COMMENTS: WE CURRENTLY OWN A 2005 LANDROVER LR3, IN 2006 THE COMPANY ISSUED A TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN REGARDING THEIR SUSPENSION WHICH CAUSES DANGEROUS UNEVEN TIRE WEAR. THE COMPANY ACKNOWLEDGED THE ISSUE AND AT THE FACTORY CHANGED THE SUSPENSION OF SUBSEQUENT MODELS, HOWEVER THEY ALLOWED CURRENT OWNER SUCH AS OURSELVES AND OUR THREE CHILDREN TO DRIVE UNSAFE VEHICLE WITHOUT NOTIFICATION. WE HAVE HAD SEVERELY UNEVEN AND POTENTIALLY DEADLY TIRE WEAR TWICE WITH THIS SUV. I DON'T KNOW HOW MANY OTHER VEHICLES ARE BEING DRIVEN WITH THIS UNSAFE ISSUE. LANDROVER NORTH AMERICA REFUSES TO TAKE RESPONSIBILITY. SOMEONE IS GOING TO ROLLOVER THESE SUV'S OR HAVE A HIGH SPEED BLOW OUT. DOES SOMEONE HAVE TO DIE BEFORE LANDROVER TAKES NOTICE? TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 LAND ROVER LR3. WHILE DRIVING LESS THAN 60 MPH, THE VEHICLE VEERED TO THE RIGHT. THE DEALER MADE THE NECESSARY REPAIRS, BUT THE FAILURE OCCURRED THREE ADDITIONAL TIMES. THE VEHICLE WAS RETURNED TO THE DEALER AND A FOUR WHEEL ALIGNMENT WAS PERFORMED. AFTER THE FOURTH FAILURE, THE CONTACT BECAME SUSPICIOUS THAT THE REPAIRS WOULD ONLY PROVIDE A TEMPORARY REMEDY INDEFINITELY. THE VIN WAS UNKNOWN. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 LAND ROVER LR3. WHILE DRIVING 30 MPH IN THE SNOW, THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL FAILED AND THE CONTACT HEARD A GRINDING NOISE. THE WHEELS LOCKED UP BRIEFLY. THE DEALER AND MANUFACTURER HAVE NOT YET BEEN NOTIFIED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 65,000. UPDATED 02-14-08. *KB THE VEHICLE BRIEFLY WENT INTO A SKID, HOWEVER THE CONSUMER WAS ABLE TO SHIFT THE VEHICLE INTO NEUTRAL AND COAST TO THE SIDE OF THE ROAD. UPDATED
THE TIRES ARE WEARING EXCESSIVELY. THE PROBLEM WAS CORRECTED AT 18,000 MILES SERVICE INTERVAL WITH AN ALIGNMENT AND REAPPEARED AT 30,000 SERVICE. THE DEALER SUGGEST CHANGING THE TIRES MORE OFTEN. THEY CAN NOT EXPLAIN THE CAUSE. *JB
THE MANUFACTURER'S RECOMMENDED TIRES (GOODYEAR WRANGLER ALL WEATHER M+S 255/55VR19) ON LANDROVER LR3 MODELS ARE WEARING PREMATURELY BY CUPPING AND UNDERLAYMENT SHOWING THROUGH ON INSIDE OF TIRE TREAD WHERE UNEVENLY WORN. MINE DID THIS AT 25K MILES, BUT I WAS LUCKY - AFTER RESEARCHING THROUGH VARIOUS BLOGS I'VE FOUND MANY NEEDED ALL TIRES REPLACED EVEN UNDER 14K MILES. THIS IS A HUGE SAFETY ISSUE AND I AM CURRENTLY WORKING WITH MY DEALER TO RESOLVE MY SITUATION, BUT IT SHOULD BE MADE GENERAL KNOWLEDGE TO CONSUMERS - ESPECIALLY IF IT CAN PREVENT FUTURE ACCIDENTS ON THE HIGHWAYS. PLEASE NOTE THAT THERE ARE CURRENTLY CLASS ACTION SUITS IN MICHIGAN AND CALIFORNIA ON THIS SAME ISSUE. UNSURE IF ISSUE IS JUST WITH LR3 MODELS, OR ALL OF LANDROVER VEHICLES. *JB
