TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2007 KIA SPECTRA. ON SEVERAL OCCASIONS WHEN AN ADULT WAS SITTING IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED. ALSO, THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHEN THERE WAS NO ADULT IN THE FRONT PASSENGER SEAT AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT WAS OFF. THE LIGHT SHOULD BE WORKING THE OPPOSITE OF *AKTHE CURRENT FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 2447 . THE DEALER STATED THAT THE VEHICLE WAS OPERATING NORMALLY; HOWEVER, THE MECHANIC DUPLICATE DTHE FAILURE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 2584.*AK
ON MARCH 10, 2007, AT APPROXIMATELY 4:45 PM, MY WIFE AND I WITNESSED A SINGLE CAR ACCIDENT ON RED BLUFF BETWEEN KIRBY AND BAY AREA BLVD IN PASADENA TEXAS. THE VEHICLE WAS WILDLY OUT OF CONTROL AND EVENTUALLY LANDED UPSIDE DOWN IN A DITCH ON THE LEFT HAD SIDE OF THE ROAD. THE DRIVER SAID THE CAR WENT "CRAZY." I EXAMINED THE CAR AND NOTICED THE LEFT TIE ROD END WAS SHEARED OFF WHERE IT ENTERS THE TIE ROD ITSELF. THE LEFT STRUT WAS ALSO RIPPED OUT OF THE BODY OF THE CAR. IT IS MY OPINION, THE ROD WAS SHEARED WHEN THE CAR HIT A POT HOLE OR THE LEFT CURB. THE DRIVER LOST CONTROL AND WAS VERY LUCKY TO ESCAPE WITH BUMPS AND BRUISES. THE VEHICLE WAS A KIA. I DID NOT ASK THE YEAR OR MODEL, BUT I THINK IT WAS A SPECTRA. *JB
ON MARCH 2, 2007, WHILE DRIVING MY 2006 KIA SPECTRA-5 AT HIGH SPEED ON THE INTERSTATE, THE FRONT WINDSHIELD MOLDING BLEW OUT OF THE TRACK ON THE DRIVERS SIDE. I CAME CLOSE TO HAVING AN ACCIDENT BECAUSE IT SCARED ME BEYOND WORDS. I REPORTED IT TO THE DEALER. THE DEALER ORDERED AND REPLACED THE MOLDING WITH NEW PARTS. THE DEALERSHIP PERSONNEL STATED THAT THIS WAS NOT THE FIRST CAR THEY HAD REPLACED THIS MOLDING ON. LAST WEEK, APRIL 8, 2007 THE WINDSHIELD MOLDING POPPED OUT AGAIN. THIS TIME ON BOTH SIDES OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE MOLDING IS STILL IN PLACE ALONG THE TOP OF THE WINDSHIELD. THE DEALER HAS BEEN NOTIFIED. THE DEALER HAS ORDERED A NEW PART. I EXPECT TO HAVE MY CAR REPAIRED AGAIN NEXT WEEK. *JB
TL*- WHILE DRIVING DOWN THE ROAD IN A 2006 KIA SPECTRA AT 45 MPH THE CONTACT LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE STATING THAT HE HEARD A CRACKING SOUND AT THE REAR END OF THE VEHICLE WHICH CAUSEDE IT TO FALL DOWN A 10 FT EMBANKMENT. UPON IMPACT, AIR BAGS NEVER DEPLOYED. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED DAMAGE IN BOTH THE FRONT AND THE REAR. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THERE WASN'T ANY PRIOR WARNING. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGE WERE 16000. THE CONTACT COULD PROVIDE COPY OF POLICE REPORT AS WELL AS PICTURES OF VEHICLE. THERE WAS ONE INJURY.*AK
TL* - THE CONTACT STATED THAT IN HER 2006 KIA SPECTRA THE FRONT PASSENGER AIRBAG LIGHT WORKS INTERMITTENTLY. THE SPEED OF THE VEHICLE WAS NOT A FACTOR, NEITHER WAS THE WEIGHT OF THE PASSENGER. THE CONTACT HAS TAKEN THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER WHO RAN THE VEHICLE THROUGH DIAGNOSTIC TESTING AND CONCLUDED THAT THE AIRBAG WORKED. THE DEALER HAS TOLD THE CONTACT THERE IS NOTHING THEY CAN DO. TL* - THE CONTACT CALLED REGARDING THE 2006 KIA SPECTRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THE PASSENGER'S SIDE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHEN THERE WAS A PASSENGER IN THE FRONT SEAT. