TAKATA RECALL. ALL LAND ROVER/JAGUAR 5.0 ENGINES FROM 2010 TO 2013 ARE AFFECTED BY TIMING CHAIN TENSIONER GUIDES. THIS WAS AN ENGINEERING ERROR ON OEM EQUIPMENT. TIMING GUIDES ARE MADE OF ALUMINIUM AND PISTON ON TENSIONER IS STEEL. ENGINE WILL DEVELOP A TICK/KNOCK. NOT ADDRESSING THE ISSUE WILL LEAD TO TIMING ISSUES AND ENGINE FAILURES. LAND ROVER/JAGUAR IS AWARE OF THE ISSUE AND FIX IS AT CONSUMER EXPENSE OF OVER $5K. THEY WILL INSTALL A NEWLY DESIGNED GUIDE WITH A STEEL "BUTTON" INSERT FOR PISTON TO REST ON. IVE SEEN POSTS WITH ISSUES ARISING AS LITTLE AS 7K MILES. NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS WITH THIS ISSUE. THIS ISSUE SHOULD'VE BEEN ADDRESSED AS A RECALL.
THE CAR WAS LEAKING GASOLINE. LIKE ANOTHER COMPLAINT ON THIS SITE AND OTHERS ON THE INTERNET, A PLASTIC FLANGE ON THE FUEL PUMP CRACKS. THE DEALERSHIP HAS NO IDEA OF THIS KNOWN PROBLEM. I BELIEVE THIS SHOULD BE A RECALL ITEM BECAUSE LEAKING FUEL IS UNSAFE AND CAN CAUSE A CATASTROPHIC FIRE, EXPLOSION AND LOSS OF LIFE.
TAKATA RECALL LAND ROVER REFUSES TO REPLACE AIRBAGS BECAUSE WE LIVE IN ANCHORAGE, AK. NO DEALERSHIP IN ANCHORAGE
KNOWN PROBLEM , HOWEVER LAND ROVER NA HAS NOT ADDRESSED . TIMING CHAIN GUIDES WEAR PRE MATURELY CAUSING KNOCK IN MOTOR WHICH COULD LEAD TO CATASTROPHIC FAILURE . AS A MECHANIC THIS IS A SAFETY CONCERN THIS IS A VERY POPULAR ISSUE WITH THE 2010-2012 5.0L MOTORS . THERE IS AN UPDATED TIMING CHAIN QUIDE , HOWEVER THIS JOB IS 2-4K DOLLARS TO COMPLETE .
SMELLS LIKE GAS. DEFECTIVE FUEL FLANGE.
WHILE ATTEMPTING TO CHANGE A FLAT TIRE USING THE FACTORY SUPPLIED VEHICLE JACK, THE JACK FELL OVER AND CAUSED THE VEHICLE TO FALL, PINNING MY HAND IN BETWEEN THE SPARE TIRE AND THE REAR LEFT FENDER. THE VEHICLE WAS STATIONARY AT THE TIME WITH THE EMERGENCY BRAKE ENGAGED. MY HAND WAS PINNED FOR ABOUT 3-5 MINUTES BEFORE MY SON AND A GOOD SAMARITAN WERE ABLE TO LIFT THE VEHICLE OFF OF MY HAND. I LATER HAD X-RAYS DONE, WHICH WERE NEGATIVE. MY HAND WAS CUT AND BRUISED, SO I DID HAVE TO GET A TETANUS SHOT.
SIDE CURTAIN AIRBAGS DEPLOYED SPONTANEOUSLY SENDING FRAGMENTS OF METAL AND PIECES OF PLASTIC INTO THE INTERIOR OF THE CAR. THE CAR WAS DRIVING AT 16 MPH ON A NEIGHBORHOOD STREET.