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 LAND ROVER LR 3. THE CONTACT STATED THAT WHILE DRIVING AT 40 MPH, THE BATTERY EXPLODED. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE BATTERY WAS FAULTY. THE CONTACT DID NOT KNOW BATTERY MODEL, SERIAL NUMBER OR PART NUMBER. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 57,659 MILES. *UPDATED 12/12/07 *BF THE CONSUMER STATED THE BATTERY EXPLOSION RESULTED IN $11,252.34 WORTH A DAMAGES FOR CAR RENTAL, LOSS OF VEHICLE FOR 3 MONTHS, AND DAMAGES ON THE VEHICLE. TIRES WERE UNEVENLY WORN AT THE 7500 MI. CHECK. THE DEALER REPLACED ALL FOUR TIRES. THE NEW TIRES WERE AGAIN WORN BY THE 15,000 MI. CHECK AND THEY HAD BEEN ROTATED IN BETWEEN THE TWO PERIODIC CHECKS. THIS TIME, LAND ROVER SAID THEY WOULD ONLY REPLACE TWO TIRES BECAUSE OF THE MILEAGE ON THE CAR. I EXPLAINED THAT THE TIRES ONLY HAD 7500 MI. ON THEM, BUT LAND ROVER SAID TIRES AREN'T COVERED AS IT WAS NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR. I TOLD THEM THERE WAS NOTHING NORMAL ABOUT REPLACING TIRES WITH THIS FREQUENCY AND THAT THE WORN TIRES REPRESENTED A SYMPTOM, NOT A PROBLEM. MY OWN DEALER WAS GOING TO REPLACE ALL FOUR TIRES . WE BOUGHT TWO LR3',WITHIN ONE YEAR, BUT I WA SBEGGING THEM TO IDENTIFY THE SOURCE OF THE ISSUE BEFORE I STARTED CHEWING UP THE THIRD SET. I AM SURPRISED THIS ISSUE WASN'T DISCLOSED BEFORE I BOUGHT MY CAR. I PURCHASED A 2005 LEFTOVE" IN THE BEGINNING OF 2006, LONG AFTER THE TIRE ISSUE WAS IDENTIFIED. I AM ALSO EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS WITH HESITATION ON ACCELERATION. IT HAS BEEN AT THE SHOP TWICE TO HAVE THAT PROBLEM CORRECTED WITHOUT SUCCESS. I FEEL CHEATED. IT WA S AN EXPENSIVE CAR AND ONE THAT SHOULD NOT REQUIRE THIS LEVEL OF MAINTENANCE SO EARLY INTO OWNERSHIP. *AK
TIRES ON THE LR3 2005 LAND ROVER HAD EXCESSIVE WEAR & TEAR , I.E. PREMATURE AND UNEVEN TIRE WEAR THAT COULD POTENTIALLY LEAD TO FAILURE, ACCIDENT, INJURY, FIRE, PROPERTY DAMAGE, CRASH AS A RESULT OF TIRE FAILURE. AR HAS BEEN MAINTAINED PER WARRANTY. EM TIRES WERE PRETTY MUCH NO GOOD AFTER 13,555 MILES ON THE CAR ON A PERSONAL LEVEL. SERVICE BULLETIN SWA06-10 REVISION 2, WAS OUT THERE FOR THIS ALIGNMENT ISSUE BACK IN OCTOBER 23, 2006 TIMELINE THAT WAS CAUSING THE TIRES TO WEAR OUT EXCESSIVELY. SUBJECT TITLE: LR3 AND RANGE ROVER SPORT PREMATURE/UNEVEN TIRE WEAR GUIDANCE MANUFACTURERWAS SIMPLY NOT TAKING ANY PROACTIVE STEPS TO CORRECT THE SITUATION. IF THIS ISSUE WAS DISCOVERED IN 2006 OR EARLIER WHY WASN'T THE MANUFACTURER TAKING IMMEDIATE ACTIONS ON THE ISSUE ? WHERE WAS THE ACCOUNTABILITY FROM MANAGMENT FROM LAND ROVER ? RISKWAS SIMPLY NOT ACCEPTABLE TO THE PASSENGERS IN THE CAR.*AK
