Bought the vehicle new and has always been maintained by a dealer and mostly garage kept. We took it in to a local garage owner for air conditioning repair and he says we have a bigger problem and do we want to spend the money. The frame under the car is rusted through to the point of possibly snapping in half. We climbed under the car to confirm and took pictures. No warning, no recall and never a word from a dealer. I contacted Lexus and all they would say is there are no recalls for this vehicle and because of its age nothing and no compensation is required. KBB says the vehicle is worth approximately $10,000 but the fact is that it’s not saleable. In good conscience we couldn’t sell this vehicle to anyone! Toyota had a recall on the same frame, why was there none on this vehicle?
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 LEXUS GX470. THE CONTACT STATED HE NOTICED THAT THE SUBFRAME WAS CORRODED. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN INDEPENDENT MECHANIC AND THE CONTACT WAS INFORMED THAT THE CHASSIS WAS NEEDED TO BE REPLACED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DIAGNOSED NOR REPAIRED. A DEALER WAS NOT CONTACTED. THE MANUFACTURER HAD NOT BEEN INFORMED OF THE FAILURE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS APPROXIMATELY 153,000.
DASH BOARD HAS BEGUN TO CRACK. CONCERNED THERE WOULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE IF THE AIR BAGS WERE DEPLOYED. APPARENTLY THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE FOR THE LEXUS GX470 FROM READING OTHER COMPLAINTS. *TR
DASH BOARD HAS BEGUN TO CRACK. CONCERNED THERE WOULD BE A SAFETY ISSUE IF THE AIR BAGS WERE DEPLOYED. APPARENTLY THIS IS A COMMON ISSUE FOR THE LEXUS 03-09 IN THE GX MODEL AND ALSO THE RX MODEL. LEXUS IS FULL AWARE OF THE ISSUE, BUT HAS HAPPENED AFTER WARRANTY EXPIRED. *JS
NOTICE WHAT LOOKS LIKE A CUT ACROSS MY DASHBOARD, SO I ASKED MY DAUGHTERS DID ANYTHING HAPPENED WHILE THEY HAD THE TRUCK(?). I THAN GOOGLED CRACKED DASHBOARD ON GX470 2005 AND FIND MANY LEXUS OWNERS HAVE THIS PROBLEM. WITH ALL OWNERS WITH THE SAME COMPLAINT, I LOOKED FOR A RECALL. TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 LEXUS GX470. THE CONTACT STATED THE DASHBOARD CRACKED NEAR THE GLOVE COMPARTMENT. THE VEHICLE WAS INSPECTED BY THE DEALER WHO STATED THE CRACK ORIGINATED BEHIND DASHBOARD IN THE STEERING AREA DUE TO THE DEFECTIVE LEATHER. THE MANUFACTURER OFFERED TO ASSIST WITH HALF OF THE REPAIR COST. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 60,000 AND THE CURRENT MILEAGE WAS 60,100. UPDATED 2/19/13 *CN THE CONSUMER STATED THE DASHBOARD CRACKED ACROSS THE SEAM ON THE DRIVER'S SIDE, DURING THE FIRST YEAR. THEN MULTIPLE CRACKS APPEARED ALL OVER THE DASHBOARD, INCLUDING A CRACK NEAR THE PASSENGER AIR BAG. UPDATED 02/25/13
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2005 LEXUS GX470. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 25 MPH, WHEN AN OPPOSING VEHICLE CRASHED INTO THE VEHICLE. SUDDENLY, THE VEHICLE ROLLED OVER. THE THREE OCCUPANTS SUSTAINED MODERATE INJURIES AND WERE TRANSPORTED TO THE HOSPITAL. A POLICE REPORT WAS FILED. THE VEHICLE WAS COMPLETELY DESTROYED AND TOWED BY THE INSURANCE COMPANY. THE MANUFACTURER WAS NOTIFIED FIVE WEEKS PRIOR TO THE FAILURE REGARDING THE VEHICLE ROLLING OVER. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 73,000.