I WAS DRIVING DOWN THE FREEWAY AT APPROXIMATELY 70 MPH WHEN MY SUNROOF EXPLODED FOR NO APPARENT REASON. IT SOUNDED LIKE A SHOT GUN WENT OFF IN MY CAR AND SCARED ME SO BAD I NEARLY LOST CONTROL OF THE VEHICLE. I LITERALLY THOUGHT I WAS BEING SHOT AT. IT TOOK ME A SECOND TO REALIZE WHAT HAD HAPPENED. I LOOKED AROUND AND THERE WAS GLASS ALL OVER MYSELF (DRIVER), AND THE FRONT SEATS. MOST OF THE GLASS LANDED IN MY CHILD'S CAR SEAT ON THE REAR DRIVERS SIDE. THANKFULLY HE WASN'T IN THE VEHICLE. THIS IS A SERIOUS PROBLEM. I THOUGHT AT FIRST IT WAS A ROCK THAT BOUNCED OFF THE GLASS ON THE SUNROOF, BUT THERE WAS NOT A MARK ON THE ROOF OF THE CAR. I FILED AN INSURANCE CLAIM AND THEY ARE REPAIRING IT THIS COMING SATURDAY. IN THE MEANTIME I HAVE SHUT THE SUNROOF COVER TO MAKE SURE GLASS ISN'T COMING THROUGH THE CAR.
2011 RANGE ROVER. CONSUMER WRITES IN REGARDS TO TAKATA AIRBAG SAFETY RECALL. *LD THE CONSUMER STATED THE MANUFACTURER EXCEEDED A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME TO COMPLETE THE RECALL REPAIR. UPDATED 10/24/2017*JS
THERE IS A RECALL FOR THE SPOILER DETACHING FROM THE CAR AS OF 11/20/2020 HOWEVER THIS HAPPENED TO MY VEHICLE IN SEPT 2017 AND I HAD TO PAY FOR THE REPAIR AS THE DEALER REFUSED TO. AM I ELIGIBLE TO BE REIMBURSED FOR THIS NOW.
TAKATA RECALL. THIS RECALL HAS BEEN FOR ALMOST 1 YEAR, AND LAND ROVER HAS NOT DONE ANYTHING ABOUT IT. I BASICALLY CANNOT DRIVE WITH ANY PASSENGERS IN THE FRONT SEAT.
AT 55 MPH TRAVELING ON GA HIGHWAY 17, THE REAR SPOILER SPONTANEOUSLY DETACHED FROM THE FRAME. A PIECE OF THE SPOILER SURROUNDING THE REAR CAMERA SHEARED FROM THE BULK OF THE SPOILER AND WAS LEFT DANGLING FROM THE AUTOMOBILE. I WAS ABLE TO FIND THE SPOILER IN A DITCH FORTUNATELY NOT BEING HIT BY VEHICLES BEHIND ME. I CALLED LAND ROVER OF HILTON HEAD, SPOKE WITH, AND DROVE THE AUTO TO THE SERVICE MANAGER, THOMAS. HE TOLD ME THAT HE HAD NEVER SEEN OR HEARD OF THIS AND IT MUST HAVE BEEN MY FAULT FOR BUMPING THE REAR WINDOW ON A GARAGE DOOR ( NOTE NO MARKS NOTED AS REFLECTED IN LATER NOTE FROM SAME DEALERSHIP). (ALSO NOTE THE SPOILER AND REAR CAMERA ARE MOUNTED MUCH LOWER THAN THE REAR WINDOW WHEN OPEN AND THUS NOT SUSCEPTIBLE TO ALLEGED CAUSE. MULTIPLE CALLS TO DAYNA, CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE AT LAND ROVER N.A. NO RESOLUTION. RETURN TRIP TO SERVICE DEPARTMENT WITH ANOTHER SERVICE PERSON REVEALED HIS FINDINGS, INCLUDED AND ATTACHED. HE STATED THIS WAS NOT UNCOMMON AND SHOWED ME A REPORT FROM ANOTHER VEHICLE 3-4 MONTHS PREVIOUS AT THE SAME DEALERSHIP. PLEASE NOTE THAT ON OTHER VEHICLES INCLUDING MERCEDES 2016 E SERIES RECALLS FOR SIMILAR PROBLEMS FOR