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 LAND ROVER LR3. THE CONTACT STATED THAT ALL FOUR TIRES HAVE EXTREME INSIDE WEAR. WHILE DRIVING 55 MPH, SHE FELT A VIBRATION, LOOKED UNDER THE VEHICLE, AND NOTICED THAT THE TIRES LOOKED COMPLETELY WORN. THE CONTACT TOOK THE VEHICLE TO A TIRE STORE AND WAS INFORMED THAT HER TIRES WERE SO BAD, THAT THE VEHICLE SHOULD NOT BE DRIVEN. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO THE DEALER WHO STATED THAT THIS IS VERY UNUSUAL BECAUSE THE VEHICLE ONLY HAS 15,000 MILES. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE FAILURE WAS DUE TO THE ALIGNMENT ON THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE 16,000.
MY 2005 LR3 HAD NUMEROUS PROBLEMS WITH THE AIR SUSPENSION. THE COMPRESSOR HAD TO BE REPLACED 2 TIMES, AND I HAD 2 OR 3 DIFFERENT SOFTWARE UPDATES. RECENTLY IT STARTED WITH TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS, ALSO AFFECTING THE ELECTRONIC PARKING BRAKE. FIRST TIME IN JAN 07 CAR WAS TOWED TO DEALER, WHO SAID IT JUST NEEDED A SOFTWARE UPDATE. THE SECOND TIME JUST NOW IN APRIL I GOT TRANSMISSION PROBLEMS, ABS WARNING, SUSPENSION FAILURE. DEALER TOLD ME THAT WAS A KNOWN PROBLEM WITH LR3 AND NOTHING TO WORRY, IT JUST WAS ELECTRONIC AND NEEDED AGAIN ANOTHER COMPUTER UPDATE. BUT HOW CAN I KNOW IT IS STILL SAFE? I ALSO HAVE INTERMITTENT PROBLEMS WITH WINDOW SWITCHES AND STEERING WHEEL MOUNTED CONTROLS WHO GO TOTALLY CRAZY. *JB
PLEASE MAKE FORMAL NOTE THAT THE 2005 LAND ROVER LR-3 I PURCHASED NEW IN 2005 (VIN # BELOW) FROM THE DEALER AT LAND ROVER NORTH SCOTTSDALE HAS AN ENDEMIC AND SYSTEMATIC DOOR LOCK SAFETY FAULT PROBLEM. SINCE MY PURCHASE OF MY LR-3 I HAVE HAD TO REPLACE THE PASSENGER DOOR [2 TIMES], REAR PASSENGER DOOR, REAR DRIVER DOOR, AND NOW THE DRIVER DOOR LOCK HAS FAILED. THESE DOORS FAIL TO LOCK WHEN ENGAGED. THEY CLICK AS IF LOCKING, BUT ARE OPEN IF HANDLE IS PULLED WITH MINIMAL FORCE FROM INSIDE OR OUT. THIS HAS PROVEN A SAFETY ISSUE WHEN PASSENGERS ARE INSIDE AND ASSUME THE DOORS ARE LOCKED, OR WHEN A CHILD IS INSIDE AND THE DRIVER ASSUMES CHILD LOCKS, AND OR LOCKS ARE ENGAGED AND THEY ACTUALLY ARE NOT CAUSING A RISK OF FALL OR DEATH FROM THE VEHICLE. FURTHER, WE BECAME AWARE OF THE FINAL OF 4 DOOR LOCK FAILURES WHEN AN UNINVITED PANHANDLER PULLED THE "LOCKED" DRIVER DOOR OPEN. LUCKILY NO INCIDENT OR INJURIES WERE OCCURRED. NONE THE LESS THIS IS A MAJOR ISSUE WHEN ALL 4 DOORS FAIL. I HAVE A FRIEND WITH A 2008 LR-3 AND THE SAME HAS HAPPENED TO 2 OF HIS DOORS. THIS HAS BEEN A MAJOR, MAJOR EXPENSE TO REPAIR THESE LOCKS YET LAND ROVER HAS FAILED TO ACKNOWLEDGE THAT A PROBLEM EVER EXISTED. STATISTICALLY SPEAKING 4 OUT OF 4 DOORS IS A 100% FAILURE RATE. