THE DASHBOARD MELTS AND HAS A VERY GUMMY AND STICKY FEEL. ALSO IT NOW HAS CRACKED AND LIKELY SUBSTANTIALLY REDUCE THE VALUE OF THE VEHICLE NOT TO MENTION HOW TERRIBLE IT LOOKS.
IN DEC 2011, A REPUTABLE TOYOTA DEALER PERFORMED A RE-ALIGNMENT BECAUSE THE STEERING WAS PULLING TO THE RIGHT. THE CAR WAS FINE FOR A FEW WEEKS. IN FEB 2012, THE STEERING STARTED PULLING AGAIN. AGAIN TO THE RIGHT. *TR MY CONCERN IS THAT SOMETHING BASIC IS WRONG WITH THE STEERING/ALIGNMENT MECHANISM.
BY DESIGN THE ELECTRIC TAILGATE DOES NOT REVERSE WHEN IN THE PROCESS OF CLOSING THEREBY TRAPPING A PERSON IF THEY ARE NOT CLEAR OF THE TAILGATE RESULTING IN INJURY. *TR
PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG SYSTEM OF LEXUS RX 350 (2009) WILL NOT WORK FOR LIGHT WEIGHT PERSON WHOSE WEIGHT IS LESS THAN 90 LBS WHILE OTHER AUTOMAKER?S PASSENGER SIDE AIR BAG SYSTEM WORKS FOR PERSON EVEN WHOSE WEIGHT IS AROUND 60 LBS. OWNER?S MANUAL DOES NOT SPECIFY REQUIRED OR SUGGESTED WEIGHT OF A PERSON FOR WHICH PASSENGER SIDE AIRBAG SYSTEM DESIGNED TO FUNCTIONING. DEALERSHIP SAID AFTER ADJUSTING ZERO WEIGHT CALIBRATION, IT WAS DESIGNED AS SUCH WAY AND COULD NOT FIX THE ISSUE. THIS ISSUE MAY HAVE SOME CONCERN FOR FAMILIES THOSE WHO HAVE LIGHT WEIGHT FAMILY MEMBER LESS THAN 90 LBS WHEN SELECTING THIS MODEL. *TT
I HAD VISITED THE DEALER SEVERAL TIMES TO TELL THEM FIRST ABOUT MY LEATHER SEATS. THE LEATHER HAS CRACKED AND THE LAYER HAS PEELED. AND MY DASHBOARD HAS CRACKS AND IT IS MELTED. EVERY TIME THE CAR WENT INTO SERVICE I HAD SPOKEN WITH SEVERAL ADVISORS AND 2-3 SERVICE MANAGERS. THEY TOOK PICTURES AND THEY SAID THAT THEY WILL GET BACK TO ME. I MADE SURE I DID ALL OF THIS BEFORE THE FACTORY WARRANTY EXPIRED. TILL THIS DATE MY LEXUS LOOKS LIKE BRAND NEW OUTSIDE, AND THE INSIDE LOOKS LIKE IT IS 100 YEARS OLD. I WILL NEVER BUY A LEXUS MODEL EVER AGAIN UNLESS THEY MAKE GOOD AND REPAIR THESE PROBLEMS. I BOUGHT THIS CAR BECAUSE IT WAS A PEBBLE BEACH EDITION AND PAID TOP DOLLAR FOR THIS CAR. YOU WOULD THINK THE HIGHER PRICED CARS WOULD LAST LONGER AND THIS ONE HAS DISAPPOINTED ME. I HAVE A 2001 FORD F 150 AND THIS TRUCK IS THE BEST VEHICLE AND HALF THE PRICE OF THE LEXUS RX 350. I WAS DRIVING MY 2009 LEXUS RX 350 DOWN A MAJOR SURFACE STREET WHEN MY POWER BRAKES AND STEERING WENT OUT. I ATTEMPTED TO DRIVE AGAIN AFTER MOVING TO A SIDE STREET, AND MY STEERING AND BRAKES WENT OUT 2 MORE TIMES, I THEN HAD MY VEHICLE TOWED TO MY LEXUS DEALER. THEY COULD NOT IDENTIFY THE REASON FOR THE PROBLEM. