the risk of engine stalling and engine fire, until March 2022. In March 2022 the car began to break down while I was driving approximately 70 miles per hour on a state highway due to the exact problem described in recall # 19V120000, abnormal engine temperatures damaged at least one piston and a piston connector rod to the point that the connector rod broke and punctured a hole in the engine block, allowing engine oil to escape. I immediately got off the highway and returned to my residence, which was only 10 minutes away from my location at that time. The vehicle was then towed to a Kia dealership, where the service department informed me that they would not honor the safety recall because they are only obligated to repair or replace the engine before this issue causes the engine to be damaged, not after the damage has already occurred. I contacted Kia's corporate office and challenged this decision on the basis that I never received the notice of the recall, and therefore it was impossible for me to bring the car in for preventative maintenance of this issue. The response from Kia was that they are not responsible for seeking out an updated address to contact vehicle owners by, and that the single letter sent to the outdated address they had in their internal database was a sufficient and reasonable attempt to inform me of this potentially deadly flaw in their vehicle. Kia did not communicate with my state's RMV for this.
while driving my vehicle all of a sudden in the middle of a busy road I lost power. My vehicle would no longer accelerate and came to a stop. Engine light came on. This caused a big safety risk to myself as well as others on the road due to my vehicle coming to a sudden and unexpected stop. The engine light came on, which was not on prior. I was just able to have my vehicle towed today to a Kia dealership.
The contact owns a 2015 Kia Soul. The contact stated that he received notification of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V750000 (Engine). The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the recall repair was performed. Several months after the repair, the contact stated that the vehicle hesitated upon depression of the accelerator pedal and the vehicle was shaking while idling. Additionally, the vehicle was consuming and excessive amount of oil. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the transmission was flushed; however, after the repair was performed the failure persisted. The contact stated that the vehicle shifted into limp mode with the check engine and oil level warning lights were illuminated. The contact took the vehicle back to the independent mechanic and was informed that the knock sensor was defective. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and suggested that the vehicle towed be towed to the dealer. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and it was confirmed that the knock sensor was defective and that the repair would be covered under the original recall. Upon further investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V120000 (Engine, Engine and Engine Cooling) which he also linked to the failure. The contact was informed that his vehicle was repaired but remained in the possession of the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 83,000.
The contact owns a 2015 Kia Soul. The contact stated that while driving up a hill at approximately 40 MPH, the vehicle failed to accelerate. The check engine warning light illuminated and was flashing. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer where two unknown recalls were completed. The mechanic informed her of error code P1326: KSDS failure (Knock Sensor Detection System). Additionally, the bearing was not fractured and the mechanic was unable to proceed. There was a claim filed for an engine replacement which was denied. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed her that the failure was due to the engine and power train. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000.
Sudden engine lockup, car no longer driveable
The contact owns a 2015 Kia Soul. The contact stated while driving approximately 35 MPH, the vehicle started to stall. The check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed with needing the engine replaced; however, the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was informed of the failure but offered no additional assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
The contact owns a 2015 Kia Soul. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle would hesitate upon depression of the accelerator pedal with the check engine warning light flashing on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the spark plugs were replaced; however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was then taken to another independent mechanic where she was informed that piston ring #3 was damaged and needed to be replaced; she was also informed that there was a recall on her vehicle. The contact was informed by the mechanic to speak with a dealer for assistance. Upon calling the dealer, the contact was informed that her vehicle was not included in NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V120000 (Engine, Engine and Engine Cooling). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.
The catalytic converter is causing my engine to have issues. I was traveling up an incline and the car would not accelerate past 30mph. I never received any warning signs such as engine light, black smoke from the exhaust, and the egg smell if the converter is going bad. I took the car to Kia and they could not see the car until the last week of February. The service department was backed up and understaffed. I took it to an independent service center and they said it was the catalytic converter. I continue to perform maintenance on the vehicle. The vehicle was not inspected by the manufacturer etc. Again, I didn't get any warning messages, I did a vehicle diagnostic UVO It said no critical issues were found. Traveling 60mph, your vehicle shutting down to 30mph in traffic is dangerous.
The contact owns a 2015 Kia Soul. The contact stated while driving 15 MPH, the vehicle stalled inadvertently. The check engine warning light illuminated. The contact was able to veer to the side of the road. The contact was able to restart the vehicle to continue driving; however, there was an abnormal knocking sound coming from the engine. The contact became aware of NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V750000 (Engine) and contacted the local dealer; however, the local dealer informed the contact that they could not repair the vehicle under the recall because the service records for an oil change that she provided did not indicate that oil changes had been completed as needed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 70,000. Parts distribution disconnect.
The contact's daughter owns a 2015 Kia Soul. The contact stated that while her daughter was driving 55 MPH, the vehicle stalled with an unknown warning light illuminated. The contact's daughter was able to drive the vehicle to an independent mechanic who informed her that the catalytic converter and oxygen sensor were defective. The vehicle was repaired. The contact was informed by her daughter that an abnormal knocking sound was coming from the engine with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to an independent mechanic for an oil change and informed the mechanic of the knocking issue. The contact's daughter was informed by the independent mechanic that there was no available service technician to inspect her vehicle. Soon after the oil change was completed and driving at an undisclosed speed, the rod bearing punctured the engine block. The check engine warning light was illuminated. Upon investigation, the contact discovered NHTSA Campaign Number: 19V120000 (Engine, Engine and Engine Cooling) which she linked to the failure. The vehicle was towed back to the independent mechanic where an estimate was provided for replacing the engine. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that since the ECU upgrade was not performed; the cost for a new engine would not be covered. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided the same information as the dealer. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 112,000.
The car began burning oil at around 60K miles. When I took it in for oil changes, it was consistently low on oil. When the car was taken in for a recall SC200, the engine was checked and was not registering any codes and declared healthy. However, the car continued to struggle to accelerate, make rumbling noises and burning oil. Six months later, the engine failed at 80K miles. Three of the four cylinders were scored. The car was taken back to the dealership and a scope of the engine cylinders showed the damage. There is no record that when the car was in the dealership for the KSDS recall that a scope was put in the engine to check the cylinders. The check engine lights never illuminated despite the engine damage. Kia will not replace the engine as the engine is not showing a code that relates to the KSDS defect (it would replace if it showed such a code). The 100,000 mile warranty is void as I bought it second hand.
The contact owns a 2015 Kia Soul. The contact stated that the vehicle was consuming an excessive amount of engine oil. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the engine had consumed a quart and a half of oil under a thousand miles. The mechanic related the failure to NHTSA Campaign Number: 20V750000 (Engine) however, the VIN was not included in the recall. The contact was informed that the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 113,000.
The contact owns a 2015 Kia Soul. The contact stated that while driving at an unknown speed, the check engine warning light illuminated.