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS MAJOR SAFETY ISSUE IMMEDIATELY, AND CHECK FOR ANY DEATHS OR HARM THAT MAY HAVE OCCURRED DUE TO LAND ROVERS FAILURE TO ACKNOWLEDGE THEIR FAULTY LOCK SYSTEM IN THESE VEHICLES. SUSPENSION DROPS AND RAISES WHILE DRIVING. LIGHTS AND ALARMS ON DASH. UNABLE TO DRIVE CAR SAFELY. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP AND "FRONT HEIGHT SENSORS" REPLACED. CAR AT DEALERSHIP FOR 8 DAYS. PICKED UP CAR AND DROVE FOR 2 WEEKS AND NOTICED DIFFICULTY DRIVING CAR, AND A "TIN CAN SOUND" UNDER CAR. LOOKED UNDER CAR AND FOUND EXTREME INSIDE WEAR ON TIRES - ESPECIALLY REAR TIRES WHERE STEEL TREAD EXPOSED. TOOK CAR TO A TIRE REPAIR/REPLACEMENT ESTABLISHMENT AND INFORMED THAT "CAMBRS" WERE "OUT" AND CAR VERY UNSAFE TO DRIVE. TIRES REPLACED WITH NEW TIRES. DEALERSHIP DID NOT INFORM CUSTOMER OF "EXTREME" INSIDE WEAR ON REAR TIRES. THIS DEFECT SHOULD HAVE BEEN REPAIRED WHILE THE CAR WAS AT THE DEALERSHIP FOR 8 DAYS. FAMILY DROVE ON STEEP MOUNTAIN ROADS WHILE THESE TIRES WERE WORN AND OUTCOME COULD HAVE BEEN DEADLY. *TR
2005 LR3. UNABLE TO UNLOCK DOORS WITH KEY REMOTE. OPENED DOORS MANUALLY. TOOK CAR TO DEALERSHIP. AFTER 6 DAYS, NOTIFIED THAT ELECTRICAL SYSTEM FAILED DUE TO WATER LEAKING INTO CAR. TWO DRAINS FROM SUNROOF WERE "SPLICED" AND WATER DRAINING INTO INTERIOR OF CAR RESULTING IN "MOLD" THROUGHOUT MAT AND CARPET. CARPET AND PAD REMOVED AND TREATED WITH "LYSOL" ONLY, RECARPETED, AND ELECTRICAL REPAIRED. NOT CONVINCED THAT MOLD PROBLEM RESOLVED COMPLETELY. MOTHER AND 10 YEAR OLD CHILD SUFFERED CHRONIC BRONCHIAL PROBLEMS FOR THE FIRST THREE MONTHS OF THIS YEAR (2007). *TR
TODAY, I WAS DRIVING MY 2005 LAND ROVER LR3 (WHICH I HAVE OWNED FOR A WEEK) DOWN A MAJOR HIGHWAY WHEN ALL OF A SUDDEN IT COMPLETELY LOCKED UP AND SLAMMED TO A STOP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE HIGHWAY. THE ENGINE WAS STILL RUNNING, BUT THE CAR JUST MADE A GRINDING NOISE IN EVERY GEAR AND WAS COMPLETELY IMMOBILE. THE POLICE COULD NOT BUDGE IT, EVEN IN NEUTRAL. THE TOW TRUCK DRIVER HAD TO PULL IT UP ONTO THE TRUCK AS IT WOULD NOT EVEN ROLL. WHEN THE LAND ROVER DEALER TOOK A LOOK AT IT, THEY SAID THAT THE FRONT DIFFERENTIAL WAS COMPLETELY GONE/RUINED AND THAT WAS "UNUSUAL". A NEW FRONT DIFFERENTIAL IS NOW ON ORDER, AND THEY EXPECT THAT WILL TAKE 3 WEEKS. WE FEEL LUCKY TO BE ALIVE AND NOT TO HAVE CAUSED A SERIOUS ACCIDENT. *JB

DT*: THE CONTACT STATED, WHEN A FLAT TIRE WAS CHANGED, THE FULL SIZE SPARE WAS LARGER THAN THE ORIGINAL TIRE. THE SERVICE DEALER AND THE MANUFACTURER WERE CONTACTED.