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 LEXUS RX 350. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING AT A LOW SPEED WHILE DRIVING INTO A PARKING SPACE, WHEN THE VEHICLE SUDDENLY ACCELERATED AND DROVE OVER THE CURB. SHE ATTEMPTED TO USE THE BRAKES WHICH DID NOT WORK AT FIRST TO STOP THE VEHICLE. SHE THEN DEPRESSED THE BRAKE PEDAL WITH EXTREME FORCE AND SHIFTED INTO PARK WHICH STOPPED THE VEHICLE BEFORE IT COULD COLLIDE WITH A PLATE GLASS WINDOW. THE VEHICLE PREVIOUSLY HAD SLIGHT ACCELERATION PROBLEMS BUT WHEN SPEAKING TO THE DEALER IN JANUARY, THE DEALER STATED THAT THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH IT. THE VEHICLE WAS TOWED TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALERSHIP WHERE THE VEHICLE WAS AT THE TIME OF THE COMPLAINT. THE DEALER STATED THAT THE MANUFACTURER WOULD SEND A REPRESENTATIVE OUT TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE. THE CURRENT AND FAILURE MILEAGES WERE APPROXIMATELY 32,000-BK
THE RADIO/CD UNIT WHEN CHANGING STATIONS WILL TURN UNIT OFF AND EJECT A CD FROM THE UNIT. THIS OCCURS INTERMITTENTLY. IN ADDITION THE BACKLIGHT DISPLAY FLASHES ON AND OFF INTERMITTENTLY. DEALER STATES THAT NO PROBLEM HAS BEEN FOUND WHEN TROUBLESHOOTING. *TR
TL*THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 LEXUS RX350. WHILE DRIVING 65 MPH THERE WAS A LOUD NOISE AND THE AIR BAG IN THE REAR NEAR THE LIFT GATE DEPLOYED. THE DEALER NOR THE MANUFACTURER WERE NOTIFIED. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THERE WERE NO INJURIES. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT DAMAGED. THE FAILURE AND CURRENT MILEAGES WERE 31,000.
I WAS DRIVING MY 2009 LEXUS RX 350 AT ABOUT 25 MILES PER HOUR WHEN IT SUDDENLY RAPIDLY ACCELERATED. FORTUNATELY THERE WAS NOTHING/NO CAR IMMEDIATELY IN FRONT OF ME. I PRESSED DOWN ON THE BRAKES AND THE CAR RESPONDED BY SLOWING DOWN. I HAVE REPORTED THE INCIDENT TO LEXUS AND WILL HAVE THE DEALER INSPECT THE CAR AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. 2009 LEXUS 400H HYBRID BRAKES DISENGAGE WHEN BRAKING OVER ROUGH SURFACE, IT GIVES THE IMPRESSION OF ACCELERATING. I HAD THIS SAME PROBLEM WITH 2006 LEXUS 400H, BUT THE 2009 RECENTLY HAS BEEN HAVING MORE FREQUENT PROBLEM WITH THIS SITUATION.
THE NAVIGATION SYSTEM MAP ICON DOES NOT MATCH ACTUAL LOCATION OF VEHICLLE AS THE MAP IS OF A DIFFERENT AREA AND OFTEN ICON IS NOT ON A ROAD.