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 14. THIS HAPPENED INTERMITTENTLY. THE DEALER HAD REPROGRAMMED THE COMPUTER, AND CHANGED THE PASSENGER'S FRONT SEAT, WHICH HAD NOT RESOLVED THE PROBLEM. THE MANUFACTURER SENT A REPRESENTATIVE TO EXAMINE THE VEHICLE, AND THE AIR BAG LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHILE A PASSENGER WAS IN THE FRONT SEAT. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 1600.*AK THE AIR BAG SENSOR DIDN'T RECONIZE THE CONSUMERS WIFE AS AN ADULT. UPDATED 03/22/07. *JB
I WAS DRIVING MY KIA SPECTRA 2006 KNAFE12166522XXXX AND WITHIN 5 MINUTES OF THE ENGINE LIGHT GOING ON MY ENGINE DIED. I WAS STRANDED ON THE HIGHWAY NEAR CLINTON, NJ. KIA REFUSES TO HONOR THE 10 YEAR/100.000 MILE WARRANTY STATING THE REASON IS MY FAULT DUE TO LACK OF TRANSMISSION FLUID ETC ??? I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE BRAKES AND TIRES ON THIS CAR SINCE I PURCHASED IT IN JAN 06. IN AN ACCIDENT PRIOR TO THIS THE AIR BAG DID NOT OPEN. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE ATTEMPTING TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED AS WELL. THIS HAD OCCURRED TWICE. THE VEHICLE WAS DRIVEN TO THE DEALER WHO DETERMINED THE VEHICLE PERFORMED AS DESIGNED. UPDATED 02/12/07. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE STOPPED IN A PARKING LOT WITH BRAKE PRESSURE APPLIED, THE VEHICLE WAS PUT IN REVERSE, AND LURCHED BACKWARDS, CRASHING INTO A TREE STUMP WITHOUT WARNING. THERE WERE NO INJURIES, AND THE CONTACT WAS WEARING A SEAT BELT. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED MINOR DAMAGE TO THE REAR. THE POLICE WERE ALERTED, AND A REPORT WAS TAKEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A BODY SHOP TO AWAIT INSPECTION BY THE INSURANCE ADJUSTOR. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOT ALERTED.
CAR WAS STRUCK ON DRIVER SIDE REAR QUARTER PANEL WHICH RESULTED IN THE VEHICLE BEING SPUN IN FRONT OF THE DUMP TRUCK WHICH MADE THE FIRST IMPACT. CAR WAS STRUCK ON SEVERAL POINTS OF IMPACTS INCLUDING THE DRIVER SIDE DOOR, DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR, AND FRONT QUARTER PANEL. THE HARDEST IMPACT BEING DIRECTLY ON THE SIDE DOOR, WITH ENOUGH IMPACT TO COMPLETELY PUSH THE DOOR INSIDE OF THE DOOR FRAME OF THE VEHICLE. EMT'S STATEMENT DESCRIBED THIS TO ME WHEN THEY WERE DESCRIBING THEY HAD TO USE THE JAWS OF LIFE TO FREE MY WIFE FROM THE DRIVERS SEAT. NO AIR BAGS DEPLOYED DURING THIS ENTIRE CRASH. THIS VEHICLE IS EQUIPPED WITH 8 AIR BAGS OF WHICH THREE ARE ON SIDE IMPACT SPECIFIC ON EACH SIDE. *NM
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE TRAVELING 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE WAS INVOLVED IN A SIDE IMPACT COLLISION WITH ANOTHER VEHICLE ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS. THE PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG DID NOT DEPLOY. FOUR OCCUPANTS IN THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED MINOR TO MODERATE SEATBELT INJURIES. ALL THE OCCUPANTS WERE WEARING THEIR SEATBELTS. A POLICE REPORT WAS TAKEN. THERE WERE NO WARNING PRIOR TO THE INCIDENT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO A STORAGE LOT. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED AND SENT AN INSPECTOR TO INVESTIGATE. THE INSPECTOR DETERMINED THAT A COPY OF THE INVESTIGATION REPORT COULD BE RELEASED.