ONE DAY AFTER STARTING THE VEHICLE, ALMOST EVERY WARNING LIGHT ILLUMINATED, SUSPENSION DID NOT INFLATE TO NORMAL HEIGHT, PARKING BRAKE STAYED ON, AND DISPLAY SHOWED "HDC FAILURE." RESTARTING VEHICLE FIXED THE PROBLEM. ARE THEY USING WINDOWS NOW? *JB
ALL FOUR TIRES HAD TO BE REPLACED BECAUSE OF EXCESSIVE WEARING AND CUPPING ON THE INSIDE OF THE TIRES. ALL FOUR TIRES WERE WORN TO THE WEAR BARS, WITH LESS THAN 16,000 MILES ON THE VEHICLE. IF THIS WAS NOT PERSONALLY NOTICED, A FAILURE OF A TIRE COULD HAVE LEAD TO A ROLL OVER OF THE VEHICLE. THE TIRES WERE REPLACED BY THE DEALER WITH MYSELF PAYING FOR THEM, AND TO PAY FOR A WHEEL ALIGNMENT. THE WHEELS ARE ALWAYS IN A NEGATIVE CAMBER, BY DESIGN, WHICH CAUSES THE TIRES TO WEAR ON THE INSIDE. I HAVE HEARD OF OTHERS HAVING THIS PROBLEM, WHILE IN FOR SERVICE I LOOKED AT OTHER VEHICLES IN FOR SERVICE, AND THEY ALL HAD TIRE WEAR ON THE INSIDE. PLEASE INVESTIGATE THIS BEFORE SOME SOCCER MOM ROLLS OVER AND CHILDREN ARE INJURED. *JB
DT*: THE CONTACT STATED THERE WERE NO WARNING INDICATORS OF A PROBLEM, BUT UPON INSPECTION, THE TREAD ON BOTH REAR TIRES WAS SEVERELY WORN. THERE WAS NOT ANY VIBRATION FELT OR BULGING NOTED FROM THE TIRES. THE TIRES ONLY HAD LESS THAN 15,000 MILES AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT. THE TIRES DID NOT GO FLAT, BUT THE STEEL BELTS WERE SHOWING, MAKING THE TIRES UNSAFE. THE VEHICLE WAS ALIGNED AFTER INSTALLING THE NEW TIRES, AND THE DEALERSHIP INFORMED THE CONTACT THERE WAS NO INDICATION THE VEHICLE WAS OUT OF ALIGNMENT OR ANYTHING THAT WOULD HAVE CAUSED UNEVEN WEAR ON THE TIRES. THE TIRES HAD BEEN PROPERLY MAINTAINED WITH THE PROPER AIR PRESSURE AND REGULAR ROTATION. THE TIRES WERE GOODYEAR WRANGLER SIZE: 255/60R18. *AK
TRANSMISSION DEFECTS. WE CONTINUE TO EXPERIENCE LOUD ?CLUNKING? NOISES FROM THE TRANSMISSION AFTER ACCELERATING FROM A NEAR STOP. THIS RESULTS IN A VERY HARD SHIFT WHEN THE TRANSMISSION SLAMS INTO 1ST GEAR, RATHER THAN STAY IN 2ND AND CONTINUE TO SHIFT FROM THERE. *TR
FAILURE OF NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER : 05V376000. FUEL TANK RECALL. THE FUEL TANK WAS REPLACED PER RECALL BUT FAILURE OCCURRED. VEHICLE WOULD NOT START AND SEVERAL GALLONS OF GAS WAS DUMPED ON THE GROUND CAUSING A FIRE HAZARD. FIRE DEPARTMENT RESPONDED. FIRE DEPARTMENT CLEARED VEHICLE TO TOW TO DEALER. FAILURE CORRECTED - RETURN GAS HOSE FROM HAD BECOME DISCONNECTED FROM FUEL TANK RESULTING IN FUEL SPILLAGE. *JB