LEXUS RX 350-2009. WHEN THERE IS SNOW ON THE REAR HATCH, IF YOU OPEN THE HATCH WITH THE KEY WHEN IT REACHES THE TOP IT COMES DOWN, HITTING ANYONE TRYING TO PUT SOMETHING IN THE HATCH OR TAKE SOMETHING OUT. THIS HAPPENED TO ME TONIGHT. THE SECOND DEFECT IS THAT WHEN THE DOOR HITS SOMETHING, LIKE MY HEAD, IT AUTOMATICALLY DOESN'T STOP AND GO UP, THEREBY REDUCING THE BLOW, IT KEEPS COMING DOWN. *TR
I OWN A 2009 LEXUS RX 350. WHEN I AM DRIVING ON A BUMPY ROAD AND APPLY THE BRAKES THE CAR WILL NOT STOP. THEY ACT LIKE YOU ARE GOING INTO A SKID. SHORTLY AFTER PURCHASING THE CAR I REPORTED THE PROBLEM TO LEXUS. THEY KEEP ASSURING ME THAT THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE. LEXUS RX 350 BACK DOOR DOES NOT REMAIN UP WHEN THERE IS SNOW ON THE ROOF OR SNOW ON THE DOOR. IT GOES UP AUTOMATICALLY VIA KEY OR DASHBOARD ENTRY OR USE OF REAR DOOR OPENER, BUT WHEN IT GETS UP AND YOU ARE UNPACKING FROM THE REAR CARGO AREA, IT COMES DOWN WITHOUT WARNING AND TWICE HIT MY WIFE IN THE HEAD. *TR
TRAVELING EAST BOUND ON TEXAS HIGHWAY 380 IN DENTON COUNTY, TX. TRAFFIC SLOWED AS IT APPROACHED ENTRANCE RAMP TO I35 SOUTHBOUND. I APPLIED PRESSURE TO THE BRAKES TO DISENGAGE THE CRUISE CONTROL AND SLOW VEHICLE, NOTHING HAPPENED. DID THIS SEVERAL TIMES AND ALSO TRIED TO TURN CRUISE OFF FROM STEERING COLUMN LEVER. CRUISE DID NOT DISENGAGE, CAR DID NOT SLOW, MY VEHICLE RAN INTO THE REAR END OF THE ROCK HAULER TRUCK IN FRONT OF ME. *TR
WHEN THE SUV SHIFTS FROM 1ST TO 2RD GEAR THE ENGINE REVS UP ABOUT 1000 RPMS AND HESITATES 2-5 SECONDS BEFORE THE SHIFT TAKES PLACE. I CAN'T RELY ON POWER WHEN NEEDED BECAUSE OF THIS. IT'S NOT CONSTANT, ABOUT 30% OF THE TIME IT OCCURS. THE SAME THING HAPPENS WHEN DOWN SHIFTING. THE DEALER, KENDALL LEXUS OF EUGENE OREGON (RICK STRONG-SERVICE MANAGER) IS AWARE OF THE PROBLEM AND SAYS "TOYOTA WON'T PUT OUT A NEW CHIP TO FIX THE PROBLEM". RICK STRONG ALSO SAID" I TOLD THE SALESMAN HE SHOULD INFORM POTENTIAL BUYERS ABOUT THIS PROBLEM BEFORE THEY PURCHASE A VEHICLE". THIS PROBLEM IS ONGOING SINCE I BOUGHT THE VEHICLE.
MY 2009 LEXUS SUV TOOK OFF ON ITS OWN OUT OF A DRIVEWAY WHILE I WAS TRYING TO BACK OUT. I PUT THE CAR IN REVERSE, AND THE ENGINE BEGIN TO REV AND THEN THE CAR WAS UNCONTROLLABLE. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO THE DEALER WHERE THEY RAN A DIAGNOSTIC TEST. THEY INFORMED HER THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE TRANSMISSION AND THAT WAS THE DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE. ALSO, IT IS THE ELECTRONIC TRANSMISSION THAT TRIES TO ANTICIPATE WHAT THE DRIVER OF THE VEHICLE SHOULD DO NEXT BECAUSE IT IS THINKING FOR YOU. THE MANUFACTURER WAS ALSO CALLED AND STATED THERE WAS NOTHING THAT COULD BE DONE AND THAT WAS THE DESIGN OF THE VEHICLE. THE VEHICLE WAS NOT REPAIRED. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 30,000.