INSPECTION AND REPLACEMENT. THE SERVICE DEPARTMENT HAS NEGLECTED THE SERIOUSNESS OF THIS ISSUE. HAD ANYONE BEEN FOLLOWING ME, A SERIOUS ACCIDENT COULD HAVE OCCURRED, ESPECIALLY WITH A MOTORCYCLE. RESULTING DAMAGE AND POSSIBLE DEATHS WOULD THEN HAVE BEEN DIRECTED TOWARD ME PERSONALLY AND LAND ROVER OF N.A. I HAVE INCLUDE MULTIPLE COMMUNICATIONS, NAMES, PICTURES, ETC TO SHOW THE INHERENT DANGER IN THE ADMITTED FAILED ADHESIVE PROBLEM. SIMPLY READING THE SECOND SERVICE PERSONS EVALUATION SHOWS THEIR KNOWLEDGE OF THIS DANGER. I HAVE MULTIPLE PHONE CALLS AND THREE EMAILS TO FURTHER DOCUMENT. I BELIEVE IMMEDIATE ACTION SHOULD BE TAKEN ON THESE SPOILERS TO PREVENT POTENTIAL DEATHS
I HAVE AN ID NUMBER 10984367 BUT BELIEVE THE DOCUMENTS WERE NOT UPLOADED. THESE ARE IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS RECOGNIZING HILTON HEAD LAND ROVER WAS AWARE OF OTHER REAR SPOILER DETACHMENTS OTHER THAN MINE. PLEASE NOTE SERVICE MANAGER DENIED EVER HAVING HEARD OR SEEN OF THIS BUT SERVICE ADVISOR BOB ROBERTSON SAID HE HAD JUST SEEN IT A FEW MONTHS BEFORE. I HAVE ENCLOSED THE DOCUMENT STATING ADHESIVE FAILURE. THIS IS EXTREMELY DANGEROUS. I HAVE ATTEMPTED TO HANDLE THIS THROUGH LAND ROVER NA AND THE DEALERSHIP BUT HAVE HAD NO RESULTS. I BELIEVE THIS POSES A DANGER TO THE PUBLIC IF LEFT UNCHECKED.
The contact owns a 2011 Land Rover Range Rover Sport. The contact stated that the vehicle had been flooded from the driver's side, passenger’s side, and the sunroof. The contact stated that there was water running throughout the vehicle. The vehicle had an abnormal odor. The contact called the local dealer and the contact was informed that the vehicle was not covered under warranty. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 46,000.
TAKATA RECALL. MY RANGE ROVER IS A PART OF THE AIRBAG RECALL AND I'M UNABLE TO TRADE-IN THE CAR WHILE THE RECALL IS OPEN. I NEED TO BE ABLE TO TRADE-IN THE CAR, AS I'D LIKE TO PURCHASE A NEW CAR.

THE FUEL GAUGE IS NOT WORKING PROPERLY IT SHOWED A QUARTER TANK OF GAS LEFT, BUT THE CAR RAN OUT OF GAS. VERY CONCERNED ABOUT MY FAMILY RUNNING OUT OF GAS ON THE HIGHWAY. COULD BE A DANGEROUS SITUATION.
The contact owns a 2011 Land Rover Range Rover Sport. The contact stated while driving approximately 70 MPH, the rear spoiler detached from the vehicle. The contact stated that the spoiler detached with a loud snapping sound. The contact took the vehicle to the local dealer, where it was diagnosed and the spoiler was replaced. The contact then received notification of NHTSA Safety Campaign: 20V623000 (Structure). The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 64,611.