DEALERSHIP HAS NOT FIXED RECALL ON CAR. THE RECALL IS A SAFETY RECALL TO HAVE THE GAS TANK REPLACED. *NM
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 LAND ROVER LR3. APPROXIMATELY THREE YEARS AGO, THE ENGINE LIGHT CONSTANTLY ILLUMINATED ON THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. AS A RESULT, THE VEHICLE WAS CONSTANTLY AT THE DEALER BEING REPAIRED. TWO YEARS AGO, THE CONTACT RECEIVED A RECALL NOTICE REGARDING THE FUEL SYSTEM. THE VEHICLE ALSO HAS OTHER ISSUES AND THE DEALER INSTALLED A NEW COMPRESSOR. THE CONTACT IS STILL CONSTANTLY HAVING TO TAKE THE VEHICLE TO THE DEALER FOR REPAIRS. THE VIN AND NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID NUMBER WERE UNKNOWN. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 38,727.
DT: CONTACT STATES THERE IS AN ONGOING PROBLEM WITH THE AIR SUSPENSION. A WARNING LIGHT CAME ON, INDICATING A PROBLEM WITH THE SUSPENSION. THE VEHICLE HAS BEEN TO A SERVICE DEALER, BUT THEY WERE UNABLE TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM. THE DEALER STATED THE AIR COMPRESSOR WAS DEFECTIVE. TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 LAND ROVER LR3. THE CONTACT STATED THAT AIR COMPRESSORS THAT RAISED THE VEHICLE UP AND DOWN WERE DEFECTIVE. THE AIR SUSPENSION LIGHT ILLUMINATED WHICH INDICATED A PROBLEM WITH THE SUSPENSION. THE COMPRESSORS WERE FIRST REPLACED IN 2005. THE CONTACT NOTICED THAT THE AIR COMPRESSORS RELATED TO THE AIR SUSPENSION FAILED AGAIN OCTOBER 2010. THE CONTACT SCHEDULED AN APPOINTMENT WITH THE DEALER FOR MID OCTOBER 2010. THE VEHICLE HAD NOT BEEN REPAIRED AGAIN. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN NOTIFIED. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE. THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 80,000. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 1,000. I SEE GAS POURING OUT THE RIGHT REAR OF THE CAR, ON TOP OF THE HOT EXHAUST PIPE... CAUSING THE GAS TO VAPORIZE AND SMOKE. I OPENED THE FUEL DOOR AND REMOVED THE FUEL CAP. SOUNDS LIKE A LIQUID WAS VIOLENTLY BOILING CAME FROM THE FILLER PIPE. A PASSING MOTORCYCLIST WHO WAS BEHIND ME STOPPED TO LET ME KNOW HE THOUGHT I WAS ALSO LEAKING GAS. VEHICLES FUEL TANK HAD JUST BEEN FILLED, AFTER APPROXIMATELY TEN (10) MILES THE VEHICLE