WHILE TRAVELING AT NORMAL HIGHWAY SPEED THE FRONT TIRE OUTER SIDEWALL SHREDDED COMPLETELY AND UNIFORMLY AROUND THE ENTIRE CIRCUMFERENCE OF THE SIDEWALL, RESULTING IN COMPLETE FAILURE OF THE TIRE. THE TIRE / CAR HAS 5,000 MILES. MICHELIN BRAND. I DO NOT KNOW THE DOT NUMBER, TYPE OF TIRE OR SIZING OTHER THAN IT IS A MICDHELIN TIRE, OR VIN NUMBER; SO GUESSES FOR THE SAME HAVE BEEN INSERTED. *TR

TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 LEXUS RX350. WHILE PULLING INTO AN OFF-STREET PARKING SPACE AT SPEEDS OF LESS THAN 5 MPH, THE VEHICLES ENGINE BEGAN TO SURGE AND THE VEHICLE THEN ABNORMALLY ACCELERATED. THE CONTACT ATTEMPTED TO DEPRESS THE BRAKE PEDAL, HOWEVER THE BRAKES WERE NON-RESPONSIVE. THE VEHICLE THEN CRASHED HEAD ON INTO A STONE WALL. THE VEHICLE WAS ABLE TO BE DRIVEN FROM THE CRASH SITE. SHE THEN DROVE TO HER LOCAL DEALER. THE DEALER DID A SHORT VISUAL INSPECTION AND STATED THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH THE VEHICLE AND THAT DRIVER ERROR WAS THE CAUSE OF THE CRASH. A DIAGNOSTIC WAS NOT PERFORMED ON THE VEHICLE. REPAIRS TO THE VEHICLE WERE MADE. THERE WERE NO ADDITIONAL FAILURES FOLLOWING THE REPAIRS. SHE STATED THAT FOLLOWING THE REPAIRS, THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL FELT HIGHER AND AS IF THERE WERE MODIFICATIONS DONE ON THE VEHICLE, HOWEVER SHE COULD NOT PROVE WHAT REPAIRS WERE DONE. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 4,500 AND THE CURRENT WAS APPROXIMATELY 7,500. UPDATED 4/28/10 *CN UPDATED 07/01/10.*JB
TL* THE CONTACT OWNS A 2009 LEXUS RX. THE CONTACT WAS DRIVING APPROXIMATELY 15 MPH ON NORMAL ROAD CONDITIONS, PROCEEDING TO TURN AT AN INTERSECTION. THERE WAS PRESSURE APPLIED TO THE ACCELERATOR PEDAL, FOLLOWED BY NO POWER RESPONSE. THE VEHICLE RESUMED OPERATION AFTER TWO SECONDS OF A DELAY. IN ADDITION, THE VEHICLE EXHIBITED AN UNINTENDED FORCEFUL AND AGGRESSIVE ACCELERATION. THE FAILURES OCCURRED INTERMITTENTLY. THE VEHICLE WAS TAKEN TO AN AUTHORIZED DEALER ON FOUR SEPARATE OCCASIONS FOR THE IDENTICAL FAILURES. THE TECHNICIAN WAS UNABLE TO DUPLICATE THE FAILURES. THE VEHICLE HAS NOT BEEN REPAIRED FOR THE MALFUNCTIONS. THE FAILURE MILEAGE WAS 75.
UPON TAKING DELIVERY OF NEW RX350 I IMMEDIATELY NOTICED A TRANSMISSION WHINE. I FEEL IT IS A SAFETY FACTOR BECAUSE I AM CONSTANTLY THINKING OF THE PROBLEM AS I DRIVE. MY MIND IS NOT ON DRIVING AS IT SHOULD BE. I IMMEDIATELY WENT BACK TO DEALER AND SHOP FOREMAN DROVE THE CAR AND HEARD THE NOISE. HE SAID DON'T WORRY AS I HAVE A WARRANTY. THIS IS NOT A VIABLE ANSWER TO MY PROBLEM. WHAT IF I BREAK DOWN IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE. TALKED WITH SALES MANAGER AND HE STATED WAIT UNTIL THE 2010 MODEL COMES OUT. HE WOULD NOT DO ANYTHING. *TR

MY WIFE WAS DRIVING CAR AFTER PICKING KIDS UP FROM SCHOOL. DURING DRIVING MY 8Y/O DAUGHTER DISCONNECTED REAR SEAT BELT TO REACH DOWN AND PICKUP A DROPPED TOY. SEAT BELT RETRACTED AROUND MY DAUGHTERS NECK CHOKING HER. MY STOPPED CAR AND TRIED TO GET BELT TO RELEASE. IT JUST GOT TIGHTER AROUND MY DAUGHTERS THROAT. POLICE WERE CALLED BY CELL PHONE AND HAD TO CUT BELT TO RELEASE IT FROM MY DAUGHTERS NECK. *TR