ON OR ABOUT SEPTEMPBER 2013 I PURCHASED LANDROVER FROM HORNBURG DEALERSHIP FOR A PRICE OF $50,500. IN OCTOBER 2013 TRANSMISSION FAULT LIGHT CAME ON THEN OFF CONTACTED THE DEALER FOR REMEDY. IN SEPTEMBER 2013 INSPECTED THE AIR SUSPENSION WAS FAULTY REMEDIED IN 2015 CONTACTED THE DEALER FOR REMEDY. IN SEPTEMBER 2013 TO INSPECTED FOR TRANSMISSION LIGHT CONTACTED THE DEALER FOR REMEDY. IN SEPTEMBER, 2014 TIRES WAS REPLACE INCORRECT TIRES ON VEHICLE CONTACTED THE DEALER FOR REMEDY. IN AUGUST 2015 TRANSMISSION FAULT LIGHT CAME ON AND OFF CONTACTED THE DEALER FOR REMEDY. IN SEPTEMBER 2015 TRANSMISSION FAULT LIGHT CAME ON MULTIPLE TIMES CONTACTED THE DEALER FOR REMEDY. IN OCTOBER 2015 TRANSMISSION LIGHT CAME ON MULTIPLE TIMES CONTACTED THE DEALER FOR REMEDY. BEEN HAVING ISSUES WITH MY 2011 LAND ROVER BACK AND FORTH TO THE DEALER FOR REMEDY. DESPITE REPEATED ATTEMPTS AT REPAIR BY LANDROVER FOR THE RECORD THE SERVICE REMAINS DEFECTIVE AND THEREFORE THERE HAS BEEN A FAILURE AND REFUSAL TO CONFORM THE PRODUCT TO ITS EXPRESS WARRANTY UNDER THE LAW.

THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHO REPLACED THE WEATHER STRIP. THE VEHICLE WAS REPAIRED. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED OF THE FAILURE. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 52,000.

ON JANUARY 3, 2014 (FRIDAY) MY YOUNG DAUGHTER AND I WERE ON WAY TO THE AIRPORT TO PICK UP MY SON. WE WERE ON 110 FWY WHEN SUDDENLY A WARNING "WARNING - BRAKE PADS WORN" CAME ON AND DISAPPEARED QUICKLY. I WAS SKEPTICAL, BUT I HAD TO GO AND PICK UP MY SON. BRAKES SEEMED TO WORK OK. I DROVE EXTREMELY SLOW IN SLOW LANE. ON OUR WAY BACK HOME, THE CAR STARTED TO MAKE LOUD METAL GRINDING NOISE EVERY TIME I BRAKED. I ASKED MY BOYFRIEND, ART, TO CALL PASADENA LAND ROVER TO ASK IF I SHOULD HAVE THE CAR TOWED. WE WERE TOLD TO BRING THE CAR ON SATURDAY MORNING. WE TOOK THE CAR IN SATURDAY MORNING TO LAND ROVER DEALER. I WAS ADVISED THAT NOT ONLY ALL THE BRAKE PADS WERE BAD, I HAD TO REPLACE THE ROTOR. I ENDED UP PAYING $1,679.99. DUE TO INSUFFICIENT AND INADEQUATE WARNING, NOT ONLY IT PUT MY CHILDREN AND MYSELF IN DANGER, CAUSED ADDITIONAL UNNECESSARY EXPENSES. I CONTACTED LAND ROVER CUSTOMER SERVICE AND FILED A COMPLAINT. DESPITE LEAVING MESSAGES, WE HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO SPEAK TO ANYONE. I AM EXTREMELY CONCERNED. WHAT IF WE WERE ON A LONG TRIP ON FREEWAY AND BRAKES FAIL. WHEN AND HOW WILL I KNOW IF BRAKE PADS ARE GOING BAD. *TR

THE CONTACT ACTIVATED THE EMERGENCY BRAKE IN ORDER TO STOP THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO A DEALER, WHO REPLACED THE HYDRAULIC BRAKE BOOSTER, BUT THE FAILURE PERSISTED. I WAS TRYING TO PARK THE CAR AND WAS AT A LOW SPEED. THE BRAKES DID NOT RESPOND. I THEN STOOD UP, HOLDING ON TO THE STEERING WHEEL. THE CAR THEN STOPPED. A SIMILAR INCIDENT HAPPEND ABOUT THREE OR FOUR MONTHS AGO WHEN MY HUSBAND WAS DRIVING THE CAR. *TR