MY KIA WAS BOUGHT 7/8/2006 AND 8 WEEKS LATER THE OIL LIGHT CAME ON WHILE GOING UP A HILL I CHECKED THE OIL AND THE DIP STICK DIDN'T HAVE A DROP OF OIL ON IT. I RUBBED MY HAND ON IT AND THERE WAS NOTHING ON MY HAND. THIS HAPPENED ON 09/04/2006(LABOR DAY). THE CAR LOT WAS CLOSED SO I WENT TO BUY OIL I PUT 1 QUART IN IT STILL SHOWED NO OIL, THE 2ND QUART MADE IT REACH THE DIP STICK. THE OIL LIGHT NEVER STAYED ON, WHICH WAS A PROBLEM ALSO. I TOOK THE CAR IN THE NEXT DAY AND FOUND OUT THE REAR MAIN SEAL WAS BROKEN AND OIL WAS LEAKING OUT EXTREMELY BAD. THIS CAR ONLY HAS 2200 MILES ON IT. WHEN YOU BUY A BRAND NEW CAR OFF THE SHOWROOM FLOOR YOU EXPECT NOT TO HAVE THESE MAJOR PROBLEMS. I PERSONALLY THINK THEY SHOULD HAVE GIVEN ME ANOTHER CAR. BECAUSE WHOSE TO SAY THAT THIS HASN'T CAUSED OTHER PROBLEMS. I AM VERY DISSATISFIED. I WILL NEVER BUY ANOTHER KIA. I CAN'T TRADE IT IN BECAUSE I WILL LOOSE MONEY. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2006 KIA SPECTRA. THE CONTACT STATED THAT IF THE CURB WAS HIGHER THAN THE FRONT BUMPER, THE FRONT BUMPER COULD POSSIBLY FALL OFF IF IT HIT THE CURB. THE DEALER WAS UNABLE TO DIAGNOSE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 13,000.
I WAS COMING TO A STOP, DEPRESSING MY BRAKES AND THE PEDAL WENT ALL THE WAY TO THE FLOOR, FAILING TO STOP MY CAR. I PRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL AGAIN, THE CAR JUMPED FORWARD AND THEN CAME TO A STOP. THIS HAPPENED TWICE TODAY, NEITHER TIME CAUSING AN ACCIDENT, BUT CAME CLOSE TO HITTING A HOUSE AND A GAS STATION. *NM
ON THE AFTERNOON OF THE 25TH DAY OF MAY IN THE YEAR 2006, MY WIFE AND MYSELF WERE DRIVING DOWN I-5 SB TO MAMC FOR HER HOSPITAL APPT. WE WERE THEN INVOLVED IN A MULTI-CAR ACCIDENT OFF NEXT TO THE OFF RAMP OF EXIT 123. WE TRIED TO SLOW DOWN IN TIME BEFORE NOTICING THE JUST WRECKED VEHICLE IN FRONT OF US AND MY ABS IN MY 2006 KIA SPECTRA SX DID NOT ENGAGE, MY TIRES THEN LOCKED UP AND I SKIDDED AND SLID INTO THE STOPPED VEHICLE. WE HIT THEM DOING APPROX. 35-45 MPH AND SMASHED IN THE FRONT OF OUR CAR. AT THAT TIME MY AIRBAGS (BOTH DRIVER AND PASSENGER) DID NOT DEPLOY. THERE HAS BEEN NO CORRECTIVE ACTION FROM THE TIME OF THE ACCIDENT. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE DRIVING 45 MPH THE VEHICLE REAR ENDED ANOTHER VEHICLE THAT HAD STOPPED WITHOUT WARNING. THIS WAS A FULL FRONT TO REAR INCIDENT. THERE WAS PRE IMPACT BRAKING, THE WHEELS LOCKED UP ON THE VEHICLE CAUSING IT TO SKID INTO THE REAR OF THE STOPPED VEHICLE. THE AIR BAG DID NOT DEPLOY. SEAT BELTS WERE IN USE AND NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THERE WAS A POLICE REPORT FILED AT THE SCENE. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN INDEPENDENT REPAIR AND IS AWAITING INSPECTION.
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED WHILE APPROACHING A STOP DRIVING 15 MPH, THE BRAKES FAILED TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE BRAKE PEDAL WAS DEPRESSED, LET OFF AND PRESSED AGAIN, THE VEHICLE THEN SURGED FORWARD, AND THIS CAUSED A REAR END COLLISION. SEATBELTS WERE IN USE AND NO INJURIES WERE SUSTAINED. THERE WAS NO POLICE ON SCENE AND A REPORT WAS NOT FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO DEALER; UPON INSPECTION THE DEALER COULD NOT DUPLICATE THE PROBLEM.
TL* - THE CONTACT STATED THAT ON 02-04-06 HE WHILE DRIVING 70 MPH A 2006 KIA SPECTRA IT WAS INVOLVED IN A CRASH WHEN THE C ONSUMER'S V EHICLE WAS CUT OFF BY ANOTHER VEHICLE. AT WHICH TIME THE CONTACT'S VEHICLE THEN SWERVED TO AVOID THE OTHER VEHICLE AND VEHICLE WENT OFF THE ROAD INTO THE BUSHES. THE VEHICLE SUSTAINED FRONT END DAMAGE, THE AIR BAGS DID NOT DEPLOY. AS A RESULT, THE CONTACT WAS INJURED. THE CONTACT STATED THAT THEREWAS A POLICE REPORT. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING A RENTAL CAR.*AK