BEGAN TO EXHIBIT A LOW POWER SITUATION AND THEN BEGAN TO STALL AT IDLE, SUCH AS STOPPING AT A STOP SIGN OR STOP LIGHT. VEHICLE WAS LIMPED APPROXIMATELY TWO (2) MILES TO OWNERS RESIDENCE WHERE IT WAS ALLOWED TO SIT FOR APPROXIMATELY FORTY-FIVE (45) MINUTES INSIDE A CLOSED GARAGE. UPON RETURNING TO THE GARAGE A STRONG ODOR OF FUEL WAS PRESENT. UPON EXAMINATION OF THE VEHICLE IT WAS FOUND THAT A STEADY DRIP OF FUEL WAS COMING FROM AN UNKNOWN LOCATION ON THE UNDERSIDE OF THE REAR OF THE VEHICLE, AND DRIPPING ONTO THE EXHAUST PIPE, SUSPENSION COMPONENTS, AND THEN ON TO THE GARAGE FLOOR. AFTER APPROXIMATELY FIVE (5) MINUTES THE DRIPPING BEGAN TO SLOW AND THEN STOPPED. APPROXIMATELY ONE (1) QUART OF GASOLINE HAD SPILLED ONTO THE GARAGE FLOOR LEAVING A PUDDLE APPROXIMATELY FIVE (5) FEET IN DIAMETER. THE SPILL WAS IMMEDIATELY TREATED WITH A SPILL ABSORBING MATERIAL (CAT LITTER.) LAND ROVER NORTH AMERICA, ROADSIDE ASSISTANCE WAS IMMEDIATELY CONTACTED AND REQUIRED THE OWNER TO IMMEDIATELY CONTACT THE LOCAL FIRE DEPARTMENT TO COME VERIFY THAT THE VEHICLE WAS NOT A THREAT TO THE RESIDENCE AND WOULD BE SAFE FOR FLATBED TRANSPORT TO THE NEAREST AUTHORIZED DEALER. UPON INSPECTION, THE DEALERSHIP NOTIFIED THE OWNER THAT THE VEHICLES FUEL TANK HAD A FAULTY INTERNAL VALVE AND THE FUEL TANK WOULD NEED TO BE REPLACED. DEALER WAS INFORMED BY LAND ROVER NORTH AMERICA THAT THE FUEL TANK WITH THE REVISED VALVE WAS ON BACKORDER AND NO DATE WAS GIVEN FOR THE REPLACEMENT PART TO ARRIVE. DEALERSHIP SERVICE DEPARTMENT INFORMED THE OWNER THAT THEY WERE ATTEMPTING TO FIND A REPLACEMENT TANK BY CONTACTING OTHER DEALERS AND PERSONAL CONTACTS. *JB

WE HAVE OWNED THE LR3 MODEL OF LAND ROVER SINCE DEC. 2004, AND SINCE THE CAR WAS SIX MONTHS UP TO THE PRESENT DAY, THE CARE EXPERIENCES TOTAL SYSTEM FAILURE AT ANY GIVEN RANDOM POINT IN TIME. WHEN THIS FAILURE OCCURS ONE CAN NOT CONTROL THE CAR, CAN NOT BRAKE, CAN NOT ACCELERATE, IT JUST FREEZES, AND STALLS ON YOU. I WAS DRIVING ON THE HIGHWAY IN JUNE WHEN THIS FIRST HAPPENED AND THIS OCCURRED TO ME THREE TIMES IN A ROW WITHIN HOURS. I HAD TO WAIT FOR THE CAR TO KICK ITSELF OUT OF ITS FROZEN TRANCE AND REGAINED CONTROL. TOOK IT THE NEXT DAY TO THE SERVICE AND THEY COULD NOT RE-CREATE THE PROBLEM SO THEY DID NOTHING. I ALSO FELT THEY DID NOT TAKE MY COMPLAINT SERIOUSLY. IT HAPPENED AGAIN IN AUGUST