CHICCO KEYFIT 30 BASE KEEPS COMING LOOSE. I'VE HAD THE INSTALLER COME OUT AT LEAST THREE TIMES TO INSTALL AND RETIGHTEN THE BASE. FINALLY WE RESORTED TO USING LOCKING CLIPS INSTEAD OF THE LOCKING MECHANISM ON THE BASE, WHICH HAS SPRUNG. I HAVE PICTURES IF NEEDED. *TR
WHILE DRIVING VEHICLE STRAIGHT ON A 2 LANE ROAD, SUDDENLY HAD TO SWERVE LEFT TO AVOID A CAR COMING OUT OF A PARKING LOT WITHOUT LOOKING - AND WITHOUT ANY WARNING THE POWER STEERING TOTALLY FAILED - AND I COULD NOT PULL THE HEAVY TRUCK BACK INTO THE LANE - AND ALMOST HAD A HEAD ON COLLISION!! MORE DISTURBING IS THE FACT THAT UPON INSPECTION, LAND ROVER AND THE LOCAL DEALER, LAND ROVER MAIN LINE IN PA, ADMITTED THIS HAPPENED TO ANOTHER CUSTOMER - BUT HAVE NO IDEA WHY THIS HAPPENED AND CAN NOT ASSURE THAT IT IS REPAIRED!!! THIS IS A DANGEROUS ISSUE! THERE MAY BE OTHER UNSUSPECTING DRIVERS ON THE ROAD IN 2011 RANGE ROVERS WHO MAY HAVE A HEAD ON COLLISION IF THIS HAPPENS TO THEM BECAUSE THE WHEEL IS VERY, VERY HEAVY TO TURN WITHOUT THE POWER ASSIST STEERING - AND - WHEN NOT EXPECTING THAT SUDDEN LOSS OF POWER ASSIST - THE RECIPE FOR DANGER IS HEIGHTENED! *TR
The fuel tank strap, also known as a fuel tank heat shield, protects the gas tank from debris during driving and off-road use. The original part number is WFN500021 which replaces WFI500053. Due to the metal chosen to make this shield, and the materials of other parts around it, it suffers from galvanic corrosion. As the tank shield starts to rust, that causes rust in other areas to start as well. The shield on my vehicle has probably about 30-40% of its original life left, and I do fear it falling out at some point and possibly the fuel tank going with it as the mounting points for the fuel tank may be corroded along with the tank strap.
WHILE DRIVING ON HIGHWAY AT SPEED, THE VEHICLE SUFFERED A COMPLETE POWER FAILURE. THE HEADLIGHTS TURNED OFF, THE ENGINE SHUT DOWN, THE DASHBOARD WENT DARK, AND THE POWER STEERING FAILED CAUSING ME TO SWERVE PARTIALLY OUT OF MY LANE (I WAS ON A CURVE). THE POWER THEN CAME BACK ON AND THE VEHICLE RESUMED FUNCTIONING NORMALLY. *TR
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2011 LAND ROVER RANGE ROVER SPORT (N/A). WHILE THE CONTACT WAS AT A COMPLETE STOP, HE NOTICED SMOKE AND A STRONG BURNING ODOR. THE CONTACT INSPECTED UNDERNEATH THE HOOD WITH THE GEAR PLACED IN PARK AND THE ENGINE IN OPERATION. THERE WERE SMALL FLAMES ERUPTING FROM THE BOTTOM OF THE ENGINE. THE ENGINE WAS TURNED OFF IMMEDIATELY AND THE FLAMES WERE NO LONGER VISIBLE. THERE WAS NO PERSONAL INJURY. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER WHO WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE THE CAUSE OF FAILURE. THE MANUFACTURER WAS MADE AWARE OF THE PROBLEM. THE APPROXIMATE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 6,200. THE VIN WAS UNAVAILABLE.