AND THEN IN SEPTEMBER AND THEY SAID THE CAR NEEDED SOFTWARE UPDATING, OR AT LEAST THAT WAS THE EXCUSE THEY GAVE TO ME THAT OCCASION. I KEPT EXPRESSING MY CONCERNS THAT IT WAS MORE THAN SOFTWARE BUT TO NO AVAIL. THEN SOON AFTER, I COULD NOT TURN THE CAR ON, THE CAR WOULD STALL WITH FREQUENCY AND SOME MORE COMPLETE FAILURES. SO AGAIN I TOOK IT BACK IN, AND THEY EXPERIENCED THIS FAILURE CONDITION TWICE IN THEIR OWN SERVICE AREA. THE CAR WAS IN SERVICE FOR ALMOST TWO WEEKS AND THEY CONCLUDED IT WAS "CABLE" TROUBLES. THERE IS NO GUARANTEE IN OUR OPINION THAT THIS WILL NOT HAPPEN AGAIN AND IF IT DOES THIS SERIOUSLY POSES A THREAT OF LIFE OR RISK OF INJURY NOT ONLY TO ME, MY SPOUSE, BUT ALSO TO MY CHILDREN, OR OTHERS ON THE ROAD. WHILE DRIVING THE VEHICLE IN THE SECOND WEEK, I EXPERIENCED POWER FAILURE AND I CALLED THE DEALERSHIP. THAT SAME WEEK, I GOT AN ALERT FROM THE CAR'S COMPUTER THAT TOLD ME TO CONTACT THE DEALERSHIP IMMEDIATELY. I DID SO AND THE DEALERSHIP PICKED UP THE VEHICLE. IT WAS RETURNED AFTER 3 DAYS AND I WAS TOLD THE ONLY PROBLEM WAS THAT THE GAS CAP WAS NOT PUT ON TIGHTLY ENOUGH. THE FIRST OF THE NEXT WEEK, I WAS ON MY WAY OUT OF TOWN, AND EXPERIENCED THE SAME LOSS OF POWER. I DROVE IT IMMEDIATELY TO THE DEALERSHIP AND AFTER WAITING AN HOUR, WAS TOLD IT WOULD TAKE ABOUT 2 HOURS TO FIX THE PROBLEM- A VACCUM LEAK. WHEN I DID NOT RECEIVE THE CAR BACK 2 BUSINESS DAYS LATER (AFTER MULTIPLE CALLS TO THE DEALERSHIP), I WAS TOLD THE ENGINE HAD A NOISE AND THEY DID NOT KNOW HOW TO FIX IT. NOW I AM BEING TOLD THEY ARE BRINGING IN A SPECIALIST AND HOPE TO HAVE IT BACK TO ME IN A FEW DAYS-"IT WILL TAKE SEVERAL MORE DAYS, BUT WE THINK IT CAN BE FIXED." THEY HAVE NOW HAD MY VEHICLE FOR A WEEK AND HALF FOR THIS LAST PROBLEM- AND DO NOT FORSEE GETTING IT BACK THIS WEEK. THE VEHICLE HAD NO ELECTRICAL POWER. NO DASH BOARD LIGHTS, THEN IN JUNE 2005 THE CAR WAS BEING DRIVEN IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD . CONSUMER WAS ADVISED THAT IT WAS A PROBLEM WITH SOME CHIP IN THE CAR, AND IT WAS PICKED UP THE NEXT DAY. THE CAR DID NOT HAVE THIS PROBLEM AGAIN UNTIL LAST NIGHT WHEN BATTERY LIGHT AND AIR BAG LIGHT CAME ON. THEN CONSUMER PULLED OVER, AND PUT THE CAR WAS IN PARK. THEN CONSUMER TRIED TO PUT IT IN DRIVE, AND THE TRANSMISSION WAS LOCKED. THERE WAS VERY LOW POWER, THE WINDOWS WOULD ROLL DOWN SLOWLY.
